Here is my original artwork zine about queer and trans monsters, creatures, and cryptids! It features the works of over 35 artists from around the world (5 continents???) and it clocks in at SIXTY (60!!) pages cover to cover. We made this zine as a way to raise funds for my top surgery so if you want to get a copy, I’ll be launching it Sunday, September 10 below. Shares deeply appreciated. 🖤

Your platforms and work are an incredible resource, thank you for having so much out there for free. Considering that you’re friends/coworkers with other folks in the art/reference world, do you know a good place/blogger/site to get poses for male bodies?

Happy to help you network! 🌟 My male only poses are filtered into a DA archive folder and should be tagged in my new site's WIP gallery. The male(ish) pose ref providers I can think of right now (brain unreliable!) include: 🔵 @null-entity - mostly clothed but some unclothed/NSFW stuff (usually kept fairly separate from main account), some costumed stuff 🔵 theposearchives - don't think they are on tumblr, male and female duo sometimes with solo images, usually clothed (though sometimes barely ;D) 🔵 @newdmodel - as one may expect from the name, Babs is nude. Babs is also nonbinary but has a masc presenting body re: reference 🔵 @posemuse - drawn references sometimes with stylization but def has male refs 🔵 Skydancer-Stock - sadly left us a few years ago but his extensive DA gallery includes many self portraits if you need a wizardly looking old fella 🔵 stockingbird on DA, nude 🔵 justmeina - on DA mostly nude some mixed gender 🔵 Ahrum-Stock - black model on DA, clothed sometimes fully 🔵 themalenudestock - very naked 🔵 daestock on DA, costumed usually but not always fully 🔵 mostlyguystock - on DA, clothed in briefs 🔵 jademacalla - on DA, classic Bond-type action stuff mostly clothed I hope that helps get you going!

Queer Horror / Alt Culture Zine coming in early 2023! The first edition is all about loving monsters, and you can find submitted artwork as well as articles about the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Bride of Frankenstein, as well as a tribute to Millicent Patrick, Theda Bara, and Guillermo del Toro. I’m accepting submissions for sketches through December 1st!

as a graphic designer one of the most interesting things about the original 1973 Goncharov is how the concept art for the movie poster evolved. 

one of my favorite versions makes reference to the Cathedral of the Saviour on Spilled Blood from the opening scene:

one of the earliest iterations included a subtle nod to the homoerotic subtext of the film. the pride flag as a queer symbol was only just emerging in the 1970s so the shading on Goncharov’s lapel was a representation the artist hoped would be niche enough to fly under censorship radar.

as you can see in later editions, drafting artists focused more on form than color, as the film’s producers wanted to avoid overt queer symbolism. Screen printing was of course a common technique during this time and lent itself to the more bold designs you often see from early concepts. The limited color pallet was cheaper to print.
