Did you know? Cats help stress and anxiety, MEOW!
Reduces stress and anxiety: Owning a cat can be soothing and trigger calming chemicals in the body, decreasing stress and anxiety levels. Cats are known for being low-maintenance, so a simple petting session is often enough to relax owners and distract them from other worries.
Increased sociability: Cat ownership provides a natural conversation starter and can enhance the owner’s ability to socialise. One study revealed that women were more attracted to men who owned cats because cat ownership often suggests sensitivity and intelligence.
Provide companionship: Owning a cat reduces feelings of loneliness. Though cats are often known for their independence, the bond between a cat and its owner reinforces companionship. A Swiss study conducted in 2003 revealed that owning a cat is similar to having a romantic partner.

I only have 5 months left until I'm 18. My mood has dropped drastically, I feel like self harming again and I basically hate my life and my self. My camhs worker thinks it's all to do with things going in in my life and I try to tell her it's not &I that it's literally my mood and I can't control it. I think I will need to go to hospital if I can keep my self safe. I know she won't admit me if I ask. How do I go about doing this if I feel a danger to my self? Will they do it cause I'm nearly 18?
I really apologise for how long this has taken to reply, I’ve been working on my personal life for the past year and college. But I’ll reply for anyone else who needs this answering.
I recently just turned 18 too and had a massive breakdown a few months before where I felt I needed to go into hospital. The age was an issue so they worked with adult services to sort something out. I think the first thing to do is make note to them you want to be transitioned to adult services so you can have some security. The best thing to do is just say, I don’t feel safe and I really need some extra help.  They won't be able to do anything if they don't know, yes there is a shortage of beds so she may be hesitant but if its in your best interest they will help do this. They will probably admit you to an adult ward depending on how far off 18 you are.
If you feel you can't control your mood, or if any point it gets to bad and you feel you may cause harm. Just visit your A and E, they will help you there, keep you safe and will address your concerns seriously about staying in hospital.
Also note life is not worth hating when we have puppies and kittens in the world!. I hope you are feeling better now, and if you do receive this respond on how it went, I would like to know. - Cat

I was in CAMHS (I'm 21 now) and I told my nurse that I would kill myself and she let me go and I did try to commit suicide. They acted like they cared but they didn't.
Stuff like this knocks me sick, this is horrible to hear and I hear it too much. I’m so sorry you had this encounter and I hope your life is going well now. - Cat

Hello...I'm 16 and I've been at CAMHS for about 6 or 7 months now and today they were supposed to discharge me but they didn't 'feel comfortable' discharging me. My camhs worker then said that if I felt the same next time I go, she's thinking of talking to a medic? What does this mean? I'm really scared...
I really apologise for how long this has taken to reply, I’ve been working on my personal life for the past year and college. But I’ll reply for anyone else who needs this answering. They were hesitant about discharging me too, but I would say I was fine for weeks, they would say lets wait a week. And they were right, the week later I was all over the place. Because moods change so quickly they like to see how you cope. And normally talking to a medic just means a psychiatrist or someone who could prescribe medication for you to continue to take once you've been discharged.
I don’t know how long it’s been since you sent this, but I really hope your treatment is going okay and wish you all the best. - Cat

Mindfulness? Stressed? Scared? Upset? READ THIS.
So something’s happened? You’re pasts bothering you or you’re worried about your future.
Step 1: SIT DOWN. Become aware of your surroundings. What can you hear? What does the air smell like? Can you taste what you just ate? Become aware of how you’re sat, how the chair feels on your back. What can you see?
Step 2: BREATHE. Focus on your breathing but don’t change it, just focus on your lungs going up and down.
Step 3.1: THINK. Imagine you’re sat there, as you are. Then a big door appears in front of you. You walk through it and find yourself in the most beautiful place in the world. Where would you be? Who are you with? Are there any animals there. What can you hear, taste, smell, feel and see? FOCUS. What are you doing? Maybe a paddle in a lake next to the amazon rainforest, maybe a bbq on an abandoned tropical island?
OR
Step 3.2: FOCUS on an object, any object. A pen? A bag? Your phone? Now look at it, observe it, what does it smell like, look like? Does it taste funny? Does ti have any odd features you’ve never noticed before? Does it buzz next to your ear?
OR
Step 3.3: Listen to your favourite song, now focus on the lyrics, what atmosphere does it create? What does it make you think of? Focus on the instruments and imagine the person singing it, maybe how they feel too.
But whatever you do, DO NOT JUDGE YOUR FEELINGS! Just let them pass and try and remain a focus. Mindfulness is a skill that can be learnt, It can be used anywhere and in most situations. It can improve your outlook on life and general emotions by just focusing on the here and now.
Good luck!

Conversation
I'm going to kill myself.
Friend: I'm going to kill myself.
Me: Okay. Miss out on the cold fires on the beach. Melting ice cream on the floor. Lying on the grass counting stars. Mothers day. Family birthdays. Barbecues. Cats. Dogs. Rain on the window. Kisses in the dark. Pajama days. Toasted marshmallows. Camping. First job. Niagara falls. Warm sand through your toes. Ice castles. Ocean cruises. Eiffel Tower. Learning a new language. Visiting all 7 continents. Swimming with dolphins. Shopping with friends. Water fights in summer. Changing someones life. Long drives to nowhere. Drinking under the sunset.
Sometimes the most beautiful and happiest things in the world are the ones that cannot be touched.

i think im getting really depressed, suicidal etc again. ive been using drugs a lot. last time i tried to kill my self they put me into an adult ward at my local hospital and not the adolescent ward in glasgow. if i need to go to hospital again do you think they put me into the adult ward again? if i refuse to go to the adult ward will they take me to the teenage one? or like would they probably section me and keep me in the adult one? my experience in the adult one was terrible and not helpful
Because CAMHS is so underfunded expecially wards, you can't predict where you will be going much. However you are the patient and you do have a say. It's so unprofessional sending you to an adult ward so in these senarios you need to take control of your treatment. Just sit them down and say, I'm not going there? It's rediculus? I'm not an adult? Do I not deserve the proper treatment? If you give camhs a kick up the bum they usually get things done;) again this is your treatment take control. I do suggest however if you're feeling like this maybe contacting them before you reach that point, because the worst thing ever would be you being sent to some horrible adult ward with a load of smelly old men:(

I used to go to CAMHS in Aldershot but got discharged because I apparently didn't have a mental illness, my councillor was a team leader yet she ignored my ed and focused just on sh so when that stopped she thought I was cured and made me leave, along with that she told my parents EVERYTHING I said to her even though none of it was a safety concern so she had no right to tell them
I would recommend contacting your local CAMHS management team and reporting the issue about confidentiality to them because that should not of happened and I'm so sorry it did, it's horrible. About the ed? Maybe she thought the source of your self harm was causing it. Sometimes therapists are silly bananas:')

Things to do to calm down and lower stress and anxiety levels?
Hey there,
there are a lot of things you can do about being anxious and stressed. Here are some tips I often use myself:
Breathing techniques. My favourite one is this. Breathe in for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 2 and breathe out for 7. Keep doing this until you feel calmer and less lightheded. When we’re anxious, we tend to take fast, “flat” breaths that raise our blood pressure and make us feel a bit dizzy. This works against that.
Physical grounding. Sit down or stand up and place your feet on the ground. I always like to preten I’m a tree, my roots go deep into the earth and make sure I can’t fall over. I’m connected with my surroundings and I’m grounded because I’m standing so firmly.
The 5-4-3-2-1 game. I learned this from the AAB! Out loud, you state 5 things you feel, 4 things you see, 3 things you smell, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you taste. You can mix these things up, don’t worry. Just start the countdown at 5.
Say “I am (name), I am (number) years old, I am in (place you’re now) and things are going to be okay.”
Try meditating. Here is a page on meditation! :)
Hope this helps. If you’re constantly feeling stress, I suggest you talk to a doctor. <3
