He usually does this during winter because he naturally runs hot

Anyway, he pulls you in and kinda bundled the blanket around you two for you guys to cuddle and be as close as possible

What I think PJO character’s jobs would be!

Banging my head against the wall with some Riordanverse canon ships (or canon ages) before explaining how I would have done them

(no hate to Rick Riordan! I love his books and his writing style, but I do have problems with some of the writing choices he made). First I’ll start with the age gap relationships.

What I hate about the age gaps:

We didn’t need 16 year old Frank with 14 year old Hazel, because those are two wildly different age groups! To put it in a highschool setting, Hazel would be in Year 8-9 while Frank would be in Year 10 more or less?? He wodukve had his driving license when she hadn’t even done her IGCSEs. When he turned 18 she’d be 16. SIXTEEN. Bruh.

We didn’t need 16 year old Walt with 13 year old Sadie. Same problems as Frazel except worse by one year. (HE’D BE 18 WHEN SHE WOULD BE 15.)

And we didn’t need the 1000+ couples with under 18 characters! Especially with some of the character’s that are thousands of years old’s mythologies! (You know what I’m talking about).

How I would have written them!:

Frank x Hazel:

I assumed Frank was 15 or 14 tbh 💀 I don’t get why he needed to be 16?? It has no plot relevance and also it’s weird considering him and Hazel get together. I love Frazel but like… what is the point? Their relationship isn’t that terrible development wise, jsut kind of bland ig (in my opinion). I’d definitely have given them a lot more development and moments together before dating. I’d also like to make a point that their friendship was already going strong and they had a close bond before dating! If I were to rewrite the books in my own taste idk if I’d even make them get together? I think I appreciate them more when they have a deep bond without a labeled relationship. They’re close and they love eachother, and they want to be committed to eachother, but they don’t want to be dating <3

I also wanted to mention before going into Walt x Sadie that both Hazel and Sadie fall into the trope thingy Rick does where younger POC girls (Hazel is African American, Sadie is mixed) are paired up with 16 year olds. And it’s just really really weird. I’m white so I won’t comment too deeply on this, but I have read a really good essay about it somewhere but I sadly can’t find it :( if I do I’ll put it here.

Walt x Sadie

When I first read TKC, my first impression of Walt was a paragraph that described his appearance (random but I HATE HATE HATE his design in one of the graphic novels. He looks so adult and it’s weird since Sadie clearly has a crush on him. I don’t like the designs for many of the graphic novels in general ngl) and his age, which I read as fourteen, since it explicitly said he was two years younger than Carter. I can’t find the paragraph now, but every other source has said that he’s 16. Bc of this, I read the books assuming he was just a year older than Sadie and I still believe it even if it’s not canon. I wouldn’t change much about their relationship except age Sadie up to 15 and Walt down to 15 as well.

Now for the 1000+ relationships:

Anubis x Sadie x Walt

For Anubis x Sadie x Walt, I already did a sort of essay about how I would have written him and his relationship to Sadie to an extent (Idk how to link posts sorry😔 look up Anubis or TKC on my page and it should appear), even if I haven’t talked about his relationship to Walt yet (bc despite not being explicit, it’s clearly obvious Walt and Anubis are also dating, it’s not a situation we’re two guys love one girl, it’s a poly relationship). I wanted to mention it bc I thought it’d be weird not to talk about him.

Calypso x Leo / Calypso x Percy

Stop. It’s one thing to make a ship similar to Leo x Calypso were they both are at the same maturity rate while also having one be immortal, it’s another to make a teen date a goddess who has a mythological history of rape and SA?? No matter if the translation or copy of the Odyssey you own makes the ‘cheating’ consensual, the implications are STILL THERE. In PJO I also find Calypso bossy (which normally wouldn’t bother me? I’m also bossy so it’s jot that deep), rude and downright vindictive. The curse she put on Annabeth that happened in Tartarus? The blame on Percy for ‘leaving her’ and the whole ‘he promised to free me from my prison’ when he LITERALLY DIDNT. Percy promised to build her a garden in his city (or something like that sorry 😭), not to free her. Just. In general this relationship makes me feel icky and I heavily dislike it.

leo always being known for never sticking around ends up trapped with calypso on ogygia. like usually, he leaves and calypso is stuck. then he comes back and takes her away. ... but he takes her literally anywhere in the world. why were they in the sea of monsters, who knows... But leo's NOT a fighter. He lets others do the grunt work and helps through other means. a demigod (THE prophecy demigod if u will) traveling with a limited edition powerless titan 💀 i know monsters wanted to eat them up so bad, thats like caviar with a side of shrimp cocktail. whatever. leo = moves around. calypso = one place. It seems like she DID have fun but not because of leo, but because it was new things— she does all these new things without him now. Leo on the other hand is ready to settle at waystation. im not going anywhere with this but its cool that through knowing each other their mentalities switched. Leo = one place. Calypso = anywhere. they really are opposites but not in an "opposites attract" way, but rather when put together they just bring out each others flaws and frustrations. but this change is notable cuz leo is exhausted with demigod life, while calypso is ready to start her life... compare leo/piper/jason moving AWAY from demigod stuff to annabeth/percy/grover still going on trips and doing tasks and going to freak kid school

If anything it probs stemmed from a misunderstanding

Maybe you were cranky the first two times he ever approached you

And perhaps you may have taken it out on him

And maybe just maybe he thought u were those stereotypical condescending people

Basically what ensued from then on was just you two attacking each other verbally each time you ran into each other

But then you’re officially introduced to him by either Percy or Annabeth or anyone else that’s part of the 7 that’s close to you

He’d be especially shocked if it’s Piper or Jason who introduces you two to eachother

Of course that doesn’t automatically solve anything and you’re both total assholes to each other still

Leo is complaining about you and how could any of his friends also be yours?

You feel the same exact way

And unfortunately this is a case of forced proximity as is all my hcs because I’m an uncreative bitch

Maybe it’s just me but I’d imagine constant bickering and making faces would be a bit hard to ignore and go unnoticed

So they all agree to force you two to get along

So you’re on the Argo ll and are forced to clean the stables

(Before the Athena Parthenos is put there obv)

It’s not messy messy but it’s still something

You two both finally agreed to be quiet

But then he gets almost thrown out the window by the ship getting rocked by a monster or something

And so you have to save him by obligation

You two are literally hanging out the window and Leo is yelling like crazy bro

Eventually you bring him back and he thanks you

It was done reluctantly- you make sure he knows that

Plus the situation gives you material to make fun of him for 💀

Then some time after that you’re fighting some daily monsters and he (despite not rlly being a fighter) helps you out by firing some of the weapons on the Argo

This incident spawns this unspoken alliance??

Literally everyone else is made aware of it too and even they’re confused

But honestly at least you’re not constantly at each others throats anymore

Instances where you saved each others asses continued from then on out

It got to the point where you saved eachother so often that you became literal 4lifers

Like genuinely enjoying each other’s company despite the occasional off handed remarks

There was obvious tension that you were both teased for by your individual friends

Even couch Hedge acknowledged it 💀

And youd both deny it

I mean it was the obvious choice

But there had always been tension between you two if you’re being honest

Like if someone asked you if you thought Leo was cute , well let’s not say you’d say he was, just that you really couldn’t deny it

And so your interactions and dynamic continued all the way until the prophecy that started this quest came to an end

And so did you interacting with Leo

He was dead, and despite having liked him, you’d never be able to tell him.

Gods forbid YOU end up being the one that gets jumped

Even from the good amount of distance you’re away from him you can still very much see his- what can be best as described- upset demeanor

Why he looked that way? You didn’t know and couldn’t tell even if held at gunpoint

I mean with the way Leo looks at you, you’d think he spotted his only true want in this world.

The guy doesn’t say anything at all but then he sorta gains consciousness (?)

He tries to hug you but then hesitates- tries again/ then hesitates

Before he could do anything else you slap the hell out of him 💀

The act is honestly so violate and loud it was genuinely startling

Some would say that you jumped him that day of his return but what did they know??

And then you hugged him

A deep, emotionally charged hug

All the days you had spent mourning him, being tortured by his death that you couldn’t help but feel was avoidable despite the prophecy-

And yet you couldn’t help but melt into the hug

Obviously awkwardness follows after- and for a good while after too

But in the end you two end up together (per advice from emmie and Jo once Apollo casually mentioned the undefined relationship between you two as defense against a remark Leo had made)

And after Apollo is done at the waystation (and you’re not already involved there)Leo will ask if you’d want to stay there together and go to school and be “normal” teens.

Percy- The Little Mermaid- Jk LOL I think he'd be a real big fan of superhero stuff :3 I think he'd like young justice! Yupyup! Anything cool with a hero and fun battles and evil villans is his cup o tea (gee I wonder where I've heard that before...)

Annabeth- Archaeology, Geography, Anthropology deep dives, I'm thinking like MiniMinuteman videos (excellent channel btw) she is Def more of an audiobook girl then video or movie girl.

Piper- true crime documentaries, but specifically the ones that hyper analyze peoples movements and facial expressions.

Also a fan of Psychological horror movies the real unique ones!! Like Skinamarink and The Wolf House (HEAVY TRIGGER WARNING IF YOU WANT TO SEARCH THESE UP)

Leo- Shrek. He watched it as a joke at first but ended up falling in love with it.

Ever since he watched it he always gets Calypso to get matching costumes of Donkey and Dragon for Halloween.

Other then Shrek, he loves crack comedy(idk if thats the genre but it's something like that)

Jason- wholesome found family shows that always have a happy ending.

Frank- calming cooking videos. The aesthetic ones? If yk yk hehe. For movies he likes musicals!! And really likes movies with good music like Ratatouille and Spirited away! (He loves kitchen nightmares, British bake off and etc but he never tells anyone 💀)

Read Riordan has posted an article on scoring the villains from the Last Olympian a few days ago, but one villain kept me thinking—

Ngl when I first read TLO, my reaction was like Percy, ‘Ain’t Prometheus the dude who gave us fire and stuff-?’ But apparently, as things folded out, Prometheus was actually not helping Percy and trying to trick Percy into surrender.

(Yes Grover thanks for the heads-up on him being crafty😂)

However, I don’t think he’s entirely the villain we believe to be.

For one, there’s many reasons behind the reason why Prometheus gave humans fire. Some say he genuinely wanted to help humans; some say he felt rebellious; while some say he wanted control and power over something. Rick’s interpretation of Prometheus seemed to be him being the third reason as he was painted as highly persuasive and cunning.

Prometheus supported the Titans because he believed the Titans would win. However, that’s only a part of his reasons why he supported the Titans. I think people really ignore the fact that he was attacked by vultures 24/7💀 Anyway, he wanted revenge because the gods didn’t treat him well, which made sense because the gods weren’t exactly merciful at times.

Either way, Prometheus is another piece of proof that the gods aren’t all perfect as we are led to be. There’s definitely grey areas in between, and beings other than mortals/demigods (e.g. Prometheus and Calypso) can be affected too.
