Draco x OC
Chapter Five
Snake Blood
It was bigger than any structure she had seen in her short life. Bricks upon gray crumbling bricks stacked so high it had covered the horizon. Winnie sat with her mouth agape as she looked upon it in complete awe. Draco tried to hide his shocked gaze in an attempt to seek casual about the whole ordeal. He had been making fun of Winnie as she had seemed to easily wowed by all that's around her, so he did not want to appear the same.
His eyes rested on her as she stayed distracted by Hogwarts size. He could see her become smaller in her chair as all this seemed to finally intimidate her. Draco wondered why her parents kept her so sheltered. Lucius was cruel at times, but he always seemed to want the very best for Draco, even if it was only for selfish reasons. To him, it had seemed as though Winnie's parents hadn't cared much for her at all. He wondered if she had been ignorant to that fact, or if sadly she knew of her unimportance.
With the high sun shining down on her light hair and smooth skin it appeared as though she wasn't some awkward little girl. She was pretty. Her thick lips and upturned nose were reflected in the trains glass window. Draco continued to stare at her reflection as to not make it so obvious he was looking at her. It became hard to him to turn away.
That's when she looked back over at him and caught his resting gaze. Draco quickly turned with a blush painted across his cheeks. Winnie sunk her eyebrows down in confusion. It looked as though Draco grew nervous as she continued to analyze him. Usually it was Winnie who was nervous.
"Have you ever been here?" She asked trying to avoid speaking of what had just happened. Draco eagerly accepted the change in topic.
"No." He answered.
"It's big." She states "really big."
"How else do you expect it to fit all of its students if it wasn't big?" Draco spat condescendingly. He had been rather nice for most of the train ride, but his sudden shyness brought back out his rude behavior.
"Are you nervous to find out what house you will be in?" She wondered as the train pulled up to the building. Draco seemed annoyed by her question.
"Stop asking me such stupid things." He demands as he stands from his seat. Winnie quickly followed suit as to not be left behind once more. "I know what house I will be in, obviously." His words faded as he walked down the hallway filled with screaming and laughing children. Winnie continued to follow close behind him, but couldn't help but wonder as she walked. How could someone be so sure of themselves? It was as though Draco had been preparing his whole life for this moment. All the whole Winnie remained completely at a loss.
The children scattered outside the train and everyone eagerly runs towards the large two story entrance of the castle. Winnie reaches out and grips onto Draco's rob trying not to lose sight of him. Draco shot a look back at her and then down to their almost connecting arms. To Winnie's surprise he hadn't ripped his arm away at her touch, but instead allowed her to remain clinging to him for support.
The entrance hall was just as large as she would have imagined for a building like this. It was grand. Large marble floors and walls. It had almost reminded her of her own house, just much much bigger and more intimidating. Something she never thought possible.
A nudge on her shoulder caught Winnie's attention and she looked over to see a familiar boy. The one with the small scar on his face. Winnie let out an inaudible gasp at the sudden sight of him. He gave her a small nervous smile in return. Everyone's talking all around them seemed to fade in both their minds as they looked at each other.
"Hello." He said cautiously. Winnie swallowed her breath and sat back on her heels.
"Hi." She greeted with a very faint smile.
"Potter?" Asked an aggressive Draco "I hadn't expected to see you again so soon." Harry looked over at the boy with a much less welcoming face. "It's true what they say then. Harry Potter has come back and is now at Hogwarts." Draco took a step closer to him, but still remained on the stair above as to look down at the brunette boy. "My name is Draco Malfoy."
A muffled laugh erupts behind Harry. Both you and Draco look over to see the same red haired boy from the shop at had accompanied Potter. Draco gave the child a look of complete disgust. He then turned back towards Harry with anger in his eyes.
"You'll soon realize that some wizarding families are better than others." Draco's snake like eyes shot back and forth between the two boys "you don't want to b making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Draco extended his arm out in a gesture for a handshake. A slimy smile etched itself along his lips as he waited for Harry's hang.
Harry gave Draco no visible reaction to his harsh words. Winnie took note of this as it seemed to have annoyed Draco further. He was used to getting reactions out of people. He liked it. And, Harry wasn't giving it to him.
"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks." Harry spat back equally as harsh as Draco had. This caused a shocked look to replace his once cocky smile. Winnie was sure Draco would say something especially nasty, but she was relieved when an older women with a pointy hat along and placed her hand on his shoulder. He turned to meet her menacing look as she stood much taller than him. Without argument he took a step down and placed himself back next to Winnie.
"We're ready for you now." The woman said in a calmer voice and Winnie had anticipated. She turned and gave Winnie a soft smile before continuing "follow me." Without hesitation the crowed pushed forwards causing Winnie to walk ahead of everyone. Something she was not comfortable with. She tried to wiggle her way back as to not be the first one in the new room, but no one gave her the leeway to do so as everyone was so excited to see what was to come.
This time it was Draco who had reached out and took ahold of Winnie's coat. This brought her a small comfort as she entered the great hall only to see to her dismay it packed full of other students. Her face grew completely red as she was forced to walk down the walkway between all of the benches. Above her were floating candles and a ceiling that looked like the sky. She tried to distract herself from all the older students who seemed to only be looking in her direction. She had only hoped they had been looking at the famous Harry Potter, and not the unknown Winnie Rose.
As they all stopped forwards the older woman in the cloak took a step to the side and revealed a witches hat sat upon a stool in the center of the stage before them. Winnie instantly stopped a good distance away as the woman stopped leading them forwards. Draco looked at her confused by her nervousness.
"It's only a hat." He assures her. Winnie shook her head as she points forwards.
"It has a face." She pointed out. Draco looked over to confirm that the hat did indeed have a mouth and closed eyes.
"Before we begin." Began the old lady "professor Dumbledor would like to have a word. Winnie looked over to the long stretched out table behind the hat. A man with a beard down to his knees slowly stood up and faced the crowed of children.
"I have a few start of term notices." The man said in his old cracking voice "for the first year students, the dark Forrest is strictly forbidden." The man continued to talk, but Draco leaned into Winnie's ear distracting her from the mans words.
"This is stupid." The boy complained quietly. Winnie shot him a scared glance, as she did not want to be punished for not listening. Winnie was never allowed to not listen to her elders. She had expected Draco to know better himself as his father reminded her of her own.
"Now when I call your name please step forward and I will place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your respected houses." The woman called out ripping Winnie's attention away from Draco.
"Hermione Granger."
A frizzy haired girl jumped forwards instantly and gathered herself onto the stage. The old woman lifted the hat so Hermione could sit upon the now empty stool. The girl placed herself down and with a wide smile accepted the hat. Almost immediately the hat began to speak.
"Right then~ hmmm right." It said under its breath. Winnie opened her mouth in awe as she watch the hat ponder its own thoughts. After a few moments of mumbling the hat loudly proclaimed "Gryffindor!" A whole table of students erupted in cheers and the girls smile only widened as she danced over to be met with their greetings.
"Draco Malfoy." Called the old woman. Winnie felt Draco's grip tighten on her. She looked over at him and saw a nervousness take over his demeanor momentarily. Only for him to collect himself as soon as he saw everyone looking. He released his hand from her and made his way towards the stage and onto the same stool the girl had once sat in.
The woman reaches down and begin to place the hat on his head only for it to call out "Slytherin!" Before it had even touched him. Draco wore a snarky smile as he shot back up from the chair and headed towards the other table of cheering students. He gave Winnie a glance as he passed her, but she remained only more nervous than before.
One by one each student around her was called until there was few remaining to shield her from everyone's attention. Winnie looked around cautiously as the finally called Harry's name. As he sat in the stool you could see him talking beneath his breath. The hat called out his words "not Slytherin, aye?" Asked the hat "you'd make a fine Slytherin, it would help you become a great wizard!" Harry continued to mutter as the hat talked over him, though his words did not fall onto deaf ears as the hat finally gave in and shouted "Gryffindor!" To Harry's relief.聽 No one had told Winnie that it was possible to negotiate with the sorting hat. She wondered if anyone had ever even tried it before Harry Potter.
"Winnie Rose Elway!"
Her heart sank as she heard her very own name. Much in the same way it would sink when her mother called her name. She knew it could mean nothing good. She had a sneaking suspicion that this situation was no different. She was unable to move as everyone looked at her expecting a quicker response.
"Come on." Encouraged the old woman as she waved Winnie forwards. Winnie forced her right leg to move up one step, and the rest of her body soon followed. She creeped towards the seat and slowly turned herself around. Her petrified face was met with a sea full of strange looks.
Carefully she placed herself down on the chair. Still with eyes as wide as the moon. Her shaking hands gripped onto the side of the chair as she tried to balance herself properly. The women lowered the hair to her hair. With every passing second time seemed to stop. A nervous sweat coated her back as she tried to gather her thoughts.
"Gryffindor!" Exclaimed the hat as soon as it had touched her head. Winnie nearly fainted in shock. She remained seated on the chair until several students in the crowd stopped cheering and began giving her strange looks. Her mouth fell agape, but no words were spoken. She wanted to argue, but knew better, she was raised better, she knew that when she was told something, she must do it. "Huh?" The hat spoke as she continued to stay frozen in fear "you disagree with my judgement?"
"N-no!" Winnie spat out not wanting to upset the hat.
"Then, what is it girl?" It asked. Winnie looked around panicked, unsure of how to address the situation.
"M-m-my farther" she began barely able to finish her sentence "my f-father insisted I-I be placed in S-Slytherin."
"Oh?" Laughed the hat "who is your father?"
"V-Vincent Elway, sir."
"Vincent Elway?" Repeats the hat "ah, yes, I remember Vincent Elway. I had placed him in Slytherin just as fast as I had chosen Gryffindor for you. The cunning man he is."
"Y-Yes, sir."
"He wants you in Slytherin does he?" Asked the hat.
"Yes, sir."
"Well, if he had wanted you in Slytherin so bad, maybe he should have raised you to be a Slytherin." The hat explained. She felt her chest shoot out as she tried to catch her breath. Her father would surly kill her for failing to place in the right house. She knew she couldn't go home now. He would truly and honestly kill her this time.
"That is not a criticism on you girl, but one on him." She sat paralyzed. Never had she realized her father was able to be criticized. Tears filled her eyes and quickly fell down her cheeks. She wasn't sure how she began crying to fast. She knew all the other students would think poorly of her. She knew Draco would think poorly of her.
"Luckily for you both, it's more than just what you are now, it's what you have the potential to be, and I can see something in you. Something your father might not even be able to see. But, it is something you will have to look for and find if you ever wish to be a true Slytherin. If that is really want you want to be." Her mouth begins to open but before she can speak the hat roars an answer louder than his last.
"Slytherin!"

Draco Malfoy x OC
Chapter Four
Honeydukes
"Platform 9 3/4?" She asked breathlessly as her little legs desperately tried to keep up with the Malfoys. Draco laughed at her as she struggled to keep up and her seemingly never ending questions.
"Your parents really taught you nothing, huh?" He teased "you're like a muggle, truly." Winnie's eyes widened at his words. She was nothing like a Muggle, was she? In fact, this was her first time entering the Muggle world, and it all seemed to strange to her. Yet, Draco had called her strange, hadn't he?
Muggles all seemed to preoccupied with their own lives. They all walked with their heads down or with the strange phones to their ears, completely ignoring one another. They would often walk right into Winnie and offer no apology or even a second glance. It seemed as though no one knew or cared that she was a wizard. Dispute her cloaks and cat. Winnie had wondered if she appeared as clueless and spaced out as all of them had.
"I've just never heard of it." She defended herself "I only see platform 9 and platform 10 just up ahead."
"Do you think it would be so easy that anyone could find it?" Ask Lucius unamused "obviously not."
"Then..." Winnie began with slight annoyance at his nonstop condescending tones "where is it?" Lucius stopped his steps instantly and turned towards the much smaller girl. Draco peered around from behind his father with a slightly scared and concerned face. That is when Winnie realized she had done something wrong.
"Getting brave are we?" The man asked as he peered down at her "I'd advice you to speak in a more appropriate tone." He warned.
"Y-Yes sir." Winnie nodded instantly. Lucius gave her a wicked smile. His long pointy finger shot up and twirled around and paused on a solid brick pillar.
"There." He pointed still with a mischievous smirk. Winnie's widened eyes followed his finger then traced back up his arm to his slender face. Her strange confused look only seemed to amuse him further "9 3/4 just up ahead."
"That is a wall." Winnie pointed out the obvious earning a low laugh from the older man.
"Run to it." He ordered. Winnie only grew more bewildered by his command.
"Run into the wall?" She trued to clarify. Lucius nodded slowly. Winnie sucked in a small breath and analyzed the situation in her head. Her father has often given her unusual punishments if she had ever slightly offended him, sometimes they would hurt, but she had wondered by Lucius would want to hurt her by making her run into a wall rather than the much simpler methods her father had often chosen.
She had noticed her hesitation seemed to only further offend the blonde man, and she thought it best to just accept her punishment rather than argue. She took a step to her side and released a sharp breath as she held onto her kitten tighter. She hadn't wanted the animal to be hurt for her crimes. She figured it best to run in head first rather than allow her cat to be smushed up into her chest. Surely that would be enough pain to appease Lucius if only her head were to hit the brick.
In that very moment she began to run forwards and closer her eyes as she approached the hard surface. She tensed up her body as soon as she felt herself closing in on the wall, but after a few more steps she grow disoriented when she hadn't hit any hard brick at all. She didn't want to stop and open her eyes right away, so she continued to run until she had finally hit something hard. But, that something wasn't a wall. It had let out a surprised gasp as soon as she head butted it.
"Watch where you are going, girl!" Yelled am angry woman. Winnie opened her eyes to see the huffing brunette bend down and retrieve her discarded items along the ground.
"Oh geez! I'm so sorry!" Exclaimed Winnie as she hastily bent down to help the women pick up her stuff. Once she handed it over the woman snatched it out of her hands and continued to trot away with a more angry attitude.
Winnie stood in defeat as she looked around at the new unfamiliar area. It wasn't the same train station as before. It was different colors, with differently dressed people. There were kids everywhere with cloaks and books with pets in their arms or in cages. Kids that had looked like her.
Without warning Winnie felt a firm push from behind. She had nearly fallen over before catching herself and saving the cat tangled in her arms. To her surprise the cat seemed still calm and hadn't clawed her since the alley. Winnie turner around in awe until she had realized it was only Draco behind her.
"Watch where you are going." Ordered an angry Draco as he brushed himself off. Winnie has wanted to argue and tell him it had been him who ran into her, but she had figured she had done enough standing up for herself for one day.
"What did I tell you girl?" Asked Lucius as her appeared behind them both "platform 9 3/4."
"Yes." Agreed Winnie "you were right."
"You listened to him with no hesitation." Laughed Draco "what if it had been a wall all along? You'd be on the ground crying!" Small tears formed in his eyes as he continued to gasp for breath between giggles.
"Shut up Draco." Lucius growled. Draco instantly silenced himself and stood up tall like Winnie did when her father got sour with her. Lucius than pushed past the kids and began heading towards the docking station. Both children eagerly skipped behind him. Suddenly Lucius reaches into his pocket and hands Draco a small golden key. Draco takes it with a widened smile seemingly already knowing what it was for. Then, the man reaches in once more and grabs another key and hands it over to Winnie.
"Thank you." Winnie said as she accepted the gift.
"Aren't you gonna ask what it's for?" Draco wondered "I know you don't already know. You don't really know anything, do you?" Before Winnie could speak Lucius interrupted the two.
"It's for your vault in the bank." He answered "that's where your parents left you the rest of your money."
"Money?" Asked Winnie confused. Her parents had never given her any money.
"Yes." Clarifies Lucius "you don't think I've been paying for you this whole time have you?"
"I-I just..."
"No noble family would allow their child to appear as poor as the rest of these Mudbloods." Spat Lucius "no matter how annoying you brats are. It would reflect badly on us."
"Thank you." Winnie responded.
"It wasn't a compliment."
"I know." Winnie nodded. Lucius gave her a slightly amused look at her response. But, before he could say anything a loud horn from an incoming train rang across the station. Anxiety shot through her veins as the nearing train approached them. She took a small step back despite both Malfoys remaining close to the edge. Once the train had come to a complete stop and opened its doors all the surrounding children instantly huddled into the carriages. Without another word Draco grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the door. Not bothering to even share goodbyes with his father.
"I'm not gonna let you make us be the last ones on here." He explained "I'm not sitting with any of these dirty people." Winnie wondered what he meant when he called them 'dirty'. They had all seemed relatively clean to her. Though, Draco always seemed to have different insults for everyone that came into his sightline.
The first empty carriage he saw was the one he had instantly claimed. He pulled her in roughly and only released her when he placed himself in the cushioned seat along the wall. He let out a pleased sigh at his very own private cabin. Winnie stood uncomfortably in the doorway for a moment, only taking an awkward seat when Draco looked up at her curiously. Though, he hadn't taken his gaze off her even after she placed herself down.
"You really are strange." Draco notes.
"You've already told me." Winnie responds. Draco let out the same amused laugh his father had given her from time to time. Winnie wondered what she had said to always amuse them so much.
"You've got an attitude to you, too." Draco added "it's all very interesting."
"Interesting how?" She asked.
"How socially inept you are."
"Socially inept?" She repeats.
"Don't tell me you don't even know what that means." Draco began to laugh only got it to be interpreted by Winnie.
"I know what it means." Winnie shot back. Draco sat in stunned silence.
"Have I offended you?" Asked Draco, not really seeming to care even if he had.
"Plenty of times." Winnie admits.
"Then stick up for yourself." Draco argues. Winnie scrunched her eyes as Draco rolled his "you'll get bullied mercilessly if you don't."
That's when Winnie begun to wonder if all wizards were as mean as Draco was. She had grown used to her parents harsh words, but the harshness from Draco's was an entirely different thing. It was as though his only intention was to hurt her when he spoke. Unlike her parents who's words only had the effect without any effort.
"Does he yell at you often?" Winnie asked The burning question in her head to break the silence "your father." Draco's face twisted as he thought about his answer.
"Yes." He said simply, yet angrily.
"So does my father." Winnie related. "Not too often though, he's mostly away in his study, but, when I do see him he yells."
"My father stays in his study a lot also." Draco admitted. His voice had a softer tone than usual. Winnie curled her legs together nervously.
"Does your mother yell at you a lot?" She asks softly. Draco raises a brow confused.
"No." He says "she doesn't."
"Oh." Winnie sucked in her lips.
"Does yours?" Draco asks "like your father?"
"Yeah." Winnie tells him "a lot."
"Oh." Draco repeated her previous words. The two sat in silence once more until Draco spoke again "what does she yell about?"
"All kinds of things." She answered.
"Like what?" He pried. Winnie turned her gaze out the window.
"Everything."
"She can't yell about everything." Draco disagreed "my father doesn't even yell about everything."
"She does." Argued Winnie. Draco pondered her words momentarily.
"Is that why you're so weird?" He finally asked "because your parents yell at you all the time?" Winnie looked down at the tacky carpet below her feet. Her eyes traced the patters as she tried to distract herself from the question. Draco huffed and continued "tell me something." He commands "do your parents ever hit you?" Winnie continued to suck on her bottom lip like she had often done when she grew uncomfortable.
"Do yours?" She reflected not wanting to answer. Draco let out a louder huff than before.
"Don't answer my question with another question." He spat. Winnie opened her mouth to apologize only to remember Draco hated when she constantly apologized. "You don't have to answer it though. I think I already know the answer."
"Sweets!" Called out a voice from the hallway.
"The trolley!" Draco exclaimed filled with excitement. He had hardly ever looked so happy about anything. He ripped open the door besides then and poked his head out "down here!" He called.
A fat old lady waddled down the hallway and peered into the room both children sat in. Draco quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out some coins to give to the lady as he began to revenge the cart. Winnie sat silently until she noticed the older lady smiling down at her. She offered the women a small awkward smile in return.
"Anything for you?" Asked the women sweetly as Draco stuffed his hands with candy and sat back. Winnie stammered as she was off-put by her kindness.
"N-no thank you." She answered. Draco looked at her confused.
"Get some candy." He told her. She shook her head.
"I don't have any money yet." Draco roles his eyes and reaches down into his pocket to retrieve more coins. "N-no you don't have to." Assured Winnie.
"Don't tell me what I do and don't have to do." Draco grumbled as he handed the woman more money. Winnie was confused by his kind action yet mean words. But, didn't hesitate to reach forwards and grab some of the most normal looking candies on the trolley. Once she made her decisions the woman smiled sweetly at her once more before closing the door and waddling away once more.
Winnie sat silently as she looked down at the odd packaged food on her lap. Instead of annoy Draco with any more questioned she just analyzed them all herself. Trying to understand how to eat any of these.
"What's your problem now?" Asked Draco.
"These are so odd." Winnie told him.
"What are?"
"All of it." She explained. Draco seemed baffled by her.
"You've never had candy before?" He asked. Winnie shook her head. Draco's tensed face eased up in that moment. If Winnie hadn't known better she would have thought she saw some sympathy in his eyes. The boy sat with his mouth ajar before leaning forwards and explaining each candy to her individually. For the first time all day he had a kindness to his voice. And, a few times the pair had even laughed together as they ate and talked along the ride.

Draco x Reader
Chapter Three
Charing Cross
"Winnie." Draco called a few feet ahead of her. Her head perked up to meet his unamused gaze, telling her he hadn't just been calling her forwards "what a silly name. Why would your parents name you that?" She halted her words momentarily expecting Lucius to scold him for his words like your parents would have. Yet, he had said nothing.
"Uh- well I guess I don't really know." She answered honestly.
"It's such a weak name for a family like yours. Winnie. Such an odd choice." Draco continued to wonder.
"I-I'm sorry." Winnie apologized thinking she had done something wrong. Draco gave her a look of surprise.
"Why are you apologizing?" He asked.
"I don't know." She admitted truthfully. Draco scorned at her response.
"You're weird." He notes sourly.
"Weird?" Winnie repeats back to herself in a whisper. That had been the first word anyone had used to describe her. Not including her fathers remarks of her being annoying or dumb. Weird was a word she hadn't considered before.
Suddenly Lucius and Draco made a hard left into the shop next to them. Winnie quickened her pace to keep up with the pair and headed in just behind them. This shop was much different than the previous one. It had owls caged up along the walls and the sound of their screeches echoed on the wooden walls.
"Lucius." Greeted the shop owner "Welcome. This must be Draco."
"Hello." Lucius said in his deep voice "we're here for his owl."
"Yes of course." The man said as he kneeled down and picked up a large caged owl from below his desk. "The Eagle Owl. The fastest one we have this year." Draco eagerly danced over to the desk to greet his new companion. His wide smile was an odd sight for his usual cold face.
"That will be 15 Galleons."
"Girl." Called Lucius. Winnie straightened her back and gave the man her full attention "pick a pet."
"S-sir." She said cautiously "I don't have any money."
"How do you think your wand was paid for?" Asked Lucius in a mocking tone "pick a pet."
Winnie bit her bottom lip nervously as she gazed around to all the animals around her. Below the owls she noted a crate of cats lying lazily on the floor. She sat back on her heals and swung forwards to her tippy toes with her hands laced behind her back.
"A cat?" Laughed Draco "you want a cat?" Winnie nodded her head slowly with her lip still sitting in her mouth. "You really are an odd thing." Draco giggled again with the same mockery his dad possessed.
"Yeah." Winnie said quietly "odd."
"Well, pick one then. We don't have all day." Lucius rolled his eyes. Winnie rushes to the cage and bends down to get a better look. All the cats looked up at her as though they were glaring in judgement. Her eyes dart around until the see a Siamese cat sitting idly in the corner. It's eyes were hooded as it seemed to be ignoring her. Unamused with all the cats and commotion around it.
"That one." Winnie turned around and pointed to the cat. The shop owner waddled over and bent down to open the cage. He then grabbed the cat by the nape of its neck and lifted it up. Winnie winced at the sight of him handling the car so harshly. The car hissed as the man plopped it down into Winnie's extended arms. It's claws nipped the tender skin of her inner arms but Winnie only held it closer to her.
"11 Galleons." The shop owner huffed as he sat back on his stool. Lucius reaches in his pocket and pulls out all the coins to pay the man. "Thanks for stopping by." The man smiled menacingly at Winnie causing her to take a step behind Lucius. Draco laughed at her cowardice and spun on his heels to exit the shop. Winnie followed closely behind him.
Once back outside the streets had seemed to settle down. Winnie has wondered if they were running late for the ride to Hogwarts, but both Malfoy's seemed unfazed by the lack of commotion. In fact, they both seemed pleased to not be surrounded by what he referred to as 'mudbloods'.
"Where are we headed now?" Winnie questions as they make their way down the alley once more.
"You need books don't you?" Asked Lucius. Winnie looked at him with her mouth slightly ajar and gave him a silent nod. "Wipe that look off your face." He demanded. Winnie quickly obliged and closed her mouth.
To her surprise the bookshop had been just around the corner. Luckily for her as her new cat had began to pierce her skin with its sharp claws. She tried to reposition it the best she could to make it comfortable, but all seemed to be done in vein. The cat was just not pleased with its new predicament
"Ah~" said the bookshop owner as the trio made their way in "Lucius." His wicked smile stretched ear to ear in what appeared to be joy. Winnie began to wonder how so many people had known Lucius. He must have known every Wizard alive as he had been one of the few that actually spoke to her parents.
"We're here for Draco's books." Lucius states "I'll need two orders now."
"Two?" Asked the owner as he leaned over to get a better look at Winnie "Ah~ and who would this be?"
"I'm Winnie." She greeted with a little more tact "Winnie Rose Elway."
"Yes, yes of course." The man says, though she was curious what he had meant by that. "Here you are Lucius." Lucius reaches in his pocket to pull out the coins to pay the man, only to be interrupted by the should of a bell indicating the door had opened. Everyone turns around to be met with the gaze of a short boy with brown hair standing in the doorframe. Behind him stood another boy with reddish hair and a taller man that sported the same color.
"Ah-" exclaimed Lucius at the sight of them. The older red head seemed displeased with the sight of Lucius. He had been the first man all day to look at him in such a way.
"Come in boys, hurry up let's get our books." My man said as he pushed gently on both boys backs. They headed in the shop and passed Winnie while both of the younger boys eyed her down curiously.
"Weasley." Lucius said with a silent laugh. The older man whom Winnie assumed to have been named Weasley glared at him before huddling past to the desk.
"I've come to pick up some books for these two." The man said ignoring Lucius completely. Without a word the shop owner turned around and began gathering some books.
"Arthur it's been a while." Lucius continued anyway. "How is Percy doing? I heard he got a job at the ministry. I'll have to stop by sometime and see him." His words had indicated to you he had in fact not planned to do what he had said. Once again the man offered him not response. That's when Lucius smiles down at the two younger boys "I'd have to assume that you are Ronald." He smiled.
"Hand me down clothes?" Laughed Draco "He must be."
"Now Draco play nice." Lucius cautioned. "And, you must be" he paused "who much you be?" His attention was now on the darker haired boy.
"My name is Harry." Harry introduces himself "Harry Potter." Winnie let out a soft gasp, but it had been audible enough for everyone around to look at her momentarily.
"Harry Potter?" Lucius smiled coyly. "The boy who lived. What a pleasure."
"Come now Ron and Harry. We don't want to miss the train." Called Arthur as he attempted to rush the two out the door.
"In such a hurry?" Asked Lucius "why don't the children all ride together, huh?" The young boy Ron seemed uneasy at the suggestion.
"Come on." Repeated Arthur as he ushered them out the door. Winnie couldn't take her eyes off Harry as he was leaving, and, he seemed just as fascinated looking back at her until he could no longer.
"What idiots." Draco spat once they were out of earshot. For once Lucius had seemed angered by his sons nasty words. He leaned down and placed his face a peer inches from Draco's.
"You will be nice to that one." He scolded "to Harry. You will befriend him, do you understand?" Winnie's eyes widened at the sight of his scolding. It had looked a lot like her own fathers anger. Though, she could only wonder why he was so insistent on Draco befriending Harry Potter.
"Yes, Father." Draco said obediently. Lucius then turned towards Winnie.
"You'd think it best to do the same." Lucius advised. Winnie nodded her head without a word, afraid that if she spoke it would only anger him further.
"Good." Lucius said as he stood. "We're done now, time for you both to catch your train." With that being said he pushed passed you and made his way out the door. You and Draco stood there for a moment, your eyes looked over towards him to see his saddened face. He then looked back at you and you had noticed his cheeks growing red. It looked as though he was about to cry, but he was holding back. Something you had done often when your father had yelled at you. Only for that second did you seem to understand his pain.

"Come in boys, hurry up let's get our books." The man said as he pushed gently on both boys backs.

Bran Stark x Reader
Chapter Two
The Wall to Dorne
The more north you were the less you felt like yourself. You were never allowed to identify as a Targaryen, but you sure did feel like one. Trying to stay strong for Bran and Rickon was proving more difficult as the days wore on. Nights were the worst though. Sleeping in the hard winter grounds was nearly impossible for you. You, Bran, and Rickon all held each other close in order to stay warm. Though the comfort was minimal.
You looked forward to meeting Jon at the wall. There was a hope that Castle Black had some form was warmth within its walls. Or, at least a meal that wasn't freshly killed rabbit. You dreamt of Jon at night. His smile. His understanding nature. You longed to see the older man.
Bran seemed to be holding out better than when he first awoke. He smiled more. Mostly at you. A couple times you had caught him staring at you while on the back of Hodor. You pretended you didn't though. Just like you had pretended you hadn't noticed him staring while back at Winterfell growing up.
That night you set up camp again. Though you knew you were closer to the wall every passing day, your surroundings all seemed to be the same. As did your misery. As Osha lit a fire Brans eyes lit up red, and they did not leave you for a moment. He often asked you why you were so sad. You often didn't answer.
When the sun fell completely you huddled up together once more. Sleep finally captured you, as did a dream. In this dream you were a dragon. Flying high above an unknown place. There was trees you had never seen. Cities you had never heard of. And, people who looked just like you. If you looked right there was an ocean. If you looked left there was a great sand city. Though you hated the word sand, and this world was nothing but it, you had never felt more at home. You wished to stay in this scaled body forever. In this unknown place with unknown people forever. But, the world seemed to like to rip you away from any hopes you dared create.
A low angry growl erupted from summers throat. You were the first to awaken, then Osha. She quickly shot up and looked around. You both spot a figure running off in the distance. She grabbed a spear and ran after it. You grab Brans arm to awaken him.
Suddenly a cloak figure slowly made its way towards you. Your grip tightened on Brans arm in fear. Your eyes dart around looking for a weapon, for anything, that could fend off this unknown person. As usual in the north only snow lay on the grounds.
As the man drew closer his body swayed side to side. He did not possess an intimidating presence, in fact the closer he came the more you realized his youth. He was not much older than you and Bran. Finally, Summer jumps between you two. The boy stops and looks down at her with a smile.
"You must be Summer." He states.
A rustling could be heard from behind the boy, but before he could react Osha appeared behind him with a spear that rested in the back of his neck. The boy halted all movements.
"Move and you die." Osha threatens.
"I'm unarmed."
"That was dumb of you." She laughs.
"My sister carries the weapons." The boy smiles as a knife appears at the base of Oshas throat.
"I'm better with them." The girl behind Osha says. Osha slowly drops her spear.
Summer growls at the boy once more as he steps closer to her. He holds out his hand and allows the dog to smell him. You pray she rips his hand from his arm. Instead, she puts her head down and walks away. You look up at the man completely vulnerable.
"Brandon." The boy says looking right past you.聽 You turn your head to look at Bran. "We've come a long way to find you."
His man was Jojen. Jojen and Meera Reed. His father knew Brans father. He helped Ned in Robert Baratheon's war, and Jojen wished to help Bran. As you walked further north your eyes occasionally glanced up to Jojen. As Brans eyes glanced up at you. Bran took notice of your lingering glances. His lingered back to his legs. His useless legs. He often wondered if that's why your eyes never landed on him.
Jojen began telling you and Bran stories about their fathers. Amazing sword fights, impossible battles, and traveling all of the Seven kingdoms. The Wall to Dorne. He even spoke of your father. Ned never told you much about him. You were never sure how well they knew each other. Jojen told you how your father and Ned were close before his death.
Often you wondered what life would have been like if your father had been alive. If your mother had actually loved him, or loved you. What if you were able to have lived in Dorne. In the warmth, without being a bastard or an embarrassment. Without being a Targaryen. You sometimes wondered what if you had died along side your father, or even if you had never been born, then you would have never have had to known what being a mistake was. You'd never have to feel the cold. Or the rejection of the North.
What you didn't know was you weren't rejecting by everyone. Some people cared for you. And, their eyes watched over you more often than you'd ever realized.

Chapter One
Lost in the Wolves
The cold never agreed with you. Though, it was all you'd ever known you knew in your blood you were meant for something different. Even if you never felt it, you knew you could never belong here. Not in Winterfell. Sometimes you thought maybe not anywhere in the world.
Though you never cared for politics they sure did have a cruel way of controlling your life. Before you were ever born your destiny was decided. Your father, a son of the mad kings brother was a Targaryen. Your mother was a lady of Dorne. You had fire in your blood. Blonde in your hair. It was obvious what you were.
The only reason you can thank the gods for your existence was your father, a skilled swordsman, swearing allegiance to Robert Baratheon early on in the rebellion. Once the mad king was murdered by Jaime Lannister Robert allowed your father to live. Even though he hated the Targaryens your father was only a bastard. Who could never claim the iron throne. You were told Cersei demanded your fathers head. To assure no future rebellions threaten their reign. She would get her wish many years later.
Your father was sent to Dorne and given a wife and a small castle on the beach for his services. You were born years after the rebellion. Always being told your mother had trouble conceiving. Many cruel kids told you it was because of how unclean your fathers genes were. How unclean you were. Your father took a Dornish name. But, after his death the monster known as Queen Cersei gave you a bastard name.
You hated sand. Though, you don't remember how it felt. The name left a bitter taste in your tongue. Even after you were sent north to live with the Starks it was still used to insult you.
Ned. The kind and honorable man he was, felt pity for you. He hated how Robert treated the Targaryens. When your father was killed and your mother abandoned you he ordered the Karstarks to take you in. And, then your destiny was set. You were forever a southern bastard of a mad king on northern soil.
Though you were not a Stark they were the closest thing you could consider a family. Bran and Arya were your only true friends. And, they proved to be helpful people to be friends with. Even though other kids would tease you they never did so when a stark was around.
At 7 you had a crush on Robb and Jon. Jon taught you how to survive in the north as a bastard. Robb. Well, Robb was just handsome. You never spoke to him much. Sansa was kind to you, but, you were too wild for her likings. Arya was closer to you in age and in spirit. She let you ride her horse and shoot her bow, when no one was watching of course.
Little Bran, or, Little Lord as they liked to call him seemed to look at you the way you looked at Jon and Robb. He tried to impress you with almost everything he did. Riding, shooting a bow, and swinging a sword, which he was never big enough to achieve. Though, with Aryas teaching you were better than him at almost everything. That is, until he showed you how to climb.
At first you were scared. Bran never seemed to be scared. He loved climbing the walls and trees of Winterfell. With every passing day you began to love it too. And, even as children he was so patient and caring when it came to your fears. That really helped you overcome them.
You often wondered if you had been climbing that day would he have fallen?
After that day everything changed. You were too young to fully understand. Ned, Sansa, and Arya had already left you. Then you lost Bran for a while. Robb left to go fight a war you didn't understand. Jon left for a wall off ice Bran always claimed he would climb one day. Rickon was sad a lot at first. Then he didn't talk much. It was sad to see a child lose himself so early.
When Bran awoke he was different. He spoke of dying. Without the use of his legs he could never be a knight. You remembered him always talking about wearing armor and riding a horse to battle, and all the honor that came with knighthood. You envied him then. You had wanted to dream of that honor. If only you had not been a girl. Now, being a cripple, Bran could better understand the lack of honor that comes with being different.
Theon has betrayed the north that fall. You saw Maester Lumin die before you. You, Bran, Rickon and Summer left with a wildling and Hodor. Though winterfell was never your home, it was the closest thing you had gotten to one. Now even that was gone.
The bitter cold of the North had always depressed you. Even though the Northern man told you it was only summer. You had told yourself, at the age of only seven, that if winter were to come then you would rather die.
Now, you were headed even more north.
Winter is truly Coming.

Draco x Reader
Chapter Two
Dragon Heart
It would seem that leaving home would be a hard choice for a child coming of age. A home would be a place of comfort, of familiarity, a place where you belong, but Winnie didn't feel those things. She didn't feel like she belongs in those dark wooden walls. She didn't feel familiar with her parents, and she never felt comfortable with herself. So, leaving had almost felt like turning a page in a not so eventful book.
Her father offered her no more parting words than his demand she place in their families house. Slytherin. Years ago he had given her all the books that could tell you anything you wanted to know about Slytherin. So, how is it possible for her to be so unprepared? Shouldn't she feel like a Slytherin already? She had practiced begging cunning, but she was promptly punished for stepping out of line. She could have tried other things, things that define a Slytherin, but most of those things didn't seem to resemble her.
In fact, in her books it had send many infamous people were from Slytherin. One of those being the very own Voldemort. A name Winnie was never forbidden from saying like the rest of the world had been. That had actually been the only thing her parents had seemed pleased with her doing. She would often go out if her way to mention the mans name, only because it was the only time she had seen her parents expressions often. Even if it had only been momentarily.
But, Winnie wasn't like Voldemort. At least, she didn't think she was. Truthfully she believed it was entirely possible for her to be anything. She hadn't really ever gotten to know herself enough to know what she was. Certainly she didn't believe herself to be a dark lord, or even necessarily a bad person, but it seemed as though that was a requirement to become a Slytherin.
Her bright blue eyes gazed up ahead to the long blonde haired man that lead her out her front door. She was uneasy about his presence. It was hard to read his character. He had looked like a villain in a book. That's the only thing she knew what to compare him too. His pointed chin and nose and viscous smile that seemed to devour all other thought she had when he aimed it at her. That's when an idea grew in her.
"Sir." She said meekly. The man did not turn to face her when he spoke.
"Yes?" He asked curious at her sudden ability to speak to him. It seemed as though he had robbed her of that very ability when she failed to answer him. He had made her very nervous. The man finally tuned to face her with a raised brow, waiting for her to continue "Yes?" He repeated a little less curious.
"A-are you a Slytherin?" She asked with her toes facing each other and head towards the ground. He let out a small laugh.
"I was." He answered simply. Winnie nodded in response. "Why did you ask?"
"I just-" she began before stopping herself. Unsure if the right thing to say.
"Do you wonder how you'll become a Slytherin?" He wondered. Once again she only offered a nod. "Well, keep acting like this and you'll never be one." He then turned his heel and began walking away from the house once again. Winnie hastily walked forward to keep
up.
"A-acting like what?" She asked as they walked. Lucius turned and offered her a small smile.
"Like a wimp." He says. Winnie widened her eyes.
"A wimp?" She asked.
"A wimp." He repeats. "You're getting older now. You're going to be at Hogwarts alone. You're parents won't be there to shelter you any longer. Those kids will eat you alive if you act like that."
"How do I act like a Slytherin?" She asks hoping for a clear answer. Once their feet hit the concrete of the driveway Lucius extends his cain and halts her from walking any further.
"Slytherin, Slytherin, Slytherin." He speaks in a mocking tone "do you know any other words besides Slytherin?"
"Facetious." Winnie says. Lucius looks at her confused.
"Facetious?"
"It's another word I know." She explains "I just learned it."
"Facetious." Lucius laughs "you're quite funny."
"I am?" Winnie asks, almost sounding eager at the compliment. Though she hadn't said it to be funny.
"Not really." Lucius takes it back. With that he stomps his cain and teleports then to another location.
Winnie looks around with wide eyes as tried to take in the new surroundings. It was a small dusty crowded shop. It's lights were dimmed and it appeared to be a place Lucius Malfoy would not frequent.
"What are we doing here?" She asks confused.
"Come." Lucius commands as he leads her out the door. As soon as she stepped outside she was bombarded with people running in either direction. No one bothered to say 'excuse me' or 'pardon me' or even attempt to move out of each other's way. One man had slammed into Winnie so hard she was knocked into the wall behind her. Lucius grabbed her hand and lead her through the tough crowd of people.
"Quite rude aren't they?" He notes as he drags her along. Winnie nods her head in response, but noticed he isn't looking at her, therefore wouldn't know she was responding at all.
"Yes." She says out-loud, not wanting to appear rude like the other people around then. He then pulls her around a corner to a less crowded street where she could collect herself properly.
"Mudbloods." He spat as Winnie fixed her curls. It was a word she would often hear her father use to describe people. Though, she was unsure if its meaning.
"Sir?" Winnie asks "what is a mudblood?"
"You're father never taught you about mudbloods?" Lucius asks surprised. Winnie sucks in her lips not wanting to seem ignorant.
"Father never really teaches me things. I read them." She explains herself.
"A mudblood is something very different than you and me. A mudblood is a wizard that is born from muggles. Dirty little creatures they are." Lucius has sounded as though he could throw up at the thought.
"Well-" Winnie began timidly "what is wrong with that? And, how do you know they're all mudbloods?" She asked genuinely curious how he knew. Lucius's demeanor changed drastically. He had seemed to redirect his distain towards Winnie.
"Don't speak girl." He commands as he grabs her arm harshly and pulls her down the alleyway.
Winnie looked around as her legs tried to keep up with the man. She tried to read all the shops signs and logos to get a better understanding of what they were doing here, but the only one she could make out was the one Lucius had stopped in front of. In big red letters the sign read "Ollivander's". A place she had never heard of.
She wanted to ask what they were doing, but he had commanded her not to speak. So, she thought it best to remain quiet. When her parents would tell her not to speak sometimes she would wait days until they finally acknowledged her and allowed her to talk once again. It had been something she grew quite used to, therefore proved to not be too difficult.
Once inside the shop Winnie noticed walls upon walls coved in wands her eyes widened at the sight as she had never seen so many wands in one place before. In fact, she had only ever seen her parents wands in occasion. They were usually quiet secretive with them though. Never really allowing her to see any magic they performed.
"Hello, Lucius." Said an old man that sat behind a large wooden desk. "Who do we have here?" Winnie stood there awkwardly as the man inquired her name. Though, she did not want to speak until given strict permission as she was just told to be quiet.
"Girl." Lucius said as he smacked her back with his cain. She let out a smell yelp as the wood made contact with her clothed skin.
"I-I am Winnie Rose." She introduces herself.
"Winnie Rose?" The man repeats "I'm not familiar with the 'Rose' family?"
"Oh- uh- no Winnie Rose is my first name." She began "My full name is Winnie Rose Elway."
"Ah! Elway! My it's been years since I've heard that name! Not since you-know-who was defeated." The man exclaimed. Winnie rose a brow in confusion. What did that have to do with her parents?
"Yes, yes, yes we know. Now I am here to get this girl a Wand." Lucius chimed in changing the discussion.
"Yes of course." The old man says as he stand from his chair. "Come here girl. Let me get a good look at ya." He says. Winnie quickly obliges and rushed over to the man. He scans her face for a moment before turning towards a small shelf besides him. He slowly picks up a rather small wand and hands it to her.
"Hold this." He tells her. She reaches out and grabs the wood only for the wand to instantly shoot itself out if her hand. "Whoa!" Yelled the man at the sudden movement "never seen one reject someone so fast. Okay okay, no unicorn hair for you." The man then goes back to looking at his shelf and grabbing a much larger wand "how about this one?"
"It's big." Winnie says as she reaches our nervously to grab it. Hoping this one didn't explode also. As soon as her hand touched the wood a sudden heat filled her finger tips "it's warm-" she began "its hot! It's hot!" She yelled as she dropped the wand. The old man shakes his head.
"Huh, no Phoenix feather either, didn't think so anyway."
"Stop wasting time then." Lucius demands irritated. The old man only nods and waves him off.
"Wait-" He says suddenly. He then turns and faces Winnie once more with an intense look in his eye "it couldn't be.... could it?"
"Huh?" She wonders slightly scared and confused. The old mans spun around and headed towards the back of his shop before coming back with another smaller wand. He hold out his hands and gives it to Winnie, who hesitates when she grabs the final wand. And, to her relief, it neither explodes or burns her.
"How does it feel?" He asks eagerly. Winnie twirls the wand around for a moment before answering.
"I like it. I think."
"Larch Wood." He says "Dragon heartstring Core."
"Dragon heartstring?" Asks Lucius unconvinced "are you sure?"
"Made it myself."
"Huh." Lucius huffs "maybe you are a Slytherin."
Winnie spins around with a small smile but before she can speak the door swung open behind Lucius. Everyone in the room looks over to be met with a child around Winnie's age standing in the doorway. He possesses the same light blonde hair as Lucius, and the same pointy nose and chin. Only with a less subtle smile.
"Father." The boy speaks "I thought that was you. Me and mother have been looking for you all over the place."
"Draco come here." Lucius snaps his fingers. Draco quickly comes to his fathers side "l'd like you to meet Winnie Rose." Draco looks you up and down. Seemingly unsure if what to think.
"Hello." Draco Greets slightly standoffish. "My name is Draco."
"Hi." Winnie says "I am Winnie Rose Elway."
"You're the Elways daughter?" Draco asks as if he knows you. You raise a brow in confusion.
"Yes, Draco." Lucius confirms "Winnie I have asked Draco to accompany you to Hogwarts. That way neither of you will be going alone. It is his first year also."
"Yeah. Hopefully you get put in Slytherin because I am definitely going to be in Slytherin and I can't be hanging around anyone who's not." Draco says snobbishly.
"Why not?" Winnie asks confused.
"Pshhh." Draco laughed "haven't your parents taught you anything? I know our parents were good friends. And my dad always told me Slytherin are the best."
"That's Enough Draco." Lucius silences him "now lets go get you guys your pets so we can get the hell out of this dingy alleyway."
"Yeah Winnie, come on." Repeats Draco as the two blonde turn and head for the door. Winnie looks down at her new wand momentary before lifting herself up and eagerly rushing out the door behind them.

Draco Malfoy x OC
Chapter One
Rosebud
October 31st, 1991
The day was cloudy and the air had a thick fog from the previous week of nonstop rain. The sun did not peek out from the clouds more than a few moments at a time. It was humid and hot from the now ending summer. Her curly blonde hair had begun to frizz up from the moisture. Sweat from the heat coated her forehead. Yet, her mother insisted she try on her new robes.
She knew that when mother had told her to do something, it meant that it would be done. No matter how much the extra clothes had weighed her down and stuck to her skin. She knew that as the house elf, Baylee, dressed her and her mother's eyes glared at every inch of her body that she had done something wrong despite not complaining about the heat. Even if she did not know what offense she did, her mother was sure to explain.
"You've gotten fat." Her mother said calmly. Though her voice was low and controlled the tone itself was enough to make her skin crawl. She looked down at her body, and noted how much it had changed in just this short summer. She had gotten bigger. A few months ago Baylee had explained to her how her body would go through changes shortly. That was after she was punished for bleeding in her new sheets.
"I haven't been eating any more than usual." She said back quietly, afraid of arguing with her mother. Her eyes were downcast and afraid.
"Winnie Rose." Her mother called. Winnie looked up to meet her hollow blue eyes. "You must eat less then. If you're getting this fat off your normal diet then maybe we've been feeding you to excess."
"Yes, mother." Winnie let out a soft gasp as Baylee pulled on her bra strap tightly. She still wasn't used to wearing the wiring. It had poked and pulled at her skin in the most uncomfortable ways.
"When you go to Hogwarts I expect you to not indulge yourself like all the other goblins there." She spat as she said the word 'goblin'. Momentarily Winnie wondered if she had meant real goblins, or just the other children. She assumed it had been the ladder "No snack trolleys and no big feasts. We can't have you bringing shame on our house by ballooning up like some kind of troll."
Winnie suckled on her bottom lip, something she had done often when nervous. So much so that it had been cracking from the saliva. She looked back down to the hardwood floors as Baylee wrapped her in her final robe. The black silk fabric hung loosely on her sweater and threatened to fall to the ground as it was too long and heavy.
"Fix yourself up." Her mother commanded "before your father sees." Winnie wrapped the robe around her tightly as her mother twirled around towards the door. Baylee took a step back allowing Winnie to move past her into the hallway.
The deep dark mahogany walls lined the long corridor of their home. The only home she had ever known. Yet, it all seemed to cold and unwelcoming even after all these years. They passed her fathers office, which was empty. A sight she had rarely seen. Another house elf of theirs was cleaning the books on the shelves. He glared at her as she walked by the open door. Winnie looked away as soon as they made eye contact.
Her mother led her down the grand staircase and into the main hall of their home. She could hear her father speaking to somebody in the kitchen. Which was surprising to her. They rarely had guests. Though her parents were well known in the wizarding world, they seemed to speak to very little people. In fact, Winnie didn't have any friends besides Baylee, who often didn't speak to her either.
The black and white marble floors of the kitchen echoed their footsteps at her and her mother made their way in. She heard the two voices immediately stop speaking as soon as their presence was known. Winnie tried to peek around her mother to see who her father could possibly be talking to, but as soon as she got a glimpse of long blonde hair she hid behind her mother once more.
"Winnie." Her mother said lowly. Winnie tensed up. Her mother turned around to face her "be polite and greet our guest." Hesitantly, Winnie leaned back over and nodded in the mans direction.
"Hello." She greeted nervously. Winnie's mother grabbed the back of her shirt and pushed her forwards in front of her. Winnie straightened up her back to appear taller and more proper like her parents had taught her. The man let out a soft chuckle at her odd behavior.
"Hello, Winnie Rose." The man smiled back coyly. Winnie's eyes widened slightly when the man said her whole first name. Usually only her mother and father addressed her that way when they were angry. She had wondered if she had done something to anger the man.
"Winnie you remember Lucius Malfoy." Her father insisted. Winnie nodded immediately, though she had not remembered the man. His long blonde hair did seem familiar, as did his long scary face. But, she couldn't remember a time she had actually seen him.
"Vincent she was just a child last time I saw her, I'd be shocked if the girl actually remembered me." Lucius exclaimed, still wearing that smile that seemed a little off to Winnie "it's been far too long since I've visited you guys. My oldest and dearest friends." The man did not take his eyes off her as he spoke. Not until he shifted his gaze towards her mother "Darcy, it's a pleasure to see you again."
"It has been quite a while." Darcy agrees, ignoring his pleasantries "why are you here now?" She asks suspiciously. Lucius wears an amused smile as he turns to look back over to Winnie's father.
"You haven't told her?" He asks with a laugh. Winnie's father let out a slightly annoyed sigh, one she had heard often while speaking to him. Both her and her mother were now looking at the two men curiously.
"She is going with Lucius to Hogwarts." Vincent explained. Fear filled your body as your eyes darted between the two men. "I thought it best for us not to show our faces there."
"I was going to have Dobby take her." Darcy said "but, if you prefer this than so be it."
"You were going to have a house elf take her to Hogwarts?" Asked Lucius amused by the thought. Darcy let out a small huff.
"Better than have us do it." She said "too many people, too many questions. I have no time to speak with any of those ghouls."
"You have both been tucked away since the Ministry questioned us all." Lucius noted "I am too often asked about you guys, I never know what to tell people."
"As I said. Too many people, too many questions." Her mother repeated "goodbye Lucius." She said in her usual monotone voice. Her eyes look down at you momentarily, before turning away and leaving the room. Winnie's mouth opened to say goodbye to her, but thought it best to stay quiet.
"Winnie." Her father called in a harsh tone. She instantly turn around and meet his intimidating blue eyes. The same eyes as hers, but filled with more anger.
"Yes, sir."
"I have one task for you, and only one" he demands. She nods her head to allow him to know she is listening closely "You are to be placed in Slytherin."
"Do I have a choice?" She asks quickly, wanting desperately to please her father. He snarled at her words but did not take his piercing eyes off of her.
"You will know when the time comes and you are sorted. Until then, you remember all the books I gave you to read on the house of Slytherin?" He asked her. She nods her head hastily. "Good. Then you shall be placed in Slytherin."
She wanted to tell him that she hadn't fit the description of the famous Wizards she read about in all those books about Slytherin. Those Wizards- they had all been so cunning. That was the word they always used to describe them. Cunning. Winnie wasn't cunning. Resourceful, maybe. But, not cunning. She wasn't, well, she wasn't really anything in her eyes.
Often times when she would lie awake at night past her bedtime, she wondered what kind of Wizard she was. What kind of person she was. Truthfully, she didn't know. To her, she was whatever her parents wanted her to be, and nothing more. Even then, she had only ever disappointed then. So, she wasn't even really that. To her she was no one. To her parents she was no one. To the world, and the word especially, she was no one.
