An Unwanted Encounter
( Secret Santa For : @Thinkingboutpurplethings )
(Sorry it’s late! It just took longer to write than expected!)
*Takes place between Little Wolf and Love in Paradise*
┊ ˚➶ 。˚ ┊ ˚➶ 。˚ ┊ ˚➶ 。˚ ┊ ˚➶ 。˚ ┊ ˚➶ 。˚ ┊ ˚➶ 。˚
Telemachus opened his eyes as sunlight seeped through the window in his bedroom. He could hear maids and servants rustling with supplies, chatting with each other, and the faint sound of kitchen staff preparing food. He sat up in his bed, rubbing his eyes open as a faint chirping sound caught his attention. At his window, was the goddess Athena. Her owl was fluffy, with gold fur on her stomach, the rest a mix of different browns. The prince approached her, a smile on his face as she happily chirped at him.
“Good morning, Telemachus.” Athena spoke in his mind.
“Hello Athena, what brings you here?” Telemachus scratched under her beak.
“I’m simply here to tell you about the suitors.” Athena got serious suddenly. “They aren’t planning anything good with you nor your mother. I need you to fight for the two of you, even your father.”
Telemachus frowned as he looked outside. Palace guards kept suitors in check as they tried to get close to Penelope and a few female servants.
“I couldn’t beat Antinous in a fight, even with your help. How can you expect me to take them down?” Athena fell silent.
“I promise, I will keep you safe.” She assured as she settled herself on the prince’s shoulder. “I do have to help train you, as you said, you aren’t ready.” Athena tilted her head as she looked the prince up and down. Telemachus chuckled as he awkwardly scratched the back of his head.
“I haven’t had a chance to get ready yet . . .”
——
Athena had Telemachus wear a weak set of armor as she sat on his shoulder. “You need to get better at your form, that’s your biggest issue as of now.” Athena flew off his shoulder, coming to her form. She was tall, ginger hair with waves and blue armor. She handed the prince a long sword.
“Show me how you would normally stand.” Telemachus demonstrated his stance. “No, your left foot should be your leading foot and your right foot is back.” Telemachus adjusted himself. Athena stood in front of him.
“Face me, act as if I’m your opponent.” Telemachus nodded as he did as he was previously told. “Have your hips face me, they must always face your opponent. On top of that, you’re holding your sword too high.” Athena lowered his arms. “It should be held at shoulder level,”
The goddess was stern with the boy, but not once did she insult or ridicule him. She made sure he understood each and every instruction before moving on. Telemachus found himself having a bit of fun with his mentor, she was kind to him and was a far cry from the suitors and some of the servants.
“What do we have here?”
Telemachus froze for a moment. He turned to see Antinous leaning against the door frame, at least two other suitors accompanied him. “What are you, training with an owl?” Antinous laughed. Telemachus looked at Athena, she was in her owl form.
“Don’t let him get to you, it isn’t worth it.” Athena warned the boy.
“Leave me alone, Antinous.” Telemachus turned away.
“What? I’d like to see what you’ve been teaching yourself.” Antinous grabbed a sword. He approached the prince, but couldn’t get close enough to him before—
“What’s going on?”
Penelope had been passing by with her two guards. She looked at the three suitors and her son; Penelope wasn’t pleased. Her veil covered her black hair, wrinkles sat softly below her eyes and the corners of her lips.
“Why, Queen Penelope, we’re simply helping your boy train.” One suitor attempted to excuse their behavior. Penelope approached, her guards close to her. Penelope looked around the room before her eyes set on Athena. She seemed to recognize the owl.
“I am asking you to leave my son alone, no need to raise a sword to him.” Penelope held her hands together.
Antinous sighed as he looked at his sword, Telemachus, and back at Penelope. “If I must,” He threw the sword to the ground. There was zero attempt to approach Penelope as the guards were on edge, not allowing the suitors to say another word to Penelope.
The queen watched as the three men left, Telemachus looked at Athena. He gave the owl an embarrassed look before his mother placed a hand on his shoulder. Her guards were stationed outside the room to give the two a moment alone. She gave him a soft smile as she looked at the goddess.
“I see you’ve returned,” Penelope felt her eyes tear up slightly. Athena chirped as she hopped off the stand she was once on, turning into her goddess form.
“Its a pleasure to see you once again, Lady Penelope.” Athena smiled at the Queen of Ithaca. Penelope looked at Telemachus and back at the goddess.
“Have you returned to my son? Do you know of my husband?” Penelope brought her hands to her chest, clasped together, pleading the goddess.
“I’ve come to mentor your son,” Athena smiled at Telemachus. “However, I am not to know the whereabouts of Odysseus.” It was the first time in a while that Athena had said his name.
Penelope frowned but took her son in her arms. “Please,” she begged the goddess. “At least look over my son.” She looked at Athena, tears in her blue eyes. Athena nodded as she bent down to Penelope’s height.
“I promise, I will.”
——
Odysseus sat on the beach, his beard unkempt as he refused to allow Calypso to tend to him. It had been seven years, his prayer to Athena felt unheard. It hurt Odysseus to think about his last moments with the goddess, the infant he dropped, the lives he took, all of it.
What would happen if that infant was his own son? What if he hadn’t argued with Athena? What if he sacrificed himself instead of his men?
What if . . ?
Calypso approached Odysseus from behind, dried tears staining her cheeks. She dropped a basket in front of him, not a word uttered from her mouth. Odysseus looked at her, he didn’t dare say anything.
“Someone arrived today, they said they’re taking you away . . .” She sucked in air through her teeth. “. . . that you aren’t mines to save.” She began to cry.
Her words began to blur together, muffled as Odysseus could only think of one thing.
‘Athena . . .’
His prayer had been answered.

If anything, Michael seems more like a morally gray character. He has his flaws, but he has good aspects too.
A Hidden Figure
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹ ⊹˚₊‧──────
I stated this in a previous post about Michael and his insecurities. I wanted to take a deeper dive into what I mean, and Michael’s character in general.
•The Mysterious Angel
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑ ⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
Michael is a character that has been mentioned since the beginning of the game, yet we haven’t seen him. Not only do I believe that this is intentional, I believe it’s a huge part of who Michael is and what he is like.
We know the basics of what his personality is like:
He loves sweets and Astronomy
He has a good fashion sense
Michael is prone to rambling
He can act childish at times
Tends to think selfishly at times
Is the opposite of Lucifer, visually at least
A bit of a sadist
He likes to collect souvenirs
He can be considered lazy
This is just to name the basics.
Michael hides himself and I believe it’s on purpose. At first, I thought it was just the devs being lazy and not wanting to introduce another character (might be true still). However, with everything that’s happened when Michael is in the picture, it seems to be apart of his character.
I spoke in my first post about Father being the reason for Michael’s insecure behavior, which I believe. Michael hides himself and it seems to be on purpose. I doubt devs would be go out of their way to make Michael hide behind light and another person’s body just for the sake of being too lazy to show him. I feel like that’s just more work for them than actually showing him would be. They wouldn’t do this if it wasn’t a cannon part of his character.
A character that hides himself and has been since the beginning of the game; it’s not simple laziness, it’s insecurity. Michael is a character that not only has insecure behavior, but to an extent, self loathing behavior.
Self Loathing VS. Insecurity
Self loathing and insecure behavior are similar, but two completely different things.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
Self Loathing: Extreme criticism of oneself; a constant belief or feeling of worthlessness, failure, inadequacy, and incompetence.
Insecurity: Uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; lack of confidence.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
While insecure behavior is expressed more as anxiety and uncertainty about oneself, self loathing behavior is essentially self hatred.
Michael is a character that is not only insecure, but arguably has self loathing behavior. This stems from him physically running from problems. However, the thing is, when Michael ran from Raphael, he was in his body. He wasn’t hiding behind someone else, or a blinding light. He was in his own body, facing another person. When he was in his own body, he ran away. He hides himself and even went as far as hiding behind someone else’s body to hide himself. There is no way Michael would be happy with himself. We learn that after the war, he felt immense guilt. If Father has any role in his insecure behavior, that might play a huge factor in his self loathing behavior. He is an insecure character, which is obvious. Never once showing himself, and ultimately running off when he did. This is insecure behavior on the surface. But, if one were to look between the lines, it can be seen as self loathing.
‿̩͙‿ ༺ ♰ ༻ ‿̩͙‿
Reading Between the Lines
When you delve deeper into each of our interactions with Michael, and what other characters say, his behavior could teeter on the self loathing side of things. This mainly stems from 3 things:
•Hiding himself every time we meet him
• The Ring of Light vs. The Ring of Wisdom
•Physically running away from conflict
If anything, the first and the third have potential to be related to each other. Michael hiding himself might be him avoiding conflict. Maybe conflict with his siblings, or even with God. Which leads to the second idea: Favoritism. God may have been the stepping stone leading to Michael’s self hatred. He favored Lucifer, and even though it’s said Michael is God’s most “loyal” he still favored Lucifer because he was (potentially still is) God’s definition of perfection.
Michael, God’s most loyal angel; the one who doesn’t question his father’s authority . . . isn’t the favorite? Being insanely loyal and devoting your life to someone, only to be pushed aside for your sibling that fell from grace. An entire war broke out, and everything fell on Michael. The blame, anguish, pain, and regret of the battle. The deaths and the loss of siblings had to have taken a toll on Michael as well, not only the demons brothers. Imagine that: choosing between the God you devoted your life to, or the family you love dearly. It’s not an easy decision to make.
The loss of siblings, favoritism, and the blame.
Michael was blamed for the brothers falling from grace. Sure, our focus should be on the brothers and how they dealt with it. But when we meet Angels, they always show remorse and regret of what happened. One major example I can think of is Raphael dreaming of the brothers returning to the Celestial Realm. Raphael, Michael’s closest confidant, wishes they were back in the Celestial Realm. If Raphael wishes that, imagine what Michael wants?
When everything is added together, Michael doesn’t sound like a villain. He sounds like another victim. I wouldn’t be shocked if characters in game also view him as some sort of villain, which would contribute to Self-Loathing behavior in Michael.

This is a random-nothing-makes-sense-thought and I’ve had it for a while now -_-
In the Wisdom Saga, we get “Little Wolf” and everyone calls Telemachus “Little Wolf”.
In the Ocean Saga, in Ruthlessness we get, “Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now”.
In that case, Poseidon is calling the crew “wolves” that includes Odysseus.
Do both of them being called “Wolf” at one point or another have any relation? Like, is it to show that Telemachus is the child of Odysseus? It’s a stupid thought, but it’s been bugging me for a while now.

A little Michael and Lucifer Drabble I wrote a while back but never got around to posting:
——
Michael paced around his bedroom as he finally realized what he had agreed to. His heels sharply turned to side to side and his pace picked up. He pulled on his blonde curls that were shoulder length. His blue eyes frantically looked around the room, trying to understand what he had agreed to.
“I just agreed with Father . . . to kill my own family.” He cried as he fell to his knees. He knew his Father was the supreme leader, but what was obeying him worth when he would betray his own family?
“Why would I agree to such a thing?” He questioned himself. At the same time, how could he not listen? It was an order from the one who made him, the one who gave him life. Why would he not listen? If he didn’t listen . . . what would happen to him? Michael didn’t want to entertain that thought for much longer. It’s not like he could, anyway, as someone knocked at his door.
“Michael?” Lucifer spoke on the other side of the door.
No . . . No . . .
“Are you alright? You’ve been in your room since you met with Father.”
No . . . No . . . No . . .
Michael couldn’t open the door.
Lucifer’s knocking continued, worried for his brother. Michael never spent all day in his room, so why now? What changed?
“I know you’re in there, so just open the door please, or, at the very least respond to me.”
No . . .
“Please, Michael, you’re worrying me. Even other angels have noticed your absence. I tried to leave you alone, but I can’t.”
The thought have having to harm Lilith brought more tears to Michael’s eyes. More came down at the thought of Lucifer’s reaction when he would inevitably find out.
Eventually, Lucifer stopped knocking. Michael couldn’t hear him at the other end anymore. He wiped his face as he heard one final, gentle knock.
“Michael?” Raphael spoke at the other end. The elder gasped, sharp enough for Raphael to hear. “Lucifer sent me, since apparently you’re refusing to talk.”
“I’m fine, Raphael.” Michael’s words came out more shaky than he expected. Raphael stood silent, but Michael knew his cover had been blown. Raphael knew and Michael hated it. The thought of his younger brother hearing him cry, potentially seeing it if he opened the door. How could he be weak at a time like this? How could he look at the people he would betray? Michael held his head in his hands, leaning forward as he tried to silence his cries. He wanted to silence every thought.
“Why does it have to be me that commits the act?”

Michael and God
Something I’ll bring up in a future post is: Michael being God’s most loyal angel, yet not being the favorite. This isn’t proven, but it really just begs the question of: “Why?” I get it, the most loyal don’t always have to be the favorite, but still. Lucifer was (most likely) made in God’s image of perfection. Yet, most believe that Michael is the eldest.
So, why not make Michael the definition of perfection? Why not make him the most beautiful thing to exist? Why make him the most loyal, if loyalty isn’t included in your definition of perfection? It just continues to bring up the same question: “Why?” If Michael is the eldest, why not start out with making him perfect? If he’s supposed to be your most loyal angel, why isn’t loyalty included in your image of perfection? Why is it that the one that fell from your grace, is the one you consider to be prefect? Lucifer fell. Say all you want about him, but he fell from God’s grace. Yet, it’s still mentioned that he’s the Morningstar. What about Michael? The one who stood by God’s side, the one who still obeys him, doesn’t make the cut when it comes to perfection. It shouldn’t be that the one who fell from God’s is still the Morningstar. Yeah, sure, Lucifer’s name means “bearer of light”, but Michael’s name means, “who is like god?” To me, Michael’s name should mean more to God. But, it doesn’t seem that way. Only the Morningstar matters to everyone. But again,“Why? Why is Lucifer the one everyone talks about? Why not Michael? Why doesn’t Michael have a nickname like Lucifer? Why did Michael have to take on the burden of casting out his own siblings? Why couldn’t God do it? He’s literally God. Why did his children have to fight a battle for rebelling against rules he made? Why couldn’t God step in? Why did it have to be Michael?
Why?
It continues to bring up the same question over and over again. Yet, there are no answers. Michael took the burden of casting out his family, not God. The war was most likely caused by God not wanting Lilith’s actions to go unpunished. So why not have him handle the situation? Why let a full fledged war break out when he could’ve easily stepped in? What did God do? Did he sit back on his throne and watch everything play out? Did he expect something terrible to come out of it? Did he know? He’s God, he made everything. Does that mean he knew what would happen because it’s how he created it? If God has made any actions at all; were they intentional?
This just makes me ask more questions.
Lucifer fell from God’s grace, yet he’s God’s definition and image of perfection. Michael stood by his side, he stood loyal; yet he isn’t included in God’s image of perfection. If loyalty isn’t included in what makes one perfect in God’s eyes, then what is? Sin? Falling from Heaven? There’s no way. I get it, it was for his sister. But is that version of loyalty and love more important to God? So much more important that Lucifer is still praised for being the Morningstar while his most loyal angel and soldier sits on the sidelines; him too, believing that Lucifer is absolutely perfect. It doesn’t make sense.
The unexplained lore about the CR is scratching my brain in all the bad yet good ways.

I was going to draw him, but I don’t have the time right now, so here’s my take on what I think Michael might look like.
For the longest, I wasn’t following the long hair trend with him, but I think it fits him. Although this isn’t long it’s close to what I think fits him.
I have to draw him at some point I swear-
I love him so much I can’t-

Honestly, I think it might’ve played a role in the war. However, again, I see Michael being a victim just like the 7 brothers. I doubt jealousy was the sole motive for casting Lucifer out. If anything, it might’ve played a role, but I’d like to think that Father got into Michael’s head once again.
The Root of Michael’s Insecurity
•Michael hasn’t been revealed in game, and we don’t even know if every time we’ve met him, it’s actually been him.
•We learned a little bit about the Celestial Realm through one of the latest moments in game. Which deals with “Father”
I honestly doubt there is an antagonist in this game. This game isn’t surrounded by the “hero vs. villain” concept. It’s mainly about broken characters trying their best to improve themselves. I feel like it’s obvious that Michael is also a broken character. From when we’ve met him (the moments we believe we did, at least) he’s always hid himself. Even when we did meet him in person (not in his own skin) he didn’t give off much confidence to me. To me, Michael seems like a very insecure person.
•However, I believe that ties into “Father” who I assume is Obey Me’s version of God.
I believe Michael’s insecurities didn’t stem from Lucifer simply existing. It might be a far stretch with pretty much zero evidence, but it’s a belief.
I think Father has a role in Michael’s insecure behavior, a major role at that. Clearly Lucifer was the pride of the Celestial Realm, which makes me wonder if he was what Father took pride in. I know it’s far fetched, but hear me out:
Favoritism Between Siblings:
•Lucifer was given the Ring of Light and Michael was given the Ring of Wisdom. While the Ring of Light was made from gold/silver, the Ring of Wisdom was made of brass/iron. That’s a big difference. (Like, c‘mon, at least give Michael silver.) If these were given to each by Father, which I assume they are, that’s clear favoritism. The sheer difference in material alone shows who was the clear favorite.
If I’m being honest, that’s really all the evidence I have of clear favoritism as we don’t know a lot about the Celestial Realm and Father. Hell, we know almost nothing about Michael and other Angels. However, this small, vague amount of evidence still leads me to believe Father has some role to play in the way Michael turned out.
•Michael’s insecure, I feel like that should be a given. He hides himself every time we meet him. Whether it be from a ray of light or even someone else’s body, we never see Michael. This is a man who is hiding himself, it’s a part of his character. Again, insecurity doesn’t stem from someone simply existing. I say, Father’s favoritism is the root of the problem.
•I say Father has favorites between all his children, and Michael is not one of them. Michael being the one Father looks past could be the root of his insecure behavior. It could be why he doesn’t show his face: he is the opposite of Lucifer. Michael is the opposite of Father’s favorite, looks wise at least. It’s been said that Michael and Lucifer are opposites, and Lucifer seems to be Father’s favorite. Michael being very loyal to Father, yet not being his favorite had to take a toll of what he thought of himself. His own creator chose another over him, instead of being fair to each. To add, this might also be the root of Michael’s obsession with Lucifer.
An Obsession Caused By Insecurity:
•It’s been said that Michael was a bit of a creep and has an obsession with Lucifer. He would sneak into Lucifer’s room and even had a shrine with his things. This isn’t even an attachment, it’s a major obsession. I’d say, Michael is obsessed with Lucifer because he’s Father’s vision of perfection. Michael is not the favorite, probably not even after the war. Michael probably found flaw after flaw in himself because of the favoritism Father (shamelessly?) displayed. He doesn’t look like Lucifer, he doesn’t look like Father’s favorite. He probably thought that Lucifer must’ve been what everyone thought was perfection. He must have thought that he was completely flawed because he wasn’t Lucifer.
•If anything, the shrine could be to showcase to Michael what he wished he could be. The thing he desired most, his ideal way of showing himself. Sneaking into the room is creepy in itself. I can’t defend that in any way. But, I’d say Michael did it because he wished to be close to what he wanted for himself.
•Michael most likely found himself pointing out every little thing about his personality and visuals. That’s probably why he hides himself. He looks nothing like Lucifer and is so insecure about it he doesn’t want to be seen. The favoritism got to his head and he sees himself as imperfect.
The Final Statement:
•Michael’s insecure behavior didn’t come from nowhere. I haven’t seen anyone dive into why Michael would be insecure, and I see why: There’s little to zero evidence about the reason. We know nothing about him, and I think that’s the point.
——
Michael is very insecure, I’ve said that many times. His insecure attitude towards himself probably came from Father and his favoritism. The whole Ring of Light and Wisdom situation, Lucifer being the pride of the Celestial Realm, all of it must’ve come to a head. It most likely broke Michael knowing he would never be Father’s favorite. He is Lucifer’s polar opposite by looks, and most likely personality. They have different interests, styles of punishment, and completely different personalities from the way Michael has acted in the past.
•Not only has Michael hid himself behind someone else’s body, but when in his true body, his first instinct was to run. When Raphael confronted him about his actions, he ran. He physically ran away from his problem. That’s insecurity in its finest form. Again, coming from favoritism. He isn’t Lucifer. He isn’t confident and prideful like him. He doesn’t seem to exert confidence, not the way Lucifer does, at least.
This may or may not be true. It’s a speculation and I had to read far between the lines for this idea.
