I really love how this is written, with each setting acting almost like a countdown to an event, giving it a more stylized format.  This concept instantly intrigued me and the first sentence alone pulled me in. It’s a modern college au where they go on a road trip together, and Anne’s the pre-med and Gil is the English major, which is a super interesting twist!  This whole fic is a countdown to when “Gilbert loses his mind,” and yet I wasn’t at all expecting what “losing his mind” actually meant, and it broke me, like I lost my OWN mind for a hot sec.  This fic is technically rated general audiences on archive but I’d personally rate it T for language and mentions of sex.  I really enjoyed this interpretation of their characters and some quotes in it really had me feeling my feelings, give it a read!

There was a party, yes, and it was a glorious party, and you danced and she read and you saw the world, which had seemed so small before, unfold like a blanket before you. It was a party so perfect it made you sick.

But she did not take you. She took herself and you took yourself, plain as plain.

This fic is written in second person, but don’t let that stop you from reading it.  This fic really captures gay pining and yearning, and I think the use of second person made me relate to Diana as a character more than I usually would, because damn this really me feeling a lot of emotions.

Aw shit this one had me grinning like a fool in the middle of a public library.  A modern high school au with fake dating and enemies to lovers, I really love what has been posted so far!  I think this is a very good use of these tropes and a good translation of these characters into a modern setting.  As of 2/11/2020, it’s a little over 13k.

I am IN MY FEELINGS with this one!!!  I cannot express in words how much I recommend this fic.  Taking place in a modern, college-aged setting, this fic translates the relationship drama and tension Diana and Jerry have in season three and works through it where they’re both adults.  It’s an extremely satisfying read, fantastic world building, and there were a good few moments where I had to take a break in my reading because I was losing my shit.  I really think it’s a wonderful take on both of their characters and their relationship.  Seriously, I’ve already recc’d this fic to three people I know IRL, do yourself a favor and read this if you like Jerry/Diana.

hello! sorry that we didn’t get to this before now! there are a couple that i can recommend! 

remylebae’s Imagining Something Worthwhile (our very own mod beef) is a wonderful story! it’s one of the longest in the fandom and i love it a lot! any list of modern au for anne would be incomplete without ISW! Anne is a teacher trying to make it, and she falls in love (spoiler alert) with medical student Gilbert. It’s a sweet and funny read written by a great person :) I’ll give it its own post in the next couple days. 

another fic is one we’ve already posted about, and it’s not strictly modern au-- half of the story is, and the other half isn’t. @royalcordelia‘s Time Turns to Amber is one of my favorite stories in the fandom! Anne (from the 1900s) switches places with Ann (from 2019). Highly recommended. Here is our post about it, if you’re looking for tags and trigger warnings and such.

Okay so josie pye but she's a lesbian ???? Omg I just came up with a concept that after season three she goes to the same college as our girls and rooms with josie too (maybe) and they find there is an exception to the "no suitors outside of the parlour one saturday from 2-4pm unsupervised." It sounds dumb now that I've written it.

I love this concept!!! It frames her relationship with Billy in an interesting way in my opinion!

I would personally be interested in reading a fic with a premise similar to this :) if anybody knows of one like this or would like to write one, let us know!

Anne joins Gilbert in his orchard to help with harvest, but soon realizes that it is hard to be around him given her realization of her love for him and his imminent engagement to someone else. Things quickly reach a T as she tries to leave, and some honest confessions ensue. Gilbert gives Anne his mother's ring to wear as a charm on her bracelet until she is ready to take the next step.

Basically the product of my complete marriage to the idea of a love confession in the orchard. Omg just read this and imagine it with me, ugh *chef's kiss*

Diving into Gilbert’s inner thoughts and struggles as his wedding to Winnie approaches, I found this fic to be a very detailed exploration of his character.  I cannot express in words how emotionally invested I was reading this; just, the building tension sucks you in and will have you biting your nails up until the end, unsure of what will happen.  Yeah, this one is fantastic.  Do yourself a favor and give it a read.

Do you happen to know a place where I could stream season 3? It’s not on Netflix where I live yet but I don’t want to wait another minute to continue watching this wonderful show. Also you’re doing me an amazing favor by feeding my soul with fics so thanks!!

The two mods that run this blog both live in America, so we totally understand not wanting to wait!

The way Mod Beef and I have been watching (as well as the rest of the non-Canadian fandom, if I understand) is by downloading a VPN and streaming it through the CBC Gem website. We use Windscribe, which is free and acts as a Chrome extension.

From there, set your location to somewhere in Canada. Montreal works best for me but another friend of mine uses Toronto. You’ll have to create a CBC account to access the show, but it’s not hard. They’ll ask you for your name, email address, and zip code I think. For the zip code, google one that’s in the city you specified. You should then be able to stream season 3!!

The best thing is about this method is that it gives Anne with an E views that help get us a season 4! I hope this works well for you, and thanks for your support of the blog!!!
