damian has to be the funniest batkid because he looked back on all the crazy bullshit all his older siblings did during their rebellious phases like going on murderous rampages, running away to strike out alone as a vigilante in a different city, becoming a crime lord, and then proceeded to accurately predict ‘what can i do to top that and actually freak Batman out?’ and immediately applied for medical school.

It's been a hot minute since I was into like anything DC related, but consider an fanfic AU where Ra's is dead. Like dead for real. Or dead as in, probably. Who knows?

But he leaves behind a diaries. Scribbles of a mad man who lost his mind in the Lazarus Pits. Scrolls of former memories. Maps of his former conquests. Mementos. There's a study which not many people have been in apart from Athanasia, because Ra's himself has forgotten it.

Athanasia reads his diaries. His works, his scrolls. She's the twin who isn't Damian. She's born like a few minutes away from him, hidden away from her brother, and her existence is kept from all but Ra's and her mother. Tucked away from the world. A secret. A whisper. Talia's beloved daughter.

She's a voracious book worm, and traveler, and catalogues history of the League of Assassins and her Grandfather's travels, and she has a hand-picked group of assassins (by Talia, sworn into secrecy) who travel with her, and they keep the League politically relevant with her negotiation skills and intelligence.

Her favorite thing to do is investigate ruins and areas that are relevant to Ra's.

Consider the fact that when Grandfather's dead, Nyssa and her mother are battling over the league, and she'll do everything to help her mum.

So she spreads a lie in the league and their political allies that Nyssa is incapable of leading the league, and builds a certain lack of confidence. Nyssa is furious. She's trying to figure out who did this.

(Because she doesn't know about Athanasia's existence.)

The organization of the league start to lose their faith in Nyssa as a leader, as Athanasia plots, and Talia fears for her daughter's life. Because she doesn't want her in this bloody feud between sisters. But Athanasia loves her mother too much.

So she insists that Athanasia stay out of it. Nyssa finds out about her. She gets exposed as Talia's daughter. But that does nothing for the rest of the league, as most factions respect her.

The factions themselves are in division. Those that support Nyssa and those that support Talia.

Talia fears for her daughter's life.

And the greatest detective in the world, who has his eyes peeled in the region, is looking at one of the most politically powerful figures in the league, who is holding Nyssa and Talia's feud at a dead-lock due to her influence.

His daughter.

And Damian realizes he has a sister, who was hidden from him while he was at the league.

And there is a great threat to her life. So Dad swoops in with Damian, and Athanasia doesn't want to leave with her Father who she barely knows, clinging onto her mother.

"I cannot let you be killed by Nyssa!"

And Talia has to make a hard decision. She cannot see her daughter as a political asset, the way her father saw her. She loves her too much for it.

It's a weakness that Nyssa will exploit. But Talia loves her children.

Bruce's heart breaks, because he too doesn't understand why Talia would keep his own daughter from him. Damian is horrified and upset and angry at his mother, but she needs to be safe right now.

So off to Gotham city she goes without Talia, and she keeps trying to unsuccessfully break out, only to be stopped.

And Athanasia slowly develops a friendship with Alfred of all people, who makes food familiar to her. And he talks to her about home, and her culture. And

She doesn't like this, so he introduces her to the Wayne family.

And Bruce lets Talia write to her. Things have cooled down in the league somewhat. Damian and Athanasia do not talk, because either he's being awkward or she doesn't care. And he's too busy with his teen titan things or robin things, while also anger at his mother for keeping his sister from him.

(What if he and Athanasia were a repeat of Nyssa and herself? What was she thinking?!)

She's too busy scrolling things which are familiar to her... her grandfather's journals and scribblings which she's put in her tablet. And bits and notes, and feeling all together like she misses the sandy landscape.

She also develops an awkward relationship with her father, as he tries not to interrogate her too much, but she knows he wants to know things. So she tells him whatever is relevant.

Bruce is not okay. It's not quite like Damian. She isn't picking fights. She isn't mouthy. She's just cool, calculated, and hoping to return back to normalcy. But also miserable.

And he can't offer her that. He doesn't want to... one day fight his own daughter. It's part of his deal with Talia.

His daughter travelled all her life, through deserts, through grime and dust, and she hates this sense of normalcy that Bruce wants to offer. She dresses like Talia the most. She likes being neat and put together... a habit from her days of political negotiations with her mother. She misses entering historical ruins on her own. She misses the faction of hand-picked fighters.

The other members of the bat family other than Alfred... she gets along best with awkward Cassandra, who somehow understands her more than her own flesh and blood. (Maybe her own mother and father are involved in this mess too.)

She hasn't met all of them to be honest.

But apart from Alfred, most of the family are just flabbergasted that Bruce had a daughter, Damian had a twin, and this girl with her extremely neat appearance (since she dresses like her mum) drove the political factions of the league against Nyssa. She's frightfully intelligent and aloof and introverted and not used to peers her age.

And Athanasia finds herself more interested now in the politics and history... of Gotham city's villain factions...

...and the handprints of the league of Assassins in them... leading her back to her aunt as the main villain for her mother's sake.

This is the greatest conclusion to her grandfather's work, yet to be written about their family after all.

You know those posts about one of Bruce’s kids getting kidnapped and him having no idea which kid they have based on the vague descriptions he’s given? Well now I can’t only imagine Bruce getting the dreaded call and immediately pulling out a guess who board filled entirely with his kids. Like

kidnapper: we have one of your children

Bruce: I have so many of those you need to be more specific

kidnapper: the loud and annoying one

Bruce, flipping down Cass and Duke: that does not help as much as you think it does

kidnapper: well he has black hair?

Bruce, flips down Steph: keep going

kidnapper: uhhhh? He’s short?

Bruce, flips down Dick and Jason leaving Tim and Damian: more specific

kidnapper: he’s been condescending and judgmental since we got him

Bruce: yeah they both tend to do that

kidnapper: he keeps throwing around words I don’t understand

Bruce, realizing that Damian and Tim are significantly more similar than he thought: uhh more specific?

kidnapper: more?? look just wore us the mon— WHERE’D HE HIDE A KATANA???

Bruce: ah you have Damian

Big fan of Damian unpacking lores that aren't even exclusive to the LoA. Like, the BatFamily thought that they helped him (they didn't) but then they realized that they may have unintentionally exposed him to the same stuff, just in different fonts.
