The Serpent’s Lock
The seal of protection, privacy and invisibility – can be stamped or marked on documents to protect them from prying eyes, lest the witches’ venom befall them. Can also be used to hide oneself from that which walks on the astral plane.
The Serpent’s Key
Used to see that which is hidden – aiding in the perception of the Unseen: be it spirits, deities, omens, etc. It might also be employed to find lost or hidden objects, and expose secret truths people are hiding. In addition, it can also be used to reverse the Serpent’s Lock if the key is added.

Wards
What are wards?
Wards are energetic barriers around a space, such as a room or a house. They are barriers that you set the perimeters and rules of. You decide what can cross those barriers, and what cannot. They also use energy to sustain them, which is very draining if you're only using your energy.
How do you create wards?
Two very important details when creating wards are: What can cross the barrier, or the rules, and what will power the wards. In my most recent wards, I have a very simple set up for the rules. No uninvited spirit or energy can enter, once invited they are welcome any time, and if I tell them to leave they cannot enter unless invited again. I use crystals to help provide energy for the wards, and I recharge them every full moon.
Below are 2 different methods for creating wards, and a recharging method for both of them.
Method 1 - Crystals and Visualization
First, decide the rules of your wards. Who and what is allowed to cross the barrier? Is this just to keep beings with negative intentions out? If there are specific spirits or energies you are trying to keep out, make note of that. Be as specific as you can. Write your rules down on a piece of paper.
Next, place a small piece of hematite in each corner of the room.
Sit down on the floor anywhere in the room. Hold another crystal in your hands. Clear quartz or some type of calcite are good for this because they are easy to find, and also act as an energy filter.
Visualize a light of energy coming from your hands and going in to the crystal. Then, visualize that energy connecting to the 4 smaller crystals, creating a sort of pyramid shape of energy lines.
Visualize those energy lines expanding and forming a bubble around the room, above and below it.
Say the rules you created for your wards while still visualizing the energy bubble. You can say these out loud or in your head.
Finally, place the paper you wrote with the rules of your wards underneath the crystal you held in your hands. This can be anywhere in the room.
Method 2 - Without Visualization
This is very similar to the first method, just replacing the visualization with feeling energy. I actually like to mix these two methods together when I create my wards.
First, decide the rules of your wards. Be as specific as you can. Write these down on a piece of paper.
Next, place a small piece of hematite in each corner of the room.
Then, sit down on the floor anywhere in the room. Hold another crystal in your hands. Clear quartz or some type of calcite are good for this because they are easy to find, and also act as an energy filter.
Imagine that your hands and the crystal between them are getting warm.
Feel the energy expanding, and the warmth surrounding you now.
Say the rules you created for your wards. You can say them out loud or in your head.
Finally, place the piece of paper you wrote the rules on under the crystal you held in your hands
Recharging Wards with The Full Moon - Visualization
Since wards need energy to sustain them, they also need recharged occasionally. The full moon is a great time todo this. Another good time is on the event of any celestial occurrences, such as eclipses, planetary alignments, etc.
Have a seat on the floor anywhere inside the room, holding the same crystal you used to create the wards originally.
Visualize the full moon in the sky above you. See the energy of the moon flowing into the crystal in your hands.
Visualize energy lines connecting the crystals, and then expanding into an energy bubble surrounding the room once again.
Say the rules of your wards.
Finally, place the crystal back where you had it.
Recharging Wards with The Full Moon - Without Visualization
Sit on the floor, anywhere in the room, and hold the crystal you used originally in your hands.
Feel the cool energy of the moon reaching the crystal, making both the crystal and your hands cold.
Feel that energy expanding, surrounding you and the room.
Say the rules of your wards.
Finally, place the crystal back where you had it.

Amulets vs. Talismans
Tumblr media
Both Talismans and Amulets are magickal objects that are small in nature, therefore making them conspicuous and able to be worn or carried without arousing suspicion. Often, they will be pieces of jewellery suitable for everyday wear or objects that can be discreetly carried on your person.
1. Amulet: provides protection from danger and harm.
2. Talisman: attracts a particular benefit to the wearer/carrier.
AMULETS:
The general consensus is that Amulets provide protection against bad luck, illness, and evil. They may do this in a general sense, or serve a more specific protective purpose.
The most common form of Amulet to be found, are necklaces and pendants as they can be worn daily without raising alarm, and it is believed by some that the closer to the body an Amulet is worn, the more powerful its effects will be.
Some potential Amulets include: gems and crystals, stones, figurines (people, deities, animals, mythological creatures); diagrams; bones; plants, and words.
TALISMANS:
Talismans are, like Amulets, items that hold magickal power.
There is debate over what the exact differences between Amulets and Talismans are, and it will vary between sources as to what you read or see.
In general, Talismans are said to draw things to the wearer/carrier, instead of have a passive protective effect and their magick is specific and not generalised; by this, I mean that unlike Amulets that can just serve general protective purposes, Talismans are used to attract specific benefits tat are determined by their design. They can also be charged to increase their power.
Talismans are more complicated than Amulets in appearance; Amulets can simply be a crystal hung on a leather throng that you wear around your neck, whereas Talismans tend to have symbols, figures or incantations carved or engraved onto them in colours that correspond to the intended benefit you wish to bring upon yourself.
When it comes to having your Talisman on your person, it is much more common for the item to be something you can carry in your purse, pockets or bad than something you’d wear. They can also be placed near the item or person you wish to bestow the benefits upon. For example, you may place the item above a child’s bed if you want to give them good dreams, or put it into your purse if you wish to draw wealth and prosperity to yourself.

Sympathetic Magic: What is it, and how does it work?
Unlike a lot of witchcraft-centric terminology, you don’t particularly see “sympathetic magic” thrown around a lot. This is because sympathetic magic is an umbrella term with lots of magics under its hypothetical umbrella. That doesn’t mean it’s not important to know what sympathetic magic is, however!
Tumblr media
WHAT IS SYMPATHETIC MAGIC?
Put simply, sympathetic magic is an old type of magic in which an object that is associated with a target is used to seek influence over said target.
An easy example of sympathetic magic is magics that use poppets. Poppets are powerful forms of sympathetic magic as they are a physical representation of a human target of the witch’s magic. Poppets are considered to be powerful because they often contain a taglock(s).
Sympathetic isn’t limited to just people, however. It can be used to influence events (an example being that if you desire a monetary gain e.g. a raise at work, you may want to include money in your spell), or even weather.
HOW DOES SYMPATHETIC MAGIC WORK?
There are two factors that make sympathetic magic work. Some magics involve both factor, some magics only one.
“Like-attracts-like”: an example of this, may be that should you wish to bring someone happiness, you can craft a poppet in their likeness and dress it in yellow. You could leave it in the sun with the intent of channeling the connotations of happiness from the sunshine. You could anoint it with an oil made to promote happiness, or you could tie a yellow ribbon around its head or heart.  The idea of “like-attracts-like” is pretty self-explanatory  —the method of the magic reflects your desired outcome, or to use the words of Sir James George Frazer: ‘that an effect resembles its cause’.
Items once in contact, retain a bond despite distance: this factor is one that states that once someone or something has been in contact with someone or something, the essence of the object/person will forever be bound to the object/person that touched it. This is why things like hair and nail clippings can be used as taglocks  —it doesn’t matter where or when the hair fell out or the nail was clipped. It carries the essence of its former owner, and always will.  This can work when influencing events too. For example, if you wish to bring about a storm and can find a tree that is scarred from lightning, you’ve hit the jackpot. A bit of charred bark would be the perfect proxy object for a spell to bring about a storm.
Sympathetic magic can be subtle, or it can be a grandiose display of awesomeness, but that’s entirely your prerogative. I quite like the idea of standing on a heath in a cloak, waving a lightning-charged branch in the air to summon a storm, but I know that my limits are closer to changing my thinking by writing down my negative thoughts and literally eating my words (on sugar paper with edible pens! Be safe!).

Sigil of Archangel Michael
Tumblr media
The Sigil of Sorath - who should be evoked very carefully. As with most demons, he as a good side (useful for magicians who work closely with demons) and a baleful side (which will be described here)
This sigil would be used to attract the baleful influences of the Sun, which includes causing a man to be a tyrant, proud, ambitious, unsatisfiable, and to have an ill ending.
A further note for Sorath (showing his Lighter Side, as I am a catholic but I too have practiced with demons and thus know their better capabilities) I leave this link:

And from a trusted Source, V.K Jehannum (for a more thorough and detailed introduction)
https://vkjehannum.wordpress.com/tag/sorath/
(My past with these spirits, although I have done some things that I am not proud of, is still a framework of my understanding. Treat them with respect and they shall with you.
Tumblr media
Sigil of Nahkiel - This sigil would be used to attract the beneficial influences of the Sun. According to Agrippa, this includes being renowned, amiable, and acceptable; potency in all works, equaling a man to kings and princes, elevation to high fortunes, and success in all endeavors.
Tumblr media
Sigil of the Sun.
Tumblr media
Sigil of Och, described above.
Tumblr media
You would use these in planetary rituals to invoke the energy of that planet, thereafter invoking the Divine Name, Invoking the Archangel (drawing their sigil and invoking them), then the Order of Angels and then whoever you need to invoke (be it Sorath, Och or Nahkiel)

Little Bits of Candle Magick
To reverse something (for good or for bad) engrave it on the candle in reverse. Starting with the last letter, ending with the first letter. To amplify this, mirror the letters as well. This can also be done to hex a person or break their influence over someone or something.
A potent hex can be the lighting of a candle for someone's health and breaking it (essentially breaking the prayer), thus afflicting the person with horrid health.
Another way to reverse something is to reverse the candle. I.e cut off the top of the candle to make it flat and scrap the bottom of the candle to reveal a new wick and burning it from there.
The Grimoire of Dr. Fian makes mention of the usage of wooden stakes in thread magick for benefic or general works and a metal/iron stake in thread magick for works of bane. To the same, I assume this can be used in context of engraving candles. I do, however, feel obliged to mention that some peope use iron nails in engraving candles for protection, curse breaking etc. so it would depend on how the item is enchanted for the purpose. If in doubt, use the end of an incense stick.
A way of breaking someone's hold over something is to enchant a candle to the same and to break it midway through the ritual, letting it burn out as able.
A candle coated in white vinegar and salt serves well for potent cleansings whereas a candle coated in black vinegar and red pepper serves well in hexing.
Apple-Cider Vinegar coated candles serve well in rites of healing.
Blue candles can be burnt to break and prevent malocchio, red candles can be burnt to improve health (essentially as Mars is a Warrior Planet, he can be called upon to help the person fight the illness). Green candles are powerful in love magick because the colour is strongly tied to Venus.
One can press three coins into a candle and cover it in honey, thyme, cinnamon and bay leaves to create a potent money candle.
One can introduce specific effects by wrapping candles. For example, a candle meant to curse someone with depression could be wrapped with a grey thread (as Dr. Fian's Grimoire makes note that the colour grey is used for depression).
Candles can be used in the same way as eggs in the way that they are rubbed over the body and burnt to cleanse evil.
A simple cleansing candle can be made from covering it in olive oil then covering it again with salt and rosemary.

Witchcraft 101: Alcohol & Magic
Alcohol has been present in human society for thousands of years, and let’s be honest, it’s not going anywhere.
As well as being a tool to loosen one’s inhibitions, alcohol can also be a tool in witchcraft and, like most tools and ingredients, different beverages have different associations.

Top Ward Mistakes I
These are some common reasons why wards, even powerful ones, fail at times. I have noticed these over the years, through my mistakes and others.
Not enough layers: Wards are made of pure energy, and usually aren’t sentient- meaning they aren’t smart and usually don’t adjust to different attackers. Without the ability to adjust, attackers can get by with ease. Having multiple layers of wards helps prevent this. While layers will vary of course based on your needs, I always recommend three basic layers for a ward, going outwards to the inside: 1) non-detection, 2) offensive ward, 3) defensive ward. The reason for these particular layers being: an attacker can’t attack if it can’t find you. If they do find you, they are then dissuaded by a ward that attacks them. They will have to go through the ward that hurts them to even get to the ward that defends you, thus weakening them and making it harder to get through that final line of defense at the same time.
Too rigid: What shatters more easily when hit- a plastic case, or a rubber ball? The plastic case- why? Because it is super rigid and unable to bend; thus, just one concentrated hit could break through it with ease. This applies to wards as well- you don’t want your wards to be unable to bend- else they shatter under a concentrated hit. Being flexible doesn’t make a ward weaker- you can still have a super tough and thick ward that bends!
Not selective or specific enough: “Keep out malicious entities.” Okay, well what do you mean by malicious? Being as specific as possible is best when it comes to protections. Instead of just saying “malicious” how about- “those that would bring me nightmares”, “those that would harm me”. This also ties into the next point-
…From whose point of view?: Okay, you did it, you made your ward. “Keep out anything with malicious intent.” But the key is…who judges the malicious intent? A nasty entity could easily go, “this is good for me!” and bypass the ward. Additionally, an abusive entity who believes, from their point of view, that what they are doing is “helping” you, and thus not malicious, could easily bypass an unspecific ward. It is best to say something along the lines of, “Things I deem as a malicious intention.” That way, it is based on YOUR judgement alone, what YOU deem as bad, and thus it cannot be interpreted any other way by trickster entities.
A circular wall, or a sphere?: You made your ward- it’s selective, not super rigid, and you made sure the terms were from your point of view. And yet- it’s still easily bypassed! Bad Entities appear in your room, seemingly untouched by the wards. What could’ve happened? Well- this ability called “teleportation” exists. If your innermost ward is a circular wall- not filled in- then an entity could easily bypass your wards just by teleporting directly to you or directly into your space! To protect against this, you want your innermost ward to be like a sphere- filled in on the inside with protective energies as well. Thus, the constraints applying to the outer layers of your wards (no malicious intent from my point of view) are applied to your actual space as well- thus nullifying the teleporting ability, or dealing damage to any entities that manage to teleport inside anyways.

Simple Home Wards
For outside:
Drive sturdy sticks into the corners of your property to bolster those areas and strengthen wards. It adds firm definition to where you are warding. Using sticks from your property is a great way to connect everything on your land
Hammer three nails in the ground near your front door to act as a potent warning to spirits below.
Use solar powered lights to line your path to the door to keep it feeling bright, warm, and inhabited. Keep a small light on your keys and it will help to keep you from getting lost. Make sure to program all lights and keychain lights at the same time to sync them together.
Enchant wreaths to draw in abundance and repel misfortune and negative entities.
Choose a striking door knocker to act as a guardian against thieves and predators.
Plant hardy flowers and bushes that are native to/thrive in your area around all entrances and exits. Find out what the bees in your region like (if possible)!
Use windchimes to ward off entities looking for stagnant places. Sound and motion tend to clear away that kind of energy.
Draw (or use energy instead of a drawing utensil) a sigil on the outer walls of your home, especially on pillars and doorframes. You can do this before your home is completely built if you are in that process!
Draw similar sigils and/or statements on your driveway in the summer to bake them into your land and charge them. You can use water in a squeeze bottle to do this as well, and it will fade away immediately if your area is hot.
During the winter, you can also use water to cut through the snow or to freeze onto your property. Be careful, of course, and bear in mind where you or your pets may walk.
Use potted flowers to hide non-deteriorating crystals and wards. Put permanent wards inside the pots before planting.
For inside:
Enchant and place coins or other small tokens above every doorway and in every windowsill of your home to draw in wealth and repel malevolent forces. Bobby pins, dimes, toothpicks. It all works, but I recommend charging them every month or so.
Hang tapestries or other kinds of wall decor to break up stretches of potentially stagnant spaces. Clocks move and typically have a sound, which have always served me well in cleansing and keeping up with the flow of energy.
Salt lamps are actually quite useful. They are very dangerous for animals and small children, though. If you're good with the lamps being safe, they are excellent at cleansing, warming up, and protecting an area.
Rugs can be used to make wards all ob their own. You can create a design on the underside if you want, or just use energy to enchant it.
Wipe vents down with some sort of ritually clean and positively charged solution. Gem elixir, moon water, herbal tincture, etc.
Enchant fixtures already setup to protect you and your family. Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, security systems, locks, etc. Use energy opposed to physical materials for most of these to protect their functionality.
Ward your attic. Birds get in, squirrels get in, entities and energies get in.
If you have a chimney, ward the fireplace or surrounding objects. Grates and screens are awesome for this.

In spells for wealth, gold, healing, fecundity and happiness, the witch must use a saffron yellow thread on a Sunday.
The knotted cord, when fully empowered, is worn upon oen's person if intended to affect the personal self or placed in proximity to the target of the spell.
A more general colour system for cord spells and thread workings consists of three basic hues; white thread for matters of wisdom, mind, light, spirit and sovereignity, red thread for war, courage, strength and defensive might and green thread for fertility, eroticism, pleasure, abundance and wealth."

Spirit Work: Precautions
Spirit Work is not just working with ghosts, but includes that. Many different cultures believe all forms of life possess spirits including animals and plants. Some common examples of spirits are deities, ghosts, the fae, angels, demons, nymphs, and dragons, although there are countless more.
I’m not here to judge or say don’t do Spirit work, I also practice various forms of it. I simply made this post to bring to light some potentially essential aspects to practicing spirit work for any individual that desires it. As always, take what resonates, leave what doesn’t. Happy casting!
Spirit Work Precautions:
General Code II:
A spirit does not have to approach you for you to attempt to contact it. However, you can also always reject or end a partnership if you want it to stop, and so can they. Most spirits will understand and be respectful to you if you are back and honest and honorable.
General Code II:
Spirits can tell when you attempt to deceive them, or are being dishonorable towards them. Some spirits can become vengeful if you are absolutely and continuously rude toward them, or warn other spirits of your behavior.
General Code III:
For simplification, practitioners will often use possessive terms when referring to spirits. However, it is an unspoken collective understanding that we do not own them in anyway regardless of the spirit they are or how they present. Spirits are not pets, and you do not collect them. If anything, during a partnership they possess you.
General Code VI:
Be respectful to the spirits, inducing but not limited to dead, the death gods, and the graveyard guardians  Get permission from the groundskeepers and guardians and give an offering (i.e: cleaning trash or leaving coins) if you intend to take from a burial site.
Protection:
I believe you should always ward yourself and space, including the locking or sealing of mirrors. Another significantly helpful action is research and understand binding, banishing, and warding, and unbinding.
Common Spirit work Spells:
I high recommend you research and come to understand how to close and end spells, especially conjuring, invocations, or commutative forms of Divination, even before the anticipated closing.
Forming Bonds:
Establishing a connection with any spirit either through divination, veneration, offerings, prayers, and research should always be practiced before attempting to summon or work with a spirit.

🌻 Magic, Spirituality & Religious Ask Game 🌻
I was inspired by @little-ginger-witch witchy ask game and wanted to make an ask game that was a little more inclusive to those who don't necessarily identify as a witch. No hate to the person who made that ask game! This is all for fun.
What kind of practitioner do you identify as?
Do you have any daily practices? What are they?
What's your favorite type of magic to use (knot magic, candle magic, pop culture magic, etc)?
Do you use any tools in your practice? Which one is your favorite?
What types of magic are you not willing to do?
Do you have a moral code that guides you in your craft?
How do you feel about "problematic" workings (baneful workings, love workings, health workings, doing workings on others without consent, etc)?
Do you use divination at all? Why or why not?
What's your favorite divination tool?
What's your least favorite divination tool?
What's a method of divination you'd like to try?
What are your favorite types of divination readings?
What types of divination readings are you willing to do, but don't really enjoy?
What types of divination readings do you refuse to do?
Do you identify with any religions?
Do you celebrate any holidays? Which ones?
Do you venerate or work with any deities?
Do you venerate or work with any entities or spirits?
What kind of offerings or acts of devotion do you give those deities, entities or spirits?
What's your unpopular opinion regarding magic, spirituality or religion?
Who are some of your favorite practitioners on Tumblr? Tag them.

What I Use Animal Archetypes For
To start this off, I want to make something very clear. Animal spirits are not the same as spirit animals, and animal archetypes should not be treated as a spirit animal concept. Spirit animals are specifically a North American Indigenous concept, and not all tribes believe in such a thing. This is a closed practice.
There are similar concept among other religions and cultures, such as the Norse Fylgja (plural Fylgjur), but ultimately none of these concepts should be treated the same.
Animal spirits, literally, refer to the spirits of individual animals. I venerate animal spirits and even work with a select few, but animal archetypes (while they can give you an idea on how the spirit can be) aren't entirely about animal spirits.
What are animal archetypes?
When we look at the definition of archetype it is defined as "a very typical example of a person or thing" and "a recurrent symbol or motif in literature, art or mythology." This is exactly what animal archetypes are: symbolism of an animal based on their behavioral patterns, as well as how different cultures and religions view the animal from a folkloric or spiritual standpoint.
Animal archetypes have little to do with actual animal spirits. Venerating and working with animal spirits are different than animal archetypes, but that will be discussed in a different post.
What do I need to know before working with animal archetypes?
In order to understand animal archetypes you must research two things: the natural behaviors of the animal + how different cultures and religions view the animal. You can come up with your own personal correspondences for an animal archetype, but understand that this would be something along the lines of UPG. There is a reason animals are viewed a certain way from a cultural or religious perspective, and it's best not to disregard that.
How can I use animal archetypes in my magic or spiritual practices?
In magic, you can use animal archetypes to represent something specific relating to the results you're seeking. This doesn't require you to venerate or work with an animal spirit. It's merely symbolism, though if you're into thoughtforms or egregores then you could do that too. If you choose to use animal remains while also working with animal archetypes, pay respect to that animal's spirit. Give that animal spirit some sort of offering, ask for its consent and go from there (or don't, if the animal spirit wants its remains to be left alone).
For example; if you're doing a protection or warding working, you could use (or create) a doll of an apex predator or an animal known for having few predators that can take it down. Something strong and with great endurance. A wolf, bear, shark, rhino or lion would work well. This would be a more offensive working, since these animals are more likely to fight back.
In divination, animal archetypes can represent an individual. When I say "represent the individual", I mean from a personality, behavioral and spiritual standpoint. My personal belief is we all have that one animal archetype that best represents us throughout our entire lives, perhaps one that we've been attached to since we were children, and anything after that is meant to help guide and teach us depending on where we are in life. Not the spirit of that animal, but the symbolism behind it. I created my own spread for this type of thing and after thinking about it, I decided to share. This spread is best used with an animal oracle deck (1st question) and a secondary divination deck, such as tarot (2nd and 3rd questions). If you use this spread when doing a reading for others, or posting your own reading you've done online, at least give me credit for the spread.
Tumblr media
From a spiritual standpoint, we can always learn from animal archetypes. When using the spread I provided, really pay attention to the second and third question. It can help with introspection and deciding what you need to change. This isn't limited to divination, though. Sometimes we can find animal archetypes in our dreams. Sometimes dreams are connected to our mental health and physical health, so if an animal shows up in a dream don't assume it is a sign from some sort of deity or spirit. If you didn't ask for one to send you a sign, don't already venerate or work with a spirit or entity... then it likely isn't a sign from a spirit or entity.
For example; grizzly bears are commonly associated with power, but also aggression. If you dream of being chased or attacked by a grizzly bear, then there are a few questions to ask yourself. What have I been afraid of recently? What has been giving me anxiety recently? Have I felt threatened by somebody recently? What am I really running from? Asking these questions after having a dream like that can help you analyze yourself and the current state of your life.
I hope this was helpful to some of you. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do the best I can to give you answers.

A guide for safely contacting the spirit world.
Friendly reminder that on this Samhain if you plan to contact spirits, please PLEASE do it safely!
Set up a special place before you get started, make sure you will be uninterrupted while doing your work if possible. I know sometimes it’s hard to work that out for some. I personally have two children and I have to wait till they are asleep to do this kind of work.
Protect yourself, reenforce any protections you may already have, not just on you but on your space as well. Make sure you’re grounded and prepared for the work you’re going to do.
RESEARCH! DO NOT GO IN UNPREPARED! Guys seriously don’t just decided half assed that you’re going to speak with the dead or spirits because you see others doing it. Know what you are going to do. Research rituals, spells, sigils, whatever and make a plan. Stick with the plan, being prepared and having knowledge is honestly your most powerful tools in the Craft.
Tools, be familiar with the tools you plan to use. I am most familiar and connected to my pendulum so he is what I use the most, second is cards and candles I use all three together but I use my pendulum for the main communication, if I need help that he can’t give I use my tarot cards and candles with him. It is important to be familiar and know your tools so that you know when something isn’t right. Spirits can be tricky and your best defense of knowing what’s truth and lie is knowing your tools and how they typically respond to you.
Don’t go in being open to just any spirit that’s willing to talk to you if you’re not experienced. You need to have an idea of who you want to speak with, this comes back to being prepared and knowledge.
If it gets weird or scary don’t just stop. You need to be firm and say goodbye and end any spell you were doing, blow your candles out and close your circle and ground yourself. Take notes of what happened for later. Do not just leave this situation, be firm about disconnecting with the spirit and ending what you are doing.
Don’t get discouraged if things don’t go right or you don’t make contact it happens and Samhain isn’t the only time you can contact them. You can always try again.
If you don’t feel that you are prepared enough or comfortable with contacting the spirit world yourself there are plenty of spirit workers, mediums, witches, Oracles ect that you can contact to do it for you.
If your blog is open for spirit work paid or free reblog this so people will know they can contact you as a safe alternative to going it alone and unprepared. I ask that if you reblog for that reason you note if you’re paid or free please. 🧡🖤
Stay safe, stay witchy, have a blessed and happy Samhain! 🎃🖤🧡

What to do if witchcraft suddenly gets way too intense
1. FINISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
► DO NOT walk away from an uncompleted ritual
► DO NOT walk away in the middle of a spell
Grab your notes and close everything down. Dismiss any spirits or entities you are working with. Close down the circle. End the ritual. Diffuse the energy of the spell and close it down. If you were enchanting an item, announce over it that it is closed and nothing more may come in or out.
Spells and rituals are little portals of power; if you leave one open without closing it, all sorts of things could get screwy and come through.
2. End any spooky/witchy atmosphere immediately.
Blow out all the candles.
Put out all the incense.
Turn on all the lights.
Turn off spooky chanting music. Turn on some happy music or better yet, a non-supernatural television show or movie you love.
If you were enchanting an item, immediately put it in salt.
3. Don’t destroy the items/notes you will need later.
Trust me, do not throw away the spell you wrote or the objects you were working on. If things go wrong in the future you will need these to fix the problem.
► Immediately write down exactly what happened. Write down every deviation from the spell that you did. Write down exactly what you said and saw during any visualizations. Write down exactly when things started to get freaky.
► If you were enchanting an item, keep it in a black bag filled with salt until you are ready to deal with it.
4. Cleanse.
Use an energy cannonball to purify the space you were working in. Burn rosemary and bay leaves to fumigate the area, or spritz a premade water solution if you can’t have smoke. Pay special attention to all ritual tools.
If you feel the need to, cleanse yourself by visualizing the power of the smoke enveloping you and driving away any bad vibes; or take a shower if you really feel something has gone wrong.
5. Get out of the area you were working in.
Go to another room. Leave the house if possible. Seek the company of others or turn on the television if you are alone.
6. Do mundane things for a while.
Eat a nice meal. Drink a big glass of water. Go for a jog. Do some chores. Put anything magical totally out of your head. Absolutely do not focus on how weird things just got.
7. When you are ready, return to the area you were working in.
Relax yourself and judge the energies within the room. Are things still ‘creepy’? A heavy-duty cleansing is in order. Do you feel as if someone else is there? Open a window and command it to leave - if it does not, more fumigation or a banishing is required.
Judge your ritual tools and determine if they will need additional cleansing. If you were working on an object, determine if it has been corrupted or if anything is wrong with it. If so, put it back in the salt and deal with it as soon as you can.
8. Take a break from witchcraft for a couple of days.
9. Figure out what went wrong.
Fear is never a good thing. There is a difference between embracing the darkness and being afraid.
► Fear can be caused if an entity showed up you were unprepared to deal with.
► Fear can be caused if your intuition (or perhaps a spirit ally) was warning you that what you were about to do was a really bad idea.
► Fear can be caused if you tap in to powers that overwhelm you.
You need to figure out what went wrong. It isn’t a situation where you can say “oh well” and try something else later - because you screwed up, and next time you may not get an adequate warning before things go to hell.
