The next thing he knows, Buck is standing in the middle of a familiar street as the shot rings out. When it hits his shoulder, his body falls to the ground, but his spirit stands there, watching the event unfold.

His family and friends grieve and struggle while he's comatose, unaware that Buck is watching it all happen. Buck learns exactly how much he has to lose, and how important he is to those around him, especially to Eddie, who confesses his feelings in a desperate plea for Buck to wake up.

When Buck does wake up, it's in the chair next to Eddie and nothing has changed except his perspective.

Buck is part of the construction crew that's replacing all of the water pipes in Eddie's neighborhood. Christopher insists on taking the crew lemonade on a particularly hot day and Eddie is smitten with the cute worker that is so good with his kid.

Buck doesn't realize that his ADHD medicine can cause increased heat sensitivity and he overworks himself. Being a former Medic, Eddie is right there to bring him in, cool him down, and take care of him. (This is a real risk, if you take any type of SSRI, please be cautious and take care of yourself!)
