about me/this blog: this blog is Godzilla and Gamera centric and I'll mainly be posting art for my mini continuities, most of which i dont take very seriously. I’ve got 3 main continuities, one is a goofy combined universe that takes place after defeating the Big Bad, its mostly silliness and drama at the monster brunch club. The second is a Gamera Universe I’m chipping away at, it spun off of the 1st one but developed its own self contained story arc. I’ve named it Cyclogenesis and I think it’s my favourite to work on. The third and final continuity you'll see me posting about is a comic based on Gamera Vs. Zigra called Rapid Ascent . If all goes well, it should be released later this year!

about me [giant monster related]: The first godzilla movies i saw were millennium and my designs/art's general vibe reflects that i think[?]. I used to rent all the films i could find at blockbuster video[RIP]. I got back into big monsters after seeing KotM and i think the monsterverse is p cool, if not a little grating. Candle Cove Headcanons (2)

This set focuses more on the fictional "fandom" (read: the people who either remember watching the show or have heard about it from their parents who have) would react to what they assume to be the show's attempts at representation.

TW: Poor Representation of Mental Health and Chronic Health Conditions (particularly skin conditions), Mentions of Period Specific Stigmas/Discrimination and Abusive Behaviors

• The show has had people debating a lot of aspects about it, and the topic of representation, more particularly in the mental health department, is a big one. While doing so, many people like to mention how the show was created in the 70's, not necessarily to defend the poor representations of certain topics and groups of people, but instead to try to explain why it might be that way.

• One major topic is Pirate Percy, who is stuck in the odd limbo of "This Man Seems Like He Might Have Something Like Schizophrenia, But The Show Never States It, And It Could Technically Be Magic Bullcrap". However, people do tend to agree that, regardless of whether or not it is magic, his symptoms are very in line with the condition. So, he is still similar enough, where people still see him as being the show's "representation" of it.

The problem then begins where Percy is, unfortunately, a victim of the Schizophrenia to Violent Criminal Pipeline that the media likes to latch onto, mainly with the final episode where a paranoid Percy attacks Janice, and it is implied that he did so to his last crew. Many are not so surprised by this, because the 70's was not the best at representation or awareness of mental illness due to the stigma around it being much stronger back then, even if it is still around today. Others have pointed out that, if Percy was supposed to have a mental health condition and it wasn't magic, he is most likely in a very tricky spot as the world of Candle Cove seems to take much inspiration from the late 1700s to early 1800s. Back then, the main mental health treatments were to either deal with it on your own, asylums, or some sort of religious intervention. This was further proven by a few episodes where Horace would say that Percy should go to an asylum, seemingly implying that asylums are an existing thing in their time. So, not only was he a victim of the Schizophrenia to Violent Criminal Pipeline, he is also in the situation of "If the Creators Wanted to Show Accurate Treatment Within the Setting They put Themselves Into, it Would be Horrible. If They Wanted to Try to Show More Believable but Accepting Reactions and Treatment of it, Nobody In-Universe Would Actually Fit Because Nobody in that Era Understood It". Basically a damned if they do damned if they don't scenario they put themselves in because they wanted to make the show as accurate as they could.

Some of the younger fans who only know the show from listening to their parents describe it have made drawings and jokes about the scenario. They could range from a lighthearted "Get Well Soon, Percy!" card, to a more grim Percy in an asylum rambling to the doctors about the Laughingstock. There's even a joke theory that the entirety of Candle Cove was all in Percy's head, based on the numerous theories about Janice imagining the events of Candle Cove. In short, they shitpost about it all the time.

• Another, albeit more quiet topic of discussion is the mentions of chronic skin conditions in the show. Granted, with a character called The Skintaker in the show, some feel it was simply going to happen either way. The Skintaker has a very creepy, obsessive way of viewing skin in general, but his treatment of individuals with visible skin conditions, or conditions that impact the appearance of skin, like vitiligo or albinism, is extra creepy and obsessive. While some see it as the creators simply trying to make the villain seem very creepy, others see it as being way too uncomfortable. Especially because other characters in the show don't actually point out the fact that him targeting specific groups of people is a habit of his, or that it is a extremely unsettling obsession of his to go after these people specifically. They simply treat it like he's going after anyone and everyone with no acknowledgement of his fixation on people with visible medical differences in their skin.

Some others also point out that he's the only one to technically talk about skin conditions positively. While he does say some actually good words of encouragement in certain scenes, it is immediately flushed out by the fact that he's talking about them this way because he's obsessing over their skin, and the fact that he's the villain of the show doesn't help that situation either. The Skintaker also having a fondness for things he seems as "weird" makes the situation even more convoluted, since some can see the fascination being due to him liking skin, and the condition the person has could be seen by him as an extra "weird" factor into it.

Many agree that this whole situation could've been avoided if the creators of the show added a few scenes where other characters point out how odd his behavior regarding it is, but also can see how the actual characters would not mention it to him. He's already so weird about skin in general, the characters In-Universe might not even think of it as something worth talking to him about, or even see it as surprising or shocking. They just wish there was something to show that, while his behavior is bad, visible conditions are still something you shouldn't be something to be ashamed about having if you do.

• The final thing a lot of people find bad is the treatment of Horace. While yes, he is the villain's sidekick, he also makes it pretty clear that the Skintaker does not treat him well. Quite the opposite. That, and many think he is only working for him because he is desperate for positive attention from someone, and the Skintaker takes advantage of that. Yet, nobody in the show shows him any sympathy, or points out that the Skintaker is very abusive towards him, which is something Horace himself is either unaware of or ignores because of the fact the Skintaker still treats him positively on some occasions. The show even plays it off for laughs at some times. They completely ignore the fact he has shown redeemable traits, possibly seeing the fact he's hurting the protagonists and deeming him unworthy of sympathy or help in his situation. That, and they also ignore the fact that a lot of his harmful behaviors come from the Skintaker telling him to do it, and not because he actually wants to.

A lot of people in the fandom, for obvious reasons, find this extremely distasteful. They also believe it's another case of the 70's just not being that aware of how to properly represent these situations. That, and because it is technically supposed to be a children's show, they might not have intended for the treatment of Horace to be viewed in such a light. The creators might've just intended for it to all be treated as silly slapstick comedy, combined with a some motivation for Horace to stick around in spite of it, without realizing the fact it could be seen in a much darker light by an older audience. Well, an older audience that never could see the show, but was most likely still being thought about due to the adult comedy still being present.

A lot of people have joined a "movement" called Horace Deserves Better, where they "advocate" for better treatment of him in the fandom. The thing is, the fandom is so small that basically everybody is in that supposed movement and believes he deserves better in the show, and so there's really no need for it.

• The only representation that most people agree on being pretty okay are the unnamed guests on the Laughingstock. Sometimes there'd be a guest on the ship, most often being of a different culture, and some even speaking different languages. Most remember a Polish girl, a Korean chef, and a German man. However, there are many more that people cannot remember entirely, but remember aspects of their visits. A few people remember Percy advising Janice to try foreign foods before making picky judgements on them, but never necessarily for ing her to eat them if she's too uncomfortable with them.

The only real worry about the representation of the guests is not even necessarily any sort of misrepresentation, but actually mistranslations. The German guest most people remember couldn't speak English, and the Laughingstock crew couldn't speak German, with the episode being about language barriers. However, the episode did have English translations onscreen for his speech, which read like someone calmly trying to ask for for help finding his way home. However, one viewer, who's native tongue is German, remembers the actual German he was speaking to be much more disturbing. He remembers the man begging for help, and that someone was following him and was going to hurt him. The Skintaker was in the background of most scenes in that episode, which implies that the Skintaker was the person the man was talking about.

Starting with airbus because I will leave the best for last (fight me on it i am AMERICAN 🦅🇺🇲🤠🦅🤠🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲🦅🤠🦅🇺🇲 GRAVES WOULD BE PROUD)

1 - Airbus a300.

Off to a good start because I honestly have the hardest fucking time identifying both the a300 and a310... I forgot they even existed for a good while.

I guess you can identify these because they have the same cockpit windows and overall fusolodge shape as the a330.. but you'd need to know what a a330 looks like first 💀

So I just imagine a a330 but without wingtips ... also making it look quite old? Idek 😋

2 - airbus a310

Basically the same shit as the a300... but shorter/smaller???? Idk you can blame airbus for that. Im also pretty sure Boeing did the same thing with the b707 and the b721..

Idk but there was a good while where I actually thought the a310 was the a300 bc.. smaller plane = smaller number??? Idk

Okay so id identify it as a a330 looking ass plane but TINY and with those same flat wings without wingtips as the a300 😌

3 - airbus a220 DANG I FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE

Okay man this one wasnt even created by airbus themselves... so the fact its so different might help you or it might make shit harder.

Its a small narrowbody aircraft.. comparable to the a320 but the wingtips are different and... just hear me out on this one..

It has four panel cockpit windows.

Not any other aircraft (except the OG 787 dreamliner my beloved.. also the dreamliner is a wide body soo...) has those 4 panels on the cockpit windows. So count them. If there are 6 than its probably not the a220. 😌

- 4 airbus A320 as we continue the trend of going out of order 😋

Iconic airbus plane. Instead of starting with the a318 ill start with the a320 bc there is a reason a a320 family is called the a320 family 😌

It has a cute little dolphin looking nose and is a narrowbody. It has only one pair of wheels on each side of the main landing gear. It also has that iconic airbus cockpit windows that are shaped like a box almost. All the other times you'll see this shape of cockpit windows it would be on a wide body i think.

Either way this is by far the most common airbus aircraft you'll see. All of these features are present on the rest of the a320 family. (A318, a319, and a321)

- 5 airbus a318 BABYBUS 🥹🥹🥹

CUTIEEEEE you can literally count the first section of windows on your hand if you have one extra finger specifically. So there are 6

Smallest on the airbus commercial aircraft lineup.. there was never ever an a318 NEO created so the engines will forever be tiny (sorry i forgot about the legendary A3 how could I forget... you should definitely search up the airbus A3 if you decided to read this)

Also there are only 1 singular window exit in the middle. The a320 has two and for the a319 you just gotta count the windows

Also... im pretty sure airfrance is one of the only airlines that still operate the BABYBUS so you will be most likely to see it in the airfrance livery :3

- 6 Airbus a319

In-between the a318 and a320 in size obviously.

But the a319 has wayy more windows at the front than the babybus while still having that one singular exit window in the middle as you see in that picture :3

- 7 airbus a321

Shes just a longer version of the a320 lol

But its wayyy easier to identify because it doesn't have an exit window in the middle but a freaking DOOR... 8 of them and 4 on each side :3

[Sidenote, if you want to figure out if each aircraft is a NEO... basically the newer version with better engines and more efficient and shit... just look at the freaking engines. They are noticeably bigger. They also usually have shark let's, or just bigger wingtips in a nutshell. And if you see the iconic airbus racoon mask (basically a black border around the cockpit windows painted in) aslong as it isnt the a350 then its DEFINITELY a neo.

Neo literally means "New engine option" while anything else is a CEO, or "current engine option" ]

- 8 airbus a330 BUTTER MACHINEeE

If you'd care to remember the last 7 airplanes i yapped about... the a330 is literally them but BIGGER. A wide body airbus aircraft :3

Also it has two pairs of wheels in each side of the main landing gear this time. And they also tilt up while landing... also why its called the butter machine because the tilted landing gear creates the CLEANEST and most SCRUMPTIOUS and SMOOTHEST looking landings EVER... we call that a butter😉🧈

Oh and whatever I said about NEOs and CEO versions in that sidenote? Apperently I forgot about the a330 because all of that is true for this one aswell.

- 9 airbus a340

Out of all the planes im gonna talk about this is the only one with only ONE floor and four engines

So yeah thats basically all.

You could even say this is basically the a330 but with four engines... but the larger varients of the a340 can get HUGE

So yeah. A340 and RIP because even LUFTANSA is retiring those... Lufthansa who said "yeah no ima keep these 747s while everyone else is retiring them" (i am NOT complaining... but neither am I GLAZING them like I've seen some others do for this)

- 10 airbus a350 😒😒😒

Clearly am not a fan of this plane for no justifiable reason. But its a pretty big wide body. Has some goofy shaped cockpit windows but you cant even see them because EVERY TIME you'll see this aircraft is will have thaf airbus racoon mask I was talking about earlier.

Also the nose is kinda pointy

The a350-900 has two pairs of wheels

Whilst the a350-1000 has 3 pairs of wheels on the main landing gear in each side

So the one on the picture is clearly a -900

I REBUKE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PIECE OF “LITERATURE”. Her writing style is great but that’s it. This is the most melodramatic, pretentious, dull, repetitive,stereotypical, contrived piece of fiction.

So basically, you are telling me that your gay character, who by the way is also disabled, exists only for the sole purpose to SUFFER? Mind you, I actually spent my precious time watching an interview with Hanya Yanagihara where she says “people can be so broken its best to let them die” and how patriarchy is harmful💀 On top of all, the fact that your ill-informed self just decided to do zero research on such specific group of individuals (gay men, disabled men and men battling mental health issues)is mind blowing. MOREfuckingOVER, writing about men because you think they aren’t as good as women when it comes to expressing emotions is a huge red flag. Ho is u ok? Like do u hate men? Do u hate queer men? Anyways, BACK TO THIS DAMN BOOK. It’s a never ending suffering and pain, an exaggerated and gross cruelty and sadistic hopelessness. Everything nasty that could happen actually happens- self harm, child rape (molestation and prostitution), suicide, poverty, being forced as a child by doctors to disclose STIs to future partners (because clearly child abuse means fuck all), your only friend taking advantage of you and raping you, the shitshow with the monks and monestry, the police, social services, doctors and teachers being portrayed as bloody incompetent, being discriminated as a baby because your “bronzed” skin in summer was perceived as being “too black”so no one would adopt you. AND JUST THE WHOLE TRAUMA DUMPING IN GENERAL.Not every book should have a happy ending but this was a never ending merciless storyline. The main character Jude is this puppet, created by Yanagihara(i hate her stupid name) to experience torture and total destruction of character, to suffer in very specific ways and u are just reading the writer’s morally dubious, cruel ways to make a man suffer. There are 0 meaningful and real compensations in his adult life and everything that happens is to prolong his miserable existence and this is just a really stupid book and i cant be asked to finish this post

Ok so I’m new here ( Beatles fandom ) and I’m just trying to learn as much as I can but once I think I feel like I’m getting a grip on things, I’m made very well aware that i don’t even know half of the lore with these boys. so would you be able to tell me where i can go to just deep dive learn about everything? The good, the bad , the ugly , the dark , ect

Idk if I’m the best person to ask bc my general approach to lore is just to learn through osmosis and have read exactly 0 (zero) Beatles books, but I’ll tell you how I went about it.

When I joined the fandom the main thing I did is just go through blogs I liked, (not even to learn stuff I just wanted to Look At more Stuff) which would inevitably have quotes and easily digestible shitposts about stuff which can give you a pretty good idea of lore even if it’s not the most accurate source. @amoralto is a wealth of sourced information which I often return to when I need to find something for a fic. @muzaktomyears also reads beatles books I have no interest in ever reading for myself and posts great quotes so that I won’t have to.

Also, you can always ask people! We’re all in this fandom bc we like talking about this stuff. Some of us may be more knowledgeable than others, but I’m sure if you pop into most people’s ask boxes and say like “I’m new here. What’s the deal with the divorce meeting?” they will be happy to either tell you themselves or point you in the direction of someone else who can.

The Beatles Bible is a good resource too. I use it a lot for the timeline feature (which isn’t perfect but is decent enough) but there’s also articles about basically everything (with quotes!) so it serves the same function as like a fandom wiki to me.

Lastly, I may be biased bc I’m a writer, but I always find the easiest way to learn lore for any fandom is simply by reading a bunch of fic lol. Maybe not the most historically accurate way, but if you go in knowing that there are artistic liberties everywhere you can start to pick up on common threads and events (fic was how I learned about the jp paris trip and the existence of Stuart sutcliffe, among other things).

Also, I will say, if you’re someone who likes going off and doing research, off you pop! Have fun! But if, like me when I joined the fandom, you’re simply trying get your bearings a bit, know that no one is expecting you to be a perfect Beatles historian. You are allowed to participate in the fandom even if you don’t know every little thing. And as I’ve said, you will pick it up as you go along!

I'm Estee Barnes. I'm a writer and self-taught traditional and digital artist. I love to make my own stories and worlds. I'm not so much of a fandom person, so there will be less fandom posting here. I still call my characters my OCs, even if the abbreviation has that fandom connotation. It's just easier.

So, if you've been here for a bit, you've probably realized what I'm about to say.

Main announcement

Humamtale is officially done.

This isn't because I got too busy or that something bad happened, it's simply due to a lack of passion on my part leading to me putting it off for too long.

Lesson learned

Humantale was very fun to make at first, but I set myself a bunch of unrealistic expectations that ultimately wasnt acheivable. This series worked as a huge learning tool for me, and I'll use what I learned for whatever my next functional webseries is, whenever that may be.

Unfinished arc

Since we were in the middle of an arc when I left, I may as well not leave the ending completely unfinisbed, so here's the gist of it:

Grett and Michelle would continue fighting for a little bit, Michelle eventually winning. She then uses a small device she was showed making to syphen some of Grett's purple soul, gaining it's defensive properties. Michelle would then use the blueprints she stole from cali way back when to build herself a mech suit, infusing some of grett's soul energy into it to make it more durable.

However, due to Grett's soul being tampered (a plotline that wasnt yet explored), Michelle's own soul was corrupted by the suit, making her start to go insane, causing her to violently head towards aphis from her hidden shack in snowdin.

Along the way, Marcus would try and fail to stop Michelle, prompting the Hazel to step in, using her magic to teleport herself to everyine relaying the information of Michelle's rampage. Grillby, who had been taking care of a tired Grett steps in (because nobody messes with his partner) and Cali suits aphis up with an upgraded body (which would be the equivalent to mtt neo).

Michelle makes her way tot he core where Grillby and Aphis meet up with her, having a big fight. The fight concludes with Michelle being defeated and her suit being destroyed, her sanity recovering and Grett's soul energy returning. Michelle is then imprisoned, ending that arc.

Futre of Humantale (this is the big one)

While it's very possible that I make a full timeline of Humantale's story, unseen arcs and characters and all, I cannot promise that, but as I also don't want these characters to comoletely fade, the entirety of my humantale au is FREE USE by the community. Any stories or AUs you'd want to use them in are A-ok. My main timeline will still be "cannon" if it ever comes out, but as it is now, the best thing to do is leave these characters in your hands.

My futre

Well, I don't want to stay 100% out of the webseries world, but I wont be doing so for a while. Besides, I got a certain project full of hijinx I'm going to be focusing on first. Humantale will still exist here, but I'm going to be revamping this tumblr to basically be my artist shitpost with a pinned link to the humantale masterpost.

And, well, that's it for now. This isn't goodbye, but it is somewhat the end of Humantale. But, if you follow me, there might be one last goodbye from the characters ; )
