Another idea for the JL meeting the BatFam:

You know how there are prompts/fics where they capture Red Hood and arrest him because they just know him as a crime lord and not Batman's son, until Bruce shows up and pretty much bails him out??

Take that but have the majority (if not all) his kids be villains he's taken in to help reform and live better lives. They don't fight crime (yet) but they like lurking about in the manor and in the cave.

The JL needs to meet somewhere due the Watchtower being closed for some major upgrades and repairs, and it's voted that the Batcave would be the next best place. Bruce isn't happy about it, but begrudgingly let's them hold the next few meetings there.

The first few went by smoothly, but then one day one of them, most likely Hal or Oliver, notices something in the corner of their eyes and they just see large, golden, eyes stare back at them. And they tell the others about it. They're about to get ready to fight, when Bruce just lets out the biggest sigh and says, "Dick, please, everything is fine."

He's not even looking in the direction of the eyes, so he can't see the heavy "I fucking doubt it" look the young man has on his face.

The JL eventually sits back down and resume the meeting, all while feeling an intense stare on them. If you ask, none of them jumped when the young man propped himself against Batman's chair. The meeting, thankfully, ends quickly.

And the next few meetings introduce a few new faces (another young man, this one with a white streak in his hair. He almost always had a loaded gun in his hands, if not blades he was cleaning. And then there was a boy, who looked a bit too much like the Joker, and was constantly pranking them. No one wants to talk about the time Dick showed up again, this time with a girl and younger boy and any silence was broken by birds chirping).

Once they're able to get back to the Watchtower, they demand answers, and wow is that a long story.

I read two fics some time ago with Tim dancing along with Cass, and omg, it changed me- Because... JUST THINK ABOUT IT-

Tim being a rich kid, with really strict parents but who are flexible enough so that they don't have prejudices regarding very conventional gender roles. And thanks to this, Tim is put in classical ballet classes long enough to be able to wear pointe shoes.

Tim likes it to a certain extent, as the exercises, physical conditioning and muscle elongation help him to be able to follow the bat and bird duo around Gotham. Over time he stops attending classes either due to his parents' influence to focus on some other activity, or because he preferred that time to coordinate patrol routes and get more photos.

By the time he starts being Robin, he no longer attends ballet classes. The training left a small mark on the way he moves as Robin, but nothing too noticeable. He finds it easy to jump really high and is able to land silently and smoothly. He doesn't get dizzy easily thanks to the pirouettes and fouettes his teacher made him practice daily.

Also, training with Dick is easier than when he trains with Bruce, since with Dick there are really similar exercises thanks to the older boy's training in the circus as an acrobat. The elasticity is not comparable between the two, but Tim has enough so that some of Dick's exercises are not so impossible for him.

Cut out when Cass arrives and Tim notices that she likes ballet, and even more surprisingly, she dances ballet! It is thanks to this that Tim manages to find a common point between the two to be able to start a friendship, with Cass being really excited to know that Tim also knew ballet!

They both connect thanks to ballet, Tim, taking advantage of the fact that they were both quite similar in height and complexion (even in face, which still leaves him wondering sometimes if they weren't secret twins?) shares with her his leotards and shoes, at least the training ones. Because although Cass can stand on pointe with amazing ease, Tim prefers to help her go over the basic training to get on pointe. Because literally, those things break feet, and he doesn't want to see his adopted sister go through that (We're talking about Cass, though.)

By the time they've been through about two months of helping Cass go over the basics, and remembering moves she remembered seeing from when she lived in the basement of that Ballet school, she can get up on pointe, and Tim hands her some cute yellow pointe shoes that he got years ago, when Robin colors still drove him crazy. So when Cass wears them, they're flexible and soft, not hard and uncomfortable like the ballet slippers one recently bought.

And Tim, he has his cream pointe shoes to wear, also used and flexible, comfortable like an old toy you haven't used in a while and despite everything, you still know how to play with it.

They both select certain days to practice and dance different pieces of music, Tim occasionally teaching her the classical pieces she doesn't know, or showing her how to dance as a couple. Although for this he takes off his pointe shoes and goes back to his leather slippers.

They keep up this routine even when Damian arrives, and so far the only one who knows what they're doing is Alfred, basically because he's the one who usually does their laundry and tidies up the room they use to dance. Making sure the floor isn't too slippery and the furniture is pushed up against the walls to make room. Every now and then, they both invite him to watch a specific dance they've practiced, like a snippet from Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, or The Rite of Spring.

As more time passes, Cass takes more liberties in the dance and fuses ballet with something more contemporary, while Tim sticks to classical ballet. They keep dancing, but now each one gives a personal touch to each pirouette, pas couru, and movement. They make a temporary bar with pvp pipes, which despite everything, works wonders for them.

Maybe Bruce is the first one to find them, after a particularly tiring day in which he just wants to be alone for a few moments and decides to go to the rooms less used, he hears a classical melody from one of the rooms that supposedly, should be empty. And when he goes to see where the music was coming from and why, he finds his two children playing a fragment of Carmen (Gipsy friends duet) and is more than surprised by the ability not only of Cass, but of Tim! Bruce had no idea that Tim could dance ballet, did he learn it now from Cass? Or is it something he already knew?

Whatever the case, what surprises him the most is the amazing coordination of the two, they seem to be the reflection of each other. And with regret Bruce admits inwardly that if it weren't for the distinction of the clothes and the hairstyle, he would swear that he was seeing double.

I get that a lot of people hc that Tim and Cass look alike, but I like to imagine Jason and Cass look alike because Jason probably looked similar enough to Lady Shiva to think she could've been his mother.

Like imagine Bruce always seeing flashes of Jason in her... And then, Jason comes back, and Bruce starts seeing flashes of Cass in him... And neither of them really gets to be seen as their true selves because of Bruce's idealized version of the other.

Danny gently touched Cass' cheek. Her skin was cold and pale, bloodless. She did not move as Danny gingerly held her face and pulled her closer to him.

Jazz was still next to him, eyes wide with tears streaming down her face.

"Danny," she whispered. "Say something."

Danny hummed. His expression was placid. Anyone who didn't know him would've said that his expression was bland. Anyone who knew him would've known that it was empty. "What's there to say? She's dead."

Jazz closed her eyes with a whimper.

Danny stroked Cass's hair. Blood stuck some strands together and he gently tugged the knots apart with his fingers.

"Danny. What are you going to do?"

Danny stood up, carrying Cass' limp body in his arms. She flopped limply and Danny pressed her cold corpse to his chest in silence.

"If Batman won't do what it takes to keep his family safe, then I'll do it," Danny finally answered. He kissed Cass's forehead and then started flying off at a steady pace.

Jazz immediately followed him, wiping away her tears.

"You can't," Jazz said again. She did not sound angry or afraid or even surprised. She just sounded resigned, with a tad bit of hope in her eyes. "He won't let you kill the Joker for this."

"Who said I'm killing the Joker?" Danny said.

Jazz blinked and then froze in place. "What?" She said, sounding shocked.

Danny smiled coldly. "Who said I'm killing the Joker? I'll rewrite this world so Cass and her family can be happier."

"What?"

Danny turned to his sister and gave her a smile. She stiffened, eyes darting downward to Cass' body before she looked up at him again.

"With Clockwork's help and my powers as Ghost King, I'll recreate this world and timeline so Cass will be happier. So that Batman isn't a spineless coward who hurts his kids and everyone else. So that everyone, besides Cass, can also be happy too. So that someone like the Joker won't be able to kill her again."

Jazz stared at him. Danny stared at her back, adjusting Cass from within his arms.

The weight of her in his arms was both reassuring and frightening.

He was holding the reason why everything would change.

He was holding the world in his hands.

".... I don't think you can do this."

"Who's going to stop me?" Danny asked, a hint of a challenge in his voice. "If I want to remake the laws of this world for the love of my life, then I will."

Jazz closed her eyes. Then she said, "I'll help. Shall we go back to the beginning of Earth's existence?"

Danny beamed. "Yes. Let's do it for Cass."

I am obsessed with the idea that while Dick is the lightest of the older bats, and even with his acrobatic training, Jason is the one who can go flying with the grapple gun. (Physics inaccuracies probably idk dude)

Dick is just sitting out at night during patrol, its a slow night in the area he’s in and he’s heading back home to blud in the morning so he’s more than happy to take it easier than he normally would. He’s perched himself up above a dead lamp post, and he’s carefully watching the roads and alleys below him for any danger.

That’s when a bit further away from him he hears a familiar click of a grapple gun, followed by a by a mass of muscle going flying into the air and my god that’s Jason. Dick is just in awe of how high he gets with it as well. Jason’s jumping over buildings without landing on the roof, and then doing the same to an even taller building. He can’t even tell what Jason’s doing to get so high because right before he starts launching up the side of the building he dips into the dark alley in between them.

Dick is in awe, amazed, but still in a whole lot of shock for what he witnessed. When he tries to tell the Batfam of what he saw the only other person who believes him is Tim, who’d also seen Jason go shooting out from behind a building.

Then Jason does it when the family is near, and god he feels a sense of relief for the dumbest reason. Bruce can’t believe his eyes watching his deep freezer hunk of a son go absolutely fucking flying over a burning building at the end of the night. Steph who was there to get a bit more training with evacuating people out of a fire is attempting to chase Jason down, and is begging him to teach her of the comms.

Jason refuses to talk about his little flying act, and the only time he even considers teaching anyone is when Dick tells him it reminds him of his time at Hallys.

This leads to everyone trying to figure out how to get the flight that Jason does with his grapple gun, and it just isn’t working out. Dick thought he nearly got it before he went cascading for a nice trip through a billboard. Tim and Steph swore they figure it out, but their little hop onto the building only made the task seem more impossible. Damian swears he saw the Batman nearly take flight over a building, and instead ended up crushing an ac unit with his landing.

Jason is loving all of this of course. Watching his siblings and his dad fail horribly at gliding like he does is hilarious to him. It’s just a quick release of the grapple gun, and running up the side of the building for a bit of extra momentum. Of course he pushes himself up against the edge of the roof to really get that height, and if his family just filmed him they’d figure it out easy. Hell, he’s surprise Tim has broken out a camera, or hacked into the cities to watch him.

Cass had figured out how to do Jason’s glide a while ago, she found it helpful to maintaining her unknown presence while looking around on patrol. While she doesn’t like Jason a lot, she respects that this is his thing that he does on patrol, and she has no right going around spilling the trade secrets of the flying ex-robin.

Cassandra Cain Birthday Facts

Since it's Cass' rebirthday (explained below), have some fun Cass bday facts!!!

Her canonical birthday is January 26th, but she actually celebrates her birthday on the anniversary of her becoming Batgirl. @thecruellestmonth has a really cool post about when that anniversary could be here. Two possible dates are May 21st or June 2nd. June 2nd is my personal preferred one!

Cass is an Aquarius in the Western zodiac. The internet says some of Aquarius' traits include being humanitarian, intellectual, curious, eccentric, rebellious, and emotionally detached. Some of these fit Cass better than others but it's fun to read about!

If we take 1999 as her birth year (the year she was introduced), and factor in her January birth, Cass was born in the Year of the Tiger for the Chinese zodiac! Tigers are bold, passionate, confident, and independent, with a keen sense of justice. Very Cass Cain!!

Cass' birthday gem is a garnet. The name comes from the 14th century word for dark red, because the gem resembles the red seed from a pomegranate! Garnets represent protection, friendship, trust, commitment, and love.

The number 1 song in the U.S. during Cass' birth was ...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears. In Batgirl (2000) #15, Cass imagines Joker singing Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again!" so Cass has most likely listened to Britney!

Comic Vine lists her birthday as January 26th, 1989, though I have no clue where that comes from. Sliding timescale probably means this isn't true anyway, but if she was born in 1989 she'd be Year of the Dragon!

The number 1 movie in the U.S. during the week of Jan 26th was She's All That, a teen comedy based on Pygmalion and My Fair Lady.

Today, June 2nd, is National Rotisserie Chicken Day. I think Cass would celebrate by eating a whole rotisserie chicken by herself :).

The first year Hiro was old enough to understand it, he and Tadashi celebrated Mother’s Day for Aunt Cass. She smiled and went along with it while they celebrated. After Hiro went to bed she told Tadashi in private that she’d rather not celebrate the day meant for their mother, out of respect for her. Tadashi understood, and went on to relay the message to Hiro in the morning.

So the next year, Hiro and Tadashi celebrated National Aunt Day on July 26th (real thing, look it up), getting her gifts, spending time with her since school was out for the summer, helping out at the café, and even trying to make her a dinner (it didn’t go too well, so they ordered pizza instead).

She cried.

It’s now become a tradition every year that her and Hiro carry on.

The reality a lot of the fandom forgets or ignores is that Cass was "adopted" before Tim.

I don't think we have an official adoption for Cassandra in canon, but it's not like a piece of paper matters for her. Her heart tells her that Bruce is her dad, she doesn't need the government (she probably didn't even know wtf was a government) to tell her.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that Cassandra became Bruce's daughter the months following their first meeting, because she saw him as such. At the time, Tim still had a father and was attached to him. I would love to be shown moments that demonstrate Tim and Bruce seeing each others as son and father before Jack Drake died, but Bruce was not Tim's father yet.

So, yes, even tho Tim knew Bruce before Cass did, Cass saw and accepted Bruce as her father before him, and Bruce accepted the role fully before he did for Tim.

However, Tim became Dick's brother way before Cass arrived in town, and also faster.
