Wednesday's Paint it Black

This. This is the moment I decided that I'm in love with this series.

It just made me feel so seen in such a specific way.

So some background: I went to an all girls' boarding school and it very much had this dark academia aesthetic to it. Although our summer uniforms were this disgustingly obnoxious yellow colour, in the winter we wore all black, and it always made me feel just a little more at home.

The school was over a 100 years old so it had tons of history and tradition. The hostel building I stayed in was so old it was used as a hospital during the Anglo-Boer war and it had these eerie crooked walls and doors that wouldn't close properly because of it. It also had it's fair share of ghost stories and superstitions.

Apart from the people there, I felt right at home. Just like Wednesday, I was an antisocial, pessimistic little shit that thought I knew better than everyone else.

I played piano since I was about 7 years old and to practice I had to specially ask for a key to access the music rooms. They were basically these dusty, dark, uninhabited storage rooms at the furthest corner of the building away from everything and everyone else. In true goth kid fashion, I would lock myself in there for hours on end, practicing not only my assigned pieces, which mostly consisted of Debussy and Beethoven, but also Metallica, some MCR and even on occasion a shitty BMTH cover or two.

It was my way of escaping from everything and everyone else and when I saw her with her cello, playing this song, it just instantly brought up all those memories and I got goosebumps.
