The Dragon of No Words - #3
A/N: I’m gonna leave out links to avoid my post disappearing from search… But it’s on Wattpad too, if anyone prefers to read there.
Tumblr media
Avi watched his boss walk out of the Italian restaurant with another big fitness bag from inside the van. His tail wagged; it seemed like another successful deal had been struck.
In his two months working for him, he slowly begun to learn of Emrys’ business model. The man clearly was not the biggest or the richest arms dealer in the world, or even in his country. How could he when he had never had someone work for him before Avi. Instead, the larger, richer arms dealers were his suppliers, and Avi learned throughout the months that most of them were Eamon’s connections. Emrys acted as some sort of a reseller for their weapons, with local gangs and smaller mafia families from neighboring countries as his target customers. And he did all that on his own, much Avi’s amazement.
Emrys slid into the driver’s seat and threw the bag to Avi. “There, grab your share and leave the rest in the bag,” he said, turning on the engine. A small smile cracked on his face hearing the loud whooshing from Avi’s tail wagging intensely in excitement. He drove off to his next destination, one that Avi noticed he kept going to after he made profit. A graveyard.

Emrys woke up to some soreness in his legs. He silently complained about it, until the images of some humongous creature trying to eat him flashed in his mind. Oh yeah…that happened. He thought that was just a really vivid absurd nightmare about him escaping his family’s legacy or something.
He got up, fighting the soreness, unwilling to bend to its pleas, and headed towards the kitchen. A deep rumbling sound stopped him in the hallway, coming from the guest room across his own bedroom. Eyebrow raised, he peeked inside the guest room.
Ah, yes. Another thing he forgot that happened yesterday.

The Dragon of No Words - #1

A/N: Still just an introduction of Emrys and Avi. This series may or may not be slow burn-y, so I hope y’all have patience.

Give contacts, get contacted. Offer deals, haggle, make profit.
Rinse and repeat…. For the next ten years….
Emrys was eighteen when he took over the arms dealing department of his father’s large illegal sales empire. It was the most sought after of all the departments; firearms is and always will be popular, especially among people hungry for power. The buyers were hardly ever vary, but the goods he got his hands on and had the pleasure to sell, in the last three years at least, was always changing. The traditional firearms were starting to lose demands as the market’s interest shifted to a new, more mysterious weapons not of this world, or of the galaxy, for that matter.
This day was an especially intriguing day. For the first time since the rise of its existence over a decade ago, his father finally got his hands on one of the latest weapon trends. He wasn’t even sure if calling it a weapon was appropriate. He had told Emrys to raise the price, “make them bid,” he’d told him. Emrys could only obey.

Heya, with the recent update, I decide that I’ll just…effectively ditch tumblr for good because. What’s the point anymore lmao.
Come find me at my Twitter.
And Instagram.
And Wattpad.
None of my contents are flagged, but my country already put a very decisive block on this shithole. So why stick around. I’m tired of circumnavigating into social medias.

True Love’s...Something [Commission - NSFW]
Commissioned to me by my friendo (and official owner of Naomi): @ilovetempe
The story below contains: teratophilia smut. This is part of a new AU we made that combines monster-frames in a modern setting with essences of Devilman, organized superheroes, and magical girls.
SUMMARY: When your Magical Monster Boyfriend finds out that he can’t transform back into his human form, what are you going to do? Well, in Naomi’s case, she advises him to ask his dad---also a magic monster man---but the answer they get is...less than convenient.
“Alright, guys, show’s over! Go back to your class and wait for instructions! We’ll update you on things. Now, go!” the gym teacher, Mr. Ostrowski, ushered the students back into the school building. A group of monsters interrupted his class today, much to everybody’s panic including his own. The situation could have been worse, and he lost his students to the monsters’ brutal murders, but help, which was just more monsters, came and slaughtered those that tried to attack the students. It became quite a spectacle; some the students forgot to be scared, took out their phones, and started recording and taking pictures. Within minutes, the social media was flooded with pictures of the latest humanoid monster vigilantes.
Naomi, however, didn’t need to partake in the ritual of taking her phone out; she had more than plenty pictures of the vigilantes, particularly the red-and-black one, her favorite. She trailed off behind the crowd and escaped back out to the outdoors once more, without the teacher noticing. She looked around constantly as she made her way to the gym equipment’s storage room. She opened the door very carefully and very slightly, just wide enough to slip through the opening. She made sure to close the door properly, not wanting to draw suspicion. She stepped back, checking for signs of the door still loose, and her back bumped against a wall…of flesh.
She yelped and spun in her heels, hands flailing in a poor attempt to hit and defend herself, but one of them was caught still. A large palm pressed upon her mouth, muffling her terrified shrieks before it attracts too much attention. The storage room was dark, only the ceilings were lit by sunlight that crept through the vents, but the figure in front of her ignited. Red lights shone on some parts of his body: on his shoulders, neck, hips, and most of all, his four small eyes. A gentle puff of steam helped Naomi calm down, hands ceasing to hit him. It was safe for him to release her mouth.
“Geez! Don’t scare me like that!” she scolded, giving Asa a light slap on his chest. He chuffed at the slap, which didn’t even feel like anything to his thick skin. “Why aren’t you turning back yet?”
Asa simply shrugged and hunched to her height to nuzzle his face against her neck. His affectionate gesture sent tingles down her spine. It was still quite a foreign sensation to her, receiving his love in his other, more alien form. Not that it was unappreciated, she was just more accustomed to human skin. In his human form, he would normally pepper her with small, gentle kisses with his thin callous lips. His other form, however, has nothing that resembles lips. His maws hide rows of sharp teeth, on some cases, she had seen him use those fangs to pierce through his enemies’ skin when he deemed his hands and sword were not enough to kill.
She yelped again, feeling the mounds of her buttocks squeezed by his strong hands. The texture of his monstrous skin was rough, like a very old and worn towel, but it was warm. His fingers gave her butt cheeks a firm squeeze, which she slapped at. “You just can’t wait, can you?” She heard him groan playfully and she couldn’t help but giggle with him. “Now, why don’t you turn back and take me on properly?”
Asa whined but obliged; he stepped back to call back his monster form so his real self could take his place. He started hunching, growling as he used his power to transform back.
     But nothing happened.
He tried again, harder this time, using all his willpower to recall his transformation until he felt like his veins were to burst and his skin going to tear up a bloody gash. It felt like trying to unload a gigantic, hefty dump, so much that it hurts. Yet, his efforts were fruitless. His skin remained intact, black and red and rough. He stared at his hands shakily, seeing them still black as ashes with short triangular claws. Again, nothing happened. He growled in frustration, his teeth baring menacingly at his own hands.
“What’s wrong?” Naomi asked. She had been standing, watching Asa doing all this weird grunting and hunching. “You’re still…like this,” she gestured at his whole body. Asa could only hung his head in defeat.
He walked back to the lost and found corner in the back of the storage and came back with his phone in hand. His thumbs hopped about the touchscreen in swift motions, typing words. Not long after, he gave his phone to Naomi and she took it. A notepad app was opened, words he typed were on it.
     I can’t transform back. I don’t know why.
“What?” she slowly looked up from his phone, handing it back to him, in case he needed to type something more. “Has this ever happened before?”
Asa took a few seconds to type, one foot tapping at the floor, impatient and anxious being faced with such an issue. He handed her the phone again. The text had been replaced.
Sometimes. Happened a few times, but gone if I force it strong enough. Not this time.
Reading his reply made her bite her finger, concerned filled her heart. She tried not to let the negative thoughts haunt her. “There has to be something you can do to fix this,” she said, giving back the phone to its owner. Her words carried nothing, she just said that without actually knowing anything that could help his predicament. She had to think; what could possibly help him right now? “Does…does anyone you know can help? Your dad, maybe?”
Long stream of steam puffed out from the vents on his shoulders and back. Through the time she has been dating with him, she had learned that he expelled steam as a way of sighing. This long puff signified her that he was dreading having to ask his father about it. But he nodded, sat down, and diverted his attention to his phone again. Although, this time, he was not writing to Naomi. He wrote to his father and Naomi moved to his side, kneeling next to him to peek at what he was writing.
Dad, I can’t turn back to normal. It’s a long story, but it’s been an issue lately. Help…?
They waited for an answer. Naomi placed a hand on his chest, as she knew he would be brimming with anxiety at this moment. With her skin on his, he felt that his anxiety didn’t feel as strong as it usually was. But his heart still beat just as hard as when he had a bout of vicious anxious feeling, only without the horrible feelings and thoughts. In fact, he could not think of anything but…her. Her skin, her voice, her…warm lips. He placed a hand on her thigh…
The ringtone of his phone snapped him out with a jolt, though Naomi was less startled by it. She held it up to see what Avinashi wrote back. The release of her hand from his chest brought emptiness inside of him, but he wasn’t allowed to dwell on the emptiness for long as Naomi brought his attention to the text. His father wrote quite a few lines, as the notifications kept coming.
     Aah…that happened to me before…
It doesn’t happen to everyone, but I’ve known enough people who suffered that to be able to call it a normal thing.
     Say, is anyone with you?
Asa made a disappointed grunt. Why was that important to know? But if he asked it, in response to his question, then it could be important. So he replied honestly, telling Avi that Naomi was with him. Then another period of waiting. He looked to Naomi again, who looked back to him reassuringly. The storage room was dim, closer to dark, but her eyes remained bright. He vented steam again; if only she knew how beautiful she was. He raised a hand wanting to touch her face.
The phone pinged again, much to his dismay. He reminded himself the text was important, but he was starting to feel that being in this form for longer than necessary wasn’t so bad anymore. They looked at the reply.
     Perfect!
Then Beauty and the Beast it!
And I mean really Beast it.
Asa was not amused at all. If he had his human mouth, he would have straight up called his father and yelled, but he couldn’t do that. Naomi was just as confused as he was, but not as mad. “What does that supposed to mean?” she asked. Then her face scrunched, trying to think. She loves fairytales, this is her field, she should know this. Then a scene in the tale came to mind and she jumped in her kneeling position, exclaiming, “Oh! I know!” She shuffled to kneel in front of him, her eyes gleaming with possible discovery.
“You know how in the story, the Beast can’t return into a human unless he learns how to love,” Naomi began reciting, but was cut by Asa growling, coupled with short puffs of steam. He knew how the story went and he didn’t like that he was being compared to the Beast who knew not how to love. Naomi didn’t know what exactly he was thinking, but she could guess. She giggled apologetically. “Sorry. But my point is maybe it’s true love’s kiss that he meant. Maybe that can fix your problem. Here, let me just do it for you.”
She held his face with her hands, thumbs caressing underneath his lower eyes. She took a deep breath, but there was a smile on her face. She cleared her throat, “Asa…I love you,” her voice softly proclaimed. It captivated him, the way she wholeheartedly professed her love, but he wasn’t able to savor the words as her soft lips pressed against the slit of his mouth.
Her body close to him, kissing him, his senses numbed. He couldn’t think. Nothing came to his brain. Nothing, but her and her skin. He purred and started tilting his head, wanting to get more, taste more…but she pulled away. Damn.
She scanned his face and the rest of his body. She noticed him blinking a few times, but most of all, she saw no changes to his body. She pouted. “Aw, shoot. I guess that’s just something that happens in stories.” She sighed, “Sorry, Asa. I wasn’t much help—mmp!” She was cut by him slamming his mouth against hers. Not having enough of the kiss earlier, he demanded more and in such a vigorous way, too. She was overwhelmed by his power; she held his shoulders, but not yet pushing him back. She felt his mouth parting and her eyes opened just slightly, just so she could be more careful with where she placed her lips. Her bottom lip was already touching his long sharp teeth and it was an unnerving experience. What if he accidentally sliced her lips with those chompers?
Asa had never been known to be a dry kisser, but when they kiss, usually it was not exactly wet either. This time, with his monster form’s lipless mouth, his saliva could not be stopped; some dripped to her PE uniform. Then, much to her surprise, something wetter and slicker touched her chin, and it came out of Asa’s mouth. Her arms pushed him off for real this time. “Asa! What are you doing?!” she exclaimed. Moving back actually let her see the shape, length, and how…wriggly his monster tongue is. Despite her efforts, it still snaked its way on her face, its tip flicking over her lips. She kept her lips shut and that only earned her an annoyed grumble from the monster man in front of him.
She covered her mouth. “I don’t want you to put that thing in my mouth!” she protested, but he wouldn’t back away. Instead, he pushed on further, slithery tongue extended even further, trying to slip between her hand and her face. “Asa, come on, I’m serious! You’re acting weird!”
Something touched her thigh, just as slick and slimy as his tongue, except it was down south. It brought goosebumps all over her body; she quickly looked down to see two long protrusions coming out of Asa’s…crotch. Oh, dear. Even his penis looked far different; instead of one big equipment, he has two: one is thicker and stiffer, the other slimmer, longer, and prehensile, proven by how it curled around her thick thigh. At which point, Naomi realized she was in some deep shit.
Asa grabbed both of her wrists, pried the hand over her mouth off, and pinned them to the sides of her head. Her boyfriend had always been strong, but she didn’t recall him being this strong and quite rough to boot. Maybe his monster senses messed up his strength control—or most of his reasoning, for that matter. The Asa she knew would be too anxious to do something like this without asking at least ten times if she’s really okay with it. His phone slid next to them as he made way for his tongue all over her neck. She pursed her lips tight, still not wanting his tongue inside her mouth. Her eyes drifted to his phone and she remembered what his father told him: “really Beast it,” he said. She already did it like The Beauty and the Beast, but it didn’t work, what did it mean?
Then it came to her. ‘Beast’ it, it is exactly as it sounds, isn’t it? She sighed and faced the monster form of her boyfriend. “I have no choice, looks like…” she muttered to herself, “this better works,” and she hesitantly opened her mouth. Asa took no time to take that advantage and his tongue plunged deep into her mouth. Naomi groaned and shivered, holding back her gag reflex as he dug deep with his oral muscle. It was gross at first, his saliva got everywhere on her face, but then he started moving his long tongue back and forth, his body looming very close to hers that she can feel the foamy mound of her bra pressing against his thick monster skin. The texture of his tongue rubbing against the thin skin of her lips. His large, strong hands moved her arms that they stretched above her head, holding them in place, and suddenly she moaned. Being held like this was actually pretty hot.
She felt another slimy wet thing curl on her other thigh. She peeked as best she could and discovered that what she thought was two penises turned out to be five: one big and erect one and four slimmer and prehensile ones. The big one just sat on her labia, above her PE shorts, while the others curled around her legs, spreading them wide. Two of the smaller ones slipped into her shorts and panties underneath. She inhaled sharply, feeling them being pulled away, her core felt cold from being exposed.
She squirmed and tried to bring her legs together to no avail; would he just go straight for it? She wasn’t ready yet, but she couldn’t tell him—her arms were restrained and her mouth full that she could make groans and moans. Her best effort was to arch her back, making her chest press further against his. Luckily, he seemed to have caught her drift. His hands released her wrists and glided over her arms to her body. She trembled feeling his callous fingers cupping her waist, thumbing near her navel. She finally got a moment to breathe; his tongue released her mouth, just in time as his hands dove underneath her shirt, the back of his hands pulling the shirt up. He tucked her PE uniform just above her upper bust, more than enough to expose her bra. He shoved his face between her wide cleavage, squeezing her breasts and bringing them closer together. Naomi moaned through bitten lip feeling his fingers slip under her bra and tuck them alongside her uniform.
She watched him take a whiff of her body odor, still slightly sweaty from PE class and probably not smelling too fresh. His nostrils flared and shrunk with every sniff, his tongue slopping over her ribs. Can’t this guy close his maws for one second? His tongue didn’t act like a tongue should; it slithered along her body like a snake, like it had a mind of its own, and its pointy tip flicked at her nipple, causing her to squirm and moan. It danced around in circles over her areola, while his fingers toyed with her twin.
Naomi could feel her core thumping, secreting lubricating juices as her breasts were being toyed with. Her opening flexed, and as if seeing it as an invitation, two of his tentacle-like penises snaked their way to the opening of her vagina. They rubbed along the vulva, dipping only slightly to stretch it. Naomi whimpered and shifted her hips, but her whimpers turned into an open moan, as one of the tentacle-dicks made its way into her core. It was slim enough to slip painlessly, but her folds still needed to stretch. Asa’s hips started to move in a slow, methodical rhythm, a rhythm that caused his larger, less tentacle-looking dick rubbing against her clitoris.
She gasped and moaned; her man was doing so many things at once to her body that she was overwhelmed by her sensors going haywire on different areas. She ran her hands over her head, pulling some of her own hair feeling his tentacle wriggling in her core, brushing against every corner of her walls. Sometimes she could feel her lower stomach undulated a bit when his tentacle poked under that area. She thought having one of his appendages going straight into her core when it wasn’t fully ready would hurt, but his appendage was surprisingly slick and slimy that it slipped in and out without trouble. She was about to surrender, but a feeling of liquids squirting inside her core startled her, drove her into a burst of panic. “Asa, wait!” She sat bolt upright, but the red monster quickly held her shoulders to guide her back down.
“That’s not what I think it is…right?” she asked him, eyeing cautiously at her nether area. She received a gentle lick to her cheek. He slowly shook his head, assuming that he understood what she meant. It made her nervous that the smaller tentacle kept spraying her walls with liquid until she felt like she could pour a waterfall out of her vagina. He tried to distract her by licking her a lot, sending his long tongue inside her mouth again while his hands caressed all over her body, she could tell, but her eyes remained vigilant.
Suddenly, he lifted her, to her surprise. The liquid oozed down her opening in her more upright position; just how much of this…substance did he slather all over her insides? He didn’t let her ponder on it long as he placed her on the thick mattress used for high jump training. She lay on her back on the mattress, but Asa’s legs remained on the wooden floor of the storage room. His liquid-sprouting tentacle-dick finally slithered out, joining his brothers to curl around her thigh. In its stead, the larger, stiffer penis finally was moved into position. At which point, Naomi realized that she had been assuming wrong this whole time. Asa was just warming her up; he was just getting started.
His main penis was the real deal; it was big, thick, and pulsing with load. It stretched her core entrance to its limit, pulling at her delicate muscle tendons that caused her to moan aloud, flinging her face to the side. Her eyes shut tight, her mouth hanging wide open; Asa’s monster dick was definitely bigger than his usual, it felt almost like trying to fit a water bottle inside. It’s possible to do, but not so easy. The lubricant left by the smaller tentacle-dick helped making the entrance easier, but it didn’t help numbing the ache caused by the stretching. He didn’t wait to let her get used to his new and improved size, he started moving right ahead, lubricant sloshing as he went back and forth. He struck with great strength, rocking her entire body, every meat and fat in her body bounced with every slam.
He loomed over her pear-shaped figure, watching her yelp a moan with every strike, her arms tucked close to the sides of her chest, her humble breasts bounced up and down. His four tentacles held her legs apart, but her knees bent and locked around his waist. The red monster-man released hot steam from the vents on his shoulders, saliva dropping from his mouth to her chest as he panted plus feasting on the sight in front of him. Her cheeks became redder and redder, and her voice was starting to break.
One foot climbed onto the thick mattress, Asa lowered his body slightly. He needed to gain more speed, but in turn, he wouldn’t be able to let his hands play with her body anymore. He had to keep his body sturdy, unshaking, as he slammed harder into his girlfriend. At the increasing speed, her moans got louder, and she couldn’t subdue them by herself. He slithered his tongue back inside her mouth, only this time, she accepted him immediately. Her tongue weakly tapped against his own while occasionally interrupted by her moans. She held his face, caressing his rough skin texture, gently at first, but then the aching ecstasy from his slams into her made her clench her fingers, nails grazing his skin. He puffed some steam again and she could feel the hot air flowing down and touching her chest and stomach. It made her sweat and her core tighten from the heat that touched her outside as well as inside.
He filled her on both ends: her mouth and her vagina. This has to be an experience not all women can have, at least not safely. His size alone stifled her southern area, with her ever closing climax, her walls tighten around his length to the point where they basically seem to be arguing; her walls saying they have no space left, but his length insisted he can fit fine. The tentacles that had been constricting her thighs suddenly let go, leaving her to hook her legs around his waist on their own power. They huddled around their alpha, the one that was currently filling with semen, near ready to unload. They wriggled around her opening like a bunch of snakes, their slick texture leave off cold wetness on her skin, and with how aching and sensitized her nether was, every touch made her squirm even harder.
They found their way to another opening, just below her taken vagina, and like wolves, they stormed to it. They rubbed it, massaged it, and the lubricator one did its job; squirting the same liquid so its brothers could push their way in. Feeling her back hole being taken by three hungry tentacles, Naomi shouted into their tongue kiss, her back arched sharply. They did not enter deep, the feeling of them forcing her asshole open brought a surge within her. Asa used her arched back to his advantage, catching her hips and kept them upright with one arm. He slammed even harder, sharp nails clawing at the mattress and the other hand clawed at her thick hips.
Naomi’s hands, too, tried to find something to claw at above her head, but she could not grasp anything. Her moans and yells were broken, wanting to be loud but the rocking of her body prevented them from being loud and clear. She couldn’t think anymore, everything was batted away by his brutal thrusts, behind her shut eyelids, her eyeballs rolled backwards. Her saliva drooled over to her mouth, up to her cheeks, before the rocking flung them away.
Asa roared; his tongue rolled back into his mouth and he gritted his long sharp teeth. His alpha penis felt so bloated and the tightening of her core was almost squeezing his load out. But just a little more. He just needed to collect a few more liquid ounces of his load….
The smaller girl in his arms quaked and her mouth opened even wider, but only broken sounds of what supposed to be a long moan came out. Her core doused his length with hot wetness that tempted him even stronger. Not long after, her body limped, while Asa was still thrusting in. She had no strength left to react to his remaining moves. Her eyes barely opened anymore, but she still had enough strength and consciousness to watch him quiver and roared, vaguely feeling her inside brimming to the end with hot gooey substance. He ejaculated for a good two minutes, with some short breaks in between. In her half-conscious daze, she could somewhat feel his hands and arms quivering, losing their strength. He lowered her hips and just let her lay down while he unloaded the last few drops. The moment he finished, he pulled out, and Naomi watched him stagger and collapsed right next to her.
She reached out to him, but not even halfway her arm’s reach, she blacked out.
“I can’t believe it worked…” Asa half-muttered half-grumbled, a towel in hand, helping his girlfriend clean up after the mess they caused an hour ago. Naomi, on the other hand, was all giggles.
“What? Were you really expecting the ‘true love’s kiss’ schtick would be enough?” she asked, coming back from the lost and found corner to bring him his bag, his spare clothes inside. She also picked up his phone that he left on the floor before he moved her to the mattress. She was careful with how she moved her legs; their session left her nether area feeling full of ache.
“It should be enough. I don’t understand why it has to be this extra.” He took his bag from her hands and started getting changed. Naomi simply sat down and watched him put his spare uniform clothes on. It was as alluring as seeing him strip; despite his gruff and occasionally impolite demeanor, he was quite proper in the way he dressed, making sure that his shirt is tucked neatly in his pants.
She shrugged, “Well, I’m not complaining.” Her happy-go-lucky response earned her a frown from her boyfriend. He walked up to her and caged her between his large arms in her seat.
“I can’t believe you’re into that,” he grumbled, which only amplified when she giggled in response. She shut his grumbles by pulling him on the collar and pushing their lips together. They didn’t get to do this properly before; kissing him on his actual lips just felt more proper.
“I told you I’ve had the hots for your other form even before we started dating. Don’t worry, this form of you I love just the same. You don’t slobber when you kiss.” She pecked him quickly before he straightened his back, giving her a ruffle on her hair before he left to pack up his things. They overslept through the last period after they had sex, so now they could go straight home, unless the teachers spot them, that is.
Naomi had asked her friends, via text, to pack her things and bring her bag with them, to wait for her and Asa at the nearby convenient store. She looked down between her legs and her smile faded into curiosity. She may have been half-conscious at the time, but she remembered feeling him unloading a lot of substance into her core. She remembered feeling so full, but when she woke up, everything had dried to the point that she couldn’t tell it was there in the first place. She couldn’t even see traces of it when she tried to look.
She looked to her boyfriend, “Asa…” she called. But when he looked over, she retracted her words. She smiled again. “Let’s go somewhere.”

Maths, My One True Weakness (Part 2)
SUMMARY:
Naomi meets up with Asa at the public library, as promised. He tutors her as he is supposed to, but she discovered more things about him as their afternoon go on.
The library wasn’t a place she frequently visits. In fact, she had zero memory as to when she came to the town’s public library the last time. She doesn’t hate reading, it’s just that the books she reads are those she has really strong interest in.
A soft creak announced her presence to the middle-aged lady sitting behind the counter. She greeted her with a warm smile, which Naomi greeted back with a slightly more awkward smile, before she returned her attention to the computer. That left Naomi free to roam around the place to find her tutor.
She found him sitting at one of the tables next to the aisle that says ‘Fiction: G-H’, reading a big, thick book that easily splayed open without his fingers needing to press the pages apart. A large pair of black headphones hugged his head, over his ears. She was amused at the thought that he still found this place not quiet enough that he had to bring such large headphones. He probably couldn’t hear her coming, so when she stood next to him, she gently placed her bag near him. The shudder from the impact her bag made with the table alerted the half-blind young man.
“Oh, hey, you’re here,” he said, hastily turning off his music and taking off his headphones. Something that looked like a smaller earphone tumbled off from his right ear, and noticing he dropped it, he caught it in his hand before placing it in the breast pocket of his shirt.
“Why are you wearing an earphone inside a headphone?” Naomi asked, sitting next to him.
“It’s my aid,” Asa replied quickly. His face slightly red, flustered from how awkward and stupid he was for hurrying. He realized he didn’t need to be such in a hurry.
   “Aid?”
“Yeah, my hearing aid. I’m deaf—well, only on this side…” he explained, one finger made a circling motion in front of his right ear.
   “Oh… Sorry…”
“Nah, no, it’s fine. It’s not like it’s obvious that I’m half-deaf, not as obvious as my being half-blind.”
“Then...why aren’t you wearing it right now?” She pointed at his breast pocket where he dropped the hearing aid into.
“Don’t need it. The library’s quiet, I can hear you just fine.” His eye darted to her bag, trying to steer the conversation away from his handicaps. “So? Which one do you have problems with?” he asked.
“Everything!” Naomi replied with a gusto, taking all of her textbook and notes. “I’m sorry, but please start from the beginning of this term.”
Asa gulped; not because he was afraid of having to explain half a term’s worth of math equations, but he basically gulped for her sake. “You do realize we have only about two weeks before midterms, right? You sure you want me to cram that much in this little amount of time?”
Naomi pouted, acknowledging that he was right. She had thought about this and it scared her. “W-well...let’s just...start with the first half of the first chapter, then see if I can handle them or not.”
“Fair enough. Alright, let’s not waste anymore time.”
Asa was quick to turn into tutor mode, and he was quite the stern tutor at that, too. Whenever Naomi lost focus and started going off on a tangent, Asa tapped her on her arm with the back of his hand, accompanied with a sharp, “Focus,” jabbed at her. It happened several times during their first two hours of tutoring; Naomi was obviously trying to make the suffering much more bearable, but when she tried to do so, Asa noticed, she really attempted to steer every attention away from maths. Asa’s main struggle was to keep her listening to him.
Naomi still hated maths, and despite her multiple attempts to escape from her tutoring, she found herself somewhat understanding the formulae she never understood before. Granted, Asa had to speak to her as if he was speaking to an elementary student, because the fancy math terms escaped her. He used Naomi’s strong tendency to make fun rhymes to her advantage, which works awesomely with trigonometry. And three long, arduous hours later, the older of the two decided to end the tutoring session, much to Naomi’s relief.
She stretched her arms up, groaning with relief. “Oh my goooooood! My head is gonna explode!”
“You’re fine. We managed to cover through our goal, didn’t we? You can go home now, eat...ice cream, I dunno. Whatever you like.”
“I like ice cream.” She packed her books and notes back into her bag, while Asa grabbed the large book she found him reading in the beginning of the day. She watched him rummage into his bag and pulled out a bookmark with a picture of some character from a game that was currently quite a hot discussion topic, typically among the boys. She kept hearing how said game made them frustrated, but at the same time excited. He slipped the themed bookmark about a fifth through the thick book. He had read that much since his arrival to the library and their meeting?
“Not only are you apparently pretty shy, but a straight-A student, a bookworm, and a gamer, too? You’re actually a pretty big nerd, aren’t ya?” Naomi teased with a big wide grin plastered on her heart-shaped face. Her remark earned her a blush and stammers from the eleventh grader.
“Y-yeah? So what if I’m a nerd?” he retorted, trying to remain stalwart.
Naomi giggled. “Nothing. It’s just really interesting that everything is packed in such a tall package of muscles and rage. You honestly strike more as the typical jock type. Hold on...don’t tell me you play football too?”
Asa sighed and walked to the counter. There, Naomi learned that Asa and the librarian seemed to be very familiar with each other, judging by their small talk. A small talk which he cut off to talk to her. “I can play football, but not part of the club. I’m not in any clubs at school, actually.” He paused and thought about his next words. He wanted to decide against it, but he ended up telling her anyway. What harm could there be? “I do go to the gym and take wrestling three days a week, though…”
“Ha! That still counts as a jock thing!” Naomi laughed as they exited the library. “You must be popular, huh?”
“I dunno. You don’t seem to know me, otherwise you wouldn’t be talking to me. Your friends, though, oh I know they know who I am. They don’t want you to talk to me.” Asa grimaced; he acted like he didn’t care but he paid close attention to Esh-baal and Eve’s body language, how they just succumbed to Naomi’s genuine wishes to present him with her homemade lunch. He could tell at least one of them was ready to pick up a fight with him should he harm this tiny blond girl. A lot of the students wanted to fight him, not just the bullies.
“Oh, they’re always in with the gossips and stuff. I don’t. I’m happy with cooking shows and DIY videos.” She lightly skipped in her steps, contrasting the way Asa took giant heavy strides that made him appear to walk fast. “I must say, I almost think you’d join Kazuo and his guys to gang up on me back then… Glad that wasn’t the case!”
“Who—oh. That prick. Ehh, I’ve had a lot of beef with that kid for a long time. Picked on Glovar when he first entered the swimming club, but my bro defended himself. You just...happened to be his victim at the time, that gave me an excuse to dish some payback. Feels real good.”
“Well, I’m glad my being harrassed turned to be beneficial. Also, it made a positive first impression of you for me!”
Asa raised an eyebrow—well, his only visible eyebrow—at the shorter girl. “Really? You’re not scared, after how I threatened a junior off a window that one time?”
“Now that I know what a big nerd you are, no! Besides, you were saving your brother, weren’t you?” she asked, tilting her head slightly to the side, a smile sitting on her face. “You’ve been nothing but a pretty nice jock-nerd combo to me this whole time.”
The tall young man shifted his mouth and ground his teeth together to hold back a big bright blush. “Okay, enough with the labels.” His eyes looked up momentarily as they arrived at a crossroads and stopped to turn to her. “Which way’s your house?”
“There,” she pointed straight ahead, “at Clementine Road. Where’s yours?”
“Same way, but two blocks further at Cherimoya. But I’m meeting up with my sister this way,” he said, pointing to the road to his left.
She giggled, knowing they didn’t live too far apart. “Nice. Still in the ‘Fruity District’,” she giggled again, this time at her own nickname for the area of their houses. The roads were, indeed, named after fruits. But then her brain tuned in to another piece of his sentence. It made her freeze for a moment. “Wait wait wait… Sister? I never—”
“You know her,” he cut her off, “she goes to the same school as us.”
“What grade? Is she younger? Older?”
   “Not a student.”
“A teacher?! Which one? Tell me!” She hopped towards him, standing as close as possible in front of him, eager to know.
“I’ll give you a clue: she teaches English.”
It wasn’t much of a riddle; she gasped with the answer somewhat choked up behind her voice. “Miss Cayaditto?! She’s your sister? But your last names...oh, wait, she must be married.”
The way she reacted to the revelation amused him, Asa had a good chuckle out of it. “No, not married. Not yet. But, yeah, she’s my sister. Okay, technically not, but we used to grow up in the same house before she moved out with her boyfriend. Uh, long story. I’d tell you when I’m not in such a hurry.” His feet moved towards the road that lead him to his sister, while Naomi to her house.
Naomi understandingly nodded and headed towards her home. “No problem. See ya!” She started walking, but turned around before both of them departed too far. “Wait! Asa!” she hollered. She made sure to holler as loud as she sanely could, remembering that he was half-deaf. Luckily, not many cars were around at the moment. “Can I eat lunch with you again?”
Asa didn’t answer immediately. His eye was searching for an answer on a blank sidewalk tile, his lips pursed. Soon, his hand cupped his chin. He glanced quickly at her, only to find her eagerly waiting for an answer—which she expected to be ‘yes’ judging by how hopeful she looked. He thought Grimoaldo had given her the warning, he thought Esh-baal and Eve had warned her. Either they actually failed to do so, or this girl just had the determination the size of a kaiju. He sighed through his nostrils. “Yeah, only if you promise to focus when we meet again tomorrow. And, uh, if your math grade doesn’t improve the next pop quiz, no more VIP rooftop lunch for you. Copy that?”
Her eyes and face beamed. She striked a saluting pose with a gusto. “Sir, yes, sir!” she exclaimed, followed by a series of giggles. Asa returned her salute out of amusement, though his gesture had less oomph in it. They saw each other off for the second time, and for real.
Asa thought back of his decision; worrying if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He was mainly influenced by what she said; after purposefully building an intimidating image throughout his school years, it felt pleasing to find someone who saw past that, and he clung to the sentiment. Maybe he shouldn’t have, but for once, he wanted to go against his harder, colder instincts.

Maths, My One True Weakness (Part 1)
SUMMARY:
Continuation of The One-eyed Upperclassman 1 & 2.
Naomi is not doing so hot on her pop quizzes. She barely escapes F but still pretty low on the D spectrum. She desperately needs help, and as she wallows for the future of her grades, an unexpected and unlikely number prodigy appears before her.
It was a fat, emboldened D.
Written in bright red marker on the top of her math pop-up quiz.
Naomi almost passed out in her seat; not yet, but her body had fallen to her desk, hanging weakly with her quiz dangling in her fingers. She hid her face in her arms and whined. “I hate maths!” she howled, her voice slightly muffled by the meat of her arms.
Her friends gave her comforting back and head rubs as they shifted their chairs closer to her. Esh-baal smiled and giggled with a little hint of pity for her friend. “It’s okay, hun, it’s still just the first half of the semester. Not the end of the world.” Esh-baal gulped when Naomi lifted her head only to shoot her a bitter glare.
“You got B minus, Eve got C plus. Before this, you got A minus and Eve got B. The highest I’ve got is C minus,” she grumbled before returning to wallow in sadness.
“I thought you’d know about the pop-up quizzes ahead of us all. Huh, looks like Mr. Stroud keeps all of his tests a secret even from his own niece. You’d think, considering how much he coddles you, he’ll give you a certain advantage,” Eve remarked, slowly crawling on top of Naomi, wrapping her lean, toned arms around her petite body. A tiny ‘oomph’ could be heard as she pressed her weight down the smallest member of the trio.
“Uncle doesn’t spoil me when it comes to my school performance. It’s the exact opposite of that. Also, Eve, you’re crushing me...”
“Can’t you ask him to give you a private tutoring? He should know that maths aren’t your strongest, and he’s our math teacher.”
“He’s always so tired every day when he gets home, I feel bad asking him to tutor me… I also...said to him that I can handle it on my own.”
“Which you apparently can’t,” Esh-baal added, much to Naomi’s chagrin. The petite girl whimpered again at her defeat. Esh-baal rubbed her puffy blond hair again. “It’s almost midterms, but I’m sure there’s more than enough time for you to study harder.”
Flinging Eve off, Naomi launched herself to Esh-baal’s arms, wailing even more. “Help meeee!” she whined.
“I can’t! You never focus when we study together! This test is a solid proof of that!”
   “That’s not true!”
“Yes, it is! We came to your house to study, but you were more focused on baking and you keep shoving us all your delicious cakes, and then we ended up only studying half of it because we fell asleep from eating too much!” Esh-baal vented, which was a surprise for everyone, including herself. She cleared her throat, not proud of her outburst.
“You don’t like my cakes?” Naomi asked, her eyes on the verge of tearing up. The thought of her best friend not liking what she made has the potential to destroy her world.
“That’s not—Naomi!” Esh-baal growled. “My point is that I can’t be hard on you to actually become your tutor! I’m weak to your cooking and I tend to sacrifice my gymnast diet for your things!”
“Oh,” Naomi squeaked, before she giggled from embarrassment. “I get it. That’s okay, Esh-baal. I guess I just have to try harder for midterms. I’m just really glad you don’t hate my cooking.” She snuggled into her Latina friend and Esh-baal could only hug back, letting Eve giggle sinisterly at her, mouthing ‘weak’ to tease her about her inability to resist Naomi’s weakening charms.
Still, despite knowing Esh-baal still loves her cooking, Naomi was still worried about her own academic future. Her uncle had given her many warnings about her scores, not just for maths, but other subjects too (most of them contained some sort of mathematical formulae as well), yet no matter how hard she tried, she kept getting okay to low scores. She was by no means incompetent—her scores on language and culture-based subjects reached the A’s—but when it comes to numbers, she was powerless. Numbers are so precise, uncompromisable, unlike language that as long as you make your intentions clear, regardless if you are using the wrong tenses, others can still understand.
She planned to continue lamenting her less than impressive score to lunch, much to her friends’ concern, as they made their way to the cafeteria. Esh-baal and Eve tried their damnedest to cheer her up; their best jokes worked, Naomi laughed along, but after the laughter died down and she saw her low score again, she went back to whining. The easily frustrated Eve took a deep breath and slammed her hand on the table.
“Okay, you walnut, what if instead of crying about your stupid test, I’ll just—” she snatched Naomi’s test and waved it above her own head, “—throw this away and you can forget your sorrows!” She grinned raising her arms up so Naomi couldn’t reach out and take back her test.
“Eve! Give it back! My uncle will kill me if I lose it!”
“But it only gives you suffering and pain! I’m doing you a favor here!” Eve retorted while laughing. Naomi got up from her seat, intending to climb her tallest best friend, but Eve caught up to her scheme and stood up too. The girls ended up merry-go-rounding their lunch table, making a humorous scene to see by students in the cafeteria. Esh-baal, the only sane one, sighed and continued eating, pretending not to be affiliated with neither of these two blokes.
Naomi caught her friend, locking her waist with one arm while the other reached out to grab her test paper, but Eve raised it even higher, using her height advantage. She also poked Naomi on her armpit, causing the smaller blonde to yelp and retract her arm. Naomi’s reaction became more feral and she straight up hopped onto Eve, clinging to her like a baby monkey. The sudden weight shift caused Eve to lose her balance; she had to both move her legs to stop herself from falling and also wrap her arms around Naomi so she wouldn’t drop her. In the rush of panic, she absentmindedly released the test paper. “Oh shit!” she exclaimed, while staggering to find her balance.
The test paper landed on the floor, but soon found itself salvaged by another person who was walking towards the trio. Asa took a moment to study the piece of paper the girls were making a fuss about and the first thing he saw was the giant red D at the top. “Jeez, this is one shitty score…” he muttered to himself.
Naomi squeaked and hopped off her friend, much to her relief, to rush and snatched her test from Asa’s hand while he hadn’t thought of joining Eve in her mischief. “That’s my poopy score, thank you very much!”
“Math’s not your strongest suit, huh?” he asked, watching her face redden with embarrassment.
“Like you’re any better?” Naomi grumbled. “Here, tell me the answer for number seventeen in less than five minutes!” She held her test up to his face and Asa began looking at it.
He was silent for a moment, yet his fingers moved faintly as if he was writing something. Naomi looked up to the nearest wall clock to see on which direction the minute hand will point to in five minutes, but Asa had already spoken. “X equals thirty-two. You kind of mixed the equations up here.”
“Huh?!” Naomi buried her face into her test paper, before lifting it up again seconds later. “I don’t get it. How do you do it?” Asa opened his mouth and started explaining, but even after his little correction, Naomi was still left with a blank look on her face. Mathematics really is her ultimate weakness.
“It’ll probably be better if I can write the solution down,” the tall boy rubbed the back of his head.
“Um, maybe not now. My head’s on fire…” Naomi put her test paper down on the table, next to her water bottle. “So, what brings you here?”
“Oh! Oh yeah, I almost forgot…” Asa handed over a small paper bag with rope handles to the smaller junior. “I come to return this to you.”
Naomi accepted his offering and checked inside the bag. It was her lunchbox she gave him on the first day of school. She must have forgotten about it after the commotion that ensued during lunchtime. “Oh, thanks!”
“It took you until almost midterms to return it to her?” Esh-baal teased him with a sneer on her face. Her words definitely had a sharp point to their ends as Asa stiffened in place.
“Ignore her. I don’t mind at all,” Naomi interjected. She opened the lunchbox, inspecting it. “You even cleaned it up.”
“Of course. Can’t leave a greasy lunchbox unwashed for days. Thanks, again, for the food. I...finished the rest at home.”
“No worries. I’m just glad you like it.” She continued to look up at him while the boy looked around in awkward silence. Esh-baal and Eve had started to eye him cautiously while packing up their lunchboxes, but he was saved by the bell, signaling the students to return to their classes. Asa immediately turned on his heels to walk away, but Naomi, for some reason stopped him. “Hold on, our classes are next to each other. Let’s go back together.”
Naomi’s friends shifted their eyes to her, silently judging her for even suggesting something like that. Did she not heed their warnings at the beginning of the year? Did she forget? That’s very likely she forgot. Asa also seemed apprehensive, but his best reply was, “Whatever,” which, for Naomi, was as good a confirmation as any. She skipped to his side, following his large strides to their neighboring classrooms.
Asa tried to avoid her gaze, which glued to him like a tree sap. He spotted Jen in the hallway and immediately zoomed his way to her. “What’s that you carryin’, Jen?” he approached her, with a firm tap on her shoulder.
“Last week’s test from Mr. Stroud. And, hey, look,” she hugged the rest of the pile of papers while flapping the topmost one to her classmate, “this one’s yours.”
Hearing Jen mention the name of the teacher and seeing Asa taking a peek of his score, Naomi rushed to follow them. Asa may be holding his test as close as possible to his chest, but the giant single letter did not escape her sight. “No way! A plus?!” she screeched, much to Jen’s surprise. Asa just started to redden around the cheeks.
“The fuck?!” Now both Esh-baal and Eve rushed towards them as well.
“I got one question wrong,” he tried to dispute them.
“One wrong out of thirty! Are you kidding me?!” Eve took a deep breath, for once trying to be the calm one. “This has to be a one-time thing, right? Heheh, Mr. Stroud makes killer tests, really difficult, even the best kid in our class only got A.”
Both Asa and Jen were silent and simply exchanged gazes with each other. Jen muttered something to him and Asa sighed and nodded to her. “Actually...he never got lower in maths,” Jen, after receiving permission from her friend, spoke. “We’ve only been friends for a couple of years, not as long as Kenji or even his bros, but as far as I know, he conquers anything with numbers. Except musical numbers, haha!”
Naomi’s head felt almost exploding. Asa was a complete opposite of her when it comes to maths. She was terrible and he was an ungodly force able to conquer the most difficult of number puzzles. Imagine having the brain capacity to do that! Imagine having that much power! It was difficult to fathom!
Adrenaline injected itself into her bloodstream and completely out of the blue, with a strength that god knows came from where, Naomi’s slim, short fingers gripped Asa’s sleeves, like a panicked cat about to be plunged into a bathtub of cold water it so feared. Her emerald eyes shone intensely, jabbing straight into his brown eye and the blank prosthetic that made his right eye. “Please tutor me!” she exclaimed, practically yelling, in the middle of the hallway.
“Huh?!” Asa yelped, taken aback by the sudden fierceness displayed by this small underclassman.
“It’s almost midterms, and my grades aren’t getting better, and I’m desperate, and, and—” she shook his arms, which also caused the rest of his body to waver, “I really need a tutor, like, badly! I barely managed to pass last year’s math, I don’t think I can’t do this year without a gajillion remedials and probably repeating a year or two. Please, please, please!”
“Okay, okay!” Asa yanked his arms off of her hands with strength that easily overpowered hers. “I get it! Just, for Chrissakes, calm down a little.”
“Sorry…” Naomi shrunk, her rush of adrenaline and energy dissipated, turned to change the color of her cheeks. “So...will you...tutor me? Doesn’t have to be every day…”
“Saturday. Public library. 10 A.M. I’ll wait for you there,” Asa said quickly, with a face so deadpanned.
   Naomi’s eyes widened. “Really?”
   “Don’t be late, ‘kay?”
“Okay! Thanks so much!” she beamed, clasping her hands in front of her chest in a wash of glee and relief. She turned to Eve and Esh-baal, squealing and whooping, while Asa and Jen returned to their class, with Jen making a smug face and a witty remark about how soft Asa was. A remark that Asa shut off by being grumpy.
Esh-baal lead her friends into their class. “Whatever happened to not getting too chummy with them? Did you forget already?” she asked Naomi as they sat down on their tables which were fortunately neighboring to each other.
“It’s just tutoring, shouldn’t be a big deal. You guys can come too, if you’re that concerned.” Since the teacher hadn’t come yet, Naomi used this opportunity to turn her chair facing Esh-baal.
Esh-baal sighed and opened her phone. “I’d like too, but my cousin’s getting married this weekend so I can’t hang out even if I want to. Eve? You?”
“Goin’ camping with my folks. Guess we just have to trust Naomi to take care of herself.” Eve leaned forward and poked Naomi several times on her forehead.
Her treatment made the little one pout, her cheeks puffed as she swatted Eve’s finger away from her facial area. “Stop babying me! I can take care of myself! Look, okay, if he does something shady to me, I’ll call. Look, you guys’ numbers are in my favorites!” Naomi shoved her phone’s screen, still locked, but on a page that displayed a list of quick-dial numbers she saved. Indeed, both of their numbers were listed, so were her uncle’s and the local emergency hotline.
“Good. And don’t be afraid to kick him in the nuts either.”
Naomi shook her head, giggling, just as the teacher came in. She turned her chair around and took out her notes and her textbook. The day went on as usual. She was weirdly excited, looking forward to the weekends. Maybe this year, she will at last conquer her weakness of numerical puzzle problems.

A Human’s Curse
Sequel to The Accursed Scritches.
Long gone the days where I turned into black goop every time I was touched with just a tiny ounce of affection. After weeks—months—of you petting me and nuzzling my snout, which you keep insisting to call ‘the snoot’, I have become hardened. Sometimes you lament my lack of melting and you made it your life’s mission to make me turn into goop again.
Did that ever work out, I wonder? So I ask you, without sounding too…eager to know.
“Eh, I guess I failed,” you answer. Your voice express disappointment, but your face beams, a smile stretches across your pale skin. I see that you mean to have a little laugh, but your entire body already discomforts you before you even made a sound. You have never been able to laugh freely anymore since your body started to fight against you.

The Knight's Atonement - CHAPTER 5 (on Wattpad)
A tyrannical witch descended from her home, hungering for more power than she already had possessed, rallying demons as her allies, and pillaging numerous villages in a raid to form her own kingdom. In the village she raided the last, a young teenager named Asa made a deal with her and became her right hand man.
Seven years later, Asa was sent to kidnap Princess Naomi of Grand Espoir. Being kidnapped is never a good thing, so naturally Naomi grew a strong grudge against the dark mage-knight. However, her journey with him as a hostage opened her eyes to matters outside the borders of her kingdom and her character stirred the change of heart Asa very much needed. Asa needs to remember what is good for him and Naomi needs to remember what being a princess really means.

The One-eyed Upperclassman | Part 2
Summary: Naomi feels that she owe her savior something, so she makes her something special for him while also getting along with his group.
The long break between new academic years was a lot of fun, but never had it felt so long that it drove Naomi impatient. Usually she dreaded going to school, although hanging out with her friends was fun, the math and science lessons were of the top of her worries. Now that she was entering tenth grade, she can only smell the difficulty of those two subjects spiking dramatically. But ever since that day, ever since she encountered that one-eyed upperclassman, she was actually waiting for school to start again.
She packed two boxes of lunch that morning. She made sure her food tasted good, decent at least. It tasted fine on her tongue, but she feared it was only fine for her. When Esh-baal came to pick her up—her house was nearby—Naomi shoved a spoonful into her mouth. “Please try it! Is it good?”
Despite almost choking on the spoon, she managed to chew and swallow the food Naomi so desperately wanted her to try. “It’s great. Would be awesome if you didn’t force it down my throat, though.”
“Oops. Heheh… But I’m glad you like it.” She went back to her packed lunches and put them in the bag.
“Can I have some too?” Esh-baal took out her own lunchbox and Naomi gave her as much as her friend needed. “Alright, let’s hurry before the first bell rings.”
The new academic year started without much issues. Kazuo was back, but he didn’t try to do anything. He, in fact, sort of avoided Naomi, probably because Eve was always nearby. Eve is a big girl, the tallest girl in her class. With her height and her well-known possession of red belt in taekwondo, she easily intimidated those who meant harm to her friends or herself. Naomi’s impatience grew thinner the closer the time got to lunch time, and when the bell rang, she excitedly grabbed her lunch bag.
“Naomi, hold on!” called out Esh-baal. Seeing her small friend disappear outside caused her to rush to follow her.
Naomi looked around the hallway, wondering where the eleventh grade’s classroom was. She remembered last time he mentioned that their class was nearby and just when she figured out which one it was, the people she was expecting walked out of their class. She recognized some of them from the time they confronted Kazuo, most notably the tall dark-skinned one. Following him closely was the one-eyed boy, without the bandages this time, exposing a huge scar around his blind eye. She followed them, just as Eve and Esh-baal caught up to her. She called, “Hey, wait up!”
“Naomi, what are you doing? Where are you going?” Esh-baal asked with exasperation in her voice. “Did you forget your way around school? Cafetaria’s not on the roof!” Yet, the little blonde did not hear her.
“Wait!” Naomi called out again, this time catching the attention to one of the boys of the group, a Japanese with a black hair that was tied on the back. His face was disinterested at first, until he paid attention to the face of the caller. He even went as far as grabbing the one-eyed boy’s sleeve.
“Hey, you’re that girl!” he said, a smile growing on his face. Once he spoke, all of his friends turned around to look at Naomi. At the sudden attention from the group plus some passing students, Naomi became somewhat self-conscious and her cheeks reddened. “What’s up?” he asked, giving Naomi his attention while his friends looked on with little to no interest.
Naomi was nervous, but she refused to back away. She had been waiting all day, after all. “Uh, I just, uh… Can we sit with you?” Naomi peeped, much to her friends’ horror.
“We?” Eve whispered intensely, “Girl, are you crazy?!”
The one-eyed boy definitely saw the unease written all over Esh-baal and Eve’s face and simply groaned. The dark-skinned one and the Japanese boy both elbowed him. “Yeah. Sure. Do whatever you want,” he muttered with disinterest, and continued climbing the stairs to the roof.
The Japanese boy walked down to approach Naomi while also keeping his distance from her, not wanting to be left behind by his friends. “Don’t mind him, he tends to be grumpy, but he ain’t bad. Also, hi, I’m Kenji, nice to meet you.” The boy named Kenji gave a wide smile, one that caused Naomi’s friends to tense up.
“I’m Naomi. These are Esh-baal and Eve,” Naomi replied, oblivious to her friends’ tension. “We never sat on the rooftop before. It’s usually occupied by the seniors.”
“Yeah, well, we’re the seniors now, basically. There’re only like ten-something people in the twelfth grade and they’re really...reclusive, kinda? They only hang out with each other, that’s what I mean. But that’s good news ‘cuz that means we get to occupy the rooftop. Pretty much our HQ since last year.”
Kenji kindly guided the girls to the rooftop with a smile, before leaving them for his crowd once they reached the rooftop. He sat next to the one-eyed boy and waved at the girls to come and sit with them.
Naomi and her friends took a moment to study the place. It was blanketed with sunlight, the edges of the building was guarded by hard-weaved wire fences to keep students from falling, and large potted plants standing on every corner to spruce up the place. There were a few tables with wide metal roof to shield anyone who sits from harsh sunlight or rain shower. Three of them were occupied by Kenji and his group. “Guys, say hello to Naomi, Eve, and Esh—uh...Eschel?”
“It’s Esh-baal,” the owner of the name corrected, slightly annoyed but understanding.
“Ah, yeah, my bad,” Kenji chuckled.
“Already cozying yourself with the new girls, huh, Kenji?” remarked a red-haired girl, sipping her boxed Thai tea from a straw.
Kenji pouted at her, “Not everybody wants to be forever known as ‘the scary Viking chick’ like you, Sonja.” Then he turned to the girls again. “Well, don’t let her scare you. Sit down.”
“Right. But, um, actually…” Naomi approached the one-eyed boy. Suddenly, she became a bit nervous. She shyly took out one of the lunchboxes out of her bag and handed it to him. Already the gesture caused Kenji and his dark-skinned friend beamed, mouth opened but no sound coming out of it yet. “I wanna thank you, um, for helping me back then. So...I made you my own homemade lunch!”
Suddenly Kenji and the dark-skinned boy howled, slapping the one-eyed boy on his back. “Asa has a faaaaaaaan!” he slung a thick arm around the one-eyed boy—evidently named Asa—and patting his chest with a huge grin on his face.
Asa pushed his arm off, his face slightly tinted pink from his friends’ embarrassing howling. He turned his head, coyly, to Naomi. “What if I already have my own lunch?”
“You idiot!” Kenji yelled, startling him yet again. “Don’t be rude! It’s a thank-you lunch, accept it! You can share it with me or Grim if it’s too much food for you, which, let’s be real. You eat like a pig, quantity-wise. That tiny lunch box is a snack.”
Asa sighed and humbly accepted Naomi’s gift of homemade lunch. “You shouldn’t have done this. But...thanks. For the...thank-you gift.” He meant to keep the lunch box unopened, but once again Kenji urged him, coupled with his own common decency. This girl had made the effort to cook lunch and pack it especially for him, because he did a small thing a few months ago that apparently meant a lot to her.
“Come on, eat something,” the dark-skinned boy called Grim whispered with much urgency.
Asa sighed deeply and took a spoonful of Naomi’s food. It looked pretty, very carefully coordinated, the rice in the middle was square-shaped with the meat, vegetables, and fried tofu organized surrounding it. The smell was also mouth-watering. This food was too good to be unappreciated and wasted. He brought the spoon and its content into his mouth, the flavor instantly melting in his mouth.
“So how is it?” asked Naomi. Asa yelped in surprise, finding her already sitting beside him, where Grim was. Grim quietly invited Naomi to sit next to Asa while the one-eyed boy was still entranced by her food, while Esh-baal and Eve were invited to sit with the girls of the group.
     “It’s uh…”
“It’s not good, is it?” she laughed, with a subtle tinge of disappointment.
“No! It’s—it tastes fine! Good!” Asa interjected, seeing how she seemed to be discouraged.
And it would appear his words helped; she beamed and was practically shining. “Oh, that’s a relief! I don’t know what you like so I just made the most basic thing.” She took out her own lunchbox and started eating with him. She had the same food as the one she gave to him, except she prepared some brownie squares for dessert. Asa continued eating the lunch she gave him interchangeably with the lunch he brought from home, and while everyone else conversed as they ate, Asa was silent. “Huh, I didn’t expect you to be a shy, quiet type. You were really forward when you confronted Kazuo.”
Asa blushed slightly and couldn’t answer. Instead, Grim spoke on his behalf. “He’s only forward when he’s being rude and threatening someone,” he sneered, much to Asa’s annoyance. “But when he has nice things to say, he’s all flustered and shit. Which is backwards.” Grim giggled, causing Asa to swing a foot to kick him lightly on the shin. Naomi could tell the two were close.
Naomi and her friends were soon introduced to the whole group. Asa was the leader of the group. Grim was apparently short for Grimoaldo and he turned out to be Asa’s brother, younger by two months, both were adopted. Kenji had been friends with the brothers since eighth grade, after Asa helped him defended his little sister from bullies. Besides Kenji, there was another boy, named Mars, who joined the group in ninth grade after Asa and his friends defended his autistic younger brother. The girls were already friends before they joined. They were Sonja, Ulva, and Jen. The girls first befriendment with the male half of the group was less poetic; instead of having anything related to defense against bullying, they simply were placed in a group for a science project the whole semester last year and apparently they all clicked. So much that Mars and Ulva started dating last summer.
Naomi’s eyes were all sparkles and stars the entire time they told their first time stories. Such a large and interesting group of friends, and they seemed like really nice people. What impressed her the most was that most of them met through bullying. She noticed the expression on Esh-baal and Eve’s faces changed as they listened to them talking. They were really tense before, now they seemed to have softened. Things to have sailed quite smoothly until the laughters were interrupted by an abrupt slam from the door to the rooftop.
Everybody’s heads whisked to the source of the slamming, where a Caucasian boy with a light blond hair was hunching down panting, presumably from running up the stairs in a hurry. Naomi didn’t know who he was, but she could recall seeing his face in the year below her. The older students, however, seemed to know him. Grim approached him, placing a warm hand on his shoulder. “Folke? What’s wrong, buddy? Take a deep breath.”
“I can’t! You guys need to help! I was in the bathroom, Glovar was there too, a-a-and then these guys come up to him and start pushing him around. I got out but he’s still in there!” the boy named Folke stammered in sheer panic, his face drenched in sweat from both the running and panicking, hands pulling at Grim’s arms in a desperate attempt to bring help to his friend still trapped in the men’s bathroom.
Grim started to sweat a little too, his forehead scrunched as the worry infected him as well. He threw a quick look at Asa who, the moment he heard Folke stammering about this boy named Glovar, immediately hopped out of his seat, leaving his lunchbox and the one Naomi gave open and unfinished. Naomi was startled by how quick he moved, outpacing the others as he hurried downstairs. Kenji and Mars were also quick to follow their leader, but the others were given more time. Grim, while visibly worried, was in no hurry to follow his brother. He instead opted to remain on the tables and guarded the guys’ lunchboxes and helped Folke rest and calm himself down. The friendly air turned cold, Naomi wasn’t sure what to do about it.
“Is everything going to be okay?” she squeaked.
Grim blinked quickly and chuckled forcefully. “Yeah, you don’t have to worry. It’s gonna be over soon, I guaran—”
A collective scream from numerous people erupted downstairs, heard from both the rooftop entrance and out of the windows downstairs, giving Naomi, Esh-baal, and Eve a mini heart attack. More shouting came from the windows, a masculine voice, clearly sounding afraid and threatened.
“Holy shit, he’s really going all out, isn’t he?” Sonja spoke, standing up to peer over the wire fences to where the shouting came from. She and her friends appeared much less panicked as the others, as if they had no worry in them at all.
“Um, what’s really going on?” Eve asked, imitating Sonja peering over the fences.
     “The usual,” she simply answered.
“I will go check. Watch over my things?” Naomi stood up and walked downstairs, following the source of the commotion. The closer she got, the more her stomach felt churning. She soon spotted a bunch of girls from other classes gathering in the hallway, creating a wall of human flesh that blocked her from what was going on. She tried jumping, but Naomi’s height and lack of lower body strength could not help her see. So she had no choice but squeeze between the crowd, only to come out to Asa holding another boy with his body halfway outside the window.
“Lemme go! Dammit, lemme go!” the boy screamed, hands clawing at Asa’s arm trying to desperately save himself. His eyes widened, spine shivering whenever he saw what was below, realizing that the school building was taller than it looked despite being only three storeys tall.
“Oh, sure. I’ll let you go and let you fall to your death, you piece of shit!” Asa growled, shaking and further pushing him out the window. The knee bends were the only thing still kept the boy in Asas hands hanging onto the building. It showed how much strength Asa has for being able to hold a person like that with relative ease.
Naomi looked around; she remembered Kenji and Mars following Asa, so where were they? She spotted Mars, holding down two other boys beneath him all by himself. He had their arms behind their back. Kenji was nowhere to be seen.
“What do you want, man! You got no business with that blue prick!” the threatened boy wailed, still holding on to Asa’s wrists, in case he planned on letting go with him still dangling by the window with only his knees.
“That ‘blue prick’ is my brother and as an older sibling, that makes your business with him my business! If there’s anyone who should be asking, it’s me! Now what do you fucking want with him?!” The last question was asked in a roar. Naomi swore she could see his veins bulging from under his skin, his brown skin turned slightly darker as he went red with rage.
“Just havin’ fun, dude! Chill out!”
“Well, I’m having fun too, what about that? Does this feel fun to you, dipshit? Does it?!” Asa pushed the boy again further out that he started to cry and beg in his hold. The crowd around them were heard gasping and muttering in worry if the tall eleventh grader would seriously drop the other student, but nobody had the courage to intervene. Nobody, until a teacher came in.
She was a tall and lanky woman, with long silky dark brown hair that were mostly swept to her right side. She teaches English and the social studies, as well as the eleventh grade’s homeroom teacher. She was far from the type of person everyone expected to break up fights, but there she was, approaching one of her homeroom students, who was also taller than her, and placed a hand gently on his shoulder. “Asa, that is enough,” she said. Her voice was eerily calm. “Pull him back in. Come on.”
Asa gritted his teeth, but it was apparent that his aggression had been stopped by the teacher. His arms, however, still hadn’t moved. He had to get a message across. “I don’t care what business you have with my brother, but if I see your ugly mug around him again, I will throw you off a bridge, I swear to fucking god.”
“Asa,” the teacher interjected again, her voice firmer.
He pulled the other student in, granting him mercy from falling off the building, and just dropped him to the floor like a bag. Mars let go of his friends before the teacher told him to and the three of them started scurrying back to class. The teacher started telling the surrounding students to go back to their lunches before the bell rings. The crowd dispersed, though some male students were more reluctant to move, curious what would happen now that the fighting died down. Naomi also did not move; she needed to know what happened.
Mars poked his head into the men’s bathroom. “Hey, how’s it going in there?” he asked.
From inside, Kenji’s voice bounced out. “We’re okay. He’s okay. We’re coming out now.” And not long after, Kenji came out of the bathroom with a non-human boy beside him. He has blue skin, snowy white hair, and two horns on his forehead. His eyes possessed an eerie coloring: yellow pupils surrounded by black sclera. His face had black lines etched from under his eyes down his cheeks and another one on his forehead between his horns rectangular-shaped.
People from outside the planet living among them was not a strange concept; it has been part of the history for a couple hundred of years. She had seen creatures much stranger than this blue-skinned boy, but still he was unique to her, despite having a very humanoid shape to him. He was the first of his kind she had ever seen. And apparently, he is the younger brother of this famously tall upperclassman that she had given lunch to earlier.
“Stop coddling me, I’m fine,” said the blue-skinned boy whose name, Naomi recalled, was Glovar. A paper towel was shoved into one of his nostrils and one could spot some red on the paper towel in his nose.
“You’re really lucky that you only got a bleeding nose out of that,” Kenji remarked. He smacked Glovar’s hand when he tried to pull the paper towel out. “Leave that be! You’ll spill blood everywhere! We need to get you to the nurse.”
     “I don’t need—”
“Glo, just do what he says,” Asa interjected. He and the teacher both stared at Glovar, emphasizing the order with their gaze as well.
“Alright, fine.” Glovar grumbled but complied. He allowed Kenji guide him to the nurse’s office, leaving Naomi, Mars, and Asa with the teacher.
The teacher and Asa started talking with each other. “Asa,” she said, her voice much calmer and softer now, “you do know I have no choice but to take action on this.” Naomi wanted to listen in, but Mars tugged her out of the scene. She only managed to overhear, “I expect to see you in the principal’s office,” before the conversation faded the further she walked away.
Naomi never saw Asa again after that commotion, but she was later properly introduced to Glovar and Folke, the youngest members of the group, both being in the grade below Naomi’s. However, the atmosphere had changed too much then; the group became less interested in conversing with Naomi and her friends, being more focused on their own members that, unbeknownst to them, they started to neglect the girls and growing distant. Naomi, Esh-baal, and Eve couldn’t help the growing distance; it must have been a trying time for them.
Still, that did not stop Naomi from trying to maintain communication with them. At the end of the school day, she made her way to the principal’s office, where she found both Grim and Glovar outside of the office. Grim spotted Naomi standing in the corner and waved at her with a grin, Glovar following but with much less enthusiasm. Naomi tiptoed her way to them, her friends following behind her, and sat next to Grim.
“How’s things going?” she asked, keeping her voice down.
“The school had to call our parents and the other kids’ parents, and Pa is currently inside with Asa right now. It got almost hot, but it’s calmer now,” Grim answered, keeping a wry smile on his face. “Sorry you gotta see him blow up like that. Though, if you’ve been around this school since seventh grade, you should’ve known shit like this went off every once in a while. Well, maybe not so much in the beginning, but lately…”
“You mean, this isn’t the first time he’s been called to the principal’s office?”
“Nope,” both brothers answered. “And definitely won’t be the last. Not with that temper,” Glovar added.
“Speak for yourself, Glo, you’re even worse.”
“Oh…” Naomi twiddled her fingers. “I...I know there’s been a lot of fighting lately, but I always stayed out of the gossip. Violence makes me uncomfortable…”
“If that’s the case, then you shouldn’t be getting too close to us,” Grim said, his expression much somber, but his thick dark lips remained smiling. “I’m not much of a fighter either. Even earlier I didn’t jump in, even though it was my own brother that got beaten up. Sometimes I help stopping Asa from throwing his fists, but only if I can manage it. I get anxious when things get too heated. The only reason I stick around is because he’s my brother and also my best friend. I can’t leave him alone. But you...you have no relations to any of us, so it’s better you stay out. I don’t mean to be rude, but it’s just, well, if violence really makes you uncomfortable, then we’re not the folks you should be hanging around with.”
Naomi frowned but considered his words. While she was deep in thought, Esh-baal took her hand. “Let’s go home, Naomi. It’s getting late. Shouldn’t you be making dinner for you and your uncle?”
“Oh, right…” Naomi stood, but rising slowly. Her emerald eyes exchanged gazes with Grim, who smiled at her again. She wanted to say something, but didn’t find her words. She followed Esh-baal’s tugging on her hand and soon left the brothers behind her. Soon they were out of the school area, her taller friends on both of her sides.
“Naomi,” Esh-baal began, snapping her out of her thoughts, “I think Grim’s right. We shouldn’t talk to them anymore.”
Naomi’s head whisked to the redhead, eyes widened. “But…”
“Yeah,” Eve added, “In history class earlier, I saw the video of what happened, a kid in our class got it recorded. It’s awful, Naomi. I know Asa’s defending his brother, but did you see the way he’s threatening that other guy? If he’s got slippery fingers, someone could die!”
Esh-baal nodded, agreeing to what the taller blonde said. “He also didn’t talk much during lunch and he doesn’t seem like he appreciated your cooking.”
“That’s not true. He said thanks to me,” Naomi retorted, though her voice shrinking in volume.
“Yeah, but Kenji and Grim had to push him to take your gift,” Esh-baal argued back. “At first, he didn’t even want to look at it. Being shy and awkward is fine, but he wasn’t just shy and awkward, he downright looked uncomfortable having us around. Look, the gang seems pretty cool, but I can tell they’re a bad crowd. You’re too nice to hang out with them, hun.”
Naomi felt heavy in the chest. She felt she was forming a new friendship in her new year of school, but so soon it had to be taken from her. She understood why, but her heart wanted to rebel, but should she let it? Or should she listen to what the others told her to do? Maybe tomorrow she could give another chance to think. Maybe she needed some time to see how things will turn up…
There’s a possibility that everyone is wrong about this...

The One-eyed Upperclassman | Part 1
Summary: Naomi is a ninth grader about to graduate to the tenth grade. But in her final months as a middle schooler, a group of gross classmates decides it’ll be funny to mess with her. While she expected her friends to come to her aid, who actually comes is one she never expected.
“I honestly almost don’t recognize you, girl,” Eve said, eye squinting, while ruffling her best friend’s newly cut hair. Naomi simply laughed as her friend’s fingers combed through her soft golden locks, but Eve was not laughing. “Why do you have to cut them off?! Such a shame! We used to be twinnies!”
The ruffling turned into squishing and Naomi squealed, struggling to get her friend’s strong hands off of her face. “Gah! Eve, stop it! I know, I know! I’m ugly now!” she squealed as she squirmed out of Eve’s grasp, but her friend was so much stronger than her that as soon as she escaped, she caught her right after.
“Oh no, no. You’re still cute. Cuter, actually, but I’m just sad you’re not so much my shorter twin anymore.” Finally, she let her smaller friend go, with much chagrin. Naomi’s hair used to be long just like her. They were both blonde with a lot of volume, like a male lion’s mane. But now her friend decided to cut that gorgeous mane-like golden locks into a pixie cut.
“Aw… There, there, big girl. I’ll still be your baby sister, if you want me to.” Naomi hugged her pouty friend, only to be interrupted by their other girl friend. A copper-skinned girl with red hair crossed her arms and sneered playfully at them.
“Alright, you lovebirds, let’s go home already. I can’t wait to try the toga already.”
The three of them stopped messing around and started walking together. Naomi positioned herself between her two much taller friends. “I don’t get why we need to wear the toga,” Eve huffed, “We’d still be going to the same building anyways, just on the different side. On the same floor as our last classroom.”
“It’s just formality. Technically we’d be graduating middle school. It’s just that our school has both middle and high school in one building. I agree that it’s kinda...pointless.”
“I think it’s pretty neat that we still get to wear a toga,” Naomi chimed in, a big smile on her face. But the smile disappeared all of sudden as she stopped in her tracks. She quickly opened her bag and put a hand in, searching for something. “Oh shoot! My toga! Oh no, I have to get it! Wait here!” And she ran off back to the school building, not hearing her friends protesting.
She was spry and quite fast for someone who was mostly bottom heavy, she reached her classroom within minutes. She went over to her desk and found that her forgotten toga plus the hat were still inside the compartment, much to her relief. She took out a foldable shopping bag out of her school bag and put her toga set in it for easy carrying. Not wanting her friends to be waiting too long, she headed out as soon as she could, but her face bumped someone the moment she stepped out of the classroom.
“Ow! Sorry, I was in a…” Naomi lost her words as she saw who she bumped into. Not a serial killer or anything, but it was Kazuo, the popular guy in her class whom Esh-baal and Eve often refer to as ‘Royal Dickness’, due to how many times he liked to pull pranks on girls. Naomi had been one of his prime targets since the beginning in the seventh grade, but she was blessed that two of the most athletic and fearless girls in her class became her best friends and also bodyguards. But they were not here at the moment and Kazuo was aware of that. She decided it was best that she be quick and escaped. “Sorry, I need to go home. Sorry.”
“Aw, come on. Don’t rush,” Kazuo cooed following her closely. His friends were right behind him. “Stay and talk for a while, will ya?”
“Don’t have time gotta go,” she muttered hurriedly as she went down the stairs. Kazuo and his friends were still following her, he even managed to catch her skirt from behind and flapped it open, much to her surprise. They all laughed hearing her squeak, almost losing her balance on the stairs, her face red from embarrassment. In her panic to fix her uniform, one of Kazuo’s friends slid off the hand railings and landed right in front of her, blocking her way out while still laughing. “Guys, come on…” she plead, defeated with how outnumbered and overpowered she was against these boys.
“I just wanna talk. Don’t be so cold.” He walked over to Naomi, blocking her way out with his body. He shoved a knee between her legs, pushing her against the wall. “Cute panties you put on today, by the way,” he sneered. He cackled when Naomi’s face turned red again and she tried to avert her gaze from him. He didn’t care that she refused to make eye contact with him, his eyes were free to look at her however he wanted.
Naomi flinched feeling his fingers brushing her hair, its tips grazed lightly at the back of her neck. It disgusted her that he, of all people, was touching her this way. “I like your new haircut. Did you cut it just for me?” Kazuo opened his mouth again and his words further disgusted her. “I like it. Looks cute on you.”
“Oi, get a room!” another male voice interjected, ruining the sick, perverted vibe momentarily. Naomi encouraged herself to look up at who was interrupting and her heart sank to her stomach when she saw even more male students. They were wearing different uniform colors to the one she and Kazuo and his friends were wearing. High schoolers—their upperclassmen. One of them caught eye contact with the very nervous Naomi. “Whatchu guys doing with that girl?”
“We’re friends, jeez. Mind your own business, jackass!” Kazuo retorted at them. He didn’t care if they were his seniors; he’s the hottest shit in school, as far as he knew.
“Friends, huh? Well, then.” Another one of the male upperclassmen walked down the stairs, adamant to the thuggish group clogging the stairs. Naomi watched him walk towards her and Kazuo. The upperclassman was even taller; if it weren’t for the uniform, she would have mistaken him as a university student. His right eye along with a huge part of his face around it were covered in bandages. His one remaining eye gave a cold look down at Kazuo.
With one swift move, the upperclassman grabbed Kazuo by the shoulder, pulled him away, and pinned him to the wall. The taller student pinned him the same way Kazuo pinned Naomi, complete with the knee between the legs. He pushed his knee up so high Kazuo’s junk grinded against his pants, causing the class bully to squawk in terror. “What’s wrong? Isn’t this how you make friends?” the upperclassman teased, a smirk on his face. “Hey, you’re a ninth grader now, right? That means our class will be next to each other soon after y’all graduate. We should be buddies.”
“Fuh-fuck off, weirdo! I don’t wanna be buddies with freaks like you!” Kazuo shrieked, squirming in the upperclassman’s strong grip. The guy was stronger than he anticipated.
“What, why? Can’t stand a lil’ bit of guy-on-guy action? It’s okay, no homo, bro.” Then he paused and chuckled, his smirk widened to a sneer. “Okay, maybe a little bit homo on my side.”
“Fuck off!” Kazuo pushed harder, though this time, the older student relented. “Let’s get away from these freakshows, guys…” he grumbled, ushering his buddies to flee off the scene, leaving Naomi alone with the senior students. Some of them gave their seniors a bit of a stink eye, but were otherwise brushed off. The tall older student laughed, followed by his friends.
“What a wuss,” he muttered humorously to himself. His friends approached and stood around him, one with a dark skin, who was almost as tall as him, clapped him on the back.
“Nice work for not punching anyone in the face today, brother,” the dark-skinned boy chuckled. “Though the way you handle it this time is...uh…”
“What? I thought you’d be into it if you were in his shoes.”
The other boy opened his mouth, only to close it again. “Yeah, okay…”
Naomi watched the conversation going but her head was blank; she wasn’t sure how to stomach the situation. These older students so far were not messing with her, but they still huddled up around her. She hugged her bag, worried and afraid if part two of her bullying will soon ensue.
The boy with the bandages turned to her all of a sudden. “Hey, you okay?” he asked. Naomi flinched before he spoke, but when she took a moment to listen what he just said, then another moment to look around and realize the senior students were not going to mess with her, her fear subsided slightly.
“I’m...I’m okay. Thanks.” Her voice was meek and she was still hugging her bag. She encouraged herself to look up. And up. This tenth grader was ridiculously tall for his age. Her uncle have told her about male growth spurts, but seeing it in person was sort of intimidating. She ended up freezing, with eyes wide, looking like she was staring at him for an awkwardly long time.
The older student scowled and ran a hand over his bandages. “Grim, let’s go fetch Glovar and go home already,” he spoke quickly before leaving in a hurry. The dark-skinned student hurried after him, giving Naomi a quick farewell wave and a grin as he chased after the other. Their other friends followed suit, albeit not as in hurry as those two. They left Naomi on the stairs, confused. She wondered if she had done something wrong.
“Naomi!” called two overlapping voices, namely her friends, Eve and Esh-baal. They rushed to her sides, hugging and grabbing her shoulders with worry written all over their faces. They snapped Naomi out of her daze and bringing out a real sense of relief. She hugged them back, feeling completely safe now that they were here.
“We saw Kazuo and his gang on the way here,” Esh-baal began.
“We thought he might have done something to you. Well, did he? Do I have to kick a bitch in the nut?” Eve added, punching her own hand as if she was ready to hound Kazuo the moment she was given permission.
Naomi laughed them off. “I’m okay, you guys. Really. Eve, please don’t cause trouble.” Her friends looked at her for a moment and she had to convince them again. “Gosh, I said I’m fine! I got my toga, here!” She lifted the shopping bag up to show them. “Now let’s go home. I actually have a really cool story and I can’t wait to tell you guys about it!” She gleefully clung herself to Esh-baal’s arm and dragged her out of the school building, a big grin on her face. They passed a classroom where the group that Naomi met was in. Naomi could only give a passing glance, being more excited of going home.
They went to the same school. She was sure their paths will cross again in the near future.
