Just mapping up who I consider most ideal rivals or nemeses for Shadow the Hedgehog on a "compass" for comparisons or contrasts. Sonic and Black Doom share an axis for more story-based reasons, while Silver and Mephiles are along a line for more superficial reasons.

Of course I don't need to explain why Sonic's here, but since he's the most recurring rival to Shadow from the side of good, I also want to consider a rival just as significant among the villains. Black Doom may have only appeared in two games so far, but he's the main antagonist of both Shadow's own game and his Generations lane, and integral to Shadow's creation. I choose to view Black Doom to Shadow what Eggman is to Sonic.

But from a more visual perspective, I wish Mephiles could've remained as Shadow's archnemesis, or at least like what Metal Sonic is to Sonic (which is also scarcer than I'd like). It's a tall order considering what (un)happened in Sonic 06, but let's just say Shadow Generations still gives me a ton of hope. In addition to my own Mephiles bias, I reiterate that I want Shadow vs Mephiles to recur just as I want Sonic and Metal Sonic to be each other's archrivals, an "evil twin" for each.

I also have Silver on the same axis as Mephiles since he's also a candidate for design reasons rather than story. I don't remember how Shadow and Silver's reactions went in the Sonic Rivals games, but they only had one fight in 06. However, Silver's colors invert Shadow's, an even more direct contrast than Sonic's. White vs black, turquoise vs red. That reason alone makes me want them to compete more often.

This panel is part of another elemental character collection I'm working on but I feel great about how it came out so I wanted to share this one individually first. These are OCs for my own AU of Project SEKAI: Colorful Stage. They're the future children I envision of Rui Kamishiro and Mafuyu Asahina, a pair of twin magicians named Kyoka and Kemori.

Kyoka Kamishiro DOB: "December 35" ;)

The daughter and first twin. Like her mother, Kyoka can put on a "good-girl image", one that's polite, courteous, and professional. She is very perceptive of others and knows exactly what to say to people to get on their good graces. However, underneath that image is the "mad scientist" or unbridled academic curiosity she inherits from Rui.

With psychology being one of her stronger subjects, Kyoka likes to sweet-talk and worm her way into people's hearts in order to learn what makes them tick. Her curiosity and experimentations also extend to the stage performances as well, sharing her father's zeal for wild ideas (even though it's her brother who more frequently executes them).

Kemori Kamishiro DOB: January 4

The son and second twin. Kemori's dark demeanor takes after the gloomier persona Mafuyu exhibited in the canon, but he's much more blunt, candid, and straightforward with his thoughts and feelings. But for however open he is verbally, his actions are much less predictable; Kemori tends to pull off outrageous stunts and experiments quickly and without warning.

By his own admission, Kemori wants everything to his drums (as opposed to anyone else's) and will leverage anything to make that possible, either in his engineering pursuits or on the stage. However, he'll be more cooperative and subordinate if someone he respects is on the higher ground.

Overall On the surface, the twins may exhibit different sides of Mafuyu, but at their core, they both take after Rui's eccentricities, but with a slightly darker spin. Wherever they can, they'll also incorporate their expertise in science and technology into their stage illusions.

In short, they combine the wonders that Rui could contribute to WxS with the element of mystery that Mafuyu shared with N25.

Behold the three Caucasian God Cards!!!! *cough*

Jokes aside I felt like matching RADder with these God Cards because their dynamic reminded me quite a bit of their showings in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime.

Ken and Taiga's were most based on who used them in the show, but Nagi is assigned to Ra because (1) both seemed to be the most out-of-reach or inaccessible to the main characters and (2) just as the Winged Dragon was given more regard than the other two, RAD Weekend centered primarily around Nagi.

As for the other two, as An's father, Ken's as close to Vivid BAD SQUAD as you can get, so I felt comfortable enough giving him the card Yugi and Atem held the longest. In contrast, Taiga's the one member of the three who doesn't want to be surpassed by the next gen and might just become their rival, so I'll give him Kaiba's God Card.

Silver: Aurora and Phillip's Bond (Chapter 7 Spoiler Warning!)

By now Chapter 7 has confirmed all of Silver's links to Princess Aurora; Fairy gifts, origin stories, and other details--basically every fan speculation. My own theories about him, however, have always included both Aurora and Phillip, since he has key similarities to both. For the latter, there's the obvious sword emblem and his mirror foil to Malleus. Just as Silver's father had done against Maleanor, it's easy enough to imagine Phillip vs Maleficent being mirrored onto Silver vs Malleus (albeit with more help).

But to reiterate, I see both Aurora and Phillip in Silver. If it's too lazy or a stretch to base a TWST character on more than one inspiration, I want to single it down to the royal couple's bond. The most direct corroboration is Silver's Unique Magic: "Meet in a Dream", for the song it's based on is sung by both Aurora and Phillip. If basing his signature on their blooming romance isn't enough, there's another dynamic between the two that interests me more...

...namely, the fact that Phillip springs into action shortly after Aurora is put to sleep. And when Malleus put everyone to sleep including Silver, the latter's own abilities (or blessings) kept him awake enough to take action. In other words, I can interpret Silver being more like Aurora in the real world and more like Phillip in the dreams. (I want to say some of Silver's earlier vignettes hint or allude to this dynamic as well, but it's only my interpretation.)

All that said, my original hope before the majority of Book 7 was for Silver to be "Phillip and Aurora's son/descendant" which would've supported my current insight more directly but alas. I also would've been convinced that his father--the Dawn Knight--is based on Prince Phillip if his mother wasn't named straight after Queen Leah (I'm just not warm on husband and wife being reincarnated from mother-and-son-in-laws).

Nevertheless, until the remainder of Book 7 convinces me otherwise, I'm settling on Silver representing Aurora and Phillip's bond.
