An Eevee card render for @poketcg-art’s redraw event, in which I was a bit more focused on the GPU definition of draw than actually redrawing the art. Render made in Godot, card artwork and graphics made in Photoshop.

The amount of time spent on redrawing the actual artwork was way less than writing the custom lighting shader and trying to figure out why/how the real card’s holographic foil actually reflects light the way it does. (after some research I understand the physics principle of holographic foil, but… the mirroring stripeyness of this card in particular? no idea.)

That's what Price explicitly told soap before he went in. It was a crude operation. An illegal cage fight organization that was a front for making off the books deals. They had been monitoring an HVT for months, he comes around for one night every couple weeks. Intel says he's supposed to be here tonight.

And now soap's here. And it's been a long night. With more still ahead of him.

In the not so hindsight it wasn't so weird to send him in. He used to get into only too many fights before Ghost held his collar, and even more so before Price leashed him. He could spar Ghost on the mats for hours on end. So it was quite befitting to have him locked in a fight cage circling with beasts bigger than Ghost, and crowds louder than a circus.

As he circled a monster of a man broader than him, taller than him, meaner looking than him, he felt it almost reminiscent of the first time he met price. His hair too, longer than it should have been. Overconfident but with fire to spare. Only last time ended with a dislocated knee and fractured patella, and Price was telling him he'd take care of him if he could only pull his head out of his ass. And this time Price had let him off his leash as he sidestepped the blow that would have put him on the ground, and was swinging bloody fists into flesh. The bell dinged as his opponent fell.

His fists were bloody, his face was bleeding, his ribs were bruised, and sweat had his hair flopping on his forehead, but the crowd cheered louder as he leaned against the chains caging him in. And Ghost came up beside him as they cleaned his dome and went in search of another contestant.

"Price and Gaz have eyes on the HVT. How much you got left in you?" He didn't flinch when Ghost came up from his blindspot.

"How long do you need?" He muttered, not looking at the man.

"Make it an hour and I give you a reward. Hour and a half and I'll make it better."

Oh?

How soap did love a good treat.

"Break a glass when you want me to throw." It would pain him deep in his soul to throw the match, but probably not as much as the blow to take him out.

He had no idea how long I'd been, he'd stopped keeping track a long time ago. Stopped noticing faces. But he must've pummled half a dozen men, at some point between talking to Ghost and they following fight, he'd accrued a group of challengers.

He was facing a big bloke, but hardly the biggest. Long since had the burn set into his muscles, but adrenaline dulled his aches to the buzz of excitement.

A crash and a commotion outside the cage.

That's his cue. He threw a right hook, too it clow in the redraw. It was good contact, but hardly the best. His opponent feigned an obvious left and he compensated, but only just too slow. It rattled his brain, and disorientation made him too slow to block the blows to his ribs. He let himself go down after that.

The bell dinged, and he made no attempt to push the assists off him as they dragged him out of the cage.

Ghost took him under the shoulder, and helped him through the pulsing, dizzying crowd. People were touching him, screaming, slapping him on the back. He collected his spoils, but they needed to get out. They had the package, and he was going to crash soon.

His eye was starting to swell shut, blood smeared his face, his knuckles were split and ugly, his ribs, arms, legs were all turning with bruises. The adrenaline trickled from his system and the colors and sprains and breaks began to throb and ache. He let Ghost take more of his weight the further they got.

Redraw of a thing I did a little over a year ago now!

I think there's been improvements.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Argos has always given me witchy vibes and as someone mentioned before eons ago, (i think it was An-theduckin?) it probably has something to do with his little manifestations we see him do early on.

I'd love to see Argos do more stuff in that direction!

Love charms and little (mostly) innocuous spells and hexes that he experiments with (that inevitably go wrong)- and all the little pieces of Mr. Plant and his clothing he's collected over the days as a result!

And as I've also mentioned before, I absolutely see Argos getting into poisons and small remedies with all the plants he finds and learns about.

The man has so much witch potential. o vo

Also, do not fear for Mr. Plant.

He has consented to be Argos' little guinea pig for many of his magical experiments and he is at no risk for any lasting harm if any comes of it!

i did a little redraw just for this post for more fun

it was a year 2008, i was in the 5th grade sitting at home struggling of a chicken pox. and i decided to draw some winx fairies, so i found an image and decided to try and copy the artstyle. and this is children how my journey as an artist began 🥰✨

i also remember the second drawing, it was an enchantix Flora but i wasn’t able to find it :( so have a third one instead, T-posing Tecna asserting dominance and a little redraw 💜

there we also have a little later Tune and 2,5 girls

after a couple more drawings i decided that the original style is COPIED SUCCESSFULLY and i started STAMPING designs of fan-fairies (idk whose butt is on the first pic but i love it). these couple examples are just a little glimpse on a huge collection, a simple representation. but i remember having a lot of fun, like A LOT. i carried a thicc folder with me to every lesson at school and was drawing non-stop

and of course a winxsona

i was a fairy of weather, my two closest friends were a fairy of air and a fairy of rainbow, i figured three more oc’s and called us a proud name “WINX 2” (i’m wheezing, she didn’t even try). i had a little notebook where i wrote the “dairy” of our group studying in Alfea, described our adventures and hang outs, made a lot of self-insert fanart, ahhh what a time

it lasted like 3 years, then i become a teenager with more mature fandoms. and now i am a proud certified winx club artist and i owe my whole skill and my whole animation career to the silly childish passion for fairies with weird body proportions ❤️❤️❤️

To start, this is a redraw of one of the drawing I posted a while ago (mostly just scanning it in and like tracing over what I’d already drawn and making the chainsaw look more like a real chainsaw)

So here we have

Rose Lalonde and Kanaya Maryam

Some people think Rose has just a little too much fun collecting kishin eggs. Regardless, they are soso close to getting all their souls and forging Kanaya into a Death Scythe. All they need is a witches soul, but after the whole Vriska and Terezi mishap, they’re trying to be a bit more picky about who they go after.

Now obviously, Rose and Dave are siblings

They’re very competitive yet still very close. It’s not uncommon to see them trying to one up each other in any given little task.

Technically speaking, Rose CAN very well wield Dave as a Sword, just not for very long.

And here’s a picture of Kanaya the I drew based off Vampira and I really like but it doesn’t really have anything to add to the story.

P.S. sure the trolls can have their horns. It isn’t really relevant that they’re a different species technically and it probably won’t be brought up at all. I just think horns and weird ears are cool.

weird question maybe but isnt your art literally just painting over game screengrabs and photos?

Short answer: Nope

9 times out of 10, I create my own 3d poses with Daz for a reference image, then look at a dozen or so photo references for other elements, like specific faces or objects. For example, the following image was posed with Daz, then I found an image of a baseball bat, an image of Spaulding for the clown make-up, and an image of the two actors faces for the heads. Then the background was made using a variety of stamps and brushes from Ron's Apacolypse collection, available for download on deviant art. I guarantee you that you will not find this as a screen grab anywhere in the entire universe.

The following is another example of something that I created the reference using my own 3d posing with Daz models. again you will not find this anywhere as a screen grab.

From time to time I *do* end up doing a scene redraw or use a grab as reference, but there is a lot more that goes into it than simply painting on top of a picture. My poor arthritic hand can attest to that. If you spend 20+ hours on an image, you can get it looking pretty damned close to the original.

Hopefully that answers your question.

As an end note, I would just like to say that it is not cool to try and belittle someone's hard work and labor because you don't like the style, or whatever reason you had for that ask. Artists come from all backgrounds and skill levels, and whether the end product was drawn freehand with a pencil, or a photo that was chopily manipulated, it shouldn't matter. We artists love what we do and try to show it the best we can. I'm no Rembrandt or savant, but I'm proud of the little things that I do accomplish. Keep that in mind before you go trolling.

My next endevour is finally wrapping up a 14 pages story I first posted in 2023 but never got around finishing for semi-stupid reasons. CAPTAIN DAMAGE, my personal little legally distinct OC based on a favorite character of mine and my take on her. I want to finish both because I want to make an effort not to abandon stuff anymore, and because of the collection of my shorts I'm organizing. I think writing wise this is one of my funniest shorts, I love writing these characters, the snappy scenes etc, but in terms of the art, there was a lot I'm unhappy with. It's a good rule of thumb that you shouldn't waste time redrawing old stuff you made, because that becomes a neverending process, as you continously mature and improve as an artist, but there were just too many little things I hated about it. Here three big ones.

Missile kick, I liked the scene but I was profoundly unhappy with the way I drew her, the anatomy is all screwed up, the pose didn't convince me, it was all wonky and I regretted settling for it. New version, I cannot be sure the anatomy is THAT much better, but I'm happier with the overall momentum. I got a comment telling me the kick looks better because the power seems to be coming from the hips, so I'm glad it's working.

Evil alien ship approaching a planet, the original is an overt Star Wars reference, and I thought to myself "Why?" What's the point, thematically this has nothing to do with Star Wars, so I changed it up and went for a flying saucer look. While a lot of the stuff I do is often a parody of something, I try to avoid being overtly obvious with my reference, and I have a strict rule against mentioning memes or anything meme adjacent. I've changed dialogues and jokes when I saw people commenting with memes or stuff I didn't know about.

Spooky villain reveal shot. Eye is much bigger to mantain it consistent with how I'm drawing the guy in the new pages. On the teeth, first time around I was trying to do something weird and new, so I gave him bifurcated fangs, but now every time I see it, it just looks like he has braces on, so I went for something more conventional. Also, I bought a new fancy font to give the evil aliens some more spice to their dialogues. I love the trope of giving characters a differente "sounding" voice by changing fonts, or making letters and speech bubbles a different color.

They kinda look like two lesbians here. 2D is a street photographer located in Brooklyn with two cats who takes her laptop to a really bougie coffee shop to “work” which consists of scrolling Pinterest. Murdoc is a former weird girl who used to collect bugs in jars and has been to juvie but turned herself around after taking up an apprenticeship with a mechanic but she takes side jobs stealing back repossessed cars. They met at the army surplus store. They moved into 2D’s brownstone after a month and argue every night. They’re both in contact with their exes.

The Making of Ghosting - Jason Todd PMV

i made a series of instagram stories explaining how i made my Jason Todd Ghosting PMV, but i realised that it would be perfect as a tumblr post and i never made it into one! so im doing that now :) if you havent watched this, pretty please do! im soooo proud of it!

the original idea was an animatic or sketch pmv of jason todd to mother mother- ghosting. at first i just wanted to add ghosting as an overlay song to a jt fanart but i kept thinking about the lyrics and that they would make such!! a good!! animatic!!! but i was like nooo animatics are such a bitch do a drawing like normal. BUT THEN I WATCHED FURNITURE AND I WAS LIKE OH MY FUCKING GOD A PMV THATS GENIUS I WILL SCREAM

i made a canva board for all the references and inspo and stuff i might need, and listed things about Furniture that i liked!

i figured out which lyrics i wanted to use and where i wanted to cut them, asked my friend (@/arhan.deshpande on instagram!) to edit the audio for me, and brainstormed what visuals to have for each line!

i collected general references before realising i didnt have consistent red hood and jaybin designs, so i designed those

i picked a colour pallette and started drawing! and im sorry im not putting the individual things here cus i didnt put my signature on them directly lol. but some notes about each frame

1- I struggled a lot with his pose looking really stiff. I don’t think I fixed it really but I don’t think I can be bothered to change it.

2- At first I tried to have the lyrics be angled in the same way as the case and the plaque but it looked really weird so I didn’t do that.

3- Heavily inspired by the BM(1940)(AnY)#25 cover. I like it a lot.

4- I sincerely despise this shot and I hope that nobody looks at it too closely. I hate this. so much. Like with all my heart really.

5- I like this one! I did the angled text here that I failed to do for (2) and it looks nice. I’m also proud of the perspective I think.

6- This might be my favourite or second favourite shot. I did very good with the background and with Jason. I’m super proud of the hands.

7- I copy/pasted Jason from (6) and edited him for this. I struggled a bit with what to use for the Robin colours. Red stayed red, obviously, but I switched the green for dark grey on white and yellow for white. It was really annoying to try to figure his injuries out. I don’t think that part looks very good.

8- This is… boring? It’s not very special but it’s not the worst. The original concept was to have him walking over RJT’s body but that was an absolute pain to sketch, and I felt like I was overusing the drawing of him spreading his arms out, so I changed it to just be RHJ’s boots.

9- I am horrible awful at side profiles but because of the helmet this actually turned out pretty nice! I’m thinking of using this for the thumbnail maybe since it’s very clean and looks nice.

10- I actually delayed making this, so it was made after (13). I thought it was really boring, when I was looking at my sketches, and was planning on changing it, but I really couldn’t think of anything that fit to put here so yeah it is what it is. His jacket looks horrible in this…

11- This is practically a redraw of that one shot from UTRH (my beloved). I struggled a bit with what colours to use for the Joker. I ended up with his green being dark grey on white, his purple being dark grey, and his orange being red.

12- I kind of hate this. I hated it while I was planning it and I think it looks bad here too. The expression was a PITA to get even remotely right and the anatomy sucks. I used the bloodspray to cover up a lot.

13- This is a kind of boring shot and the anatomy is actually horrible but I think the bloodspread is pretty cool.

14- I LOVE this shot. I’m so proud of it. I think the gargoyle turned out amazing and Jason looks decent.

15- This is probably my favourite shot in this. It’s a redraw of that one shot from UTRH and I am super proud of it especially with the text.

16- I tried to make the lazarus pit look a bit more glow-ey but I couldn’t really figure out how to so I gave up and just made it like this instead. I couldn’t really be bothered to give Jason a face here.

17- This is… really bad. I like the knives I think they look decent but I’m horrible at drawing characters in hoods and I think it shows. The posing and anatomy is also really weird??? I think I was pretty lazy while making this shot.

18- This one is pretty simple but I already had it in mind that I wanted the hand to move up a bit so I was fine with that.

19- This is okay. It’s not special or interesting but it’s okay. Also around here I was really noticing that i could Not keep Jason’s jacket consistent for the life of me.

19.5- This is actually 19.5! I wasn’t planning on having a shot in between 19 and 20 but I realised that the transition was a little awkward with so many things different, so I added this shot. It’s more of splitting up 19 than adding an extra shot, though. I like the way it looks. I’m happy with adding “straight through” over Jason’s body I think that’s fun symbolism.

20- It’s basically 19.5 but with raised shoulders and tears. I also made RJT’s smile a little bigger! I didn’t want either of their faces to be clear for these shots and I think that came across pretty well maybe.

i made some miscallaneous (i cant spell) stuff like the opening frame, the ending frame, and a translucent signature-- then i made some covers/thumbnails and got some discord peeps to vote on which ones were coolest!

both of these got 5 votes so i used one for the youtube cover and one for the instagram cover!

I started saving all of my shots and their lyrics like this.

#.0 was the shot without any lyrics,

[a] was for the drawing with the background

[b] was for multiple lyrics to a transparent background

[c] was for single words to a transparent background

I did this for most of the shots, since I wasn’t sure how I wanted to edit them, but a few shots I only saved in one format if I had an idea of how to edit them.

At first, I tried editing using Adobe Premier Rush but it wasn’t working out because there were only fixed aspect ratios for that and the PMV was in a weird ratio. I considered downloading Premier Pro but that was massive and I was in a place with very little wifi at the time, using hotspot, so I couldnt. Finally I was reminded of Davinci Resolve, which I had worked with before, and it wasn’t too big so I downloaded it.

i edited it all together in a way that isnt very interesting for the purposes of this post-- remembered to make a shorter instagram version-- and voila!

Alright let’s talk about Lorelai(and other characters in the process)

I make no effort to hide the fact Lori is my favorite epithet character, even before prison of plastic I loved her design and vibe(and also shipped her with Bodie) so it’s no surprise that I come across a lot of Lorelai hate, and honestly I get it, but you’re all still wrong.

Is Lorelai incredibly hate-able throughout Prison of Plastic? Yes. Is she an irredeemable monster who deserves death? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She hasn’t killed anyone(intentionally), She’s 17 and a trauma victim, neglected by her only living parent and completely lacking social interaction(NOT HER FAULT)

Lorelai by the end of prison of plastic in addition to her villainy has shown a clear capacity to change and a slew of problems she needs to work through, and that is fine.

I could argue more about Lorelai as a character in herself but that would be missing the point, Lori is a mean villain, and that is fine.

Too many people these days, especially in fandom culture don’t see characters as characters, but as toys with personalities to set to vine redraws and incorrect quotes.

Not to say that anything is wrong with enjoying fandom work of characters, but that is not the character, that is the collective view of the character formed by fandoms, and characters like Lori don’t fit that mold. If Fandom is like a barbie doll set, then characters like Lori or Jax after episode 2 are weird fucked up barbies shoved in the corner. Lori and Jax are characters starting or in the middle of character arcs that seek to evolve them from jerks to decent or good people. The reason there was so much backlash against the two is because that doesn’t fit the fandom model, they aren’t funny mean or fabulous mean, they’re just mean.

But the best characters, the ones that define works and stick in the back of people’s heads are the ones who grow. People don’t like Lori because she’s a jerk to her sister, we like her because we see a part of ourselves in her and we hope that she can change for the better, we want to see Lori and Molly work things out and mend their traumas, but that’s gonna take time.

Change takes time and taking a snapshot of a character at their worst and demonizing them as unforgivable is just ignorant.

TL:DR Fandom Culture poisons the well of character discussion and creates backlash and vitriol against characters are going through certain arcs.

I would love to hear feedback on this from my fellow Lorelai fans and even those of you who hate her guts, communication is key and we shouldn’t be at each other’s throats in this fandom, especially one this small and close knit.

So I've been sitting on these for a WHILE trying to finish writing up the summary for this AU, but heck dangit! I'm just gonna start posting these! (Many more to come, both finished and in the works.)

This is for a RWBY x Amphibia crossover AU that I like to call, "The Girl Who Fell Through Amphibia," or just "RWBYia" for short. Basic premise as follows:

Instead of falling into the Ever After, characters from RWBY fall into a different world that the gods made after Remnant, a strange place called Amphibia. There are some historical and current event changes to both stories, mainly with Ozma ending up as the Core, with Ozpin as the king. Because, come on:

Anywho, I'm mainly redrawing screenshots for fun, but I also love reworking designs to fit alternate characters, like with the Core's suit, made to look more like Oscar's huntsman outfit.

More funky similarities between these two shows below, which I will absolutely be taking advantage of:

girl with main character syndrome accidentally winds up in another world very different from her own

the main character technically dies, meets "god" in a weird liminal space, has a conversation with said god, then is resurrected as herself again

two... birds... or bird/people... two characters who are birds

weird-ass moons

historically, the plot began with betrayal between two people who loved each other (romantically or platonically, whatever)

also, as the final straw before they completely separated, one of them stole something valuable from the other

ancient artifacts which each embody/symbolize something

the antagonist wants to use said artifacts for their plans (which ultimately involve world-level destruction) by bringing the artifacts together

the artifacts each have their own respective places which can only be accessed by certain people

the artifacts were granted to mortals by a god

the aforementioned collective consciousness is comprised of those with similar minds, which is how the current host was chosen

There is a little old woman with poor eyesight who can kick ass.

Bonus points if you can count how much of this is ALSO applicable to The Owl House (yes, I'm also working on a crossover for that). Bonus-bonus: In both RWBY and TOH, the two bird characters are also estranged siblings (who feel very different about following authority). Bonus-x3: In RWBY/TOH, the current state of the world is due to two major plot events: a tragic love story, and a mass extinction caused by gods.
