We need to stop web serial authors from being able to see people's comments during the time the story is being updated it's dire here
#this is somewhat about pale lights like I really love Song and as someone who does have quite bad ocd sometimes it truly is Like That#but it's been a bit funny to see that it was like. more normal at the start and now every chapter she's like I woke up in the morning#carefully. then I went down the stairs. counting precisely. I made breakfast in a very ordered manner. my group members went downstairs and#I noticed their badge was unaligned so I immediately told them to fix it.#but like I really do not think it was like this in book 1 and earlier in book 2. like I could be misremembering but it would be the sort of#thing I'd notice and I think in book 1 it was more implied or unintentional. and it's the sort of thing that could make sense as an#intentional choice to make it more overt if it was something about her being more stressed at the moment so symptoms got worse or whatever#but at the moment it's really looking like the extremely common web serial situation where like. author writes a character that has a#pedantic and careful temprament or whatever -> readers with ocd comment and are like wow that character's portrayal is relatable maybe they#are implied to have ocd -> author is like wow since people are saying this is must make it obvious that that's what's happening -> you end#up with 'I woke up in the morning and obsessed about things. then I walked down the stairs (compulsively)#(obviously not saying that the specific example is the frequent thing more so the characters changing to fit a stereotype or to make#something that worked as an analogy actually literal after reader comments)#and it just ends up sounding kind of silly and sort of missing why the portrayal was interesting in the first place. hashtag whatever.#she's definitely still my favourite of the protagonists it's just like...

so something I've noticed within a lot of fandoms is that people will post their "neurodivergent" headcanons. which is fine ofc, however when they say "neurodivergent" they are typically only referring to autism or ADHD. maaaayybbee ptsd if the character(s) are "traumatized enough" (by that I mean, there's typically one who everyone uwuifies and infantilizes because their trauma is most prominently on display within the media). a common headcanon that often fails to address the trauma of other characters, or that trauma doesn't always manifest itself as PTSD/C-PTSD.
point being, while there's nothing wrong with headcanoning characters with these (autism, adhd, ptsd), maybe...do research? branch out more? imagine how nice it would be if suddenly large amounts of people were not only educated about other lesser-known forms of neurodivergence (ocd, did, npd, bpd, aspd, schizotypal disorders, etc.) but destigmatized them by giving these headcanons to well-loved, popular characters (rather than the villains or antagonists, or even just less popular or even hated characters). (and hey, if you didn't know, schizophrenia and autism can present similarly)
(that being said please do research before you head canon something stigmatizing or ableist.)
it could pave the way for real, genuine, non-stigmatizing or demonizing representation.
and this could probably be a separate post but I wanted to include it here as well:
POC CHARACTERS CAN BE NEURODIVERGENT. POC CHARACTERS ARE ALSO AUTISTIC, ALSO HAVE ADHD, OCD, AND MORE!! STOP LEAVING THEM OUT, STOP ONLY HEADCANONING THE WHITE PROTAGONISTS AS AUTISTIC.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, please feel free to add on

Honestly Monk was SUCH a good show for me to see as a young teen I'm ngl. Like yeah, it's not an overly accurate representation of OCD and I'm sure there's things that probably didn't age very well, but OH MY GOD can you even comprehend how amazing it was to get to see a canonically disabled, ND, and, more specifically, PROFOUNDLY ANXIOUS badass main character when you're a freshly diagnosed autistic & anxious young 12-13 year old with the only real advice from a crappy psychiatrist being to "learn to step out of your comfort zone or consider beginning prescription medications."
To get to see "do it scared" depicted in cinematic action in both heroic and relatively mundane contexts. A touch-averse, routine adhering, socially awkward, sensory issue having character as a SMART AND COURAGEOUS PROTAGONIST!
Hell, it was pretty amazing (for me at least) to see a character use those disinfectant handwipes every episode! I have severe food allergies and I have to carry a pack or canister with me for when I need to eat in town or when I've had to go into a grocery store and now that there's a pandemic and food allergies are rather more of an understood issue it's not all that weird a thing to have, but at the time it was definitely yet another step apart from peers and by god was it awesome to see a (again, smart and awesome) character use them too, even if it wasn't for quite the same reasons.
There's things that took longer to germinate too (and tbh still are).
That you don't owe people being "normal and easy". Yes, you have to be cognizant of their needs, boundaries, and how your behavior affects them, but it's still okay to need help and to do things in odd ways and have unusual needs.
That sometimes you're going to fail, do things badly, not be able to be as reasonable as you logically know you should. That logic can't always beat fear even when it should, and that it doesn't make YOU a failure, it means you have to try again another time or try differently.
And that sometimes people aren't as good for you as they seem, no matter how much history you have, and it hurts, it truly does, but sometimes it leads you to connect, by pure chance, with a compassionate stranger, and time will make the disparities between them clearer to the point that when you look back you don't know how you ever thought they were your ally just because they put up with your problems

Hiiiiiiii
I would like to hear you ramble about charisk some more if you don’t mind!
Yay :) sorry this took so long to respond. I had a lot of thoughts and have been writing this sporadically.
I love charisk they r very silly to me. Codependent 10 year olds with no boundaries by proxy of sharing a soul, give one abandonment issues and make the other as emotionally constipated as a ten year old can be and you gotta recipe for disaster which is what I think they r. Disaster babies..
My ideal dynamic for the two is frisk eating trash, chara going "ew" and then excitedly directing frisk towards more trash. Other ways I have described them: ambassador and their 'evil' advisor (chara thinks this is a pointless addition, all advisors are evil), dawg look at my lawyer I am going to jail, Speedrunner chara who looks up walk-through and guides x fuck around and miss half the story by skipping important dialog frisk. If they were to play Minecraft together chara makes exp and villager farms while frisk is a million miles away 'exploring' and digging straight down for the vibes (vibes being screaming down their mic running from endermen while chara is trying to get a mending villager). OCD x ADHD. Uncomfortable amount of eye contact x cannot look anybody in the eye for any reason at all. Would rage quit a game if they dont get their way x save scummer. The words worst middle school situationship ever! Hundreds dead no survivors!!! Kid with protagonist syndrome x another kid with who has whatever the opposite of that is. Narrator x the hero. Soulmates by most definitions of the term but more specifically they share a soul and are mates. Kid whose transition goals include the arch-angel angel Gabriel and the puppet from fnaf x kid whose gender is whatever happens to be in their pockets at the time (bugs and rocks mostly, sometimes a quarter and a half eaten lollipop).
It's something I ship because I find it very, very silly and cute, but also has the ability to be compelling to! I love characters that are so wrapped around each other that they basically become one person. One entity. Romantic or not I just like that dynamic. (Shout-out to garnet Steven universe for being the blueprint). I'm down for shipping frisk with any of the other kid characters (friskid is super cute..) but charisk is always going to be my favorite of them. "What if I was a ghost kid who hated humanity and failed my one goal to save the species who adopted me and then I wake up immediately after that failure and have to haunt you this weird human kid who CAN complete the prophecy I thought I was destined for" ... it's cute to me.
I'm very picky when it comes to depictions of chara and while I don't necessarily like soft chara or soft frisk I do prefer those depictions over ones where chara or frisk are entirely evil or adversaries with opposing goals because to me the crux of their relationship should be that they are working together!! I don't really like the idea that chara would have to change or 'redeem' themselves in order to be loved, I think frisk should love them BECAUSE chara can be mean and snarky and a jerk. And I think chara shouldn't be guilt tripping frisk or making them feel bad for being 'curious' or starting nm because chara helped and encouraged that route! I think chara would grow fond of frisk for a multitude of reasons beyond frisk being able to 'save monsterkind'! I like their relationship more when they view each other more as co-conspirators rather than either trying to 'save' the other, they should be besties first, star crossed lovers second. I could see their relationship starting out very rocky with chara being standoffish at first until they warm up to frisk, with the added angst of not recognizing the underground anymore and going along with whatever choices are made as 'neccesary' in order to move on. I can only really see them developing a strong bond after multiple resets and neutral runs becoming the only people who recall everything since even flowey doesn't remember nms and pacifists.
Chara as a character does seem obsessed with consequences and the idea of moving on, which is where I can see drama coming from in the relationship as frisk to me is the opposite of that in wanting to turn over every branch, see everything they can, and know everything they can. (And if I ever get around to making a charisk fic this is probably what it'll be about). I don't think chara sticks around as a ghost after any of the endings except for the neutrals and none of those are particularly happy either. I think nm and pacifist fulfill the prophecy in a way that allows charas 'ghost' as it were to be fulfilled which is another motivator for frisk to keep reseting because if they dont they lose chara... which is something chara can't understand.
I've got a miriade of headcanons for them and how the whole soul sharing thing works and I do believe the player is an entity in the game, so that's another aspect of their relationship to me. "What if I fell underground and you were a cool ghost telling me shit and I was possessed by an eldritch being that shares your name and then they make me kill a bunch of people and I probably woulda done that anyways but then you take over and then they sell their soul which is also mine to you" <- something like that. Idk I like undertales narrative 10x more when the meta part of is apart of it. That and I think chara is aware of us too. We named them and while you could read their speech as them talking to frisk I prefer reading it as them talking to US. But I do still think frisk would have done no mercy of their own volition too out of curiosity or even a desire to see what would change if they did it without our help. Mostly I just think without us they would have done two no mercy's max, a bunch of true pacifist and then even more neutrals in an effort to stretch the game out as long as they can while chara would get more and more bored not understanding why frisk won't just give up and live their life without them.
Tldr: I think they're silly and have the possibility to be the exact sort of angsty codependent weirdos I like while also being able to be just plain cute weirdos that make me sad. They should get to play Pokémon together and go on a chaperoned date to chucky cheese so chara can info dump the fnaf lore to frisk while frisk tries to recreate the bite of 87 with the animatronics to 'rizz them up'. Pathetically down bad frisk x chara who is honestly embarrassed that it's working....

finding a happy ending | 100line rant
spoilers for prologue/route 0 !!
this is not an analysis, just a short rant !! if i ever actually do a 100line analysis i'll probably delete this post. just one of my messy rambles.
i'm sure ill be able to discuss this better once im done with the game but i really really love how openly mentally ill eito is and how it works with the theme of the game. something about the ending of the prologue not being the actual ending because, if you want a happy ending for your life and you want happiness for your friends, you have to tackle the actual issues within intimacy and interactions instead of just having fun and laughing around. and this is presented through very cartoonish gags and through eito being a cartoonish but painfully human villain......you truly can't have a happy ending unless you face this and face eito's issues (which mirror your own) and something about that is just so interesting to me.
just fighting and defeating eito isn't enough, not when you lose so much in the process and when you're betrayed and your hopes get crushed. in many endings, forgiving and understanding eito gets you actually closer to the dreamed happy ending, because he is not actually an antagonist. and as a character, he wouldn't work as well if he wasn't so...eito. maybe i'm looking into it too much, but his mental state adds so much to the story and narrative to me. hopefully i can expand further on this as i play. (not fully related, and this is just headcanons, but they really created the most ocd guy they could)
i also absolutely love how he intertwines with takumi's narrative...giving takumi the power to become villanous on some endings, it blurs the strong protagonist/antagonist line that is built during the prologue, further proving that such dichotomy isn't realistically possible. life, relationships and humanity are much more complex than that.
i deeply love how 100line wouldn't work with any other structure. it works because of how the prologue and routes are made. i knew it was going to be narratively enticing from the get go because of how its built, but it really is.
EDIT (spoilers!!): the fact that the dolmenic cognitive therapy didn't work on eito kinda solidifies this point to me, because there's no easy fix for his issue, just like on a bigger scale there's no easy fix for the 100 days and everything takumi's facing.

TTTTRRRRRIPLE THREAT!!! Finally got around to drawing in Charles as well, so head-canons and nationalities are below the cut ^^ it’s really long so brace yourself if you choose to read it!!!!
Tumblr media
HENRY. Oh boy. The main guy. The dude. The sometimes brawn n the sometimes brain. The most of the time neither. Best protagonist for having the : “fuck around and find out” mentality.
I was, honestly kinda sick of the fandom white twink Henry (no hate I also depicted him as the fandom white twink) so he took a !! WOKE TURNAROUND !! N became a goth/punk Filipino-American unlabeled queer dude. I feel like he’d play around with labels and pronouns and never really stick with any—same with sexual orientations. (He/him, yeah who cares? She/her? Yes please.)
I feel like they’d be very free flowing with their identity and Henry doesn’t seem like he’d have a strict definition of who he is or who he wants to be. Having ambiguous morals and ideas too, makes sense. He doesn’t really have too much of a defined canon personality, so this fits in well enough.
Henry also has ADHD, potentially OCD in my interpretation. (I would also clarify kleptomania but that is pretty much canon :/)
He struggles with both impulsive and intrusive thoughts. this is projection from my experience with OCD.
Henry also LOVES flavor extremes—sweet, sour, spicy—doesn’t matter as long as it’s as strong as his cologne (/lhj) plus The puffer jacket he wears more or less is the inter-dimensional one-hole to all the shit he randomly can pull out seemingly out of NOWHERE. Henry stands at a handsome 5’9, making him the shortest of the group.
Tumblr media
ELLIE!!! ELLIE!!! Everyone cheer for our favorite girl ever PLEASE
I put so much love into her design because I feel like she really deserves it. Unfortunately being one of the few female characters in the series made her subjected to not only a lot of ignorance from the fandom but also a lot of blatant misogyny—but that is an essay for another time. I wanted Ellie’s design to kind of … highlight the balance between her strength and her traditional femininity. (Her makeup for instance.) I didn’t want to make her ENTIRELY tomboyish nor did I want to make her totally feminine—not that either interpretations are wrong, but they’re not personally how I see her. So, I took inspiration from the tech wear aesthetic—a fashion style that has many variations and is generally androgynous. I took inspiration from some sort of wraparound skirt worn with pants for her bottoms, and a simple tank top for her top. This allowed me to play around with her muscles and scarring (I tried to replicate lightning strikes more dramatically kshjsgjsv) anyways sorry for the looooooong ramble about her appearance I’m just so SO happy with how it turned out.
Anywho, Ellie to me is Japanese American, and she’s a transgender woman. I’m not entirely sure if I see her as a sapphic or a lesbian, but she’s definitely more girl-inclined when it comes to romance, imo. I gave her a few moles n freckles because I find it really cute on characters and people. I also like to think her hair is dyed, and her hair is black, so I chose to show her roots in. She has a bit of a tan and a jade bracelet that she wears as well.
As for Ellie’s powers—I really don’t know. I like to think she’s just talented like that or some sort of psychic superhero.
I like to imagine that Ellie’s favorite genre’s in media are psychological/cosmic horror and comedy action. Her watch history on Netflix is absurd because she’d have a movie with the rock as its lead like jumanji on her top ten with like…. The grudge. I don’t know. I also like to imagine that Ellie LOVES world history and that traveling is one of her favorite hobbies. She’s a linguist of sorts and enjoys learning languages and cultures. Her favorite types of foods are salty or sweet, but she prefers more milder flavors and is more picky with her food. Though, she does enjoy the more refined palate and knows her way around wines and Chardonnays. Also her dad is a girl dad I don’t know how else to describe it.
Ellie graduated from a decent college with a degree in economics. She has no idea why she chose this degree and absolutely regrets it.
Tumblr media
CHARLES CALVIN!!! CHARLIE!! Don’t lie to me I know you guys were WAITING for this one!!
I know, out of the whole entire fandom, that this guy has the most INCONSISTENT fandom design. None of us know how he looks like. I myself have like . 15. Theyre all correct and I love love love seeing your guys’ charles interpretations. But for me, right now, this guy fits the face of Charles. Inspired off of the current Canadian NASA Artemis astronaut Jeremy Hansen, I feel like Charles really suits his face and energy and such. Of course I changed some stuff around but yeah. Classic oversimplified Air Force military uniform and the whole getup.
I imagine him to have like very light blonde hair . He has a lot of facial and body hair if you zoom in it’s just light and clear ahaksgjsg AND FRECKLES!!!! THE MANS FULL OF IT!!!
Ohhhhhgggghh I love Charles so much. He’s so full of joy. To me I feel like he’s the cis guy who thinks he’s also het but he isn’t. He’s more like, bi, with a female lean. To me, at least—I’m not entirely sure. I don’t think he’d necessarily think about romance often but he wouldn’t MIND being in a relationship either. I feel like maybe he’d casually date (not hookup btw that is different) but nothing would really ever stick. I never really headcanon religions on characters but for some unknown reason he is Christian to me and I have NO idea why. (I know these are headcanons and I don’t have to justify myself but I feel like I do svjsvjsgixhidh)
Uhhhh he’s a biker. He likes extreme sports…. He forgot how to drive a car. Heres screenshots below with my friend because I don’t wanna retype everything
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles is the tallest of the group at 6’1. His boots do make him slightly taller though
He Is. Such an adrenaline junkie I can’t even emphasize this enough.
Also he’s CANADIAN AMERICAN!! I feel like he grew up in Vancouver for a bit :) moved back n forth between the states n so I believe
Anywho I think that’s it I’ll edit and add more if so thanks goodbye

Some more thoughts about Attack on Titan, this time addressing the fascism accusation (and some rambling’s about Eren supposedly behaving out of character) . The fascism accusation is what prevented me from watching it before (also AoT being insanely popular to the point of cringe).
tl;dr: I saw a YT video accusing AoT of fascist propaganda and I felt like we didn’t watch the same show.
Before I watched AoT I was given two hints about the ending:
“Things reverse” and “it’s fascist”
A part of me dreaded the ending would blow up into a disaster, and I was pleasantly proven wrong. There are a ton of YT videos about why the ending sucked, and they tend to revolve around Eren being horribly inconsistent about his motives for The Rumbling, rather than the fact he uhh did The Rumbling. For some disturbing reason in some fan endings, people insist he should have killed 100% of humanity outside of Paradis, and uhhh really, why?
In an Isayama interview, he said iicr that he felt “Eren was back” when Eren went into super whiny woobie mode. I think he meant to make Eren pathetic and knew there were chad readers rooting for him to destroy the world.
I know people wanted Eren to have a more clear, concise motive for The Rumbling rooted in protecting Paradis. What we got was Eren being a huge psychological mess. But the fact there isn’t I think is the point. As someone with obsessive compulsive disorder, I get the idea of having to go forward with something, wanting to do it, but not wanting to do it and all that headfuckery. So I think of Eren’s mindset for The Rumbling being that he has to do it the way a drug addict has to do drugs, the way someone with OCD has to do the ritual, the way someone with a phobia has to avoid the thing even if they know it’s harmless. In this type of mindset you can sound like different people talking and it can be confusing and scary to watch.
It’s basically him being a slave to the specific kind of freedom he imagined as a child, thirsting for it no matter what. He wants this but he knows it’s wrong and stupid. But he wants this so bad. Yet he is trapped in the time loop of his own desire. He knows he will die if he does this, he knows he will disappoint his friends, but he has. to. do. it. This is why I theorize The Rumbling is more than just an event, it feels much bigger as if Eren is a vessel for it. It may be the full force of Ymir’s rage, it may be something locked with King Fritz’s threat, it may be Eren having no control over himself and accepting his “nature” that makes him the perfect vessel for it.
IDK what Isayama’s experience with mental illness is, but if that was what he was trying to convey, then he did a good job but one that others would have difficulty understanding.
Now onto the main point.
At the end of season 3, I dreaded two possible endings:
- That Paradis would attack the world and prove that Marley was right about them. Eren uses the Founding Titan powers to wipe everyone’s memories in Paradis and make sure they never leave. The edict of Fritz is maintained once again.
- Paradis attacks the world. Eren and his friends and thematically the story itself would lean into Paradis going back to the brutal, tyrannical Eldian empire and this being a good thing.
Neither of them came to fruition; at the end of the Liberio raid arc I was glad that the rest of the Survey corp team didn’t agree with Eren’s actions.
One of the things that got people saying it’s fascist was the idea that wiping out the rest of the world was necessary for Paradis to live.
But The Rumbling is framed in horror, inhumanity, and brutal violence. The new cast of protagonists are against it. We are shown many innocent people including children being killed. Hange outright calls The Rumbling genocide. We see a motley group of characters who hated and wanted to kill each other eat stew from the same pot and come together. They reflect on the cycle of violence and absurdity of blaming people for the actions of their ancestors.
I think there is too much focus on Eren. Throughout the series Eren’s role seemed to have faded into being a McGuffin and many other characters took the spotlight more like Levi and Historia. However the ending of season 3 he started to get back in the spotlight more.
The Rumbling is clearly a bad thing, and never said to be the only way. Only that it was the predetermined way.
Another accusation of facism is the Jaegerists and that they continue post the Battle of Heaven and Earth. The Jaegerists are not the good guys, and they are the antagonists. Even Eren and Zeke just were using them and their loyalty. Paradis descends into nationalism at the end, but we see this isn’t a good thing. We see Sasha’s family walk by a Jaegerist/New Eldian Empire rally with disgust, showing not all Eldians agree with them. The Eldians from Paradis fear retribution from the world but we don’t know how far they go. It seems that centuries pass before war comes to Paradis, it may just be a conflict that happens for reasons countries go to war.
There are two mottos that the series brings up at the beginning that fueled some accusations of fascism: “kill or be killed” and “you must give up your humanity”, these serve as pep talks when one is prey desperate not to die. Then Eren takes these both to their extremes and becomes predator. So the series actually critiques those mindsets when the situation unfolds in complexity and an outside world exists.
I think overall it’s the confusion about whether or not a piece of media is supporting or critiquing a mindset/ideology that throws people off about it. You have to look at the context and consider that the author has a lot of counterpoints, some pretty much spoonfed to the reader.
The one I think is fuzziest is “both sides are equally bad”, which I really don’t think is the case. I can see where this comes from, especially with Eren’s “we are the same” speech to Reiner. Especially when we see the raid on Liberio scene and the scene where Bertolt is eaten. It’s morally gray, but it never got to “we’re the bad guys now”, which is what I feared. We just see how it looks from the other’s side’s perspective to remind us all we’re human and war is ugly. The sides contrasted aren’t Eldians and Marleyans, but Eldians from Paradis, and Eldians from Liberio who are both victims. Even worse, elite Eldians are complicit in their suffering; on Paradis it was the Reiss family, on Marley it was the Tybur family. They secured their own power at the cost of the rest of their people because they are elite fucks.
I think it’s a little harder to grasp the theme of “cycle of hatred” for those in the U.S. Our history of conflicts within U.S soil is often one of imperialism and conquest by groups of people in power and often is one-sided.
However, around the world we do see cycles of hate and violence that are rooted through the centuries.
So “ending the cycle of hatred” can seem to feel tone deaf to those striking back at their oppressors. Even Fullmetal Alchemist had this criticism.

Oldass Character Bracket: Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruno Madrigal from the animated movie Encanto is the protagonist's shunned uncle who has been gifted/cursed with a supernatural power to see into the future. Even his own family fears his abilities and he was forced out. He's anxious and possibly coded as a person with OCD. He's also a triplet :)
No propaganda was submitted (if anyone wants to add something here, comment).
Scrooge McDuck from the cartoon Ducktales is an old capitalist who (completely uncharacteristically for a rich person) achieved his fortune himself. He's greedy and loves money, but in the end he's just a lonely old man who loves adventure. His triplet nephews made him realize how much he needs family.
Propaganda:
He is canonically immortal due to him using druid stones in the reconstruction project for Castle McDuck (The Secret(s) of Castle McDuck!). It is unclear WHEN he gained immortality, as Goldie O'Gill says he's looking younger thanks to him taking time in a timeless demon dimension (The Golden Lagoon of White Agony) so it's possible he was even older than he looks now due to such magics. The only concrete timeline is that Scrooge was canonically part of the Klondike Gold Rush (The Golden Lagoon of White Agony). That lasted from 1896-1899. So Scrooge was a full grown adult in the late 1890's and is still alive in the late 2010's. (submitted by @itsthenerdwonder)
A lot of triplets mentioned in this poll...

My friend really loves employee 432 so I drew my version of him seriously. Also as a complement of 'my parable'.
Emloyee 432,the timekeeper or the settings person whatever (Let's just call him 432) was the former protagonist in the story. At that time, the narrator was not as performative as now.On the other hand,he was far too serious. He made lots of crazy experiments on 432 to study human and that led to 432's madness.
Later the narrator felt bored with the mad person,so he deleted 432.BUT SOMEHOW IT DIDN'T WORK PERFECTLY.432 was alive though his existence was nealy erased. What's more, for his strong will,he became a demigod of the parable.
He was once a nice person.(however, his OCD and overcuirosity made him hard to finish his task in time.so not be welcomed by his boss and the narrator~)But through all thoes nonhuman experiments,432 lost his capacibility to empathize. After a long time being trapped in the company,he just wants to get back the feeling of controling his life.
He is very clever actually.Soon got uesd to his power and takes the best advantage of it.Finally there is a chance for enjoying his hobbies and having fun.The most intereing thing is obiously the new toy of NARRY:Stanley. It would be pretty fun to control someone else and see the narrator angry.
Different from the mean narrator,432 behaves much more kinder to Stanley. He insists he stands the same side with Stanley and is willing to help.Well, that's a dirty trick. The real purpose is to control Stanley both physically and mentally.
I know my thought is too dark but I really love this design.Hope you guys like it too.If not,I am very sorry for that.
The second pictrue shows how 432 uses Stanley's psychological weakness to gain his trust. He successed literally. And this scene is very simliar to that old meme.So I drew the third pictrue.
Because there is just a little content about the narrator,I'll just pass his tags.

Hello!
I have a character I am considering be OCD (or possibly OCPD) and she is the narrator/POV character for a large portion (1/3) of the book. My issue is, if I decide to give her any condition related to compulsions, intrusive thoughts, etc, how do I get across the severity of the condition while neither pounding the readers over the head to the point of boredom/frustration, nor minimizing/erasing her symptoms by just ignoring them until they are relevant to the story? (The plot's focus is not on her disability, but disability is an underlying current through the whole book.)
I think this would be much easier of a balance to strike if it were a short story, especially since i have written short stories before from the POV of characters with similar issues, but this is going to be a full-length novel, and she'll probably be the narrator for like 60,000 words, and that is a lot longer for a reader to keep interest in her.
To be clear, I'm not asking for a list of symptoms or anything like that. I have been doing research and continue to, for that. I'm just wondering how to strike the balance between those experiences and turning off the reader from repetitiveness.
Hi asker,
What I think is you don't always have to describe all the thoughts in detail. If there's common themes/recurring imagery or the like in her thoughts, you could focus on that to minimize repetitiveness.
For example, if one of her themes is that she worries she might accidentally hurt someone, you could describe it in the first times it happens in-story as something like...
"As I walked next to Michael, I worried i might hurt him without intending to. What if I tripped and fell onto him? We were near the road. I always worried. I focused on counting my steps to make sure nothing would go wrong."
As in, you don't have to specify how exactly she's worried it might happen, or that her brain is giving her thoughts that it could happen in way A and B and C. And then, at some other point, when the triggering situation happens again, you can do something like,
"Michael walked next to me. I counted my steps. He told me about...."
However, you can absolutely embrace that repetitiveness as a narrative style. The more repetitiveness you write in, the more anxiety you are conveying, because you're conveying the thought loop that OCD causes.
You can also focus on the emotions your character feels during thought loops and compulsions to varying degrees. Sometimes she might be more distressed than other times. Sometimes she might just be annoyed. Sometimes she believes the compulsions more, sometimes she tries harder to resist them.
I would actually suggest picking up books with protagonists with OCD, just to see how this repetition is played with in the stories.
Books I can recall off the top of my head that I have read that have a protagonist with OCD are Turtles All The Way Down, The Goldfish Boy, and OCDaniel, and I don't remember myself getting turned off by repetitiveness at any point. I recommend them as interesting reads, but I read them all a while ago and can't go into much detail. They are all also YA or Middle Grade just because I enjoy those types of books, haha.
Hope this helps,
mod sparrow

i haven't played eternal strands yet but i was (finally) watching the trailers on steam and the conversations being in a bit of a visual novel format was so charming 😭 the MC has a cool design too, i love her already. did you find the characters interesting??
The characters really grew on me during their personal quests. Theres one thats just helping someone get medication and emotional support for their OCD and it was solid. The voice acting was amazing.
Oria and Laen were my favorites. Sevastyan ended up being really interesting. And without spoiling, I like the characters that are introduced later on. One specific guy is so. Irritating. Created in a lab just for me. He's the worst I love him.
I think the only one I didnt connect with was Brynn because she reminds me of Rook lol. She's so JRPG Protagonist in her personality. But by the end of things she earned her right to be the modern-speaking quirked-up power-of-friendship girlie.
Overall its not crazy game of the year level storytelling but its fun and really well done. I wanna see what the studio does next with player feedback and an even bigger budget so I'll keep recommending it. 🥺❤️
