J Dilla to release album April 15th

The estate of deceased hip hop producer J Dilla is set to release a vocal only album on April 15th entitled “The Diary”. 

This album will be released on Mass Appeal records and will feature some pretty notable names.  This album will feature producers Dilla, Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Nottz, House Shoes, Supa Dave West, Bink! and Karriem Riggins. Also on vocals it will also have J Dilla, Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz and Boogie.

It is said that Dilla planed on dropping the album before he passed away, but the album was shelved.  This album was assembled by The Estate of James Yancey’s Creative Director Eothen Alapatt, long term general manager of Stones Throw Records and A&R for Donuts and Jaylib, whose previous archival Dilla work includes the expanded Ruff Draft issue from 2008.

Korg Minilogue $500 NAAM 2016

This beauty right here, the Korg Minilogue will be one of the main attractions at this year’s Winter NAAM in Anaheim, CA, January 21-24.  This is worth checking out for the reasonable price of $500.  This polyphonic analog synth is flexible, fully programmable with 200 program memories.  The voice mode lets you configure the four voices.  It’s has a throwback look, but at the same time displays a stylish aluminum top panel with rubber coated knobs.  This thing looks and sounds pretty dope.  I know that I can not wait to play around with this thing.  You should check for it.

Run The Jewelz’ Cat Remix Album Is Completed And On Its Way To Be Mastered.   

Well it looks like Run The Jewels new new cat album is finished and just about ready for release.  The remix album to RTJ2 started off as a joke, but became a reality when momentum was built up on Kickstarter, raising $400,000 for charity.  The money raised from the project go straight to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.

According to a tweet El-P put out, the album is finished and now ready for mastering.  There is no scheduled release date, but many have speculated September.  Until then MEOW Bitches!

New Unreleased Track From J. Dilla

Detroit rapper Magnif just released "The Last”, a song produced by the legendary producer J. Dilla.  This hypnotic sounding song was recorded and mixed by Young RJ from Slum Village.  

Magnif is no stranger when it comes to rhyming over Dilla’s beats.  Magnif worked with Dilla in 2003 when he was 1/2 of the duo Lawless Element.

Apple Updates Logic Pro X With Alchemy Synthesizer And Support For Apple Music’s Connect

Apple’s Logic Pro X just got a major update.  The DAW platform will be incorporating the well known Alchemy synthesizer into it’s mix.  Apple is also has also created an easier path for music makers to share work via Apple Music Connect feature.  This is the second upgrade that Logic X has gotten this year.  The upgrades are free for current Logic users.
