Kalim in RSA (and I get off-topic)

Spoilers for Book 4 and 5 (im sorry jamil enjoyers. but im so biased towards kalim its not even funny)

(this spiraled into me talking all about kalim in the actual game so oops)

imagine how different the story would be if kalim was in RSA

and we just hear from jamil about these snippets about his 'master' (although itd be weird they'd be separated if jamil tended to him often to where he'd prob be like his personal servant? idk what situation would have jamil talk to us anyway but yknow maybe we get close, he's like the other friend who seems cool? he'll basically help us out with knowledge about things, fleshing out the world a bit more, as the only sophomore in the group cause he kind of feels responsible maybe? then BETRAYAL)

and then eventually partway through the school year KALIM IS THERE (we know why though) and he somehow ends up housewarden.

i have a dislike against RSA. its very petty and its kind of because they keep winning (and they dont even mean ill intent which is worse! …but its kind of like kalims kindness. and i like kalim but that might make me biased. SO. thus the existence of this.)

we probably wouldnt like him much right? (and i imagine he'd get his fair share of bullies. we find this out. he laughs it off like 'nah, im used to attempted assassinations and everything. this isnt nearly as bad.')

(id do the clapping between but ppl get annoyed, and i get annoyed) CUE KALIM BEING MORE THAN SMILES AND WE LEARN THAT ABOUT HIM !!

HES aware enough that he can cook food good using JUST magic (which takes precision to use it as good or even better than your hands right??. its in his labwear vignette. ruggies teaching him ofc so ruggie wants it to be good cause hes taking leftovers, BUT CMOONNN he can learn. ..and yeah it took a few years for jamil to teach kalim antidotes to common poisons so he could do it easy but kalims hardly a master at making potions so i call that good)

AND in book 5 he noticed vil had like the same look as jamil to where he knew something was going to go wrong (aka the poisoning)

maybe its to show how much kalim doesnt belong in NRC and thats why they dont pull the 'more than he looks at first glance' like cater with glimpses in vignettes and etc

but like COME ON.

the sultan might be dumb (i recently re-watched aladdin) but at least he knew enough that he didnt want jafar marrying his daughter cause hes OLD and also he doesnt want to force jasmine into anything (good intentions. im sure if they just waited and she didnt find a suitor in time he would've just CHANGED THE LAW like he did IN THE MOVIE because he wants her to be happy!)

ALSo he tried to look through the law jafar claimed to say that would make her have to be married to the vizier or whatever (aka jafar) but then jafar just pulled it away before he could (and then attempted to mind control him when he refused) mans was prepared to spend hours reading over it even if he didnt understand it but he wasnt given the chance

also kalim is worryingly nonchalant about stuff. i mean. you can get used to horrible things to where they just feel so normal and uninmportant i guess? but poor bby. hes been like 'i want to keep myself alive because if i die then someone else will get punished.' or like about poisoning, if someone has a change of mind and hes already dead, then he cant do something to help them, so he has to make sure he'll live.

..i really doubt that hes just. so oblivious. maybe in denial, but still.

anyway i got very off topic. my bad. and to be fair we do get to see more of him at some parts. but hhh

okay listen. denial. (i am also a believer that if when kalim confronted jamil, if he said he didnt do anything kalim wouldve believed him. bruh gave him excuses like '..i just got tired, right?')

"The real Jamil would never do such things! He's a good guy. He's always helping me, giving me a shoulder to lean on, and—" (Book 4 • Chapter 33)

we just. dont see him really crumble?? he just. keeps being optimistic

we convince him jamil is bad. he resolves to punch him for being a traitor and THATS IT?

he sobs at the end of jamils overblot but then he goes back to being optimistic like 'lets be equals!' (..it feels like he didnt really learn much though as he's still 'I didn't notice--' 'I--' and i wish he couldve gotten more awareness. cause he makes it about himself yknow and blaming himself but COME ON put some blame on jamil PLEASE? or like. ANYONE ELSE. you also cant notice shit if no one ever tells you about it that you dont even know to look for it! he doesnt want to be cautious about who he can trust so like, why would he think to doubt the person who hes known his entire life??? especially if its something that was just always there that it feels natural, how could he know better? hes sheltered! so someone shouldve explained it to him, made him realize things! aghhh)

heres the book 5 one btw

"I got a real bad feeling when I saw the look on your face after Neige's rehearsal. It was practically the same look I saw on Jamil's face when he lost control of himself over holiday break." (Book 5 • Chapter 62)

And I mean maybe he did learn in that he's more aware of this now than others because he knows what people could look like because of Jamil, but I feel like a lot of things were just so unsaid. That the first time blindsided him, but now he's kind of a little more worried about something happening while he's there that he didn't notice so now he's trying to notice things more??? Or like maybe having gut feelings that he'd ignored before because it was Jamil but now knowing better?

So he can be aware. but then the rest of the time he's just thought of as dumb or an idiot or forgetful and it just makes me sad. and i mean i get that he wants to see the best in people but we never really talk about how its more that its denial. a refusal to see it, and i want to understand why

or maybe its because he sees the good in people that he trusts they'll do the right thing. or he believes that the good outweigh the bad (although i dont know if it'd be the same case if it was someone he knew who got hurt)

like. okay back in book 5

"Besides, I would bet there isn't a single person in Scarabia who hasn't gotten help from Jamil at some point. Am I right?"

"See? There you go. He's been a model vice housewarden. In fact, he's put me to shame. He let dark thoughts get the better of him for a brief time. Other than that, he's a perfectly capable guy." (Book 5 • Chapter 10)

He justifies it with that Jamil isn't the only one to blame (he also blames himself), and that Jamil hadn't done anything wrong before then

which. AGAIn. means that in his eyes the good outweigh the bad. jamils better at his duties so jamil should stay as vice housewarden.

this was the first time jamil did anything bad so it'd be fine, it was just an error in judgment

AGHHh

nothing about the fact that his closest friend he views as a brother

"He's grown up with Jamil since a young age, and considers him a brother in all but blood." (from the In-game Album)

who would be the last person he'd expect to do such a thing BETRAYS HIM, planning to make everyone (or well just the people in scarabia) turn against him

like. that has to be a shock right??? AND THEN HE JUST. welcomes him back into his life like it was nothing im just. kALIM. SWEETIE.

and i mean i get its for the best since if anyone knew what actually happened anything could happen to jamil (and jamil has his own reasons i get that but this is about kalim)

but he still hangs around him. has him as his aide. so while something did change, it also feels like nothing changed at the same time.

"I'm always chosen. Always. That's such an obvious truth that I never even consciously processed it. But now I see that was only possible because of Jamil's constant sacrifices. He created that "truth" in my mind by always holding back. By always letting me win. ...It stings. "Galling" doesn't even begin to describe it." (Book 5 • Chapter 30)

also like one of the very few times he expresses how he feels about something (how it hurts not to be chosen for the first time, and/or that he was only chosen because of someone else so he wants to work hard)

and then grim shuts him down with "You wanna talk about galling? Imagine how I feel not even makin' the cut for the audition to start with."

like. COME ON.

Kalim responds with, "Ah, you're right. My bad! I didn't mean to rub it in. Goodness, there I go again! I'm super sorry, honest."

and yeah it can seem kind of spoiled but also. its probably because of that that he doesnt want to share his troubles because he's very privileged so it feels like he might not deserve to act like its anything when everyone else has to work so much harder, right?

AND ITS JUST. REAFFIRMING TO HIM THAT his troubles are nothing compared to anyone elses and im just aghhauihduadhw

he also cares a lot about other people (people like him as housewarden because he listens to their troubles and supports them) so i just. want him to be able to take a moment to care about himself and just admit these things that he usually doesnt get the chance to.

im gonna rant at you for a bit if you dont mind :)

Im a minor that lives in a super tight night, close minded community. Super religious, super homophobic transphobic ect. Seeing as im a teenage girl whose questioning their gender and is definitely attracted to women thats kinda problematic lols. Honestly idek how to explain the situation without a bunch of details, but basically, theres a fifty-fifty chance of me being sent to conversion therapy or just cut off from any internet access (and i mean ANY. i have a flip phone for fucks sake.)if my fam finds out im queer, i have no support system outside of some internet friends who know nothing about my situation, and within the next few years(so like once i turn 20ish, thats in like 4 years but whatever) my family is going to expect me to get married to a man and start popping out babies asap. Btw thats whats expected of me in this community, marriage under the age of 25, have like as many kids as physically possible and god forbid higher education. And im not okay with that . Ffs i want to go to college, major in fine arts, meet a person i like and fall desperately in love or maybe not just have a bunch of close platonic relationships i want cats and a dog and a cute studio in a big city where i can dye my hair whatever color i want aand get an obsene amount of piercings, i want to wear pants!! I just want to live. Without expectations or limits or people who love me hating everything they dont know about me. Is that truly so much to ask for?

And im incredibly dramatic cuz i literally have the dream life. My family loves me, my parents are upper middle class, theyve never hurt me before(besides for all the anti everything rants haha) i literally have a full sized bed, which for some reason i see as the peak of being spoiled idk why. I go to school, not even public, a private religious school that prob costs thousands of dollars, i have friends(who are all part of this community btw and id bet my entire savings that most of them think gay is only a word that ppl use to mean happy lol) close ones even!! I have adorable neices and nephews(my 3 sisters all were married by the age of 20, so i have 11 niecesand nephews while my oldest sister is 31) im living the dream life. But i hate it and i have no way out. No hope of college to get on my feet and find someway out, no people that'll help me fucking run away or some bullshit like that, hell ive considered it and then felt like shit, cuz what am i even running from? Im probably attracted to men it wont kill me to marry one. And i like kids, i wouldnt mind having any either. But.... i dont want to be trapped anymore. Cuz ill be honest thats what i am.if some one asked me to run away with them rn i would, no hesitation.

God im a mess😭😭 anyway this was me ranting in my notes app, im just apologizing for dumping this on a complete stranger(we're moots actually!!) albeit a very kind one :) i dont know what im looking for, but ill take whatever your comfortable giving ig.

Cameron: Someone took our table.. Cameron: I’m at a table near the couches

Ferris: surely we sit on the couches today

Cameron: I don’t know..

Ferris: pleeaaassseeeeee Ferris: ill do work i promise

Cameron: Alright fine, be here soon though or I’ll change my mind

Ferris: sprinting as we speak!!!

Amy isn’t sure how they got so comfortable on the couches, or when the two of them got so comfortable with each other in the first place. In a surprising turn of events Amy is sat sideways on the couch with her back leaning against the arm rest and her legs in Jake’s lap, her laptop was perched precariously on her own lap while Jake used her legs as a phone stand – having abandoned studying for the day.

She had very quickly learned all of Jake’s quirks when it came to studying, even if they weren’t doing work for the same subject he worked better when someone else was around. He needed regular breaks to look on his phone which Amy didn’t usually need, but he also needed prompting to get back to it.

At this point in the afternoon his brain had decided it had had enough and wasn’t going to let Jake focus on anymore work, but when Amy told him she was going to stay in the library and continue studying he said he’d keep her company. They mostly sat in a comfortable silence, ambient noises of the college library providing background to their silence.

Every so often Jake would show her a meme he found funny, but otherwise didn’t bother her too much and Amy was almost disappointed he wasn’t distracting her as much as she’d like. So by the time it got close to 4pm Amy decided to follow Jake’s lead and finish up for the day, giving herself a break couldn’t hurt.

She closed her laptop and set it on the coffee table in front of the couch which currently had all their other books sitting on it. After packing up she sat and observed Jake for what felt like minutes but in reality was no more than 30 seconds, she noticed the way the corners of his lips quirked up when he read something funny and an intrusive thought told her how she would like to kiss him there.

Jake then noticed Amy had put her laptop away and looked up at her with a smile while she tried to hide how embarrassed she felt at being caught staring. He locked his phone but didn’t move to put it away yet, and Amy couldn’t yet bring herself to move her legs off his lap. So for a few moments they sat and looked at each other, and Amy’s heart lurched with longing.

She so desperately wanted to lean over and kiss him, to pull him closer and provide a warmth her jacket simply couldn’t. To hug him again without the feeling of needing to pull away, to laugh at bad movies and his worse jokes without the fear that it’s too much. She just wanted to be rid of the fear of rejection.

“You’re finished?” He asked just before the silence stretched on too long.

“Yeah, decided to take a break for tonight. Am I not allowed to do that?” She joked with a raised eyebrow.

Jake let out a small laugh in response.

“Of course you can, you’re a free woman” He held his hands up in a sign of surrender.

“Thanks, thought I was being interrogated for a moment there” She joked back, causing another laugh out of him – one which Amy joined in on.

“I know it’s not really dinner time but what would you say to a trip to Sal’s?” Jake asked once his giggles died down.

“Can’t say no to Sal’s, just gotta take my stuff back to my dorm first if that’s alright”

Finally, Amy moved her legs off of Jake’s lap and if she had been able to look at him when she did she might’ve noticed the disappointment flash across his face for a brief moment. She started gathering her books and laptop and packing them neatly into her bag.

“Yeah that’s fine, I’ll take my stuff back too” Jake responded while haphazardly shoving his books and notes into his backpack.

They both left the library and made their way back to their dorms, promising to meet back up in 20 minutes. Amy had 20 minutes to get changed and ready for what definitely wasn’t a date with Jake – they were just going to Sal’s, that’s not a date.

If it was a date he would’ve said it was a date, they’ve just continued to hang out after studying together. This is just what friends do, friends don’t ask each other on dates after studying together and then don’t clarify if it’s a date or not.

Amy was spiralling, hoping 20 minutes would come and go quickly so she could talk to Jake again and forget some of her anxieties about… Jake.

Did he just accidentally ask her on a date? How could he be such an idiot? But she didn’t ask if it was a date so it’s not a date, he doesn’t have to dress up super nice or anything because it’s just Sal’s. Why was he checking his outfit for the fifth time?

If it wasn’t a date, then why did he feel nervous? Too many questions and thoughts bouncing around in his head that it was quickly becoming overwhelming. Luckily for him, as he was considering changing his shirt for a third time his phone alarm went off telling him to leave his dorm.

He nearly ran to their meeting spot, not wanting Amy to be waiting on her own for even a few seconds and he ended up being successful. Two minutes after he got to the spot Amy joined him and they walked to Sal’s together.

This time Amy was rugged up in a large jacket and scarf, a handbag hanging off her shoulder instead of her backpack. She had let her hair out of the ponytail she’d had it up in earlier, now letting the loose brown curls fall to her shoulders.

She rambled on about a new topic she learned about in one of her classes that day and Jake decided he could listen to her speak forever, even if she was just reading the phone book. But especially when it was something she was passionate about, Amy let herself get lost in it all and Jake couldn’t help but to follow.

After the short walk they reached Sal’s, and it was only when they opened the door did Jake remember they had other friends he could’ve invited but pointedly didn’t. What his other friends didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them, surely they didn’t mind if he and Amy hung out alone – Rosa and Gina hung out alone often, so did he and Charles. It was fine.

The Night Boys

[4:45pm, Thursday]

Sidewinder: Hey! Did you wanna get dinner?

It was not fine.

Charles had text him as he and Amy were on their way through the diner to a booth at the back. He panicked for a few moments about what to do; be honest and say he was out with Amy or lie to his best friend about being on a not-date with Amy.

Jake knew exactly how Charles would react to hearing he and Amy were out together to dinner alone, and Jake absolutely did not want to be dealing with that today. Amy sat down and began reading through the menu that was already placed on the table, although Jake knew she would get the same thing she always gets.

The Night Boys

[4:47pm, Thursday]

Deathblade: cant tonight Deathblade: not feeling well

Sidewinder: No problem, feel better soon

Deathblade: thnx

Yes, he felt bad about it, but nothing was going to pull him away from spending time alone with Amy. He savoured any minute he could get and once he put his phone away and looked up at her from across the table most of his anxieties melted away.

“What are you gonna get?” She asked him, looking up from the menu in front of her.

“Probably my usual” He shrugged his shoulders, why change his order when his order was perfect. Simple, but perfect.

“Cool, I’m probably gonna get-“

“The basic breakfast special but with a hot chocolate instead of a milkshake”

He finished her sentence without looking up from the menu, only making eye contact when he’d finished speaking. Seeing that Amy had a mildly shocked expression on her face, mouth slightly open and eyebrows raised before she schooled her face to one of less surprise.

“That’s exactly what I’m gonna get..” She trailed off, still giving him a look he couldn’t quite read.

After being given 15 minutes to read over the menu, most of that time spent chatting about nothing in particular, a waiter came over to take their order. They ordered and were now just waiting for the food, making more idle conversation that would usually bore Jake but he was happy to make ‘chit-chat’ with Amy if it meant being around her.

“You know, its too early for dinner, I feel like a senior citizen” Jake joked, arms crossed on the table in front of him.

“It gives you an excuse for a midnight snack” Amy joked back, a small giggle escaping as she did.

“As if I need an excuse for a midnight snack” Jake waved his hand in a dismissive gesture, once again causing Amy to laugh.

As she laughs Jake thinks it’s the one thing he was put on this earth to do; sure he wants to be a detective but his life calling is making Amy Santiago smile.

Their food arrives and they take their time to eat, not worrying about studying or having anywhere to be. They sit and talk until the sun goes down, Jake tells Amy movies he’s been watching recently and Amy tells him all about the book she’s been reading in her spare time. Amy talks about her brothers when Jake asks about them and is filled with funny stories from her childhood, and Jake tells her about what he and Gina were like in high school.

They’ve ordered multiple drinks each and sat long enough for dinner to go down enough to order a dessert; more accurately, Jake ordered a huge dessert that he happily let Amy take bites from. The time has flown and Jake has never felt more content in his life, they’ve barely made physical contact since arriving at the diner but his skin feels as electrified as New Years Eve.

He never wants this feeling to go away.

Amy hadn’t even realised hours had gone by, but it was dark outside now and her and Jake were still in the diner talking. Making up new inside jokes and telling stories from their childhoods. There’s a warmth under Amy’s skin that she’s never felt before, a warmth not caused by a sweater or scarf but one that’s causing tingles from her toes to her fingertips.

She wants it to be like forever.

Unfortunately, it was dark, and she needed to get back to her dorm at some point. She knows her phone has been going off in her bag but has ignored it all evening in favour of talking to Jake, trying to make him laugh and smile to see the ways his eyes crinkle up when he does.

Amy is the one to burst the bubble they’ve put themselves into, worrying she’ll get lost in it and do something that makes Jake uncomfortable. When there’s a silence in the conversation she speaks up.

“I should probably get back to my dorm, it’s getting late” She tries to hide the disappointment in her voice.

“Yeah, me too”

When they go up to the register together to pay Jake covers the bill, he doesn’t give Amy a chance to argue until they’re out the door and walking back to campus.

“You didn’t have to pay” Amy says while wrapping her scarf around her neck snugly.

“I know I didn’t, but you’ve been helping me so much with studying that I owe you”

“You don’t owe me anything, Jake” She can feel her cheeks heating up even in the cold air.

“Just accept it Ames, nothing you can do now” He wraps an arm around her shoulders and squeezes before letting go again and it causes Amy to giggle.

She wants to feel embarrassed at how he makes her giggle, she’s far from being 15 years old giggling at anything her crush says.

“Okay okay, I cover next time though” She points a finger at him in warning.

“Of course” He responded in a tone and with a smirk that made Amy think he wasn’t going to keep his end of the bargain.

The walk is as easy as dinner was, and saying goodbye is difficult but she knows Jake will probably text her in under an hour about something on his mind anyway. She’s excited for it, she’s excited to see him again and a part of her hopes he’s excited to see her again too.

During her elevator ride she decides that she is going to ask him out, it’ll be a risk and she’s full of anxiety thinking of the worst outcomes but she can’t just sit around doing nothing. The doing nothing part of it all is killing her, now she has to know if this was all just in her head.

If he says no then Jake will be cool about it, she knows that, he’s good like that. He cares about other people like that, he won’t completely ignore her and make fun of her for it – well he might a little, but not in a bad way.

Amy is going to ask Jake on a honest-to-god date, with a reservation and high heels and a waiter that doesn’t smell of cigarettes. It’s all going to be fine.

He has decided that if he doesn’t get to kiss Amy soon he’ll explode.

More importantly, he’s decided if he doesn’t tell her how he feels about her soon then he’ll also explode. He’s sure that everyone can tell at this point, it’s hard hiding how much he really likes her. If their other friends have noticed they haven’t said anything – although Charles has been saying it since the day Jake and Amy met which back then was weird. Nowadays it makes Jake annoyed for a different reason, he can’t believe Charles was right.

As Jake moves around his dorm getting ready to relax for the rest of the evening he considers whether or not to ask her out. He thinks back to his conversation with Terry who said he’ll never know if he never asks.

Jake is just unsure he’d be able to handle it if she said no. Not completely sure his heart wouldn’t just fall out his butt onto the ground and he’ll never feel anything ever again. At that thought, he hears Gina’s voice saying he’s being dramatic which is saying something coming from her.

When his head hits the pillow that night he smiles to himself, decision having been made that he will ask her out when he next sees her. He’d even wear a tie for her.

- terezi. flarp buds!!!! mm im gonna say these two met on flarp forums as kids and were the ones to bring team charge and team scourge together (two already existing teams). terezi wanted a nice friendly battle for once and aradia was happy to meet rivals who wouldnt look down on them for being lowbloods maybe? but then uh. vriska. anyway this is why we get the aradia and terezi somewhat close relationship we see hehe. terezi taking responsibility for bringing vriska to the group and such

- vriska. lmaoooo. brought together by flarp and terezi, probably didnt get along v well...... p much right away. i think aradia probably TRIED to be friends w her for a while and vriska wasnt as tough on her as she was to tavros (since aradia can wreck her shit alone lmao) but eventually enough was enough (which we all saw in canon)

- equius. vriska (who was weird enough) introduced her weird neighbor to the group (probably bc of some favor she owed him). aradia doesnt think about him much, equius apparently dreamed of dancing w her under the moonlight

- gamzee. tavros's weird..... slam poetry friend??/tavros's bitchin flarp sister. she doesnt like to interact w him much but shes happy tavros is branching out and making more friends! gamzee miiiight have flashes of getting weirdly territorial about tavros towards her idk

- eridan. vriska (already an asshole) introduced her asshole kismesis to the group (probably trying to pawn his attention off onto someone else). iiiii dont think these two would interact much, and if they did eridan would be an ass to her and aradia would treat him like the loser he is

- feferi. LMFAO. they know each other vaguely through eridan ig??? anyway i think aradia is p much the only one to clock INSTANTLY that feferi's about as classist as eridan in many ways. like aradia fucking HATES her we see it in openbound. it only has a little bit to do w her flirting w aradias bf!!! meanwhile feferi, local classist, barely remembers aradia exists sometimes

- sollux. know each other through aradia obviously, probably get along well enough but give each other a bit of a 'you stay in your lane ill stay in mine' vibe. which i think works for them!

- karkat. met through the aradia and sollux pipeline, karkat latched onto their friendship w the fire of a thousand suns, etc. tavros is a little weirded out by that intensity but i think he also kinda likes the concept! which is why i think he texts karkat when hes paralyzed by vriska...... unfortunately he caught karkat in the middle of his 'oh fuck i gotta tone down my passion and act Cool TM' phase :(

- nepeta. yeah they get along great! met through terezi i think but nepeta really integrated herself in the flarp crew pretty quickly imo. tavros wishes they could play more games together i think but between equius and his paralysis thats difficult :(

- kanaya. iiiii dont think they know each other that well. which is the main way i can justify kanayas reactions to the vriska and tavros things. i think by the time they started talking the full group was pretty well in swing, rather than it being a daisy chain of connections, so no one in particular introduced them. kanaya cares about him tho and tries to help in multiple instances throught the story

- terezi. flarp buds!!! met through aradia ish but they get along p well. i dooo think tavros has a period of being moderately terrified by BOTH scourge sisters but he learns quickly enough that terezi is all bark and no bite. meanwhile terezi considers him a friend and therefore Off Limits for vriska...... supposedly

- vriska. lots going on here. however theyre both part of the original flarp buds group..... i wonder if there was a time when their relationship was a little better? like, vriska was still vriska but i wonder if she wasnt AS actively horrible to him before he started branching out to other friends and realizing he didnt have to put up w her shit. i feel like shed react to an old friend drifting away from her pretty toxically.....

- equius. vriska's neighbor intro, but also potentially in the slam poetry forums lmfao. like tavros and gamzee talked w him a few times online and were both like 'actually this guy's kinda awful lets ghost him' and then a few months later vriska introduces her neighbor to the flarp group and tavros is like ITS HIM. tavros is in the worried about nepeta bc of equius crew

- gamzee. slam poetry buds!! i think tavros is not AS into gamzee as gamzee is into him but i do think they get along :3 well enough that tavros introduced him to the group. i think tavros was probably relieved when gamzee started hanging out w karkat more though.... 100% of gamzee's attention is a Lot

- eridan. they dont get along lmaooo. tavros has him in the same category as equius as 'vriskas asshole highblood friends' and tries to avoid him. eridan probably tried to hit on him a couple times before getting pissy bc tavros was NOT interested and going 'i never liked him anyway'

- feferi. also one of vriskas asshole highblood friends but like. the nice one? i think theyve probably not talked much but tavros has come away from it w the impression that shes pretty nice, if a little eccentric. feferi thinks hes sweet but finds his quirk annoying i think lmaooo

- karkat. passion and suns etc etc etc. they met through coding forums and i think karkat just kept annoying sollux about his code questions bc sollux was nice to him one (1) time. however sollux does genuinely like him :) they were each others first friend in the group, and sollux is the one to introduce karkat to everyone else. good buds! even tho they complain about each other

- nepeta. okay so i think sollux is a little less than interested in roleplaying games and mostly puts up w it for aradias sake. and unfortunately this opinion does not extend to nepeta, the mascot of larping. meanwhile nepeta thinks hes no fun akshdhsh. theyre nice to each other when they talk dont get me wrong they just. would not seek each other out for anything lmaooo

- kanaya. sollux i think was also kanaya's first friend in the group, but this happens AFTER most of the larger group has already started talking; i think kanaya joined the group pretty late (attributing this to her kinda naïve way of thinking about vriska). i think she saw his trollian in a dream and messaged him out of the blue to talk about the ruins and skaia and stuff alshdhdhh. i think he pretty quickly shuffled her over to aradia like 'here, crazy meet crazy' but they DO continue to get along. hes also her it guy and hes less mad about it w her than most other ppl imo

- terezi. THEYRE FRIENDS. between the two of them theyre popular within the entire group, which is probably why theyre the ones who get sgrub started. i think sollux was a little 'flarper? how cringe' towards terezi for like five seconds but then she started talking about gaming (shes a gamer! she likes games other than (f)larping!) and he was like 'oh shit shes really cool actually.' they get along really well

- vriska. hmm i think he already didnt like her very much (found her pretty annoying) and then later all he knows is that aradia is Different Now and all anyone will tell him is that its vriskas fault. so hes got a pretty fuckin low opinion of her. kinda pissed we never saw a vriska and sollux fight tbh. anyway i think vriska (insane person) resents the attention sollux gets from aradia sometimes and also doesnt like him v much. she wants ALLLLLLLL the attention!!!!!!!!

- equius. honestly i dont think theyd have any interest in each other. like i just dont think theyve talked much. i do however think that sollux has had to scrape viruses out of equius's computer on more than one occasion and that has not left him w a high opinion of equius......

- gamzee. iiiiii think theyre mainly chill w each other? they mainly talk about karkat probably, once the karkat/gamzee codependent friendship has started to develop, taking some of the weight off of the karkat/sollux and gamzee/tavros codependencies. sollux might think gamzee's a little weird but he's happy that he makes karkat happy :)

- eridan. lmfaooooo boys ur spades crushes are showing. they have NEVER gotten along (tho that was probs heavily intensified when sollux and feferi started having their thing). sollux thinks he's a huge jerk and eridan thinks he's a lower life form. but both in a kinda hot way akdhhdhdhdh. messy messy

- everyone. necessary for him bc its just a default that karkat has latched on to all of his friends w the passion of a thousand burning suns. thats just who he is here's the catch all

- nepeta. we know she has her crush on him; i think they were probably introduced to the larger group around the same time and he was probably really nice to her akdhhdhd. i think shes also emotionally intelligent enough to recognize his less nice behavior for what it is: fronting to blend in w the cooler kids (vriska, sollux, terezi). on the other half, he really doesnt mind talking to her bc shes one of the few trolls that doesnt scare him much :3 tho HE is emotionally intelligent enough to recognize her crush on him and that makes him a lil uncomfortable :/ in another world theyd be REALLY good friends

- kanaya. youre my mom! boogie woogie woogie woogie. sollux introduces them and kanaya is struck by a crippling need to fuss over him like a child akdhdhdh. karkat likes her bc he finds her more reasonable than 90% of their other friends. theyve got a really close relationship that is DIFFICULT to define in troll terms, and they also talk romance novels together ❤️ even if theyre not huge fans of each others tastes hahaha. also: queer kids solidarity

- terezi. teehee they liiiiike each otherrrrr. uhh i think karkat has been into her for longer, like pre revenge cycle, and then after everything that happened w that she was REALLY SICK of ppl like vriska and latched onto him as like. the nicest sweetest guy she knows who is also conveniently really into her. not to say her feelings for him arent real; they very much are! she's genuinely really attracted to the adorable guy he is. buuuut he's a bit of a rebound for her rip

KARKAT WANTS TO BE HER SOOOO BAD LMAOOO. he never will be theyre v different ppl but she's got ALL of terezi's attention and she's also a very traditionally impressive troll so he tries to imitate her a lot. doesnt work v well tho bc hes like. not a jerk, and he has some lines he wont cross. vriska i think didnt really think about him much until terezi started paying attention to him? and then she was a little resentful of him but never really saw him as a threat. secretly i think she respects his ppl skills :3

- equius. man karkat is the LEADER of the 'hey we should be worried about nepeta being w this guy' club and equius has similar opinions towards him tbh so they dont really get along? and yet karkat would still die for him bc he's like that. and canonically, equius would die for him too! they dont like each other really tho

- gamzee. theyre besties o-(-( tavros probably introduced them and like..... i think gamzee really latched onto karkats whole unconditional love and friendship vibe and does his best to reciprocate :,) theyre both really intense friends so the other trolls are a little glad that theyve latched onto each other like they did. theyre good for each other!!

- eridan. i think when they FIRST became friends they were talking to EACH OTHER about romance problems and things a lot, not quite so one sided as we see in sgrub. karkat was probably nicer to eridan than anyone else was, except maybe feferi, so he latched onto him a bit. karkat unfortunately then realized everyone else hated eridan so he started pushing away from him more to seem cooler

- feferi. they are studying each other like little bugs 👁️👁️ feferi doesnt understand the way he interacts w ppl at ALL but finds it fascinating nonetheless. karkats really confused by her bc she doesnt act the way hed expect a fuschia blood to but hes intrigued by her nonetheless! they dont talk directly TO each other much but theyre always keeping half an eye on the other. figuring shit out :3

- kanaya. iiiii think they get along fine? but like kanaya gives off the vibe of someone who is Important and has Important Things To Do and nepeta buys into that more than most. i think kanaya joined the group kinda late so maybe she didnt get the chance to get to know nepeta v well...... sad :(

THEYRE BUDDIES!!! terezi introduced nepeta to the larger group after larping online w her :3 nepeta's a little annoyed by how violent terezi's larping is but like in a 'shes trying too hard' kinda way akahhshdhdh. they still get along really well and i think terezi really appreciates her as a less murderhappy friend of hers :)

- vriska. they are NOT buddies akshsjshdh. between equius warning her off and vriska's general bad vibes iiii dont think nepeta ever liked her v much...... theyve probably larped together a few times but nepeta's Not A Fan of how vriska larps :( vriska is just looking for attention in any form, so she doesnt mind tormenting nepeta every now and then, buuuuut i think shes actually a little afraid of equius and knows how much he genuinely cares about her so nepeta gets a free pass from a lot of her worse bullshit, at least

MEOWRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! despite what the protect nepeta club thinks, these two are the BEST moirails for LIFE!!!! they met in a larger group chat interaction probably and nepeta being the sweetie she is privately messaged him when she realized he was kinda getting left out of the convo. they got to talking together and really hit it off!!! now they are insepurrable :3 nepeta has her doubts about his behoofior from time to time but she can tell he really really likes her and has a bit of an 'i can fix him' mentality about it. she finds him really cute tho :3c

- gamzee. i think nepeta probably doesnt talk to him (or the rest of the highbloods tbh) much bc of equius's warnings? beyond that tho i think she finds him a bit off putting. shes friendly to him for karkat and tavros's sakes tho! gamzee i think doesnt think about her much but knows shes close-ish to his two main dudes...... which ends up being dangerous for her :(

- eridan. he has definitely hit on her, she was not into it, they both have pretty low opinions of the other. eridan has probably tried to instill comraderie w her as the 'social outcasts' of the group not realizing nepeta is actually very popular lmfao. she agrees w equius that eridan is a loser that shouldnt be entertained

- feferi. iiiiii think they get along okay? nepeta knows two out of three highbloods that equius warned her away from are freaks so maybe shes apprehensive about meeting feferi but i think their personalities would do well together! theyve quite possibly larped together and feferi has probably done her deadpan """pissed""" schtick at nepeta for roleplaying a MEOWBEAST when she's playing FISH??? cod, girl, how could you???? before laughing it off bc she was just joking ajshsjhdhdhdh. i think they both find each other a little weird but overall positive feelings toward the other.

- terezi. iiiiii cant imagine theyve talked much, considering how kanaya was acting towards vriska. this is a 'kanaya joined the group late' moment; like, i think theyre friendly w each other, but kanaya doesnt know the FULL extent of the vriska drama and terezi doesnt exactly wanna tell her about it and come off as the girl complaining about her ex to her ex's new girl so. theres an awkward energy there. i think they become better friends later on :,)

- vriska. kanaya's useless lesbian moment ❤️ and vriska's rebound from terezi tbqh. i think vriska doesnt really take her seriously until murderstuck lol, by which time kanaya is well over vriska...... from the earlier days tho, kanaya's romanticizing rainbow drinker novels and therefore into girls who are mean to her. real 'i could fix her' moment tbh

- equius. kanaya's not a lowblood or a highblood so she's not really interesting to equius, and equius is a gross gross man so he's not really interesting to kanaya. if theyve talked, he's been a dick to her and she's been unimpressed. not much of a relationship there tbh

- gamzee. i think kanaya's a little intrigued by him tbh? she finds him as a highblood who's not a TOTAL asshole, just a weirdo, to be really refreshing, and she likes that he's there for karkat. gamzee i think doesn't get her relationship w karkat at all but doesnt concern himself much w her. he's nice when she talks to him tho

- eridan. she spent some time trying to get to know him at first bc of vriska's interest in him but quickly realized that vriska wasnt actually that interested in him and also that he's a loser. however by this point she has accidentally established herself as 'person who will talk to him' so she's kinda stuck w him sometimes :/ i think she doesnt think he's TRULY awful but she doesnt wanna waste her time on him. eridan is convinced that one day he'll prove how great he is to her and she'll help him get back in w vriska

- feferi. they get along!! girls who have to deal w eridan often stick together ❤️ they also fundamentally dont understand each other as a lesbian and a straight girl respectively but its okayy theyre still vibing

- eridan. vriska sought him out to be her kismesis bc of mindfang, which made him SUPER happy, but realized fairly quickly that he's super lame by her standards lmfao. eridan ofc got v attached but he does also find her intimidating so he's more likely to bother OTHER ppl to try and get back into her good graces than bother her himself

- feferi. vriska doesn't know her well enough to realize she's a bad bitch! feferi has a pretty low opinion of her and is quietly v mean to her in her quiet little way lmfao. vriska i think probably feels like they have a good relationship lol (both sick of eridan gang?) but feferi actually is not happy that vriska's the one who made eridan even MORE annoying akshjsdhdbb

- gamzee. god equius is so weird about him..... he's like very intimidated by him but simultaneously upset that he doesnt act the way equius thinks he should. gamzee thinks hes a little strange and maybe doesnt like him much? but is chill enough to humor him anyway. they DO have slam poetry in common which he is hopeful could lead them to a better friendship. not thrilled by how equius treats tavros tho........

- eridan. equius doesnt like him at all, eridan is scared of him a bit mdhsjsjdh. not a good relationship, they mutually avoid each other and only really intetact if equius is pissed at him over eridan being creepy to nepeta or smth

- feferi. i legitimately think equius would NEVER talk to her akshdhdhhd. like he will go SILENT if shes around he's terrified of her and will not speak to her. so bc of that they dont have much of a relationship..... not that feferi's too upset by that, judging by the things she's heard about him

- eridan. tbh eridan does best w ppl when they feel obligated by social cues to be nice to him and gamzee doesnt really bother w any of that so eridan finds him difficult to deal w. which means he's just straight up mean to gamzee :( gamzee's not really HAPPY about that but he's not too bothered if it's just him getting the brunt of it.....

- feferi. god i have this specific interaction in my head where gamzee asks her, as the ocean lady, if she knows what happened to goatdad and she tells him she doesnt know but any lone lusii in her area get fed to her lusus :C and its just a bad time all around. i dont think they talk much

- feferi. she feels obligated to spend time w him both due to their respective positions and his help w feeding her lusus, he genuinely really likes her and wants all of her attention. hes just..... also an asshole. really says a lot that she ditches him as soon as she's sure the game's starting soon and she wont need him anymore, both towards her acting skills and her general opinion of him

- the (f)larpers are integral to this friend group and the non (f)larpers cannot ignore the fact that their friend group was built around role playing (and slam poetry!)

hello! so ill start with that very daemon idea that has him as the canter. so idk? get ready? love letter under the ***

deamon x reader who's his wife (prob newlywed). there is some kind of a fight (tourney? war?) and she has to be by his side. during the action deamon gets distracted and stops keeping an eye on the reader bc he's too busy and also knows she's excellent with her sword. however, she gets injured, badly but not deadly.

and when every relative blames him for not protecting her, when each lady whispers to her friend or her husband that it was him who practically killed the princess, that's when he realise she's not a swordswoman anymore. they were childhood friends and they used to run the forest together, play smth stupid and do the shit children do. they used to have lots of sword-fighting, she was just as good as he if not better, but they're not children anymore.

that's when it strikes him. she's a woman, she's his wife, she's supposed to give him his heirs (prob on the wedding night he was too drunk to either be turned on or to remember), she has no right to even think about a sword not that she can so much as hold it. so now he has to live with this realisation when ever since their very wedding his mind hasn't digested a thought of his childhood friend (mb also his minor ex-crush) being his wife, and he has to comfort/take care of/accept his wife.

(in my head it's something long or having more than 1 part but it's absolutely understandable if you see it another way/do not see at all. hope u liked it a little and really hope to see it written by your talented hands someday. absolutely not obligatory. dont ever feel pressed. its ok if you can't/need much time/anything else. your comfort is the priority)

danny phantom episode 4-7 Thoughts: (under a readmore because, these got kinda long!)

-the outfit danny had to buy for dash's party. CLASSIC 2000S i cannot stop laughing. And also showing up to the party and everyone is dressed like the trio is hilarious. and further proof that everyone looks good dressed goth.

-dash has a closet full of cute lil bear plushies?? LOVE that. adorable. also his response to danny trashing his room fighting a ghost was SO valid if somone BROKE MY BED IN HALF ID BE PISSED TOO.

-technus being like 'oh smart, u should be a tutor!' then later being like 'forget tutor, be a teacher!' :) supportive king <3 I also really like his upgraded suit/design. AND SPOCK CAMEO??? HELLO??

-the music in this show is super. its so funky. I looked it up and the guy who does it, guy moon (awesome name) also did music for other cartoons like fairly odd parents, barnyard, chalkzone, billy & mandy, AND some actual movies like FIGHT CLUB??? the whiplash I got from reading that)

-sam being rich explains a lot about her, actually.

-I know the moral of the episode was supposed to be 'dont ditch your friends for popular people/spend a lot of money on clothes that arent You to Fit In'. but tbh. it wouldve been easy for danny to have been like 'well, okay, ill come but only if my friends can!' but I get. that hes 14. so. not a lot to say there.

YEAH! if dash and his friends just threw food at him, I think rather than. idk doing sneaky shit with frogs he couldve just threw it back and not pulled punches if they tried to fight. (I didnt go to hs so I might be wrong, if I am ignore this...) freshmen are usually 14-15, could just be a case of them not turning 15 yet but they will sometime in the school year (I say they because tucker said he was 14 too)? I know the show has 3 seasons, so by the end of it will they be older? thatd be neat but usually cartoon characters stay the same age...I love shows where you can see the characters age and grow up, though...three seasons seems like a long time to spend on like, 1 year...

hi yall its been two full weeks since the last ep which means carson's been in jail for two weeks so on with the rewatch 🥳

-"it's all my fault" love how shes still making other peoples traumas about her

-something about nancy not eating d/t stress + george's mom making food for her after being possessed (bc moms cook and nancy doesnt have one? idk)(carson makes meals but they always get interrupted thats a future ep bullet point lmaooo)

-that is a HUGE fucking cake lmfaooooo

-"she talks to my mom" think i mentioned this previously but something about george --> george's mom + bess & nancy /like victoria has this relationship with these girls who dont have moms, which is ironic bc victoria can barely be a mom to her own kids (& wondering if george is taking her mom for granted or jealous that she helps these other momless girls but not her own girls)

-"i'm the worst" again with the melodrama like can u stop 🙄

-love how intuitive owen is w/ bringing nancy food here like he just knows shes been neglecting it and wants to see her eat in front of him so he knows shes eaten lately

its ramble time. also yeah this is gonna be p long (hence the word - rambles) and prob talking a lot about patton and janus because i havent talked about them much and i have IDEAS

(also i know i want remy to be involved somehow but i havent figured out how yet. suggestions welcome ghjghjgs)

so thomas and logan are elves, roman remus and virgil are magic users (witches warlocks wizards whatever the word is lmao), remus specializes in wind magic, roman in fire, and virgil in weather.

the magic virgil uses is often called chaos magic and in order for something to be generally classified as chaos magic, it needs to be unusual/rare, chaotic (duh) or unpredictable, and destructive. (these classifications might change as i think on them more). wind magic is largely argued upon whether it is chaos magic or not, seeing as how it is largely unpredictable and can be seen as destructive, but it doesnt fit the bill with the first one, leading to the arguments. same with fire magic, but they said it was too common for it to be chaos magic. virgil having weather magic means that he can create storms, sandstorms, generate lightning, windstorms, and also able to control (or rather ‘bend’) rain. of course, there are drawbacks and limitations, adding to the fact that virgil has a very hard time controlling his magic and harnessing it, he is not op dw. magic is also very much tied to emotions btw

also ro re and vee have two moms and they are a lesbian couple sorry i dont make the rules

elven lore and shit time - while gold is rare in many places in the fantasy land (i still have yet to decide on a name), in the elven land (i have not decided names for each section either lmao) iron and steel are actually harder to find than gold. gold still holds its own worth, but iron and steel are generally regarded as superior in worth than gold, which is why many nobles possess the material. and ive already explained the left eye crest thing with the elves, their left eye has a shape or crest to it along with a color that glows slightly. the glow can be dimmer or brighter depending on their emotions at the time. logan has a diamond shape to his left eye and a leaf green glow to it, which also happens to be his eye color as well. thomas’ is a heart and rainbow color and glow, while his actual eye color is an almond brown. ill discuss appearances in another post btw. anyways, the elven lifestyle is the most similar to humans, having a battleschool, its system nd shit, etc. although it does differ in terms of ‘rulers’. the humans have a monarchy while the elves rule through a council of 9. (an odd number so there arent any ties) logan uses both a sword and a bow as his weapons of choice. thomas was forced to go to battleschool so he basically just dips as soon as he can after teaching logan what he knows and becomes a healer because HEALER THOMAS

PATTON AND JANUS TIME PATTON AND JANUS TIME PATTON AND JA

patton is one of the merfolk, who (in this au) are a species that have two forms. their mer form, where the lower half of them is the mer tail fish tail what the fuck is it called. anyways the color of pattons tail (wtf is it dude) is a desaturated light blue. he has these like ??? spikes?? is that the word? jutting out from his forearms. (at the very least pointy things) and he will not hesitate to use them as weapons. yeah he’s a feral boy. he has some spots of scales on his upper body but they are pretty scarce. in his human form, he just looks like a human i dunno what you expected lmao. in the water his eyes are a really potent blue while on land they are much duller. he can also breathe underwater regardless of the form. patton also cant really will himself to either form, if he wants to be human form he has to be on land and vice versa for the mer form.

janus is a fucking uh,, dude idk the word for it. i guess the general word for it would be dragon but he’s more humanoid than dragon. a cross between the two ig. anyways he has scales on one side of his face, scaly wings because fuck yeah, horns jutting out from his forehead, and more shit that i have forgotten but i know he has it. the scales are a golden color, with warm yellows and light oranges mixed in. left eye has a dragon pupil type thing, like a slitted pupil. fuck i hate describing things ghdgakhgask. im playing around with the idea that dragons can shapeshift but nothing is set in stone with that tbh. most dragon folk are like janus, a mix between dragon and human, and only the really powerful ones are the ones that can actually turn into dragons so thats pretty rare. but fuck descriptions its time for fucking FRIENDSHIP and FAMILY

janus has a little brother whose name is emile and they are 6 and actually pretty shy. it took them a while to warm up to patton but now he literally loves pat and everytime he sees them he bolts over and just gives him a huge hug. patton tries to act all tough but he is so soft for emile there is no denying it and they all know it. jan and emile have an agender parent and a genderfluid parent. agender parent uses xe/xem btw.

patton has a mother and never knew his father. he and his mother have a rather,,, distant relationship i suppose. his mother is in the royal guard so she is called away often (though it does not excuse the neglect in the slightest) her and pat just mutually acknowledge that they both exist and go about their day. one day pat confessed to jan that he never really felt that they were his mom, more just a person who birthed him. one time in a particular bout of drowsiness, patton confessed that janus and his family were the ones that he truly considered family. janus got choked up and was like ‘shut up you bastard im supposed to be tough /pos’

the first time janus showed him how he could get rid of the dragon aspects of himself for a limited time, patton literally took one look at his human form and shouted ‘what the FUCK’ and janus was like ‘IVE SEEN YOU CHANGE FORM BEFORE WHATS YOUR DEAL’ and patton just screams ‘THIS IS FUCKIN WEIRD’ (all /lh) janus and patton get up to so many shenanigans its a wonder they havent gotten caught yet lmao

patton, once again in sleep deprivation cause thats the only fuckin time he’ll confess anything about his emotions, told janus that he was his first friend and that he was so scared to mess it up when they first became friends. he’d spent most of his life alone and always in this state of just,,, perpetual anger, bubbling right underneath the surface with no way to escape. it led to him getting in a lot of fights and just lashing out, especially at people who tried to become his friend, scaring them away. when janus came along and stayed, he said it was the best thing that ever happened to him. he finally had a friend. even when he lashed out and retreated back into himself, putting up those walls again, janus still stayed. he helped break those walls down bit by bit, helped patton with his anger issues, helped patton realize that janus was here to stay, and that he wasnt leaving.

✧ doesn’t hesitate to compliment you! will ask if you did anything different (you: “not really” ) and then always says “you always look great, anyway, no need to change anything!”

✧ speaking of gum he’ll always have gum or mint on him in general but espeeeeecially if he knows he’ll be around you bc boyo want his breath smelling fiinneee

✧ eventually gets you to be quite comfortable around him (yes!), so you have nice conversations every once in a while

✧ he’s also v considerate and likes gift giving! bought you milk bread from his fav place because he talked about it the other day, and you mentioned you were curious to try it

- RHYSAND MY LOVE I TAKE BACK ALL THE BAD THINGS I SAID IN BOOK ONE AND YOU ARE A BABY THAT NEEDS TO BE LOVED AND PROTECTED AND DESERVE PEACE AND QUIET AND MORE LOVE

- tamlin needs therapy like pronto; we dont stan a unsupportive partner and partner who is unwilling to share pain!! CANCEL TAMLIN 2020

- rhys popping up during the wedding scene was *chef’s kiss* and i noticed that he didn’t “claim” her as he said he would for like three months after everything. i suspect he was being a good person and literally letting her live her life. also for loving someone, tamlin was super chill and just kind of let her go??? idk i thought there would be more of a fight??? when feyre was literally like why are your claws retracting man?? fight for me??? hello??? but then again rhys is definitely more powerful than tamlin and probs some unspoken laws and such between high lords i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ anyways tamlin aint shit

- page 296-298! fucken shook me to my core. that self awareness, that confrontation, she identified the core of everything and it was such a turning point and im just so proud of her!!! She's recognizing her traumas and is healing!!!!!!!!!!

- yeah i immediately ship cassian and nesta; i hope she fucks shit up in the next book 😀 😀 😀 😀

- maybe az and mor are truly the slowest of slow burns ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- i pictured pollution from good omens as how Amren is suppose to look like

- rhys is such a strong leader and im just -- baby deserves all the love. He's really good at plotting. He really made feyre learn all these things so they can nurture their love but also be a strategic advantage its interesting that even tho theres love there he still treats her like a weapon

- the joy in his rhys eyes when they winnowed into his regular ass town house that feels super lived in. and his friends banging on the door like he isn’t the feared night court high lord that he is. that was so refreshing to see that hes a regular person and not that high lord man who lives in a near empty mansion. he puts on a mask for everyone but he himself is just a regular fae.

- reading about the peace that velaris was able to live through was beautiful. i imagined a city like san francisco with the hills and views of the ocean but kind of like the peace found in super small towns or cities in asia; maybe even some european cities (which is prob where this location is inspired by but i haven’t visited many euro cities). the scenes of ppl dining out, making art and music and just chilling is so lovely esp given our current pandemic. art is so treasured there and im like thats the epitome of a great society isn’t it? being able to do things because you just can without the pain of financial insecurity, civil unrest, etc. i definitely would love and die and for a society like that. its just so wonderful. i was filled w happiness while reading those scenes. :)

- rhys and his inner circle taking feyre out into the town and just being casual. nobody treats them like theyre royalty or anything special. theyre just a regular group of friends who enjoy hanging out. its super nice and nostalgia inducing esp during this pandemic when friends are so far away and not like it used to be.

- when rhys immediately saw how under weight and dead freye looked when she was in spring court -- AND IT WAS THE FIRST THING HE SAID TO HER WHEN HE SAW HER THROUGH THE DOOR WHILE TAMLIN DIDNT FUCKEN NOTICE

- i also take back my frustrations in book 1 when freye always wondering around the grounds in spring court esp during calanmai. i thought it was because the author needed to move the story forward but its just freye. she doesnt sit still and now that shes w rhys, we are seeing soooooo many things about prythian and thats beautiful. tamlin was truly a hinderance huh

- rhys sent her music when she was in the cell in Under The Mountain which was found in velaris. maybe he wasnt risking a lot but he just showed her a glimpse of the forbidden world right under aramantha’s nose holy shit he saved her from destruction!

- when rhys had his nightmare and feyre came to comfort him and kissed him on the cheeks and gave him such tenderness made my heart sing~

- rhys is literally opposite of tamlin is soooo many ways. RHYS DID THINGS OUT OF LOVE, WHILE TAMLIN DID THINGS FOR LOVE. everything from how rhys made sure feyre can grow into who she is meant to be, to how he introduces her to his friends and how he interacts w everyone in his court, how he handles pain, everything is so different than tamlin. tamlin feels pain and just bulldoze over things, doesn’t think about how his actions are hurting others even as he is hurting. he doesn’t talk, he doesn’t share, he doesn’t try to get himself or feyre out of this misery and just sees threats everywhere and hits them. he was also supper passive honestly. no doubt hes riddled w guilt and grief but can’t figure out how to handle it so he uses feyre as his crutch where if he can “save” her he will be free smh

- rhys PAYS feyre!! HE GAVE HER FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE AND RESPECT FOR HER WORK!! THE INDEPENDENCE THAT TAMLIN DIDNT FUCKEN GIVE.

- THOSE NOTES THEY SEND TO EACH OTHER SINCE FREYE CAN READ AND WRITE NOW

- Ianthe was sus from the beginning!! i knew it!! although i did bet she was gonna sleep w tamlin on the side. But she's a lot worst so we don't like her either

- the throne room scene was steamy af this time its fine because there was ~consent~ and also because we see the dynamic and growth between the two and how they work together. this was great although I was kind of like pls get a room tho

- RHYS SMILING!!! FEYRE AND RHYS LAUGHING TOGETHER UGH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

- THEY ARE MATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FEYRE AND RHYS FOUND EACH OTHER AND HAD SO MANY SHARED TRAUMAS AND WORKED IT OUT TOGETHER AND GREW TOGETHER AND LEARNED ABOUT EACH OTHERS QUIRKS AND ITS JUST LOVE IN ITS PUREST FORM UGH THAT SCENE WHERE RHYS WAS CRYING AND FEYRE HEATED UP FOOD FOR THE BABY AHH MY HEARTTTTT MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEARTTTTTT IS BURSTING WITH LOVEEEEEE

- LUCIEN AND ELAINE HOLY FUCK WHAT A LEFT FIELDER i hope this is the push that will propel lucien to defy tamlin. going back to the contrast between how tamlin vs his court and rhys vs his court, rhys has a group of unwavering loyal friends and are treated equally esp letting them joke around so much and it feels like a casual group of friends hanging out. tamlin has just as much loyalty from lucien but theres still a power structure that tamlin maintains. luciens words doesn’t have much weight whereas rhys’s friends do. both tamlin and rhys have so much power and sway and similarity in traumas and tragedy but both execute things completely differently. tamlin only wants to upload what he is familiar with, maybe what he thinks his father wants whereas rhys actively tries to think of something better, to change the system regardless of how hard it is.

- tamlin you dumbass. He didn't learn from amarantha. He again let his pride fuck over a bunch of other ppl. He shat on amarantha and fucked over his court. Now he fucked the rest of prythian and human world by bargaining w the king. Smh goodbye tamlin

- I straight up knew the queens were bad!!! I knew they had to be plotting something. The sixth is "ill" my ass.

- LADY OF THE NIGHT COURT LETS GO FEYRE AND WOOWW WE STAN A MAN BREAKING TRADITIONS AND SUPPORTING EQUALITY

- when hybern was destroying velaris. I WAS GONNA THROW HANDS BRO. I'm glad we saw the extend of how powerful feyre could be and how she was clever and we can really see how she's completely different from before. She has bite and fight in her and it's so refreshing!

- how about we let az and cassian live in peace. Those boys had to deal w the blunt of literally everything. from being the only shield in valeris to poison/hurt wings against the king, just beat up all the time 🥺

- suriel is their version of a wikipedia

I read all 600 damn pages in like 2.5 days and I was loving it the entire time! My heart sored when feyre and Rhys were getting close and starting to break down their walls and really connect. This was a truly good enemies to lovers, slow burn tale and the drama is so great. There were good stakes that changes a character and their behavior and a good balance of action and excitement but at the same time so many little moments that let u see the character and how they interact w each other and the world. a lot of big plot moments, slice of life moments, a bit of romance and comedy. overall, an amazing book but super long. thus far this is my favorite book and im hoping the rest of the books can be just as charming and lovely but not too heart breaking. i hope rhys and feyre makes it. i cannot predict what to expect in the other books in the series (isn’t there gonna be 8 books total???)
