A Killing Cold By: Kate Alice Marshall
Rating: ★★★★
Plot:★★★★
Setting: ★★★★★

Where do I start?
The story didn't take any time drawing me in. It started with its mystery and intrigue right from the start. Theo's Fiance Connor takes her to meet his family and spend a few weeks with them. This is the first time Theo is coming face to face with the rich and powerful Daltons. Daltons who might not approve of her, who protect their own. Theo not only wants to impress his family but also keep all her secrets a secret. Which might be tough since she's been getting texts and messages to stay away from Connor..someone on the mountain knows her secret.
But she isn't the only one keeping secrets. The Daltons are hiding something far more heinous.
Unable to remember much of her past due to trauma, Theo begins to remember her life before she was adopted. And all of it is connected to the very mountain she is now on.
This book had me turning the pages well into the night. I'm not joking when I say that I devoured this book whole. I stayed up all night waiting to find out what happens next. There wasn't a slow point in the story. It never dragged on. I wish the characters were a bit more defined, but I've come to notice that in suspense/thrillers the story is more about the outside picture. I didn't want to put this book down. The twists and turns and all the family secrets had me on my toes. Just when I make up my mind about someone they do something that shocks me. I'm so grateful I was able to receive an ARC for this. It was truly a great read. A mystery where I couldn't figure out exactly what happened until it was actually revealed.

The Grace Year By Kim Liggett
Rating: ⭐️⭐️ and a half

I picked up this books because I was told this was a mix of The Handmaid's Tale mix with Hunger Games. Although I didn't put this book down and went onto finish it, I think I'd be okay if I didn't pick it up.
The writing was great and it was a great and very interesting concept. I love a good dystopian fiction, adding suspense and mystery to it was the cherry on top....but....
The plot was there. Actually there were so much of it that I wished it was a longer book. Or maybe it should've been split into a duology. There was so much going on all at the same time. Yes it was supposed to be action packed but at times I was just confused. I felt that some things could've been better explained.
The pacing was a bit off. There were times when the book dragged on and at times when it should've taken its time it just ran past the scenes. There were so many storyline playing out at the same time. And I don't like giving away spoilers so I'm not going to say anything else about what happens.
Saying all that, I did like the concept and I will be looking out for other books by this author. I didn't enjoy this as much but there's a lot of promise.

It's been a crazy few days. When I decided to take the family on a mini vacation, I assumed that I would have a few hours to myself to read. Thus I bought my kindle, loaded with several books.
Our vacation all though at times fun has been extremely chaotic. The Dads are in a bad mood, the elevator of the hotel broke down so my brother literally had to carry my grandma in his arms to her room. There was no parking at the hotel on our 2nd day, because there were several massive trucks taking up all the spaces. And when we brought this to the front desk the guys shrugged and walked away. Thus we got into a heated argument. The mom's are over stimulated. But atleast my little one was happy. It was one shit show after another...
Let's just say the mom's need a vacation from this vacation.

Currently Reading : A Door in The Dark by Scott Reintgen.
So far so good. I'm not really into Dark academia but maybe I just haven't read anything good pertaining to it.

I've been on a Fantasy Book Binge for the past few months. But June has been a good month for some romance. After reading Funny Story by Emily Henry and then Part of Your World By Abby Jimenez I'm opened to the romance Genre. I had abandoned it a while back reading the same things over and over again. But these last 2 books were amazing and just brought me back to the good old days.
I'm thinking about getting into the Chestnut Series By Elsie Silver...

Sometimes I just want to move far away from the Big city and enjoy the small town life. Only if they're like the books ( which of course isn't true) Everything is local, and fresh and the beach is literally down the street. People are bicycling instead of driving cars. You know the local Ice Cream shop's owner and get free scoops here and there. Oh and there's a beautiful book store that has a mini cafe. I need a place like this to exist. To wake up to birds chirping and not police sirens.

I've been more into Fantasy as of last year. Romance books just weren't doing it for me. But Here comes Abby Jimenez to break that slump. Part of Your World was such a great read. The author did an amazing job writing the characters and bringing them to life. It was sweet, funny and so relatable at times.
Gave this a 5 Star <3

Hello!
I am so excited and nervous to have finally made a blog! I can rant about the books I've read and practically devoured. A Lawyer who deals with Insurance by trade but my heart lies in books of all kind. I want to eat, sleep and breathe books.
Looking forward to posting more and making new bookish friends here!
