Fresh off the work bench... The Shadow Work Pendant Light is at its most beautiful when mirrored by its dark. There is a lack of depth in some of the pop spirituality of today. It celebrates the light and pushes away the dark in an effort to be harmonious and positive. The truth is, what gets ignored gathers force much like pushing an object down into deep waters. The shadow is the part of us that carries all the traits we've been shamed out of. All of the darkness we've split away from. Everyone is different. For some, creativity lives there. For others, vulnerability, emotion, or love. It's when we give a seat at the table to the parts of us we don't like that we can know ourselves more fully. Where we can reclaim parts lost. In the psyche, things thrown out don't leave. Much energy is used to suppress them and much energy is trapped in them. This piece is meant to show the growth and beauty that can emerge from the dark. It celebrates the light and the dark instead of merely the brightest half. Quartz absorbs energy; a symbol for integrating the shadow aspects of ourselves. A black onyx moon shows that we have a dark source for light. The white flowers symbolize the growth we have potential for and the peacock ore helps align thoughts to emotions- helpful in shadow work. I once wrote a poem that said, the way you treat the poem before THE POEM is how you treat yourself. What I mean by the poems before are the several drafts that go a little something like this, "I miss her/him. Fuck my life in its entirety. I am a dried up pencil shaving." I'm talking about the poems we hate because they don't say what we mean. We don't know what we mean and we hate ourselves for not being poet enough. But we're wrong. We are always becoming. We have moments when parts of us became. These are our poems. But the rest of the time? We are in process. When we accept that we will write crap, something really amazing happens. We begin to write for the love of it and not for the output. We carve out a small space in society that says, I do not exist for product. I am not to be bought or sold. I am a writer. I chose roses for this line because they have symbolized secrecy since the Greek myths. The son of Aphrodite gave a rose to the god of silence in return for the safety of his mother's secrets. In the Middle Ages, a Rose suspended from the ceiling pledged all who were present to secrecy. Sub-rosa. This is latin for "under the rose"-an emblem for secrecy. The poems before are often what we keep private. They are our secrets-that we hurt and aren't beautiful about it. The wearer of this necklace honors the poems before by wearing sub rosa with the metal of action and manifestation. Write those poems. There is nothing more beautiful than seeking the truth- no matter how ugly. These pieces are meant to help you fall in love with your process. Writing is not for the faint of heart. It's for those of us who turn our cracks into roads home. I love this idea so much. I hope you guys do too. Details: One available. Being Time Pendant This wooden pendant was once a vintage pocket watch. I decided to give it over to the moon's schedule. It features the new moon, a time for beginnings. Time is something that rules most modern day thinking; how long something takes, how old we are, how much time we have to do x, y, and z, etc. It's simply too easy to forget that 9-5's, degrees, age and it's implications- these are man made constructs that take our focus away from our natural rhythm of being. Of human being. It's so ingrained in us that the thought of ticking to a different clock sounds mystical and like a waste of time. I made this piece as a reminder that we go through phases that modern living doesn't account for. When we ignore (I'm guilty of this) our own beginnings and ends in favor of the ones imposed on us, at the very least, we get anxious. At the worst, we lose ourselves. Whether you are interested in the seasons, the moon's phases, the ebb and flow of creativity- whatever your heart ticks to, don't forget to check the time. I used black tourmaline for the night sky in this pendant because it's the ultimate grounding stone. It's recommended for anxiety. The pyrite stars symbolize action. We have to try to find our own rhythm. Our default setting was chosen for us. And, chalcedony. Selene & The Sea Locket This week, I'll be releasing pendants from the Lunar Collection I've been working on. This is the first! 🌙 This piece holds the oldest love story. I have sometimes said that it isn't romantic. That the ocean is pulled by something it can never touch. But I've learned that each romantic relationship in this life has its own special harmony. Sometimes, only those in it can be pulled to understand it. I used an onyx moon in this locket because onyx is a protective stone and helps maintain harmony in romantic relationships. Chalcedony was used for the sea because it brings mind, body, and emotions into harmony. Pyrite was used because it is the stone of manifestation. Lockets are secrets in plain sight. And this one holds Selene and the Sea. Their love.
