It's: "Insanity fills the will of my role"
Now Introducing the: Head Archivist
This is still being written. I'm trying to subtly allude to most if not all the fears in this song without it being obvious.
Taglist: @cameforstuff @greenbunny7 @bren-the-chicken @randomnerd737
Elias Bouchard:
[Spoken] And here, Jonathan Sims, is your archive.
[Door slams shut]
Jonathan Sims:
[Sung]
Why, oh why, is this place askew The previous Head Archivist Had one job to do
I have been placed in charge By Elias Bouchard
After Gertrude's death I stepped up to the mark Of getting things straight In this hell of a loft
Someone half decent could do this correct Gertrude, it seems, was less than equipped Wonderful, oh wonderful, that he chose me I'll get this place in order, just wait and see
Uploading these stories, although most of them fables, To the digital world, where then we're able To keep track and understand the less than quick People who submit tales of woe and object Insanity fills the will of my role
While some cases of supernatural activity Have place for credence and stability Most who submit a statement Are wrong in their suppositions

ok the thing about Daggerheart for me is that like, I do actually think it's useful to be able to articulate a lot of the classes in D&D-esque terms (which I'll do below, for fun) because that is the point of reference many people have. More generally that's why so much discussion of TTRPGs (and AP) gets really frustrating - people are trying so hard to push indie stuff (valid goal) that they can't, or won't, acknowledge the popular things people actually know about, and in doing so actively hurt their cause. I think saying "well you can't do THIS thing that you can do in D&D" or worse, "well it doesn't WORK like it does in D&D" as complaints aren't useful (the answer to the previous is keep playing D&D, and the answer to the second is yes, different systems are different) but comparison alone is very helpful!
Anyway a quick rundown:
Bard, unsurprisingly, equals bard. The Lore Knowledge portion is given a bit more emphasis in Daggerheart, which is nice. Overlaps in domains with Rogue and Wizard.
Druid, unsurprisingly, equals druid. Overlaps in domains with Ranger and Sorcerer. Layout for Beast Shape stat blocks is VASTLY superior in Daggerheart (ie, it's in the druid section and it's general categories).
Guardian is a nonmagical class in a system where almost everyone has magic user options, but while the core feature is similar to D&D rage, the flavoring is somewhat that of a paladin, which is great - really, it's best understood as "what if Yasha were the defining person for a whole class," or, in D&D terms, barbarian but based in conviction rather than raw emotion. Ultimately, a tank class that has elements of the two biggest D&D tank classes. Overlaps in domains with Seraph and Warrior.
Ranger equals ranger, but with the benefit of being able to spellcast from agility. The "half-casters" in Daggerheart are classes where you could technically go fully nonmagical; Ranger overlaps in domains with Druid and Warrior and you could go full Bone domain (Warrior side of things).
Rogue equals rogue, but is a half-caster by default. Overlaps in domains with Bard and Sorcerer; one subclass emphasizes the connections aspect (which I feel D&D rogue attempts to do but lacks the mechanics to do so) and one the stealth aspect.
Seraph splits the difference between cleric and paladin, with an emphasis on the magical aspect vs. the Guardian's nonmagical. Overlaps in domains with Guardian and Wizard.
Sorcerer is essentially sorcerer, but 1. more useful/heavier on utility (Daggerheart makes it outright hard to be pure DPS, which is why it is good) and 2. more focus on raw magic; only one subclass has a metamagic equivalent. Overlaps with Druid in terms of elemental magic (Arcana domain) and Rogue.
Warrior is a d&d fighter (the test class of Fighter in Daggerheart is closer to a D&D Monk), and especially a melee fighter, and is the other outright nonmagical class. Overlaps with Guardian and Ranger in domains.
Wizard equals wizard, and overlaps with Bard and Seraph; you can lean into being an expert in magic (which here is Codex; Arcana is more a term for raw/instinctual magic) or being a damage dealer, and also you have access to healing magic, which rules.

You've had many good takes on AI and copyright laws, so I was wondering if I could ask you about your views on plagiarism? I do know how generative AI works (it's not plagiarism). Also, I appreciate the stance that people shouldn't be able to own ideas (the basic foundation of anti-copyright beliefs), but if you don't own ideas, then doesn't that sort of make plagiarism a non-crime? That doesn't seem right to me. Or is it that credit =/= ownership and thus the two are separate things that can coexist where one is bad and the other is good?
Thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about something that I've been itching to talk about for a long time hehe. You're on the right track, my stance is EXACTLY that credit =/= ownership.
Copyright infringement is when you reproduce a work or part of a work in a way that was not authorized by its legal owner. It is a violation of ownership. Plagiarism is when you take work or part of a work that was created by the labor of someone else and present yourself as the creator. It is a violation of credit.
Since when it comes to intellectual works I respect the concept of credit but not the concept of ownership, I think plagiarism is universally bad in a way that copyright infringement is not.
I think part of the confusion around this topic comes from the fact that many people tend to conceptualize plagiarism as A Type Of copyright infringement (and afaik it is sometimes legally defined that way although I think that makes no sense for reasons I will explain in the next paragraph) because they often only encounter the term in relation to things that are both plagiarism AND copyright infringement at the same time (to name a high-profile example, what James Somerton did to other youtubers was BOTH plagiarism AND copyright infringement at the same time), so they end up mentally conflating the two terms, and consequently think that when people like me are defending copyright infringement we are also defending plagiarism.
But the way I see it, plagiarism and copyright infringement are two separate concepts. They sometimes overlap, but it's completely possible to have either one without the other. For example, if I were to grab a song from the public domain and claim that I wrote it, I would be committing plagiarism, since I would be claiming credit for work that I didn't make, but I wouldn't be committing copyright infringement, because no one owns the song. Conversely, if I were to burn copies of my CD collection and start selling them (or even just gifting them) to people, while correctly labelling them as the corresponding artist, I would be committing copyright infringement, since I would be copying and distributing the music without the legal owner's permission, but not plagiarism, since I'm not claiming credit for anything I didn't create myself. So at least to me it's an entirely coherent position to unconditionally defend copyright infringement without having that defense extend to plagiarism.
Causing further confusion between copyright infringement and plagiarism is the fact that a lot of people tend to unconsciously conflate the concepts of *creator* and *legal owner*, since they're not aware of how common it is in any professional creative industry for people to not be the legal owners of the stuff they create, and thus end up perceiving any violation of the ip holder's ownership as a violation of the creator's credit. The clearest example I can think of this was earlier this year when the Palworld devs were accused of plagiarizing designs from pokemon. I saw at least a few people say things along the line of "you might think they're sticking it to a big corporation but when they do this they're actually not stealing from nintendo or gamefreak, they're stealing from the hardworking artists who created those designs", which to me came off as completely ridiculous because none of those designs are in any way owned by the creators that made them, they're legally owned by the companies those artists work for.

Would there be changes to New Rome in the Perse Kronide au? Besides the addition of a new Olympian, obviously
Yes. For one, the legion and its praetors won't be teenagers. I never thought that made much sense anyway. While I understand the Percy Jackson series is young adult fiction, there really isn't an in-universe explanation for why Camp Jupiter skews young like there was for Camp Half-Blood aside from tradition, which isn't really an excuse for adults to let children fight their battles. So New Rome will be more real society with the legion at least sixteen and its leaders fifty or above. Same would go for New Athens and other associated Greek settlements, since they can also be expected to live into adulthood.
Oh and there would also be multiple Roman settlements across the western world like there is for the Greek. Rome itself, Iberia, France, England, California, the American South etc. Maybe some overlapping areas, like New Constantinople? Perseleia might manage to heal the Greek/Roman divide centuries before the modern age.
Side note, what does everyone think of Constance for Perse's Roman name? It works on two levels - constancy refers to faith and loyalty, while constant describes a property of time, so the name alludes to two of her domains.

Deity: Dispater, Lord of those Below
No Kings Beyond Death
A god of riches and horrors beneath the earth, protector and jailer of the departed souls, grim Dispater rules many realms with a stern hand and an iron will. Often cursed and seldom praised by mortals, it is this god's cosmic lot to keep order in the underworld, where the caverns of the mortal plane intersect with the labyrinths of the underdark and the shadowed halls of the dead.
While his worship overlaps with many other gods of death, few pray to Dispater as his heart is thought to be as cold and unmoving as stone, hardened by the grim work of keeping the domains to which psycopomps and other terminal forces deliver souls, ensuring that they neither have the chance to escape nor that they are picked off by fiends or other malign spirits.
Judges and other arbiters sometimes swear by him, especially when handling matters of life and death, as do miners, bankers, and others who work in precious metals or stones, as Dispater has a connection to caverns and other buried places. His clergy collects tribute in the form of those soft, perishable things that cannot be found below the earth: grain and livestock, flowers and wine. Their sacrifices of these things are said to pass on to the dead themselves, after their lord has taken his due tithe.
Adventure Hooks:
A monstrous bat haunts the countryside, endlessly harrying a graverobber who pilfered from a cemetery consecrated in Dispater's name. The exhausted scoundrel just so happens to have taken refuge in the same country inn as the party, passing himself off as a peddler who was shaken down by bandits. When the bat attacks that night (as he knows it will) he hopes to use the chaos to shift some of his plunder into the heroes' packs, diverting the creature and the divine wrath it represents.
Rumour is, if you find a trail of archaic coins scattered along the road, following it will lead you to one of the mysterious grey merchants, traders from the underworld who deal in memories and mementos cast off by the dead. Woe to anyone who attempts to harry or cheat the merchant though, as they travel under the protection of the lord below.
Shortly after a resurrection of a partymember (that may or may not have gone wrong), the heroes are approached by a dour devil in clerk's garb who insists that they need to follow her into the underworld to help clear up some post-mortality paperwork, or else their friend's soul might be held in litigation for a literal eternity. "Clearing up" in this case involves helping to clear out a field office somewhere in the shadowfell overtaken by the unquiet dead, fending off hostile spirits while the devil and the deceased do a lightninground of signatures on the relevant forms.
Behind the scenes: Hades has fascinated me since I started learning a mythology, and that fascination has only grown as I've traced the idea of him through history and popculture.
Like all the other Greek gods, Hades gets a roman makeover in Pluto; god of earth, the underworld, and wealth. One of his titles "Dis Pater" literally means " Father of Riches", as the earth contains both mineral wealth and the wealth of good harvests.
Because of his association with the underworld Pluto/Dis Pater starts to get adapted into emerging Christian Mythology as the devil, as his realm of of Tartarus (and its punishments reserved for the most wicked) likewise becomes Hell (which exists to torture anyone who sins and doesn't believe).
Fast forward about a millennia and a half and you have the creators of d&d making all the different names for the devil into a rogue's gallery of different fiends. With Dispater's connection to greek mythology completely forgotten he gets sectioned off as the extra schemey member of hell's boyband, at once brilliantly adept at making plans and driven mad with his own paranoia. While this makes him a little more interesting than some of the other devils, it just wasn't enough for me in the end, so a revamp had to ensue.
I wanted to take things full circle and use Dispater's name to bring my own Hades analog into my game's mythology, a god not of death but specifically the underworld, fully drawing on the connotations of both afterlife and underground. Playing with motifs of kingship and a "death and taxes" sort of legalism also makes for unique themes when it comes to the subjectmatter of mortality: Dispater as death is owed tribute by natural and divine law, but that relationship also grants protections to the tributary. Imagine a paladin of Dispater saving someone's life from unlawful execution because they are owed a righteous death.
Thanks as always to @5ecardaday for the monster stats

I've got this one idea that refuses to leave my mind (which I unfortunately will probably never write about). So I'll just leave it here and make it public domain - anyone can have it.
Soulmate Dream AU - in which both soulmates (repeat and emphasize on both) dream of a moment they will share in the future. Faces are blurred, and there is no way to be sure that someone is your soulmate - until that moment happens and the vision snaps back in full clarity, overlapping with the real scene in front of your eyes.
The catch? Hinata and Kageyama have their handshake right before the Jackal vs. Adler match as their soulmate moment. A professional volleyball court. A tall net separating the two sides. And beneath the net is a hand extending forward, grasped in a firm, determined grip.
Imagine an 11-year-old Hinata, who gets his dream the night he discovers the Little Giant and wants to play volleyball. He realizes that the path he wants to take is the very same one that will one day lead him to his soulmate. And so he throws himself into training throughout middle school, even though the conditions around him are lacking in every way. He meets Kageyama on the court of a middle school tournament, and beneath all the nerves and excitement, something screams at him to zero in on the setter in front of him.
Imagine a 14-year-old Kageyama, who gets his dream the night before their first meeting in middle school. He wakes up that day with the images of the dream fresh in his mind and his grandfather's words from when he was a child in his ears: someone even better will come and find you. He faces off against Hinata, and his subconscious whispers you may be my someone better while he screams "What have you been doing for the last three years?"
They meet again in Karasuno and begin to work together. The sense of something precious, something more is apparent in every freak quick, every impossible play in which they are so synchronized that it almost feels as if they were the extension of each other's will. Sendai City Gymnasium (which, unbeknownst to them, will become the Kamei Arena Sendai in which their vision takes place) gives them deja vu every time they set foot in it. Both of them have doubts, yet neither says anything for fear of being wrong, and also because they know that time would definitely tell.
They graduate and part ways with so many things left unsaid. They reunite on Hinata's debut match against Kageyama's team. And the dream snaps right in front of their eyes.

Dawnfather and Everlight THOUGHTS
Someone else's post made me think of this but I didn't want to accidentally commandeer it by tagging on. ...Plus I'm like, almost six months on the Downfall obsession.
I used to chalk up the similarities/overlap of domains between The Dawnfather and The Everlight (in campaign 1) as just a side-effect of Pathfinder's Sarenrae being incorporated into a D&D pantheon. That way, Ashley didn't have to change Pike's deity or backstory when the stream started.
When I watched campaign 1, I found it "convenient" for Vox Machina that the Dawnfather and Everlight had a shared/connected realm beyond the Divine Gate.
But NOW, in light of the Downfall story, these things are richly justified IN the world of Exandria, and I'm a sucker for that shit.
Ayden believes the "family" can be reunited right up to the end. He's the embodiment of that hope, coupled with a desire (or perhaps an oath) to protect. After Aeor, The Dawnfather becomes that stern figure we've seen throughout the campaigns. He had to let go of that last shred of hope (Ayden) in order to return to the Calamity conflict and agree to putting up the Divine Gate.
A self-imposed isolation, on the 'father' who's tried so hard to keep the family going? What torment that would be, yet it might protect the children of Exandria.
My memory may very well be faulty, but given their overlap in domains, I think in early CR it was stated that some of the Dawnfather's worship was shared with the Everlight. Most likely to make up for her absence of followers due to the Lord of the Hells. Protective, much like we saw with Ayden about Trist.
But NOW? We could say that the Dawnfather is also protecting himself, to a degree. The shared realm beyond the Divine Gate means that the two divine siblings are less isolated than the rest of their kin.
Metaphorically, they're opposite ends of town, while the other Primes are in different counties.
P.s. writing this without regularly falling back to 'Pelor' or 'Sarenrae' instead of the Exandrian names was a HELL of a challenge.

What are your top ten Greek Mythology headcanons?
Ooooh I have a lot of Greek mythology headcanons, so it took me a while to select the top ten 😅 But I've finally done it!
Here is the final list:
10. There is an Eurotas River "tradition" for all the couples in the Spartan royal family.
I like to think it's "tradition" for all members of the Spartan royal family to find the love of their lives at the Eurotas River (Lacedaemon & Sparta, Amyclas & Diomede, Hyacinthus & Apollo, Helen & Menelaus, etc.)
The idea came to me because of the role and presence of this river in Apollo and Hyacinthus' myth (Ovid's version) and Menelaus and Helen's story (Euripides' play). HyaPollo had frequent river dates and MeLen swore fidelity with one another by the same river, so it's fun to think that the other Spartan couples also meet and spend their time together here.
9. Persephone is everyone's childhood friend.
This is also true in the mythos! Persephone grew up with Athena and Artemis in Sicily, her domains overlapped with her other siblings, the Homeric hymn to Demeter has a list of her nymph friends, and every once in a while someone is said to be Persephone's playmate.
She's a true social butterfly lol
8. The second generation Olympians also share traits with their grandparents.
I love to think that the younger Olympians inherit something from their Titan grandparents, you know? Here are some of the ideas:
Ares is loving and protective over his children like Rhea.
Persephone is intimidating and wield her scythe like Kronos.
Hermes is crafty and cunning like his great-grandfather Iapetus.
Apollo has Coeus' deep, intelligent gaze and Artemis has Phoebe's radiant smile.
Athena is unconsciously attracted to the ocean, the kingdom of Oceanus and Tethys.
7. All of Zeus' children, mortal or immortal, inherit his fury.
They can be calm like Apollo or have anger issues like Heracles, but once a child of Zeus get really pissed off, their act of wrath can be as destructive as their father's.
This explains why Artemis shot down Coronis and her family and Persephone inflicted a plague on Thebes.
6. The second generation Olympians (plus Persephone and Aphrodite) love each other in their own ways.
I really dislike depictions of Olympian siblings always at each other's throat. Yes, their history is complicated and dynamics aren't perfect but that doesn't mean they only have bad tension! Where is the nuance in their relationship???
Artemis and Apollo have seen the worst of one another and ridiculed each other for that. But if someone were to talk crap about their twin, it's on sight.
Ares is torn between following his mother and accepting his illegitimate siblings. He had persecuted the twins before they were born but later joined them in the Trojan war.
Athena might be distant from others at times due to her personality and domains, but there are moments she enjoyed dancing and playing music with her siblings.
And Persephone's case is the worse. She might not be an Olympian and stays in Underworld for half a year, but she had never expressed hatred for her non-chthonic family. Let Persephone have good relationship with her upper world family, too!!!
5. Hyacinthus has purple eyes.
Or, in elaborative words, the eyes ever so gentle like flower petals drifting on a calm lake in early spring, hand-painted by the finest of brushes with a meticulous shade of softly vibrant purple that could not be easily sought out in the tapestry of nature.
Sorry for the sudden poetic wax XDDD
Basically, I want Hyacinthus to have pretty purple eyes as one of his signature traits. It makes him stand out from the crowd due to the "divinity" it brings to him (because of the forth headcanon)
4. Hyacinthus' mother is Clio, the Muse of History.
The second-popular parentage of Hyacinthus in the myths, but I have lots of ideas and interpretations with this mother and son relationship:
- The son of the history Muse dating the god of prophecy. Past and future intertwine!
- Their domain and attribute! We study history to learn from the past mistakes and avoid repeating them. The hyacinth flower represents forgiveness, and I like to think it includes self-forgiveness as well. So Clio being Hyacinthus' mother can symbolize accepting and learning from your mistakes to forgive yourself.
- Family angst! Clio knows every way something can go wrong and result in her son's tragic end. So throughout Hyacinthus' life, she will do her best to prevent all possible demises that can happen to him, only to still end up losing him.
- It will give Aphrodite another reason to aid Hyacinthus' resurrection. Since Aphrodite is the one cursing Clio to fall in love with a mortal man and have Hyacinthus, she might feel guilty later when Clio was grieving her son, so she decided to help the mother and son reunite as repentance.
3. Polyboea becomes a huntress of Artemis.
We actually don't have any clear indication that Polyboea became a huntress of Artemis in the myths, but hey, it's not a bad headcanon! Polyboea died a maiden, and Artemis was fond of her enough to help bring her back from death. So it wouldn't be a stretch of the goddess recruit her into the hunter pack.
I have a lot of ideas for a Polyboea-centric fic after she became a virgin huntress, just her journey in perfecting the art of archery, making friends with the other huntresses, and learning to be her own person than just "the youngest princess of Sparta".
2. Apollo and Hyacinthus raise children together.
This heacanon definitely didn't come to me after reading a certain fanfic series hehehe...
The title said all, I like to thing after Hyacinthus' deification, he and Apollo are happily "married" and raise a bunch of kids together, adopted or from another lover (and they may or may not have a child together). Those kids will have the best childhood!
1. Hyacinthus and Polyboea undergo many trials in the Underworld before being granted resurrection and immortality.
As much as I love Hyacinthus and want him to have a happy ending with his loved ones, he's a potential package for physiological and psychological torture :)
There isn't much that we know of about Hyacinthus' resurrection in the myths other than him and his sister, Polyboea, being taken to the Heavens by a parade of deities. But I don't think the Underworld will allow two of their residents to go easily, so Hades and Persephone must have given Hyacinthus and Polyboea a trial like they did to Orpheus and Eurydice, but it will be 1000x worse because love me some blood-choking angst :D
For what the Underworld trials are and how Hyacinthus and Polyboea overcome them, they are will remain for now as ideas and concepts in the making for my Hyapollo fanfic

Idk if the requests are open I'm so sorry, but if they are could I gently request a pitch black X reader where the reader is like a spirit or a guardian and how the two met or smt along that line?
It would be great. Have a great day
sure, here you go
Tumblr media
Pitch would be intrigued by your connection to the darker, quieter aspects of existence. Shadows and forgotten dreams overlap with his domain, leading to curiosity rather than immediate hostility.
Your paths could cross when your presence inadvertently goes close with his schemes, perhaps softening his nightmares or redirecting their impact.
Or you may or not may wanted to see his reactions to that-
Just imagine his face-hilarious. Just hilarious.
Pitch would be drawn to your quiet power, especially if you possess an otherworldly calmness. You might be one of the few who could challenge his worldview without provoking his anger.
There’s mutual respect rooted in your shared understanding of darkness, though your motivations differ. He might see you as a potential ally but could also feel threatened by your influence.
Like a cool dynamic of "i love my gf, but at the same time i'm absolutely terrified by her-"
Together, you could form an interesting balance—his shadows and your light working in tandem to maintain equilibrium, though it would often lead to conflict over ideals.
You often challenge his cynicism with gentle truths, making him pause to reflect (even if he doesn’t admit it).
Despite his initial hostility, he finds your presence oddly comforting, like a shadow cast on a moonlit night—dark, but not threatening.
You’re one of the few beings he finds himself opening up to, sharing fragments of his past and his bitterness toward the Guardians.
Pitch teases you by calling you overly idealistic, but there’s no malice in his tone. He secretly admires your ability to see hope where he sees despair.
You respond to his jabs with calm, often poetic quips that leave him either amused or irritated, depending on his mood.
Though he claims to be indifferent, Pitch becomes fiercely protective if you’re in danger, especially if another Guardian questions your motives or encroaches on your domain.
He may act nonchalant, but he’s quietly watchful, ensuring no harm befalls you while you work.
If anyone (Guardian or spirit) threatens you, his wrath is immediate and terrifying, though he’ll later brush it off as “practical.”
Over time, you inspire a softer side of him—he begins to question the totality of his approach, wondering if fear must always be destructive.
The two of you often sit in silence, a mutual understanding passing between you as you watch the interplay of light and shadow around you.
Despite these differences, you both recognize the necessity of each other’s existence. Light and darkness must coexist, and you are living proof of that.

The QSMP Dead 3 (Phil, BBH, Missa) & Their Differences
(BUCKLE UP ITS A HEADCANON POST WHERE I TRY TO SORT OUT THE REALLY CONFUSING DEATH LORE ON THE QSMP)
(I WATCH PHIL BUT NOT RELIGIOUSLY PLEASE ADD OR CORRECT INFO, CROWS)
(I’VE WATCHED SOME OF MISSA’S QSMP STREAMS BUT NOT ALL OF THEM, SO SAME THING APPLIES)
HERE WE GO
Philza:
- The Angel of Death (Not to be confused with Bad, who is a fallen Angel)
- Married to the Goddess of Death (Death in this case is referring to the Concept/Domain)
- NOT responsible for ferrying souls like a Reaper. His title is designated due to both his immortal status and deadly reputation, as well as his connection to the Goddess - similarly to how a queen might designate a knight.
- Immortal: He has higher survivability than Bad and seemingly puts a little more effort into his Days-Spent-Alive-In-A-Row streak (Past lives? Potentially a multi-dimensional being)
- Can commune well with most (if not all) gods and form semi-normal relationships with them as an equal.
- Cannot commune well with (or perhaps avoids talking to) the general dead. Despite not being able to see/hear dead people himself, he can pass the trait to his offspring as seen with Lullah. (It’s possible her power stems from both Phil and Bad. That’s what you call a whombo-combo. Sorry, Lullah.)
- Has no real connection to Bad as their duties do not usually overlap, but they are aware of each other. (AKA they are “coworkers” but Phil has no inherent authority over Bad. Their little office cubicles are on different floors.)
BadBoyHalo:
- The Grim Reaper (not to be confused with a regular Reaper - there is only one Grim Reaper working at a time) and a Fallen Angel, specifically (Thanatos?) one of the four biblical horsemen of the apocalypse/one of four angels trapped under the biblical Euphrates river.
- He is the “Death” horseman and can be referred to as “Death” but is not a death god. Rather his job led him to be associated with Death (the process/journey)
- Immortal: He can’t necessarily survive better but he will revive no matter what and cannot die the same way twice. (Past lives? Potentially a multi-dimensional being.) Despite not being as hardy as Phil, he may be older (although it’s difficult to quantify)
- Cannot commune well with gods and is seemingly not viewed as equal (although he has connections with the goddess Hecate - also a death goddess but not the death goddess. Hecate is more-so a goddess of crossroads - the transition between life and death. She may be his employer.)
- Can commune EXTREMELY well with the general dead (can potentially recognize and cultivate this ability in others - as seen with Dapper and Lullah)
- See the end for Grim Reaper/Reaper duties and differences
Missa:
- I don’t have much to go off here I’m gonna be honest. Him being a reaper isn’t even canon.
- That being said
- Missa is a Reaper, a normal one, of the Undead variety.
- NOT Immortal (at least not like Bad and Phil): As an Undead creature he cannot die of old age/sickness but can otherwise be slain so he has to be a bit more careful. He is not as unbothered by death/killing as Philza and BBH. He is also not nearly as old - the fact that they are so chill about each other is sometimes to his detriment.
- He cannot commune with any gods unless granted the ability by Phil or another power. He can communicate with the dead minimally but it’s kind of like if you tried to talk to a parrot (again, unless it’s being ‘translated’ by Bad or another power).
- Missa has necromantic magic, not enough inherent power to revive himself but enough to heal his own wounds and revive smaller things. (I know Bad ‘revived’ Missa’s mini-me for him but for the sake of Lore I’m gonna say Missa did that with his magic and Bad just kinda helped him focus it.)
- Missa and Bad, while both being Reapers, do not quite function with the same purpose and therefore Bad has no inherent authority over Missa. They are like two cats - even if one is bigger than the other they are still both cats. Also death doesn’t care about hierarchy.
- Missa actually does his job which is why he is frequently gone. Bad and Phil, on the other hand, are straight-up chilling. (Phil’s job doesn’t require him to go out collecting souls and Bad kinda doesn’t care. What are they gonna do, fire him?)
GRIM REAPER VS. REAPER DIFFERENCES
- Reapers are collectors and guides of souls in the afterlife - helping them make the journey from life to death. They cannot commune with souls they are not explicitly collecting, and do not choose who they do and don’t collect.
- Undead Reapers were mortals who were chosen in life and trained upon death to be Reapers. They are returned to life specifically for this purpose, and once dead cannot revive themselves - they can only come back if they are once again chosen and pulled back by an outside force.
- The Grim Reaper is also a collector and guide, however they can also foresee a living soul’s journey (as seen with Bad’s conversation with Pac) as well as alter it (Bad generally does this by Killing People). The Grim Reaper can commune with all souls regardless of circumstances and can also play favorites as long as balance is kept. Similarly, while the Grim Reaper cannot return souls that have already passed the crossroads, they can reach out to any soul they please, to talk to them or anchor them to a given realm.
- All Reapers frown upon upsetting the balance of death and life - however ‘balance’ can be left up to their discretion, for the most part. So sometimes emotions can cloud judgement.
- All Reapers are recruited as it is a job title and not a species. However, among undead reapers skulls are common adornments (as seen with Missa.) The Grim Reaper has a straight-up hood-and-scythe dress code. The employer of all Reapers is generally unknown although Hecates is a plausible suspect. The Grim Reaper still must train under the former Grim Reaper, just as a Reaper must train under another Reaper. Bad and Missa can train new Reapers, but Missa cannot choose who becomes a reaper, and Bad cannot choose who will be the next Grim. Bad can also help others if they are born with an affinity for the dead as he has plenty of souls on hand to practice with. Missa can do this as well, but he cannot summon souls to practice with, he can only use what he has available.

What about Artemis kids? I know it's not possible, but it's fun to think of ideas
I do think on a technicality you could have an Artemis kid - just either a demigod born or created of non-conventional means (like Athena kids), or I headcanon demigods/mortals blessed/adopted by deities in the PJO universe can get demigodly powers that way (which is my theory for why Jason can fly but Thalia seemingly can't, with it actually a blessing from Hera/Juno rather than a Zeus/Jupiter power since they both have domain over the skies but Hera/Juno focuses a bit more on the winds. And it's also basically just directly stated that's how Artemis' huntresses get their unique stuff, like enhanced archery, immortality, bond with the hunting animals, etc etc).
The only thing I have with a theoretical Artemis “kid” is how much overlap Artemis has with Apollo, since they’re twins and also both sky deities so they naturally share several domains and have a lot of overlap between others. There’s some aspects you can fiddle with that are different (Apollo kids definitely lean more into healing and have some more aspects tied to domestic animals and cities and stuff, whereas Artemis more focuses on the wild. Apollo has some aspects over seafaring while Artemis is more terrestrial, Artemis has links to magic/Hecate/chthonic deities while Apollo’s lean more into averting evil/oracular stuff and precognition, etc etc) so unless you really lean into those distinctions you can end up with just... basically a Dark Mode Apollo kid? Or basically just a Hecate kid (who Artemis is also heavily associated with, even to Hecate sometimes being a virgin goddess or Artemis/Diana being one-third of Hecate). So for me the idea of an Artemis kid has to rely very heavily on why they're differentiated from just an Apollo kid just a little to the left.
Relating to Hecate kids and Hecate sometimes being a virgin goddess though - Artemis rarely having something like the headcanon of most Hecate kids being created from rocks could be very fun. Maybe Artemis decided to take a page out of Hecate's book and turned a moon rock into a demigod just for funsies. Or turned an animal into a person. Or, again, maybe Artemis just decided to adopt a demigod.
If you wanna get real funky with it, you could also play around with the overlap between different deities and them being conflated/associated with one another and in canon being able to appear/be summoned in different forms of their different aspects. Maybe have an Artemis kid under a very specific branching aspect of her that's more closely aligned to like Hecate or Persephone or etc and play around with how confusing that'd be to both the kid and Artemis.

Yesterday, I wanted to say that people who blocked me did the wiser thing, but today, I want to touch on a recent issue, a hugely (intentionally) misinterpreted and degrading problem.
The controversies that people started to spread about me literally make me sick to the stomach.
They don't give a fuck about my countless explanations of how this ship is my comfort ship, designed to help me heal from severe abuse, self hatred, body dysmorphia, depression and anxiety.
I try to switch from unhealthy coping mechanisms to something that is both productive, helpful and most of all, harmless (because it's imaginary).
They felt the need to turn something that I created as my own personal fictive escape into a gross sadomasochistic, abusive and extremely toxic 'excuse' for 'why is this ship and not that?'. My guts twist for seeing such cruel assumptions when I have one thing that makes me happy (a story, a healthy narrative) viciously turned into a gruesome scenario that is not what it is at all.
The fact that they accuse me of shipping fair-skinned, blonde people is also the biggest hypocrisy that they could come up with when they themselves forget that Øystein's natural hair is blond and his eyes are blue in their own double-standard ship.
The fact that accuse me of romanticizing self-harm while they themselves 'like' (I have proofs) and approve art of EuroDead self-destructive romanticism shows their duplicitous and impostor nature. This is not to be taken as an insult, but an obvious fact concluded by their behavior.
My ship has little to do with physical looks and everything else to do with the in-depth psychology. It's not me, PlusVanity who says that there's a gigantic overlap between highly-autistic traits and trauma response (in personality disorders), it's Freud, Jung, Lacan's teachings and many other's scholars, neurologists and psychiatrists came to this conclusion many many years before you and I were even born. If you, dearly-opinionated friend, think that you can prove to these honorable psychoanalytical figures (and me, of course) otherwise with credible and well-documented research and not your 'I don't like that just because' synthetic opinion, I will gladly listen to what you have to bring up. I am well-versed in the philosophical and psychological domain, and I can provide solid arguments to everything I claim.
It's more than just unfair to point the finger at me, accusing me of a ludicrous sadomasochistic and 'subliminal racial element' in my art just to satisfy your late frustration with an ' good-enough explanation' for something that you never even bothered to look into because otherwise you would know that you are wrong. I'm not spiteful, I'm just pointing your flaws in logic as straightforwardly and inconsiderable as you seem to point mine, but it's not like you will actually try to understand what I'm saying because this must imply 'admitting defeat' and a kick in the ego, so you don't even bother with my transparent explanations. That's alright.
This message is for the people who are open and mature enough to read the motive behind my art and writing. This monologue is not for the ones who blindly accuse me of horrible things or a hidden agenda that I don't have or try to promote.
If you think that you know better than me, you simply don't. Why might that be? Because I am the author, because you don't think with my brain and you have no access to what I stand for, other than my words and actions and neither my words or actions stood for any type of abuse or political extremism.
You also put words into my mouth by calling me a fan of Varg, when I'm most certainly not, but I mean you hate me, of course you will say such things. Everyone who's following me knows that I not only hate Varg, but mock him daily for his spiteful persona.
I do not engage in any drama, I am not here to fight anyone.
I will only have civilized conversations (if openness exists). I am here to be and share with my friends the one thing that makes me happy. To subjugate me for simply having a different view than yours is tyranny and black and white extremism.
Pairing real people is morally bad, but this includes all real people. Not just Varg and Pelle, but Øystein and Pelle too. Doesn't sound fair now, does it? I understand why.
Anyone is free to believe anything, but a conspiratorial opinion will never compare to the ultimate truth that only the author can provide.
Please block me if you wish for. This is a far more mature approach than lurking here or sending hate. I hope this is constructive.
To sum it up, I'm beyond hate and ingoing frustration. I will gladly wish my late-proclaimed haters a wonderful day even if they roll their eyes. 🖤
You cannot change options, you can only provide your insight.
Be kind, be open, be alright 🖤
I wish this post can be shared so a lot of people can read this 🙏

Hello Chicken!!!
I'm planning on doing a little charm on a toy from my cats, because I'm going to travel for a while, so the idea would be that the toy is charmed to give them a feeling of love/happiness and comfort while I'm away (there will be people who loves them here with them but I am the favorite 💅)
So my idea was taking this little rat toy that has this hole you can open to put catnip and close. And then I would take some leaves of the catnip plant from my garden and ask the catnip to help my spell and give feelings of happiness/love to my cats. Then I would hold it and also empower with my own energy of love and comfort.
And to end I wanted to say a little charm before I seal by giving a kiss on the toy.
The problem I'm having is the writing of the charm. I'm trying to use this formart you teached in one of your posts :
"Name the influencing powers/energies. State what you want them to do. Describe how your will becomes manifest. Affirm that your will shall be done. Close/seal charm"
And my dificult here is in the part of naming the influencing powers. I'm still a beginner so I don't really have a particular deity or power I'm used to call. In your post you gave an example calling the sun and the moon. Do you think I could use that or should I look for something more especific to the intent of the spell? Like something related to love for example. This is a doubt I also have in other charms, like can sources more general like the sun be used for a bunch of different purposes or should I always look for something more especific?
Hello,
I believe in this case, the influencing powers would be the Catnip itself!
The Moon is often considered to be a good friend to witches and may be called upon generally - I don't know what astrologers would have to say about that.
Borrow some of my cosmology, if you like:
The physical plant matter we use is a correspondence. One way to frame this is that such-and-such ingredient of witchcraft is so harmonized with something else that it can become that thing.
Can become that thing, that's a pivotal word.
What things the plant corresponds with are usually taken to be concepts; love, joy, truth, suspicion, wealth, dreams, and so forth.
However, if this alone were true, then I think it would imply that the correspondences of witchcraft are empty vessels, like cookie-cutters, which can only function to shape external energy.
Therefore, Catnip has the shape of cat-joy-love, but in order for it to "work," it has to be filled with external power, just like a mold remains inert until resin is poured into it.
But I believe this is not true! Such a picture is incomplete.
Not only is Catnip so harmonized with cat-joy-love that it can become cat-joy-love, but Catnip also corresponds with other very important things: a wide variety of nature spirits and gods.
I believe that when you hold some physical plant matter, it corresponds with concepts (love, beauty, happiness) but also with:
the individual plant it was harvested from (the parent plant; your potted catnip)
land from which the parent plant grew
the archetype or grandparent spirit (Catnip)
*nearby spirits, gods, and powers with overlapping domains or interests (e.g., those powers also correspond with love, beauty, and happiness, and may be roused whenever these concepts are evoked)
(*This gets kind of loosey goosey so I shan't discuss it further)
What we're really after is the archetype or grandparent spirit, another word for which I believe is demigod.
There are many millions of gods, and Catnip is one of them. It's a living spirit of great power who rules over all of its children, both an active force of nature and well acquainted with the lives and needs of humankind.
It's not one of the Celestial Governers you necessarily need, nor a big fancy guy like Hera or Isis. It can be Catnip itself who is the power you call on.
And, we can also consider the fact of fitting power into vessels. An ill-fitting vessel can have trouble holding onto and pouring out desired powers, like trying to use a teapot to pour ketchup.
But Catnip corresponds perfectly to catnip; catnip is not only an extremely strong link to Catnip, but it's also the perfect vessel to hold Catnip. I defy you to find a better vessel for Catnip than catnip.
So when you say you're having trouble determining the best powers to call for what situations, I encourage you to look at what's sitting in front of you.
Fire fits well into candle-flame. Air and Smoke fit excellently into incense. Honey into honey, Basil into basil, Rice into rice, Money into money.
Many happy gods who love humans are sitting in the pantry, just the right size and shape to fall whole into our world with no edges snipped off just to make them fit.
And after all, why not call on them? They would not be in the pantry if they weren't fond of us.

What about you? What about the Warhammer Chaos gods interests you?
Alright, sorry for the late response, but here’s a point by point rundown on my thoughts on the various Chaos Gods and Chaos as a whole:
Khorne————————
The big man of Chaos and the one (besides Gork and Mork) that is benefiting and reveling the most from the constant battles and wars being waged throughout the franchise. In my opinion, the Lord of Blood’s main appeal to me is his simplicity. He knows what he wants and what he expects of his followers, and while at face value this makes him seem like little else than a blunt instrument, just how raw and utterly human the sensation of overwhelming and all consuming anger is both terrifying and compelling, especially in how it plays into and with Khorne also focusing on a traditional, albeit heavily blood soaked, concept of honor.
Tzeentch—————————
Ah yes, the Changer of Ways, Tzeentch is a tricky one on practically all levels. I will admit Tzeentch isn’t a personal favorite of mine, but I am a big fan of how the various domains he covers overlap and interact, such as showing the dual nature of desiring change which isn’t intrinsically good or bad, the danger of recklessly seeking knowledge, and not to mention the blinding effect unchecked ambition has on people. I can honestly get behind Tzeentch, his followers, and the nebulous, ever changing goals on paper, but the fact there isn’t much in the way of defined parameters regarding what Tzeentch draws power from is a bit of a turnoff.
Nurgle———————
Now we come upon my undisputed favorite amongst the Chaos pantheon. Grandfather Nurgle has a rather personal place in my heart as ever since I was young I’ve struggled with anxiety and fears regarding matters of death, pain, filth, sickness, and feelings of depression. See, when I first got into the Warhammer franchise, I found myself drawn to the Plaguelord and his followers as I felt strangely seen in them.
As for in-universe reasons, I find the paradoxical nature of Nurgle and his followers very intriguing. How this god of death also holds dominion over a twisted form of life. How he expresses his own twisted brand of love by “blessing” whole worlds with nightmarish blights. How his acolytes are all twisted & diseased pseudo corpses that are free of pain & fear of death as they shamble forward across the battlefield. I suppose the best way I can describe my feelings for Nurgle and his grandkids is that I find them sickeningly sweet.
Slaanesh——————
Okay, so I’ll admit Slaanesh honestly unnerves me as someone with obsessive tendencies. Aside from the more… obvious aspects of She Who Thirsts and her followers, what always interested me regarding Slaanesh was the personal connection and enmity it has with the Elvish/Aeldari factions. I will say, I do have one major gripe with how the Slaanesh faction is presented almost strictly in a carnal manner in WH40k and wish they would take more from the more widespread concepts of obsession and overindulgence they have been using in Age of Sigmar.
Malal/Malice———————————
Ah yes, the oft forgotten son of Chaos (and Games Workshop). I don’t have much else to say other than I find the overall aesthetic and concept of a faction that embodies the tendency of Chaos to turn inwards and self destruct to be absolutely phenomenal. 11/11, I really wish we would get more regarding this infrequently mentioned and not completely canon Chaos god and faction.
The Horned Rat—————————————
He’s the self serving god of a race of psychotic rat-men hooked on radioactive moon cheese that literally feeds on desperation and desires little else than to despoil literally everything, which led to him just inserting himself into the empty space left in the Chaos pantheon by Slaanesh’s imprisonment. What’s not to love about him and his manic followers in all the different and innovative ways they manage to manifest their depravity?
Hashut/Vashtorr————
Alright, I’ll admit I don’t have a whole lot to say about Hashut, but I thought I’d discuss these two together given their whole focus on the evils born of unchecked innovation and industrialism. Now, I will say I do find Hashut managing to corrupt and radicalize a whole group of dwarfs into their own subfaction with the promise of better materials/conditions to work with and the ability to wield conventional magic (albeit at a price) rather impressive, having basically carved out his own niche separate from the Primordial Four.
As for Vashtorr, I’m really interested in how the story regarding his quest to become a Fifth Chaos god will unfold, especially given how he’s aligned with the Black Legion, and while its clear that someone is going to get screwed over in that particular partnership, especially since it’s currently unclear who the unlucky party is going to be when that time comes. I also find it very interesting how Vashtorr more or less takes the opposite route of Hashut and instead has ingratiated himself to the Primordial Four via the manufacturing of Daemon Engines, while also being mostly untouchable in the greater scope of the Great Game.
Misc. Other Chaos Gods—
There isn’t much to say about the other Chaos gods as they are either yet to manifest or non-canon. I will say the idea of the Emperor of Mankind being a likely candidate of becoming the Fifth Chaos god is something I absolutely love and wish was more fleshed out aside from the rare references to the Dark King and the Star Child. I mean, common, it’s just so poetic that the man that spent thousands upon thousands of years busting his hump trying to elevate humanity and protect them from the forces of Chaos becoming just like the very beings he sought to starve and extinguish with his Imperial Truth and possibly condemning mankind, if not the entirety of existence, just like Slaanesh condemned the Aeldari. I get it’s something on such a massive scale that it’s just not feasible to properly tackle without massive effort on Games Workshop’s part, but it’s still something fascinating to explore.
Also, shout-out to the non-canon Necoho the Doubter and Zuvassin the Undoer for literally being the Renegade Chaos gods of atheism and plans going awry respectively.
Chaos Undivided—————
I suppose to answer the question of what draws me to Chaos is the fact it’s a dark mirror of the rawest, truest parts of humanity. It’s a corruptive force literally born from the minds of mortals and true to human nature, people try to rationalize it, direct it, wield it, only to invariably fail and fall deeper into its clutches. Chaos comes in so many forms and in some there are shades of good, yet it’s all clouded by the horrors it brings. It’s like an exploration of the human condition and yet, at the same time Chaos is in a way a literal man made hell, and that fact just fascinates me on a near morbid level.
I’m sorry that this was such a long read, but I hope this answered your question.

PJO ROMAN DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: ⚡ JUPITER/JOVE: KING OF THE GODS, GOD OF (DIURNAL) THUNDER AND THE SKY⚡
Author’s Note: Alright, when I was writing the Greek demigods h/cs, I did keep in mind some of them and their Roman counterparts (i.e. Hera demigod), so when that one anon asked about doing Roman demigods, I got curious and this is my attempt. I do understand why there isn’t a lot but I gave it a shot. It’s not going to be the same for the Greek version and it’s not going to be very detailed since Camp Jupiter and New Rome is more limited than the Greeks, and there are some overlaps between the two, so that’s why. Hope you like it and enjoy! ROMAN DEMIGODS H/CS MASTERLIST LINKS: [TUMBLR] // [AO3]
You’re going to be held in high regard since your godly father is Jupiter Jove himself. The King of the gods, chief deity of the Roman state, Central member of the Archaic Triad, Capitoline Triad; guardian of the state with Juno and Minerva, and the Dii Consentes. You’re respected based on the premise that Jupiter is basically head honcho of the Roman state. However, this brings a lot of pressure as people expect you to be a leader and be just like Jupiter, and be the embodiment of Roman values.
You’re probably either more composed or learn how to be more composed with your emotions and actions; not only reflecting how the Roman gods are more strict, disciplined, responsible, and calm; but because of your environment. You’re the child of Jupiter so they automatically look to you as a figure of leadership which means they’re always watching you.
In terms of power, between Greek and Roman demigods, I have this idea that Greek demigods have more broad and abstract range while Roman demigods have a more limited yet technical use with more accuracy. So compared to a child of Zeus whose powers have lightning and thunder which means general electrokinesis; as a child of Jupiter your powers are more refined, so you can pull off more tricks and technical control. Hey, that means you can fly more in a barrel roll, breaking the sound barrier while the children of Zeus can just generally fly.
Another power as a child of Jupiter may have is light based powers; based on one of Jupiter’s epithet as Jupiter Lucetius (Of the Light) where he was esteemed as purveyor of the universe. It makes sense if you consider lightning having the word ‘light’ and lightning does produce ‘light’, so unlike a child of Apollo, your light is more lightning in nature then the rays of the sun.
On a more not so serious note, you find yourself saying “By Jove!” more often than not; not only as a sign of exclamation of surprise or emphasis, but also because Jupiter is also called Jove, so you’re basically required to say something like “my god! or “good god”.  Then again, everyone else says that, aside from “by gods” or some variation of it, so you’re constantly on edge or wincing because they’re basically yelling “Your Dad!”
I have a feeling that the people of Rome see the Gods more as figures while the Greek see the gods as representation of their domains. So you’re going to be seen as either Jupiter himself or the representation of Roman values and rites; which makes you being pushed into the head of politics, management, and the such.
Following above, it feels like a very high school drama; where you’re the Prom Monarchy, the popular kid. I mention about the pressure but it also extends to your social life; there’s going to be unspoken and spoken words of who you should be hanging out with, who not to associate with and whatnot. In terms of your love life, like Jason and Reyna being expected to be together romantically, you also have the same treatment. Either it’s someone of your station or above it, in terms of respect to your parentage, and so forth.
In terms of demigods or legacies, you’re often pushed together with a child of Venus, due to Venus being the ancestor of the Roman people through her son Aeneas who survived the fall of Troy and fled to what is now Italy, and Julius Caesar as well. And when there’s news of a child of Hera/Juno? Oh Jove.
If it’s a child of Hera, all of the senate immediately begins to plan a political debate on how you and the child of Hera get together, or should they send a word of decree or plan a war to seize them. If it’s a child of Juno, I’m so sorry but you’re definitely forced to be with them because the two of you are the living representation and figures for the people of Rome, and the two of you existence together is a sign from the gods.
Despite this all, what Cohort you get into will depend on the reference letters and your honours. Just because you’re a child of Jupiter, doesn’t mean you’re exempt from placement. Much like Jason Grace, if you’re not put into the 1st cohort, expect a ton of criticism. Unlike being a child of Zeus, you have less freedom of existing with every aspect of Jupiter and his associations being placed upon you.
If you’re a legacy of Jupiter, which is more likely then not, you’re not that entirely unexempt from the same problems nor benefits then a direct blood of Jupiter. Maybe less so or not, but the pressure is still there. Of course, with being a legacy, your powers and aspects you have with Jupiter become more individualistic and specific, but nonetheless, the powers that you do have are very strong.

More RGU/FR parallels while I’m fixated on this connection (and while I’m working on the next deep dive entryy sorry it’s coming I promise, just been very busy lately):
(11) Manga/manhwa is less gay than the anime/drama. Actually I still haven’t read the FR webtoon but from what I’ve heard, and based on the author’s own comments about Jae-yi and Seul-gi, I’m not really interested.
(12) Both accused of queerbaiting by people allergic to subtext and context. (sorry did not mean to make this a call-out post)
(13) Everyone is traumatized and had a nightmarish childhood. Ye-ri and Gyeong would fit right in at Ohtori Academy.
(14) No good adults. Okay actually FR has one, Seul-gi’s stepmom. RGU has...ummmmmm...Tokiko...?
(15) Tae-joon and Akio are, like, almost the same guy. Outwardly charming abusive manipulators who like to play god, and the most powerful person in each of their respective domains. Both rotted from within by their cynical worldviews. Both indoctrincate children and pit them against each other in their sicko games.
(16) The relationship between Jae-yi and her dad is eerily similar to Anthy and Akio (minus the sexual abuse thank god). Tae-joon’s only attachment is to his idea of Jae-yi as the perfect daughter, his little Frankenstein creation. Without her, his life has no meaning. Likewise, without Anthy to play his puppet, Akio is an empty shell. Anthy is like Akio in some ways, just as Jae-yi resembles her father, but Anthy and Jae-yi are both made that way by the abuse they’ve suffered—and despite everything they’ve endured, they still have the capacity to love.
(17) Seul-gi doesn’t save Jae-yi, but inspires her to save herself and keep living. Extremely utenanthy coded.
(18) RGU and FR are both completely new experiences on a second watch when you know where the story is going, and you pretty much have to watch them at least twice to pick up on everything. Trying to decode Anthy’s/Jae-yi’s actions and intentions in each scene adds a whole extra layer of mystery.
(19) Wait wait wait. Seul-gi wears a different school uniform from everyone else?? Okay it’s only on like the first day of school but still.
(20) Queer love is the key to escaping abusive systems of power.
There’s a lot of stylistic overlap too, like the way both series use symbolism and formalist techniques to visualize the characters’ emotional states. I doubt anyone who worked on FR was directly inspired by RGU, but nonetheless there is some powerful synergy between these stories.
