Throwback to Darknight questline. I genuinely had a lot of fun doing this, and the conclusion of the first series was suuuper weird. But, it was a long time coming. I hit level 70 DRK as a joke, having not done a single quest relating to the DRK class. My friends were not happy. xD

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first of my glamour instalments within my slice of XIV, on the Chaos Data centre’s Moogle Server. Every few days I will feature an interview with members of the Moogle server public, discussing gameplay features, patch update impacts and general feelings about the game.

Today I happened to meet a level 64 Dragoon of the Free Company BlackSun <<BSun>>, Cormak Vesu, who was kind enough to grant me some of his time in which to answer questions regarding glamour fashion within XIV.

Please find below a transcript, somewhat paraphrased, regarding our conversation about Final Fantasy XIV.

Q. Hello there Cormak Vesu. I’m wondering if you have a few spare moments, that I may ask you a few questions and perhaps take a picture? I’m interested in talking to individuals with good glamour sense. A. Sure, and thank you!

Q. Firstly, taking a look at what you’re currently wearing, were there any certain goals or ideas you wished to incorporate into your glamour,did you spend any gil or do you prefer to keep it simple and put together whatever is available to you? A. Well, I have recently returned to the game after a long break with my girlfriend. I wanted to aim for something that looked good but also matched the class. I love the look of the Dreadwyrm set, but it was super expensive on the Market Board. So, I used the Chest and Gloves I currently have crafted by a guildie as a main focus of my glamour. With these in mind I scoured the Market Board for other items that looked as though they would fit with it and then used gil I had available to dye everything matching colours. Gil availability was a factor in my choices. Well, you’ve definitely done a good job considering you were forced to go for an alternative set! I don’t see very many well-dressed Dragoons, so well done on the outcome! (Especially at level 64 with little endgame experience!)

Q. Secondly, when deciding which colours to go for, do you have any preference? People in general have a few specific colour sets they like to keep to. Do you have a preference or does it change depending on the class and armour you hope to use? A. Mostly, I went for this colour because I wanted a metallic look with plate armour, and also wanted to bring the leggings in to match, which I could only do with the metallic dye I used. Because of the armour, I was very limited in which colour I felt I would be happy with. So, I take it that you generally prefer to keep to a canon-style design when choosing your colours? Yeah, for sure. I like it to be realistic-ish. I have had silly characters in the past on MMOs, though. :D That’s quite a commitment! Realistic is definitely a good look. I know I’ve seen quite a few knights clad in pink and orange metallic dyes, for example. They have their charm, but it’s definitely a good look if you can pull off well-designed realism.

Q. Thirdly, if you had any advice to give to other aspiring glamour players in Final Fantasy XIV, what would it be? Is there anything you enjoy about glamours you hope to interest other players in? A. Well I’m certainly not an expert, but I have noticed that people seem to glamour clothing rather than armour, even for heavy classes. I would love to see more heavy armour glamours used by players. I think they look just as good! That’s definitely a rare comment to hear! You see a lot of players, I’m guilty of this myself, typically using cloth style garments for glamours. I suppose it doesn’t help that a lot of them are high level crafts that come out after each new patch, for example recent patch 4.2′s very popular sweater. It would be nice to see a more varied style of armour that high level crafters could create to fill that void.

Q. Fourth question - Are there any glamours, pets, etc. that you’ve seen players use as part of their setups that you really enjoyed, even if not something you would particularly use personally? A. Do Mounts count? Of course! A. Certainly! I’ve seen quite a few people use mounts to add some more flare to their glamours, especially considering the Company Chocobo has such a varied array of bardings. I once saw this player in full white leather armour, with a white weapon and a white mount. They were just standing at a quest hub motionless, but I thought they looked fantastic! \o/ It sounds as thought they put some thought into their glamour, and didn’t just leave it at their clothing! (I could probably learn something from this. I tend to just use whichever mount I’m not bored of yet, and which look coolest..)

Q. Two final questions, the first of which being - Is there anything you feel is currently lacking in XIV, that you would like to see in future? It could be anything from new items to glamour, or an entirely new class to glamour with! A. Hmm. I think most of what I’d have wanted was recently introduced in patch 4.2. Housing and glamour chest have been really beneficial! I really enjoy getting more combat content, but right now I’m happy with how things are. That’s a great answer! It’s always nice when things we want ingame are finally introduced. I too was really excited about the glamour chest! Hopefully you can continue to enjoy XIV for a long time! Really hope so, my girlfriend is enjoying the game too! We also brought a few friends over from Guild Wars 2. Q. Lastly, what is the one thing you most like about Final Fantasy XIV? It can be anything from the dungeons, to crafting, to bi-yearly Fan Festivals held by the Square Enix team! Right now I enjoy dungeons most. I am hoping to start raiding once I hit the cap, although I’m usually a PvP player in previous MMOs. I haven’t had time to try PvP on Final Fantasy yet, however. I may end up loving it just as much.
