Now that last point definitely make sense.

Felix told Book that he was unable to leave Germany the same reason WHY Gabriel needed to leave. There were a slight urgency that they had to leave soon so it might be the fact that Gabriel's cover might be blown or along the line.

Eyepatch man a.k.a D definitely work for intelligence. Having the meeting along the river near Parliament is just classic trope for espionage and we know how much Mark and Matthew Sweet enjoy James Bond.

From the BFI Screening Q&A, Mark Gatiss confirmed that between Gabriel and Trottie, Trottie is the one who do all the fighting so we should not be surprised if we saw Trottie picking up gun in series 2.

The mystery in series 2 definitely will involve about Gabriel's past since there is an episode that set in a German Castle so we definitely going to learn more about Felix and Gabriel's time in Germany!

@msladysmith and I were trying to put the timeline to figure out things between Gabriel Book and Felix and also Gabriel Book and Trottie.

This is going to be spoilers if you haven't watch the show...

First Meeting.

We know that Trottie and Gabriel met each other when they were twelve (assuming that they shared the same birthday), which was around the early 1900s.

Both Gabriel and Trottie had alluded that they were inseparable for years before life got in the way. This might be World War I that caused it.

Separation

During their separation, we know that Trottie got married in 1921 when she was 31 to a pilot. They might have met each other during the war. By the time they got married, it's been three years since the war ended

We didn't know where Gabriel was, but we know that before 1936 he was in Germany.

In the train station scene, Gabriel mentioned about getting out Germany to leave the N4zi behind (implied that they are starting to grow in number). Seeing that in the very scene we could see the nazi flag, so it should be after 1933 when H!tler gained full control of the government.

So, between the start of WWI (1914) to 1936, Gabriel and Trottie were separated.

During this separation period, Gabriel met Felix (Piano Man and Gabriel's lover) based on Jack's birth date (27th of April 1921). Whether they met each other in London or Germany, we don't know. Although Felix didn't have a British accent (correct me if I'm wrong), so I might be inclined that Gabriel and Felix met abroad (Germany perhaps).

The reunion

If Gabriel left Germany (the latest) in 1935 to Paris then when straight to London, there is a chance that he might have found Trottie upon his return. If they met each other before 1936-1938, they had the time to catch up with each other. Perhaps by this point Trottie's husband already passed away, after all it had been more than 10 years since they got married.

Life moved on.

Gabriel probably started his bookshop or perhaps tried to find a clerical job (intelligence analyst, perhaps?). Continued with his dalliances which ended up with him caught by the police in 1936/1938.

Then... we knew what happened next.

Trottie and Gabriel married 1936/1938 (based on cave of fancy ticket below) can't tell if it's a 6 or 8

Then the war started in 1939 and by this point, Gabriel and Trottie already live in Archangel lane.

Trottie might have worked as nurse during the war and Gabriel got roped in with intelligence. He had history of living in Germany during H1tler's raise in power. He knows German (based on episode 5). It is not a surprised if Gabriel got recruited.

Anyway... this is so far the timeline that we managed to piece together.

Based on Trottie's age stated in her marriage certificate.. we can gather

1. Both Trottie and Gabriel was born in 1896

2. They both were in the scarler fever ward in 1906

3. By the time the series started (1946), both Trottie and Gabriel are 50.

4. Jack (just jack) is age 24
