This are the events that in my opinion were the hardest for Regulus since the first arena. His brother volunteering, his first death, his best friend dying in front of him, knowing that he would never be able to return home if James didn't go with him? Ok, that was definitely painful.
in an au where both james and regulus are famous james has a secret tiktok account used exclusively to like and repost regulus' thirst traps. one day he forgets to switch accounts and reposts like 15 reg edits and the internet blows up. when he realizes his mistake he doesn't even bother to delete the reposts. that's the day regulus finally follows him back on every social.

Until one day he'd been standing with James and Peter, in the hallway. James had said something, Sirius can't even remember what. But he'd laughed. One of those big laughs. The type that fills your belly. That makes you cry. And when he'd looked up, he'd found Remus's eyes on him.
*Oh.*
That was something.
That was world altering.
The atoms in his body rearranged themselves under Remus's eyes. They needed. Needed. Needed him.
He'd asked Remus, several years later, what had made him look, since it couldn't have been the noise. And he'd only shrugged and said:
"Your laugh is so bright. It's impossible not to notice it. Like not noticing the sun is in the sky."
sirius being the overprotective older brother to james and regulus, and reciting the "if you hurt him, ill hex you into next week" speech to both of them separately
I had to put them together. They deserved to be together even before their first interviews. They deserved to be together since that snowball on the back of James's head, duh
