Prompt #73

Character A is fighting with Character B who is under some sort of mind control. During the fight, Character B lands a hard hit to Character A’s side. Once snapped out of the mind control, A doesn’t reveal how hard the blow was and continues on. B is overjoyed to be back to their senses and wants to reunite with their family/team. A tags along of course and as the pain starts to intensify, takes a step out to gather themselves only to collapse due to the internal bleeding sustained. B finds them and is horrified at being the cause of such a devastating injury.

Bonus if B is a stronger character than A and their physical strength is prominent to everyone.

Bonus 2x if they are lovers, crank up the guilt.

Prompt #72

Character A through an unknown circumstance, starts to lose their vision. Not being able to handle it well and being embarrassed they can’t do everything they used to they start lashing out to hide the fact they can’t see well and are afraid. Unknown to their friends, they laugh at character A’s clumsiness and occasional stumbles. Character A’s vision is practically gone at night or in darkness and while on a walk they just stop since they have no idea where or what they’re walking into and has to confess to who they’re with that they need help.

Bonus points if that’s their partner who has been starting to suspect it but waited for Character A’s confession.

Prompt #71

Character A suffers a head injury and unbeknownst to them are experiencing delusions. Paranoid and with a false sense of reality, they start reacting accordingly. Other characters can’t seem to understand why they’re so on edge all the time and acting standoffish and aggressive.

Bonus points if they start to fear their partner or hear the voice of someone close to them that died

After an unfortunate event, character A suffers some mental and/or physical issues that start to hinder their work. Their partner/confidant slowly watches as they lose their passion for X thing. The last thing they had sought comfort in no longer is effective enough to keep them going. Character B watches as Character A struggles to much with their issues to find peace in their past hobbies.

All that remains is slashed canvases, torn song books or that fixer upper car that’s engine is in pieces still.

I don’t know a lot about life, but one of the worst feelings I’ve felt, is having no idea what I want to do with my life and what direction it will go. For some reason I think a lot of you feel the same. I, I just feel like I’m going to make the wrong choice. How can I pick just one thing… ya know?

Reminders for new ao3 users (in no particular order):

- filter your searches like you would on a library website or in an online catalogue

- don’t post placeholders, fic searches, or recommendations as fics. DON’T! It’s against ao3 TOS

- there is no algorithm. ao3 sorts by date posted/updated unless you filter with specific search criteria

- ao3 is a non profit. that means it doesn’t sell ads to make money — it only survives on donations. this is why it can show you so many fics without ever flashing an ad or pop up at you!

- report fics that break TOS when you see them (I.e., placeholder fics, searches) to help other users navigate better

- the tag “dead dove, do not eat” doesn’t equate to gore/awfulness automatically. it is a complementary tag that enhances current tags. E.g., if the fic is tagged “gore” and “dead dove, do not eat” the author really wants you to mind the gore tag

- most fandoms have a variation of “no beta, we die like (x character)” and they all link back to the “No beta” tag

- publishing a new fic sometimes means it won’t show up in the fandom/pairing tag for a few minutes

- subscribers receive update emails at different times, depending on when you update/publish your fic. there’s no good way to predict when an e-mail will be sent — it can be in 30 seconds, or two hours later

- some fics are restricted by authors to those with ao3 accounts only. if you see a blue lock in the upper right corner, that fic is only visible to logged in ao3 users

- you can block commenters now! this didn’t use to be a thing

- updating a fic just to stay at the top of the pairing tag/fandom tag is a dick move. unless you’re legitimately editing or adding chapters, this just annoys readers and fellow authors, and people will skip over your fic

Hey! Thank you for the request. I don’t really know what the character you are writing would do or not so here are some options. Let me know if you need anything else!

• Flatlining and the scramble to restart their heart

• depending on the character maybe they’re crying/panicking or contrary they’re just ready for the pain to end and sitting quietly

• grip on their friend/significant other getting looser

• bouts of in and out of consciousness

• death bed confessions

• lethargic character

• fever induced nightmare

• malfunctioning powers if any

• talking friend or SO out of or into revenge

��not being able to talk and/or only being able to make moans/groans

• pain induced confusion

• coughing/vomiting blood

• having to be restrained as to not hurt themselves

A character who believes that all their worth comes from their work ethic is extremely overworked. They’re overworked to the point of physical sickness. They do their best to prevail and maintain their composure. Maybe it was the fact they haven’t been able to keep any food down since the night before, or the debilitating migraine. Well, whatever it was led to them passing out right in front of their friends/supervisor/boss. Panic ensues while their friends/supervisor/boss scrambles in an attempt to catch them. After a lot of hurt/Fluff, they finally have the talk that they’re more important than their work….more fluff, and maybe more hurt.

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

Definitely! Funny enough, the bit I'm proudest of is what I did for my weird necrophilia fic, where I had to figure out what reasoning there could be for cultivation sects to have to have sex with the recently dead - it was in response to a Kink Meme prompt. I had to jump through a few mental hoops, but I found a justification that could make it all work - all so I could put poor Nie Huaisang through absolute hell.

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

I follow a few prompt Tumblrs and the Kink Meme, so I often come across things that I would love to tackle but don't know if I ever will. But there's one in particular that's been germinating, and I hope to touch it one day. It reads as follows (from the @angsty-prompts-for-fics account): When a character is desperately trying to escape their past and rebuild themselves away from their corrupt family, a familiar face makes an unwelcome appearance. Forced to deal with this old ghost, they must open up to their team and relive their past to find a way to protect their future.

31. What’s your ideal fic length to write?

I usually don't think in advance how long I want a fic to be - the only exception is if I'm writing for a specific challenge or fest that has a word limit - but taking a peek at my own fics, it seems a good portion of mine fit within the 5k-8k range. In the end, it's whatever the story needs to be told :D

Prompts for characters that come back to life but they're really different than their s/o remembers them?

I love this! I just did some elements that you can apply towards the character to spice it up.

Hair color: so I’m thinking that maybe the resurrection process ends up bleaching part or all of their hair white. I’m kind of thinking of “freeze branding” that is done on cattle that kills the hair follicles and they only grow back white if you wanted some scientific reasoning. (Jason Todd is a good example of this)

Memory loss: maybe the character was resurrected without their memories and they take on a new identity and switch teams (ie villain to hero or hero to villain)

New abilities/disabilities: did they resurrection process leave them stronger or with new/altered abilities? Did the resurrection process cost anything to them? Do they now serve the one who raised them from the dead?

New purpose/ vendetta: I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the movie “the crow” but basically this guy and his fiancé gets murdered and a crow resurrects him for one night because the crow was like “that’s ain’t right” so he can go around and enact revenge. Maybe your character is going to avenge himself or someone.

There are so many elements to make a story that’s truly yours, especially with something that isn’t done a lot you should totally make it your own!!

Can I get prompts for a situation where someone has to kill someone they love - but its to help them?

I haven’t seen stranger things but I feel like this may be for it….

• character has to end their suffering when they’re s/o or bestie has fatal injuries

• omg their s/o begging them to do it “please, I can’t. It hurts too much!”

• they have to kill their s/o before a transformation takes place

• maybe they’ve been corrupt and lost themselves and they have to be killed to protect everyone else but they’re s/o has to do it

• or you can go full Star Trek and be like “the needs of the many out way the needs of the few” and have them be sacrificed to save everyone else.

• character who has no quality of life anymore begging they’re s/o. Maybe a “it’s selfish to keep me around just for yourself.” Line

• twisted Jigsaw like madman gives them a choice, kill ur s/o or watch your family/ team die

A younger character on a team who strives to prove their worth and use to the team sustains an injury. Originally they planned on seeking medical help; however, an older member on the team that they respect reaches out for their assistance, and well… they just can’t decline so they put it off a little longer. As much as the injury bothers them they can hide it pretty well and were able to distract themselves from the pain by keeping busy with their teams' demands. After about a week their injury catches up to them and in the middle of a briefing, they collapse. Panic ensues.
