The left will use everything in their power to make people believe that they’re somehow in touch with the people, but make no mistake, they are ALWAYS about money, power, and control. They are elitist-minded, power-hungry, and extremely good liars. The best thing we as Americans can do is to develop better bullshit detection and be suspicious of everything any politician says and does. The Republicans are as bad, and they would love to have the same type of influence that the left does, so don’t trust them either.

I was never particularly leftist according to the standards of modern leftism, but the main things that have kept me from ever fully embracing leftism are how leftists treat anyone that doesn't pass their arbitrary standards for being oppressed enough and how leftists can and will excuse any action or behavior so long as they think it will further their cause. Leftists have no consistent morals, they'll just say and do anything if they think it will help them one up everyone else.
The holier than thou attitude they have about everything, the weird refusal to accept basic biological facts, and their piss-poor aesthetics are just icing on the cake.

If you see articles and tweets about how the Star of David is now a symbol of fascism and think to yourself "maybe they have a point," then whatever you define as your antizionism has absolutely crossed the line into antisemitism
The Star of David is one of the most important symbols in Judaism. The fact that it is on the flag of Israel does not make it fascist. The government of Israel is separate from the symbol. Labeling such a widely used symbol by a marginalized people as fascist is incredibly dangerous and seeks to conflate Jews as a whole with the Israeli government- something antizionists continually claim people shouldn't do. So why are some doing it?
High control groups slowly ease you into believing nonsensical things. They provide "reasoning" and "logic" which goes largely unchallenged within echo chambers. People in these echo chambers are prone to believing it because they start to see it as real logic instead of bigoted, twisted reasoning. Even otherwise intelligent people can fall for their prejudices as they begin to view it as a form of justice
It is a fantasy that high control group leaders go from 0 to 100 in five minutes or refuse to answer any questions- they are usually much more manipulative
Please confront your biases. The Jews are tired

one of my friends (also a leftist) said that because we live in utah, it doesn't matter who he votes for, and there's no way he will vote for a "fucking cop who was complicit in genocide."
he is telling his friends in utah that they have zero say in who is president, so they shouldn't vote for harris.
and, i love him, but i think that line of thinking is really damaging.
if the stakes were lower for this election, then sure! i'm all in favor of third parties, and i do think that should be more normalized. it would be great to get to a point where we have more viable options than just democrats and republicans.
but this election is against trump. if trump wins, we get project 2025.
this isn't your father's republican party that just wanted to lower taxes and have more free trade. we are looking at rights being taken away for several marginalized communities. major changes that will set us back decades. there is too much on the line, and harris needs every single vote she can get.
saying you won't vote for harris because you live in a red state and don't think your vote will count... like a vote for a third party will??
you're really just saying that you don't mind trump winning, or if you do, you aren't willing to actually do what it takes to stop it.
as for being complicit with the genocide, aren't we all? our tax money is going to the genocide. we are complicit, whether we like it or not.
and harris has openly advocated for a ceasefire! also, do you think trump won't be complicit in the genocide? do you not think he would actively support israel? i'd rather have a president that calls for a ceasefire than one who doesn't. i'd rather have a president who is willing to push back on israel than one who be pushed around by israel.
there's more hope for a ceasefire with harris than there is with trump, and that's worth something.
my friend said "when people look back at your history, don't let them see your name next to a war criminal's."
honestly? in this election, i would rather have my name seen next to harris because that shows i understood that the future of our country and the safety of its citizens was more important than my personal moral superiority.
i don't just vote to make a fucking point. i vote because it impacts people's lives.
it seriously feels like some people are okay with watching the country burn, as long as they feel morally superior.

the disproportionately high 5-star ratings on books that claim to be analyses or histories of Israel and/or Palestine but lack proper research are not a sign that they’re good books, it’s a sign that the book is incredibly targeted and heavily biased in such a way that 1. attracts readers who are inclined to agree with the author, 2. reaffirms beliefs that those readers already have or reassures those readers’ uncertainties in a way that aligns with their existing worldview, and 3. is so unappealing to everyone else that almost no one who would critique or dislike it will read it

Bro imagine comparing a young man who was defending himself from 3 psycho rioters (and before that was helping clean up from the riots) to a psychopath who murdered 10 innocent old people with the intent of racial genocide

from a leftist perspective - which requires us to consider these types of issues within their proper social context - cluster b disorders can be understood as a hyper-adaptation to capitalist alienation - which would then mean that their behavior is a rational response to extremely effed up conditions.
people do not “behave” in a vacuum. when we think “crazy,” we think of wildly irrational, unpredictable behaviors that have no connection to the reality that “sane” people inhabit. but all behavior has context. mental illnesses, including cluster b disorders, are rational responses to the conditions of this anti-human society we are all immersed in, the reality we are all living in. some of us adapt to these conditions better than others, and some of us over adapt - as is the case with cluster b disorders. truth is that the “problematic” behaviors associated with cluster b disorders are actually pretty heavily rewarded in our society under circumstances that are deemed acceptable.
as leftists, we’re supposed to be all about “community” - building community, connection, interdependence, collective well-being. but the truth is that most of us haven’t spent much time thinking on this much deeper than meetings, actions, political work - all guided by our own internalized alienation under neoliberal competitive individualism - that anti-human system that starts hammering away at our humanness from the day we are born. we learn to tolerate it by dehumanizing ourselves and one another - we blunt our own humanity so we can keep plugging along, fulfilling the obligations imposed on us by this anti-human system.
and so we take on the role of oppressor, using the oppressors’ tactics, when someone is seen as disruptive of our shallow efforts to perform “community.” understand that banishment is violence. to deprive a human being of social connection and belonging is to inflict psychic pain and lifelong torment - that’s trauma. and trauma is where cluster b and other mental health diagnoses got their start.
as leftists, we need to broaden our ideas around what constitutes a “leftist space.” if we are serious about transforming society, we need to take ourselves seriously by incorporating counter-alienation practice into our day to day lives.
if we want to raise collective consciousness, we need to recognize the ways our own character has been shaped by social forces, and we need to learn how to recognize the ways those same social forces have shaped others, most especially those who are most severely impacted.
if we hope to decommodify social relations, we must make a conscious and deliberate effort to keep our spaces free from transactional dynamics that replicate market relations
if we are serious about building solidarity, we need to take ourselves seriously by developing community support structures that counter the isolating tendencies that neoliberal society has so deeply instilled in us.
to further isolate the people who have been hit the hardest by capitalist alienation is basically what we have been trained to do by the system. the entire point is to resist.
i am in no way minimizing or dismissing the harm that some people with cluster b disorders can be capable of - i am in the thick of it right now, my life has been a nightmare for the past year and a half and it’s not even close to over. i am hurt, i am afraid, and most of all, i am angry - because it didn’t have to get this bad. none of this shit had to happen and the fact that it’s STILL GOING—-
when we say that people need to be held responsible for the harm they cause, what are we even talking about? punishment? retribution? vengeance? banishment? what is it that you think propels the destructive behaviors we’ve come to associate with BPD? it’s carceral logic. the logic passed down to us by the hegemonic neoliberal order, that tells us to harm one another under the guise of “safety” - is pathologized when it’s turned onto us by those we have left behind.
what i’m saying is that we are them, they are us. and we need to start taking responsibility for the harm done to them as well as the harm we allow them to do to us. they do not have the power that the ruling class has. they could not cause such devastating harm if we were at all serious about building and practicing solidarity.
networks of genuine solidarity, community care, and interdependence mitigate that harm. but for as much as we like to talk about it, few if us have the faintest clue as to what that actually looks like, or how to turn it into action when it matters most.

the number one most useful rhetorical tool is creating a scale and positioning yourself in the middle of it. your arguments instantly sound believable - which gives you a chance to manipulate the situation. even if not explicitly, the majority of us do this when making arguments.
let's take anarchism - hardly an ideology most see as reasonable; my version of it is completely beyond accepted political categories. however, when defending my personal beliefs, i emphasize the balance i'm trying to strike between individualism and community, between violent insurrectionary tactics and dual power structures, creative political imagination and knowledge of reality. along with acknowledging valid criticisms of anarchy instead of rejecting them, this works like a charm in making people more receptive to the idea.
the point being - take control of the narrative, create your own meanings, albeit fluid and ever-changing unlike the hegemonic structure of mainstream society. like fuck you bitch, the spectrum is no longer left-right-centre, autoritarian-libertarian, liberal-conservative. it's now utopian-materialistic or individualist-collectivist or anything you want. and you're somewhere in between the extremes.
of course, all such spectrums are socially constructed, and it would be best to go without them during the creative generation of ideas itself. but for those who wish to engage in public discourse - i find them quite useful.

There's a lot of items on the list to pick, but one of the most annoying and idiotic tenets of leftism is the belief that everyone only likes what they like sexually because everyone is too stupid to understand themselves and what they want out of life, including what kind of romantic and/or sexual partners they prefer. (Unless, of course, your romantic and sexual preferences happen to line up with a leftist if they happen to find you attractive.)
A common issue with incels is how they claim it's unfair that some people don't find them attractive but leftists take this a step further and accuse anyone they happen to find hot who doesn't like them back of being too brainwashed and stupid to know what they actually want because of patriarchy/heteronormativity/insert any other random ass leftist woke term here.
The worst and most vile part about all of this is how leftists claim to care about consent in a sexual context and yet the moment these people happen to like someone who doesn't return their feelings, they accuse them of bigotry because fundamentally, leftists are incapable of understanding that people can have multiple motives for their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, and leftists also don't understand that sexual attraction is hardwired into you by biology. Discourse, social justice movements, social trends, political movements, shaming, scolding, bullying, and shunning can't entirely change anyone's sexual orientation or sexual preferences and the fact that leftists refuse to accept that are why so many of them act and behave like incels and suffer from many of the same problems as incels do.
No means no even if it offends you, and anyone who tries to change that is someone you should be deeply suspect of.

To some degree this is a fair point, but honest to god I've made a lot of progress having my logic beam locked and loaded during convos w ppl in my community. There have been many times where someone tries to present a right-wing talking point as fact, and i pointed out the inconsistency in it, and then a discussion sparked up around it and the person actually went "...huh. wait. .....hm." and really took a step back to think about things bc they genuinely had never thought it through before. I haven't changed lives, but I have made people more aware of their biases and occasionally people change their minds. It's slow work. But sometimes it does work.
And half the time I only had my logic beam ready to go because of people online breaking down those talking points to show the lies in them. Perhaps that makes me stupid, but I do think there is merit to discussing these things and breaking down the lies in bigoted talking points online and out in public spaces.
At the heart of bigotry is just pure and plain hatred, no logic to it, but occasionally you can help people to realize just how ass-backwards their hatred is and sometimes that even results in people beginning to change and become better people. Not often, but it does sometimes happen!

Because it fucking is you idiot. It doesn't even matter whether you think people have "decided" it is, that's what it is??
Israel was only created through the genocide and displacement of Indigenous Palestinians, where they ALSO constantly encourage (specifically White) other people, especially Americans, to go move to Israel, and they keep fucking bulldozing Palestinian homes and land for new Israeli settlements. Which is the definition of a settler colonialism state. It's a state created by coloninialism & genocide of the Indigenous population that also seeks to displace them & replace them with settlers. Why do you think Israel won't let Palestinians return home, even if they lived there before?

"can we talk about how homophobic palestinians are" as a lesbian - who gives a fuuckkk, why are they being asked to prove how progressive they are or aren't to be considered worthy of surviving, i hate these morons so much honestly. um can we talk about all the moral failing of gays before we decide they deserve help to not die and otherwise be harmed, like imagine that line of thinking being taken remotely seriously by most self proclaimed progressive and or leftist people.
Literally. It's such an insidious question to ask with this leftist progressive tone. Why? Why is it important to know? What bearing should this have on anything, in what way should it be relevant to any conversation about Palestinian decolonization, especially with what's happening in Gaza right this moment?
Imagine sending that ask and clapping yourself on the back for being so progressive and full of nuance. Honestly, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Israel released a fake statement that some Palestinians beheaded some 40 trans Palestinians or something and them bombing Gaza and leftists here go "well, violence is bad, but-".
Regardless of the fact that any conversation about the state of acceptance of homosexuals in any Arab country cannot do without having in mind the endless damage the west has caused, both directly and indirectly, in that particular area, it has absloutely no bearing on the colonization of Palestine. None. I beg of white progressive leftists to look beyond sexuality politics for one second and see what's actually happening in the world. Just genuienly one of the most disgusting pieces of propaganda that worked. Fascism is okay apparently if the to-be ethnically cleansed aren't wearing rainbow pins as they're getting bombed out of existence.

bananas how words have simply lost their meanings in the fight to determine which civilians are and aren’t murderable. I don’t think the 25-year old Chinese-jewish paramedic who was violently taken by Hamas is a white woman and I don’t think that the Nepalese students or the Thai agricultural workers who were killed are Israeli Jews or Americans and I don’t think that the members of the Bedouin community killed in attacks on their ancestral homelands are western settler colonialists
