Not to preach to the choir but I wonder if people generally realize that AI models like ChatGPT aren't, like, sifting through documented information when you ask it particular questions. If you ask it a question, it's not sifting through relevant documentation to find your answer, it is using an intensely inefficient method of guesswork that has just gone through so many repeated cycles that it usually, sometimes, can say the right thing when prompted. It is effectively a program that simulates monkeys on a typewriter at a mass scale until it finds sets of words that the user says "yes, that's right" to enough times. I feel like if it was explained in this less flattering way to investors it wouldn't be nearly as funded as it is lmao. It is objectively an extremely impressive technology given what it has managed to accomplish with such a roundabout and brain-dead method of getting there, but it's also a roundabout, brain-dead method of getting there. It is inefficient, pure and simple.

honestly I absolutely love the Avvar in Jaws of Hakkon. How they worship the gods, how they view the world around them, how accepting they are and just how interesting they are too. I absolutely despise how the Inquisitor and Companions make commentary as if they're stupid or wrong in their beliefs, or that they're "just crazy people who worship spirits".

The dialogue you don't choose or even the ones you do are on the line of condescending, and it's frankly insulting, especially that all options on the dialogue wheel fall on that line.

the Avvar are so fucking cool, I hate we only get a DLC with them. (I also miss the Chasind - I wish they weren't forgotten or left in the dirt by BioWare :( )

i think i recall some info you've posted about suicide hotlines, sorry if i've mixed you up with someone else. with the lgbt youth silo being disbanded under 988 next month, do you think it'll have an impact on people? part of me wants to believe if 988 sucks then who cares. but if lgbt youth have been helped by this subservice then it's another kick in the teeth.

Yeah probably was me you were thinking of, I've posted quite a bit about the problems with 988 in terms of all the ways they collaborate with cops, do "nonconsensual active rescue" and involuntarily hospitalize people.

And honestly this is one of the reasons I said from the beginning that I didn't think hotlines such as the Trevor Project and other independent hotlines should have became part of the 988 network. Mostly because I think that 988 is a deeply unethical hotline and I don't think that other hotlines should have agreed to uphold the mandatory nonconsensual rescue policies that are required to become part of the 988 network, but also because then their operation becomes even more closely tied to federal funding and federal policy changes, and it opened the door to something like this happening.

I certainly don't think it's good that the fed government specifically cut this service and are signaling that they don't care about supporting suicide prevention for LGBTQ and specifically trans youth, but I also don't think the solution to that is pouring more money into unethical hotlines or lobbying into getting this service back into 988. I think the solution is supporting independent hotlines like the trans lifeline or thrive lifeline that don't collaborate with cops, trying to direct more funding to them so that they can support an increased influx of calls, and sharing those hotline numbers so that more LGBTQ youth are aware there are other LGBTQ hotline services out there. I also think there should be more of an organized effort to get other hotlines to quit working with the cops, quit working with 988, and implement the crisis callers bill of rights.

guy who is being so normal about the new additions to their profiles. i think abt midoris initial infatuation with his art slowly developing into appreciating yuzuru himself as a person and idol to the point he worries about how he sees him (ex: a bit of home party and in workplace survival rules) sometimes thats a lie i think about it a lot. and yuzuru learning to enjoy art just for the sake of drawing!! seeing the lets try diy story where he doesnt even refute drawing on midoris desk and was only worried that his doodles might cover up the mascot design compared to how discouraged he usually would be in earlier ! stories. everything to me i adore their dynamic if that wasnt obvious by *gestures to basically everything*

also. klfds don't even bother reading this i just have to type a more personal post about this whole thing... i was getting very disillusioned with the way things online were going with hockey if i'm honest. i was not having fun watching the team for stretches of the year because of the coverage and the way people talk about these guys, not just mitch, and i'm glad i get to be free of that now. idk if any of you know the feeling of being like. Too Into Something and feeling it be actually detrimental to yourself and your free time and your mood, but i was getting there with the leafs. it was obsessively taking over in a very negative way that i did a bad job of curating and guiding myself out of, and this is such an abrupt stop.

i've met SO many beautiful people just talking online about hockey and then getting to meet up in person and travel and see parts of the us that i never thought to. wonderful and hilarious and generous and lovely people who have helped keep me going. the leafs have given me so much GOOD and so much to look forward to and so much inspiration in a creative sense. and as a sport, hockey just.... IS the best and most fun thing to watch even casually. it feels so so weird to sit here and think i won't be obsessively sitting down to watch every game next season.

man some people have been incredibly weird about the ch 4 weird route scene and im floored that its been changed because of that. metaphors and symbolism can obviously mean multiple things and none of them are literal and i understand the concept of it being unsettling but its honestly really sad to watch how people have reacted to this by and large, to the point where they had to remove the graphic entirely. my two cents

Both after embrace and as Beckett's student, Seth is opposed to killing anyone. When he starts learning the ropes as kindred, being adamant at staying as close to humanity as possible, Seth decides he will not harm kine in any capacity. At a certain point, deciding that feeding falls into that category as well, so he refuses to hunt. He runs on blood packs until money runs out, and then he feeds on animals until the foul taste is too much to bear. With time, inadvertently, he ends up starving himself. To the point of his first frenzy.

He can't remember who he killed. Or perhaps it was too difficult to tell. A young woman, a teenager? The body was too mangled to guess. Whoever they were, they did put up a hell of a fight. Unfortunately, not enough to get away from a very, very hungry beast. Seth is strangely kind to kine, even Beckett noticed that. Not that he goes out of his way to practice a ventrue impression, scoffing and sneering at every human in his vicinity. Beckett is well aware of kines' usefulness and that staying within the good graces of one that that can scratch your back is well advised. But that is the extent of it, an influential politic, a whistleblower, a versed historian - useful people. Seth is an odd one, almost like he doesn't distinguish between kindred or kine. Reserved but polite, cautious but helpful. Seth would roll his eyes at Beckett's teasing - a nod with a cheeky smile, pointing to an old woman carrying groceries like her life depended on it. But as much as he was joking, it wouldn't be a surprising sight if it were to happen. Something he'd better quickly knock out of the fledglings head, for both their sakes. Seth is opposed to killing anyone. There are people who are inconvenient. Hardly his problem when there is always the option to walk away. Then there are opponents, murderers, robbers, criminals, and all kinds of evildoers; when working for the Prince he hid or ran. First, do no harm. Later, with Beckett's guidance, the only thing that's changed is the swiftness and skilfulness with which he removes himself from potential conflict. Then there are innocents who found themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. Most of all, if it was purely Seth's fault for breaking the masquerade. There are persistent Inquisition agents, valuing glory and honour above their life. Then his hands are tied, by proxy Beckett's are too. Seth can kill, he has before, he should. There is really no room for human morality in this life, but he hangs onto this silly idea just a little longer. It will be a while still before he stops taking advantage of Beckett's experience and his bones-deep contempt for disturbing his peace of mind.

Could you explain your position on Shallura? Since Allura was established as a teenager when she started dating Lance and Shiro was very clearly an adult. I can understand the bi shiro headcannon but the shallura thing worries me

i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.
