Writing Drabble (9 — Character Study):

“The cruelty of mankind is a serpentine blade that bends and breaks when it forgets where it was crafted.”

The Sphinx spoke in a deep and grave tone, Greek accent ringing loud and clear—the lower of orange-tipped brown wings draped around her and to the floor like a cape, the subtle swing of a lion tail raking behind her, orange and glowing eyes narrowing into thin slits, her hands level to her chest as she held in her right hand the handle of a kopis sword… the edge weaning into her left palm in a flit of silver as her features for her human-like face were deep-set on it—menacing as she continued, “Always has it been where the act of not remembering one’s history leads to their untimely downfall; kingdom’s falling, civilizations laid to waste and forgotten, rebuilding only to crumble down time and time again.”

She turned with a sweep of the bottom of white fluttering around her—an Angel of Death in the garbs of holy colors, a white Greek dress with a belt made of leather with a sheath to boot, skin made of tufts of lion fur blending to skin around her neck, heavy sets of paws brushing the floor, her face human-like and pale… save for the downset nose like a cat’s, sleek eyes, and lines running from her lips and up her cheekbones revealing hidden muscle beneath, hair waves of feathers of orange bleeding to brown as her figure moved stealthily with each step, muscle rippling through her ten-foot tall figure as she bellowed with her chin set high, waving her sword away from her in a fast cut, “But not… me.”

Her wings, twenty feet in diameter, flapped open—wind sheering through the shadows and fire that crested her figure, showing her power with very little than the tip of her pinky finger, the necklace of silver around her neck gleaming faintly as faint wisps of deep, red magic-like smoke trailed from her figure.

“The world tried to kill me—set me aflame with fear that stagnated the very bloodshed lining these halls,” the Sphinx spoke with authority in her tone, waving her right hand around her, each heavy paw stepping one over the other, shoulders rolling as a slick—harrowing smirk lined her mouth, muscle visible just in the cracks of that uncanny smile, a predator eyeing her prey as she hummed with a cocked brow, amused as she would bring up her right hand to her mouth, a single digit pressed along her lips in a shushing motion. “But rules were made to be broken. I may follow the cat and mouse game, but nothing in life is ever fair…”

A flip of the kopis sword casually in her right palm, claws on the ends of her hands flexing as she asked with a growl to her voice as she bled into the shadows with terrifying ease, “Is it?”

Writing Drabble (8):

“They look up to you, your friends,” Jia confirmed with gentle astuteness to Yami as she helped him slip his blue jacket past his shoulders, holding it up behind him while he was wiggling his arms into the arm holes—while her green-and-blue eyed gaze would impart onto him for a second from his right and then ahead of her to the mirror in front of them, looking at him for a softer moment as he was busy fiddling with his sleeves, her hands falling by her sides, “…but there is one thing you can also do on your part as a leader.”

“And what would that be?” He hummed back to her in genuine interest and question, having finished fixing himself up and snapping the edges of his jacket into place, swinging himself around as the gold of his Millennium Puzzle flashed when he did so, resting on his chest, magenta and red eyes meeting hers as he did from their heightened stances—the slightest bit of concern tweaked into his brows as a part of him wanted to know if he had done something wrong, but also wanting to know if this was some advice, hands settling on his hips.

The girl’s smile inched on the right-hand corner of her mouth, finding his mannerisms cute as she crossed her arms over her turquoise crop top, then reached her right hand forward for a second—hesitating then, fingers curling as she wondered if he would be uncomfortable with the move she was about to make, before full-on then deciding to go with it as she rested it along his sternum where his heart would be… the feeling of it picking up speed from her touch as Yami looked upon Jia with a more astute softness, as she murmured reassuringly, “Be strong enough to be gentle.”

In response, a chuckle blossomed from his nostrils, mouth tugged in a crinkled grin, orbs closing for a small period before opening and looking at her again; Yami’s right hand lifted and gently covered her hand, squeezing it in return as his thumb gently brushed across her knuckles—both looking at one another in quiet and comfortable tenderness.

Writing Drabble (7):

“You’re doing great. I’m almost done…” Jia murmured through the sound of a muffled pin pressed between her teeth that she was swift to remove from her mouth and set in her lap before bringing her hand up again, her fingers working deftly on the back of a black and purple star-shaped head, being gentle as she was combing her fingers through it and tying it up into a ponytail—oceanic eyes narrowing as she was careful and slow in her work, before she finally pulled her fingers away once she was satisfied, a slight smile on her mouth as she chirped out, “And… there! Y’ wanna take a look for me and make sure it’s up to snuff?”

To prove her point, she would reach down her right leg to the pocket resting near her knee on her duffled, black pants, reaching inside and grabbing her phone from within before quickly using her thumb to swipe open the camera button on the home screen—handing it around the head who was sitting in-between her legs on the floor in front of her, to which he had grabbed it from her with gentleness and grace in his movements with his right hand. Purple and red eyes moved across the screen, observing himself as while his multiple yellow lightning-shaped bangs had been left out, the rest of his hair had been tied back in a small ponytail—revealing more of his face and sharp complexion as a soft hum rumbled from his gut at that, face tilting back and forth as he admired the short amount of handiwork.

“I admit…” Yami’s bass voice rumbled after a moment, taking it in while Jia patiently waited from behind him with her black, gold, and turquoise-shaped head hiding from view, her boots quietly tip-tapping the floor near his sides anxiously to hear his thoughts, her hands placed in her lap before she had gotten a nod of approval and the slightest breath escaping his lungs as a light curve of a smile pressed on him, flattered as he looked at himself on the phone’s screen, “…it’s not something I’m used to, yet… I like it. I can see why Duke often has his hair up.”

“Right?” Jia asked rhetorically and happily, proud of her small handiwork as she could also be seen nodding her head in the background as she gently curled her arms around the Pharaoh’s middle from behind, resting her chin on his right shoulder as both she and Yami were now staring into her phone—like looking back into a mirror as she gave him a gentle squeeze in the hug she had enveloped him in, which had earned a slight inching smile in return, magenta eyes half-lidded as Jia murmured back, “We should also get the chance to shop for you! You would look killer in some of the clothes I’ve seen around the city.”

“Hmm. You think so?” Yami had asked in return upon her compliment, genuinely curious but also intrigued, as he, out of impulse and rather sweetly, acting sincere in their private quarters, had leaned his head atop her own—an act that seemed like second nature to him as he looked upon Jia through the lens of the camera in his palm with a relaxed gaze.

The act had caused her heart to warm in reply, squeezing him between her arms just a smidge tighter but not enough to make him uncomfortable as her cheeks took on a slight tint of pink, to which she would hum back knowingly with a glint in her eyes, “Oh, I know so. You’d look good in purple,” she would naturally let the humble reply roll off of her tongue with a quirk of a smile rolling up on the right-hand corner of her lip, to which Yami had let out another chuckle in return, the phone he was holding dropping away from his face, the slight flash of a flattered red bruising his cheeks.
