I wrote this as a prompt in the merlin library discord but I loved it so much I wanted to post it here too!

After Arthur returns from the lake, he and merlin settle down into an easy, quieter life. They travel occasionally, and try out new things in the modern day like museums, amusement parks, and the like.

After a while, maybe a few years of this, they decide to start a family. Maybe they use magic to make a kid, maybe they adopt a kid. Of course, it starts with one, but little by little their family grows.

They vowed to each other, the moment they even considered having kids, that they'd never be like their fathers. They'd be involved as much as they could be, they'd show unconditional love, they'd support their kids in all of their interests. They'd be the best dads there ever were, because their kids should never deal with the trauma they dealt with.

Their kids grow up in a happy home that doesn't know the pain that Arthur and Merlin knew growing up. They never feel unsafe, or unaccepted, and especially not unloved. They grow up with bright futures, and eventually start families of their own.

By the time they're old and wrinkly together they've had a few kids, no more than 4 (because really, arthur, you could barely manage 5 knights, you will not be able to manage 5 KIDS), and a handful of grandchildren that they tell stories of their adventures to. The grandkids think the stories are just that, but the kids know better. Their dads always said the stories werent true, but they knew them well enough to see the glimpses of truth and genuine feeling in each one.

Maybe some of the family has magic, maybe not. Maybe merlin gets to share his knowledge of magic without the fear of persecution. Maybe they band together in pranks against Arthur.

Maybe some of the kids take up leadership or combat. Maybe one goes into swordsman ship and theater, performing at the Ren fairs their dads pretend to hate but secretly adore. Maybe another one starts a community project, leading people to help out wherever they can.

Their kids and grandkids grow up to be good people, with 2 good dads/granddads. They're happy.

Arthur and Merlin have their happy ending, now.

(btw I'm using "lady" and "king" gender neutrally. Ghost genders are fluid as hell, just like ectoplasm.)

Among the living, the story of "The Lady Phantom and The Crown" is largely regarded as a classic fairytale, despite it not being as well known as certain stories like those by the brothers grimm or Aesop. Generally, the story goes as follows:

Long ago in the infinite realms, there was a crown with great power that chose a ruler for the realms that would lead it to prosperity. The crown was passed from king to king, guarded and guided by a spirit beyond ancient; The Lady Phantom. Some rumors and myths say they and the crown were both born from the same ectoplasm. Others say that they made the crown. As the Ancients began to rise, they claimed The Lady Phantom as one of their own, swearing to aide them in their eternal mission of the crown.

One day, a new king was chosen, Pariah The Dark. Chosen to lead his people through terrible conflict to a greater peace, he did well in the beginning, but conflict warped his purpose, and he became lost in his wrath.

The Ancients convened, and agreed to remove the crown from Pariah to find a more hopeful king. The Lady Phantom would be the one to retrieve their crown just as they had before, but Pariah had different plans.

In a fit of rage, he shattered the crown into many pieces, and scattered them across the infinite realms. In a burst of light, The Lady Phantom was gone, and The Ancients sealed away Pariah in his eternal prison of slumber.

The story ends with a promise that one day, The Lady Phantom would return to mend the broken crown and bring a new king to the infinite realms.

Danny fenton was struggling, majorly. Between his ballet practice, his homework, and making sure he and jazz actually had something to eat for dinner while his parents worked away in their lab, he was very much struggling.

Of course, his two best friends did their best to help out. Tucker helped with most of his homework, and Sam made sure he had some cash to spend on money (no matter how much he insisted he didn't really need it), and they both stayed with him when he did extra practice. It was nice, their little routine.

His parents wouldn't stop going on and on and ON about their ghost portal. It probably wouldn't work, their stuff has basically been entirely theoretical until now, but he just wanted it to be over so maybe they'd take a break and remember their kids.

It didn't work, obviously. The portal didn't even get past the "powering on" stage. Whatever. Sam wanted to go look at it and get some cool pictures for her photography class, so he was gonna bring them to the lab while his parents were off sulking.

HE DIDNT EXPECT IT TO ACTUALLY TURN ON.

Especially not with him IN it.

The pain was horrible, blindingly horrible, intense enough his brain was processing sensation seconds, minutes after they happened.

And then it was gone.

And he was floating in some starry abyss, with a shard of light dangling in front of him, singing so sweetly.

He reached for it.

'Hello'

He brushed a knuckle across the surface.

'Phantom'

It was cool to the touch, like metal.

'Lady Phantom'

It drew back.

'Our Lady Phantom'

It pierced into his chest.

"-DANNY!"

He could feel the convulsions of being electrocuted finally ebb away, and his senses came back ringing and burning but all still (mostly) working.

Florescent lights glared above him, rigid cold tile below him, scalding hot hands pressed against his face, arms, neck, wrists, chest.

Another few minutes and he could finally press the air in his chest out and push himself onto hands and knees. He felt-

Holy hell he felt dizzy and raw and so so sick.

His vision stopped swimming after several more minutes.

"Why am I in a ballet costume?"

Yeah these are just my at-the-walls ramblings. Princess tutu au! The idea is that, like how duck could transform into a storybook character with a piece of mythos heart and had to find all the other pieces, danny can transform into an ancient spirit with a piece of the crown and has to find all the other pieces.

Yes he is in a tutu, yes he does get called "The Lady Phantom" a lot. It's weird for him in the beginning but he gets a lot more used to it when he realizes how little care there is about gender norms in the ghost zone. Danny is still very much A Guy, just A Guy in a tutu.

Amity Park is much less "Oh yeah thats a guy" about Lady Phantom, unfortunately.

Anyways let guys wear tutus and dance the Lady parts in ballet I wanna see it.

Time for my weekly art post!

Heyyyy it's some drawings featuring my star witch au danny! This was absolutely just an excuse to draw him in cool witchy clothes.

There's also a doodle of danny on a broom (cause obv I have to draw him on a broom he's a witch) and him with his mentor clockwork!

This was super fun to draw and I love this au so far.

I usually interpret obsessions to be more like special interests in autistic people (like myself) with an extra "I get energy from this that helps me continue to exist" kinda kick to it. Then again, that might just be me projecting autistic traits from myself onto whatever media I am currently hyperfixated on.

Wish the Danny Phantom fandom would stop trying to make ghostly obsessions relate to OCD because it never fucking goes well lmao. Best case scenario, it's just the usual ableism and ignorance, but the worse ones dive straight into making OCD to be this evil and scary and violent thing.

I have OCD. I would love to see it being used in fandom in a way that's respectful and accurate, but. This isn't it.

(This also goes for saying that the Fentons have OCD relating to their work. Just say that they're obsessed with their jobs or that they're workaholics, you don't have to give them an already stigmatized mental illness to explain them neglecting their children.)

So like, is danny more susceptible to hypothermia or heatstroke in his human form?

Because on one hand, he could deal with the cold very well, but not the heat. On the other hand, he could be better equipped for warmer/hot weather with his body naturally cooling, but be more likely to get hurt/sick in the cold.

Or maybe it's sort of an equal opposite thing where in his ghost form, he thrives in the cold, but his human form just cannot handle it.

I imagine him being in his ghost form during the summer and getting heatstroke, only to switch back to human and send himself into shock because of his body suddenly adapting to the temperature even though he's still in the throws of heatstroke.

Just a thought

Edit: apperantly you can't go into shock from suddenly lowering temperature after heatstroke like you can from getting warm too quickly after hypothermia. I am choosing to ignore this and say it's a ghost/halfa thing.

The Beginning (Star Witch Au)

"-And thats why I can't become a witch."

The middle aged person across from Danny hummed quietly for a moment, sipping at their tea while he looked back down at the book in his lap, the title 'A Witchlets Guide To Apprenticeship' taunting him.

"And your parents won't let you apply for the public mentorship? There is one in Amity Park that's always accepting applicants," they set their cup down, looking through the tea leaves left in the bottom.

Danny set the book on the table to join the others he'd been picking through. The library's decent selection on becoming a witch only frustrated him.

How was he supposed to put any of the books to use in his situation?

He huffed, sinking into the plush chair. "No, they're only willing to consider it if I can manage to get a private mentorship. They're only doing it because they KNOW I don't know anyone who can do mentoring. They want me to give up and become a scientist like them," he droned.

The person across from him didn't look up from their tea leaves, like they were looking for something.

"I'm curious," they began, "why do you want to become a witch so bad?"

"Well- its kinda- I mean most people think it's kinda childish-"

"I assure you even if it's childish it won't mean any less."

Danny turned to them and they finally looked back, porcelain cup abandoned on the table. "I... I wanna be worthy of the stars."

They raised an eyebrow. "Worthy of the stars?"

The library was quiet for a moment, save for the subtle 'tick, tock' of a pocket watch hanging from the elders necklace.

"The stars guide people who are lost, and they tell stories and preserve history. They're always there, they help people, kinda... I wanna be like that. I wanna be like the stars, and I wanna know them," he explained.

The elder stood, leaving their cup in its place on the table and picking up one of the books Danny was looking through before their conversation began. "Not many witches do private mentorships outside of family or monetary gain. It would be easier for you to give up and listen to your parents wishes. You might not be good enough to make it to an academy anyways, much less gain an artifact."

Their pocketwatch ticked just a bit faster.

Danny glared at his pile of books, "it would, but that would be stupid. If I gave up on it now I'd probably hate myself for the rest of my life. And then I'd die and still hate myself for not trying." He picked up one of the books and cracked it open, ready to start looking for something, maybe a loophole that would work.

"Alright," they smirked, standing in front of the boy. "I'll mentor you."

The book tumbled to the floor as Danny looked up at the person quick enough to give himself whiplash, "huh?"

"You need a mentor, and I am certified to do so. I only have one condition," they grabbed their necklace, flicking open the pocketwatch.

Danny scrambled to his feet, half sure he was having some weird lucid dream, "yeah anything! Well, not my soul but I mean other than that-!"

"If I mentor you, you will not be allowed to quit. You'll have to push through to graduation, no matter what."

Icy blue met muted red, and Danny nodded enthusiastically.

"Of course! I'm not gonna give up, not when I actually have a chance!" He grinned, hands trembling with energy. Could this really be happening? Could he finally have his in?

"Well then, Daniel-"

"Wait how did you know my name?"

"-I'm clockwork, and I'd be happy to take you on as my apprentice."

They stuck out a hand, Roman numerals and curved lines running along the skin from the palm until it disappeared under a sweater sleeve.

Danny grabbed it, shaking perhaps a bit too excitedly.

The pocketwatch stopped ticking, the stars shone a tad bit brighter, just for a moment.

The tea leaves at the bottom of an old porcelain cup resembled a star.

And that marks the start of danny becoming a witch in this au!

This au is based off of this post I made.

To make it make a bit more sense, in this au magic is practiced by humans and exists parallel to science and the modern world, kinda like little witch academia. Anyone can become a witch but you have to have completed a year long mentorship (at least) to qualify for any magic academy.

Only certain witches are qualified to be a mentor, with it essentially like being certified to be a teacher. Most mentors do public mentorships, mentor a specific family, or get hired on a witch by witch basis.

Clockwork just so happens to be certified, and as a time witch they knew that in quite a few timelines they'd mentor Danny, so they arranged it so they'd 'coincidentally' end up at the library at the same time as the kid trying to look into mentorships. Totally coincidental, not at all staged. Time magic.
