Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

really helpful technique ^ once you know how to divide by halves and thirds it makes drawing evenly spaced things in perspective waaay easier:

Oops I dropped my updated drive of DnD resources that I'd NEVER put the 2024 Player's Handbook on, or any other materials.
That would be so reckless of me. Who would leave 100+ DnD materials just laying around?

I might've added the BG3 Art Book to my dnd assets stash
It' 100% does not have things like the 5e players' handbook + 5e’s character sheet, several gm guides, critical role's explorer's guide to wildmount, baldur's gate and waterdeep city encounters, 101 potions and their effects, volo's guide to monsters, both of xanathar's guides, a bunch of other encounters, one shots, and class builds
In no way are there any pdf’s relating to any wizard who may or may not be residing on any coast
(Edit that I’ve moved the folder to the new link above! So if you catch a different version of this post that link won’t work anymore!)

hot artists don't gatekeep
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Anyway, fuck Adobe, and enjoy!

Color Like a Classic Comic Book
Tumblr media
I'm doing some tinkering on Fauxstalgia stuff, and since I believe in sharing resources, here's an RGB PNG version of the official DC pantone guide, with the swatches re-sampled from current pantone standards. This set is from 1982, but should be generally believable for most stuff post-WWII.
The versions floating around online (two of which are under the fold) are scans of prints and are not accurate for color-picking.
Now, these colors would also be altered by the printing process, but for clean, pre-print versions, here's some authenticity.

The Galactic Emperor Sigma mythic skin theme sounds like it came out of a Pokemon OST to me so this crossover had to happen it was out of my hands
The concept I played around with while drawing this was that as a Gym Leader Siebren is still a scientist (his Gym and Lab are one in the same) and his interest is in how Pokemon innately come into their power. He often lets and encourages his Pokemon to levitate him and use their abilities on him for fun and research. His main interest is still black holes and other Pokemon-canon worm holes. He has also gotten the attention of a wild but friendly Cosmog that he is very curious about.
At some point there is an accident in his lab/gym and he alongside his Pokemon goes missing. He of course reappears as Talon Experiment Sigma, seemingly in possession of his own Pokemon-like abilities and power. His team of 4 is joined by two "gift" Pokemon, and Cosmoem appears to be linked to his very essence. In moments of clarity, some say he looks at the mythical Pokemon with sadness.

Had a hankering for pixel(ish) art but just wanted to do something quick so I just remade an old abandoned WIP in pixel form. The full version has better composition but the readability is eh so there's a cropped vers.
Maybe one day I'll finish the original WIP

TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS
I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, I’ve got your solution.
Native-Languages  is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.

YAY I FINALLY FINISHED MY DRAWING CHALLENGE!!!!! >:D I made my own because I think the CROB one in particular is really awesome and fun (mine... I'm trying but I decided to do this instead since Pokémon are easier to draw lmao)
Enjoy!! :3
Hmm. If the bias isn't obvious, Generations 5 and 7 are my favorite LMAO (though I do find it interesting that my fav and least fav shinies are both from Gen4, as usually I consider Gen4 to be very meh/middle of the road). Idk I'm really tired but I just wanted to share this so :D enjoy!
RIP Bisharp, Golurk, Noivern, and like every other one of my most-drawns I tried really hard to pick ones I usually don't draw ahnskdjsak
(YES I DO LIKE SIMISEAR AND LICKILICKY THEY ARE BABY AND DESERVE MORE APPRECIATION)
