Question. If I had, for example a oriental cat. And the cat mated with "normal" random bread, would their kits have normal looking proportions or would they had the oriental proportions, or would they mostly look like one parent with some features of the other??

+

(I'm asking for body type, not fur, just specifying, I'm mostly asking for my OCs that are siblings, one looks mostly oriental, the second one is weird mix that looks little more normal, and the third one is completely normal cat, I just want to know if It's possible)
This is a maine coon x oriental litter:

Honestly i think it's pretty promising for you. The red cat looks very orientalish, the black next to it much less.
If the parents aren't that important, maybe make one or both of them already a mix? That'd probably allow more variety.

Not sure if you've talked about this but what do you think will be Sansa's ending?
i mean there's no way to tell what castle or keep she'll end up in, you can only speculate general character trajectories. so in that sense, sansa's story is about songs. this is true for almost every character because songs make up the cultural imaginary of westeros, they promote ideals of chivalry and love and also lay down the fixed rules of social conduct for men (must be bold and go to war and engage in governance) and women (must devote themselves to the private sphere). the characters that are disillusioned most with westeros's cultural myth are the ones who transgress the boundaries of these gender roles and are ostracised and discarded by society for it. to put it simply, there are no songs sung for the aryas, briennes, sams, and tyrions of their world.
now sansa is something of a special case since she does not exist outside these social conventions but she's just as motivated by chivalry and love as almost everyone else in westeros. she has been taught an idealised feminine mode of conduct and the lie underpinning her story is that she'll be rewarded for it. the first time she's confronted with this lie is at castle darry when they behead lady, (“No, not Lady, Lady didn’t bite anybody, she’s good…”), her direwolf was punished for something it did not do, and it didn't matter at all that lady was the most gentle and trusting of the litter, just as it won't matter that sansa is the dutiful picture of everything westerosi society expects of women, she will be exploited all the same. which is part of the great lie of chivalry within the books that's being interrogated, that these songs normalise violence against women and their role within them is that of objects of desire, not active subjects. arya gets this -
[H]e sang about some stupid lady throwing herself off some stupid tower because her stupid prince was dead. The lady should go kill the ones who killed her prince
arya gets this not because she's 'smarter' than sansa but because she has felt rejected because of her gender non-conformity. so part of the point of sansa's arc is this, that she must reach this understanding as well, which is why she's resigned to a bluebeard narrative first where the reality of her existence as an object of patriarchal exchange is made clear to her through the lannisters, the tyrells, littlefinger, and sandor (this one has more nuance to it, like, it's clear he has a certain romantic fascination with her and has gone out of his way to protect her many times, but he also traumatises her on several occasions. that power differential which enables it is being interrogated by the text, it's why he doesn't get to be her uncomplicated loyal dog of a knight. yet(?)). the other point of her chapters is that, "life is not a song" is not true. those words are spoken by littlefinger and littlefinger is a liar. the songs also imagine a world where true knights protect the downtrodden and innocents are not harmed. idealism is not naive, it's the single most admirable trait a character can have in this book series. i think sansa discussions sometimes fail to differentiate between the criticism of marriage and the ideal of love in her arc, she's certainly not being told to grow up because this is the real world where "nobody will ever marry [her] for love" and there are no true knights. that's just not true. considering all this you can kind of see where this is going. she'll reclaim her stark identity (winterfell starklings reunion real. lady's bones are there + bran has a spiritual connection to the castle + needle was winterfell's grey walls and the laughter of its people) and she'll have to emancipate herself so if she ever wishes to marry again it'll be on her own terms, which doesn't necessarily mean 'becoming a player' she's not learning to be a manipulator sorry lol. we'll have to wait for twow to see if this evolves into a direct political trajectory of some kind (i've always thought we'll at least see her independently running a household by the end because she already had some practice with it as 'the lady' of the eyrie in affc) but i dislike all talk of her 'learning to play the game'. she's not. and it isn't even an admirable skill to have ("The worst were those who played the game of thrones."), the books are very clear that her strength of character does not lie in scheming (who is she even scheming against? where is this happeninggg. like i don't think 4d chess will be involved when she brings about littlefinger's downfall, petyr has spelled out his own doom by not really seeing sansa as anything more than a sexual object to be possessed) but her strength does lie in her exceptional will which she has already used once to great heroic effect. the hound was introduced to readers as one of the most formidable fighters and deadliest men in westeros and then this twelve year old girl unmakes him and his entire world through nothing but compassion, by simply existing as she is. and he fled! he fled from that little girl ashamed and repentant.

General Two Time Headcanons
Welcome to I have so many ideas for this sad wet cat, enjoy this feast of angst. Last Edited: 5/23/25 small grammar fix and added context to a HC.
Has trouble eating, the cult didn’t exactly have the best food so their expectations and trust towards food is abysmally low, the only one they trusted to give them actual good tasting food was Azure. (inspired from this lovely angst comic)
The first time they had one of Elliot’s pizzas they devoured it in less than a second, then profusely apologized for such unsightly behavior.
If they can they like to pray before eating.
Got their tail sometime after the ahem “Incident”
Said tail works on cat logic, slow movements means happy/content, lashing means upset and angy.
Those wings are sharp af, those spikes are more like sharp blades than actual feathers. Same thing applies to the tail.
They cannot fly with said wings, at most they can fan themselves whenever they’re hot.
They don’t mind others helping them with things. It would be rude to deny the help of another.
Slightly resistant to poison. (they liked to get nightshade flowers for Azure)
Anything that sounds remotely like flesh squelching under a blade causes their hands to tremble.
Loves weighted blankets, it feels like a hug. (It feels like they’re being held by Azure)
Before being Forsaken they always buried themselves under their bedsheets and blankets to sleep. (I say before cause I don't think they have enough blankets or anything remotely cozy in the Specters realm.)
They can stabilize their head just like a bird, it freaks Everybody out except for Shedletsky.
Knows a lot about Botany thanks to Azure
While I'm not sure of the details on how the survivors get food, I'm sure they managed to find seeds for a small garden, Two Time is in charge of the garden thanks to those skills.
They have a small plot separate from the food garden for some nightshade.
When asked by the survivors how they got such a in depth knowledge on plants they just say they “Knew Somebody.” and nothing more.
They’re very picky with others whenever someone tries to help with the garden, it’s one of the few times the other survivors have seen them get visibly frustrated about something.
Obligatory “If I stop watering the voices get loud.”
The ritual Two Time preformed was a real ritual, but the thing is it sure wasn't a second life ritual, the cult interpreted and translated it wrong, resulting in the ritual causing nightshade to grow inside them.
They don’t know about the nightshade growing inside them, although it’s been put in stasis since they’ve been Forsaken.
Sometimes they have bad coughing fits that sometimes end up with them coughing up blood because of said Nightshade.
Their blood is slightly off color. It still looks mostly red, but with a slight tinge of purple.
Putting too much pressure on their torso hurts like hell and they don’t know why. (Oh It’s not like a giant flower bud is growing there)
A few of the more sadistic killers abuse this knowledge. *cough cough* 1x1x1x1 *cough cough*
Depending on their mood they’re either unhinged af or a sad wet cat.
Doesn’t sleep well, constantly has dark bags under their eyes.
They like to think that Azure’s soul is within them, it’s a comforting thought for them to think that their love is forever with them as their second life. (It isn’t. Fuck the Specter and it’s bitchass)
The Specter feeds into that delusion by giving them some physical traits that belonged to Azure when they’re on their second life. Such as purple eyes, callused hands, a slight tan, and their smile.
Two Time has purposely put themselves into their second life when not in a round just to see Azure again.
They don’t believe the Azure that appears in rounds to kill them is the real Azure. They think the Azure in rounds is a manifestation of their guilt and pain.

if you don’t mind my asking, i was wondering whether the dynamic between voldemort and harry in either must die is what you generally envision for the two of them as characters regardless of the circumstances — like v treating and considering harry just a prisoner, never getting truly attached, taking advantage of him with every opportunity, etc, while harry seems to genuinely care — or if this is just one facet of the possible relationships they could develop over time?
just curious, since your voldemort in iritb is so much different from harry’s voldemort, and i couldn’t quite make out whether it was a conscious choice for the different characters you decided to pair him with, or if you’re just exploring different facets of the same person (v).
I think I write the same Voldemort most everywhere, with only slight variations in his environment. For example, in Ouroboros he is raised by Voldemort, in other fic by Merope, in others he stays in Wool's; in some of my stories he is bisexual, in others gay; in some he's young, in others middle aged, in others very old. However, even if I alter his circumstances, I do try to keep some core traits of him that are the same across all my stories.
Now, Either must Die Voldemort is older than It runs in the blood one; he has lost 2 wars, and is defeated and a captive; he has a daughter. In It runs, he begins the story at the height of his power, where he feels invincible. He is 50 something as opposed to 80.
Because of this alone, he would be at different stages of his life, and in different mental places.
Yet I don't see them that different from each other- it's only his circumstances that change drastically.
That aside, we are looking at him through different POV characters. We have a terribly depressed, very lonely Harry who barely survived a war but lost almost everyone he cared for in the process only to find out their sacrifices were for nothing, because Voldemort still lives. We have a man isolated by his own hero status, and he further isolates himself, trapping himself in a house he hates. A good man, one that is willing to sacrifice himself for the world, to help any stranger, to do the right thing.
On the other, we have Sirius, a tormented young man, trying to find himself, struggling between two identities; a man that holds great privilege, involved in an active war, with friends or family on both sides. A man that is also willing to sacrifice himself, but only for those who he loves- the rest of the world can go to hell, though. Sirius' moral code is nowhere near as rigid as Harry's. All the mentors in his life had been horrible people (Orion, Arcturs) while Harry's mentor was Dumbledore. Fairly soon in the story, Sirius also gains the protection of the Blacks back- a shield Voldemort cannot easily break.
And I think that makes the very big difference in how the reader perceives Voldemort; he truly isn't *that* different, only Harry and Sirius perceive him completely differently.
EMD V is also in survival mood- his goal is to get out of captivity, he doesn't have the luxury to care about anything else.
It runs V has the war under control- he can take the time to indulge in other comforts- as EMD V did, during the first war, when he started his affair with Bellatrix.
Harry wants Voldemort to be better; he wants to 'fix' him. He always hopes there's more to V, deep down, and he cannot love V as he is.
Sirius falls in love with V precisely because he's a deranged, power hungry maniac.
Voldemort still manipulates them both, only he uses different methods, knowing what works best with each. Yet he responds differently to Harry and Sirius, because of how they treat him in kind.
It runs V also has Horcruxes, and his brains are a tad scrambled, while EMD V, has his shit together, mentally.
I think Voldemort will always respond better to a partner that doesn't try to make him a more decent person. I think Bella (or Sirius) are much better fits for him, because they aren't troubled by his non existent moral code.
Harry in EMD feels nauseous when he sees V slaughter the men who kidnapped Harry and Andromeda. Harry fees nauseous when he thinks V killed Slughorn.
Sirius is *awed* when he sees V commit mass murder against the aurors. He eats dinner with V even after he knows he just killed the Prewet brothers, men Sirius used to hang out with. He has sex with V after V killed a bunch of dark wizards in Norway.
Harry is giving in his relationships with everyone. He gives, and makes compromises.
Sirius is aggressive in his relationship with V.
That being said, I don't think any story with V and Harry would be like EMD. It truly depends on the circumstances. Harry starts the story in a position of power over Voldemort- he keeps Voldemort captive, keeps him from his magic and freedom. Harry is also the boy that destroyed him, so many times, since he was 1 year old. Simply because of that, V could never truly love Harry. And when he does gain power, he gains absolute power over Harry; that, too, prevents V from ever looking at Harry as a partner. Their dynamics have always been extreme.
You can see (if you read my other Voldemort/Harry fic) that in Prison Blues, Voldemort is much more receptive and appreciative of Harry, simply because of different circumstance.
With Sirius, he starts by being in a position of superiority, yet Sirius is never truly defenceless. But we can see V still has the instinct to make Sirius his prisoner. If V would have survived Halloween night, he would have taken Sirius captive, and that would have ruined all that was between them, on both ends.
Sorry if I rambled too much! I hope it answered your questions! I truly like to keep my characters more or less the same in all my story, but just explore how they'd behave in different circumstances.

I agree with you on Sasori having szpd a 100%. Drop the reasoning pls tho🙏🏻 Sasori is not talked about enough
in my view, sasori (as a human) was in the middle of developing szpd + conduct disorder. possibly possessing autistic traits as well, though i will have to rewatch shippuden to get the full picture.
the reason i specify conduct disorder (rather than aspd) and "developing" szpd is because sasori is permanently a 15 year old after he made himself into a puppet. his brain never developed enough for his condition to be fully matured.
keep in mind that the information i am pulling from is solely from memory, and that i plan on writing a more thorough analysis essay on his character once i finish rewatching the anime. so there may be inaccuracies within this post.
let's begin with his past. his parents died in a war by the hands of sakumo hatake, leaving sasori alone at a very young age and without proper guidance. alone even when he was taken under chiyo's care due to her emotional neglect and general distant behavior. the most significant thing she did for him was introduce sasori to puppeteer (remember, chiyo blamed herself for not being there for sasori when he needed her the most).
sasori made puppets of his parents, craving love and affection. although this is not typical schizoid behavior, it is important to note that sasori is still a very young child who is struggling to cope with the loss of his parents. his symptoms are only beginning to develop, especially when he dropped his puppet parents and realized that these replicas weren't what he truly craved.
those replica puppets of his parents weren't enough for him, and this is where we see his first developing symptom of schizoid personality. he hates the yearning and vulnerability that came with craving something more real and organic.
now, most children end up spiraling in a pit of self-blame whenever they feel unloved or not properly cared for, even if its the caretaker's (chiyo) fault. continuously questioning their self-worth and trying to prove themselves to that caretaker.
if i remember correctly? we do not see this behavior with sasori outside of him trying to "fix" his loss through puppets. instead, he takes on the schizoid trait of severe emotional suppression. he doesn't try to form a connection with chiyo, even if there is a possibility of him wanting to. rather, they coexist under the same roof without actually "living" together.
chiyo's actions are considered to be severe emotional neglect that heavily damages sasori's way of processing, handling, and viewing his own emotions. and since he lacks a proper role model, his sense of morality and perception of the world grows to become heavily skewed. thus he develops conduct disorder or antisocial traits through his usage of developing his puppets and his lack of sensitivity towards life itself.
how he's more willing to turn his only friend into a puppet than to allow that friend to die as a person with his own will. the lack of empathy for another person's conscience; desperately trying to hold onto object permanence rather than the person themself.
vulnerability is something that sasori fears and resents more than anything. from his obsession with trying to eliminate as many physical vulnerabilities in puppet users once found by enemies, to his dislike for his own humanity.
the fact that sasori chose to become a puppet at the age of 15 feels like the snapping point of schizoid personality that only fiction can capture. the true elimination of feeling and heart. to live dissociatively and watching life pass on through the screens of our eyes.
for schizoids, we feel as though we live life mechanically. that our very own eyes are similar to that of our phone screens; the gateway to the external world that we otherwise contempt and feel threatened by. the schizoid personality is characterized by the severation of the external and internal world.
and sasori turning himself into a puppet feels like a very literal interpretation of these descriptions.
it doesn't help that there are many psychologists who theorieze that schizoids resemble borderlines during emotional crisis. how he almost "splits" on those he views to have left his sacred control or "system." splitting also occurs with schizoid individuals, though in a very different way since most of the time it is not emotionally recognized or processed.
speaking of his relationships with other people, he really doesn't associate himself with anyone willingly. he only worked with the akatsuki because he lost the fight against konan.
as for his puppets... they almost feel like a defense mechanism. protecting himself from the trauma he endured as a human as he isolates himself at a steadfast pace.
schizoids are human beings: so naturally, we, too, need community on some level in order to remain healthy. even if it's surface level.
but sasori takes this "surface level connection" to a whole new way when it comes to his puppets. because his puppets are his people, his object permanence that brings him a sense of security. many of his puppets were real people.
it's almost like his puppets are a barrier between him and the organic, external world. his verison if an internal world, solely owned and controlled by him. his space where he feels like he can control, eliminate, and control threats to his autonomy and safety. an enternal self-preservation without any outside interference.
i genuinely believe that with his track record of emotional suppression and general isolation, sasori's brain would have developed szpd upon entering adulthood if he had remained human. instead, it feels more like he buried himself into that disorder by force when he became a puppet.
i feel like i have more to talk about... but nothing else immediately comes to mind. thank you for reading.

It might have been too on the nose, but I sometimes wonder if it might not have flowed a little better for McKay's postpartum patient rebounding to the ER to have come before Joyce and Nandi in terms of the Collins Mohan of it all. It would have been a cool flow from Collins observing an instance of a specific care disparity that would be hitting home a lot at this specific point for her because of her own pregnancy (assuming the shift meant this would occur pre-miscarriage) – the maternal mortality rates of Black mothers is more than three times that of white mothers – to watching Samira be so focused on building trust with her marginalized patients, refusing to cut corners, and ensuring their symptoms are not dismissed. As it was, we got pretty much the first interaction between the two characters being an apology that seemed kind of out of the blue.
I've seen a lot of people say they don't think Collins would have used the Slow-Mo nickname at all, and I disagree with that – she mocks Whitaker after his phone goes off, she gets along well with Langdon whose whole deal is being pretty abrasive to other people, etc. It makes sense to me that she would have been dismissive of Samira operating at a slower pace initially, and then change her mind and apologize upon being confronted by new evidence. I think it would make her a less interesting character to say, "oh, she never said any of that". I can believe that she wouldn't have pushed the point as much as she did in the original script, with the "not in the ER" remark, but I find it very believable that she would have been mocking, and think it kind of does a disservice to her to suggest that she didn't have this capacity to grow and adjust her views in response to what she observes, and was instead fixed to whatever she initially believed. It also does a disservice to Samira to suggest that she and her actions have no role in changing people's minds about her.
This general principle is the same reason it kind of bothers me how little discussed it is that Mel spent the entire case they shared with that stroke patient second guessing Samira – contradicting her instructions to Donnie, asking both Mehta and Robby at different points if they should be doing her initial treatment idea instead of the one Samira was pushing for. Samira demonstrated both exceptional medical skill and plenty of patience for people doubting her, and Mel came to appreciate that!
It's a positive character trait that both Collins and Mel adapt to observing how good Samira is at her job! It's an interesting contrast to Robby pivoting on a dime to find something else to be mad about when she's right about something! It's really cool growth.

So, I decided to try @simspaghetti's TS3 Globetrotter Challenge. Above is William Watson, my starting sim, and his traits and LTW.
I used random number generation to pick everything, from his sex to his favorite food. I randomly picked one of the recommended traits for the stage (which turned out to be Computer Whiz) and then randomly chose four others. A couple of them were fortuitous for the goals in the first stage of the challenge, so I had some rare good luck. I also randomly picked from the available LTWs for the stage, and the generator picked Scientific Specialist. So, we have a nerd on our hands. :)
I'm using Saarqartoq for the first stage, "The Arctic." I started out using the populated version of it, but it lagged a lot and kept crashing and/or doing the "infinite save" thing, which my game doesn't do otherwise, so I had to switch to the unpopulated version. I let NRaas Story Progression populate it with 10 households. (Unfortunately without any cool Inuit names that I have no idea how to pronounce, but it's not like my Sims universe is the same as our own, so ultimately it doesn't matter.) I actually managed to remember to remove all my sliders before starting the save, so the game-generated sims don't look terrible, though I'm having to fix their clothing choices, of course. Also, I ended up with more single adults than the pre-populated world has, so William might have better chances of finding a partner, if he wants one.
ANYWAY! I'm putting my personal tweaks of the rules behind the cut…mostly so that I have them to look at, in case I forget. (I am 60+ now, after all!)
1) I'm going to play this legacy-style, in that I'll use a different sim for each stage, theoretically an offspring of the previous sim. If a sim doesn't have a kid by the time I'm ready to move on to the next stage, then…I don't know. I'll figure that out if it happens. If they have more than one kid, and one of them ends up with one of the suggested traits for the next stage (I always choose traits randomly), then they will be the The Chosen One. If no kid has one of the suggested traits or if more than one kid has one of them, then I'll probably pick the kid I like best to be The Chosen One, honestly. Or maybe I'll do a poll. Something like that.
This is all assuming that I manage to stick with this for more than the founding generation, of course. Historically, I've not had much success with that, and I think it's because I tend to use long lifespans. So I'm using a shorter lifespan for this, in line with the default EA "long" lifespan but with the individual life stages more realistically proportioned. I'm hoping that that, plus the "move on to the next world" thing, will motivate me to stick with it.
2) I'm not going to start the sim with just a tent. I've done that before in saves, many times, and I just don't enjoy it. Making myself do that is more likely to make me quit than anything. So, I'm going to start out each stage with the sim in a starter house, which may or may not be their "forever house," depending on how their life progresses. So this is William's little house:
It has a nice view over the harbor, with fishing spots right across the street, which is convenient. Once moved in and after buying a few groceries to start with, I reduced William's cash-on-hand to $100. Subsequent sims will get whatever they have left after buying their house because…
3) The sims for all stages beyond the first will have to have enough cash in their bank account to buy their starter house. My sims always have individual bank accounts. Whenever they make any money, it gets deposited into their personal account, less 20% which stays in the household's general funds for things like buying groceries. If a sim wants a particular thing for their own use, rather than entire-household use, the funds to buy it have to come out of their personal account, not the household funds. So, since The Chosen One will have to buy a whole-ass house, all offspring will have to work their little pixel butts off in various ways, in case they end up being The Chosen One.
4) I put William into the Medical career immediately, in accordance with his LTW, but the subsequent sims will have to interview to get into a job, if they'll have one, because I use the Job Overhaul mod. I'm going to do it this way because it can take a long time for an adult "founding" sim to successfully interview, because they have no skills unless you give them some, and I'm not going to do that. Since I'm not using a really long lifespan for this, William won't have a whole lot of time to build skills, so he gets to have an insta-career. The sims for subsequent stages ought to have skills, since they will (theoretically) all be born-in-game, so they can do the interview process.
5) Each sim will have to complete all the goals for the stage before I can switch out to the next one, even if the next sim is ready to go. I may or may not also require that they complete their LTW. We'll see how it goes. This will, hopefully, incentivize me to just "get 'er done" instead of farting around doing whatever.
6) Assuming that I make it past the first stage, I'm going to allow sims to travel to worlds where their relatives live and then stay there for a while, in order to build/maintain those relationships more naturally and to let those worlds advance once I've left them. I don't like the notion of just leaving everyone/everything behind with each stage. Otherwise, I'll follow the rules about travelling to other worlds that don't have relatives in them.

bit of thancred character musing under the cut that im gonna try to approximate from a 6am discord rambling into something i can actually post. both SHB and EW spoilers included
i saw some folks talking on twt about how guilt seems to be a very important factor in his life and i agree. i think a lot of major parts of his character and arcs have been due to guilt over something he did (or didnt even really do, re: the whole goobue rampage situation). it's driven him to work his ass off after louisoix which lead to him getting possessed... but its probably also what motivated him to do better for ryne after being forced to look his fuckups directly in the eye instead of just wallowing about them. but i think, at the same time, he doesnt really seem to, like... actually be proud of himself for a lot of the stuff he's done in order to work off that guilt? the biggest giveaway for that being the line in endwalker on the ragnarok where he talks about his "good deeds" cynically and seems to insist that they were never really that impactful in the first place. that they'll just go to dust when he dies.
in shb, during the ahm areng segment, not only does he talk down on himself in general, but also puts down his attempts to help OG minfilia back in the pre-ARR days... when i'm pretty sure she never even blamed him for the goobue rampage in the first place.
it's all a little bit sad to me, tbh. i've seen some people reason that, because he was only able to escape poverty due to louisoix seeing potential in his thieving skills, he's essentially internalized the idea that he's only really worth keeping around by ANYONE if he's actively being productive, either helping others or trying to fix whatever fuckups he feels he's made. i think that would explain a lot of this
note the "few positive traits" line, which to me comes across as "i was only picked up out of childhood poverty because he thought my skills were useful." though i don't really know how much of that mentality he's managed to work past by post endwalker. he IS able to go off on his own, and mentions that he trusts the scions to keep themselves safe now... but as i ranted about before, the short story points out that he's only really content to rest briefly before he feels obligated again to seek out unrest to try and help, specifically mentioning minfilia again. also, a couple times during the story, notably post ARR after his possession, mid SHB after he's wounded in a fight with sineaters, and post SHB after he passes out due to the weakening soul-body bond, he seems to dislike even having to rest for medical reasons
it's a pretty interesting part of his character to me. idk if the writers specifically had his rigorous upbringing in mind when they wrote these parts of his character, but to me it would make a lot of sense as an explanation for why he's so averse to rest and why he carries so much guilt and why he's so passionate about keeping the folks around him safe. that's kinda been his whole reason for life since he was a kid-- using his skills for the benefit of others. to him, doing anything other than that would be a waste, it seems.
idk. funny guy makes my heart hurt. yes i had all these dialogue screencaps saved and on hand. yes i am a little insane. what of it
#ffxiv#um idk if i wanna tag this. maybe. whatever#thancred#thancred waters#shadowbringers spoilers#endwalker spoilers

I hope this dunking on white people is gonna stop soon
A wise man once said that to end racism is to stop talking about it.
The need to bend over backwards to appease certain audiences has gone so far that we can't even have a Snow "White" or fairytales that reflect the area they originated from. (it's up to debate when there are different versions but if its the Grimms version there is no debate for me)
The need to constantly berate or belittle white people to make yourself feel better really is just an excuse to be shitty to these people. And a shitty person in general.
(I think there has been a bias to some degree in the past but swinging full force the other way is wrong too)
We need to stop elevate one group of people just to belittle another one.
That way these people aren't better than their "oppressors". And pushing back isn't always -isms or -phobia... this narrative has to stop. The people are sick and tired of it.
IF this nonsense ever stops (and we haven't nuked ourselves off the earth) I wonder how people 100 or 200 years later will look back to this time and what they think...
The worst offenders pushing this crap are liberal white women (with heteronormative traits but they act LGBT to be trendy). I could build a profile based on the last two in the MLA fandom who accused me of being a 'white supremacist' and blocked me for being a Trump supporter.
There's Fungs...mid-thirties, shut in, only leaves the house to take cripped dog out to poop and pee. Projects dysfunctional self-inflicted physical/mental state on favorite pookie. Will probably live in parents' basement and sponge off them for life. No husband and/or kids. Will never become productive member of society. Then there's Frost who has all those same characteristics except she, -despite being a white woman- only makes black ocs with orange-ass hair. Probably never interacts with black people on daily basis due to never leaving the house.
Since I'm a white woman with a family who has seen discrimination against whites in the workplace due to DEI policies, none of the bullshit flies. Since this ask was received, a white high school aged boy was murdered down in Texas, stabbed in the heart. Twitter is all abuzz over it, but the mainstream Pravda media is silent. SJWs claim that the black murderer did it over 'sitting in the wrong seat'. Here's what really happened:

People put up those pop-up canopies to store equipment for their school. It's unclear if Karmelo Anthony was sitting there to loot. It's possible he was there only to cause trouble and pick a fight with the first white guy who dared say something.
Matt Walsh did a segment on the beginning of his show the other day detailing how since CRT has riled up the black populace, there have been many instances of black males going around picking fights and murdering white people for no reason.
IE: Lawrence Herr a handyman was minding his own business fixing his elderly mother's mailbox in a suburb of New Orleans when two black men 'out hunting for white people' drove by and shot him in the head.

-But anyway, radical Marxist academics be like......

......and then minorities respond by........

Some of the victims (too many to count):

The above was talking about Seth Smith who was murdered by an anti-white racist for the sin of being out for a jog on a college campus.

This wouldn't surprise me because of the way we all know foaming-at-the-mouth Marxists can get. USAID money probably went toward this:

Christians are told by people who hate Christianity and want it wiped off the face of the earth that we are being "UnChristian" if we don't cheer our own destruction and support policies promoting the end of Western Civilization.

Audrey is a far-leftist who hates Christians and white people for sure.
-And finally, a random:

One can see the suggestions in the comment section. They seem pretty innocuous.

sims 3 challenges you can actually fail at
i feel like the sims 3 is perfect for really hard to survive challenges because you can really get creative with them, but every "challenge" i see is like "have 7 generations named after colors" or something else that doesn't really threaten failure or require any mastery of the game. so i think i have some ideas that are actually genuinely insane instead:
first idea: trap 2 sims in the first two of a series of rooms separated by community lot bathroom doors, alternating in a line like M-F-M-F- etc. with only a sim starting in M and F, find a way to get somebody through 5 more doors, in just 10 in-game days. no sims (including npcs!) may enter or leave the building once the challenge starts.
second idea: on some very flat and featureless world like an emptied hood or builder's island, start with 1 male sim and before he dies of old age ensure he has a grandchild. disable all service sims including paparazzi etc, and do not allow him to leave through any loading screen. his children may go anywhere they want, but must show him his grandchild while he is still alive. You must have seasons for this to be possible. Even then, it requires a lot of luck.
third idea: using one sim, arrange the deaths of as many neighborhood sims as possible in a single lifetime, without using any mods or switching households. bonus points if your killer stays single, and has a miserably bad set of traits for socializing.
fourth idea: with the "no fridge shopping" mod, starting on a deserted island such as the original midnight sun, reduce your starting funds to 0 after moving in... and cook every recipe! traveling to other neighborhoods is allowed as long as you pay the price, but that will be extremely difficult in the beginning especially if your starting island has no spawners! (more difficulty is good btw)
fifth idea: create an ice sculpture portrait of the grim reaper
sixth idea: you can only eat, sleep, and bathe at other sims' houses. it can't be the same house two days in a row.
seventh idea: become a playable ghost without getting the "it's a life sim" game over popup.
eighth idea: have a sim live it's entire natural life underground from birth, and achieve as high of a LTH score for that sole sim as possible. any other sim in the family can go wherever.
ninth idea: as a ghost catcher, cause more hauntings than you fix. (uses a display item from WA)
tenth idea: come up with your own difficult, deadly, possible-to-fail-at challenge :)

i need to so badly know your opinions/thoughts on wilfre and sock
Unsure if this is the same dtl anon as before, but either way HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR BEING CURIOUS!!!!! I would be more than happy to share! Because the phrasing of this ask was pretty vague, I winded up writing a multiple page essay in an attempt to cover everything wilfre/sock related. So it's all under a read more. That being said, if I've not covered something you were specifically curious about, let me know. I have a million more thoughts on the two (or the whole game!) I'd be happy to share. Here's an additional drawing I made to accompany everything :^]
For those unfamiliar with the drawn to life series, please be warned MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!!
So, to get into it! I figured I would start with the very basics: wilfre, sock, and the rest of his forms. A lot of folks have different interpretations on the intricacies between wilfre and his disguises! I'm a believer in the fact that they *are* all the same person (in contrast to how some people believe them to be disguises created from stolen appearances/stolen bodies)... but different facets of this same person. Essentially, normal raposa wilfre was a wholly fleshed out being, and every other form he takes exaggerates various traits of his. Flanderization, I guess, but only to a certain degree. Shadow wilfre is an elevation of his more sadistic tendencies, sock is an elevation of his cowardice, and salem is an elevation of his mystery/flair for the dramatic. Granted this is a fairly barebones description of the way his forms worm since I do believe there to be more to these characters and their behaviors, but what I've said already gets my point across well enough for a generalized "what are your thoughts" type of question. Though I will say, sock's spotlight on cowardice is especially interesting to me considering- at least from what I've seen- wilfre's character being largely dictated by his own fear is not something focused on often by fans; it's much more common for you to see him just being cool and evil. We'll come back to this.
Another thing that comes from my belief of them all being the same person is that wilfre absolutely *did* design his separate forms with conscious intent (with an exception of shadow wilfre, which was likely only natural corruption of his form following his exposure to shadow). It speaks so heavily for who he is as a creative!! He likes being a little edgy and snobby- hence salem's design- and he also doesn't think too far ahead sometimes- hence sock's name, which absolutely had to be something he thought of on the spot! So many hints at who he is as an individual outside of "the antagonist" are hidden away in small details like that.
Now, with that out of the way, back to the topic of wilfre's fear!
In the first game, his sights are not set nearly as high as they are in the sequel. He chooses to spread shadow over the whole world as an effort to fix what the creator ruined; he WILL take matters into his own hands and bend the world how he pleases if it means a reality "done better." While there may have originally been truth in such a goal, his reasoning is slightly disingenuous considering it's more of a rebellion than an instance of wanting to actually better the world (due to his inability to ACTUALLY fix things how he wishes he could). Wilfre has a habit of convincing himself he's correct though, so it makes sense why it pans out this way. The writing of the first game makes it out to be a lot more malicious and pointlessly evil than dtl:tnc. Sort of always seemed flat and boring to me in how it's presented so I tend to have to embellish it a bit in my fanworks lol. It's also at this point that the fear which drives him isn't as obvious... while there are suggestions of it in dtl, it's ramped up a whole new degree in dtl:tnc. For now, most of what the player sees sets the stage for this development with wilfre's struggle against power imbalance.
At the very beginning of dtl:tnc, this framework of a power imbalance comes into play almost immediately when wilfre is spoken to directly by the creator. It's almost insulting to him considering he prayed and begged for some kind of answer for so many years, and yet only when he is far past his worst- when he is no longer devoted- now he hears them. He's livid and extremely reactionary about it! In part, this is due to justifiable anger, but I've always been lead to believe fear plays a large part here as well. His manner of speaking shifts, he hesitates; he's unsure, only for a moment before breaking out into an extravagant display of his power. Almost as if to reaffirm his control of the situation. As the game progresses, these sorts of actions increase in frequency.
Alongside these sorts of direct fear reactions popping up much more often, wilfre's shifted goal also reflects the terror which motivates him. His sights have been set on bigger things by this point: saving the world by freezing it in time and space. It's destruction is imminent if he doesnt stop those who try to return color to it. It's an action SOLELY motivated by fear of death, something he develops an almost obsessive fixation with.
Wilfre's thought process during the execution of his plan tends to follow the idea of "you can't bake a cake without breaking a few eggs," which is essentially the equivalent to "you can't save the whole world without killing or harming a couple people along the way." Even if it requires him to create a sterile, barren, unmoving world, he will do anything to prevent the physical destruction of the world... to prevent death. This is something he considers noble and just; something which makes him a savior. Realistically, freezing everything EXACTLY how it is is not much better than the world and it's inhabitants fading out of existence; it's basically the same thing! But when fear dictates logic, it doesn't need to make any sort of sense. Self preservation is the most and ONLY important thing one accounts for.
Sock, specifically, embodies wilfre's myriad of fears to a whole new level. Rather than fear being combated with a reactionary display, he cowers, hides, and acts dismissively towards a various amount of situations. I'll delve into this a bit more later in a separate point, but while some of this may be to manipulate others in the situation, it's not uncommon for wilfre to do/say something that puts on a front while masking other meaning. It's just that his typically inward thoughts tend to project themselves outwardly in this form of his!
Keep in mind that while I do believe there to be reason behind wilfre's logic and actions, that does not necessarily excuse all or even most of them. Do not misconstrue me!!! He's killed people, he's trapped people both in physical cages and in time and space, he's psychologically tortured others, the list goes on. And that's what makes him so fascinating! He's not a good guy! If you erase or excuse all of his terrible actions he becomes so much less interesting as a character and antagonist. But its undeniably interesting to look into the psychology and motivations behind his actions.
Moving on from this, it is also worth noting that I am a HUGE proponent of jowfre and it's very much so interlaced with my reading of the story/characters. Let me explain:
Sock, as a character, stands out to me a lot in how he is a major turning point for wilfre. According to his plan, the "sock" disguise SHOULD be another approach to the same issue at hand: preventing any raposa from impeding on his end goal. Disguising himself as salem was his first attempt at this... but holes were quickly poked in it's execution, and he found that prevention by force would not be successful. Instead, he then goes the opposite route; by disguising himself as sock, he can befriend jowee (who at this point has assumed the role of leader), gain the trust of others, and destroy their group from the inside. Which works! ...A little too well, he finds, as he too starts to believe his own lie of being someone who cares about jowee and his fellow raposa. And in return, he is gifted something he thought impossible in his current state: jowee's genuine friendship.
Now obviously this is a BIG DEAL. For a lot of reasons. For one, it's a hell of a lot harder to endanger the life of someone you care about than it is a random stranger who hates you (worth noting that every time this happens in the game, it becomes increasingly passive to the point that any danger isn't even coming from wilfre himself, sock just suggests that everyone leave/give up). But even less than endangering someone's life is breaking someone's spirit. If he can break jowee's determination and make the village give up on their mission, he'll succeed. And yet this is STILL something wilfre can't find it in himself to do.
I have two personal favorite examples of this that stick out to me. The first is the infamous treehouse balcony conversation... where jowee is heartbroken about the disappearance of mari. Discouraged and lost, jowee confides in sock, airing out his grievances. It's an ideal moment for sock to reaffirm jowee's broken view of himself; jowee wouldn't argue with the state he's currently in. Instead though, sock listens to him, encourages him, and comforts him. One can argue that it's a simple manipulation tactic since it's the perfect moment for wilfre to gain jowee's trust, but it's always stood out to me as something very... vulnerable. Jowee *is* the first raposa wilfre has had casual conversation with in ages anyway...... it's as if he's relishing the feeling of being able to relate and be on equal ground. The shadow has influenced his entire being, yes, but there's an undeniable glimmer of humanity in him still that yearns to escape. It's also here that we get critical insight to wilfre's inner principles when he tells a (likely fictionalized) tale and ends it with "I made a decision that- regardless of consequence- I would succeed." It speaks so much for who he is at his core and how right he believes himself to be. He's sharing BIG things with jowee rather than breaking his spirit.
The second example of this is following the first hint of mari's betrayal: when she steals the book of life from jowee. Accusations are being thrown around, faith is dwindling, and the entire village is on the brink of collapse... but when jowee comes forward with the notion of wanting to try again, to not give up... out of everyone else there, sock is the first and only to speak up. Cheering for him and encouraging him forward. Without him doing so, the mission would have failed. WHICH IS CRAZY BECAUSE THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT HE'S BEEN ASKING FOR!!!!!! The entire time he's been accompanying the village he has again and again (and will continue to) try to get everyone to back out of what they're doing, to split apart. But when it's served to him on a silver platter, he can't. IT'S FASCINATING!!!!!!!!
As I said though, jowee's friendship doesn't just come with one issue for wilfre, but multiple. Arguably the most egregious is the fact that it makes wilfre question if his grand plan of draining the world of all color is really right. If it's something he should even bother to do. Which must be a realization so chilling considering *he is doing so to save the whole world.* How can such a pest of a single raposa make him- the great and infallible wilfre- waiver in his confidence? This particular issue is all implication rather than direct statement; I've mentioned previously how sock gets less and less pushy as time goes on, instead vouching for generally avoidant approaches, and this is what I'm referencing here. It's downright procrastination rather than prevention!
Wilfre drags the execution of his "destroy jowee's village from the inside out" plan out for so long that he only acts when he's desperate. When there's nothing else he can do, no further thing that might delay them. He's been backed into a corner and knows jowee is far too determined to quit. And so, he drops the act. He steals heather's pendant, reveals himself as wilfre, and escapes.
I highly doubt it's intentional (and I'll get into the details on why I find this legitimate reasoning regardless of intention later), but I do find it interesting that he waits until the moment in the map room to ask for the pendant because it directly follows jowee having an outburst about wilfre and how terrible he is. Realistically, it would have been even more in sock's favor to have stolen the pendant while jowee was alone with him on one of the islands they visited. At that point, the other villagers may even have turned on jowee- their leader- out of suspicion. Better yet, sock could have stolen the pendant away while jowee slept, eliminating the need to get caught entirely. But he doesn't. It's not until he's desperate AND is directly getting reminded that the person he most cares about hates him that he acts. It's a nice callback to the aforementioned treehouse conversation the two have: regardless of consequence, regardless of losing someone he had come to care about, he would succeed in carrying out what he meant to do. And so he does. He tries to, at least.
A brief interruption from this point to speak on the writing quality of the games themselves. The drawn to life series contains two separate writing approaches: multidimensional storytelling and face value storytelling. "Multidimensional" in the sense that the writing itself mirrors a character/dictates their identity (e.g. jowee's writing reaffirming his position as someone thought of as unworthy) and "face value" in the sense that the writing tells the story in a straightforward sense with no hidden meanings (e.g. most large plot developments). It's pretty fascinating! Now, do I think this approach of dual writing systems was intentional? Well... no. Truthfully it's my opinion that the writing in the game is fairly underwhelming and not very well thought out. It's not a masterpiece by any means. But despite intent, the dual writing system is very much so at play, and one needs to approach the game being ready to actively parse through which is which.
I bring all this up to say that occasionally, the blatant multidimensional storytelling embedded in the games' writing is really just meant to be normal, face-value storytelling. Certain interactions or events seem deeper than they really are, implications come to the surface due to it, etc. And because of this, the growth of certain characters is entirely stunted. Namely due to the fact that while the player expects said character(s) to act in a certain manner due to implications previously made, this character will instead act in a wildly unexpected way because it was what the writer initially intended. And as we've established, intent does not equal correct execution. By far the worst example of this is the latter half of dtl:tnc, where wilfre tears the appearance of "sock" away with no remorse and escapes to his wasteland. After all the build-up of his blossoming relationship with jowee, his dynamic character development, and overall stakes rising, the player is suddenly brought back to a very static, unsatisfying square one... a completely out of left field 180° with character direction. I've always suspected the reason for this was that midway through the project, the script writers realized the villian had become more sympathetic of a character than one of the main protagonists (mari) and out of nowhere switched it up, cut off character arcs, etc just to ensure their original intent was preserved.. even if that ultimately led to something that felt clunky and odd.
A bit of a longwinded side tangent, but it all prefaces my next point: if the games were written with more care and without the literary biases present, wilfre would have had a redemption arc. Or at least an arc where he sees his redemption as a choice, but turns against it.
I know, I know. You can't simply see a villian character you enjoy and go "well I think they should've had a happy ending so I'm going to let AU reflect my analysis of the canon media." That's not what I'm saying here! It's not just a simple wish for better circumstances influencing my thoughts. I would have been 100% okay with an unhappy ending for him either way, if only the writing didn't handle it in a way so jarring. Because it *is* jarring though, I try to work with it by incorporating it into my analysis rather than just discarding it as unusable, disingenuous storytelling. Case in point: what I did with my jowee pmv... you GOTTA boost the drama and stretch the truth a little bit...
To wrap this very long response up, I wanted to briefly mention very minor miscellaneous thoughts I have about wilfre that didn't fit in with any other main topic I touched on:
Based on my interactions with the fandom, I've come to notice there are a LOT of people who seem to think wilfre doesn't believe in the creator. In reality, he very much so does, he just thinks they suck lol.
I think it's very cute seeing how wildly out of practice wilfre is living as a normal raposa. He's spent so long as a shadow that things which used to come so easy to him are such a chore now (e.g. in lavasteam where he breathlessly chases after jowee trying to keep up with him.. he's so used to floating he's out of practice actually carrying his bodyweight around).
I have always read drawn to life as being a story relating heavily to forced role fulfillment; a character must fill the role they are given, or the world/their own self will fall apart. Assuming you're the same anonymous asker from before, you've seen my pmv, so you know how evident jowee's forced role fulfillment (or lack thereof) is throughout the games. But wilfre is also a shining example of this narrative theme! Many of the issues that the raposa world suffers from (be it relationship disputes, societal structures, general unhappiness, etc) are oftentimes tacked on as something wilfre is somehow at fault for, however loosely. The shadow's influence leads him to lose a lot of his humanity (raposity?) on its own, but his role as the scapegoat does as well, since it warps him into more of a concept than person. This is another reason his paralyzing fear of death is so critical to get across; it returns some of the humanity and dimension to him which make him more well-rounded.
I mentioned that sock becomes more avoidant as the story progresses, but what I've neglected to mention is the fact that wilfre is generally very avoidant by nature. Despite having more power than any other thing he commands, throughout both games he incessantly tries to have the hero and others dealt with through indirect means (other bosses/shadow creatures, influencing potential allies, robbing raposa of resources, etc). It's a pretty obvious behavior that dictates his character, but is further enabled in the circumstances I elaborated on outside of these notes.
Not very wilfre-specific but moreso just general info: I do not consider the newest entry in the series of drawn to life: two realms canon in the slightest so none of my interpretations of stories or characters will ever stem from two realms events. Sorry!
Wtf is up with him being weirdly flirty with mari at the end of tnc btw. I usually just excuse it as bad writing and that sudden shift in character I talked about. Which is funny because if that character shift is indeed the writers overcompensating then that means they were worried about too much gay tension between wilfre and jowee I guess LMAO there's literally zero reason for it otherwise.. it's so ooc and out of left field. Can I just write this dude myself please.
Thank you so much for asking in the first place... I love talking about these guys!!!!! <3 If you can't tell, lol. Hope you found it interesting, I'd be happy to elaborate further if anyone's curious. Just know it might take me a little while since it took me about a week to get to this ask haha

I started to read NC recently and omgg I love it soo much. I love the way you write your story it's really smooth, going from one pov to another without any cut and all.
I also love how you describe the Spider-society!! I know it's a really specific thing but I loved that you said there might be some room for spider heroes if they need it and the same for the cafeteria.
Could you tell me more how you imagine it in general? Do you think Miguel is paying the heroes somehow and all? I'm curious !!
Nonnie, hiii! Thank you for the ask!🥰
First of all, thank you so much, omg! I’m glad you’re loving NC and those aspects of the story. I truly hope you continue to enjoy it! 🥹💖 (Also, I’m so sorry for my delayed response 😭 I’m still catching up with notifications😔)
But, sniffles you enjoy the descriptions/info regarding the Spider Society within the fic? I’m so happy about that! My fic is quite long, so sometimes those details get lost, especially with Miguel and Dulzura’s shenanigans lol, so thank you for noticing that! 😊
But yes, I imagine that the building has a dorm sector, or at least a small area where members can stay at in case they find themselves unable to return home due to issues. I incorporated that bc Miguel accepted Gwen to join the society after the situation with her father, realizing she couldn't go home since her father was going to arrest her and also witnessing the fact that her own father almost 🔫 her. He did it to give Gwen somewhere to go and also a support system in the Spider Society.
About the cafeteria, I think it’s free! I don't see Miguel as the kind to charge members for a human need (food) and especially when there might be some members like Gwen; unable to go home, jobless, are a minor, or anything like that that leaves members without access to food.
I’m not sure how far you're into the fic, but in one chapter, I also made the mention of a program that would financially help members who are unemployed, or need some assistance. Some people might disagree, but I feel like it’s something that Miguel may be doing because he has to know how different his financial situation is compared to the others.
When he said, “but I’m not like the others” I believe it references how he's different in more than one way (not just that he makes hard decisions other spider people find difficult to make), like his origin story, unique powers/traits that are not usual for a Spider-Man, and his financial status, too!
I think it’s clear that he has money (unless we’re all very wrong, then… rip to his wallet 😭). But there’s no way he isn’t since there's a few things that I think suggest so:
• The spider society building. Either he owns it, which is a financial asset he can sell or rent, or he rents it from someone else, which would mean a lot of $$$ going towards rent since it's a large building. I think it makes sense it's his, though. I can't imagine how he would explain to the landlord why there's so many people in suits running and swinging around, and about those who look different (like Noir or Spider-Ham💀). People have theorized it may have been the building where Alchemax used to run operations in and he owns it now after everything that happened with his bio dad (comics info).
• He doesn't seem to have a job, like a 9 to 5 in some lab. I think he's so devoted to maintaining order in the multiverse that he can't have a proper job now, and being wealthy would allow him to not worry about one.
• We know for sure that some services are already available to spider members. For example, members can upgrade their suits there. We know so because Peter B. tells Miles they'll get his suit fixed right up or make him a new one since they all dislike his suit because of the “bleeding armpits”. This is a service that requires money since supplies/equipment would be needed to upgrade suits.
• All the technology and equipment he has laying around his lab is likely expensive, and he has a ton of stuff.
• I also want to add that Miguel gives me strong vibes of being financially literate, meaning he knows how money works and how to multiply it, like through investing. He's an extremely smart man, literally a genius, so it makes sense he'd be knowledgeable in this department. That's just my opinion, though. There's no evidence to suggest so, but I feel like he is financially literate, especially since he doesn't seem to have a job now and it'd be wise for his own financial well-being and to support the Spider Society’s operations.
So yeah, I think Miguel's wealthy and that he knows he's different from the others.
Since he has so many people running around, I’m sure he knows how hard it’s for some spider members to maintain a job (and who need one 100% because they're not as well off) because of their double lives as superheroes. I’m sure he has learned about a few members losing their jobs at some point (thinking about Tobey Maguire’s Peter who lost his pizza delivery job rn😭) and is also aware that a lot of them don’t have family anymore because they’re deceased, or they may be older family members, so these spider members can’t lean on anyone at all, or on those still present in their lives financially.
I also think about those who may have children. There's possibly a few others other than Jess and Peter B. who have children and may be single parents, or can't make ends meet because only the other spouse is working/is able to maintain a stable job, and it's not enough for the household. And again, maybe some of these heroes have elder family members, who no longer work etc. I think Miguel would definitely feel compassion for them and try to help. 🥺
So, I think Miguel definitely helps spider members out by offering these different services/options because he has the means to do so.
Idk if he pays them per se, as in, he has a payroll system. 🤔 I think most spider people are typically very unselfish, kind people — not the type of people who would accept to be paid for being part of the society/helping save universes. They're doing it because they wish to help, out of their own sense of responsibility.
That's another reason why I think Miguel would set up these services for free; the members are not getting paid, but at least they can go to the spider society headquarters and find a free warm meal, somewhere to rest, medical assistance (something else I think is likely offered), and financial assistance if they need it.
I'm sorry for the long response, nonnie! 😭 You probably expected a short answer and I'm over here writing a short essay💀, but I just wanted to explain my reasoning for my decisions regarding the Spider Society in NC! 💕
Thank you so much for the ask, nonnie, and for appreciating those details. I hope you continue to enjoy NC! Also, I hope you're having a great weekend so far! 💖

hello!! What do you think what would the Nordics do if they broke a bone? Like idk, one of them brokes a bone, what does he do and what does the other do? I'm probably not making sense, I hope you understand and if you don't understand, don't worry.
No worries, I think I get it. This is actually my favourite headcanon format.
So, I'm going to say how each of them would break a bone, where or which bone they're each more likely to break, their own reactions plus the others' reactions.
For simplicity's sake, the others' reactions take place at the hospital or back at home. They do not react to the incident itself because that will get complicated.
In Denmark's case, I would imagine the accident is probably related to biking. Either he gets into a crash, breaks his leg or the bike itself gets caught and he goes flying over the handlebars, breaking a wrist.
His own reaction is to try and stay as calm as possible. This is for several reasons. 1) if he got into a crash with someone else, the last thing he wants is for them to be worrying about him while worrying about themself. Especially if they got hurt too. 2) he always goes biking the exact same time everyday on the exact same trail. Everyone who takes that trail knows him, and he doesn't want them to worry either. 3) if the other Nordics see him panicking, they'll panic too. Another reason is that focusing on staying calm in of itself helps distract from the pain.
As for Sweden, he used to make fun of Denmark for getting hurt, but he stopped that because even though Denmark may have broken a wrist, he has another one he can punch him in the face with. If both are broken, he has legs, and if both legs just happen to also be broken, Iceland doesn't take too kindly to having Sweden make fun of Denmark when he's hurt, so he'll probably be willing to uh... Relay the message.
Finland is very prone to freaking out. He's pretty squeamish when it comes to injuries like this. Sprains and breaks are the hardest for him to handle, so he's nowhere to be found until that bone has been popped back into place and put in a cast.
Norway is about as useful in this situation as a towel dipped in tepid soup. He just stands there pretending to help out because he sucks at comforting people and doesn't want literally anyone addressing him.
Iceland is by far the most helpful. He assures Denmark that his beloved bike has been taken back to be fixed. Iceland brings him some comfort items and pretty much spends the rest of the day chilling with him and helping out if he needs anything.
In Sweden's case, I can imagine any broken bone would come from transporting heavy furniture. When I first started headcanon Sweden, I didn't want to make the IKEA thing a big deal because it's more of a meme than a character trait, but I headcanon that Sweden needs everything organised a specific way, and he finds reorganising his house very therapeutic. I'd imagine he'd get injured accidentally dropping heavy pieces of furniture on his feet, maybe something falls while he's installing it and breaks a rib.
Regardless of how he got injured, Sweden has been blessed with the ability to hide his pain pretty well. He uses this to direct his energy into figuring out his next steps. He makes exactly two phone calls. One to Denmark and one to England. England is responsible for taking Sealand and Ladonia and taking care of them until further notice. Sealand is essentially his kid, and Ladonia isn't much trouble + free tech support. Denmark is in charge of taking him to the hospital.
Just because Sweden is a grown ass man, that doesn't mean he can get out of Denmark lectures. Denmark always gets on his case about safety and generally not being a dumbass when he's installing heavy pieces of furniture.
Finland is again, very terrified in general, but he still tries to be helpful. I forgot to mention this in Denmark's, but he's usually on flower and greeting card duty.
Norway is still very uncomfortable, but he's a lot more involved because Sweden to Norway is like Denmark to Iceland. He'll just sit there with him and wait until Sweden needs anything.
Iceland is less worried and more irritated. Not at Sweden, but at the nurses who are convinced that Sweden's lack of response is an indication of a higher pain threshold which is not the case. They keep insisting that the over the counter pain meds they gave him are enough when it doesn't take a lot of braincells to tell that they most certainly are not enough.
If Finland were to break a bone, it would be as a result of his habit of not ensuring he's well out of the danger zone when cutting down a tree. See, Finland likes absolutely wailing on trees with an axe for the same reason Sweden likes arranging furniture. It's therapeutic plus he gets firewood out of it. However, he's not exactly the most careful and while one could argue that diving out of the way of a falling tree is very fun, the fun only lasts up until you miscalculated, one thing leads to another, and suddenly, you've got a broken leg, and it's stuck under it.
Finland's response is definitely a lot more frantic than Denmark or Sweden's, but that's understandable considering his situation is a lot more dire. He also does the whole tree cutting thing at a good distance from the house to avoid accidents. Thankfully, he has his phone very close by at all times, so he can usually pull it out and call Norway. Why Norway? Well, his troll is the best at removing a giant tree from on top of someone pretty quickly.
Denmark always worries a lot about Finland because of how accident prone he is. Finland is also treated to a Denmark lecture.
Sweden takes over flower and greeting card duty for this one. He's also a bit more concerned because Finland doesn't really learn from these mistakes, and he just knows it might happen again.
Norway will make fun of Finland ruthlessly, but he gets a pass because 1) he's Finland's best friend and 2) he's the one who had to deal with him.
Iceland is a lot calmer, and he takes his role as the braincell haver very seriously. Yeah, he'll let Denmark, Sweden and Norway lecture him, but the second he starts feeling like they're being a little too mean for his liking, they will get shit from him.
Norway is a whole other case. I feel like Norway is most likely to get hurt skiing or hiking. Maybe he takes a nasty fall and ends up falling on his arm or leg weird, ultimately breaking them.
Norway is prone to fainting in these situations because the sight of his own blood/an injury on his body is very panic inducing. He curses enough to make a sailor blush.
Denmark also pretty much explodes. Norway getting hurt is on his top ten list of not good things to happen. He's pretty great at comforting him though. 'don't worry about it, buddy.'
Sweden is losing his collective shit because that's his actual baby child. What do you mean he's hurt? You'd think he was the one who broke a bone. Norway's the one who has to tell him to calm down.
Finland complains with him about whatever Norway managed to blame the issue on. They both eventually end up complaining about anything and everything. At least it keeps Norway distracted.
Iceland is pretty useful as usual, but his true moment to shine is when it comes to the recovery process. Iceland is the most guilt-trippable human being to ever exist. He ends up doing literally everything for Norway for at least a month afterwards. Norway even manages to keep it going after he heals.
Iceland is where all hell breaks loose. Considering Iceland's obsession with extreme sports. He's pretty safe doing those usually though, so I can also imagine that he gets injured doing his regular sports. Iceland does figure skating, soccer (it's more a hobby than anything really), and he does swimming. I can see him breaking his leg doing one of those.
Iceland has an insanely high pain tolerance, but he is not superhuman. He can compose himself enough to call Norway and let him know that he probably should go to the hospital mayhaps. He doesn't give a ton of details because he doesn't want Norway to freak out. When in the hospital and after his leg's in a cast, he makes it very clear that he doesn't want anyone panicking.
Denmark is inconsolable. He hates the idea of Iceland being hurt in anyway at all. He knows that him crying is probably the worst thing he can do in front of Iceland, so he tries to calm down. He immediately fails and sobs into Iceland's chest while sitting next to him.
Sweden pretty much drops everything and spends the entire time in the hospital with Iceland. He tries to comfort him, but it ends up with Iceland having to tell two grown ass men to stop freaking out because he's perfectly fine already.
Finland has severe age blindness as discussed earlier and is convinced that Iceland is like 5, so he's trying way too hard to be really comforting, but like... That's not how you handle an Iceland. Iceland is extremely chill, and he doesn't really need someone to be all gushy, but he appreciates it nonetheless. At least Finland has the self control to not also cry.
Norway feels like the worst brother on Earth. Iceland will be relentlessly spoiled for the next decade or so. He has to pry either Sweden or Denmark away so he can actually sit next to Iceland and just hold his hand with both of his until the initial chaos is over.
Thank you so much for the ask, Anon! I really appreciate it.

I have some things I disagree with in regards to the talk of Louis’s image. While I do believe that certain things are highlighted excessively like the smoking, laddy lad, and chav stuff. I don’t think everything Louis says is a lie. Maybe he doesn’t like to work out or diet. Maybe he does enjoy a burger and beer at the pub. Maybe he would rather go see a game of footie than to the ballet. Maybe he does enjoy watching shit reality tv. Why does he have to have the same image as H? A lot of fans prefer and like Louis because he’s more relatable and down to earth. I don’t want him to be pretentious and stuck up. I’d rather hear him talk about his favorite sports team than about art. He does have things he’s passionate about and it doesn’t have to be the same things as Harry. I just feel like we can point out the image downfalls and also acknowledge the good parts. I don’t know if this makes sense and isn’t directed at you so much as in general, I’ve seen some Louie’s making it sound like they just want Louis to be a carbon copy of Harry. I don’t care if L goes to museums. I don’t care if he runs marathons. I just him to be okay first and then have a long successful career and fix his image and put out good music. But he can improve his image while still staying true to himself and not becoming just another snobby LA celeb.
Hi, anon!
It does makes sense. I've seen several fans cherry pick what sides of Louis they like and say that's his true self, and everything he says and does that they don't like, they ascribe to his fake image and persona. The problem with that is that fans like different things, so they don’t agree on who he really is. I know it's really difficult to parse out what is genuinely Louis and what's either said and done as his persona, or it's heavily exaggerated or given a heavy focus. But it doesn’t help if you're biased.
My biggest issue and annoyance with Louis image and persona have always been the stereotyping and trying to make a multi-dimentional man a one-dimentional one. They're trying to make him seem like he's a simple man. Vodka and redbull, the football on the telly and his mates around. He's is that, but he's also so much more than that. He can be one who hates working out and dieting, but still tries to get on the treadmill every now and then. People have met him out hiking in L.A with Harry. He was papped eating salad with DC at least twice (when he had a different image and they went for a more "clean and proper" image). He's said he eats a lot of seafood at home (living with a pescitarian will do that to you). Louis loves himself a fancy cocktail and i can't imagine he's stopped going for pedicures. We've seen glimpses of his art collection (and just heard rumours of pieces he's bought over the years), and we know he’s really into interior design.
There is a whole side to Louis that we hardly ever get to see, because it's being overshadowed by this simple lad persona. I think Louis is a man of multitudes, he's got both masculine and feminine traits and interests. I find Louis utterly fascinating and i'm so tired of being presented with a Louis who can't even say what he likes about living in London, in case he accidentally reveals something actually interesting...
Louis isn't Harry, but the interest they share and the things they have in common (pretty sure Louis frequents the men's pond too) are kept away from us, because he needs to present straight and masculine. It's come to a point now where the persona he presents it isn't beliveable anymore. It's too fake, too exaggerated and too hypocritical.
Louis is not his persona, but his persona isn't devoid of the real Louis either. It's just figuring out what's really him and what's not, and how fans are going to react when they see the real him, that's the hard part.

(Ignore this post, this is me documenting my Sims Tantiss telenovela playthrough for myself lol. Probably one more of these and I'm done.) Previously in Tantiss Pasión y Deseo…

I made Scorch call one of the girls he got pregnant to see what the option of "talk about pregnancy termination" is about. Buuuuut I forgot how fast time passes in this game, so, it was already too late.
And since she and Scorch are nothing romantically I didn't get the option anyway. But he does get the option to question or deny being the father. My friends at discord insisted for him to deny because "If it's not Hemlock's child he doesn't want it." xD
And I find so funny that he has to ask if she's pregnant. Like… I'M PRETTY SURE YOU KNOW HOW THAT LOOKS LIKE SCORCH!

I hope those experiences taught him how to open a condom box. If he gets anyone else pregnant I'm scheduling for him to get fixed alongside CX-2 at the vet. And I'm actually curious if his bio kids will look more like him than custom Project Necromancer. I doubt it lol.

And speaking of Project, he started school and not long after it…he wants to bring his new classmate home. NO PROJECT! THIS IS HOW YOU START FUCKING FAMILY DRAMA!

Imagine Hemlock arriving from work, entering the house and seeing the surprise visit. He would stare at both kids like this.

"Project, why did you bring him here?" On another note, I got a cloning machine, so finally I can create my army of Clone Commandos. This is Tantiss so I need it. … Too bad the only commando I have as a template is an unstable, dumb and horny guy. And the cloning process apparently wasn't perfect, it's not a 1:1 copy of Scorch; first he came out with a beard, second, he has FOUR traits, three of them being bad traits the original doesn't have (evil, mean and jealous), and third, his name is "Kingston".
So… basically an evil twin. I guess what Lama Su said is true "It must be frustrating, having the resources, but lack the expertise." Hemlock can't do the cloning like the Kaminoans. But it's funny that as soon as I left him to his own devices in a social place, he started flirting with the second girl Scorch knocked up and with Hemlock (autonomously). Apparently it's in his genes to commit the same mistakes lol.
Oh and I love how his bio says "Clone" I wish I could pin that on the batch and all clone characters in general.

And speaking of the batch, while I figure out what to do with clone Scorch, I sent Project Necromancer to them. Poor guys are raising 3 kids while being broke. They barely got this used fridge and this chair they probably found in the garbage (and yes, Hunter has his modded hair texture glitched lol).
But that doesn't stop them. They follow Tech's example; not even death can keep him from following his exercise routine.

And funny thing, Scalder kind of de-bitchcify ever since there are no kids in the house. Her red bars with the other household members have decreased (except Scorch, they are probably at one conversation of stabbing each other). Which I think might be realistic to some people xD
However, I have a love…square? happening in Tantiss right now. These three are all after Hemlock's ass.

So, when the four of them are the only ones in the house it's a jealousy fest and I have to make sure they are all doing something so they don't autonomously flirt in front of one another (Hemlock doesn't get jealous, but these three do). It seems there's no professionalism in Tantiss. Tarkin was right about keeping an eye on them. Which is why everyone releases stress hitting the big plush named after him.

Also Hemlock has a little fish beside his bed called Palpy.

Oh… and not only one, but BOTH girls Scorch knocked up freaking died…of anger. I hope it had nothing to do with Scorch, because Dina and Scorch got along *bad* (literally despised each other), and it was not much better with Kassandra. Every time any of them interacted someone got angry.
And curious thing, Hemlock's genealogy doesn't have Glove anymore, pic it's before the adoption.

I think Emerie is kind of… too nice? I have nothing to narrate about her. She never gets into trouble. Rampart too, but it's different because he just pretends to be nice (have to master that to be a politician) but he literally has the "evil" trait. It's all lies and manipulation. His thought bubble has "make friends" but then he's happy when making enemies lol.

Also... he might have started to flirt with Kingston. I can't manage all the jealousy tho. I have to pick who will have the happy ending. The other ones maybe should move out of the house and get away from the toxic relationships. Give a proper ending to this telenovela.

omgomgomg, your miiiind.
okay, renee as lady ebisu is an amazing choice; her trying to save people at all cost, regardless of the consequences because they're her responsibility?? chef's kiss. ruthless renee vs overprotective andrew might actually kill me.
blind boar god really is a hard cast, because wymack would be a great choice (going from peaceful to deranged because of the pain and suffering and curse, and andrew desperately trying to fix it??? hello???), but also it would be interesting to have him as Stuart for Neil to want to save another deranged boar when the first one is basically actively killing him rn (do you see my vision?? the narrative parallels are right there!).
aaron being a wolf and andrew a human, but both being "twins" because they're the same age and were bonded close to, but their differing appearances make a rift between them, because they're not "the same", bringing tension, but still not enough to break them apart, because they would die for each other???
if you got anything on your mind about this au, do spill, i will eat it all up, no hesitation.
i'm emotional :') (i might not have watched princess mononoke in over a decade, but this is, like, core memory that is part of the foundation of my existence. i could scream about this for hours)
i pulled out my laptop to answer this ask bcus GODDDD I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT LADY EBISU AND RENEE. in general not nearly enough is done with renee's past, mostly because neil spends most of the series not liking her / feeling uncomfortable around her. and also bcus it IS in the past, but lady ebisu is my favorite human character in princess mononoke (again. yakul number 1) and i think she really deserves to be spotlighted and RENEE CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN.
like lady ebisu is kind and she is magnetic and people are extremely loyal to her and she is ALSO ruthless ambitious and violent. making pre canon renee have all of these traits to show how she can grow into her kindness but also just how incredibly nuanced the major themes of princess mononoke are in general with environmentalism and industrialization like agh. also san and lady ebisu being two sides of the same coin....andrew renee parallelisms win again...plus this means i can make neil and renee lowkey friends or like at least hammer in that Respect between them since the reason neil dislikes her in canon is due to the mask she wears NOT her ruthlessness violence (imo.)
the blind boar cast is really killing me bcus i DOOOO think the only male adult character that andrew would be willing to try and save like that is wymack, and even that is a stretch (considering the zombie apocalypse conversation). so i think i will be going the stuart hatford route because 1 - fits with my boars as crime syndicates thing going on 2 - i probably just won't have andrew make a crazy effort to save him bcus unlike san, andrew would be very susceptible to becoming a demon / monster due to his own control + anger issues. 3 - i also think i might do some backstory fuckery with neil ? like mary trying to escape from the moriyamas rather than nathan (since nathan is a boar god) and one of the boar gods like gives neil a blessing or something idk again. workshopping. but i do want mary neil to still have a runaway thing while also having neil be Destined like ashitaka (neil being given a boar blessing as a child leading to his like anger issues but also his will and determination to then being cursed by a boar to die. you get me. the circular aspect of his life).
twinyards make me emotional in this...we know san was thrown at moro as a sacrifice so that the other humans can escape...okay so now imagine this is like young andrew with the spears and he's thrown away by cass bcus despite everything he has never been her real child like drake...okay great now imagine puppy aaron having also been thrown away by his mother (i've decided moro/bee just like adopted him and nicky. do NOT ask me if that makes sense it probably doesnt but i dont care. its about the parallels.) and so bee sees aaron in andrew and they're the same and they get to play and grow up together but they will never be truly connected because andrew can't escape the fact he's a human....also the andrew human vs monster of it all. so good so delectable i have got to open that google doc.
#asks#aftg#neil josten#andrew minyard#renee walker#aaron minyard#princess mononoke au#yapping#anyway as u can see i have a lot of thoughts about this. sadly i have papers due this weekend and i have to figure out my sched for next se#otherwise i would be dedicating all my time to this
