Things you should know about my magical paradigm as it relates to astrology:
Yes, wax on/wane off is a great magical methodology, but using the transits in the sky will get you much further.
YOUR PERSONAL TRANSITS are worth their weight in gold, magically
I do not treat the planets like they are demons which means no demands, no control, and no containment, that's just rude
the more exact your timing, the stronger the magic
all of the transits in play matter and can affect your spellwork positively or negatively (so using just one and hoping for the best is messy spellwork and may lead to failure)
all full moons and new moons are not the same - the sign that the moon is in matters greatly
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are too far beyond us to be worked with personally - you must engage with one of the inner planets in aspect with them to gain access to their power
Astrological transits are not all "good" in nature because life is not all good in nature. Some transits are shitty because life is sometimes shitty. Acknowledging that is important to me.*
This list is subject to change without prior notice because it's my framework for casting planetary magic.

The Origin & Evolution of Correspondences in Witchcraft
This post was shared a week early over on my Patreon! Working a day-job and running a blog full-time is a ton of work, so any support is insanely appreciated! Patrons will receive early access to content, exclusive content such as research notes and book recommendations, free tarot readings, access to a private Discord channel within my server, discounted products from my Etsy store, free digital files, voting power on my content, and MUCH more! Check it out here for as little as $2/month.
If you’ve been a witch for a while, you’ve probably asked yourself: where do correspondences come from? Who decided that lavender was good for calming, or that obsidian was good for absorbing negative energy? Where does the concept of correspondences come from in the first place? To answer these questions, we must first look at something called “correlative thinking”: Marcel Granet (1884-1940), a French sociologist, coined the term “correlative thinking”, which can be defined as “thinking of an item of one class by correlating it with an item of another class”, typically organizing and relating “natural, political/social, and cosmological data in highly ordered arrays or systems of correspondence.” Sound familiar?
Correlative thinking takes many forms throughout religion, philosophy, and humanity – even showing up as early as Mesopotamia, where they believed events on earth ran parallel to events in heaven: “each city-state had its own patron god and every change in the balance of power between the city-states was seen as the direct reflection of a change in the relationship of the gods.” (Cavendish, pg. 12) In ancient Greece and among Hellenic philosophers, they came up with the “macrocosm/microcosm” analogy, which describes the relationship between the smaller, human being (the microcosm) with the much bigger, seemingly infinite cosmos (the macrocosm).
This correlative thinking is prevalent in many magical texts throughout the years – including The Emerald Tablet (late 8th-early 9th century), The Picatrix (a 9th century Arabic grimoire), The Key of Solomon (1312), and the Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1533). After the publication of The Three Books of Occult Philosophy and the boom of new-age spiritualism in the 1970s, there have been a massive number of publications related to witchcraft, correspondences, ritual magic, and more. For the purpose of this post, however, we’ll be focusing on these foundational texts to better understand the evolution and origin of correspondences.
The Emerald Tablet, dated around the late 8th-early 9th century, is one of the most highly influential texts within the philosophical and occult realm. An English translation of a line of text within The Emerald Tablet provides one of the most popular terms among new agers and modern pagans: “That which is above is like to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above”. A shortened version of this phrase, “as above, so below”, can be found in Helena Blavatsky’s work, Isis Unveiled (1877), where it became massively popularized among the modern pagan community. This phrase, along with terms related to correlative thinking, tie back to many cultures – including China, India, and more.
The Picatrix, 9th-century Arabic grimoire on astrological magic, is yet another influential piece of text. This text contained astrological magic, magical potions and spells, and different Hermetic, Neoplatonic, and Aristotelianism philosophical passages – and it also included the explanations of links between planets and intangible objects such as colors and perfumes/fragrances.
After a few series of translations in the 12th and 13th centuries, the information within the Picatrix (and other sources) were recorded and arranged by Henry Cornelius Agrippa (1486-1535) in his work, Three Books of Occult Philosophy in 1509 (not being published until 1533). From there, Dr. John Dee (1527-1604) expanded on Agrippa’s work in the 1580s and 1590s.
Shortly after, in 1620, the Magical Calendar was published, which compressed much of the previous material. This calendar, amazingly recorded on one page, “contains tables of correspondences arranged by number, from one to twelve. The material is based largely on the extensive tables in Agrippa, book II, but goes beyond this, especially in its inclusion of sigils.” (Skinner, pg. 14)
Moving onto another incredibly influential text, The Signature of All Things, published by Jakob Bohme in 1764, covers a similar concept to correlative thinking known as ‘the doctrine of signatures’: God created everything on Earth with a “signature”, or sign, that tells you what that object’s purpose is. The idea is that any plant, herb, or object on earth should resemble what it’s purpose is – for example, walnuts (which look like brains) are used for brain health, and tomatoes (which are red, plump, and contain ventricles like the human heart) are used for heart health. Obviously, this concept was adopted in the context of medicinal use – by looking up an object’s signature within this book, a physician could theoretically find treatments for specific illnesses. While the contents of this book (and similar texts) have been debunked as pseudoscience, the influence of the doctrine of signatures is prevalent in witchcraft correspondences today.
In 1888, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was founded, and during that time S L MacGregor Mathers (1954-1918) and Dr. Wynn Wescott (1845-1925) prepared knowledge lectures for the Order, which eventually led to the generation of a Book of Correspondences (unpublished). According to Adam McLean in his edition of The Magical Calendar, this book circulated among members of the inner order of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and was later published by Aleister Crowley as his own work, Liber 777 (1909). Meanwhile, in 1908, The Kybalion (an anonymously written text, though often attributed to William W. Atkinson [1862-1932]) was published, including topics like “The Principle of Correspondence” and “The Planes of Correspondence”.
From here on, we have an uproar in magical texts, thanks to the new-age/spiritualism movement of the 70s and 80s – popular authors like Gerald Gardner, Scott Cunningham, Ray Buckland, and many others published works on the subject of magic, often including their own correspondences, typically influenced or inspired by the works of Crowley, Mathers, and Atkinson. Of course, the contents of these modern texts are what is most recognizable to practitioners today – we usually find tables of information, relating astrological signs, herbs, planets, feelings, colors, and more to their “meanings”: protection, anti-stress, happiness, love, etc.
As it stands, correspondences are a by-product of the ‘correlative thinking’ concept we covered earlier – this correlative thinking shows up in Mesopotamia, and evolved throughout magical texts and grimoires, eventually becoming these “tables of magical correspondences” that we are familiar with seeing in modern witchcraft and pagan books and resources.
As I round off this post, I want to share a quote from Richard Cavendish in his book, The Black Arts: “Man is a tiny replica of the universe. If two things are naturally associated together in the human mind, which is an image of the ‘mind’ of the universe, this is evidence of a real connection between the two things in the universe. Many of the important magical analogies and connections are not natural to most people’s minds today, but have been handed down by tradition from the remote past. This enhances their value for occultists, who believe that humanity was a great deal wiser in these matters in the remote past than it is now.” As practitioners, particularly modern practitioners, I feel we put too much emphasis on older concepts and traditions. While there’s nothing necessarily wrong with sticking to traditions and building off of older magical systems, I think it’s just as important that we work on our own magical systems – what does the color red mean to you? What about the planet Jupiter? Find out what works for you – you may find that it makes you feel more connected to your craft and your practice, and your workings could become more powerful, too.

Planetary Days & Hours
Each day and hour of our lives is ruled by different planets. If you study astrology, you already know every planet profoundly influences our lives from birth until death. Understanding the different planetary movements can help you find the best time for performing any ritual, scheduling a meeting, and everything in between.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Understanding the Planetary System
The planetary day begins with sunrise, is sectioned into 24 planetary hours, and ends at sunrise the following day. It sounds like a regular day; however, planetary hours are not divided into 60-minute intervals--in other words, some planetary hours are longer than others. Our days are divided into 2 sections: sunlight and moonlight. From sunrise to sunset is divided into 12 equal sections; sunset to sunrise is divided into another 12 sections.
This results in moonlight planetary hours being longer than sunlight. Rarely are the planetary hours precisely 60 minutes. The only exception is the spring & fall equinoxes.
Tumblr media
This chart helps you better understand the order of the hours and how they move throughout the day. 7 influential planets rule the days and hours: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. Each day begins in the hour of their respective planet.
Sunday always starts in the hour of the Sun. Monday always starts in the hour of the Moon, etc.
From here, the hours move in a linear pattern.
Sun (1), to Venus (2), to Mercury (3), to Moon (4), to Saturn (5), to Jupiter (6), to Mars (7): Repeat.
Regardless of the day, the hours will always move in this order. You might be wondering /how/ the days start in their respective planetary hours if we maintain this order. We skip three planets between the last hour of moonlight and the first hour of sunlight.
On Sundays, we end in the Hour of Mars (the last hour), skip the Sun/Venus/Mercury, and start in the Hour of the Moon - beginning Monday. You can refer to the previous picture to get a better visual.
***I recommend Planetaro (for IOS) and Planetary Hours Calculator to better measure the planetary hour.

Understanding the Days & Hours
7 influential planets rule the days and hours: **The following correspondences apply to the planetary days and hours.
☉ SUN | Day & Hour of the Sun - Sunday
The sun encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and act confidently. It's all about living in the present moment and acting with intention. Under the influence of the Sun, you'll find it easier to approach authority figures and find more success in getting what you want (promotion, jobs, etc.). If you can, you should schedule essential meetings during the hour of the sun, especially if a decision needs to be made. You're encouraged to relax and go with the flow. Go outside and see where the wind takes you.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for self-expression, exploring, creativity, socializing, career success, and advertising.
-
☾ MOON | Day & Hour of the Moon - Monday
The moon inspires you to connect physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It's all about turning inwards and aligning yourself with what matters most. The moon is best for connecting with family and being emotionally vulnerable. You'll find it easier to discuss emotionally charged topics during the hour of the moon. Similarly, people will be more receptive to your feelings. You should spend the hour of the moon with your family if you can. Under the influence of the Moon, you should reflect on your goals and emotional well-being. It's a great day to test your intuition, experiment with divination, write down your feelings, and organize your emotions.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for emotions, family, and food.
-
♂ MARS | Day & Hour of Mars - Tuesday
Mars makes you want to move and assert yourself. You'll find yourself more motivated under Mars' self-assured energy. This is a great time to make decisions and lead by example. You're at your most motivated and physical confidence, although you might be a little too confrontative and irritable. It's crucial to strike under the influence of Mars. Still, you're making decisions, starting something new, or getting physically active--don't bite off more than you chew.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for action, motivation boosts, and physical energies
- ☿ MERCURY | Day & Hour of Mercury - Wednesday
Mercury is all about communication and processing. It's the best time to communicate via all media, study and recall information, and send important documents/messages/etc. You'll find that you have more focus under the influence of Mercury. It encourages you to recall important information and convey that to others. Under the influence of Mercury, you should schedule exams, draft essential messages, and/or write down anything important to you. It's an excellent time for overall communication and understanding.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for communicating, learning, and sending important messages.
- ♃ JUPITER | Day & Hour of Jupiter - Thursday
There is no lucky time than Jupiter's hour. You'll typically hear good news, see improvements, and see good luck during this time. Under Jupter's influence, things seem to go your way more often. Under the influence of Jupiter, you should manifest (wealth, relationship, career success, etc.) and invest in all aspects of your life. Jupiter doesn't just influence your material wealth, though. You'll see success in all aspects of life, including emotional/romantic/spiritual/etc. Jupiter is all about abundance and generosity. You should also consider donating during this time.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for growth, good luck, fortune, and success.
- ♀ VENUS | Day & Hour of Venus - Friday
Everyone knows about the allure of Venus and the planet's influence. Venus encourages you to love by all definitions of the word. It's the best time for dates, romantic encounters, and (my favorite) self-love. Under the influence of Venus, you are encouraged to do self-care, self-beautification (hair, makeup, shopping, etc.), socialize (romantically and platonically), and overall de-stress, relax, and enjoy yourself to the fullest. It influences you to love life however that looks for you.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for love, social occasions, mediating after a dispute, de-stressing, entertainment, and financial investments.
-  ♄ SATURN | Day & Hour of Saturn - Saturday
Saturn is all about getting things done and setting things right. It's about finishing everything you've been putting off: projects, chores, finalizing plans, etc.--Saturn is there for it all. This is an hour of productivity at its finest. Under the influence of Saturn, you are encouraged to get work done and follow the flow. You have to take things one by one as they come. You are encouraged to start organizing your plans/agenda and tie up any loose ends before the hour ends.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Best for responsibilities, getting organized, and rules.

Ancient Chinese astrologers be like, look up at the stars, make up some ridiculous stories about the stars, people think they're so cool, people continue to make up more ridiculous stories about the stars, more people think they're so cool, and this is how we ended up with the Milky Way was formed from the queen mother of heaven's hairpin.

I will always be a huge supporter of the idea that if you practice witchcraft, it is incredibly important that you also study - and it can be self study! - sciences. Maybe it's just because I'm a stem nerd at heart, but studying science will not only help your craft, but will help keep you grounded in reality as well. More and more scientists are writing books in prose for the general population, ED-x and Coursera allow for you to take free classes, z-library has all the textbooks you could ever want. Science helps inform the craft. A lot of what we're doing is connecting to the universe and, if you follow the psychological model, is actually rather scientific in nature. I'm not saying you need to become an expert in theoretical physics, but reading books about physics and chemistry and psychology will be incredibly useful to you and your craft, and you might even find that you love it! My Stephen Hawking collection is my pride and joy, I love the fact that I own all of his books, and have read them. A lot of people become convinced that when it comes to witchcraft and science, it needs to be one or the other, but that isn't the case! One can inform the other.

There's Mars in full armor at twelve o'clock high and following him, the majestic Sun; next comes Venus holding her arrow of desire and after her Mercury with his staff and serpent. The wistful Moon, old Saturn with his scythe, and vital Jupiter bearing a flowering bough complete the circle.
Mars: growth, strength, health, defense, sex life, matrimony, hostility. Sun: illumination, energy, action, hope, self-expression, motivation Venus: love, desire, harmony, constancy, friendship, unity, beauty Mercury: wisdom, intelligence, opinion, fear, debt, nervous tension Moon: enchantment, dreams, wishes, moods, plans, habits, ways Saturn: peace, divination, change, ambition, progress, patience, loss Jupiter: law, honor, expansion, humor, wealth, adventure, bold quests

Good deeds, virtues don't sell.
Tumblr media
The idea of talking about Virtues and Good deeds isn't as big or popular but it's a good enough topic that I feel deserve a post here. Mainly that the results from our livelihood deserve this aspect of action in the world...that sounded a bit weird writing it out. What I am saying is that your action in the world, your behavior with other, and a lot of the stuff you do "off the cushion" or "with normies" matter a lot when you go and do the rituals or even meditate.
The essence of all the practices is some kind of finicky adjustment and the real meat is what you do when you talk to people, when you act with people, and how this feed back into the whole equation. It doesn't matter how you talk to random people politely, what matter is how you talk, deal, and act with people close to you.
What are you doing in the world, how are the stuff manifesting in the world, is it all internal? you have to ask yourself these questions.
"The wrong person even with the right knowledge will come to no good end. But the right person even with the wrong (or incomplete) knowledge will make it work."
Some people might think of it as "oh I don't have a lot of money", it's not even about the money, if not by the money then you can help with time, with effort, with talking, with guiding, etc. It's not about always gain and loss in that sense. I think you can see it yourself, but if you don't do anything bad or anything good which is most of population they just tend to "blob" along the sea of life not sinking nor floating, most of their action are morally ambivalent or not even considered "actions" just motions. Paul Sedir in his book about how to Pray have a very good quote on this:
Tumblr media
To make ourselves heard, our heart must speak the language of Heaven, and that language is charity; our person must become aware of his nothingness, and in this inner void infinity rushes in to fill it. Thus, belief is not enough; believing in God and not obeying Him is what only too many Christians do. I prefer those who claim not to believe yet obey the Divine Law. Praying without previously performing an act of charity can do nothing; whereas charity without faith still moves Heaven. Remember the wonderful stories of the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan. It isn’t faith that begets charity, it is charity that begets faith. Faith isn’t an opinion of the brain, it’s a conviction of the heart. To have faith in someone isn’t to believe that the person exists; it’s to trust them, and to trust them wholeheartedly.
Faith means love of God, as charity means love of one’s fellow beings. These two flames grow through one another and feed one another.
I hope, this doesn't remove the importance of the experiences, the rituals, the practices, and so on. One of my friend said he didn't appreciate the Quran or wasn't moved by the Quran until he worked with Jaljalutiya prayer. So again it's a very tricky situation, there's no one way to crack this egg and some people who over-emphasize the charity too soon don't realize it could be a bit too bad for the people who didn't have the experience or understand why they would do that. I am not telling you to go out right now and do charity just because you read it in the internet, but think about it and contemplate it. Just like Paul Sedir said, they're two flames(prayer and Faith) working in conjunctions, your rituals, invocation, spellwork, etc AND your behavior irl, how you deal with people and how people see you, your actions, thoughts, and words. You can't just practice 1 hour a day and do shit for the rest of the 23 hours. The WHOLE thing is your practice.
Let me end this two points, first a quote and lastly a technique. The Quote from G.O Mebes' Minor Arcana course:
An isolation for too long could harden your heart and damage the intuition. A period of self-analysis lasting too long, developing the principle of reason, could take place at the cost of sensitivity, which is also necessary. This is the first danger that the disciple encounters on the Way and that you need to avoid, instituting an adequate "modus vivendi" in your environment. Ethical Hermeticism teaches that it is preferable to take just one step forward and advance your environment - even a tenth part of that step - than to take ten steps, giving nothing to the environment. It is by giving that man receives.
The technique is either the Planetary Charity which you can read about extensively here and the other one is that aim to just do one good deed a day, to counsel a friend, to drop one cent in a charity box, to pray for the dead, or to help a friend with a problem. Again, Charitable and good deeds have a lot of ways to come about them so why not try praying to be in the position to help people ;) maybe that prayer can be answered. May the Divine Creator open the way for us to help one another as brothers and sisters.
Sincerely, From the Heart.

Thoughts on working with the eclipse:
I still won’t say it’s bad or not to do it.
You should exercise extreme caution because eclipse energy is liminal and intense.
It might not feel good to you and if not, back off. It’s okay if you decide not to at the last minute.
It is THE stuff of pure cosmic change. I saw someone else on here refer to it as Tower energy and that’s not wrong.
That should also give you pause at least long enough to figure out how much dodge you have in you. When the Tower falls, it falls HARD.
On the same token: beware of electricity tomorrow and especially storms.
I think it’s a better day spent crafting things charged with eclipse energy that can be harnessed at a later date, but that’s just me.
If you are in the path of the totality, think about things that should never see the light of day. And (this should be obvious) only expose them to the totality. Yes that’s only four minutes (or so).
With luminary events: timing matters. If you want to use the eclipse energy, take your actions during the time that the sun is eclipsed. Otherwise you’re just working with a weak new moon.
Hydrate. Eat some food. Take care of yourself before and after you do eclipse magic because it’s likely to take a lot out of you.
And write it down. Write down if you do magic. Write down how this solar eclipse makes you feel. Write down any dreams you have tonight or tomorrow night. Write down every detail of your day tomorrow but most especially what happens while the sun is eclipsed.
See y’all on the other side.

Custom Jewelry from the Sorcerer's Workbench
I haven't been promoting it much the last few months, but doing custom work is actually one of my favorite parts of doing jewelry for the occult community.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces from this year and last:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Custom Hestia devotional image. The cauldron image was based on the customer's own artwork. The image of Hestia at a fire in front of a castle was based on an ancient bas relief.

Jupiter ring with lapis lazuli. A highly idiosyncratic engagement ring.

Three finger snake ring, made as payment for a model last October
If you'd like a custom piece, please reach out to me through any of my social media or my etsy store.
