Hiiii! Sorry I vanished off of the face of Earth for a week or so- but I’m back! And with the last character (probably) for my Shadow Spark AU! There are other characters involved that didn’t end up getting their own post just because they didn’t have any major differences from their canon designs/lore and I might compile a few of them in one post.
Anyways… here is TKO!
KO’s ‘Evil’ alter ego differs a lot from his canon counterpart, starting with his origin.
(Before the story, KO’s between 4-9) Shadow Spark had been dabbling in using emotions to make her powers return to herself for a while when she became aware that her son (the son she was not very involved or interested in and was leaving to Professor Poison) had some powers of his own that could prove useful in her research. So she began taking over Professor Poison more frequently and pushed KO to emotional edges. Similar to how in the canon Dendy tried to figure out turbo power, Shadow Spark used fear, sadness, anger, and isolation to try and figure out what was causing KO’s underlying strength.
Eventually TKO emerged as a result of KO feeling powerless to stop Shadow Spark from hurting him and Professor Poison. TKO had no loyalty to Shadow Spark and originally he had nearly defeated her but when she threatened to never let Professor Poison take control again, he backed down- afraid he would lose his mom for good.
And when Shadow Spark pointed out how her and TKO were ‘the same’ in their struggle against their other versions, he backed down even more. He refused to be like her to the best of his abilities and let KO take control again.
Shadow Spark knew she couldn’t fully control TKO while she’s still powerless so KO being in control wasn’t the worst thing, but she still uses her control over Professor Poison to force KO and TKO to occasionally do her bidding. The three are in agreement that as long as TKO gets stronger and carries out Shadow Spark’s tasks, then Professor Poison will continue to exist.
Because of this agreement, TKO’s character is very different. He still yearns for freedom, but he is the one refusing it to himself. He came into existence because KO couldn’t be strong enough to protect Professor Poison so now TKO dedicates everything he has to keeping both Professor Poison and KO safe from Shadow Spark’s influence. Even though this is a choice he makes for himself, it builds up layers of resentment toward the very people he vows to protect. He’s ashamed of how weak KO is and he can’t stand to even look at Professor Poison because he’s constantly reminded of the fact that she isn’t aware of what Shadow Spark’s is doing.
But he can’t bring himself to take it out on his family, so instead he targets others and makes them feel as weak, alone, and burdened as he feels.
In the present (when the main story takes place) TKO targets Fink. 1, because he is jealous of her and the relationship she has with her own family, and 2, because TKO knows all about Laser Blast and Silver Spark and Fink is a person that Shadow Spark wouldn’t get upset about if TKO messed with her. (In the past there have been people he’s picked on that has gotten him in trouble with her; like POINT/Foxtail and villains from the board of villains)
TKO constantly goes after Fink and plaza, replacing canon Shadowy Figure’s roll in the story and even go a little beyond it since he can’t stop himself from getting directly involved and messing with all the ‘plaza dorks’.
It’ll probably be a while before I post for this AU again (I’M SOREY) but I’ll start work on comic-ish style stories for the big episodes that were voted on in the last poll. (Which decided that I’ll just go in canon order)

I’m aware of the fact that POINT has a car they use- however I don’t think any of them can drive. Laser and Foxtail are too reckless and definitely crash instead of parking, Greyman just straight up doesn’t have a license since he can fly, and they won’t let the junior members drive.
98% of POINT’s budget is replacing that damn car, 1% is public transportation costs (after they crash), and 1% is their silly little theme song

The original image (I was so brain rotted with this movie franchise for a couple years, I love my miniature gay people)

As promised, here is Fink for the Shadow Spark AU!
As described in the Laser Blast post (and basically the same as canon), Fink is taken in and raised by Laser Blast. Unlike canon, Fink and Laser share a much more obvious father and daughter relationship, with Fink taking over many of canon KO’s roles in the series.
Fink helps out in her dad’s shop at the plaza by basically being an assistant. Laser doesn’t let her use any machinery or work the front of the store because he’s paranoid about her getting hurt. (Laser is a total helicopter parent)
But Fink yearns for human interaction outside of her dad and her babysitter. (And of course school, but most kids at school don’t ’get her’ the same way that KO didn’t have friends at school before Dendy)
So one day when the shop runs out of screws (or something), Fink convinces Laser to let her run over to the bodega to buy some more. This works since Laser is avoiding Gar, and the rest of the events of the first two episodes go like usual. With the exception of the ending- it’s Laser Blast who isn’t sure about Fink working at the bodega, but Gar appears and insists it’s a good idea for a kid her age to get out a little more.
Most of Fink’s role/story is directly the same as KO’s aside from her backstory and her relationship with ‘going turbo’. I didn’t want to give her an alter ego, and she also doesn’t really interact with Shadowy Figure. So instead, she’s introduced to ‘turbo’ energy by TKO, who claims to just be a cool kid hanging out at the plaza who is ‘totally trustworthy and not evil’. TKO offers Fink a piece of tech (the collar that canon fink wears), saying it would make her a great powerful hero in no time. She uses the collar the same way she does in canon, but since she isn’t used to having that much power normally, she isn’t able to control it. Hence how the plaza ends up getting destroyed.
Now about her design, I didn’t really change much but she still looks very different from canon. Since she never gets experimented on/mutated, she keeps her cute pink color palette. I removed her lab coat and tried to give her some warmer colors that make her feel a little for cheery and heroic.
Her hair is also in a ponytail that’s tied with bells. I think it would be extra cute if every step she took she also made a bell sound. Story wise, Laser Blast put bells in her hair because she normally walks around very quietly and when she was younger, he would lose her without even knowing it. (Rats/mice walk really quietly)
I still have a couple more characters/character relationships I wanna share, but afterwards I’m going to start putting episodes together.

Last week’s poll ended in a tie between Shadowy Figure and Fink- so I’ll go ahead and post them both this week! Starting with Shadowy Figure for the Shadow Spark AU
Just like canon Shadowy Figure, Shadow Spark is power obsessed and uses glorbs to gain more power.
She has no powers of her own since she lost them in the incident that created Professor Poison. Instead she relies on using manipulation to get other people to do her bidding. Most notably, her son’s alter ego, TKO.
She tasks TKO with gathering glorbs, destroying enemies, and monitoring POINT/heroes that might stand in her way. In exchange for this, she offers TKO lessons in strengthening and control his powers along with promising to leave Professor Poison and KO alone.
Shadow Spark’s character deviates from canon Shadowy Figure as she seeks revenge against Laser Blast. She let her anger consume her, and now, no matter the cost, Shadow Spark will hurt him the way she felt hurt by what he did.
This ties into her design, which is much less ‘hidden’ than canon Shadowy Figure’s. For now she avoids Laser Blast but when she eventually reveals herself, she wants to be undoubtedly recognizable. Hence why her dress keeps a similar silhouette to the leotard Silver Spark wore and her hair remains the same. Without being too obvious for most people to recognize her, Shadow Spark wants her appearance to be one of many things that make Laser Blast hurt. (Also since she just has other people doing things for her a majority of the time, there isn’t a reason to visually hide her identity too much)
Where Shadowy Figure in canon interacts with Fink, Shadow Spark isn’t interested in her very much. So she simply allows TKO do do with her what he pleases (effectively replacing canon Shadowy’s role with TKO instead, which I’ll touch on way more when I’m talking about Fink)
This next part will get its own post. It’s basically how Shadow Spark reacts to this version of ‘The Big Reveal’. (I’ll make posts for most of the pretty big episodes that have lore changes, like ‘TKO’, ‘Let’s Take a Moment’, ‘Villains Night in/out’, etc. etc.)
When it’s revealed that Professor Poison is (was) Silver Spark, it’s not done exactly the way that Shadow Spark intended to happen and it’s much too quick. Though originally she’s outraged that her plan was unraveled so quickly by Fink and Laser Blast, she sees an opportunity to make things work in her favor. Without revealing herself, Shadow Spark finds a way to get Professor Poison to insist that KO spends the weekends with his father. Laser Blast obviously accepts this agreement, much to KO and Fink’s dismay, and Shadow Spark is able to use KO to get closer to Laser Blast than ever before.
Shadow Spark isn’t as strong as canon Shadowy Figure, if anything she is much weaker than even canon Professor Venomous, but she’s significantly more cunning and wise. Where canon Shadowy is almost childish with his obsession with power, Shadow Spark is more like wild animal with her obsession about hurting Laser Blast. She’ll do anything to watch him suffer, even if it means hurting herself more. She’s truly lost in her feelings of anger and betrayal.

Was think about how I could make KO and Darrell have the same initial rivalry that Fink and Darrell have. Came to conclusion that Darrell doesn’t want his dad and Professor Poison to get together while KO is hardcore rooting for them.
I think it’s really funny how invested in romance KO gets, like how he wanted Rad and Enid to go on a second date and in the game he makes comments about having Carol and Gar’s powcard kiss. AU KO is not letting Darrell get in the way of his shipping.

More Shadow Spark AU! Laser Blast edition
Basically all of his backstory is the same. One of the big three point members, suffers from imposter syndrome and feels lesser than the other point members causing him to self isolate. He creates the same weapons and still dates Silver Spark, but when Greyman locates his hideout is where the story deviates a bit.
He’s off doing solo work (more self isolating from the team) when Greyman reports about the weapons he found. So he’s unaware that his hideout has been found and is about to be raided. It’s El-Bow who elects that he and Silver Spark go disarm/recover the rest of the weapons after Greyman blows himself up.
The two junior members end up making it to hideout around the same time that Laser Blast returns to point and finds out what’s going on. Overcome with panic he rushes to the scene too late, just in time to watch the building disappear, him and El-Bow watching from outside. (I’ll touch more on the actual explosion/ ‘Silver Spark’s death’ when I do Shadowy Figure or Mr. Gar)
Crushed with guilt and anger, Laser Blast initially blames El-Bow for not being with Silver Spark when the explosion happened. The press picks this story up and El-Bow is kicked out of point. Ultimately Laser Blast acknowledges that it wouldn’t have mattered who was with Silver Spark when the explosion occurred, she still would’ve died. He makes the choice to leave point 1. Because of his guilty conscience about Silver Spark’s death and getting El-Bow wrongly kicked out of point, and 2. To pursue a better place to conduct experiments in hopes to find a way to bring Silver Spark back.
Unlike canon Carol, Laser doesn’t have KO around to force him to emotionally mature and move past his grief about losing his lover. So Laser pulls the ultimate self isolation move and moves away from his entire support system and basically traps himself in a lab far away from anyone he knows (so as not to repeat what happened with his last hideout).
He conducts a lot of experiments, including a couple on himself (none that make him purple tho, thank cob). While collecting more supplies to do more research, and while falling further off the path of a hero, Laser Blast meets a young (toddler age) mutant rat (you’ll never guess who). Fink was to be sold off to use for experiments and something about the her gentle and innocent face is what brings Laser out of the deep end a little bit. He couldn’t imagine anyone being cruel enough to hurt a sweet child and takes her home, quickly becoming a father without even meaning to.
Since he had to focus on taking care of Fink, he mostly gave up on his experiments and research. Still upset over Silver Spark and the role he played in her death, Laser is able to find some sort of happiness in raising Fink to be better than he is.
WHICH brings us to the present!
Laser Blast needed a form of income now that he was moving away from research, and while visiting the plaza, it’s actually Gar who suggest that he buys and opens up a place of his own next to the bodega. (When I go over Mr. Gar I’ll explain some more on why Gar isn’t nearly as nervous or flustered/upset around Laser as he is in canon with Carol)
Laser, despite being nervous about upsetting Gar or dragging the past out into the light, takes his advice and opens a hero equipment and aid store. (Unlike Carol’s skills with learning how to do anything really quickly, Laser is better with tech stuff like his helmet so he wouldn’t be a super great teacher)
Laser still occasionally conducts research on how to bring Silver Spark back, but with Gar and Fink around he’s slowly learning to live a life outside of his guilt.
That’s all for Laser Blast (for now)

Back at it again with more Shadow Spark AU! If you didn’t see the first post, check the tag or go back a week on my page. Today we’re doing KO (since he just barely won last week’s poll)
KO is raised by Professor Poison as a classic villain. He’s well versed in trickery, being a general nuisance, and straight up destruction! Despite being raised by one of the best villains in the business (at least from a ‘understanding villainy’ perspective), KO has a hard time actually being a villain. He enjoys the praise he gets from his mother and other villains for doing villainy but he just isn’t that interested in destroying everything (he still does it and enjoys it sometimes, but to him it can be pretty boring).
KO would never openly admit this though because 1. He wouldn’t want to disappoint his mom, and 2. He wouldn’t want to upset Shadow Spark/ Shadowy Figure. KO doesn’t see Shadow Spark as his mother, and is outwardly afraid of her because she is constantly pushing him to his limits. He would act out against her and snitch to the Professor about Shadow Spark, but Shadowy’s main source of power over KO is threatening to take over his mother entirely or erase Professor Poison’s memories about KO. (Unlike PV Professor Poison has really bad memory and is constantly forgetting things)
Hence where TKO comes in. (TKO will get his own post so I won’t go in very deep). Unlike canon where TKO is an emotional outburst stemming from KO being somewhat emotionally monotone and secretive about his insecurities, in this AU TKO is a direct response to KO’s fears about Shadow Spark. TKO is more like a defensive system, where KO loses control over himself in stressful situations and TKO takes over like a fight or flight response.
This ultimately makes their relationship very different from canon. TKO is forced to be the mature version of KO, like an older brother trying to hold everything together.
Despite not really enjoying villainy, and being constantly afraid of Shadowy, KO still loves his mom and is a loyal henchman in the name of all things evil. He really likes Boxman and all the Boxbots, finding them amusing, and he’s jealous of the (somewhat) normal sibling relationship the Boxbots get to have.
He still collects PowCards, just in secret now. And he’s aware of the fact that his mom used to be Silver Spark (since (just like canon) Shadowy does a lot of monologging, and is constantly ranting about it angrily) He doesn’t know who his dad is though, but TKO pretty easily put together the pieces.
Design wise, I wanted him to have more purple tones, 1. So he looked more villainy and 2. So he looked more recognizably Laser Blasts son.
On that note, Laser Blast is next!
