Discover the Power of Green Exercises for a Healthier You

In our fast-paced world, finding time to exercise can be challenging, especially when juggling a demanding job and personal life. But what if I told you there's a way to boost your mood, improve your health, and enjoy the beauty of nature all at once? Enter green exercises—a powerful, natural solution to our modern-day health challenges.
Green exercises refer to physical activities performed in natural environments. Think walking in the park, jogging through a forest, or even gardening in your backyard. These activities not only help you stay fit but also offer a range of physical and mental health benefits. Let's explore why green exercises are worth incorporating into your routine.
Why Choose Green Exercises?
In our increasingly sedentary lifestyles, many of us spend hours sitting at desks, leading to various health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Coupled with the stress and anxiety from our daily grind, it’s no wonder our well-being takes a hit. Green exercises can be a game-changer. Here’s why:
Boosts Mood and Self-Esteem: Studies have shown that just five minutes of green exercise can significantly enhance mood and self-esteem. Nature’s calming effect helps reduce stress and anxiety, making you feel more positive and energized.
Improves Focus and Efficiency: Exercising outdoors increases adherence to fitness routines. The natural distractions reduce fatigue, allowing you to train harder and stay committed.
Enhances Vitamin D Levels: Sunlight exposure during green exercises boosts your vitamin D levels, crucial for bone health and immune function. Deficiency in vitamin D can lead to various chronic diseases.
Promotes Better Sleep: Physical activity combined with the mental relaxation from nature leads to improved sleep quality. You’ll find it easier to fall asleep and enjoy a restful night.
Engages Different Muscle Groups: Unlike indoor exercises, green exercises involve various muscle groups, providing a full-body workout that enhances overall fitness and mobility.
The Science Behind Green Exercises
You might wonder, how exactly do green exercises work their magic? The “attention restoration theory” suggests that natural environments help us relax and regain mental composure. Nature’s sights and sounds offer a refreshing break from our everyday stresses, promoting mental clarity and relaxation.
Moreover, the ecological dynamics approach posits that green environments provide intense sensory stimuli and physical challenges, leading to positive emotional responses. Essentially, nature's complexity keeps us engaged and benefits our mental and physical health.
Advanced Green Exercises
For those looking to delve deeper, advanced green exercises like ecotherapy and forest bathing offer structured ways to connect with nature.
Ecotherapy involves guided activities in nature to improve mental health and well-being. It might include gardening, nature walks, or even animal-assisted activities.
Forest Bathing is a practice popular in Japan, where one mindfully walks through a forest, engaging all senses. It’s a simple yet profound way to reduce stress and enhance mindfulness.
Take the First Step Towards Wellness
Incorporating green exercises into your life doesn’t require a major overhaul. Start small by walking in a nearby park or tending to a garden. Gradually, you’ll notice the positive changes in your mood, energy levels, and overall health.
Ready to embrace the benefits of green exercises and more? Visit Yuvaap.com and start your wellness journey today. Experience the difference nature can make in your life and take the first step towards a healthier, happier you.

Witchcraft Exercise - Creating Correspondences

There are dozens of plant species in the arsenal of the green witch. Commonly-used varieties and usage varies somewhat between traditions, but most of us are fairly familiar with industry standards like basil, bay, rosemary, sage, and so on.
But what do you do when faced with a plant that has no listed magical correspondences anywhere that you can find in your witchcraft library? Simple - you create some.
Allow me to demonstrate with a little plant I found in my own backyard. It's a common weed called Virginia copperleaf (Acalypha virginica). But despite it's widespread range and abundant growth as a field weed, there are surprisingly few references to the plant in regional folk medicine and none at all that I could find in contemporary witchcraft.
So in order to incorporate this hardy little weed into my practice, I set about creating some correspondences for it.
First, I researched the physical properties of the plant. It is a small annual spurge with long taproots, a resistance to drought and many herbicides, and a reputation for fast growth and being difficult to eradicate from fields due to prolific seeding. The leaves turn coppery-red in the fall and small spiky flowers bloom among the foliage. It is also mildly poisonous. The juice of the plant may cause contact dermatitis or a mild rash in some people and if ingested, it may cause GI symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.
Next, I researched references to the plant in folk medicine. I could only find a single reference that cited copperleaf as a possible diuretic and expectorant. That does track with the previous mention of GI symptoms, but it doesn't mean the plant is safe to use. I did discover that an alternate name for the plant is three-seeded mercury or mercury weed, likely because of its' tendency for fast growth and the fact that it is propagated by the wind.
So now comes the business of creating the correspondences, using the physical properties of the plant as a basis.
The first and most obvious association is strength. Any weed that is resistant to drought and herbicide and uprooting is bound to be useful for spells involving tenacity and fortitude. Prosperity is also a likely use, both because of the name copperleaf and the way in which the plant grows and spreads quickly. Because of the alternate name mercury weed and the wind propagation, it could be used for wind magic or communication spells. (I often associate the element of air with communication and the name of a messenger god is right there as well, but your mileage may vary.)
The plant could also be used as an ingredient for baneful magic, either to bind and frustrate someone's efforts by consuming available ground where their ambitions might grow, or in its' capacity as a mild poison, to cause physical discomfort and stomach trouble.
So in the end, I have a handful of copperleaf and a listing in my witchbook that details the properties of the plant and notes that it could be useful for spells involving strength, tenacity, prosperity, wind, or communication, as well as possible baneful uses including binding, discomfort, and sickness.
This is my system for assigning correspondences to previously-unknown plants, and I encourage readers to use it as a template for their own practices or to create their own system. Either way, I recommend the use of a field guide or plant identification app like PlantNet to properly identify plants as you find them. Remember to forage and harvest responsibly, be a good steward of the land around you, and always label your plant cuttings.
Check out more tips for harvesting local wild plants here.
Happy Witching! 💚🌿

One of my favorite things is when a Green Lantern's constructs are juxtaposed with another's, and you get to see the differences in their styles and personalities. Probably the most famous example is in Green Lantern: Rebirth when Hal's yapping about Guy, John, Kyle, and Kilowog while they fight Parallax-possessed Ganthet, but the entire run of Green Lanterns does it really well for Simon and Jessica:
Simon's creations are sharp, defined, angular. His background in mechanical engineering shines through as he outfits Cyborg with a massive cannon for a team attack, and even something as simple as the good old boxing glove gets a telescoping mechanism to pack an extra punch.
By contrast, Jessica's constructs are much more fluid and organic in shape. Her affinity for nature and wilderness (an underappreciated aspect of her character imo) shines brightly in the vines and roots and animals that she creates.
And when you put the two of them together, you can really see how differently their minds and personalities work, despite sharing the same name and powerset.

Hi lanny! Could you provide a guide on how to get into working out? 💗💖
GUIDE TO STARTING TO WORK OUT
hi lele 💝☀️ hope this guide helps you w your journey!!
The first step to working out is setting goals related to exercise, not physical appearance. Avoid things like fat loss, muscle gain, smaller waist, bigger glutes and so on.
While you can make this a separate goal, the reason why I don’t want you to associate it with exercise is that we then allow the way our body looks to dictate whether we believe the exercise we’re doing is good enough.
Exercise and body aesthetics are two different things. Exercise is a means of nourishing our body, soul and mind, while body aesthetics is how ‘good’ our body looks.
On that topic, I want you to stop focusing on your physical appearance when starting to exercise and I want you to start implementing a new mindset shift about your body. Instead of seeing your body as something to look at, appreciate it for what it can do.
For example, your hands create meals, hug your loved ones and help you with essential tasks. Your legs help you to get around, especially to your favourite places. Your stomach helps with digesting all the yummy food you eat.
Some goal ideas:
Lift 15kg+
Be able to do a plank for more than 5 minutes
Learn how to do a push-up
Be able to run on the treadmill for 30 minutes
Gain more stamina and exercise for longer
Moving on, set a time each day in which you prioritise exercise. This can be for however long you want and the times can vary daily.
So, during this period, you are not allowed to do anything else other than exercise. It doesn’t even have to be a specific exercise either, if you’re feeling lazy and laps walking around the house is what feels best, do it.
However, avoid obsessing over working out and losing yourself to exercise. This kills motivation, in exercise starts to feel like another obligation in the day and not a privilege.
Now, you have to choose what exercise is right for you. I don’t believe you’re limited to one exercise, if you want you can have more than 1.
Gym – Perfect for a mix of strength and cardio, however not the best option if you want to exercise for free.
Yoga – Tones muscles while also being a mindful experience. Low low-impact, but recommend doing it after cardio.
Cycling – Tones the legs and the glutes, but cycling may not be the best idea depending on where you live.
running/jogging – Strengthens muscles and bones, however, if you don’t have flat areas, may not be the best idea.
Pilates – Improves flexibility and tone, while still being low impact (still may be challenging).
Weightlifting – Makes you stronger and boosts your metabolism, best done at the gym.
There are plenty of ways to exercise that I haven’t mentioned here, but these are just ideas so you can research the ones that suit you best.
I recommend talking to a doctor if you haven’t done exercise in a long time, as that can open up the possibility of injury.
Then, once we have our goals, times and what we’re doing, we need to exercise. Implementing exercise in your life is best done slowly.
Start with simple, and smaller versions of workouts, even if you think you can do more. Do this for about a week, then try to extend yourself with something harder. If it is too hard, don’t be afraid to go back a step.
Make it fun, create a motivating exercise playlist or watch your favourite TV show while doing it.
However, the main thing about exercising is that every day you are not always going to feel like it, but that is when we have to discipline ourselves, talk to the mirror and say; ‘Me exercising is a privilege, I get to nourish my body because I love and respect it so much’.
This was the best way I disciplined myself into working out. Treating it like a privilege and something that is very benefical, rather than a painstakingly challenging activity.
Or, instead, you can visualise what you would look and feel like if you continue like this for the next 5 years.

I am struggling with finding source for how magical associations developed. Like amethyst being for dreams, air, and crown chakras. I cam find lists, but many of the items I feel called to use are not listed, especially local flora/fauna.
I'm not really interested in the source, more in how the associations developed so I can work on developing my own associations for unlisted items. Any advice?
I'll do you one better. Here's an exercise I wrote to help develop magical uses for local plants that don't necessarily have a presence in the Western herb magic canon. It relies on the physical appearance of the plant, as well as any chemical or medicinal properties, practical uses, and folkloric associations. The overall model is not dissimilar from the standard setup you'll see for most plant magic, just without references to deities, planets, astrological, elements, or gender.
A lot of the associations developed out of folklore or old-timey medical practices (especially when it comes to plants), which is why there seems to be a lot of variation. Modern witchcraft and paganism have added their own spins and associations as various authors have weighed in on the topic, and quite a lot of the stone and gem associations were straight made up in the mid-20th century.
(There are medieval and Renaissance associations for a lot of major gems and metals, true, but most of the currently-cited information was added to the witchcraft canon, such as it is, within the past century. At least some of this was due to the counterculture free-associating ideas from unrelated cultures and belief systems, and the resulting correspondences got rolled into the modern witchcraft movement along the way.)
Hope this helps! 😊🌿
