genuinely the best concert i think i've ever been to! a great venue, two of my top 3 favorite artists, and the first (standing) concert i didn't almost pass out at? heck yeah!

but seriously even on vocal rest sparkbird was so nice at the merch table,,, and omg the unreleased songgggg & the collab one???? araghsgshh words cannot describe how incredible the whole experience was,,, and between sparkbird's set and shayfer james' set a whole bunch of us just started nerding out together about the life series which was so cool??

oh yeah also reference pic i used! not sure who took the photo, just found it on google (lmk if you know though!). working on this has kept me sane studying for finals, though a number of people in my dorm hall have heard me muttering over and over "sparkbird's sparkbird for sparkbird" sooO-

a take on the coffee shop au:

this customer comes to this local coffee shop every day before work. they come by and chat with you, the barista, for a while before they leave. in fact, they come to the shop mostly for you, they find you beautiful and your voice alluring. you even know their drink order, even have it prepared by the time they come in! they're in love, and you surely must be too. why else would you go to the effort to know their order and routine by heart, and why else would you talk with them for so long in the morning when there's other people to serve?

so they confess.

and you're there, trying your hardest to let the fifth regular of the week down gently.

why are they all so convinced you love them just because you know your regulars orders, and are happy to talk to them? they all show up in between rushes, and you quite like hearing about the drama of people you've never met and likely never will.

you're just a barista who rather likes your job. why does that mean all your regulars are falling in love with you?

the ones who don't vanish after you reject them tend to become a friend of yours, after you manage to get it through to them that it isn't their fault you're not attracted to them. you're not attracted to anyone. and so you have a constantly growing group of regulars turned friends, some of whom are definitely still in love with you.

you're trying to get them all to form a support group. the "i fell in love my barista who showed me basic human decency" club.

As much as he clings to his title as the Ultimate Life Form, he… nothing should be able to survive this.

And yet he is.

However much time this has been, it's- it's long enough he's starting to wonder, in those brief moments of clear thoughts, if he's going to be stuck here forever. It's possible.

The only thing that might indicate he's here is that it collapsed after Whisper left. And even then, he's not sure this is somewhere she'd search. Nothing should be able to fit underneath this rubble, after all. The way it's packed together, he should be just eviscerated flesh beneath it.

He supposes he is exactly that, just… alive, too.

Why should they bother to search for someone who should be dead?

He wonders if the Resistance got the flash drive. He hopes they did, he knows Whisper's contact was on the way. Maybe Rouge finally got to know that it wasn't him. He hopes she knew it was never him, he hopes she was trying to advocate for him and that drive finally gave her the evidence.

He knows, deep down, that is unlikely to be true. He saw his double shoot her, she… he's only barely come to realize she's his sister and yet that's already gone. He shouldn't have just stood there. He should've speared it through, even if he knows he couldn't have.

No, she probably refused to believe it was him until that moment. He knows it had his actual guns, even if that had been a suspicion back then he knows it for a fact now. He's fought it enough times now to know. No, Rouge probably was running through theory after theory as to what changed.

He only hopes she can find something that doesn't destroy the memory of him for her. Whatever she decides to believe, he hopes that at the very least that security footage showed he wasn't willing.

He hopes they were able to rescue Sonic. Chaos, he hopes they found him. His mind keeps going back to his rival, in the times he can think beyond silent screaming. He had never managed to get past the denial stage of grief after he'd learned of the faker's death, and while he knows it isn't healthy he wasn't exactly wrong.

That footage was… he can only guess what all happened, but given the state he'd been in… Shadow hopes the Resistance rescued the hero as soon as they located him. He hopes they got Rouge to search, if anyone were to find Sonic it'd be her. Especially with both footage and the blueprint of that cell.

He… he knows better than to hope for this, but- but the hybrid wants the hedgehog to pull him free and hold him. He wants to be able to fall apart in the arms of both his friend and his sister. He wants to see those damn green eyes shine again. He wants to hear Omega threaten Eggman in his honor (please, please say they've found him too).

More than anything, he wants to lean on Sonic in that cafe they kept ending up at after their races. He wants to firmly establish that yes, he's always welcome to stay at the Team Dark apartment- at least, for when they have one again.

He wants Sonic, Rouge, Omega- everyone to know he cares. He wants to finally go back to being able to talk to his friends, his family, people on the street, anyone at all without any fear in their eyes, their voices. And sure, he had Whisper, but he could see the well-hidden fear of hers. He saw how it changed from being scared of him to fear for him. This chaos-damned war made everyone fearful.

With how infrequently he can think this clearly, he's worried it's been much, much longer than just that definite week. Maybe it's been months, and everyone's dead so they can't try to find him. Maybe it's been years, and he's conscious so very little. He wouldn't know.

All he truly knows is pain.
