Overall the movie had no passion put into it and it showed. We had workers strikes in Disney and Hollywood as a whole and as a result instead of taking care of the workers Disney's CEO decided it was better to mass fire a lot of the animators forcing the remaining ones to be rushed for less pay. Artistic expression is dwindled when the artists' quality of life is burdened like this. People liked the concept art because you can tell actual care and thought was put into making a story and worldbuilding come to life. The songs were also rushed out as told by the songwriters that admitted they were not given any context of the story to write about. Tldr: corporate meddling makes bad movies and we've been pointing out this to Disney for a reason not because "hating on disney" is popular. Actually listen what is being said about the direction Disney is taking
Oh, I get it. I knew there were some things about Disney and animators but didn't know that was the thing, being much worse than what I thought. I'm not from the US so I don't really know if this went on the news or something but not where I live(and if it did, I really didn't know then, which is sorta my fault).
Help, I'm at a loss of words here. I feel sorry for all the artists and everything that's happened to them. I really didn't know about all that. Thanks for telling me that, anon.
I didn't really see any concept art for the movie, so all I saw was the final product and enjoyed more than I thought I would. It was fun to seek references throughout the movie, despite finding the story a little bit "more of the same", you know what I mean(hopefully), and feeling the characters only had one or two remarkable personality traits. But, now that you've mentioned it, that may be a consequence of all that the artists had to go through.
Thank you so much for your addition, anon!

Why is everyone hating on Disney's "Wish" so much?? Is it just where I live or an universal experience?
Like, ok, the villain is nothing but a control freak. Is that really all that we're seeing here?
Are we really ignoring the fact that they managed to mention *a lot* of Disney's old movies and some nice things?
TW: some spoilers ahead?
Also, feel free to add things or agree or disagree. I really want to understand why everyone is hating that movie so much. I'm not saying it's my favourite but I actually think there's some interesting stuff there.
The main friend group is formed of seven people, excluding Asha. Each of them reminds me of one of the seven dwarves from Snow White, except that the one who represents Dopey can talk. The short one even says "And they ask me why I'm grumpy!". He's clearly Grumpy.
Asha's grandpa, Sabino(?) is turning 100, just like the Disney company. And after the final credits roll, there's a scene of him playing "When you wish upon a star" on whatever instrument he plays(don't really know the name of it, sorry).
On one of the wishes, Aurora's dress can be clearly seen for a split second.
On another wish, we see Peter Pan flying around and soon after king Magnifico mentions Neverland. Later on, a guy NAMED PETER. WANTS TO BUILD A FLYING MACHINE. AND HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE PETER PAN. Coincidence? I think not.
They reference Tangled with the scene everyone is drawing on the ground with chalk.
Bambi! Bambi is in the movie! As an adult and he barely has 5 seconds of screen time? Yes, but it's still Bambi.
Asha's wish is... Guess what? Made upon a star. 🎵When you wish upon a star...🎵
Sleeping Beauty might also have been referenced when king Magnifico "trapped" everyone in that... Rose thorns looking magic. (It's either this or my mind is mixing Disney's version with the tale I read as a kid. Sorry.)
When Asha's trying to lure the king into the forest, she's given a small stick with some magic in it and is wearing something very similar to what Cinderella's fairy godmother wore. Later on, she receives an actual magic wand and is asked to become everyone's fairy godmother, and her clothes sparkle similarly to how Cinderella's ones did when her dress transformed.
Magnifico also mentions the Evil Queen from Snow White! (Not sure if this is the exact phrase but I'm pretty sure he said something similar) "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who in the land is the fairest of all?".
Valentino says something, by the end of the movie, that references to Zootopia (something along the lines of "A place where all mammals are the same. And wear clothes!").
The star does the Disney intro thing by the end of the movie(Castle on the background, the star... Y'know what I'm talking about. Hopefully.).
There might be other things I forgot to mention here and things I didn't notice. Also, I've only watched the movie once, in english, and it isn't even my mother tongue, so there might be some misunderstandings. Anyway, overall, I don't think the movie deserves all the hate it's getting. It's definitely not the best movie of all, but, honestly? It's not that bad.
Please forgive any mistakes 🙏 and help me understand whatever's happening because it doesn't make much sense to me.

OK I'M SORRY I HAD TO POST THIS SOMEWHERE BECAUSE I'M BOTH PROUD AND ASHAMED OF MY CREATION.
Like, I have this one character that belongs to a story that just so happens to be a part of um... Omegaverse... And... Let's get straight to the point he's an omega and he has a few children and OK I DREW A PREGNANT MAN AND I'M AFRAID OF IT BUT ALSO IN LOVE WITH IT. IT'S SO ADORABLE I WANT TO SQUISH HIM BUT IT FEELS SO WRONG
Please give me reasons to believe I'm either right or wrong
Here's my (adorable) pregnant man:
Tumblr media
Please don't judge me I am aware this can be... Controversial. And I am ashamed of it. And also in love because OOOH MY GOD HE LOOKS SO CUTE AAAAAAAA

A random 2am thought I had yesterday:
In many songs, when people are in love they say their world looks brighter. I once read that people's pupils expand when they see something they love. When pupils expand, more light gets in the eye and things look brighter. So this actually makes a lot of sense???

I present to you one of my boys
Idk why I'm posting this to be honest(I'm really questioning my life choices now)
Ok anyway this boy is 22y.o
He's the oldest of five siblings(yes, five)
He's usually a loner(mostly because he's lost his father, to whom he was very close, when he was 12 and he doesn't want to experience this kind of loss again.). He feels like losing a loved somebody (because of whatever reason) is one of the worst traumas a person could ever have to deal with, so he avoids people in order to not take the risk of getting himself attached to them and having to deal with the possibility of loss.
He keeps his distance from basically everyone, but whenever his family needs something he won't hesitate to help. His family is his nº 1 priority. The only thing he's sure he can rely on. And he makes sure his family knows it's mutual.
He likes:
Maths
To feel pretty sometimes
To be alone sometimes
His family
Cats & plants
Buns! Because his hair is kind of long
Coffee
He has a soft spot for his little sister because she reminds him of their father(she was born right after his death). He is smiley and bubbly around her.
He dislikes:
Intruders
Sports
Spiders
Summer
WHY IS THIS SO LONG I'M SURE IT'S NOT EVEN THAT INTERESTING
English is not my first language I hope you can understand everything-
Please correct any mistakes PLEEEASE I'M STILL LEARNING OKAY

Imagine Person A from your OTP is pregnant with B's baby, their first baby. The baby kicks suddenly.
Person A: B! B!
Person B: Hm? What's wrong, honey?
Person A: The baby kicked!
Person B: Do you think they'll kick again soon?
Person A: Maybe... Oh, I think they'll kick again, put your hand here!
*Person A places B's hand on their belly and the baby kicks. Person B feels, and their eyes start tearing up*
Person A: B? B, what- Are you crying?
Person B: The baby kicked my hand... MY BABY KICKED MY HAND!
*Person B starts crying even more*
Person A, hugging and comforting B: *Sighs* Aw honey...
Person A, mumbling: And they say that pregnant people are overemotional.
