What would season nine have looked like if Lexie had survived?

That question brought me back to fic almost three years ago, and my answer will (hopefully) begin posting by the end of the month!

Update on the delay:

Two of my doctors have okayed a return to my contact, and if I wasn’t being the ideal patient I’d have put it in today, but the cornea doc I saw is technically my primary ophthalmologist’s second opinion guy, so I have to talk to the main one Monday.

I fell on Monday night. Didn’t have glasses on, tripped over the dishwasher. Got a bunch of stitches on my arm; could’ve been worse.

Mostly annoying because our family rule is to close it unless you’re standing there, after my sister punctured a lung in 2000 tripping over one in the dark. My brother wasn’t born yet/hadn’t absorbed that and left it mid-empty. I saw that something was different but it being open was so anathema to me that I thought it was closed with trash bags hooked on the door.

I am having a plastics procedure done on my lids that could affect posting, but I’d like to have the first chapters up to garner interest after being gone almost three months.

Update:

I’m still around, y’all! My eye is doing better. The “defect” aka tear is gone, but the infection is still clearing out. Once the infiltrate is gone, I’ll get to put my contact back in. Not sure if there will be any permanent issues. My vision is still foggy—I have my phone on dark mode because black against white isn’t great and uh that’s books. But it does seem to be slowly improving. When they were worried enough to be using the term “cornea transplant” last month I’ll take that. Also it could be the drops I’m on. They’reqw intense. And liquid gold apparently. Shortage. Broken system. ‘Merica.

They do want me to have some minor surgery done to my lids, but it should be outpatient, local anesthesia.

Hopefully, the Lexie Lives fic will be ready to start going up as my life returns to normal. I’m close to done with the main revision.

As for the DRoG companion…. Christmas in July, anyone?

OMG. I’m desperate for CC content before Tuesday, and the Juniper hate astonishes me. She’s not a perfect friend. But I can’t imagine Bryce and Danika really let anyone else in, never mind the Pack. That being their friend could be hard, and suddenly she was her only friend. Being that support for someone for two years is rough

I can’t help thinking about how she’s A. In the only queer couple we have so far and B. She’s non-white, and canonically lacking privilege. When calls Bryce out on using hers, it’s a smokescreen for a POC having to school someone on white privilege, and every reaction I’ve seen is “she did deserve it, though, and Bryce meant well!!!!!!” That’s not the point. What Bryce did does nothing to change minds. Yes, the reputation might inspire other fauns, but she’d never get respect from the company or the patrons.

I’m more understanding of Fury-hate because she did peace out on Bryce for two years, but I’m also sure she’s beholden to someone in some way. Bryce obviously didn’t ask questions before the Pack died, not even of Danika. The four of them had one of those loving, will die for you college friendships that might not actually be that deep, and that’s ok!

Whenever I come across people calling Bryce annoying, I want to scream. I get that Celaena was Aelin all along, and a special snowflake assassin, but she was also a scheming party girl obsessed with fashion, and she grieves by running away across an ocean to mope on rooftops. She can be highly obnoxious. People compare Danika to her, and I see that, but she’s far more into dresses and shoes and SHE AND BRYCE WOULD BE BESTIES.
