alright I'm NOT saying that TLOU is above criticism, because I'll admit that after ep3ish the pacing just felt off, like we were just trying to hit bullet points of what's going on when it came to Seattle.
and the MAIN issue with that is the 7/8/9 episode limit that these companies Keep Doing. there's Absolutely no time to flesh Anything out properly.
In fact, this is one of my critiques about Arcane, as much as I love S2 and I think they pulled it off the best they could have, it just would have been Better to have S2 focus more on the Piltover/Zaun/Caitlyn/Jinx thing and have a S3 that was more saved for the Viktor Glorious Evolution plotline just so that we had more time to focus and fully flesh out these ideas.
and the same goes to TLOU. if they had more episodes we could have had more time to flesh out Ellie and Dina out in Seattle because it did feel like "they go here. they go there. boom. boom. boom" like they had to get through each major thing as Fast as possible because they had So little time to do so.
and I'm worried that S3 is going to be following the same format just with Abby/Lev's story arc (And I'm already hearing that they need Another season so we're probably not even getting Santa Barbra Ellie in S3). Not to mention that there's probably not going to be people coming back for S3 for a couple reasons. 1) because they were SO displeased with this season and 2) because it's Mainly Abby's story arc and we Already Know how Pissy people were about having to play as her in the game. so just imagine them having to sit through a whole season of her story (ohh lord help me) (because people have been saying "at least I get to kill her over and over in the game" and all that whatnot)
I'm unsure if they've finished writing/shooting/etc. for S3 yet because it supposedly comes out in 2027 (oh god) And if they're Really needing a S4 to finish wrapping up the games lore, I think Neil and Craig need to go back to the drawing board and focus on what to show when sorta thing.

and MORE TLOU fandom nonsense that's making me wonder if you lot have only interacted with media that has the nuance or subtlety of a Cocomelon episode (I Was gonna say a TV-Y7 show but even shows like ATLA and She-ra have proper subtlety and nuance to them)
"They made Dina a straight girl who kisses girls 'for funzies'!" so what if I Actually hit you with a brick? saying "You're gay. I'm not." isn't erasing her Bisexuality because she was never Gay to begin with (and you acting like she was is actually pretty Biphobic). And with this portrayal of Dellie there's going to be more time showing Dina's conflicted feelings over Ellie, not knowing if Ellie's into her, and she goes back to Jesse because 1) she does know he's into her and 2) it keeps continuity with her being pregnant. because if she was pregnant before the dance and they had a 3 month time skip she'd probably be showing at that point.
but ALSO, have we just... Forgotten season 1? 2 out of the 9 episodes main focus was on a gay relationship (Bill&Frank/Ellie&Rylie) so Why would they NOW pull the strings on showing one of the most Important relationships from the games? that argument doesn't make a Lick of sense. like sure, I get some of y'all are mad that they changed it to a slow-burn romance but I personally like those more so I don't have any complaints about it (I also think them doing this slow burn will help carry more weight for THAT scene between Ellie and Dina that's most likely happening in S3 :'( )
People are also mad that Tommy seems averse to going to Seattle for revenge for Joel's death. But from how they've set Tommy up in S1, this actually sort of tracks. He's one of the leaders in Jackson, he's got a kid of his own, Jackson's still getting back on it's feet, they set him up as being Very Against what Joel has done in the name of protecting them, the list goes on. and I think that not only his conversation with Ellie but also his conversation with Gail just reinforces this (I'll admit I have pretty mixed feelings about Gail, like she seems pretty shitty for a psychotherapist after doing it for 40 years)
People are ALSO pretty pissed off that they gave more scenes to Seth and try to have you kinda-sorta "sympathize" with him for agreeing with Ellie. and I'm thinking that Much like Kaitlyn Dever and the changes that were made to Abby's character, it was to protect the actor. which YES, they shouldn't HAVE to do this because homophobes will exist there's no changing that. but UNFORTUNATLY the internet has proven Time and Again that they don't know how to behave and will go harass a random actor for a character that they play. the actor could be the Biggest Ally but Because they play a homophobe that's enough to rile the masses and send hate towards them.
But-and I know this is gonna shock some of you-if an actor gets you to dislike a character that you're Supposed to Dislike, that means they're Doing their Damned Job.
It's only episode 3, trust that the writers know what they're doing with this. I'll admit defeat and apologize if we go down a path that ends up going downhill with Dellie; but for now, I just think it's too early to be throwing tantrums about this.
Alright, I'll see y'all next week for more TLOU Fandom nonsense!

no one wants to hear this, but I'm gonna say it anyway:
The problem isn't the show, the problem Is and always Has Been The Fans.
Back in 2020 there was Huge backlash against TLOU2 Mainly about Abby. people were mad she was buff, people were mad she was left in mystery and seemingly killed Joel for no reason, people were mad you played as her and learned her motivations as to Why she killed Joel in the first place, and they were mad about her character arc with Lev being similar to Joel's in the first game. They were mad about this, mad about that.
So what does Neil, Craig and the show do to change this? They introduce Abby right away, make her motivations for killing Joel known right away, and is no longer buff.
What is the response? people are mad she's no longer buff, people are mad her story is no longer a mystery, people are mad they don't get to know her reasonings as the story plays out. they are mad about this, mad about that.
you Can't have your cake and eat it to. you can't say "I hated how it was" and then say "no wait i wanted it how it was"
"People can grow and change you know?" yeah, sure, no arguing with that. But Unfortunately that does not erase the DAMAGE you all have caused not only on this game, the creators and Most Importantly the Actors up to and INCLUDING sending DEATH THRETS to Laura and her son. because you all were So upset with how the story was told and for the LIFE of you can't seem to separate fictional characters from Real Fucking People.
and this goes for Laura, Bella and now Kaitlyn. because Abby is FICTIONAL, Joel is FICTIONAL, Ellie is FICTIONAL. but Laura, Bella and Kaitlyn are NOT and are on the receiving end of some of the most hateful, insensitive, derogatory shit I've seen in recent years (and that's coming from someone who still participates in the Star Wars fandom).
I've already addressed that certain changes need to be made when adapting stories into different mediums like game->show or book->movie or whatever so that the fluidity fits better with that specific medium but when it comes to changes like This specifically, at the end of the day it's your own damn fault that they had to be made. but it seems that you will never be satisfied with this content enough to enjoy it huh?
"They've lost the plot!" what? because your eye candy got killed so early? if you go back to TLOU2, Joel dies in like the first HOUR of gameplay, that's basically the prologue. so they weren't going to drag out and add in nonsensical filler for Pedro to stay longer (minus the flashback scenes). the Main Story is about Ellie and Abby. That's who they're going to be focusing on (maybe a bit of Tommy in there but that depends if they give Tommy a pov that they didn't in the game... but who knows?)
realistically, the only thing you lot could do is just pretend that the first game is the only thing in this franchise because that's the only thing you seem to like. Because Bitching at the top of your lungs ISN'T going to change Bella Ramsey's role as Ellie. It Just Isn't. just about everything has been shot, edited, etc. and they're ESPECIALLY not going to recast them for S3 because from the looks of it Seasons 2&3 are just splitting the narrative of TLOU2 because there's just SO much story they have to tell with that game. so they're not going to show the first half of TLOU2 and midway though go "oh here's this new actor that's Totally Ellie guys! Bella's not here anymore!" like at LEAST be realistic. Christ it's like I'm talking to a bunch of toddlers here.

Actually, I’m not done yapping yet. It feels like the show is headed into a “damned if they do, damned if they don’t.” Thing because what I’ve Recently seen people bitch about over on TikTok is the song that plays during the new year party while Dina is dancing because “oh technically this song wouldn’t have existed because they changed the infection year so it’s not accurate”
Here’s my problem with this. IF they were to take out the song because of this technicality, you know DAMN well these Same people would be getting all pissy that “why isn’t this song in the show? It was in the second game you have to stay accurate to the game!”
You lot will cry and complain about Anything because the show is an adaptation and not a recreation.
"Abby should have been kept in secret" the thing with turning a video game into a show is that we're going from interactive to passive type of story telling. And we don't have Nearly as much time with these characters in the show vs in the game (especially because we've split the narrative into two separate seasons so we're probably not getting as much of Abby's story till later on); not to mention that Most of the game is told in flashbacks, hell, the party scene we got where Dina kisses Ellie doesn't happen till near the end of the game. while there are flashbacks utilized in tv shows, structuring the show like how the game is just doesn't really work here. so, case in point, you have to introduce Abby pretty early on, and With that, you have to introduce her goals and stuff, her goal being revenge on Joel. now while the show doesn't explicitly say that the Dr. that he killed back in S1 was Abby's dad, context clues aren't that hard to figure out, and they'd probably confirm it later on.
Adding to my "has it been That long since people played TLOU2?" thing from my last post I've seen a rather surprising amount of people say stuff like "they left out the snowball fight!" completely forgetting apparently that That doesn't happen till the morning of Dina and Ellie's patrol where Joel doesn't show up later. the scene we got in the show in Ep1 was a different recon mission. pfft and people wanna tell Me "I'm lacking media literacy".
like WHY does it feel like media has to Dumb down it's story telling for people to get it? this is even something I noticed with Arcane tapping too much into "show don't tell" because if people aren't told to their Faces, they simply aren't going to get it.
(I think I'm probably going to make a yapping post every Sun when a new episode comes out when new waves of Idiocy come out of people and needing to properly explain shit. cause that's how i seem to role on both my accounts. I'll probably also tap into Yellowjackets when I've finished catching up as well. anyways, bye for now!)

I'm about to piss off the ENTIRE TLOU fandom but I'm SO past the point of caring. Bella Ramsey is a more accurate portrayal of a 19 year old not only in their mannerisms but THEIR LOOKS.
"They don't look mature enough" that's because Ashley Johnson was in her mid 30's playing a 19 year old, and in the game, Ellie's face Especially still carries that. AFAB people Especially don't magically change their facial structure from 14-19 unless they had work done. you don't start seeing that happen till your mid-late 20's.
You don't look OR act like "a mature adult" when you're 19, it just doesn't happen. so expecting this (even from a fictional character) is still rather bizzar to me. and saying shit like "she's being too goofy" here when we've gotten basically No clips of her after she loses Joel is also a null in void argument. Even in the game before she loses Joel, Ellie's particularly monotone; but if they're going about this the way i think they're going to, then the stark contrast between her being goofy and the unbridled rage would actually be an Improvement from the game.
and I straight up can't tell if it's been That long since people have played TLOU2, or if they're just being Purposefully obtuse because of their hate boner for Bella as to why they're acting like Ellie's mad at Joel for no reason whatsoever (this isn't towards people who haven't touched the games and don't know the story, this is towards people who know and are still whining like little crybabies about everything)
"Should have recasted like in HOD" so THAT doesn't work either because for Rhaenyra they're going from 15 to like 32. from a teen to an ACTUAL adult, not a Young adult. 5 and 15 years apart are Very Much not the same thing here.
And it really seems that my fellow lesbians have Also been perpetuating the "Bella isn't "conventionally attractive enough" for me to sexualize" to which i expected better from you guys, honestly.
"we're allowed to nitpick" no it sounds like you're crying because you didn't get your way, in What reality would they have recasted Bella as Ellie? would you be complaining less if we waited another 10 years for Bella to be in their 30's and Then you'd stop complaining about them looking so young? probably not, because Bella doesn't fit conventional beauty standards.
And if I'm going to be Remotely honest, I'd rather have someone who can Act the part rather than someone who looks "close enough" but can't act for shit, which is what I'm seeing with all these tiktok "recast suggestions"
With that, I think I've yapped enough, and am going to try and weasel my way out of enemy territory and find Bella Ellie edits 'till next Sun. thank you for your time.

Call me crazy but I like the theory that all the Yellowjackets are going to die by the end of the show. Like whether or not they escaped the woods, they still meet the same fate.

I'm BEGGING people to rewatch shows/movies/whatever before making Dumbass takes on the internet because after fighting for my life on my main account with Arcane it appears that Tangled has now been dragged into this mess
"maturing is realizing Mother Gothel was right" "she was talking about Flynn wanting Rapunzel's V card" "Flynn's manipulative" blah blah blah
FIRST of all, Mother Gothel being right?! the woman who kidnapped a baby and literally refers to her as an Object and Perfected the art of Stockholm Syndrome? THAT Gothel being right?!
Second, this is an instance of "the curtain is just blue" part of media literacy. Yes, there are some instances where you should look deeper into what's being said to you, but there are others where the simplest answer is the right one. this is one of those cases because we're discussing a movie for Children. she's being Very literal about the "THIS is why he's here" while holding the crown. she's trying to manipulate Rapunzel by saying "he doesn't care about YOU, he only cares about the thing you Stole from him and wants it Back". While Initially this was the case, he grows to learn more about her and falls in love with Her as the film progresses
"but in the original--" this is a god damned Disney film. while there are "adult jokes" sprinkled here and there sometimes, Mother Gothel isn't talking about Flynn wanting Rapunzel's V card because that's jumping into a bit TOO adult territory. and it also goes Against Gothel's argument of "he's solely here for the crown" thing here.
Thirdly, Flynn is one of the only good guys who learns and grows over the course of the film and treats Rapunzel right. like yea he's manipulative at First because the guy's a thief who looks out for himself; that's the whole Point.
but while I'm here I'm also going to make the argument of I don't buy the "if Gothel just changed her birthday none of this would have happened" thing because the Lanterns are still being sent up once a year; and Rapunzel Knows and stresses to Gothel that they aren't stars. so while she wouldn't know that they're for Her birthday specifically, I do believe that she would be curious enough to want to know more about them. and seeing the baby mural in the kingdom would probably still lead her down that path of "hey that kid looks a Lot like I do" and I think she would get to "I'm the Princess and you lied about everything" Eventually.

Wow, if I had a nickel for every time a female character has been turned into a “destroyer of worlds” and has had to face an unacceptable amount of misogyny from fans I’d have 2 nickels

And it pisses me off that it’s happened twice now

ngl, despite seeing Sam's ship with Josh and/or Mike 15 year old me was CONVINCED Sam was a lesbian and everyone in the fandom was wrong
...
(maybe I should write a fic with her and Hannah having tension and Sam being more broken about her death/becoming a Wendigo... That would be fun)

ngl, if the thing with Maddie is what I think it is, I'm gonna be annoyed at it Definitely, but I don't think I'll be raging quite like I've seen other people doing. But if Maddie turns into a "wolf in sheep's clothing" kinda thing with her kind words, bubbly personality, being adoring of Caitlyn and all that noise THEN I'm gonna be pissed.
Cuz I'm Already mad enough at Ambessa and if Maddie is lumped on top of the pile I'm gonna turn into a LUNATIC. Like there's only So much I can take from this show before going insane...

I disagree with most people about the Agatha All Along finale and Loved the fact that the road was all in Billy's head, that the road was never real and that Agatha used the "I'm the only survivor of the Witches Road" schtick to trick Witches into stealing their magic, because she was just as surprised when a road Actually showed up. But Billy was so desperate in finding Tommy that he did Exactly what Wanda did, he made the road in his head, and others suffered because of his actions. Much like how Wanda was so desperate in her grief of Vision that she created the Hex, and others suffered as a result. "You're so much like your mother" as Agatha says...
Are there some questions that I have post finale? Sure, like how did Agatha get actually get her hands on the Darkhold? Was her plans in using the Darkhold to try and get Nicolas back? Will Agatha try to put things right with Nicolas in the afterlife or will she forever try to avoid him? and probably more that I can't think of at the moment.
It also seems that no one knows what a "cliffhanger" is anymore, because there really seems to be the possibility of another season and With that the show would leave the audience With questions that they would answer at another time, When they have more story to tell, not everything has to be answered all at once.
Also, WHY do fans need shit Spoon-fed to them?! "How was Agatha pregnant with Nicolas?" she had SEX! "He was made from scratch" meaning the Traditional way of having a kid, she and some rando off screed got it on and she got pregnant, she can't create reality out of nothing like Wanda can, this is pretty straight forward thinking people! Also Nicolas was Supposed to die at birth, he was supposed to be a stillborn but Agatha begged with Rio for more time, which Rio granted her, and was there when his time was up.
I was Never expecting Wanda to come back, Especially after the show told us that Billy's purpose of "The Road" was to find Tommy and Not Wanda. And I think a good chunk of these fans are just salty Wanda stans that are mad she didn't come back.
People were also pissy about Billy having focus despite us being LITERALLY TOLD this is Just as much Billy's story as it is Agatha's. "I wanted more Salem!" why? Wandavision already showed us what we needed to know, that her mother and the rest of the coven tried to kill her because she steals magic, that's all we needed to know. Just say you wanted Agatha and Rio to bang and be off already like damn...
I honestly can't Wait to see what the future holds for Wiccan and what projects they have in store for him, especially if they're going to be paralleling the comics like this.

Listen I Like Wanda, I think she's incredibly complex and pretty well written. HOWEVER, the Wanda stans just piss me the fuck off (or well, THOSE types of Wanda stans). Especially after these past two episodes of Agatha All Along.
"Why isn't Billy looking for Wanda? That's his mom!"
"How DARE he say Wanda isn't his mom! She tore reality apart to look for him!"
The show Explicitly says to us that he doesn't have any memories of Wandavision, just that he feels that his brother is alive, so it's Very justified why he'd be looking for Tommy over Wanda. And seeing what people like Wanda and Agatha have done to Ralph, Sharon and the rest of Westview it's Also pretty justified that he'd have negative feelings for Wanda, especially after telling Agatha to her face that he doesn't trust her. (It's also pretty justified for the residents of Westview to be angry at Wanda, to not use her name or call her "evil witch" because they were Suffering under Wanda's Hex. Sure, Wanda was grieving when her powers created the Hex, but that doesn't make her actions blindly excusable.)
He also spent like a week with Wanda (the timing of Wandavision is pretty wanky but that seems about right), and despite living as "William Kaplan" for 3 years, those 3 years he's had time to know these people and have them Actually Be his parents, so yea no Shit he'd be closer to the Kaplan's than Wanda. No Shit he'd call Rebecca his mom over Wanda.
I swear some of these fans don't pay attention to Anything if it puts Wanda in a negative light.

so many people fought over the ships in the Sequel Trilogy meanwhile the way I shipped everyone was "Ben's gf is Rey, who's bf is Finn, who's bf is Poe. It's not that hard to understand"
(And before you ask, yes I will Never forgive JJ Abrams for creating a Random Ass lady for Rise of Skywalker JUST to not make FinnPoe happen. Cuz it's not like John and Oscar were the captions of their own ship or anything...)

Ykw, maybe this is just a me thing but it feels like Double Exposure was Meant for a new protagonist entirely and they just slapped Max onto it after the fact and then half-assedly tried to tie the strings together for it to “make sense” with breaking up Pricefield and all that nonsense (also it’s fucking 2024, why are companies still “hesitant to show LGBT+ stories” like we Exist and Deserve our own stories, Get Over It)
And I would have Rathered they made a new protagonist entirely because I was actually a fan of True Colors and to me Life is Strange would have been Better telling different stories about these different characters in the same universe who’s “life is strange” (yea that was dumb, sue me. But I’m making a point here).
But it feels like the same corporate greed “pump out as many sequels and remakes for moneys sake even if they’re ass” thing because what they’ve released as of right now with Double Exposure, I’m not impressed.
(And to the people saying “well people break up over time” yea that’s true but they went about showing it the wrong way and Entirely Assassinated Chloe’s character in the process)
(I also have similar thoughts with the Until Dawn remaster but that’s a post for another time)

question: do y'all think the Minecraft film would be better if they went about the "Enchanted" route with starting off with live action characters and then stuck with animation (and i mean Proper animation, not whatever they're trying to do here) for the Minecraft world or do you think this was doomed to fail no matter what option they took?
(also now that you think about it, isn't it SO much better that Blumhouse got their hands on the FNAF film? Like it's nothing perfect but i bet WB would have probably used CGI for the animatronics making them look horrendous)
