Pixar did not have to go as hard as they did with the Kronos Unveiled scene in The Incredibles (2004), yet they did anyway and gave us one of the best scenes in modern cinema. Literally cannot stop thinking about how good this scene is, from the animation to the build up to the soundtrack.
I don’t think I truly understood how dark this scene - and this film - was a child: Syndrome is systematically and strategically luring in superheroes and killing them off in order to test and improve his Omnidroid design… these people were not only supers but they also had family and loved ones too, just like Bob, and one day they would have just disappeared because chances are they weren’t telling people where they were going because it was "top secret" and against the law. They thought they were doing something good, like helping the people in the island, while also getting to relive their glory days, perhaps even paving the way for superheroes to make a proper comeback… only for Syndrome to kill them in cold blood.
Most of these people can actually be seen at Bob and Helen’s wedding in the beginning of the film - they weren’t just random supers, they were their friends, people they worked alongside and cared about. It’s even worse when you realise that Bob probably blames himself because, after all, Buddy/Syndrome was his biggest fan and he dismissed him by not letting him help.
The relief on Bob’s face when he realises Syndrome doesn’t know where Helen is - meaning he also doesn’t know where their children are because he didn’t realise they were married at this point - is so realistic and gut wrenching to see. The relief contrasting with the anguish of knowing how much danger they and their entire family could have been in the entire time without even knowing...it's so well-done, you can literally feel it.
It’s also worth noting that originally the next target wasn’t Mr Incredible but Frozone - that was who Mirage was trailing, hence why his location is “known”. Imagine if she/Syndrome hadn’t realised that Mr Incredible was with him and they’d lured Frozone in instead as planned; he would have gone to the island to fight the Omnidroid 8 in a volcano setting. We saw how being in the burning building dehydrated Frozone and made it impossible to use his ice powers - presumably it would have been the same in the middle of a lava filled volcano, and he’d have been slaughtered just like the other superheroes before him.
This scene shows an entire generation of superheroes - Bob, Helen and Lucius’ generation - wiped out all because Syndrome felt slighted by his hero as a child, because he internalised that slight and let it drive him to revenge. And, if we take into account the deleted alternate opening scene, it’s mentioned that superheroes "aren't supposed to breed” - meaning there’s a likelihood that Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack are among the very few supers of the next generation. I know that it's deleted and so not really canon, but it's definitely a concept to consider, I think.
Then there's the fact Syndrome named the project "Kronos" - Kronos was a God who overthrew his own father in order to take over his rule, and then he ate his own children to prevent them doing the same thing to him. It feels like it reflects Syndrome once looking up to Mr Incredible and even saying "I could be your ward!", meaning Mr Incredible adopting or fostering him - the project name is a metaphor for Syndrome destroying the Supers, especially Mr Incredible, who he viewed as a father figure. The Omnidroids he built killed two birds with one stone: not only was he able to acquire the data to upgrade the robot to its final design, but it also eliminated the real super heroes and so left him as the last remaining "superhero", even though his powers are man-made, not something he was born with.
Not only did he want to become the only remaining superhero by killing the real ones in revenge, he also planned to sell his inventions at some point so everyone can be super - because "when everyone is super, nobody is". It's like a final blow to the memory of the superheroes he had killed.
I've talked too much about this scene but God... I love it so much more as an adult because it's just so chilling to think about. I'm sure other people can put it much more articulately than I just tried to, but I just really wanted to appreciate this scene.

AU Asami is Amon by nikoniko_808
Give me the forbidden enemies to lovers Korrasami
Okay I wrote up my own au of Asami as Amon
Hiroshi and Asami witnessed the death of Asami’s mother at the hands of the Red Lotus society. Asami swore revenge on all benders. The corruption of Benders has gone too far and Asami and her father cannot let it continue. So they create a movement. The Equalists. Near the end of season 1. Asami would be nowhere to be seen. The Krew believes the Equalists have kidnapped Asami and when Korra confronts Amon, they don’t see her.
Tarrlok is still captured by Amon, when Korra sees him and they chat, he tells the whole story of Amon as it happened in the show to her and everything. Like it goes in the show. Korra and friends go to confront Amon at the arena where Tenzin and his family are about to lose their bending. But they don’t because she gets there in time. She accuses Amon of being a bender, as per Tarrlok’s story. Amon doesn’t unmask. And he isn’t a bender. Tarrlok lied to get Korra to confront Amon so that he could capture her and he could hopefully save his own skin for the service at least. They fight. Amon takes Korra’s bending in a big demonstrative way. So all the crowd can see what comes to any benders, especially The Avatar who stand against him. Then the reveal happens. Asami is Amon.
In order to get her bending back and learn how to give others their bending back (yeah, Korra wouldn’t get it back at the end of Book 1 because consequences? What’re those?), Korra has to go on a quest to learn her bending(her masters would be Toph, Katara, Izumi and Tenzin) in the Spirit World to understand everything. Korra does not cry about loosing her bending because she realized she’s still The Avatar and has to go to The Spirit World to get her bending back, to help everyone get their bending back and stop Asami
Throughout the series, we would meet Kya, Bumi, Izumi, Eska, Desna(Eska and Desna would be Korra’s siblings in this universe, because fuck Unaloq) Opal and Kai. We have the same romance between Bolin and Opal and Jinora and Kai. We would also meet Varrick and Zhu Li, because they are comedy gold. They would all help in the fight against Amon and the Equalists.
In Korra’s venture to the Spirit World,
she would still see Wan’s story(because that’s the only thing I liked about Book 2) and I think in her journey in the spirit world she would see Asami’s story, in which her family were victims of the Red Lotus society and Asami learned to take bending away in the spirit world. Not only that, we would find out that Asami would be bonded with Vaatu. Asami is the darker Avatar.
Before she leaves The Spirit World she connects with all her past lives to ask what she should do about Asami. Korra has her Aang moment where she has too has to decide what to do like he did with the fire lord, only this time there’s more to it than just stopping the bad guy. It’s about the person she loved. She can restore everyone’s bending by reversing Amon’s convergence, but she can’t do that so long as the avatar spirit is split. And as long as Asami is part avatar, she can go into the avatar state. That’s still pretty damn dangerous even with only water and blood bending. Korra realizes the only thing she can do to stop Asami? Love her.
After her journey to relearn her bending and journey in the spirit world, Korra travels the world to gain allies. From the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes and Air Nomads. Korra unites the world against Amon and the Equalists.
In the final fight, Korra defeats Amon. She exorcises Vaatu from Asami, thus ending the dark Avatar and stopping Amon’s convergence. She reverses what Asami has done and uses it to restore everyone’s bending. So she has to come to the hard part. Amon makes it clear, no matter what, even without the ability to energy bend or without Vaatu, Amon will never stop, Benders will never be safe. Korra shows Asami what she was denied. Korra loves her and forgives her. Asami gives up and accepts whatever punishment.
During Book 3, Asami would work with Korra in stopping and killing the Red Lotus society. However, when Zaheer is stopped. He is left at the mercy of Asami and for everything he’s done and turned her into. Asami kills him.
Book 4 happens. Asami’s redemption is rebuilding Republic City and using Future Industries to repair the damage she’s done as Amon. Blah blah blah Korra stops Kuvira blah blah. Asami earns her redemption and the love of Republic City, the krew and more importantly Korra. Ends with Korra and Asami venturing in the Spirit World and ends with a kiss.

I saw another post criticizing Bruce for having children fighting at his side, and I must say: tell me you don't know shit about the batkids' stories without telling me. Bruce fucking tried to stop those kids from being vigilantes, but they keep doing it behind his back, so he decided the best thing to do was to give them the proper training, an armor and to have them stick at his side so he can watch over them. You know, like a parent telling their underage children that they can drink alcohol but only at home where they can watch over them.
Dick became Robin because he wanted revenge over his parents' murder. He would run out in the street of Gotham as a 8 years old, all alone, to go fight Zucco. Bruce helping him make Robin was the compromise to keep Dick safe, because the child would not listen. (And yes, it wasn't the case in the very first canon, but it was like the 40s. Do you know how many kids fought against the Nazis in Europe at that time???)
Barbara Gordon is not his daughter and he has no authority on her being a vigilante. He cannot even ground her.
Jason became Robin after helping Bruce take down Ma Gunn's school. It is implied by Bruce, while talking to Dick, that he offered Robin to Jason as a way to gain a child because he missed having Dick around. He didn't need a Robin, he just missed having a kid. Bruce used the Robin mantle with Jason like people use churu to appease stray kitten. AND JASON'S DEATH, let's talk about it. Jason ran away, which leads to him being killed, after eavesdropping on Bruce and Alfred talking about Jason's mental health. Jason is benched as Robin, but not because Bruce thinks he killed someone like fandom says, but because Bruce knows it is not helping or healthy for Jason. They are talking about getting him help for his traumas and how violence is not helping Jason. And, when he is older and has healed, they can try again if he wants to. That's why Jason or people saying that Jason died because he was a soldier, or blaming Bruce for Robin's existence is false. When Jason died, Bruce was against Jason being Robin for his own health! And Jason knows that, he heard the discussion, he wasn't bench like how so many of his siblings are, with little to no honest explanation. Jason died in the Robin's costume because of his own stubbornness, not because of Bruce. (And that's not blaming Jason for his death. He is not to blame, but neither is Bruce. It's just about the Robin's colors. Jason would not have been wearing them at the time if he listened to Bruce.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim Drake imposed himself as Robin. Bruce was against it, Tim literally went "Don't care, didn't ask". And Tim was already following them around before. Bruce already have Jason blaming him for making Tim Robin when he had no control over that.
Stephanie Brown became a vigilante before Batman knew her. He has tried SO MANY TIMES to make her stop, and so many fans hate that he did it. Make a choice, is it bad that he didn’t stop her more or that he didn’t let her more be a vigilante? He even got his kids to try to make her stop. AND SHE IS "KILLED" TO TEACH HIM THAT MAKING KIDS VIGILANTES IS BAD WHEN HE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OF HER BECOMING ONE AND TRIED TO STOP HER! No shit the man blames himself for things that are not his fault, everyone does it.
Cassandra Cain was 17 when she becomes Batgirl, so I don't know if she counts. But when Bruce tries to make her stop for her own health, with the support of Barbara and Alfred, Cass is devastated and doesn't obey him. She puts on her costume and fights him physically.
Damian Wayne was trained as an assassin. In every version of him being introduced to Bruce, Bruce is against making him Robin and Damian keeps sneaking out. Damian wants to prove himself to his father so bad and refused to be kept away from the fight. In the comics, it's Dick, DICK, that makes him Robin when Bruce is gone, because Bruce was against letting Damian out at night.
Conclusion: Bruce is a tired father of a bunch of kids that cannot understand they should stay home at night and not be vigilantes.

Hehehe, thanks for always do my request, but I want to became anon just for this time, because I always send 1 or two request to you (after you done with my request) (I meant, I really like your writing about the trio husband and then I start to have someone Idea coming to my brain and I want to request it to you 😞👉👈)
For your trio crysos heir husband :3
This time I want to request : about their wife avoiding the husband, because they made her walk limping, so the wife sulk and start to avoiding her husband, when the husband talk to her she start to reply with short talk, when the husband is clingy towards her she start to distance herself from them, I hope the husband will try to make her stop avoiding them.
The child know their father is doing something that make their mother feel like that, maybe the child start to interrogate the husband.
An attempt at reconciliation
After that little revenge, his wife was offended by him, and he is trying to make amends.
Tumblr media
His wife is not just offended, she has declared an unspoken war on silence. When he speaks to her, she either nods briefly or answers in monosyllables, so that even the cool evening wind seems warm and welcoming in comparison.
Usually she is the first to cling to him, but now, as soon as he touches her, she moves away with an imperturbable look. He would prefer that she get angry, yell, hit, but this icy ignoring is real torture.
The older children, noticing the coldness of their mother, immediately understand that their father has done something. They arrange a real interrogation, surrounding him with sly looks:
- "Have you done something to her?"
- "Have you offended mother?"
Breakfast in bed, gifts, even rare moments when he gives in to her in arguments - all useless. She holds the line, as if it were a fortress, and is not going to capitulate.
He deliberately hints at her ignoring him in front of the children:
- "Children, can anyone explain to me why your mother suddenly forgot how to talk to me?"
But his wife just silently takes her tea and leaves. The children look at him with suspicion again.
In the end, Mydei understands that the only way to regain her favor is to honestly admit his mistake. And he does this, not out of pride, but because he cannot stand her coldness. Of course, she does not give in right away, but after a sincere apology, the ignoring begins to crack. And when in the evening he carefully kisses her hand, she no longer pulls away. Maybe tomorrow morning she will smile at him again.
Tumblr media
The wife is in total ignoring mode. She doesn’t get angry openly, doesn’t make scenes, but… her silence is much worse. She answers in monosyllables, avoids eye contact, and if he tries to touch her, she moves away as if he simply doesn’t exist.
Anaxa quickly realizes that he’s in trouble. He’s not one to be afraid of difficulties, but being ignored by the woman he loves? It’s a disaster.
Attempts to make amends. At first, he’s careful: he brings her favorite tea, gives her more rest, does some of her chores for her. When that doesn’t work, he moves on to more obvious signs of attention: he leaves her flowers, notes of apology, is even ready to take on her responsibilities for the whole day… but nothing helps.
The wife remains adamant. If he clings to her, she gently but firmly leaves. If he does something good, she simply accepts it without emotion. Anaxagoras didn’t exist. He was a ghost in their house.
The children notice their parents' strange behavior. They quickly realize that something is wrong with their mother and that their father is being too accommodating. The interrogation begins. They surround their father, arms crossed, and one of them asks:
— Dad, what have you done?
Anaxa, being an adult, smart, and formidable man... feels cornered. He tries to brush it off: "This is between me and your mother..." But the children don't let up: "But this is mom! We love her! If you hurt her, we need to know!" The youngest child hits his weak spot. He tugs his father's sleeve and asks sadly:
— You won't hurt mom again, will you?
Critical damage to Anaxa's pride. Now he's serious about apologizing. Not just with words, but to prove that he realized his mistake.
He does something unexpected. Perhaps he will organize a special evening just for her, openly admit his guilt, and even be ready to humbly wait for her to forgive him. The children watch the process as if it were the most exciting performance. And when, finally, mom starts smiling at dad again, they sigh with relief. But they will not forget this. And the next time, when dad again decides to "take revenge" on mom... he must be prepared for a new interrogation.
Tumblr media
The wife literally ignores him, answers briefly, without emotion, pretends that he does not exist. Phainon feels as if he was thrown out of the family. If he tries to hug or even just touch her, she deftly dodges. Even if their hands accidentally touch, she immediately pulls hers away.
The children quickly notice the strange behavior of their parents. Mom is stern and silent, and dad follows her with a guilty face. Of course, they are interested.
- "Dad, what did you do?"
- "Did you offend mom?!"
- "Did you apologize?"
- "Do you even understand how dangerous it is to anger mom?"
Phainon tries to make amends. He starts making breakfast for her, compliments her, brings her favorite sweets... But in response - only a cold look or a light "Thank you" without a hint of emotion.
He gives in... almost. At some point, he will literally fall to his knees in front of her, begging for forgiveness, if only she would talk to him normally again. The wife secretly enjoys his torment. Although she continues to ignore him, deep down she knows perfectly well that he is suffering, and this amuses her slightly.
The children find this incredibly funny.
- "Hahaha, dad, mom punished you!"
- "Now you know what happens when you make mom angry!"
Finally, Phainon uses his last weapon. He does something incredibly romantic - he throws a dinner, dedicates a passionate monologue to her, perhaps even falls to one knee in front of her, admitting his guilt.
Of course, the wife gives in. Although she has been holding the line for a long time, her heart is not made of stone. In the end, she still forgives her husband, but on one condition - he must remember this lesson for a long time!

"Always coming and going, aren't you? And I have to clean up afterwards." Milly's Rhaenyra is right on the money about the patterns of Daemon's behavior towards Rhaenyra, so let's recap the many ways in which we've seen this exact dynamic play out between Daemon and Rhaenyra throughout the series:
Tumblr media
Season 1 Episode 1: Daemon's callousness towards Baelon's death is the final nail in the coffin that forces Viserys's hand against him and first pushes him to declare Rhaenyra his heir in Daemon's stead. This puts Rhaenyra in a precarious position where she will be forced to fight for the rest of her life against those who do not wish to see her on the Iron Throne. (Viserys eventually came to truly believe in Rhaenyra as his heir, but the impetus to first declare her as such had more to do with his guilt and his need to create distance between Daemon and the Iron Throne).
Tumblr media
Season 1 Episode 2: Daemon steals the egg that should have been Baelon's, and Rhaenyra has to fly to Dragonstone and convince him to give it back before Viserys's council pushes him into drastic measures.
Tumblr media
Season 1 Episode 4: Daemon brings Rhaenyra to a brothel in Flea Bottom, only to leave her alone and vulnerable in a dangerous and unfamiliar place, leaving her to find her own way back to the Red Keep. He's the one who puts her in a position where her reputation comes into question, but Rhaenyra is the one who has to fix it by marrying Laenor, a man who cannot give her children.
Tumblr media
Season 1 Episode 10: Daemon indulges his own desire to prepare for war against Rhaenyra's wishes, leaving Rhaenyra to labor and deliver her stillborn daughter alone even though Daemon is the father.
Tumblr media
Season 2 Episodes 1 & 2: Daemon uses Mysaria for his own ends and makes a promise to her on Rhaenyra's behalf, without Rhaenyra's permission. He then leaves Dragonstone entirely, leaving Rhaenyra to deal with Mysaria's fate.
Tumblr media
Season 2 Episodes 1 & 2: Daemon uses Rhaenyra's request for revenge to get at his own personal desire for revenge, resulting in Jaehaerys's death. When confronted about it, he leaves Dragonstone and breaks contact with her entirely. This deals a massive blow to Rhaenyra's reputation, gives their enemies ammunition, turns Rhaenyra's council against her, and leads directly to the attempt on Rhaenyra's life, all of which Rhaenyra now has to deal with on her own.

I have a hot take, and I just wanna air it out here.
I’m going to be honest, I wonder if deep down people actually hate Caitlyn because of her wealth allowing her to act upon her grief. And I mean what she ACTUALLY did, not what she did plus huge doses of exaggeration (looking at you “she gassed the lanes and everyone suffered because of her” crowd - she gassed the HQs of two chembarons and the arcade where Jinx was. She didn’t gas the whole of the lanes and none of the innocents there).
If Caitlyn didn’t have the wealth and status that she has, she wouldn’t have been able to hunt Jinx, the Chembarons and the Shimmer factories with a strike force. She rolled up with her team to a secret council meeting and didn’t get locked up or thrown out because she had a cause to be there as the Kiramman heiress. She also more than likely wouldn’t have been chosen by Ambessa to rule under martial law if she was a commoner. Her convictions aside, no one of the ruling families would’ve respected that decision, and Salo would’ve been manipulated and given control instead.
If Caitlyn had no status whilst being an enforcer, and Cassandra was a lower class woman who died working in that building, it would’ve more than likely been a one woman rampage through Zaun, with or without Vi, trying to hunt down her mother’s killer. She still would be pissed, she would still be grieving, she may still try to get the Chembarons and Shimmer destroyed, and her quest for revenge would be seen as more justifiable and sympathetic to the average viewer. Her not being rich makes her “relatable” and “misunderstood”, whilst her being rich makes her “monstrous” and “not relatable”.
The difference is that it’s far harder to do so as a simple enforcer as opposed to someone with power. If you’ve ever hated someone that deeply - a drunk driver that killed a relative, a bully that drove your friend to self harm, a parent that abused you severely - you at your angriest would wish for the worst to happen to them, and those with power make it so.
Caitlyn’s wealth allowed her to achieve her desire for vengeance far more easily. She had the resources, respect and voice that Ambessa exploited and the elites listened to.
She had the power many of us wished we had when we were so terribly wronged.
Do I think she fucked up? Yes. Do I believe she deserves to be crucified and hated because of it? No. She still had lines she wouldn’t cross (the cells where Vi was kept we’re not allowed to be used, causing violence at checkpoints got her pissed at Rictus and Ambessa, improving prison food because of an off handed comment from Vi and still have it to her mother’s murderer etc), she didn’t want things to turn out the way they had, and actively tried to do better: not for the sake of redemption, but for the sake of doing what’s right (giving Sevika the Kiramman council seat, allowing Vi to free her sister and letting go of her hate, betraying Ambessa etc).
I believe in “do not turn people away from a better path even after they fall”, and many here grant that concession to Jinx, who has murdered, kidnapped and destroyed, some of that for years. Yet people say “she was traumatised so young and she deserves to be protected”. She does, but when a victim of hers - who got ambushed in her shower whilst naked, kidnapped, vandalised and lost her mother in the same night- needs the same, everyone cries “ShE’s a MoNsTeR and a FACIST! I HATE HER - Vi DeSeRveS BETTER!”
Like bruh … the fuck?
Tl:dr - Caitlyn haters may just subconsciously hate her for being rich enough to enact revenge against an unstable, possessive and murderous teen who killed her mother and assaulted her, and those same haters cannot comprehend that Jinx caused Caitlyn’s own trauma and don’t even care to acknowledge it because of her wealth and Jinx bias. You see “rich” as an insult (hell, it’s the first “insult” Vi flings at Caitlyn after reuniting with her), and a negative character flaw; even though we’d all like some level of wealth in our lives to make it easier.
Caitlyn Kiramman deserves better, end of story

Can we talk about what a weird protagonist SY is?
Like LBH is a very typical protagonist, over-powerful, beautiful, inteligent, obsessive, with a dark backstory and a revenge/happy end arc. There's a reason PIDW is such a banger in the genre and SY is obsessed with him. LBH is all that.
But SY? He seems like a kind of normal guy, except that he is so fundamentally weird. Dude rage died because of an online novel he didn't even like. An online novel he religiously followed to rage and hate on the author. To then transmigrate into the novel's world and taking that in stride as well. Really slipping into the poser persona that SJ crafted for SQQ just much much kinder. To use the opportunity to hang out with all his favorite characters and be kind to them but never quite thinking of them as persons or really thinking about what his actions may mean to a person. Just hanging out having a good ol' time never thinking about anything ever, except beasts and what LBH may be up to. Purely out of intellectual interest of course. To repress his feelings so hard about everything some readers seem to get the honest to god impression SY doesn't like LBH. As the protagonist of a danmei!
It would be so easy if we knew of any trauma that caused SY's bizarre mix of obession/repression. But he seems to come from a loving family that he loved in turn. Not that he brings up their loss through the transmigration ever if he can help it. He didn't have to worry about money. His insane wifebeam must have been present in his first life. We have no indication that he changed his behavior as SY in the transmigration and this dude is charming to a degree that borders on protagonist halo. He seems to passingly resemble SQQ meaning he must have at least been handsome. I love fanon terminally ill or disabled SY because it does fit him so well but we have no indication that canon SY has had any issues with his health. His mental health seems okayish to the degree it is in SVSSS - which like the repression speaks of deep emotional issues. But nothing SY would have let himself think about, obviously.
My point is - I really like SY being so fundamentally weird without being given any proper reason. I don't think he quite realizes himself that he is weird. That it may be unusual to have your whole life uprooted, transmigrating into a fictional world (one that he at least knows well) as the main antagonist faced with a horrifying death and just shrug and go, well best I can do it malewife my way into living through this - without intending it in a gay way at all!!
He somehow dissociates so well from his own feelings that he dotes on LBH, truly to an extraordinaty degree that other peaks know of their close bond even before his year-long grief seclusion, without ever considering what such care could mean for a person like LBH. He repeatedly gets affectionate with men excplicitly because he's like we're all men here, this is not weird. I'd excuse SY if he were from a more repressed society where being gay would be a real social taboo that nobody speaks about. But he's from the modern world! He knows of gay people!
It may be that PIDW as a stallion novel never featured gay sex between men in the original - there was plenty of lesbian sex within the harem, although like probably only for Bingge's benefit. We don't know! Bingge's is portrayed as THE straight protagonist, it may be that SY just assumed being straight was compulsory for all men within the world as a result. But! Peerless Cucumber actively knew of people shipping the men in PIDW and even defended them against hate. But that of course cannot possibly apply to him so we're just not thinking about it :)
It's just... for a protagonist in a romance SY has such an active dislike for his feelings. And not even a conscious one! There are plenty of tsundere type protagonists out there who are very vocal about their emotional repression and dislike for expressing their emotions. That's not SY. Not even in his own internal monologue does he admit to himself that he is uncomfortable with his own feelings. He glosses over them with expectations no one actually demands of him - it's shameful for a man to submit to another man (is it shameful for a man to submit - not even sexually necessarily just being captured by an almighty demon king? is that truly a matter of masculine pride?), it's shameful to having his grief brought up in front of others, it's shameful to express anything beyond platonic or familial affection for a man, it's shameful to initiate sex, it's shameful to be loud during sex. He feels more comfortable putting himself into the female role in an interaction, which is also shameful but apparently less so than acknowledging that two men may be in a scenario that he feels would be romantically or sexually charged in a hetereosexual interaction.
SY is lucky LBH doesn't have the same hang-ups, which honestly I would feel would be more understandable from all of the abuse he experienced. SY has no apparent reason for being so emotionally and sexually repressed. He lived a pretty privileged life. And I think that must have been intentional on MXTX's part. It would have been so so easy to give SY a semblance of traumatic backstory that informs his weird hang-ups here. An absent family, bullying, an illness, depression, loss of a friend, truly anything would have given readers something to hold on to why SY has such weird hang-ups about his own feelings. But she didn't. And I think that serves even more to highlight how destructive compulsory hetereosexuality and toxic masculinity is. SY doesn't even read as a particularly toxic masculine man. He has no issues about other men crying (seems to enjoy taking care of them rather), he has no issue with being compared to women even outside of sexual or romantic context (think riding in the carriage while QQQ while LMY rides her horse), he acknowledges and defends gay shipping. He actively cheers for stronger women and a big issue of his with PIDW seems to be how one-dimensional the women were written, only serving as a new papapapa chapter.
And even as a not particularly toxic man, he has such deep issues with his own emotions, it causes most of svsss' plot to develop how he treats his own and other men's feelings. MXTX actively gave him a pretty privileged and open-minded starting position and still SY was so informed by what he expected of a manly conduct, thought and truly just a lack of feelings, he nearly caused the end of the world and the death of his boyfriend. It took him like 800 pages to have sex with a man and even longer to admit out loud that he is in love. Not even expressly. implied.
To me that makes SY such a compelling character. Probably kind of reminds me of my own repressive tendencies but also because not even in the extras, during or after their wedding he really acknowledges it as a problem. LBH doesn't seem to mind, not that I think he would mind anything his shizun does. And their dynamic works well for them - the whining bingmei and SY can keep his poser act that makes him feel so secure. SVSSS to an extent is a story of SY growing into his own feelings but really only to an extent. He's far far away from having a healthy relationship with them. He may not be actively repressing them or wilfully ignoring LBH's but he certainly isn't willing to really look at them beyond the shame he so often carries and glosses over. He'll do it for LBH's sake but really only then. And I think that's why bingmei and SY work so well but read a bit off-putting maybe to many readers. LBH's whining forces SY to look at his own feelings in order to care for LBH. Which an emotional healthy person would probably be able to pretty easily do on their own. But for SY it's such a monumental task that only his very deep love and care for LBH makes him do it. And that's a decidely unhealthy dynamic but works well for both of them, I think. I'm gonna make another posts someday about what LBH's abuse and neglect means for his ability to accept love and care and why then SY's aloof persona and their shizun/disciple dynamic maybe gives him the framework to be able to accept that.
But yeah SY is a deeply repressed weird obsessive person which emotional issues the size of China but he hides it remarkably well behind his aloof act and humour. And I think that makes SVSSS all the more compelling as a commentary on gender roles, romantic fiction and social expectations.

°•Mizu Being Jealous•°
Tumblr media
Mizu isn't naturally a possessive person by any means. She knows the shit women have to go through, being controlled by others and the world.
So, she'd never be dominating towards you or think she has any say in what you do.
That being said, while she trusts you wholeheartedly... she doesn't trust other people. Particularly other men.
Men who view you as just a pretty face. A prize they'd want nothing more than to steal away from her.
Now that just won't do.
See, if it's an easy matter such as someone touching you or groping you without your consent, say no more.
Their fingers? Gone. Their arms? Sliced clean from their body.
If some sleazy flesh trader sets their eyes on you and begins chatting you up, their hand sneaking to places on your body only meant for her touch alone, well...
They're dead. Plain as that. She'll waste no time in tearing them to shreds with her sword, their viscera painting the walls.
And, with blood stained hands she'll cradle your face, her cold demon exterior vanished.
She'll look at you like you're her whole world, which you are. She will protect you to the ends of the earth.
When it's a lascivious man vying for your attention, Mizu doesn't get jealous. She gets protective.
But, when it's not? Well that's another story.
Sometimes it's a girl at a brothel and she takes a liking to you.
The girl will be sweet where most men aren't. She'll smile at you and gingerly slip her kimono off her shoulder.
The sex worker will talk with you, with the hope of something more. Her eyes shining and all the while you seem to be enjoying yourself.
That sets Mizu on edge. Leaves her feeling twisted inside.
Because you should be with someone else.
Someone not hellbent on revenge. An impure demon with a vengeful, angry soul.
The girl would be a better match maybe or someone like her.
Perhaps not a sex worker but someone who can take care of you better than the blue eyed Samurai. Give you a normal life in ways she cannot, at least not until her revenge is complete.
Mizu won't rescue you from the girl because you're smiling and content. Instead she will let you be, never mind the hollow ache in her chest when she sees you start to laugh.
You were just chatting with the sex worker, conversing on friendly terms, regardless of the girls intentions. But, how could your beloved Samurai know that from a distance?
Like an internal echo in your body, you'll feel Mizu's absence immediately and you'll go out into the snow capped village to find her.
She'll be alone beside a natural hot springs, sapphire eyes sad behind her orange lenses.
You'll curl up at her side as if she were your shelter, your blanket.
You'll know right away how she feels. Having learned how to read her slight expressions like the back of your hand.
Mizu is jealous but more than that. She's feeling like she's not good enough for you.
A ridiculous thought really. She couldn't be more wrong.
You'll reach out to take off her glasses and thread your fingers through her hair, undoing her up-do.
"I love you, Mizu. Only you. It will only ever be you who holds my heart."
Her gaze softens from your tender touch. She'll take your hands in hers and kiss every knuckle.
Her mouth, warm against your skin, travelling up your arm until her tongue reaches the moonlit column of your throat and she plants a wet kiss along your necks pulse.
Mizu doesn't deserve you, she thinks. Still, with you in her arms, open to her, your pupils blown wide with sudden lust... who is she to disagree with your choice?
Perhaps the gods gave you to her. A gift for her cursed existence.
"Say it again." She'll whisper against your flesh, hot to the touch despite the winter. Hot from her.
Her fingers deftly untying your kimono, her hands grabbing at your hips as she pulls into her lap.
Her calloused digits digging into your thighs to spread them for her, your chest pressed against hers...
Her fingers tracing your hipbones, making you shudder...
You gasp when they ghost over your navel and down... and further.
To in between your legs. The spot that craves her and is glistening like the hot springs rippling surface beneath the moon.
"I love you, Mizu." You'll moan.
She can't get enough of the sounds you make. Just for her.
"I belong to you." You'll whimper.
Ah, like music to her ears.
Despite Mizu's feeling of jealousy and her worry of being an undeserving partner, she believes you above all else.
You chose her, a miracle really, so she'll do anything to make you happy.
"You're only mine, huh?" She'll rasp, seeking reassurance, between kisses and gentle bites along your skin.
"Y-Yes. Only yours." You'll pant, her expert fingers bringing you to the edge.
Mizu smirks and holds you even closer. She could tease you longer, draw it out like usual but she wants to be good for you. Give you what you need.
In a moment of softness she brushes her lips against your collarbones...
"I love you. You are my life." She'll say to you before making you come.

I don't get why there are no resources for healthy expressions of anger. Are we as a society fundamentally opposed to people feeling anger? Are we afraid that if people get angry they're going to cause destruction so as an alternative we want anger to just not exist? Anger will go somewhere regardless of whether we want it to exist or not, and if a person who has good reasons to be angry, is not allowed to feel angry, they'll get eaten by self hatred and depression because that's what internalizing anger does.
It's also interesting that when abusers and people in power are angry, they can pretty much do whatever they like. Say no to them, they're having crazy revenges, they're tearing apart your stuff, they're starting wars, they're telling you how they're going to kill you in detail, no self restraint, no consequences, nothing. Anger is theirs to do as they please with and in response the society is just, too scared to do anything, so they assume that this specific anger is 'justified' and 'cannot be helped'. However when victims of something are angry, then they're labelled as 'unreasonable' and 'dangerous' and 'unable to move on from things'. Their anger is a problem that needs to be squashed, erased, there's apparently no justifications for these people to be angry, nothing that is reasonable or okay for them to do about it, they just get demonized and shamed for having a completely rational response to injustice.
Is that it then? Those who are able to act out on their anger, get justifications and obedience, but those who are helpless but angry for very good reasons, are just to be suffocated? Anger is allowed only for some parts of human society and it's the most violent, destructive and dangerous part of it too? Where is this getting us? Is the amount of injustice ever going to decrease if we defend injustice, and fight for it to keep going on?
If I look up ways to express anger, I get stuff like 'anger management steps', and 'letting go and moving on from anger', like excuse me. I didn't even get to express 1% of my anger and I need anger management? I have never had problems with controlling my anger, the struggle is to get it out at all! To integrate it into my personality, to hold people accountable without having to think about it, to show resistance when I'm being stepped on! What anger management? Why am I pushed to move away from anger, I haven't even arrived to anger!
Why is it assumed that every person who struggles with expressing anger is a maniac breaking things, enacting revenges, trying to injure or murder people, lashing out and doing harm to everyone around themselves. I can guess why. Because all of the resources are created for people who are letting their anger run wild without a cap and who use anger to get their way. The world is adjusted for people who are allowed to be angry, who were never pushed to the point where getting angry meant loss of survival, where expressions of anger would lead to torture. I am apparently not even considered to exist. I'm either a maniac or not a target audience for anger resources.
If someone's been traumatized out of being able to feel angry, people don't think it's worth having this person angry. It's very obvious this person has giant reasons for anger, so if we let them feel it, they could become 'dangerous', or 'just like their abuser'. You know, being angry at the abuser does not make anyone like the abuser, it makes them Normal. Rational. Having Self Worth. Human. Logical. Reasonable. Engaging in everyone's best fucking interest because you know that abuser is going wreck havoc forever and if nobody is even angry at them, it's giving them an even easier time. Anger is scary when it's in hands of abusers, in the hands of victims it is liberating, just, it puts things into perspective and back where they belong.
Now give me the fucking resources to get angry. I'm sick and tired of hating myself.

SKZ When They Get Mad At You
Warnings: Not much, all but Changbin's have nice endings cuz revenge arc resolutions are my fave, Han feature in Chan's. Swearing ofc, and mentions of blood in Chan's.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Y'all, I cannot stress the amount of confusion you will probs experience if you read this before reading pt1. Please read part one HERE and then come back. Again, feel free to send requests/suggestions if you like my writing! So without further ado, the highly requested(literally only 1-2 people but lemme be delulu) PART TWOOOO!
REMINDER! THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION AND IN NO WAY CORRESPONDS TO THE ACTUAL MEMBERS OF SKZ
Bang Chan
You stared at the closed apartment door in disbelief. Had your endlessly patient boyfriend finally snapped? He had given you time to get your bag and phone, but still. You were numb on the inside, but apparently that didn't apply to the stinging cut on your temple. "Shit..." You rummaged through your bag for tissues, settling instead for a napkin you had probably taken from a cafe. As you pressed the piece of flimsy tissue to your injury, you quickly dialed Han's number, letting out a breath as he picked up on the third ring. "Hey, what's up? Why're you calling so late?" Han's voice came through the line. "Um, me and Chan got into a fight," You stated, voice quivering. "Can you pick me up from his building?" "Fuck, sure." You heard shuffling on the other end and the jangle of keys. "Be there in three."
When Han finally reached the apartment complex, you rushed into the car to escape the chilly night. "What happened to your head?!" Your friend shrieked when he saw you and the blood-stained napkin. "I hit it. Can you drive me to the hospital?" You murmured, suddenly lacking any energy. "Yeah...yeah, hold on." Han pulled into the road, telling you it would be a ten-minute drive. Once you got to the hospital, Han hung back, typing furiously on his phone as you were ushered into a hospital bed. "Good news," your nurse said. "There doesn't seem to be any internal damage or bleeding, so we'll just patch you up and you'll be on your way!" "That's great, thank you." You gave the nurse a weak half-smile, turning to Han after she left. "You don't have to stay, you know. I can take an Uber back home." "Nah, I wanna see this." You turned to face the direction Han was facing, freezing when you made eye contact with Chan, who all but sprinted over to you. "Oh my god, are you okay? Han texted me that he brought you to the hospital. Why didn't you tell me you-" You held up a hand for Chan to stop, grateful when he actually did. "One, I'm perfectly fine. Two, I didn't tell you because you were too busy throwing me out to notice." "Babe, I'm so sorry." This time Chan stopped you from speaking. "The song I was working on wasn't going anywhere, and it was pissing me off. It's not an excuse and you should never have to deal with that again, but I hope you know it was not your fault at all." "But I spilled milk all over your laptop. You said I destroyed it." You whispered, still a little angry, and not entirely against guilt-tripping Chan. "I needed a new one anyway. Most of the keys didn't work and the mouse was half-functional at best." Chan stepped closer to you, gently taking your hand in his. "Can you forgive me?" “I guess. You gotta make it up to me though.” You grip Chan's hand, a small smile gracing your features.
“Well, that was boring.” Han huffed.
Lee Know
After your fight with Minho, you had gone to live with your parents. It had been a week already, and you had only heard from Minho once through text in the form of a text saying he was sorry. You ignored it then. You were by yourself on a warm Saturday afternoon, your parents out for an all-day wine tasting and vineyard tour, because apparently that's what middle-aged couples did for fun. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Over and over again, the familiar ding-dong rang through the house. "Coming!" You yelled, irritated at the fact that who had to stop reading your book. You scurried to the door, opening it. "I haven't ordered anythi-" Standing in front of you, several heavy-looking boxes behind him, was Lee fucking Minho. "Go away." You begin, turning away and closing the door, but he stop you. "Please...just wait." He run towards the boxes and rips one open. You cross your arms, watching solely because his strange actions are intriguing, not because he seems so sincere. Right? Minho pulls out a leather jacket with a small motorcycle charm on one of the zippers, holding it up like a trophy. "First date, at the park. You said you'd always wanted a motorcycle growing up, just so you could have a cool jacket to go with it." You were genuinely shocked for a few seconds, but you settle back into your icy demeanor. "That was three years ago." Minho frowned slightly, digging through the box and pulling out a pair of beautiful wedge sandals. "Our first anniversary. We went to the beach and you were complaining about how wearing flip flops was pointless because sand got on your feet anyway." He held up the shoes. "Problem solved." Lee Know pulled out item after item, ranging from clothes to books. Earmuffs because you hated having hat hair but always got cold during the winter. A special edition book that you'd been too scared to splurge on. By the time Lee Know was done, there we at least 20 different items in your driveway, each with their own little story. "Min..." You walk forward, keeping distance but picking up a book he bought you. "What is all this?" Lee Know perked up at hearing his pet name. "I was an asshole last week." "You were. Top ten in the world at least." You nod. "I guess I wanted to show you that...I love spoiling you." Minho gestured to all the objects. "That I listen. And care. I was awful to you for no reason and I said some things I definitely shouldn't have. Please, kitten, spend my money. Drain my wallet until all that's left is a few cents. Because then I'd know that I made you happy and not angry or upset." "Will you tell your parents to stop being mean to me?" You asked. "Already done before I got here." Lee Know opened his arms for a hug.
And you ran at him, ecstatic to be with the love of your life again.
Changbin
"Morning." You greeted Changbin, glancing at him before turning back to your coffee. Changbin awkwardly stood in front of you for a few moments. “Yes? Did you need something?” You finally look directly at him. “I was thinking, and…maybe we should break up.” Changbin whispered. Break up. The words clanged around in your head as you processed them. “What?” You asked incredulously. “We should break up. Today.” “Oh no. You don’t get to do this. If anyone’s dumping anyone, it’s me.” “What?” Changbin asked, which only spurred your anger. “Fine, then. So we’re over?” “You know,” You unlocked your phone. “I’ve been waiting for this. Last night, I got a text from someone named Kang Eunji.” Changbin’s face went from relieved to stunned. “What?” “Yeah…said she knew you very well. Wanna explain before I have to?” “Honey, I-“ “Don’t call me that. We broke up, remember?” You stand up, walking over to him. “See, Eunji was also dating a Seo Changbin. Except her Changbin said he was single.” Changbin stuttered, then opting to stay silent. “This sound familiar? No?” You went into the bedroom, and reappeared with three suitcases. “Maybe this will. Eunji’s Changbin said he was single. But she found out he wasn’t. So, she stole his phone while he was sleeping and found his girlfriend’s number, put it in her phone, and is now outside in her red convertible.” You smiled as Changbin rushed to the window. Chuckled to yourself as he gasped when your new friend was waiting just below with a sign on her car that read “I hope karma breaks your nose before we do, cheater”
And when Changbin turned around, you were gone.
Hyunjin
"Angel? Can I come in?" You knocked on the bedroom door, still a little tense from the argument earlier. "...yeah." You hear Hyunjin mumble from inside. You crack open the door and can't help but smile a little at what you see. Hyunjin's wrapped up in what seems to be a cocoon of several blankets, and his phone is in his hands. However, the icy glare he shoots you stops you in your tracks. "I fucked up." You take a step closer, halting when he eyes you. "You did." Hyunjin set down his phone, eyes softening but still wary. "I missed the meeting." You take a few steps forward, sitting down on the bed when Hyunjin doesn't react. "And we can't book another one because your manager doesn't like the fact that we're dating." Hyunjin waited, but any negative feeling towards you seemed to have faded. "So...I kinda stole your phone and called him." You braced yourself. "Wait, WHAT?" Hyunjin exploded. "Y/N, WHAT ON EARTH WERE YOU THINKING?" "I wasn't! It just happened. One moment I was in the kitchen and the next I was giving him a piece of my mind!" You throw your hands up in surrender. "He high key deserved it, though." "Babe, this is my career! I could ge-" "He said we could go public with our relationship." That stops Hyunjin. "Wha-what? Really?" "Yeah. Said that, ultimately, it was our decision to make. So..." "Love, that's amazing!" Hyunjin practically pounced on you, smothering you in a big and blankety bear-hug. "You're amazing!" "I just fixed my mistake." You laughed, rubbing Hyunjin's back as he peppered your face and with kisses. "Are you kidding? I gotta tell the others." Hyunjin grabbed his phone, typing in the password before gasping dramatically. "I'm about to tell STAY about my girlfriend!"

Infold needs to release a Cat Caretaker Part II where MC is the one who’s cursed by the kitty evol. I can just imagine how the LIs would react:
Rafayel
Absolutely waking up to his worst nightmare. His beloved bride is a cat, a horrible monster.
But she would be his cat. He would take care of MC and make sure she has everything she needs while staying with him for the week.
No painting would be done to Thomas’s dismay. MC is chasing seagulls down the beach and constantly knocking over Rafayel’s paint brushes when inside (when she’s not trying to fish Reddie out of the fish tank).
Rafayel just gives up getting any work done and cooks MC a seafood feast.
The worst part for him is that MC refuses to get in the water when he tries to get them both to take a bath. He is distraught that he cannot share his favorite time of day with her anymore.
Xavier
You think Xavier forgot how MC left him while he was cursed as a cat? Think again. He would make sure MC doesn’t forget and will stay by her side 24/7. Xavier wouldn’t abandon his kitty.
Their days are full of nonstop sleeping. Xavier already has the sleeping habits of a cat. He is in heaven being able to cuddle and nap with MC all day.
That is until she gets super hyper and is running around the apartment at 3 am and wanting to play video games.
Xavier decides he is going to cook fish for MC. Of course it is inedible to even a cat, so they just get take out again.
Zayne
For the man who loves cats, he is living the dream to take on the caretaker role for MC.
They cuddle in bed, he makes sure she is healthy and comfortable in her current state, and he buys MC snacks to satisfy her kitty cravings, including sharing super sweet desserts.
Of course, MC doesn’t forget how Zayne didn’t let her pet his kitty ears. She takes revenge by doing the same to him.
Zayne sighs in quiet resignation to not being able to pet her ears. MC eventually gives in and allows him to do so.
She also visits Zayne at work and surprises the kids in pediatrics. Everyone loves seeing her ears.
Sylus
We all know Sylus loves taking care of cats and his kitten. When MC shows up at his place with cat ears, he immediately demands she stays with him until she recovers.
He constantly smirks when calling MC his kitten, which happens a lot more than usual.
Sylus does panic when MC begins chasing after Mephisto around the base.
MC also sits in Sylus’s lap, kneading his stomach while he’s trying to work in his office.
His kitten is a distraction, but she’s a welcomed distraction.
Caleb
MC decides to stay with Caleb in Skyhaven while recovering from the curse.
Of course, we already know he would take care of her so she wouldn’t have to lift a finger.
They would watch movies while cuddling on the couch, and MC would follow Caleb everywhere around the apartment. He wouldn’t be able to even shower alone without MC being in the bathroom with him (not that he’d mind).
But watch out though. Caleb would keep his promise from the main story to put a bell on her so she couldn’t run away.

I took a ton of notes during my rewatch of 2x07 just now but the thing I kept coming back to again and again was Armand's framing of the entire narrative and how it plays with truth vs lies in such an insidious way it's honestly brilliant in its cruelty. Truth being used as a cudgel not only against Louis, but against Lestat as well. And against, us, the viewers at home.
We obviously all know Armand is a very powerful 500 year old vampire who is not going to be held back by an infant of a vampire like Santiago. Like… Armand. Babe. Let’s get real. But that’s the narrative set-up. The coven, now being led by Santiago, has Armand captive behind his little rickety baby gate with Sam and his prop weapon not letting the puppy come out to play. He cannot prevent it! Poor baby. Someone get him a juice box and a snack.
Enter Lestat. The vengeful lover come to make Louis and Claudia pay for what they did to him. What's interesting here is that everyone—Daniel, Louis, Armand—acknowledges in Dubai that the trial IS a sham from the beginning. A tool to allow Lestat his revenge. But the truth of why it's actually a sham is being hidden behind a thousand layers of gaslighting and deceit by Armand. Lestat is merely another prop on the stage. Being forced to use the TRUTH of his love story with Louis—and to twist essential elements of their beginning as a couple—as a weapon to drive the final wedge between them so that Armand might have Louis all to himself. That's what this is about. A farce so that Armand might have what he wants more than anything in the world. Someone who will be with him always. Without Claudia, without Lestat... who else is there for Louis to run to?
The trial as we see it is told mostly through Louis' POV. It seems to be a true picture of how it all happened but the cognitive dissonance watching him try to reconcile what Lestat was doing on the stage with the framing provided by Armand (who cuts in frequently to assure us that Lestat shapes things to suit HIS narrative) is painful. Louis sees and feels and hears the sincerity of Lestat. A Lestat who is defiant from the jump and refuses to paint the story as butchery. It's about LOVE. It is always always always about the love. An entire sham trial about vengeance and murder framed around... love.
Everyone who's familiar with the books already knows Lestat didn't want to be there. I won't go into that too much but the show did a good job of showing us just how unwell Lestat was during the entire process. But there are also some really interesting moments where we are TOLD explicitly through Louis' recounting of the events that Lestat was not actually there for revenge. Namely, the moment when Lestat says HE deserves to be punished alongside them. These are not the words of someone who is seeking vengeance. These are the words of someone desperately rattling the bars of his own cage trying everything he can to prevent what's happening. Because unlike a certain someone, in that moment Lestat is quite literally unable to prevent it!
The entire episode is Louis trying to reconcile the conflicting truths that exist inside him: that Lestat was there for revenge, that Armand couldn't prevent the coven from exacting their cruelty, and that the Lestat who was on stage WAS sincere and emotional and fighting with everything he had to let the truth ring as true as it was when he was able. He refused to refer to Louis as the accused every time Santiago insisted on it. He would only refer to Louis by name. He would NOT allow the narrative to frame him as someone who didn't also do monstrous things to his lover. He was weeping and flooded with shame. Sincerely, genuinely remorseful for the awful thing he had done to Louis.
There's also something else here about Lestat acknowledging he tried to crush what he could not own vs Armand deceiving Louis into the false sense of control that is the entire basis for their relationship. Owning something he does not crush, merely confines. He's not crushing Louis with insanity, he's locking him inside his prison of empathy. He quite literally has Louis locked in a cage while allowing him to believe he's truly free. Free from the insanity of Lestat. Evil, vengeful, gaslighting Lestat who only uses the truth to shape the narrative for himself.
There's a lot more going on here. I can't possibly get it all out of my brain right now and I imagine I'm going to be picking apart the nuances for a while. There are so many layers. The truth vs lies vs intentional reshaping of the truth of it all. But if you rewatch, pay attention to Armand's face, the score that accompanies his recounting of events, the passive way in which he holds his body in both Paris and Dubai. He's locking Louis in a dream world where the truth is present in such a way it only serves to amplify its own distortion. I don't even think he's fucking with Louis' memory all that much, just framing it in such a way that Louis cannot see past what is right there in front of him. What he already knows. If only he had just a few more tiny pieces of the puzzle...
But he's trying to get there. He is getting there. The truth of Lestat is breaking though. Lestat is still present there with him in Dubai, as real as if he were really in the room. After 74 years, Louis can still recall every detail of his face, still smile at him recalling the truth of his memories. The truth he wouldn't allow himself to look at all the way. The truth he himself had to distort for his own sake because it hurt too much. He's allowing himself to see not only the truth of himself and his own actions, but the truth of Lestat. All the complicated, sincere truth of him. The truth of the one who truly could not prevent it.

Tandem, this is an AU in which the Collector possesses Philip, and there are a lot of things happening afterwards. but now we’ll just retell how it basically started
@angstyhikka drew a couple of arts and helped me with coloring
This is an alternative development of events after the ending of the fanfic “At The Dawn of The Light” (it's not finished yet, but there is already an AU from the ending, yes). The idea belongs to @lasymit, and I (Lev) picked it up :3
Before King's Tide, all events take place according to canon. And then the following changes occur: the witches capture Philip and lock him in a cave in the Titan's skull. The draining spell is stopped without the help of the Collector, but he himself is not found. His mirror remains lying at the bottom of the pit.
For 10 years, Philip was under a sleeping spell. Everything would be fine, but when the Hexside squad wakes up Philip to make him help them with one super important problem, not only does he become mischievous but he also has problems in his head now. Luz and the team think that Philip is manipulating them (you can't blame them for this, Philip is Philip, even with a leaky memory and a leaking roof, he manages to be such an asshole), and therefore they torture him to force him to cooperate with them.
While Philip was sleeping, a cozy corner appeared in his head, in which there was nothing but a green hill, a small house and an apple tree. There, Philip, in his child form, lives with Caleb, who is a figment of his sick mind. During his 10 years in this mindscape, Philip convinced himself that this was reality. And the Boiling Isles, the cave and the witches who torture him are an endless nightmare. Because, on the Boiling Isles, he sometimes remembers that he killed his brother. But this simply cannot be reality.
At some point, Luz and Hunter realize that Philip is not pretending that he is seriously ill and no matter how much he denies it, he needs help, and they soften towards him somewhat. Although both have rather mixed feelings towards their dementia grandpa.
Even in the moments when Philip remembers himself fully enough, his attitude towards the Boiling Isles, Luz, Hunter and even his own mission has changed greatly in any case. He no longer cares about the destruction of witches and revenge for his brother. Philip is tired. Deadly tired. All he wants to do is sleep. He slept for ten years, and this was perhaps the first time in decades of his life that he felt peace and happiness.
While he is in this state, it happens that he encounter the Collector. This is a difficult meeting for both of them, but it all ends with the forgiveness of all grievances. They both don't want to lose each other now. The collector is still locked in the disk, but Philip has the opportunity to let his friend into his subconscious. Seeing the deplorable state of Philip's mind, he decides that he must help - after all, Philip is still his only friend. Collie asks Philip not to go to "sleep" forever, but Philip replies that he has no joy in waking up here. All he dreams of is never returning to the world of the Boiling Islands. The collector, frightened that his only friend is about to leave him, possesses Philip and promises him that he will get them both out of this nightmare.
This is how Tandem's story begins
a huge amount of detail has been omitted to avoid spoilers for "The Dawn". if you wanna learn more go check the fanfic *wink wink*
