as for ideas:

- dick gets injured and found by previous friends or family, the time away gives him time to actually recognize the situation

- one night, dick just.. has a thought. completely unbidden. whatever it is, it's enough to make him realize he has to get out. perhaps he contacts one of his friends, other rp blogs involved, to help him - maybe in what he deems a moment of weakness?

- friends contacting dick have finally worn him down enough to actually let them in, starting him back to a healthier mindset and perspective

- if another blog has a big event that'd be enough to shake him, be a sort of wakeup call, you could use that, but it would be based on chance and could be frustrating for them if your reaction ended up taking attention away from the event itself, so it's not really ideal

- chances are, dick knows how to recognise victims of abuse, and some of the healthier options for dealing with that. maybe, after a while of seeing it in himself, he can't deny it anymore. maybe he's disconnected from himself and the situation enough to take those steps.

if you wanna do it slower, you can show him pulling away from slade and having less confidence in being renegade (maybe ditching the orange text at times to show that waver and back-and-forth? 👀). if you wanna do it faster, you can show him running to friends and family, potentially after disapearing for a while (but, since that would just be... not roleplaying, i didn't count it in the bulletpoints).

HI i have DID and i am SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!! you guys have some good ideas! :D

first, a correction: DID forms to deal with childhood trauma, yes, but alters (the different people in a system) don't have to individually form to deal with trauma - sometimes, there's no clear reason at all, and others, it's completely benign. alters can also form at any point in life, as long as someone's already a system.

so, i'd think batman would be a traumaholder and protector, both rather self-explanitory system terms. protector only means he protects his system, though - the protecting others is just his personality. i feel like he can remember most or all things, but he feels an extreme disconnect from what his headmates experienced. he also probably IS aware they're a system, even if he doesn't know the word, and has some control over who's fronting and what they remember.

brucie exists for multiple purposes! he forms to both fit in at galas and such, and to be a sort of stress relief. he doesn't have to be smart, think everything through - he can just have fun! he's a social alter :) later, though, he gains the role of keeping his civilian and vigilante identities seperate. he has strong memory barriers because of this, and is probably the last to learn they're a system.

bruce exists to get work done for wayne enterprises, and is only a fragment (essentially, not a "full alter") for a long time because of it. he only fronts for work! later, once dick comes around, he develops more of an identity and seperate conciousness, no longer being a fragment. that's when he becomes the more fatherly one of the system. he probably has limited access to memories - mostly civillian stuff and whatever he needs to understand his kids well enough, but also some limited vigilante knowledge for whenever he works on a case. he hasn't existed as long as brucie and batman.

i think brucie would be the host (the person in control most often) for a long time. once dick came around, bruce could take that role up instead, or, more likely, share it with brucie.

also, the kids calling them all "b" isnt just their version of calling him dad! it also works if they're just entering a room and don't know who's fronting yet, or if they're co-concious.

speaking of - what @skrongldoodle mentioned of multiple alters awake at once is called being co-concious! if alters start to sort-of merge, or the lines between them become unclear, that's called blurring. ve gave a really good description!

i think bruce co-fronts with batman when working on cases from the cave. he's there to do that work, after all! that's why he gets some knowledge on cases. neither of them practices self-care. they could do with a caretaker (type of alter), really 😅

he could also switch in when one of the batkids are hurt on a mission. it'd make sense. he does not like it, but even if he could change it, he wouldn't - he wants to be there for his kids.

as for the party, i feel like they'd both be concious, but control would be split between them. batman would do most things, but occasionally brucie would say something or even get so caught up in a conversation he takes most of front. he'd also cause them to actually laugh and smile quite a bit, which would be super unnerving for the league.

also, it/its batman real?? thats SUCH a good idea, it so fits!
