𝙋𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣 were women from 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙮𝙚𝙧 who sold various types of food and products on their boats in the past. They usually sold goods needed from the mainland that were difficult for the residents of 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙮𝙚𝙧 to obtain.

They wear large hats called 𝙎𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙜 made from straw, and have different patterns and designs. The 𝙎𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙜 hat is a distinctive feature of Brunei because it is much larger compared to the hats worn by traders at floating markets in other countries, protecting the traders from feeling very hot (especially during midday) and shielding them from heavy rain. This is because of the scorching heat and heavy rain that frequently occur in Brunei.
