Splintered In Time ♡ : A James Potter Fan Fiction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing : James Potter x female!slytherin!reader
summary : When a spell gone wrong sends you hurtling back to the Marauders era, you find yourself entangled in a life you were never meant to live. Torn between the friendships you left behind and the forbidden love you were never meant to have, you must face the impossible choice: to hold on to a borrowed future or fight for the one slipping through your fingers. But time is never kind to those who dare to rewrite it. And love—love is the most reckless magic of all.
warnings : Emotional whiplash, time travelling, poetic language, heavy yearning, Marauders banter, but with a hopeful conclusion, angst with happy ending, slight ‘Snily’ in the ending. Please let me know if I missed any.
author's note : English is not my first language, so please forgive me for any grammatical errors or spelling errors. Re-blogging is completely fine with me, but please don't copy my work. I love you all. Enjoy <3.
word count : 10k {Longest fiction I have ever written}

There are no stars tonight—only the burn of borrowed time.
You didn’t see it coming.
The curse, emerald and vicious, came hissing through the battlefield. You only heard Hermione’s choked scream, Harry’s ragged breath, Ron’s hoarse shout—everything distorted by the thunder of chaos. The three of them were only feet away, desperate and bloodied, backs pressed against stone as the fight splintered around them.
You reached for Harry, fingers outstretched, but the magic hit you square in the chest.
And you were falling— Through time itself.
── .✩
When you opened your eyes, the Forbidden Forest was far younger. The trees were taller, the air less burdened with ghosts. You tasted autumn in your throat. Time had slipped backward, cruel and nameless, and dropped you into a decade where your existence was an error.
But you were alive.
Alone.
You spent the first week haunting the forest’s edge like a ghost, walking its shadowed paths with trembling hands. You whispered Harry’s name into the wind, over and over, as if he might somehow hear you across time. You expected Ron to stumble through the underbrush, muddy and panting, calling you an idiot for getting yourself cursed. You waited for Hermione’s clever hands to grab your wrist and yank you back into the war.
But they never came.
Instead, you stood before the castle doors—haunted and hollow—and walked back into the school you had already left behind.
── .✩
You were sorted into Slytherin. The Hat perched on your head seemed to hum with ancient curiosity, peeling back your layers and tasting the war on your tongue.
“Oh,” it murmured, almost gently. “You’ve already fought your battles, haven’t you?”
You squeezed your eyes shut. Please, just make it quick.
It considered you carefully. Measured the iron and fire in your bones, the loyalty stitched so violently into your chest.
But it placed you in Slytherin, and you didn’t argue. You were already too tired to protest.
── .✩
It started with James. It was always James.
He had a terrible habit of appearing out of nowhere. You’d be walking down the hall, perfectly content to avoid unnecessary attention, when suddenly, his arm would be slung over your shoulders as if it belonged there.
“You’ve got to stop looking so suspicious, snake,” he drawled one day, grinning lazily. “People might start thinking you’re up to something.”
You glanced at him, unimpressed. “I am up to something.”
James’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “Yeah?” he smirked, leaning closer, voice low with mock suspicion. “Planning to kidnap me? Hex me into oblivion? Steal my heart?”
You deadpanned. “I was thinking more along the lines of poisoning your pumpkin juice, but sure.”
He laughed far too loudly for the middle of the corridor, earning glares from passing professors.
“Oh, she’s funny,” he announced loudly to no one in particular, hands over his heart. “Merlin, I think I’m in love.”
You shoved him off, fighting the way your stomach fluttered, but he caught your wrist before you could escape. His grip was firm but gentle, and when you glanced at him over your shoulder, his eyes were far too soft.
“Let me walk you to class,” he murmured, the grin slipping into something warmer.
You should have told him no. But you didn’t.
── .✩
You found yourself tangled with the Marauders far too quickly.
They were impossible to avoid—loud and ungovernable, a storm of mischief and chaos that you had no hope of resisting. You were stolen into their orbit before you could fight it, dragged into their endless schemes and reckless antics.
One morning, you were sitting by the lake, boots kicked off, enjoying the rare sliver of peace. You had foolishly thought you were alone.
Then a shadow fell over you.
“Hello there, Slytherin,” Sirius Black’s voice drawled lazily from above you.
You didn’t bother looking up. “Go away, Black.”
Sirius plopped himself down beside you, entirely ignoring your protest. He stretched out his legs with a contented sigh, as if he belonged there.
Moments later, James appeared, dropping down beside you with a casual grin.
“Morning, love,” he greeted cheerfully, far too pleased with himself.
You narrowed your eyes. “Why do you sound so smug?”
James’s grin widened. “Oh, no reason. I may have just turned McGonagall’s teacup into a toad. But, you know, totally hypothetical.”
You stared at him. “You’re going to die one day, you know that, right?”
“Probably,” James agreed easily, slinging an arm around your shoulders with infuriating charm. “But at least I’ll die with you scolding me. Very romantic.”
Before you could shove him into the lake, Remus strolled over with an exasperated sigh. He paused, taking in the sight of James practically draped over you, and arched a brow.
“Are you bothering her again?” Remus asked, voice dry as parchment.
James beamed. “She likes it.”
You snorted. “I loathe it.”
Sirius, clearly feeling left out, threw himself dramatically into your lap, draping one arm across his forehead with an exaggerated sigh.
“Why,” he drawled dramatically, “why does she only have eyes for James?”
You shoved him half-heartedly, but he only cackled and threw his arms around your waist.
“Get off me, Black!” you spluttered.
James, narrowing his eyes with faux jealousy, nudged Sirius none too gently with his knee. “Oi, off. She’s mine.”
Sirius gasped, clutching his chest. “Yours? Possessive much, Prongs? I knew you were a selfish bastard, but this—this is heartbreaking.”
James rolled his eyes, giving you an exaggerated look of betrayal. “Are you cheating on me with my best mate?”
You snorted. “If I were, you’d deserve it.”
Peter arrived late to the scene, holding a half-eaten pastry, and squinted at the chaos. “Wait—are you two dating?” he asked, blinking between you and James.
“Of course we are,” James said with mock indignation, eyes glinting wickedly. “Didn’t you get the wedding invitation, Wormtail?”
Sirius, still sprawled across your legs, clutched at your hand. “It’s true! She’s only marrying him for his money, you know. I tried to warn him.”
You shoved Sirius off you with a laugh, but James caught your wrist before you could scramble away. His grip was warm, his fingers curling around yours, far gentler than they should have been. When you glanced at him, his eyes were bright with mischief—but there was something softer beneath it. Something you weren’t quite ready to name.
And you hated that you didn’t pull away. Hated how much you liked the way he held on.
── .✩
You should have left. You should have walked away.
But when James kissed you for the first time beneath the clock tower, you let yourself fall.
── .✩
There are no stars tonight—only the burn of borrowed time.
James kissed you in every corner of Hogwarts.
He kissed you by the Black Lake, where the reeds bent with the wind and the water lapped at your boots. He kissed you in the hidden passageways behind the tapestry of Gregory the Smarmy, his fingers fisted in your robes, dragging you against him as if he could anchor you there forever.
And you let him. You let him because he didn’t know the truth.
He didn’t know that when you kissed him, you were tasting borrowed time. That when you clutched at his robes, you were holding on to something already slipping through your fingers.
Because you knew. You knew that one day he would look at you and see nothing but betrayal.
And when the truth finally came—it broke you.
── .✩
It was never meant to slip out.
You had spent months dodging questions, weaving careful half-truths and white lies. James had been curious, of course. He was a Gryffindor, after all—reckless and brash, always needing to know why.
But he trusted you. And it made it too easy to lie.
Until one night, when it all came unraveled.
── .✩
It happened in the Gryffindor common room.
The fire had burned low, its light casting long, honeyed shadows across the rug where the Marauders sat sprawled in their usual disarray. Sirius was lounging with his head in Remus’s lap, tossing Bertie Bott’s beans at Peter, who swatted at him with a scowl. James sat on the floor with his back against the couch, legs stretched out, fingers idly playing with the fraying hem of your sleeve.
You had barely noticed. You were too lost in the sound of their laughter, the way their voices filled the room—so young, so unbroken. For a moment, you let yourself forget. You let yourself imagine that this was your world. That you belonged here.
And then Sirius, ever reckless with his sharp-edged tongue, grinned at you through half-lidded eyes.
“So, how’d a Slytherin like you get mixed up with the likes of us?” he teased, lazily twirling his wand between his fingers. “You never did say, y’know.”
You smiled faintly, already preparing a half-hearted lie. “Fate, I suppose.”
But Sirius was grinning now, mischievous and sharp. “Come on,” he pressed. “I want a proper story. Surely you’ve got some deep, dark secret.”
Your breath caught slightly.
James must have felt the way you tensed beneath his touch. His fingers stilled against your sleeve, and he glanced at you, concern flaring subtly in his eyes.
But you forced a laugh, too light, too strained. “I hate to disappoint, Black,” you said, voice tight, “but I’m painfully boring.”
“Liar,” Sirius grinned, poking you in the ribs with his wand.
And then— Without meaning to— Without thinking—
You said his name.
You said it softly, a slip of the tongue, a betrayal on your lips.
“Harry.”
The room fell silent.
For a heartbeat, the only sound was the low crackle of the dying fire.
And then James stilled.
The playful glint in his eyes vanished, his fingers curling slightly in the fabric of your sleeve. You felt the tension flood his limbs—the subtle stiffening of his spine, the sudden sharpness in his breath.
He turned slowly to look at you.
“Who?” His voice was low, almost gentle.
Too gentle. Like the eye of a storm.
Your throat tightened. You opened your mouth, scrambling for a lie, but the name hung between you—raw and damning.
Sirius frowned. “Who’s Harry?”
And James— James was already staring at you, the light in his eyes splintering into something sharp, something disbelieving.
You tried to move, but his hand shot out, gripping your wrist with a force that was far too desperate.
“Wait,” he murmured, voice hoarse. “Wait.”
The others were watching now, their laughter gone, eyes narrowed in confusion. But James—James wasn’t looking at them. He was only looking at you.
“Say it again,” he breathed. His voice cracked. “Who did you just say?”
You opened your mouth. Nothing came.
James’s grip tightened slightly, his knuckles white around your wrist. His voice, usually so steady, shook.
“Please.”
You felt yourself tremble. Because you couldn’t lie anymore. Not to him. Not when he was holding you like that— As if you were already slipping through his fingers.
And so you whispered it. Soft. Barely louder than a breath.
“Harry.”
The color drained from James’s face.
He dropped your wrist like it burned him, his hand falling limply to his side. His mouth opened slightly, but no words came—only a sharp breath, hitched and uneven.
“Harry,” he echoed, voice hollow.
You saw it then— The moment the pieces fit together. The realization in his eyes. The slow, devastating comprehension.
And then he was on his feet.
“James—” you started, reaching for him.
But he stumbled backward, out of reach. His chest was heaving slightly, his hands shaking at his sides.
“Don’t,” he croaked.
Sirius and Remus were on their feet now, eyes wide and confused.
“James, what the bloody hell is going on?” Sirius demanded.
But James only shook his head. He took another step back, looking at you as if he had never seen you before.
And then he turned and left.
── .✩
You found him in the Astronomy Tower.
The night was cold, the stars scattered wide and indifferent. He was leaning against the stone railing, knuckles white where his hands gripped the edge, his back to you.
“James,” you breathed softly.
He didn’t turn around. He didn’t look at you.
“Who is he?” His voice was hoarse, barely louder than a whisper.
You stared at him. The boy you loved. The boy you were going to lose.
You swallowed hard. “He’s your son.”
James stiffened. His knuckles went even whiter against the stone. For a long moment, he didn’t move.
And then he exhaled, sharp and broken.
“My son,” he repeated slowly, voice cracking. “From the future.”
You stepped toward him, cautiously, as if you might scare him off.
“I didn’t mean for you to find out,” you rasped. “I—I didn’t know how to tell you. I—”
But James spun around sharply, and his eyes—oh, his eyes.
They were wide and wild, brimming with too much emotion for one person to hold.
“You lied to me,” he choked.
You shook your head violently. “No, I didn’t—James, I didn’t lie—”
“You knew!” His voice cracked, sharp with anguish. “You knew this whole time. And you let me—” His voice broke, and he dragged a shaking hand through his hair. “You let me love you anyway.”
Your throat tightened, your heart splintering in your chest.
“James,” you whispered.
But he only stared at you, eyes glimmering with disbelief, with heartbreak.
“You’re not mine,” he rasped, voice raw. “You never were.”
You choked on a sob, closing the distance between you. Your hands cupped his face, trembling fingers brushing against his cheeks.
But when you leaned in—when you pressed your mouth against his, desperate and pleading— He didn’t kiss you back.
He only stood there, motionless, as your lips pressed against his. And when you pulled away, he was already slipping through your fingers.
But you didn’t let go. And somehow, impossibly, he didn’t either.
── .✩
There are no stars tonight—only the slow ruin of hearts breaking in real time.
You stood in the Astronomy Tower long after James had gone.
The stone railing was still warm from where his hands had been, but the boy himself—the boy with honey eyes and a wicked grin—was gone. You pressed trembling fingers against the cold stone, the ache splintering in your chest so violently you thought it might hollow you out.
And you stayed there. Even after the stars grew weary. Even after the wind bit cruelly at your skin.
Because the only thing worse than knowing James Potter might never love you again— Was knowing that he once did.
── .✩
You tried everything to make it right.
But he was gone.
He was still there, of course—still James, still a boy with fire in his chest and golden laughter in his throat. But he was no longer your James.
He stopped sitting beside you at breakfast. He stopped brushing against your arm when you walked beside him.
He didn’t meet your eyes when you passed him in the corridor. Didn’t glance at you when Sirius slung an arm around your shoulders in the common room.
It was worse than hatred. Because there was no fire in his eyes. Only distance.
And you were drowning in it.
── .✩
The Marauders noticed. Of course they did.
You were walking beside Remus one morning, heading toward Transfiguration, when he slowed his pace, falling into step beside you. He glanced at you out of the corner of his eye, too perceptive by half.
“You look tired,” he murmured softly.
You offered him a weak smile. “I’m fine.”
Remus sighed, running a hand through his hair. “You’re not fine,” he countered gently, his voice low. “And he’s not fine either.”
You didn’t say anything. You only gripped your books tighter.
And Remus—Remus, who had always known how to read you—lowered his voice slightly.
“He still looks at you, you know,” he murmured, so softly it was nearly lost to the crowd.
Your throat tightened.
You didn’t ask who he meant. You didn’t have to.
── .✩
You tried. Merlin, you tried.
You cornered James in the hallway once, days later.
You didn’t think. You just grabbed his wrist as he walked by, gripping him too tightly, too desperate. His breath hitched slightly at the contact, but he didn’t pull away. He didn’t meet your eyes either.
“James,” you rasped, your voice barely louder than a breath. “Please.”
You didn’t even know what you were begging for. But it didn’t matter.
Because James closed his eyes, as if you hurt him just by standing there, and carefully pried your hand from his wrist.
And he walked away without saying a word.
── .✩
You started avoiding him after that.
If he didn’t want you, you wouldn’t force him to see you. You let him have his space. You sat at the Slytherin table for meals again, pretending you didn’t feel his eyes burning into your back.
You stopped walking by the Quidditch pitch in the evenings, unwilling to watch him practice, unwilling to risk seeing him so golden and alive when you were breaking apart.
You no longer reached for him when you were cold. You no longer leaned against him in the common room. You no longer laughed when he tugged at your hair or stole the last of your pumpkin pasty.
And you told yourself it was for the best.
But oh— It hurt.
── .✩
You were going to give up.
You had almost made your peace with it. Almost.
Until that night.
── .✩
It was raining. The sort of rain that slapped against the windows in sheets, a relentless downpour that filled the corridors with a low, mournful hum.
You had been walking back from the library, exhausted and hollow-eyed, your boots heavy against the stone floor. Your hair was damp from the drizzle that had clung to you on your way back from the Owlery.
You didn’t even see him at first.
James was standing by the window at the end of the corridor, his back turned to you. His hands were braced against the sill, shoulders hunched slightly, damp curls clinging to the nape of his neck.
You should have walked away. You should have kept going.
But you didn’t.
You stood there, watching him in the half-light, letting yourself pretend for one final moment that he still belonged to you.
And then you turned. Ready to leave. Ready to walk away.
But then he spoke.
“Don’t.”
His voice was low, hoarse—so quiet you barely heard it over the rain.
You froze, your breath catching in your throat.
And slowly, slowly, James turned around.
You saw his face, and your heart splintered. Because he was staring at you the way he once did. Like he was falling. Like he was still falling.
And then he was moving. Two steps, then three— And suddenly he was right in front of you, too close, his chest heaving slightly.
For a heartbeat, neither of you moved. You only stared at each other— Breathless. Broken.
And then he cupped your face with trembling hands, his thumbs brushing over your cheeks as if memorizing the shape of you.
“I hate you,” he rasped.
Your throat tightened.
“I know,” you whispered brokenly.
But James shook his head sharply, his grip tightening slightly. His voice cracked, raw and uneven.
“No, you don’t,” he choked. “I hate you for making me fall in love with you, knowing you’d leave.” His breath hitched. “I hate you for letting me hold you when you already belonged to a different time.”
You squeezed your eyes shut, a sharp sob splintering in your throat. “James—”
But his hands tightened on your face, trembling slightly, pulling you closer.
“And I hate,” he whispered brokenly, forehead pressed against yours, “that I never stopped loving you.”
You let out a soft, broken sob— And then you were kissing him.
Hard. Furious. Desperate.
Your hands fisted in his robes, dragging him closer, anchoring yourself to him. And James—James was everywhere. His hands slipped into your hair, fingers tangling desperately, as if he could keep you there forever.
When you pulled away, both of you were gasping. His forehead pressed against yours, his breath uneven, his eyes burning.
“You idiot,” you whispered softly, trembling against him. “You absolute idiot. I was never going to leave you.”
James let out a low, choked sound, half-sob, half-laugh, and then he was kissing you again.
And this time— When he held you, He didn’t let go.
── .✩
You stayed. Time bent for you.
The war came. You fought beside him. You saved them all—James, Lily, Harry. The future was rewritten, the grief undone.
And when you stood with James beneath the canopy of a thousand stars, his hands holding yours, you pressed your lips to his knuckles and whispered,
“I would have loved you in every timeline, you know.”
And he smiled. Because he already knew.
── .✩
Time is not linear. It bends for love. It always does.
── .✩
You never thought you’d get to see it—the future you were fighting for.
But somehow, impossibly, you did. And it was beautiful.
── .✩
The war ended differently this time.
Voldemort fell. Not in the ruins of Godric’s Hollow or the halls of Hogwarts, but in a forest clearing, far from the children who should never have had to bleed for a future that should have been theirs.
You were there beside James. You fought with him—back to back, his voice hoarse with spells and shouted warnings, his hand reaching for yours even in the chaos.
And when it was over—when the last curse had been cast and the world stood still—James found you in the crowd.
His hands were shaking when he grabbed you. His knuckles bloodied, his robes torn, his hair damp with sweat. But his eyes were bright and wild and alive.
And he kissed you like you were oxygen. Like he had spent a lifetime holding his breath. Like he had been waiting for you across a thousand timelines.
── .✩
You stood beside him when the world was rebuilt.
You were there when Sirius was declared innocent, when he was free to walk into the sun with his head held high, grinning like a boy unburdened by ghosts.
You were there when Remus spoke softly in the quiet hours of the morning, voice trembling with hope, confessing that he had always wanted more than to simply survive.
You were there when Harry was born—alive and safe. When James held his son in his arms and cried without shame, his tears falling into the wild tufts of black hair on the baby’s head.
And you were there when James placed a trembling kiss against your temple, Harry cradled between you, and whispered,
“We did it.”
── .✩
Two years later, you were standing beside James at Lily and Severus’s wedding.
You had almost laughed when the invitation arrived. The ornate script, written in Lily’s elegant hand, had carried far too much smugness for a simple piece of parchment. The words had been formal and lovely, but you could still hear her voice in them—sweet and knowing, the subtext far too clear.
Told you so.
And now, standing in the evening glow of the wedding canopy, you watched as the girl with fire-bright hair clasped her hands with the boy who had once nearly lost her forever.
Severus stood at the altar, tall and lean, still a little stoic, still a little brooding—but there was softness in his eyes. A gentleness in the way he held Lily’s hands, his thumb brushing over her knuckles with quiet reverence.
And Lily—oh, she was radiant. Her hair was loose and wild, tumbling down her back in copper curls, adorned with tiny white flowers that twined through the strands. Her smile was bright enough to soften even Snape’s sharp edges, her eyes crinkling slightly at the corners as she gazed at him with unguarded adoration.
You glanced at James, who was watching them with a boyish grin, his arms folded lazily across his chest. His hair was windswept and unruly as always, the golden sunset catching the edges and turning them molten.
“They’re going to be insufferable about this, you know,” James murmured with a grin, leaning slightly into your side.
You hummed softly, tilting your head toward him. “Oh, absolutely. Lily will probably gloat about being right for the next decade.”
James smirked, dark eyes glinting with mischief. “Ten galleons says Snivellus cries during the vows.”
You shot him a deadpan look. “James, you can’t bet on their wedding.”
But he only grinned wider. “What, afraid you’ll lose?”
You rolled your eyes but fought a smile, elbowing him lightly in the ribs.
And when Lily walked down the aisle—when Severus turned toward her with something painfully soft in his eyes—James slipped his hand into yours.
His fingers wove between yours, warm and steady. His thumb brushed slow circles against your palm, as if he were trying to memorize the shape of your hand.
And when you glanced at him— He was already looking at you.
His eyes were dark and golden and entirely too soft, shining with something far too raw for a wedding.
And you knew. Right then. That he was thinking about every version of you he had ever lost. Every version of you he had loved.
And so you leaned over slightly, your voice barely louder than a breath.
“Stop looking at me like that, Potter,” you murmured teasingly.
James’s lips curved slightly, but his eyes didn’t soften. They only burned brighter.
“Like what?” he whispered, his voice barely louder than the breeze, laced with unmistakable reverence.
“Like you’re in love with me,” you teased softly, arching a playful brow.
And James—James smiled softly, eyes molten with warmth, voice rough with emotion.
“I am in love with you,” he whispered simply.
And then he was leaning down, brushing his lips against yours—slow and gentle, as if the whole world had slowed just for you.
── .✩
Later, when the sun had dipped below the horizon and the stars spilled carelessly across the sky, you stood in the garden with James, Harry fast asleep in his arms.
The evening was warm, the wind gentle, carrying the faint sound of music from the reception. The canopy was still aglow with golden lights, casting everything in soft, honeyed hues.
You watched as James shifted Harry carefully in his arms, his hand splayed protectively across his son’s back. The baby snuffled softly against his chest, tiny hands curled into fists, his breathing slow and steady.
You reached out, brushing a soft lock of hair from Harry’s forehead, and James glanced at you.
For a moment, neither of you spoke. You only stood there, bathed in the amber glow of the evening, watching the stars blink sleepily overhead.
And then James, voice barely louder than a whisper, murmured,
“Marry me.”
You froze.
Your eyes flicked to him, searching his face—certain you had misheard. But James was only looking at you softly, his eyes wide and unguarded, his voice steady despite the slight tremor in his hand.
You stared at him, your heart stuttering violently.
“James,” you breathed softly, barely able to say his name.
But he only smiled. Soft and slow and so achingly sincere.
“Marry me,” he whispered again. His voice was hoarse, barely louder than a breath. “I—I know it’s sudden. I know we’ve already stolen so much time. But—” He exhaled sharply, his voice breaking slightly. “I want this. With you. Always.”
You stared at him, your throat tightening, your eyes burning with tears you couldn’t hold back.
And when you reached for him—when your hand pressed against his cheek and you nodded, unable to speak through the lump in your throat—James let out a shaky, disbelieving breath.
And he kissed you.
Soft and trembling and impossibly tender, tasting of hope and home and every version of you he had ever loved.
And you kissed him back— Knowing that this time, In this life, You were his forever.
── .✩
Love is timeless. It does not belong to one lifetime. It exists across all of them.
── .✩
You were trembling.
Not with fear, not exactly. But with something bigger. Something heavier.
The morning sun spilled through the enormous windows of the bridal suite, bathing everything in soft, golden hues. You stood barefoot on the cool stone floor, wrapped in a silk dressing gown, staring at your reflection in the floor-length mirror.
Your fingers were cold. Your knees felt a little weak.
You were getting married. To James Potter.
And somehow, the thought made it harder to breathe.
Not because you were afraid. But because the weight of happiness pressed so fiercely against your chest, you thought it might shatter you.
── .✩
“Are you trying to hyperventilate, or does that just come naturally?”
You glanced over your shoulder to find Bellatrix standing in the doorway, one dark brow arched, her lips curled into a smirk.
She was stunning, as always, dressed in elegant silver robes that caught the morning light, the fabric shimmering faintly as she stepped into the room. Her black curls tumbled in perfect, wicked waves down her back, and her eyes glimmered with mischief.
But when she saw the trembling in your hands, the playful glint softened slightly.
“Hey,” she murmured, striding over, her voice low and surprisingly gentle. She took your hands in hers, squeezing them slightly. “You’re all right.”
You let out a shaky breath, laughing weakly. “I feel like I might pass out.”
Bellatrix’s lips twitched faintly. “I mean, if you want to cause a scene at your own wedding, be my guest. Would be pretty dramatic. Very on brand.”
You let out a watery laugh, squeezing her hands.
And then you felt a soft hand on your shoulder.
Narcissa appeared beside you, her pale blonde hair cascading in soft waves over her shoulders. She was elegant and ethereal, dressed in ice-blue robes that brought out the sharp cut of her eyes. But her voice, as always, was soft.
“You look beautiful,” she murmured, reaching out to brush a stray lock of hair from your face.
You swallowed thickly, your throat tightening.
And then there was Lily.
She stepped into the room, her auburn hair glimmering with tiny pearls woven into the braid that circled her crown. Her smile was impossibly bright, her eyes warm with too much emotion.
She held up a handkerchief dramatically. “Don’t even think about crying yet,” she teased, her voice trembling slightly despite her playful tone. “Save it for the aisle, or I swear, I’ll hex you.”
You let out a strangled laugh, already blinking back tears.
And when the three of them crowded around you—Bellatrix playfully poking at your hair, Narcissa fastening the delicate bracelet around your wrist, and Lily brushing a bit of gloss onto your lips—you felt the trembling in your hands finally still.
── .✩
The music began to play.
You stood at the edge of the garden, your hands trembling slightly around the bouquet of white lilies and wildflowers. The sun was warm against your face, the sky a soft, cloudless blue, the air perfumed with the scent of roses and honeysuckle.
And then— Harry, your precious little ring bearer, toddled out onto the stone pathway.
He was dressed in a tiny, perfectly tailored black suit, with his wild black hair sticking up in every possible direction. He held the little velvet pillow in his small hands, his bright green eyes wide with delight as the crowd let out a collective coo.
When he spotted you standing in the archway, his face split into a gap-toothed grin, and he squealed,
“Mummy!”
You let out a watery laugh, your chest tightening painfully.
But when you finally took that first step— When you slowly made your way down the aisle, surrounded by the people you loved— Your eyes found only one person.
James.
And oh, he was already crying.
You saw him before he saw you. Standing there at the end of the aisle, dressed in tailored black dress robes, the collar slightly askew, his hair hopelessly messy in that perfectly disheveled way. His hands were trembling faintly at his sides, his lips parted slightly as he stared at you.
And when his eyes finally met yours— His breath caught audibly in his throat.
You saw the moment it hit him. The moment he realized that this was real. That he wasn’t dreaming. That you were walking toward him— To be his. Forever.
And then he let out a sharp, uneven breath, his eyes glimmering with unshed tears. He dragged a hand roughly through his hair, laughing wetly through the emotion clogging his throat.
Sirius, standing beside him, smirked and clapped him roughly on the back, grinning smugly. “Told you you’d cry, mate.”
James sniffled, his voice breaking slightly. “Shut up, Pads.”
And then his eyes were back on you.
And he was beaming. Like he was seeing the sun for the first time. Like he was falling in love with you all over again.
You barely remembered walking the rest of the way. All you could see was him.
And when you finally reached him—when he took your trembling hands in his—you felt your whole chest constrict.
Because he was crying so softly, his thumbs brushing over your knuckles as if he were trying to memorize the shape of you. His hands were warm and trembling, his voice rough with emotion.
“You’re so beautiful,” he choked, voice barely louder than a breath. His eyes burned fiercely, glassy and golden. “You’re—you’re so beautiful, love.”
You let out a watery laugh, squeezing his hands.
And then the vows came.
James was shaking slightly when he slipped the ring onto your finger. His voice cracked halfway through the words, and he let out a shaky, breathless laugh, blinking rapidly.
His hands were warm, his eyes glassy and reverent as he whispered the words against your knuckles.
“I choose you,” he murmured, his voice trembling. “I’ll always choose you. In every time, in every life. It’s you.”
And when you pressed your trembling lips to his—when you felt his hands tighten desperately at your waist, holding you as though you might slip away—you knew.
That you had never belonged to just one lifetime. You had belonged to all of them. To him. Always.
── .✩
Later, when the sun was low and the garden was alight with golden lanterns, you stood with James in the orchard.
The reception carried on behind you—the clinking of glasses and soft laughter drifting through the night—but James didn’t seem to care.
He had abandoned his tie long ago, and his hair was a mess of unruly curls, golden in the lantern glow. His arms were wrapped around you, holding you too tightly, as if he was still afraid you might disappear.
“You’re mine now,” he whispered playfully against your ear, his voice low and honeyed, pressing soft kisses against your neck.
You smiled against his shoulder. “I was always yours.”
James pulled back slightly, eyes dark and molten. His voice softened, barely louder than a breath.
“You’re the best thing that ever happened to me,” he whispered hoarsely.
And when you kissed him beneath the canopy of golden lights, with the stars spilling wide and endless above you, James Potter held you like he had loved you across a thousand timelines.
Because he had. And he always would.
── .✩
Time had bent for you. It had splintered and unraveled and stitched itself back together just to bring you here— Into his arms. Where you were always meant to be.
── .✩
The stars were burning softly above the orchard, spilling across the inky blackness in glimmering constellations, as if the entire universe had come to witness the ending of your story.
Or rather, the beginning of it.
Because you weren’t running anymore. You weren’t slipping between timelines or losing yourself to fate. You were here—rooted firmly in this life, this time, with James Potter’s hands tangled in yours.
And Merlin, he was still looking at you like he couldn’t quite believe you were real.
── .✩
The reception was still alive behind you—laughter and music floating lazily through the orchard. Golden lanterns swung gently from the low branches, casting honeyed light over the dark grass.
But James didn’t seem to notice any of it.
You were his whole world.
His tie was long discarded, and his robes hung loosely around him, a few buttons undone at his collar. His hair—already unruly from the hours of dancing—was an utter mess, windswept and falling into his eyes in hopeless curls.
He was absolutely breathtaking.
And he was holding you too tightly, like he still wasn’t entirely convinced you were real.
“Merlin, I can’t stop looking at you,” he murmured, his voice rough with something deeper than reverence. His thumb brushed slowly over the back of your hand. “You’re so—bloody hell, look at you.”
You let out a breathless laugh, warmth blooming in your chest. “You’re making me sound like some divine vision, Potter,” you teased softly.
James’s lips curved slightly, but his eyes softened with something almost dangerous—something entirely too raw and reverent.
“Because you are,” he murmured, his voice so low it made your skin flush.
Your breath caught slightly at the weight of his words. At the warmth in his eyes. At the softness in his touch.
And then—because you were helpless against him—you reached up, brushing your fingers softly through his windswept hair. You let the tips of your fingers trail down the side of his face, tracing the sharp edge of his jaw.
James’s eyes fluttered shut for a moment. His breath stuttered slightly, the warmth of it fanning against your wrist.
And when he opened them again— His eyes were dark. Molten. Utterly ruined by you.
── .✩
You didn’t know how long you stood there, swaying slightly in the golden lamplight. You didn’t know how many times James pressed his lips to your knuckles, as if trying to memorize the feel of you in his hands.
But you knew that you weren’t in a hurry.
You let him pull you close, let him bury his face against your neck, breathing you in like you were air. His arms were loose around your waist, his thumbs slipping beneath the fabric of your dress, brushing slow, idle circles against the small of your back.
And when you shifted slightly in his arms, leaning into him— James let out a low, breathless sound that made your skin flush beneath the fabric of your dress.
── .✩
“Dance with me,” he murmured against your ear, his breath warm against your throat.
You let out a breathless laugh. “James, there’s no music out here.”
But he only pulled back slightly, his eyes glimmering with boyish mischief. “Since when do I need music to dance with my wife?”
The word wife sent a shiver down your spine, settling warm and heavy in your chest. And he must have seen it in your eyes. Because James’s lips curled into a wicked grin.
“Oh, you like that, don’t you?” he murmured, voice low and teasing, his nose brushing lightly against yours. “You like being my wife.”
You let out a soft, breathless laugh, rolling your eyes. “I suppose it has its perks,” you teased lightly.
James’s grin widened, his voice a low, playful rasp. “Oh, does it?”
And then he was spinning you in the dim light of the orchard, twirling you beneath the canopy of golden lanterns, his hands warm and steady in yours.
You laughed breathlessly as he tugged you close, arms winding securely around you. You pressed your face against his chest, letting the steady rhythm of his heartbeat settle against your cheek.
And James— James pressed his lips against your temple, his voice a low, lazy drawl.
“You’re stuck with me now,” he murmured playfully against your hair, his hands sliding slowly, reverently over your back. “No take-backs. You married me. It’s legally binding and everything.”
You let out a soft, breathless laugh, tilting your head back to meet his eyes. And Merlin, he was still looking at you with so much love it made your knees weak.
“Oh, I think I’ll manage,” you teased lightly, brushing your fingertips over the back of his neck.
James’s eyes glimmered with warmth, but his voice softened, barely louder than a breath.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered reverently, as if saying it too loudly would shatter you. His thumb traced along your cheekbone, eyes dark with awe. “You’re—you’re so bloody beautiful, love.”
You leaned into his touch, your lips parting softly.
And then he was kissing you.
Softly at first. Slow and reverent, his lips barely brushing over yours— As if he were still tasting the promise of forever on your mouth.
But then— Then the kiss deepened.
James’s hands slid lower, gripping your waist tightly, pulling you flush against him. You let out a soft, surprised gasp, and James swallowed the sound with a low, breathless hum, his lips dragging over yours with slow, teasing purpose.
His fingers splayed over the small of your back, slipping just beneath the fabric of your dress, his touch impossibly warm. He pressed you closer, as if he could make you a part of him— As if he were still afraid you might slip through his fingers.
“Merlin, I love you,” he rasped against your lips, his voice low and uneven, hoarse with longing. His teeth grazed your bottom lip slightly, sending a delicious shiver down your spine.
And oh— You were trembling slightly in his arms. Not with nervousness. But with want.
And James— James, who had always been golden and mischievous and utterly smitten— Noticed immediately.
His eyes darkened slightly. His lips parted faintly, breath uneven.
“Love,” he murmured lowly, his voice rough around the edges, “if you keep looking at me like that, I might do something utterly indecent at our wedding reception.”
You let out a breathless laugh, cheeks flushing faintly. “Oh? That’s unlike you, Potter,” you teased, your voice barely louder than a murmur.
And James— Oh, he grinned wickedly, lowering his mouth to your ear.
“You have no idea, Mrs. Potter.”
His voice was a low rasp, his lips grazing the shell of your ear with slow, torturous reverence. His breath was warm against your skin, and his fingers—Merlin, his fingers were dangerously slow as they traced teasing circles along your spine.
Your breath caught slightly, your heart hammering violently in your chest. And James—James only grinned wider.
“Shall we sneak away, love?” he murmured silkily, brushing a teasing kiss against your throat, lips warm and deliberate. “Or do I have to suffer through another hour of dancing with respectable people before I get you all to myself?”
You laughed softly, breathless, your cheeks warm and flushed.
And when you leaned up on your toes, brushing your lips teasingly against his, you whispered,
“Take me home, Mr. Potter.”
And James— James smiled against your lips, utterly ruined by you. Because you already were. You always had been. His home.
── .✩
The universe had been cruel. It had torn you from your timeline, stripped you from the arms of the people you loved, and scattered you across history. But in return— It gave you this. Him. Them. A future you had never dared to dream of.
── .✩
The cottage was small, but it was yours.
Tucked away in the countryside, hidden behind sprawling fields of wildflowers and enchanted thickets, it stood like something out of a dream. The stone walls were weathered but sturdy, honey-gold in the morning sun. The windows were always open, letting in the scent of lavender and fresh-cut grass, and the chimney was forever puffing lazy ribbons of smoke into the sky.
It wasn’t grand. It wasn’t a manor. But it was warm and worn and safe. And it was home.
── .✩
You awoke slowly to the feel of warm, slightly chapped lips pressing soft, lazy kisses along your shoulder.
You let out a drowsy sigh, rolling over slightly to meet James’s half-lidded gaze. His hair was an absolute mess—dark and rumpled and deliciously wild against the pillows. His eyes were still heavy with sleep, golden in the morning light, and he was looking at you like you were the first sunrise he had ever seen.
“Morning, Mrs. Potter,” he murmured hoarsely, voice thick with sleep, his lips brushing lightly over the tip of your nose.
You smiled faintly, brushing a hand through his hair. “Morning, Mr. Potter.”
James let out a soft, contented hum, burying his face into the curve of your neck. His arms tightened slightly around your waist, pulling you closer, as if the entire bed were too big without you in his arms.
“Mmm, don’t move,” he grumbled drowsily, his voice muffled against your skin. “You’re warm. Stay right here. Forever.”
You let out a sleepy laugh, running your fingers lazily through the thick curls at the nape of his neck.
But then— A loud crash echoed from the hallway, followed by the unmistakable sound of something heavy hitting the floor.
You and James froze.
Then— The distinct sound of tiny, gleeful giggles.
James groaned dramatically, his face still buried against your throat. “Your son is a menace,” he mumbled, voice muffled with mock exhaustion.
You smiled, brushing your lips lightly against the crown of his head. “Our son,” you corrected softly, but there was nothing but adoration in your voice.
James let out a low, exaggerated groan, flopping onto his back. “Merlin help me.”
And then the bedroom door burst open.
“Da!! Mummy!!”
Harry, still in his little blue pajamas, came sprinting into the room, clutching a suspiciously bent toy broom in one hand. His wild black hair was an absolute disaster—sticking up in every possible direction, an adorable replica of his father’s morning mess. His green eyes were wide with childish delight, a bright, mischievous grin tugging at his tiny lips.
He launched himself onto the bed with absolutely no regard for either of you.
James let out a low oof as Harry pounced onto his chest, sprawling over him with all the elegance of a baby thestral.
“Merlin’s beard, Prongs Junior!” James groaned dramatically, mock-gasping for air. “You’re going to break my ribs, you absolute menace.”
But Harry only grinned wider, clearly unimpressed with his father’s suffering, and bounced gleefully on James’s chest.
James made a loud, strangled, dying-man sort of sound, throwing his head back with mock agony. “Darling!! Help me! Our son is trying to murder me!”
You arched a brow, lips twitching. “Oh no,” you deadpanned flatly. “How tragic.”
James shot you an utterly betrayed look, gaping at you like you had personally destroyed his soul.
“You betrayed me, wife?” he gasped, clutching his chest dramatically.
Harry squealed with delight at his father’s theatrics, utterly oblivious to James’s Oscar-worthy performance of a man meeting his untimely end.
You simply shook your head with mock solemnity, rolling your eyes. “Potter, you’re being outwitted by a four-year-old.”
James stared at you, lips twitching with mock indignation, then turned his attention back to the tiny boy currently using him as a human trampoline.
“Oi, you,” he gasped weakly at Harry, voice hoarse with false agony. “Don’t you want to save your dear old dad? Be my hero? My knight in shining armor?”
Harry only giggled maniacally, gripping his bent broomstick and declaring with great importance, “I’m gonna be a seeker!”
James let out a soft, incredulous laugh, eyes bright with warmth.
“Merlin, you’re going to give me a heart attack,” he muttered, ruffling his son’s hair fondly. But he was grinning like a fool, eyes glimmering with a ridiculous amount of pride.
You watched them quietly for a moment. James. Harry. Your entire world pressed into the same bed, giggling beneath the golden morning light.
And just for a moment— You allowed yourself to pretend you had always belonged here.
── .✩
The fireplace roared suddenly with green flames, and in strolled Sirius Black, entirely uninvited.
“Prongs!” Sirius barked cheerfully, arms flung wide as if announcing his arrival to a crowd of thousands. “I come bearing whiskey, terrible advice, and absolutely no concept of personal boundaries!”
James’s grin widened immediately. “Now there’s my responsible fatherhood role model.”
You groaned softly, covering your face with one hand. “Oh no.”
But it was already too late.
Sirius strolled into the living room like he owned the place, his black hair tousled in artful disarray, a cocky grin tugging at his lips. He bent down dramatically, ruffling Harry’s hair with enough force to make the boy squeal with delighted laughter.
“Look at you, little menace!” Sirius crowed, plucking Harry off the ground with exaggerated flair, tossing him lightly in the air. “Merlin, you’re almost as big as your old man.”
Harry squealed gleefully, grabbing at Sirius’s hair with tiny fists.
James’s eyes widened slightly. “Oi, gently, Padfoot!” he barked, though he was grinning far too widely to be genuinely concerned.
But before James could intervene, Remus strolled in through the front door, already exuding the aura of the only sane person in the room.
He shook his head fondly, running a hand through his sandy hair. “Honestly, I don’t know why I still expect you lot to act like responsible adults.”
Sirius snorted loudly, tossing Harry lightly onto the couch with a dramatic flourish.
“Responsible adults?” he sneered with mock outrage, planting a hand on his chest. “I’ll have you know, Moony, I once drank half a bottle of Fire whiskey, dueled a goblin, and convinced a centaur to let me ride him through the Forbidden Forest—all in the same night.”
Remus arched a brow, utterly unimpressed. “You also got a month’s detention and lost two teeth, if I recall correctly.”
Sirius’s eyes narrowed slightly. “That’s slander, Lupin. Absolute slander.”
You let out a soft, breathless laugh, watching them fondly. And for a moment— Just for a moment— You forgot that they had once been nothing but memories. Phantom faces in a future you could no longer reach. For now, they were here. They were real. And Merlin, you held on to them like they might slip through your fingers.
── .✩
The cottage was silent that evening—Harry long since tucked into bed, his tiny hands clutching the worn stag plush James had gifted him.
You stood by the window, staring out at the endless black, your breath fogging the glass.
And when you closed your eyes, you could see them.
Ron, throwing his head back in laughter, eyes glinting with boyish mischief. Hermione’s soft, steady voice as she carefully unwound the impossible knots of the world with quiet brilliance. And Harry—your Harry— Older. Burdened. Carrying too much weight for one boy.
You pressed your palm lightly to the windowpane, as if you could reach through the glass and touch the life you left behind.
But it was James who found you. Always.
You didn’t hear him enter the room. But you felt his arms slip around you from behind, warm and familiar. Without a word, he pressed his lips softly to your shoulder.
“Can’t sleep, darling?” he murmured softly, voice low and sleep-rough.
You swallowed thickly, leaning back into him, your fingers tangling loosely with his.
“Just thinking,” you whispered faintly.
James was quiet for a moment. And then— He squeezed you a little tighter.
“About them?” he asked softly, no accusation in his voice. Only understanding.
You nodded, your breath hitching slightly. And James— He pressed his lips against the curve of your jaw, his voice barely louder than a breath.
“You don’t have to forget them, my love,” he murmured, softly, reverently. “You just have to keep living.”
And you let him hold you. Because somehow, James knew how to make the grief feel a little softer. A little quieter. Like something you could carry, rather than be crushed beneath.
── .✩
The evening was soft and golden, the fire crackling faintly in the hearth. James was slouched in the armchair, legs dangling lazily over the side, a book balanced haphazardly on his chest. His hair was a complete mess, dark curls tumbling over his forehead.
You sat on the couch with your legs tucked beneath you, an old quilt draped over your lap, fingers absentmindedly running over the worn fabric.
The room was quiet, save for the occasional flutter of parchment as James absentmindedly flipped a page.
Then— Without warning, James’s voice broke the silence.
“Do you ever regret it?” he asked softly, his voice barely louder than a whisper.
You blinked, looking over at him, your breath catching slightly at the softness in his eyes.
“Regret what?” you asked faintly, though you already knew.
James’s eyes didn’t leave yours. “Staying,” he murmured, voice quiet and earnest. “Choosing me. Choosing this life.”
Your chest tightened slightly at the rawness in his voice—the quiet, vulnerable plea behind his words.
You were silent for a long moment. And then— You rose slowly from the couch, padding across the room and climbing into his lap.
James’s arms wound around you immediately, pulling you closer, holding you like he was still afraid you might slip away.
You pressed your lips softly to his temple, voice low and trembling with certainty.
“Never,” you whispered fiercely. “Not for a second.”
James let out a breathless sound, somewhere between a laugh and a sob, burying his face into the crook of your neck.
And he held you. And you held him back. And the life you left behind—the one you would always carry with you—felt a little lighter, a little softer.
Because here, in this time, In this life, You were home.

The Other Side~ continued
(Poly! Marauders x Reader)
Pt. 1
1.4k words
Summary: You wake up in a strange and unfamiliar place. What will you do when confronted with a chance to change your fate? Will you decide to switch to the other side?
My parents are going to kill me.
That’s the first thought that crosses your mind as you regain consciousness. The room you wake up in is dark. It was small, yet somehow felt empty. Like if you let out a scream its echo would reverberate infinitely.
You’re lying on a twin bed in the corner of the room. There’s a quilt beneath you, worn with age, but so masterfully crafted that it hardly showed. You run your fingers over it absentmindedly as you spy the only other piece of furniture in the room: a desk. You sit up slowly and hang your feet off the side of the bed. Sleep still tugs at you, but curiosity, fear, and a gnawing hunger win out.
You make your way over to the desk to investigate. It’s a light oak, and has clearly seen years of use. Light scratches litter its surface, seemingly from a mix of stray quills and frustrated fingernails. Opening one small drawer on the side, you're disappointed to find nothing. But when you check the other drawer, a small letter opener gleams in the dim light. You quickly take the tool and hold it tightly in your hand.
Looking around the room further, you find books strewn across the floor, as well as posters hanging from the walls. The posters featured both bands, and pictures of scantily clad women. The room practically screamed Sirius Black. But if that was the case, where the hell were you? Certainly not the home of Orion and Walburga Black. They had more loyalty to you then Sirius.
You went through possibilities in your mind. Was this the Order’s headquarters? It couldn’t be, you considered yourself too much of a threat to think they would keep you there. Though maybe that was your pride, and a bit of fear talking. You didn’t dwell on these looming thoughts for long. A cheerful knock came at the door, entirely inappropriate for the situation, you thought.
Unsurprisingly, James Potter strolled through the door moments later. “Good morning! I was beginning to think Moony had brewed the sleeping draught wrong. You’ve been out for hours.”
That revelation caused your fear to spike. You’ve been out for hours around three men who you’re not entirely convinced don’t want to kill you. You back up slowly, moving so that the desk stands between you and James. His brows furrowed in confusion for a split second before he looked at you.
“Hey, I’m not going to hurt you. I know how you death eaters do things, but we’re not like that.” You wanted to defend yourself from his insinuation, but realized it would be of no use. He was right, if the roles were reversed, James would likely be dead by now.
“How lucky am I then,” you responded drily. James, looking unperturbed, took a few steps toward you. You hadn’t noticed before, but he held a bowl in his hands. It was then that you noticed the growing hunger you felt. You hadn’t eaten anything the night before, too anxious about your assignment. Judging by the faint light coming from behind a curtained window, you assumed it was now mid morning.
James set the bowl down on the desk. You peered over to see a gruel-like substance you could only assume was oatmeal. Granted, it was relatively nice gruel with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas all neatly cut up and arranged on top. You considered being difficult and refusing to eat, claiming to think the food was poisoned and all. But to be frank, you didn’t really care. You were hungry, there was food, and they hadn’t killed you yet. If arsenic-laced oatmeal was your way out, then so be it.
You grabbed the bowl, perhaps too eagerly. Carefully holding the bowl in the same hand you kept the letter opener, you grabbed the spoon and were on your way to taking a bite when a loud commotion could be heard from a floor down. You assumed that meant wherever you were had a downstairs, and perhaps a main door you could sneak out of.
James heard the ruckus as well, and hurriedly stepped out of the room to check it out. He was so rushed that he had forgotten to close the door behind him. You followed after James quietly. You made it to the hallway, and looked around for any way to make it to the main level. A flash of James’ black curls caught your attention and led you to a set of stairs. You held your breath as you stepped down, willing the stairs to be quiet.
Taking careful strides, you reached a small landing; from it, you could see a living area and the kitchen. James, Sirius, and Remus were all gathered in the kitchen. Sirius was at the sink and running water over his hand. Remus and James were near, smiling widely as they presumably teased Sirius for whatever slip up had just occurred.
The sight just beyond the kitchen is what truly interested you, though. There stood a door. It was plain-looking. Entirely unassuming to most, but to you, it was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. The marauders had been fine hosts so far, aside from kidnapping and drugging you. But you were very much ready to get back home. You slyly made it the rest of the way down the stairs without any unwanted attention.
However, in order to reach the door, you would have to cross directly in front of the kitchen. There was no way around it, so you braced yourself with a steadying breath, and then made a run for it. Everything was quiet for a few seconds. Hell, you had made it to the door and were fiddling with the handle before the first surprised “Oi!” was heard.
You kept trying the handle, jangling it with increasing force as footsteps got closer. All hope drained from your chest as you realized that the door was locked. If you had your wand, you’d be able to mutter a quick incantation, but, of course, the three men quickly approaching you had already thought of that.
“Missing something?” Sirius tauntingly questioned as he waved your aforementioned wand above his head. You bit your lip to stop yourself from saying anything that could put you into any more danger.
“Don’t be a dick,” Remus lightly shouldered past Sirius, getting closer to you.
“Oi, I’m not the one who just tried to run out on us- a bit rude if I’m being quite honest, darling,” Sirius looked at you with humor in his eyes. You, however, did not think any of this situation was funny. Perhaps noticing the distaste in your expression, Remus speaks again, “Just ignore him,” he continues before Sirius can interject, “Look, to be completely honest here, we want you on our side.”
You have to stop yourself from laughing. Remus goes on, “I can already read the look on your face. I know this sounds crazy, but just think about your life; have you ever wanted this? Has it been your life-long dream to serve Voldemort and inflict pain on innocent people?” His words hit you like a blow to the chest. “See, I don’t believe that you really desire the life you’re living, I think you’re destined for so much more.”
What Remus lays out is enticing, but it’s a fantasy that you can’t let yourself get wrapped up in. You school your features into a neutral expression, “This whole speech is really cute, but are you done yet? I’ve got other places I’d really rather be.”
None of the men in front of you seem surprised by your disinterest, rather, it seems like they were expecting it. It’s Sirius who steps forward next, “I know what it’s like for your parents to set up a whole life for you. One full of expectations, dark shit that you don’t want to do. But this doesn’t have to be it- you can do something better. Trust me, I’ve been in a pretty similar position.”
Sirius’ words sit with you for a moment. If anyone knew how you felt at this moment, it would be him. A dizzying feeling of anxiety enters your chest at realization of what you’re about to do.
“
what did you have in mind?”

would you like a piece? | sirius black x reader
summary: you fall victim to sirius' flirting, but you aren't the only one who gets flustered.
warnings: introverted reader; of-age drinking/smoking; heavy flirting; kissing; uhmmm
 sharing gum? idk
<3 thank you for all your sweet words on my last fic! i haven’t had this much motivation to do anything fun for just myself outside of work in ages, so this has been good for me. and people actually liking something i write?? unfathomable but i am so happy about it. xoxo!
“Sorry, I’ve forgot my manners. Would you like a piece?” you ask him, face flushing once again.
“Yes, please.” He replies sweetly. When you start to reach into your pocket, he speaks again, “No, no. I want that one.” As he points to
 your mouth?
*ੈ✩‧₊˚àŒșâ˜†àŒ»*ੈ✩‧₊˚
“You will be there tonight, end of story.”
You’re rifling through your purse in search of your wallet, needing it to pay for the candle you found in the clearance section of your favorite shop, but also needing it as an excuse to ignore your very persistent friend.
“You never come to any of our parties! I’m starting to think that it's because you hate me.” James whined, following close behind you as you thank the cashier and head for the door. He beats you to it, standing directly in your way. You huff and look up at him in half fake annoyance.
“Please, Y/N. Lily misses you dearly.” He all but begs.
“Sure. She misses me for my brilliant baking skills.” You tease. You’re pushing past him, out into the warm breeze.
He is nothing if not stubborn. “Would we be heartbroken if you brought that delicious blueberry panna cotta you make? No! But we would be heartbroken without your charming company.” He insists.
The thing is, you have been to much more of James and Lily’s get togethers than he is giving you credit for. So many, in fact, that you know it will go poorly. The group is much too vibrant for you to keep up with at times, and lately you’ve been favoring your quiet home over the excitement of socializing. Lately as in, always. But you can’t say no to James, he’s much too kind to let down. The whole group is too kind, having welcomed you in with open arms even if you are quite shy.
So, you can’t say no. Especially since James has essentially stalked you down while you’re out on your weekend errands with the intent to persuade you to hang out them. It’s not my fault you are impossible to reach by owl, he had said in his defense.
“Alright, I’ll be there.” You concede. Before he can get too excited, you hold a finger up, “But, I will be bringing biscuits, not panna cotta.” You wait for disappointment, but instead are met with a strong, brotherly bear hug and a smacking kiss on the top of your head.
“Wonderful! I knew you didn’t hate me.” He exclaims as he lets you go, glasses now crooked from his excitement.
“I’m going for Lily.” You say, deadpan.

Later in the evening, your room is now an awful mess of clothes from how many outfits you’ve tried on and taken off, finally ending up wearing the very first outfit you tried on. Afraid now that you are a splinch risk from how active your nerves are, the decision to walk to the party is an easy one. Luckily the weather is nice, and their place is only a few blocks from yours. Why James didn’t just come to bug you at your front door is a mystery.
After a short walk, you've found yourself in front of their wooden front door, adjusting the tote bag of sweets you brought with you on your shoulder for the millionth time since you started your walk. You had made sure to make more than enough to go around. Booming laughter can be heard from outside the door. Shoot, are you that late?
Before you can even knock, the door is being swung open, allowing the laughter to be turned to full volume as well as Lily's bright white smile to blind you.
"You're here! I was sure James was bluffing when he said you'd come." She's enveloping you in a tight hug before you can adjust the bag again, so it falls to the crook of your elbow as you give her a weaker one in return. She pulls away, "Come in! Everyone's already here."
You're ushered in, the door being shut behind you and the laughter having died off. Great, all eyes are now on you. Closest to you, James is sitting on the couch, arm draped across the back of it like Lily had been cuddled there moments ago before she got the door. On the other side of the L shaped furniture sits Dorcas, head laying in Marlene’s lap. Squeezed in the corner next to them is Peter, punch in hand. Remus and Mary sit in the two-person loveseat next to them, a bowl of caramel corn between the two that you will brave up the courage to ask for later. Lastly, Sirius Black. Regrettably the first person you noticed. He’s standing behind the recliner, ringed hands on the back and sleeves rolled up to showcase how well his tattoos contrast with his pale skin. He’s smiling something fierce at you, so naturally, you look away. No one’s saying anything quick enough and you hate it, so you fill the silence.
“I brought two kinds of biscuits.” You raise your arm at an awkward angle, the bag swinging a bit at the movement.
“Y/N!”
“Darling!”
“She lives!”
“BISCUITS!”
Various cheering resigns in your honor, bringing a blush to your face. They really are too kind.
“I’ll take those off your hands, sweetheart. Wouldn’t want your pretty arm getting sore so soon into the night, would we?” Sirius says, gently grabbing the bags handle and sliding it off your forearm, his fingers brushing your skin in the process. You ignore the goosebumps.
“Bullocks, you just want them all to yourself!” Peter all but yells from the couch.
He ignores the accusation, gesturing to the chair he was behind “Please, have a seat.”
You do as you are told as Lily sits back down as well. Sirius takes the tins out of your bag and sets them up on the coffee table, opening them and not-so-sneakily taking two for himself.
“What flavors are there?” Marlene asks quizzically as you take your seat and set your purse down at your feet.
“Raspberry shortbread and double chocolate chip.”
A resounding awe sounds in the room, a few getting up or leaning forward to help themselves. Sirius has made his way back, this time seating himself on the arm of the chair you are sitting in. You see him only out of your peripherals while you listen in on James as he speaks to the room.
“Anyways, that’s when I learned that nifflers are not as friendly as they look.” He scowls in memory. You must have interrupted his story when you arrived, but you can tell even without context that it had been funny.
“Or it just didn’t like you because you’re poor.” Remus suggests with a laugh.
“Oi!”
A loud play fight ensues as you sit back to people watch. Dorcus and Marlene have gone onto their own conversation, Peter too occupied to join with the three biscuits he has managed to fit in his mouth. Mary sips on her drink, trying not to laugh as Remus and James go back and forth, Lily holding the latter’s arm as if he might actually swing. It’s all in good fun, and you are quite enjoying the show.
Moments later you feel a light tap on your shoulder and look over to see that Sirius is still there. He usually makes his presence much more known, so it startles you a bit. He’s holding out a shortbread for you, which you take with a small smile. He holds eye contact for a few seconds, as if inspecting your face, before flashing his own teeth. He looks up to the crowd.
“Gentlemen! Either kiss each other or move on. Now, drinks anyone?” He asks the room, counting who says yes and standing up to head to the kitchen, “Doll, could you lend me a hand?” It takes you one more second than it should to realize he’s talking to you, and you nod quickly and follow behind him.
The both of you reach the kitchen and Sirius starts to set out a row of clear plastic cups. You stand next to him, a good foot between the two of you. “Though, I’m not sure my hands or arms will be of any use. They’re still sore from the journey over here.” You joke, referring to his comment from earlier.
His eyes light up, fully forgetting the task at hand as he turns to you and joins in on the act, “Oh, well that’s no good! They are much too nice to be in any pain. Here,” He’s grabbing at your wrists, “let me make them better.”
You are usually never at the receiving end of Sirius Black’s flirting, and it’s a shock to your very core. Sure, he’s always been unreasonably sweet on you, but this was different. Different because he is now kissing your knuckles. Oh Godric.
All you can do is giggle to hide the fact that you can’t really breathe as he finishes planting kisses on your hands. He straightens up, looking pleased with his work. He hasn’t dropped your hands, and you think that maybe you are okay with that.
Suddenly, James is at the entrance of the kitchen. “We are going to start a bonfire out back! Bring the drinks out when your done with
whatever you’re doing.” Before either of you can answer he’s left, presumably to the back yard with the rest of the group. Your hands have been dropped, and Sirius clears his throat.
“So, all better?” He smiles.
“Yes. Healthy as a horse.” You croak.
“Good. Now... do you want a single or a double?” He smirks mischievously, holding up a handle of liquor. You’ll need all you can get if he keeps looking at that, so you hold up a peace sign. He nods appreciatively.
Soon after you are carrying a small tray of drinks out into the back yard, Sirius close behind with the rest. Their yard is charming and bigger than you remember, fairy lights strung overhead and a gas firepit in the center. Surrounding it are two half circle outdoor couches, filled by your friends. The sun has almost completely set now, the sky a pretty mix of dark red and orange.
You make it over to them, handing drinks out before taking your own seat next to Lily and James. The fire keeps you safe from the nighttime chill in the air, as does the boy who sits right next to you. He takes and stacks the tray you still have in your hand with his own and sets them to the side as you take a sip of your fruity drink. They put the right person in charge of mixing tonight, as you can barely taste any alcohol. Magic.
“So, Y/N. What have you been up to?” Dorcus asks you directly from across the fire. “We haven’t seen you in ages.”
Shit. “Oh, you know. Working, sleeping, eating.” You say, “I did just get a new record the other day, The Cure.” You grasp for something clever and exciting to say but fall short.
“I love The Cure!” Marlene exclaims from Dorcus’ side, grinning.
“Don’t they have that days of the week song?” Mary asks. She starts humming something close to how the song sounds.
“Friday I’m in Love!” James shouts, raising up a fist.
“Wait, you aren’t in love with me every day?” Lily gasps.
He balks, “Darling, light of my life, I will love you every day until I die.” They kiss, and it is so sweet it might make you sick.
It must show on your face, because Sirius starts booing beside you, “Get a room!”
“Oi, you’re just jealous you aren’t the one snogging me, Pads.” James says after he pulls away.
“That’s hardly snogging. You should see Sirius on tequila. He went straight up dementor on a poor girl two weekends ago.” Remus chimes in.
“Oh please, tequila makes everyone slutty! You remember your birthday last year, do you not?” He defends and accuses.
“What are you drinking now?” You ask curiously.
He goes still, smirking down at you. “Wouldn’t you like to know, sweetheart.”
Before he can see how red your face gets, a pebble hits him right in the temple, bouncing off near the fire. “Boo! Not you two as well.” Peter complains.
Before you can say something along the lines of Not it’s not like that! Sirius is firing back. “You’d do the same if it meant having an endless supply of baked goods for the rest of your life.”
Peter thinks on this for a second. “You’re right. Y/N, would you like to get married?”
Laughter erupts around you, but your face is still hot from the attention. Or the fire. Probably both if you’re being honest. You’d think they only liked you for your sweets, but you would be delusional if you did. You may not be the biggest fan of socializing, but something about tonight is filling a hole in your chest you weren’t aware you had. You feel like you belong. Maybe you should stop rejecting their invitations.
Conversation flows, you doing more listening than talking, and soon enough you are sipping the rest of your drink as the ice slides down the cup and wets your nose. You quickly wipe the dampness away with your jacket sleeve. James notices and is already on it, gesturing for you to hand him your empty cup.
“Someone’s thirsty. Any more refreshments anyone?” He asks, getting a resounding yes from the crowd, “Lilykins, Remus, help me, will you? We’ll set up cornhole after, because if muggles got one thing right it’s their drinking games!”
“I’ll help too. And grab some of the snacks from inside.” Peter says, following after them.
The rest of the girls get up too, Marlene mentioning something about a smoke, Mary about the loo, and soon it’s just you and Sirius by the fire. It’s unusually quiet, the light crackling of the fire suddenly audible. It’s strange, Sirius being so quiet. You reckon something might be on his mind. Or, alternatively, he is more attuned to his surroundings than he acts and has noticed how partial you are to the quiet. If the second, you should be grateful, if only you didn’t like his voice so much. Oh my, do you fancy Sirius Black?
Not having anything to say, you keep your hands busy, reaching into your pocket to find the pack of gum you stuck in before you left. You pull out a piece for yourself and slide it back into your pocket, then unwrap your piece and put it in your mouth. All the while, you are being watched closely by the boy next to you. You look up at him.
“Sorry, I’ve forgot my manners. Would you like a piece?” you ask him, face flushing once again.
“Yes, please.” He replies sweetly. When you start to reach into your pocket, he speaks again, “No, no. I want that one.” As he points to
 your mouth?
“What?” You ask a bit too loud.
“You heard me, doll.” If flirting was an Olympic sport this man would have a gold medal. Holy shit.
“Uhmmm
” You draw out, fighting an internal war with yourself over whether or not you want to entertain his request. The double you drank earlier is making you lean towards yes.
He seems to recognize your panic and is about to say something entirely too sweet and understanding, but you beat him to it. “Okay.”
“Okay?” he says, a bit caught off guard, shaking his head enough so his long hair falls in front of his face.
“You can have it.” You decide aloud.
He’s looking at you with intense, grey eyes, a small smile gracing his lips as he looks down at your own. Quickly, he’s sliding a hand through his jet-black hair, and then he’s then leaning in slow, almost staccato, eyeing your face for any signs of discomfort. There seems to be none as his nose brushes against yours.
Eyes still open, you are now looking back and forth between the two of his, waiting for his next move. Suddenly you remember yourself and the means for this proximity, so you push your chewing gum to the front of your mouth and hold it between your teeth. You can’t so much see his smile, but you feel the burst of air on your lips as he laughs quietly, entertained by you.
Finally moving again, he crowds your space and places his hand on the side of your neck. He tilts to the side and your lips gently, so gently, touch. A whisper of a kiss. His tongue grazes your bottom lip for less than a second before he’s using his teeth to take the gum from between your own. Soon after, he’s leaning out of your space and back into his, chewing the gum around the biggest smile you’ve seen out of him tonight. You feel like you’ve been zapped by lightning, nerves aflame.
Not being able to contain yourself, you let out a loud laugh, followed by another, smaller giggle. And Sirius, he eats it up. He joins in on your giddiness, bumping his shoulder against yours playfully.
The moment is cut short when you hear a loud crash inside, followed by a shouting Lily.
Sirius frowns, looking over your shoulder. “I’ve told Prongs that magic and drinking do not mix, but he refuses to listen.”
James is opening the back door, and you notice his hair seems a bit singed at the ends. "They don't call it fire whisky for no reason!" he shouts, giggling before he's being pulled back inside by an annoyed Lily.
"He needs one of those leashes parents put on their children in grocery stores." You suggest.
Sirius chuckles, "Yes, quite right. Or a hazmat suit."
You both sit for a moment longer in the quiet, but not long before he's standing up. He extends a hand out to you, and you'd say he looked bashful if you didn't know him so well. Sirius doesn't get bashful.
You grab his hand, letting him help you up, and he only let's go of it as you both step inside. You miss the warmth immediately.
✩ ✩
After another few more rounds of drinks and a full-contact game of cornhole, Peter sits in the couch with a bag of frozen peas on his head and a concerned Mary tending to him. He’d fallen victim to James’ ruthful competitiveness. You had opted out of playing, having sat with the girls and Remus on the side while Peter, James, Sirius, and Dorcus threw beanbags more times at each other than they did at the boards. You quite liked watching them play, like a child likes to go to the zoo.
After one too many yawns, you’ve decided to depart for the night. Lily offered a spare room for you, but you are sure that it will be needed by others more than you. You hadn’t had too many, wanting to stay somewhat coherent in case a certain someone tried to get his lips on yours again.
Sirius has been keeping a respectful distance from you for the rest of the night without ignoring you. Light conversation or flirting here and there, but you’d say he was acting a bit
flustered around you after the gum incident. For reasons you couldn’t even start to understand. But, you do enjoy watching him from a far in his own element. Much in the way that you have watched him seduce other men and women alike at parties for well, the entire time you’ve known him. He is so confident it makes you wish you were too. Wish he would teach you his ways.
"Bye everyone, I had a great time." You say quietly to the room, a third of the party asleep on the couch. Lily stands for a hug, squishing her cheek against yours.
"Let's get lunch this week. I miss your cute face." She slurs happily, pinching your cheek.
"Yes, let's." You agree, patting her arm.
You wave goodbye to the rest, grabbing your purse and turning towards the door. Standing nearby is Sirius, holding your tote containing the empty biscuit containers.
"Can I walk you home?" He asks quietly, matching your tone.
You falter, not expecting it. "Uh, yeah. Sure. As long as you carry that for me." You gesture to the bag.
"Of course. Can't be having you hurting your pretty arms." He flirts, and oh boy are you elated from it.
He says his own quick goodbyes before he's getting the door for you. He follows you out and closes it behind him, meeting you at the bottom of the steps.
"Did you drive your motorbike here?" You ask, louder now that you are out of the house.
"No. She needs some work done, so I apparated. Your place is on the way though so... no worries." He explains as the two of you start your walk.
It's fairly quiet as you walk side by side, hands swinging beside each other's in the space between. It's fully nighttime now, the stars almost brighter than the old streetlamps. Toads and crickets can be heard in the distance. It's nice, peaceful, but you almost wish that he would...
You're thought ends abruptly as he laces his fingers with yours. He does it so smoothly you wonder if he had ever let go. You smile to yourself and assume he is doing the same as you continue your walk in comfortable silence.
Once you've reached your front door, the silence ends.
"I hope you enjoyed yourself tonight. I would hate to tell the lot that you never want to see them again." He jokes.
"Oh, I enjoyed myself just fine. No need to break their hearts." You reply.
"Good. You would be missed dearly, sweetheart." He states sincerely.
"And my treats." you smile.
"Yeah, and your treats I suppose." He shrugs, smiling back at you.
Before you think of a clever goodbye, he's taking one step closer to you. "Would you... like your gum back?" He asks, an inch away from being unsure. Nervous, almost.
You, being too jacked up on his kind words and pretty face, nod before you can think twice about it. His confidence comes back full force as he reaches for your face, closing the distance between you two much quicker than the last time.
This time, it's a proper kiss. Lips slotted together, tongues brushing ever so slightly. His palms hold your face to his like you're something special, and you'd believe him if he told you just that. The kiss deepens, a soft noise coming from the back of your throat as you are pushed against the front of your door. He makes a sound in return you'll be thinking about for days. He breaks apart all too soon, sealing it with a firm peck to your lips, then one to your forehead. Both of you pant, wide smiles mirroring on your faces.
"I spit the gum out a while ago when it lost it's flavor. That was just an excuse to kiss you." He says like it wasn't the most obvious thing in the world. Luckily, it wasn't to you.
"I'm glad, but you never need an excuse. Not with me." You say bravely.
The face he gives you is confusing, like he wants to kiss you again but also might get down on one knee. You might be okay with either.
He shakes his head, smiling more to himself this time. You yawn, not easily concealed by your sleeve at your face. He notices. "Alright. Well. I'll get out of your hair. You need your beauty sleep." He falters, "Not that you could get any prettier than you already are. Or- er. Maybe you could, but it might kill me." You could get used to this, Sirius being the same level of flustered as you are. It's cute.
"Goodnight, Sirius." You whisper.
"Goodnight, doll." He whispers back.
You close your door and lean up against it, covering your girlish giggle with a hand and a shake of your head.
Oh my, you do fancy Sirius Black.

The Other Side -
Marauders x Reader
Tumblr media
1.8k words
Summary: You were Voldemort’s loyal soldier. You were born into this life, never having known any different. What happens when the Marauders show you that you can break free to to the other side?
—This was inspired by the song from The Greatest Showman obvsss (I actually love that movie so much omg)
Part 2 is already out!! I hope you enjoyđŸ«¶đŸ«¶
———————————————————————
From a young age, your parents had made sure you would stay absolutely loyal to them. They were suffocatingly strict and controlled every aspect of your life. Friends had to be approved by them, boyfriends were hand-picked, and of course, your beliefs came solely from them. They were completely and totally loyal to Voldemort, believing he would make them powerful once he won the wizarding war.
That’s why your parents offered you to Voldemort. You were your parents’ token of loyalty. Because of this, you grew to be one of Voldemort’s closest inner circle members.
But recently, something was starting to feel off. The stronger the connection you had to Voldemort and other death eaters, the more you started to secretly resent the life you lived. This feeling was new to you. For 18 years, you had no qualms about the life you lived. You treated yourself as a soldier for the dark lord; you were his hands. But this foreign feeling of doubt was growing harder and harder to ignore.
As you got ready for a death eater’s meeting, you couldn’t help but feel a giddy nervousness. You had received word from your parents that Voldemort himself would be sending you on a highly important mission. It sent a slight shiver of excitement down your spine. Being chosen out of anyone else always felt good, regardless of the uncertainty you were starting to feel about your own life.
You made your way down the stairs of your childhood home, and into the dining room where most of the death eaters were already gathered. You took shaky steps to your seat in between Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape. You weren’t particularly close with either man, but knew them both relatively well.
The meeting started as Voldemort stood, carefully eyeing every member in the room. He held an air of superiority that could have only come from the total loyalty practically oozing out of the people sitting around you. His eyes stopped on you, narrowing slightly. Your breath caught for just a moment, before a small grin grew on his face.
“Y/n,” Voldemort said slowly, as if committing a name he’d known for 18 years fully into his memory. You sat up straighter, and made tentative eye contact with him. “Yes my lord?” You managed to speak without your voice shaking, which you were grateful for.
“As you may have heard, I have a mission especially designed for you. The Order has been
quite a pest recently. They are one problem that I could quite easily live without. I want you to stake out a particular group of The Order- I’m sure you know of them. The marauders I believe they’ve coined themselves?”
The tension in the room was palpable. Peter Pettigrew looked down at his lap, fidgeting with his fingers. You knew that he had once been close with the other marauders, been one of them.
Severus also looked mildly uncomfortable. He had been holding a vendetta against the marauders for as long as you could remember.
Voldemort continued, “You will learn the marauders’ schedules. You will learn where they eat, drink, sleep, you name it. We will use this information to plan an attack and get rid of them.”
Your blood ran cold. Kill the marauders? You had known James, Sirius, and Remus back at Hogwarts. They were pranksters, but never a particularly bad group of people. You had even admired them from afar on a few occasions. None of them were exactly hard on the eyes

But that didn’t matter. You were just tasked with murdering them. That thought made a sort of panic claw its way through you. The air was starting to feel suffocating, and you knew you needed to leave. You were practically zoned out for the rest of the meeting, and quickly left the table once it was appropriate to do so. You ran up to your room after assuring you had made it out of anyone’s eyesight. Taking a quick breath, you apparated to a muggle bar you had found on a previous mission. It was a dark and run down place. It certainly wouldn’t have been your first choice, but you knew that no other death eaters would find themself there. As you walked in, you were greeted by the bartender and sat down quietly.
“Whiskey on the rocks.”
He nodded and got to making your drink. A few seconds later, you heard the drink being set down, you grabbed it and turned in your seat as you thanked him.
Looking around the bar, you could see only a handful of patrons. An older couple sat in one of the nearby booths, adorned with leather cushions that had certainly seen better days. Another group was made up of men in their early 20s, around your age. They sat at a dark wood table that matched the sticky floors. You couldn’t fully make out their features, as it was pretty dark inside of the bar.
You continued to watch the small amount of customers present, but found yourself particularly interested in the group of men. The way they joked and shoved each other stirred something inside of you. A small part of you had wanted a group of friends like that, people that you felt truly comfortable with. You pushed away the thought quickly. It was no use pining for something you’d never have.
Turning back around, you took a long sip of your drink. It left a pleasant burning feeling down your throat, something to distract you from the awful mission you were being sent on. A deep voice came from across the bar. It looked as though one of the men you had been watching earlier was ordering another round for his group. You took the opportunity to get a better look at his features. You squinted slightly, then let out a quiet gasp: the long and shaggy black hair, leather jacket, band tee, and pale but perfect skin could only belong to one person.
You swerved to look at the rest of his group. It now became apparent that there was a tall boy with shaggy brown hair, and another with curly black hair and glasses. Shit. The fucking marauders were at the same bar as you. What if they decided to avada kedavra you right here? All they’d need to do is obliviate the muggles once they were done. The Order would probably throw them a party for doing so.
You hunched in your seat to appear smaller and waited until Sirius walked back to his table. Then, you left money on the bar and started to walk out. You could’ve sworn you heard your name being called faintly. That made your heart speed up. No. No. No. Your pace picked up, you needed to find a secluded area to apparate back to your home.
Hurried footsteps could be heard behind you, getting louder and louder. Shit. You really didn’t want to die today. You glanced nervously over your shoulder, only to be met with a determined looking James Potter. He always was the most athletic out of his friends, and he had no problem keeping up with you. Your saving grace came in the form of an alley across the street. Without wasting time by checking if cars were approaching, you sprinted across the street. Horns sounded behind you, but you paid them no mind.
The alley welcomed you into its steadying darkness as you spotted a large dumpster to hide behind. You took your wand out with shaky hands. You had let yourself breath a quick sigh of relief, before multiple pairs of footsteps sounded uncomfortably close to you, startling you so much that you dropped your wand. You searched the ground desperately, but the darkness of the alley and your frantic movements made the task impossible.
Right as you felt the cool wood of your wand, a large hand roughly grabbed your shoulder. You let out a shriek, causing another hand to cover your mouth. You continued to thrash and scream, but physical fighting had never been your strength- wand magic was what you relied on. Eventually, you decided to go limp. The grip on you loosened slightly, giving you the opportunity to spring away and turn to face the marauders. James stood slightly in front of them, signaling that he had been the one to grab you.
“Leave me the fuck alone and maybe the dark lord will spare you.” you spat, deciding that going on the defensive and making threats you weren’t so sure were believable was your best course of action.
Remus stepped forward slowly while putting his hands up as a peace offering,“Woah, we’re not looking for trouble.”
You scoffed, “Yeah? Just out for a friendly chat then I suppose.”
Remus sighed, “It’s Y/n, right?” You gave a reluctant nod. “Look, to be honest, we could have already killed you. You’re a known death eater.”
That one statement created a flash of panic in you. You went to reach for your wand before James stepped closer to you. Remus quickly stepped in again, “But we didn’t kill you, in fact, we haven’t hurt you at all. So, if you want to stay unhurt, why don’t you hand your wand over to James here?”
Your breathing became heavier. Giving up your wand would leave you completely and totally vulnerable. You wanted to refuse, but Sirius had at some point taken out his own wand and pointed it at you.
“I would listen to him, love. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but you’re a bit outnumbered here.”
Sirius’ words did little to stir anything in you. It was then that you decided you didn’t care what the point of the marauders stopping you was. It couldn’t be anything good for you. Therefore, you would fight your way out or die trying. You swiftly drew your wand and muttered, “Incendio.”
The space between you and the marauders was now covered by flames. This was the only way you could escape. You turned and ran down the alley as fast as you could. Muttered curses could be heard behind you, and a swift water charm put out the fire you had created. Seconds later, you heard Sirius yell, “Immobulus!”
All of your limbs seized suddenly, and you fell harshly to the floor of the alley. You felt a strong sense of embarrassment as the three men came closer, which was quickly overridden by fear. James crouched down next to you with an almost pitying look on his face. “Sorry about this,” you almost questioned what he was doing, before he held up a glass with a familiar dark purple potion: sleeping drought. He brought the bottle to your lips and pinched your nose closed. You glared at him, cursing all three of them in your mind. You wanted to scream, claw at him, fight back. But you were immobilized and running out of air. You mustered all of the wrath you could into a single look before gasping in a breath and consequently drinking the potion. You could have sworn you saw an almost sad look cross James’ face before the darkness consumed you.

hello mae! I had a request I’d like to give you. I was wondering if you could write a poly!marauders x reader where reader has never slept beside anybody before bc intimacy isn’t something she’s used to therefore she’s not used to being that close to anybody. everytime she shifts she’s afraid to wake up the boys, or she just doesn’t know what to do.
I know you have “first night with marauders” so if this is too similar I totally get it. đŸ–€
Hello sweetheart, thank you for your request!
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 990 words
You’re terrible at this.
Each of the boys is sound asleep. Sirius has his leg hooked over yours and one of his arms tossed over James’ chest, Remus’ hand has to be halfway numb underneath your pillow, and James is snoring softly on the far side of the bed from you. They’re all so obviously comfortable, practiced in resting like this, whereas you started to get stiff a half hour ago and you’ve been unable to make yourself relax since.
Every movement takes a year, you’re trying so hard not to wake them. You feel like the girl in a movie who’s trying to sneak out of the bed of a one-night stand, all taut muscles and bated breath, except you only want to roll over. Slow, microscopic movements have to be the key.
Your back crackles softly when you shift your weight onto your other hip, and a sigh escapes you before you can stop it.
A low, croaky hum comes from just in front of your face. Your brain is a tempest of expletives.
“Hey.” You can nearly feel the gravel of Remus’ voice buzzing against your lips. “You’re up.”
Muddled with sleep, you can’t tell if his tone is reprimanding or simply observational. “Sorry,” you whisper regardless.
“Wha’ for?” Movement under the pillow beneath your head, and then a long-fingered hand is nestling beneath your cheek. His scars and calluses slide familiarly over your skin. “Can’t sleep?”
Nope, and now it’s two of you. Guilt grows vines around your ribcage. Remus sounds more awake by the second.
“I’ll be okay.” You press a soft kiss to the corner of his lips, hoping to mollify him. “Go back to sleep.”
Your boyfriend makes a half-aware disgruntled sound. “No, not without you.”
As exhausted as you are, you have to bite down on a smile. When he’s uninhibited like this, Remus really is quite the flirt, all his dorky, sweet thoughts coming out before he can remember to stop them. He’s nearly as bad as James.
You think he must see a hint of your smile in the dark, because Remus’ own lips tilt upwards. He leans closer to kiss the cool skin of your cheek, the only cold part of you thanks to a heavy duvet and the body heat of three lovely boyfriends. A kiss for a kiss.
He leaves his lips there as he murmurs, “What’s wrong, dove?”
Well, funny he should ask. What’s wrong now is the slight tickle of his stubble against your cheek, the hoarse quality to his voice in your ear. His breath warms your cold skin, and he slides a hand across the space between you to rest on your hip, layered in between the sheets and your pajama bottoms.
But you know that’s not what he’s asking.
“I can’t get very comfortable,” you confess, speaking so softly he wouldn’t be able to make it out if his ear weren’t two inches from your lips, “and I didn’t want to wake anyone up.”
Remus hums, as though this is a prognosis he’d already reached and was merely waiting for you to confirm. You can hear Sirius’ voice as clearly as if he were awake: know it all.
“They can sleep through anything,” he says. “One time the fire alarm went off, and James didn’t even stir. Don’t worry about them.” You must be emanating guilt, because he strokes his thumb over your hip pacifyingly. “And I don’t mind being woken up. I’m in and out of sleep all night anyway, it’s not hard for me to get back. You’re not used to sleeping with so many people, yeah?”
Your face warms at his phrasing, though of course you know what he means. “Or with anyone,” you murmur.
“Mm. I think I know what you need.”
You don’t realize Remus’ plan until he’s already sat up. He reaches over you, rubbing James’ shoulder gently while you protest vehemently through whispers.
James wakes with a yawn, taking Remus’ hand automatically and bringing it close to his face. “Wha’s’it?”
“Take her,” Remus requests drowsily. With his other hand, he nudges you forward.
James starts to blink his eyes open, and you see no way out. You start climbing over Sirius as delicately as you can. “Sorry,” you whisper, to him, to them, to the room in general.
Remus helps you out by tugging Sirius into your place. The other boy whines but settles quickly, rolling over to sling his leg over Remus’ instead.
James welcomes you as heartily as his sleep-addled state will allow, adjusting the covers over you and smudging a few toothpaste-scented kisses onto your face.
“Y’can’t sleep?” he asks.
You shake your head. “Sorry.”
He makes a soft dismissive sound. “C’mere, angel.”
You refrain from telling him that you’re already here as his arms find their way around you, soft and firm in all the right places and deliciously warm. He starts to make slow, sweeping circles onto your back with his hand.
“Jamie,” you murmur, grateful but embarrassed, “don’t stay up for me. Go to sleep.”
“M’basically there,” he replies. “You first, yeah?”
You can hear Remus’ breathing evening out behind you, syncing with Sirius’, and you’re suddenly sure that this is part of a routine he and the boys shared before you ever met them. That’s how he knew to hand you off to James, and how James knew exactly what to do. Something about that comforts you. And far be it for you to mess with tradition.
You shuffle closer to James under the covers. He obliges you happily, adjusting his grip so he’s holding you more securely, with your leg resting against his and your forehead an inch from his nose. The shushing of his heavy palm on the material of your pajama top is the only sound in the world.
You hear his breathing starting to deepen again, but James is right; you beat him there.

Close To Me
Pairing: Bodyguard! Marauders x Fem! Reader, Bodyguard! Sirius x Fem! Reader AU: Bodyguard AU / Muggle AU CW: Reader getting kidnapped. Sirius getting injured. Note: This might be the longest one shot I have written so far, this is also my first time writing an action-ish fic? So please do keep it in mind, some parts may be inaccurate.. I also published this at 12 midnight lol. Enjoy!(2.5k words)
Tumblr media
You always thought it was a tad bit excessive.
Being the sole heir to a vast family fortune meant that you had the finest thing you could ever want in your life; it also meant that you had the finest protection. Your father handpicked every staff member that was assigned to protect and care for you- going as far as doing not just a background check on them, but also their entire family. Doing a bunch of psychology and loyalty tests were also a must so it was rest assured that they would do their job.
Having one bodyguard? Understandable. Two? Oh, alright just some precautions. Three? That sounds... very safe. Four? Now, that's where you draw the line.
Sure, being born with a golden spoon is great- wonderful, even; but you felt like you were trapped.
You wanted to live life like any other normal human being, away from assassination or kidnapping attempts that were made in your life. So, mustering up every courage you have, you stormed into your father’s study to try and persuade him to just at least assign one to watch over you.
It was expected, you failed.
Now you were stuck with four goofballs bodyguards who would protect you with their life.
James Potter- the strategist. He could sense danger from miles away and best believe that a safe escape plan for you was already formulated if ever things went south.
Remus Lupin- the mediator. He has the ability to appear calm and composed even in the face of danger. Remus saved you more than once just from his voice and words.
Peter Pettigrew- the tech wizard. He’s the one responsible for surveillance, turning any kind of technology into a means of protecting you.
And then there was Sirius Black, the jack of all trades. When your father chose the top candidate, it was him. He was an exceptionally skilled fighter, good with weapons, fast and light reflexes, can speak multiple languages (mainly French), and over all just a well-rounded protector.
Being born into a family with a long tradition and a reputation for producing some of the best security experts in the muggle world, Sirius stood out like a sore thumb. He was the black sheep who defied family expectations. His family's company, BlackGuard Security, was known for its merciless efficiency and rigid standards.
His abilities were evident. Succeeded in every training program he participated in, frequently outperforming his peers with fast thinking and adaptability. Your father noticed Sirius's unconventional approach to security and saw potential in his abilities. When he was assigned to be your bodyguard, he took it as an opportunity to show himself beyond the shadow of his family's legacy.
Sirius is your shadow. He’s never more than a few paces behind. But it wasn’t just duty that kept him so close; it’s the quiet and unspoken bond that had formed between you two throughout the years. A bond that went beyond the call of duty, beyond the formalities. Which he desperately tries to deny.
“Good morning, Remmy!”
You beamed, smiling as you opened the door of your bedroom to see the tall man standing outside, on watch.
It’s still a mystery to you how he looks so put together with his neat hair, suit, and the signature earpiece in his ear even though it’s still 7:00 in the morning.
“Good morning, Miss.” He smiles, closing the door behind you as you headed towards the grand staircase, Remus following a step behind.
“I rarely see you during mornings,” You comment, going down the stairs to grab breakfast.
“James had some matters to attend to, Miss.” He answered, offering a small and polite smile. You hummed, “It’s alright. I like your company, Remmy. Jamie can get a tad bit enthusiastic in mornings.” You laugh, as Remus looks at you.
“Don’t let him hear that or he might just throw a fit.” He chuckled.
“He’s James, it’s normal.” You grinned, seeing the familiar long black-haired guy talking quietly in his earpiece.
“Morning, Sirius!” You waved at him; his piercing grey eyes looked in your direction. “Good morning, Y/n.” he smiled, then went back to talking in his earpiece.
You would be lying if you said you weren’t a bit bummed that you don’t have his undivided attention, Remus noticed this and raised his eyebrow, smiling to himself.
Taking a seat at the rather large dining table, you couldn't help but sigh. Remus decided to tease you a bit, "Were you expecting more from Padfoot?" He smiles, chuckling at the way you desperately try to hide the blush on your cheeks.
"What?! No! I was just pre-occupied with other things!"
Remus doesn't believe it when your eyes wandered in the direction of Sirius who was still talking into the earpiece. "No prongs, she has an event she needs to attend in the evening." You heard him talking to what you can assume is James from the other line.
The scent of breakfast wafted through the air, making your stomach growl as the staff placed the dishes and arranged the silverware for you.
"Would you like some, Remmy?"
"No thank you, miss. I already ate."
As you ate a piece of your breakfast, you looked up to Remus. "Anything interesting stuff for today?"
"I'm afraid today will be quite normal, miss. Just a charity ball your family would attend hosted by the Malfoy family."
You frowned. It's not like you hate the Malfoys, you just don't like how they're trying to set you up with their son, Lucius Malfoy, when it was clear that he is infatuated with his mother's bodyguard- Narcissa Black.
"Do I really have to go?" You complained,
"Prongs already picked up your dress for later, Y/n." Sirius suddenly spoke up, and standing beside Remus. You huffed, already feeling tired.
“Maybe I’ll just sneak out again-“
“No can do, Y/n!” James appeared out of nowhere, his famous grin plastered on his face, Peter trailing behind him, tinkering with what seems to be a mini remote of some sort.
You crossed your arms, eyebrows raised. “And why would that be, Mr. Potter?”
“Because your escort would be Malfoy.” he grumbles, clearly not liking the idea and the dude.
“I beg your pardon?”
You tried not to roll your eyes, keyword, tried. Remus clears his throat, trying to mask his surprise. Sirius felt his eye twitch.
What if something happens at the ball? Sirius is the most capable one of protecting you from danger, sorrynotsorry.
“But!” James blurts, “We’d still attend the ball, not just that close to you.”
“Like that’s any better.”
James frowns, “Sorry. The Malfoys actually don’t even want us to attend and guard you. Your father insisted, telling them you won’t attend the ball without us.” He says, taking a seat beside you despite Remus’ warning glances directed at him.
“Just what do they want
?” Sirius mumbles to himself, already getting highly suspicious of Lucius and his family. (Not because of the fact that you’re about to get arranged to the Malfoy heir, no not at all.)
“They’re probably just annoyed, Lucius really can’t make a move on Y/n with us around.” James said, grabbing a handful of grapes and popping them onto his mouth, making you chuckle as you pushed the bowl closer to him.
“Alright, looking good Y/n!” James grinned, seeing you come down the grand staircase dressed in a red lavish gown with a gold accent.
Sirius felt his heart stop.
There was just something about you that makes his heart beat a little faster, time freezing, and the unusual flips his stomach did when he sees you.
Fuck— you were absolutely breathtaking.
You twirled, making your boys smile and compliment you, but Sirius just stood there, not reacting.
“Do I look presentable, Siri?”
You asked, trying to pass it off as a joke but they know damn well you were serious as you fiddled with a random lace in your dress. Not like Sirius noticed it, no, he was transfixed to your beauty.
“Beautiful.”
That was all you needed to hear.
“Mr. Malfoy, good evening.”
Lucius smiled slightly, taking your hand, and kissing it. “The night could not compare to your beauty, Y/n.”
It took every single fiber of Sirius’ being to not punch Lucius square in the face. How dare he flirt with you when he’s secretly dating his cousin?
You smiled politely, even though all you wanted to do is to stay a good couple of feet away from him. “You flatter me, Mr. Malfoy.”
“I am just stating facts, Y/n.” He offered his arm to you, “Shall we?”
Right. Might as well get over it.
Linking your arm with his, you nodded. “We shall.”
The boys instantly knew there was something off as soon as they stepped inside the venue.
James kept twisting the ring on his pinky finger, already thinking of numerous escape plans for different situations. Peter was on his phone, eyebrows furrowing as he checked and tries to figure out why he can't access some surveillance cameras in the venue. Sirius was on high alert, nothing could go unnoticed, he knows who approached you, how long you've spoken to them, the food that you consumed, and how that stupid Lucius kissed your hand, and interacted with you.
Remus also was alert, but one thing that made the alarms go off inside his head was the four suspicious men dressed in tuxedos quietly slipped inside the venue without getting noticed.
"Marauders, two o'clock. Four men, nearing darling's area quick." He told in the comms, eyes never leaving the four figures.
"Copy, Moony. Wormtail, any news?" Remus' earpiece was filled with James' voice. "Negative. Still trying to access." Out of the corner of his eye, Remus can see Sirius slowly inching to your direction. "Padfoot, do not engage. Wait it out." Remus heard James order Sirius, "I won't." he grunts.
That was when hell broke loose.
With lightning reflexes, one of the men pulled out a pistol and shot the large crystal chandelier causing it to fall and crash to the ground, breaking into thousands of tiny pieces. It was pure chaos, people were trying to rush out of the exits, chairs and tables were turned as they pushed through.
Sirius felt his blood run cold.
He was in autopilot, he dodged a panicked guest and leaped over fallen chairs, all while keeping his eyes on you. He cannot afford for the men to reach you before he does.
Luck was not on his side today.
He quickly closed the distance between both of you. He was your protector; he swore on his life he would protect you. Sirius would even sacrifice his life if it meant that you would be safe. He would do anything for you.
It was proven it wasn't enough when one of the men grabbed your arm, dragging you towards a hidden exit while Lucius Malfoy was escorted by the others.
"Fuck!" He yelled, as one of Malfoy's henchmen shot him in the shoulder to prevent him from going after you.
"Prongs! They have her!" They could all hear his anguished voice through the comms. Remus runs over to Sirius from where he was stationed, "Padfoot, you're injured-"
"I don't care!" He yells at his friend, "We need to fucking find her!"
"Wormtail, you better have the damn access already or I'll skin you alive!" Sirius barks angrily, talking to his comms as he fought the rest of the men with Remus helping him. "I'm in, but it's too late. They jammed the signals earlier and destroyed footages. Go to the exit, you'll see a motorbike on your left-" Sirius doesn't need to be told twice, he did what Peter told him and mounted the motorcycle, Remus quickly joining him.
"Can you see the black car ahead of you? That's them." Peter told him. Sirius was focusing on chasing the damn vehicle, so Remus answered on his behalf.
"Yeah, we're closing in. Prongs, what's your status?"
"Backsup are on their way, they'll be right behind you in 2 minutes."
Sirius felt the distant throb in his shoulder, the warm blood seeping through made his dress shirt clung onto him, but he paid it no mind.
"Keep your eyes on the road, Padfoot!" Remus reminds him as they narrowly missed an incoming truck. Sirius only nodded in reply as he grips the motorcycle tightly, weaving through the traffic and desperately trying to reach the speedy vehicle you're in.
"We're gaining on them!" Remus updates, seeing the familiar back up vehicles approaching, "Back up's near."
"Do not engage until the back ups arrive." James told them in a calm and commanding tone.
Of course.
Sirius will always be Sirius. When had he ever listened to Prongs' orders?
He is driven by his instinct, which is currently screaming at him to attack right then and there. As they neared an intersection, an opportunity was presented to him. He would be a fucking idiot to ignore it. With a calculated risk, he accelerated, effectively pulling alongside the car.
Remus sighs, already knowing his friend's thoughts and getting ready.
"Now, Moony!" Remus, who's on cue, leaned out and desperately tried to reach the car's door handle, and with a few tries, he managed to open it succesfully making him grapple with a man inside.
The car swerves, tires screeching but Sirius kept his pace. He can see you struggling with your captors, and he can hear the backup seconds away. He couldn't wait, every second counts, anything could happen.
"Hang on!" Sirius shouts, with a burst of speed, the backup cars sandwiched the car with you inside, forcing it to halt. Sirius and Remus dismounted the motorbike, guns drawn.
"It's either you release her, or I'll kill all of you and blondie." He growls, referring to Lucius Malfoy who is also inside the car.
The situation was tense, but the arrival of their team shifted the balance. The henchmen, overwhelmed and outgunned, let you go, their plan thwarted. Keeping the Malfoy Heir safe is their top priority.
Dust settled down, and the other staff handled the situation, wrapping it up. Sirius stormy grey eyes met yours in the midst of chaos. His shoulder stung, a reminder of the events that had happened tonight, although it paled in comparison to the concern etched in his face as he rushes to you.
"You're not hurt, are you?" His voice was barely above a whisper as he scanned your form. Your eyes found its way on his injury, "No, I'm alright. But Sirius, you're hurt."
Sirius exhaled a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, and the world seems to slow down. "I'll live, darling. The important thing is that you're safe."
The sirens, flashing lights, and the buzz all seemed to fade out into the background as you stared into his eyes. Taking your hand in his, he placed it to his lips, pressing a kiss, his gaze never leaving yours.
"I was so afraid I'd lose you," he admitted, the vulnerability in his voice unlike anything you'd heard before. Sirius hugged you tightly, feeling him press a kiss against your hair as you leaned to his chest, listening to the steady thump of his heart.
"You'll never lose me. Never in a million years, how could you when you're always close to me?"

Everything’s Alright-
Roommate! Marauders x Reader
Tumblr media
-This can be read as romantic or platonic, but James does refer to them as roommates-
Short Description: Reader gets home from work and needs a little break. Luckily, she’s got three guys who are up to the job.
~700 words
‱
You walk into your flat, greeted by the smell of something burning in the kitchen. You can hear the panicked voices of James and Sirius as they blame one another for the aforementioned cooking fiasco. Normally, you would walk into the kitchen and help them sort out the mess, but it just sounded like way too much work at the moment.
Instead, you walked over to the living room and face planted directly into the couch. Your shoes made your feet ache, but you just couldn’t find it in yourself to take them off. You decided then that you would stay in this very spot for the entire night, maybe the entire week. The couch was all too enticing as you drifted into a sort of half sleep.
You could hear Remus’s panicked voice as he emerged from his bedroom. Then you heard him start scolding the two other boys for their failed attempt at dinner. It barely registered to you when he sent them into the living room, until you heard James’s horrific attempt at a whisper, “When did Y/n get home? I didn’t even hear them come in,”
You could almost hear the eye roll Sirius gave in return, “Well seeing that I was with you for the past three hours, I don’t know,” It was at this point that you realized you could just tell the two that you had in fact gotten home about five minutes ago, but you just didn’t feel like it. The couch shifted slightly, and you felt as James lifted your legs and put them in his lap. He gently removed you shoes and rubbed your calf. He whispered only slightly quieter than before, “Y/nnn,” he dragged out the last syllable of your name, “time to wake up! I bet Remus is cooking up something good.”
You rolled over lazily, peering at James next to you, and Sirius who stood above you with a grin. “I’ll eat later, can we just hang out on the couch for a bit?” You gave the boys a pleading look that you knew they wouldn’t say no to. You were right, and it didn’t take long for Sirius to call out for Remus so that he could join in what James dubbed, ‘The first ever official splendiferous roomie movie night.’ No one else had agreed to the name, but that didn’t stop him.
As Remus entered the room, you gestured him over. He quickly came over the couch and laid directly on top of you. “Hey! That is not what I meant and you know it,” His arms snaked around your waist, and you felt a smile form on his face that was buried in the crook of your neck. You shook your head with a smile, “Whatever, Sirius get over here!”
Sirius looked over at you with a dramatic expression of shock on his face. His mouth fell wide open, and he pointed to himself as to say who, me? You gave an exaggerated nod, and Sirius happily skipped over and flung himself onto your legs, and halfway onto James. James gave a joking huff, but everyone quickly settled in.
Some random movie James picked out was put on the TV. You were only mildly interested, but watched nonetheless. About halfway through, you got up with the intention of going to the bathroom. There was an excessive amount of complaining from Remus when you untangled yourself from him. You made your way to the bathroom, and when you got back the couch, Remus had already gotten himself comfortable by laying over Sirius and a bit of James. You rolled your eyes, not truly annoyed, and made room for yourself to sit with your back to James’s chest as the movie lolled on.
Although your day had been rough, your roommates were making it a whole lot better. Lips brushed your ear, and you were met with an actual whisper from James, “You alright? You seemed pretty out of it when we found you on the couch.” You smiled to yourself as you let your legs travel to the clump that was Sirius and Remus. Sirius took your legs and started to rub them gently. “Yeah I’m alright now.”

Ruined Movie Dates ✧.*
Tumblr media
James Potter x Reader
Hurt/Comfort
“Did you think I would have been mad? because i’m not mad, honestly I don’t think I could ever be mad at you even now when you hide yourself in a bathroom to avoid me helping you when you are hurt, I can never be mad.”
masterlist
————————————————————————
You are currently hiding from James in the bathroom.
It’s not like you want to be hiding from James, you want to be cuddled up in his arms watching a movie right about now as you had planned yesterday, but here you are with a black eye hiding in your bathroom as you hear James letting himself into your apartment.
It really wasn’t your fault it’s not like you prompted this person to punch you, she mistaked you for the girl who slept with her girlfriend and that’s fair.
but god does it hurt like an absolute bitch.
And all you know is that James can not know about this. Your sweet, kind, lovely, caring boyfriend would flip the absolute fuck out if he saw that you had a black eye.
in a loving and concerned way of course but, how exactly are you going to hide it from him when he’s literally in your apartment right now for a movie date?
you have absolutely no idea.
“Love?”
you hear James call from the entry way
“I’m just in the bathroom i’ll be out in a sec!”
fuck.
you usually keep your makeup in a drawer under the sink but as you open it is you realize you left your foundation in your purse yesterday when you were running late to work. Now you really have to option but to kick James out and wait until your eye heals to see him again.
“Um James can you come here please?” you ask in a small voice
you hear his footsteps come from the kitchen up until the door and you open the door a crack so that he can’t see your bruised eye
“I’m really not feeling good tonight and I know it’s a little late to cancel seemingly as you’re already in my apartment but I hope you’ll understand when I ask you to please go?”
he stands there silently staring at you, evaluating you, looking right into your soul, and stealing all the thoughts from your brain.
how dare he.
“If you really are feeling unwell and want me to go, I will but I don’t mind getting sick and I would rather take care of you, if you’ll let me?”
and shit. When he talks in that sickly sweet voice it’s really fucking hard to lie to him.
“Jamie I appreciate the offer but I just really need you to go-“
as you are as politely as possible asking him to remove himself from the premises of your apartment complex he shifts his position allowing him to see just a little further into the bathroom. Just enough to see your absolutely fucked eye.
“Baby what happened?”
All the sudden his concerned look gets ten times worse. his eyebrow scrunches more and is frown deepens and he opens the door to grab your chin and examine your eye.
without the stress of trying to hide from james you can finally feel the throbbing pain in your eye and you really wish you had sneaked an ice pack before you scurried into hiding
“lovie you have to tell me what happened”
you just whine.
he lightly brushes his finger over the bruise and you wince
“sorry”
“it’s okay” you say taking a deep breath
“This girl mistaked me for the girl her girlfriends been cheating on her with but it’s not her fault because she showed me a picture and we do look exactly the same I mean I was wondering if i was secretly adopted and had a twin that I didn’t know about-“
and now youre rambling and it doesn’t seem to be soothing james’ pitying expression
“ Love why didn’t you call me immediately? I would have been there in an instant. Did you think I would have been mad? because i’m not mad, honestly I don’t think I could ever be mad at you even now when you hide yourself in a bathroom to avoid me helping you when you are hurt, I can never be mad.”
“i’m sorry I just didn’t want to make it a big deal”
“it is a big deal, you’re hurt, cmon love let’s go get an ice pack that must hurt”
and he scooped you up into his arms as if it was your legs that were hurt and carried you the couch as he grabbed an ice pack
you can’t lie, there are much worse things than being taken care of by james. much much worse.

Something That Will Last (James Potter x Reader)ïżŒ
Heyyy so it’s been over a week
whoopsie. This fic took so incredibly long for no reason. Send in requests if you got em!
Kind of an enemies to lovers type beat, except the reader just hates James at first.
3.7K words - enjoy!
‱
You moved swiftly down the halls of Hogwarts, your robes catching air behind you. You walked quickly, with purpose, and watched with satisfaction as scared first years scrambled to get out of your way. Now, you weren’t actually angry, in fact, you were in a great mood. But you had built up a bit of a reputation for yourself during your time at Hogwarts. You were a terrifying Slytherin, who chose to not align herself with anyone.
Everyone had receive your message: Stay away from me and I’ll leave you alone. If not, watch out. Well, almost everyone. The only exception? James fucking Potter. He was the only person who seemed to find your taunts empty, funny even.
James delighted in pushing your buttons and winding you up. It started in your second year when Slytherin and Gryffindor had potions together. He’d taunt you by shouting borderline declarations of love at you. It was disgusting, and you’ve loathed him ever since. It also seemed as though the universe loathed you, because James was in almost every single one of your classes. The only peace in your day was Muggle Studies. Absolutely boring class, but there was no James Potter making snide or flirtatious comments in your ear, so it became your favorite.
You were daydreaming about that very class as you walked into History of Magic. You took your usual seat in the back of the class, and James smiled widely at you as he took his usual seat right in front of you. You rolled your eyes as you took an inkwell and parchment from your bag, preparing to ignore him and focus on your notes for the rest of class. That’s when the professor decided to announce something that made your heart sink, “Alright students, we’re going to be partnering up for a project. Choose carefully, this will be a significant part of your grade.”
You quickly turned to look at Remus Lupin. Although he was associated with James, he was kind and smart, and your go-to partner. At least he was. You saw Remus already buddied up with Sirius. Both boys shot you a satisfied look, and you saw James waltz up to you, “Seems like we’re the only two not partnered up yet, a dazzling coincidence if I ever did see one.” You realized that Sirius and Remus definitely set the both of you up for this, or more likely, James told them to do this. You mouthed the words, traitors to the boys across the room, and they shrugged innocently and looked away to get started.
You rolled your eyes and sat back down at your desk. James sat in the seat next to you happily. “Sooo, partner, how do you want to do this thing?” You gave James an annoyed look, “I think we’re going to have to wait and figure that out after the professor explains what this project is about.”
James’ happy look didn’t falter, instead, his eyes brightened, “Right you are! Wow, I’m so lucky to have the most brilliant partner!” You rolled your eyes so hard you were sure they were going to come rolling out of your head, “Stop taking the piss, Potter.” You turned back the front of the classroom where the professor had started to explain your project. Each pair was going to be assigned an important magical figure from one of the lessons you had learned previously. Then, you would have to make a presentation about their life, and explain their contributions to magic. You and James were assigned Godric Gryffindor himself, much to your chagrin.
“Ridiculous. I can’t believe I’m going to be stuck with you for who knows how long, learning all about a guy that built a house full of James Potters.” You complained. “Oh don’t pretend you don’t love this. I know I do.” Instead of replying to his jokes anymore, you decided that the most painless way of getting through this project would be putting your head down and getting the work done. “I’ll start researching into his life from birth into early adulthood. You go from adulthood to death. Got it? Good.” James looked a bit stunned at your sudden change in attitude and pouted at you. “Alright, meet in the library at 7:00 tonight. We’ll get more done if we work together.” Before you could argue at his illogical and utterly idiotic words, the bell rung. He shoved all his belongings into his bag haphazardly and shouted as he left the room, “It’s a date!”
Walking to the library, you did realize that you had the choice not to go. You almost turned around and walked back to the Slytherin common room, but you decided that remaining somewhat civil with James would go a long way for this project. You spotted James not long after entering the library, sitting at a table and scribbling hurriedly in a book. You wondered briefly what he was writing, but then decided you didn’t care. You could have no distractions while working on this project; everything had to be done promptly. This would assure that the least amount of time possible was spent with James.
James didn’t notice you until you sat down next to him. He looked up from his book at you with his usual enthusiasm, “Ah, I was wondering when my beautiful little ball of sunshine would join me!” You glared at him, “Fuck off, Potter.” Well, there goes your civility, not a great start. Either way, your words did nothing to deter him, in fact, he seemed to like this “game” the two of you were playing, “Poetic as always, my dear.”
You scoffed and opened a book about the history of Hogwarts that you’d bought in your second year. It had plenty of information about all the house founders, perfect for this project. James had also seemingly found a book to gather his information from. The two of you worked silently for a bit, until the hushed voice of Sirius spoke from behind, “James! We’ve been looking all over for you!” You jumped in your seat, nearly falling over. James reached out and grabbed your waist, effectively stopping your descent. You felt yourself flush when James kept his hand around your waist as he spoke to Sirius.
Apparently, the marauders were supposed to go out and pull some stupid prank that night, and James had forgotten. You honestly weren’t paying much attention. Instead exchanging a desperate look with Remus, who glanced back at you amusedly due to your situation. You tuned back in when you heard Sirius say your name, “You don’t mind if we steal James, do you Y/n?”
You definitely weren’t going to object to that, “By all means, take him. Just make sure he starts on our project tonight.” James looked at you with a pout, then turned to Sirius, “She clearly doesn’t mean that. She’ll be devastated to be left here alone!” Sirius rolled his eyes and was about to respond, when Remus spoke up, “You know Pads, working on our project as well wouldn’t be the worst idea. What if we joined these two?”
James and Sirius made various sounds of dismay, as you excitedly squealed, “Yes! Study date!” James looked scandalized by your proclamation. “Oh, so NOW it’s a study date? You adamantly refused to say it earlier, but now that Padfoot and Moony are here
”
It was almost comical how the roles reversed as James (sort of) fake pouted, and you beamed at him, “Exactly, my two favorite people are here now, Sirius and Remus!”
That made James cross his arms and look squarely away from you. Sirius let out a laugh and cooed at James, “Aw cmon James, I’m sure she didn’t mean it.” The aforementioned boy looked at you with a coy look of hope in his eyes. You scoffed, but before you could say anything, Remus pinched your arm. “Be nice,” he warned. You scoffed, rubbing your arm, “I’m always nice, dickhead.”
You turned back to your book, hoping to get some real work done. Remus seemed to get the hint, but you couldn’t say the same for the other two boys. James and Sirius luckily only seemed to want to annoy each other. Shoving each other randomly than looking away as if you or Remus had done it was their go-to move. After the tenth time they’d done it, you looked up at the two of them, gave them your hardest glare, then pointed towards two books. The two of them looked terrified, and quickly picked up their respective books.
Much to your astonishment, they didn’t immediately go back to their tomfoolery. You had actually gotten a decent amount of work down the next time you heard James speak. “Y/nnn,” James groaned, dragging out the last syllable of your name. You glanced up at him, which he took as a sigh to keep taking. “Why don’t we call it a night? It’s Friday, and Gryffindor’s got a great party planned. Why don’t you come with us?”
The invitation caught you off guard- you had never really enjoyed the party seen, and to be honest, this seemed like a pity invite. “Oh I’m alright, I’ll just keep working on our project.” You said dismissively, expecting that to be the end of it. Instead, you were met with Sirius and Remus on either side of you, both whining out, “Pleaseeeee.” You looked back and forth at them while raising an eyebrow at their behavior. “I’ve got a lot of work left to finish, besides you guys will still have a great time without me.”
You finally turned your back to them, but didn’t hear any footsteps walking away. As you turned to investigate why this was, a strong set of arms lifted you up and slung you on their shoulder. “James Potter put me down this instant!” you whisper-yelled. Sirius and Remus giggled at the two of you like school girls. You sent them a withering glare, but their laughter only increase in volume.
Once James exited the library into the empty hall, you pounded on his back, “You big oaf, put me down!” He did nothing but keep walking calmly, as if he had no care in the world. “No can do, darling. You never come to our parties, and you’re practically working yourself to death!” You rolled your eyes, only James Potter would consider finishing an assignment a near-death experience. He continued, “You’re coming for a night out with the Gryffindors, and you’re going to have an amazing time.” His tone of voice was surprisingly firm.
The longer that James had you over his shoulder, the more you appreciated your situation. You had an amazing view of his
assets, and you could feel his hands on your thighs, though he was low enough to be respectful. Sirius had apparently noticed your wondering gaze, and snapped playfully, “Oi! Keep your eyes up. Prongs isn’t just a piece of meat for you to lick your chops at!” You snapped your eyes up after getting caught. You felt James’ shoulders shake as he chuckled, “I don’t mind, I know what I got going on back there.” His sheer confidence made you blush madly, and you said nothing. Luckily, the Gryffindor common room was now in sight. James set you down as you reached the portrait, and you half considered making a break for the Slytherin common room. Unfortunately for you, Sirius and Remus blocked your way and smiled innocently as you grumbled and crawled through the portrait.
You were quickly ushered up to the boys’ dorm, where Sirius sat you down on his bed and started throwing various items of clothing at you. “Sirius what the hell-“ your protest was cut short by a shirt being thrown at you, thus covering your head. You peeled the shirt off and heard the stifled laughter of James and Remus. Sirius chose not to acknowledge your displeasure, and instead started holding up various shirts, as if trying to picture you in each one. “Ok Sirius, what are you doing?” The boy just tutted at you. “Just let him do his thing,” Remus said from his own bed, where he sat with James. You grumbled , not wanting to be left out of the loop, but soon Sirius threw a few clothing items at you. He pushed you toward the bathroom while saying, “Go now, put that on and show me my genius.”
You gave him an almost worried look, but chose to appease him and change. Sirius had given you an old pair of jeans (presumably his) and a cropped t shirt of some muggle band. You looked at your self in the mirror, and were shocked at how flattering the outfit was. It was definitely simple, but the combination just worked. You walked out of the bathroom and spun around once. You were met with a chorus of praise from the boys. A grin spread out on your face as Sirius commented, “Oh Merlin have mercy, I’ve done it again!”
James let out a quiet “Wow,” that made your heart flutter in your chest. That confused you. You had never liked James, he had always been a nuisance to you. Yeah, that’s all he was. Nothing more, nothing less. You chose to focus on Sirius who was wiping away fake tears, “Sometimes I just can’t believe my own genius.” You pushed him playfully and rolled your eyes. “Yeah, yeah. When is this party starting. I need firewhiskey stat.”
Remus wordlessly handed you a flask, and you shrugged, taking a generous sip. It was James who answered your question, “The party should be in full swing now, but I think Remus and Sirius still need to get ready. I can take you down if you’d like.” Sirius looked as if he was about to butt in and complain about the falsities of James’ statement, but Remus put a hand on his shoulder, “Yeah we’ll be down in a bit.”
You gave them a questioning look, butsighed and looked at James. “Yeah I suppose that will work.” James looked thrilled, and offered you his arm, “M’lady.” You couldn’t help but grin at his antics. You took his arm and replied in the same posh accent he had put on, “What a gentleman!” As the two of you made your way down the stairs, you realized that maybe your disliking for James had been a bit unfair.
Yes, he was annoying. But he was also really sweet, and funny, and you couldn’t deny that he was gorgeous. You decided right then and there that maybe you’d start giving him a bit easier of a time. The music got louder and louder as reached the main common area. It was already full of students from various houses. They were all either drinking, dancing, or talking. A new song came on, and you gasped, looking at James.
“Holy shit I love this song!” You dragged James by his arm to this dance floor, failing to notice the deep red hue of his cheeks.
You started twirling and moving your body with the music. James did the same. Your exaggerated movements garnered a bit of attention, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to care. James grabbed your hand and spun you, before dipping you low. You giggled and blushed a bright pink. He smirked at you as he picked you back up with ease and continued dancing. This went on for a few more songs, until you noticed Remus and Sirius walking down the stairs. The pair of you walked off of the dance floor, and waved them over to where you stood.
“Moony! Padfoot! Over here!” James called. Remus spotted you two first with his higher vantage point, and made his way over, Sirius trailing slightly behind. Once they reached you, you spoke, “None of you lot told me how good of a dancer James is.” James blushed and pushed you gently, “Oh sod off, now you’re just making fun of me.” You looked up at him with genuine eyes, “No I’m not! Do you know how many guys would have been afraid of looking silly while dancing with a girl? You didn’t care and it made everything so much more fun!” A smile spread across his face, he looked as if he was going to say something, but Sirius got to it first, “Oh! A game of truth or dare is starting, let’s go join!”
All four of you walked over and joined the small circle. Already in it were Barty, Lilly, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, and Regulus. You knew all of them from various classes, and they already seemed well acquainted with the marauders. You walked over to Barty whom you were partnered with in Herbology. “Hey! Can we join?” Barty smiled up at you and gestured for you to sit next to him, “C’mere N/n! There’s always room for a few more.” James also walked over and sat on the opposite side of the circle.
The game started pretty mellow. Sirius dared Lilly to dance with a random fourth year, Remus made Marlene recount the harrowing tale of her first kiss, and innocent things such as that. Evan had just gotten done listing his too three people he’d want to date at Hogwarts (Sirius was offended he didn’t make the list), but then he turned his sights to you. “L/n! You haven’t been asked yet, so: truth or dare?” You considered playing it safe, but that seemed far too boring. So you made direct eye contact with Barty as you said, “Dare.”
There was a chorus of “oohs” heard from around the circle as Barty thought about what to say. He pondered for a moment before smirking at you. You felt a little nervous, knowing that the boy had about zero shame. “Kiss the person you find most attractive in this circle.” You wanted to scream. Daring someone to kiss someone else? It was so cliche. But, you didn’t want to be that person, the one who ruins the game for everyone else. You took a deep breath, and looked straight at James.
James’ expression was confused. He didn’t want to get excited, think that you were looking at him because you were going to kiss him, and then becoming heartbroken as you kissed Sirius or something. He held his breath as you slowly got up and walked in his direction. You got closer and closer, while James tuned everyone out but you. You eventually stopped right in front of him, and leaned down. James’ heart was pounding in his chest, and yours was doing the same.
You started to close the distance between the two of you, but James decided he couldn’t wait even a fraction of a second longer. His lips surged to meet yours. You let out a surprised sound, but wrapped your arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. There was the faintest taste of alcohol of his lips, and you were desperate to taste more. The kiss definitely lasted longer than would be appropriate for a game of truth or dare, but that didn’t bother you. Not right now, not when the lips of James Potter were all over yours.
The two of you would have been content staying that way for the entire night, but a loud cough brought you back to reality. You pulled back, with a sheepish look, and saw that everyone else in the circle was grinning wildly. You started to get up, but James gently pulled you down and sat you next to him. Remus leaned into you and whispered in your ear, “I gather that you’ve gotten over your little hatred for Prongs then?” You shoved him into Regulus, who looked utterly offended at the action.
The game continued on, and your thoughts were running rampant. Did you just screw up your shaky friendship? James seemed like he was into it, but what if he just didn’t want to embarrass you? A large hand gently placed itself on your thigh. You looked to find James looking ahead, laughing at Sirius having to give Barty a lap dance. (The latter was absolutely loving it, but the same could not be said for the former.) There were only a few more dates before you decided to call it a night. Despite all of the signs he was giving you, you still didn’t want to let yourself believe James might like you back.
You excused yourself from the group, and slowly started to make your way out of the Gryffindor common room. Just as you were about to reach the portrait, a gentle hand came and grabbed hold of your wrist. You were about to slap some sense into whoever thought they could touch you without permission, but you were met with the nervous face of James. “Why did you decide to head out so early? Did I make you uncomfortable? Oh Merlin I did! I’m so sorry. Look I’ll leave the game and you can go back in and join. I really don’t mi-“
“James.” Your interruption made his rambling come to a halt. “You didn’t make me uncomfortable, I’m just a little tired. Parties aren’t really my scene anyways.” You decided to settle on a half lie. James really didn’t make you uncomfortable, but you were leaving because your own head told you he didn’t like you. James somehow seemed to detect that you weren’t telling the whole truth, “You’re lying. Why are you really leaving. Was I that bad of a kisser?”
His fake pout that accompanied his question made you giggle. The tension between the two of you eased slightly, and you decided to just tell him. If he seemed mortified, then you would hop through the portrait and drop out of Hogwarts. That seemed pretty reasonable to you. Before your courage had the chance to disappear, you laid it all out, “James, I really like you, and I really liked the kiss. Probably more than I should have. I don’t expect you to reciprocate this, so I’ll just leave. I can finish our project and everything don’t even wor-“
This time it was James who cut you off. His lips met yours softly, almost hesitant. You once again heard the hooting and hollering of your friends, who definitely hadn’t been watching the two of you since James walked off. You shrugged off all of the worry that had been mounting on your shoulders. He leaned into you more, and let out a slight groan. You smiled into the kiss, before parting. “So I take it you might like me back?” James smiled right back at you, “Yeah maybe just a little.” Your lips met again, and you knew that this could last.

Of All People - Sirius Black x Reader
~ 1.7k words
‱
Now let’s be clear, you loved your brother, but some deep, shameful part of you resented him for the attention he attracted. Your parents had instilled posh pureblood ideologies into your heads from young ages. Luckily, you were able to see through their bullshit. Severus wasn’t so lucky.
He brought that thinking into Hogwarts, and was ecstatic when both you and him were sorted into Slytherin, where he took no time at all befriending other air headed Slytherins who thought the same. This, along with the simple fact of his existence, brought the full wrath of the marauders down on your brother, which also trickled down to you.
The marauders would endlessly bully and tease your brother. Being the dimwit he was, he always decides to try and fight back, ultimately failing every time. They would cast small hexes on you in the hallways, just constant, small annoyances. Eventually, it seemed as though Snape wasn’t enough of a challenge for the marauders, which caused them to turn fully to you. Now you were the one getting harassed. Constant jabs at the way you looked, filth about you thinking the same way as Severus, and the never ending comments about the amount of foundation you wore. What kind of guy even noticed that stuff?
To be quite frank, it sucked. You were stuck with a shitty brother whom you loved, and a group of boys who bullied you for that very reason. It was exhausting, which meant that you valued every moment you could find yourself at peace- like right now. You were sitting underneath a tree near Black Lake. It was the first of the warmer days at Hogwarts, so you blended in with the multitudes of students soaking up the sun. You hoped this blending would be enough to allow you some quality time away from the marauders.
You leaned back your head against the bark of the tree. There was a gentle wind blowing across your face, a gentle buzz of voices coming from the other students outside, and a heavy liquid falling down your face. Wait
what? You opened your eyes quickly and rubbed at your face. It felt as though sticky black tar had been dumped on your head.
Though the substance made it hard to see, you could hear the roaring laughter of James, Peter, Remus, and Sirius. “What the hell? What is your issue? You couldn’t leave it for one day?” You questioned. You had cleared the goo enough clear your eyesight, and could see the amused faces of the boys. Sirius had the biggest grin stretching across his face, “Aw, we wouldn’t do that to you. You simply look too adorable with black sludge covering your face. Honestly, it looks better than that makeup you cake on everyday.”
You could punch him for the look on his face. You had already been having a crappy day, as your parents had sent you a letter reminding you that the summer holiday was approaching, and they expected you to not forget your manners like you seem so inclined to do.
Basically, if you didn’t listen to every word they said, you were going to “get straightened out” like your mother always said. The letter was fresh in your mind, and with it, a need to punch something. Luckily for you, there were four perfect targets standing right in front of you.
You took a step towards James, the closest of them to you. He looked slightly confused, but taunted you nevertheless, “You coming in for a kiss? Sorry, I don’t French with snakes.” That was all you needed. You reared back your fist, and punched James Potter square in the gut. He doubled over in pain, and you swear you’ve never felt so much joy. Peter and Remus rushed over to him right away. Sirius looked at you in shock and took you by the shoulders. “You’re such a bitch! I knew all of the Snapes were the same. Just leave Hogwarts! We don’t need another bunch of rancid, pureblood twats spitting nonsense around here!” He was screaming in your face, and everything about what he was saying infuriated you.
“Excuse me? Have you ever thought of asking about what I believe instead of assuming I’m just like my brother? I don’t believe in any of that shit! And what’s even worse, I have to suffer the consequences of being a half decent person all the time!” Sirius looked confused at your last sentence, so you rolled your eyes and casted a simple spell to clean the liquid off of your face, along with the thick layer of foundation you had applied that morning. Underneath, a giant scar cut along your cheek. It was relatively new, so the skin around it was red and puckered.
Sirius sucked in a quick breath. The other marauders had stopped cooing over James, and looked to you with shocked expressions. “Oh Merlin, I’m so sorry-“ you cut Sirius off. “Just stop, I thought you of all people would know what I was going through, but I guess not.” You started walking away, but when you heard the footsteps of Sirius behind you, you sped up to a run.
The footsteps behind you also increased in their pace, and a large hand grasped your wrist. You turned to look at Sirius. Tears had started forming in your eyes, but you wiped them away in futile the hope that would stop Sirius from seeing them. Sirius didn’t speak right away, instead he chose to study your face. You squirmed, under his scrutiny, you just felt ugly. Your red rimmed eyes, stuffy nose, and large scar now visible. You were heavily considering bolting away again until he spoke up, “I’m sorry. I- I never even considered that you might not be like your family. And you’re right, out of anyone, I should have been the one to give you the benefit of the doubt.” You looked back up at him, his eyes seemed genuinely apologetic, but that didn’t mean you were letting him off the hook just yet.
“Yeah, you should be sorry. You and your cronies have been ruining my life here at Hogwarts. My one escape from my family. And you’ve been taking the absolute piss out of my brother. I know how he is, but he’s still my brother. Talk to me again when you show me you want to change.” With that, you pulled your wrist from his grip and walked back to your dorm. You really wanted to give him a second chance, partly because you had been harboring a small crush on him since first year. But before you could even let yourself consider that, he had to prove that he wanted to change. You sat in your dorm thinking about that very scenario, wishing, hoping, praying, that he would make the effort.
And in the next few weeks, he did. There were certainly the occasional taunts thrown towards your brother in the halls, but you supposed you could live with that. There were no more cruel pranks aimed towards you or Severus, and Sirius had even made James, Peter, and Remus write out apology notes and deliver them to you personally. You had probably gotten way too much enjoyment out of that one.
As you ate in the Great Hall, surrounded by a few acquaintances, you felt a tap on your shoulder. Behind you was a nervous looking Sirius. “Would you like to come over and eat with us? I swear, no bad intentions. We really want to get to know you.” His voice was much smaller than you had ever heard it. You weighed your options back and forth, but with the genuine effort he had been putting into righting his wrongs, there was no way you could deny him. “I would be delighted to.”
His face lit up at that, and you could see his confidence instantly repair itself. He led you over to where he and the other marauders sat, guiding you by placing his hand on the small of your back. The simple act caused your face to redden, but if he noticed, he didn’t say anything. Once you sat down at the table, everything was surprisingly normal. The other boys made one more quick apology each, but then the conversation quickly migrated to more light hearted topics.
“Okay, James,” it was hard to speak through your laughter, “You went up to this fifty year old dude, and insisted he was your mom?” The entire table burst out in laughter. “It was an intense game of truth or dare, I had ten galleons riding on it!” Remus smirked at him, “Yeah, but you still ended up losing,” he then looked to you, “You want to know why, Y/n?” You looked at him nodding, as you heard Peter groan, “Don’t do this mate.” Remus only spared him a glance as he launched back into his story, “So the truth or dare game was down to just Peter and James, and neither of them would back out. That’s when Sirius came out with this absolutely vile looking plate of chicken. It was cold, half raw, and definitely spoiled. We dared James and Peter to eat it for the win. James backed out immediately, but Peter ate it and puked for weeks.”
You had been drinking pumpkin juice as Remus told his story. But once he reached the part where Peter at the chicken, you lost it. Laughter spilled from your lips, and juice came up out of your nose. This only made the laughter at the table increase ten fold. You realized that you were receiving from worried glances from the students around you, but the laughter clouded your mind and you couldn’t bring yourself to care. You finally managed to calm yourself, and Sirius handed you a napkin of while wiping away a tear. You wiped away the juice, and caught sight of the watch on your wrist as you did so.
“Shit, I was supposed to be working on a Potions paper due tomorrow! I’ve gotta be off, this was lovely though!” You hugged Peter who sat right next to you, the boy looked a bit shocked, but satisfied nonetheless. You saw the pouty look emerge in Sirius’ eyes, so you leaned across the table and pecked him on the cheek. His face immediately blossomed into a lovely pink hue as the boys shouted out variations of, “You’re in!” “When’s the wedding?” and “Can I be the best man?” You smiled as you walked away from them, hoping that you’d be invited to sit with them again tomorrow.

Slip Ups (Part 2) Poly Marauders x Reader
Tumblr media
Quick note: Omg I can’t believe I’ve already finished my first fic. It’s obviously a pretty small one (only two parts) but i’m so excited that people actually seem to like it! If you have requests please send them- I need ideas!
This part is about 2.3k words- I hope you enjoy!
‱
Earlier, sneaking around and breaking rules with the marauders sounded fun. Running away from teachers, giggling amongst each other, and thinking of new pranks when inspiration struck. Really, who wouldn’t want to prance around with Hogwarts’ hottest group of guys? But right now, looking at that same group standing in front of you, you wanted to be swallowed whole by the couch you were sitting on. The boys had been about to sneak out and continue on their adventure without you, but somehow spotted you before they actually left.
“Hey, are you guys heading out?” You winced at how lame you sounded as James replied, “Uh, yeah? I invited you earlier today. We thought you’d gone to sleep already, but this is perfect! Now we can all head out!” Your stomach sank at the excited nod the three of them shared. There was no way you could just ditch them without hurting their feelings. You slowly heaved yourself up from the couch and made your way over to them.
“James’ invisibly cloak is probably too small for all of us, so we’ll need to split up into pairs. Who here’s good at the disillusionment charm?” Remus asked. James shook his head first, “I’ve only casted it a handful of times, I’m no good.” Sirius looked at you and Remus sheepishly, “Same here, Y/n, gorgeous, love of my life, please tell me you know how to cast it?” Your face felt hot at Sirius’ words, but before you could answer James interrupted, “Hold on Sirius, I wouldn’t mind huddling close under the invisibility cloak with Y/n.” He sent a wink your way and you were pretty sure your face would burst into flames at any moment. Before anyone else could get in another remark, you spoke, “I’m pretty good with the charm. So Remus and I will use the charm while you two,” you pointed at James and Sirius, “use the cloak?”
Remus nodded in agreement, “Yeah, that should work, now let’s head out. We’ve got a long night ahead of us.” James and Sirius threw the cloak over themselves and immediately disappointed. You and Remus looked at each other. You watched as Remus cast the charm on himself, and you watched as he disappeared. The only evidence that he was there was the faintest outline around him. You took a deep breath, then did the same, muttering the incantation and finally disappearing. You heard a low whistle, but couldn’t see who did it. You were immensely grateful at that moment that none of them could see you flush red. “Ok, let’s head out. I trust that you, Sirius and James, know the plan. Darling, we’ll fill you in on the way.”
Your mouth dropped open as you all headed out of the common room. The entire student population at Hogwarts described Remus as the shy, stoic type. All of that seemingly disappeared from his demeanor the second he started talking to you or the other marauders. Did that mean he liked you too? Did that mean all of them did? You shook your head as if to clear the thought. Stay focused L/n, don’t be ridiculous. A low whisper broke you out of your all-over the place thoughts, “Make sure we stick together, splitting off from each other just makes us more likely to get caught.” Remus reasoned. You agreed with his thinking, but were slightly surprised when you felt a hand grab your own. You let out a squeal of shock, then quickly slapped a hand over your face. “Sorry about that,” Remus adjusted his grip on your hands, so they were now intertwined, “hopefully we’ll be able to stick together more easily now.” You quickly wondered how he was able to find you so quickly, but brushed it off as him having a keen eye. “Oh, yeah. Makes sense.” Your voice wavered a bit, but if any of them noticed, they didn’t say. Another voice spoke. It was James, surprising you with how close he was, “Alright, let’s head to the snake pit.”
Nerves churned in your stomach as you made your way to the Slytherin common room. Yeah, that was definitely the reason your stomach was in a knot, certainly not the fact that one of your longtime crushes, Remus Lupin, was holding your hand. Remus, feeling the way your hand tensed, mistook your infatuation for the fear of being caught, “Hey, don’t worry, this is a pretty mild prank compared to some of our others. James wouldn’t have invited you if this could get you into serious trouble. You want me to walk you through the prank? Would that help?” You couldn’t help but melt a little at his concern. “No, it’s alright, I think I’d rather be surprised by your guys’ utter genius.” You said the last words with obvious sarcasm, as Remus let out a noise of disbelief, “I’ll choose to ignore that last bit. But good choice, you’re going to love it. Oh, and would you look at that, we’ve arrived.”
You looked and around and realized Remus was, in fact, correct. It was colder down in the dungeons compared to the Gryffindor common room. You wrapped one arm around yourself as Remus led you toward the sound of James and Sirius’ footsteps. Sirius, having heard the pair of you approach, told each marauder where to go and what to do, “and you, my dear Y/n, get to sit back and enjoy the show.” You waited as they all dispersed. You looked around nervously, praying that prefects didn’t decide to do check in over heard for the next few minutes. But you also couldn’t deny the adrenaline rush you were feeling. You had never really been a strictly “by the rules” student, but you’d also never snuck out to prank Slytherins in the middle of the night. An out of breath silhouette of Remus stood in front of you, you could hear from the way he spoke that he was smiling, “Now we get to watch it all unfold,”
He led you to the now open door of the Slytherin common room. It was absolutely nerve-wracking being in there, but the way Remus grabbed your hand again made you feel a lot a little better. Suddenly, you heard a commotion, and a group of four Slytherins came scrambling into their common room. You recognized them as students that would constantly pick of the first years and make fun of any other wizards and witches for not being pureblood. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t feel any satisfaction from seeing their panicked faces, and you strained to hear their conversation, “Did you see that?” a tall and skinny wizard said. Another wizard who looked almost identical aside from his much lighter hair responded, “Of course I did! I didn’t think ghosts could get into our common rooms! But did you see that thing? It was all bloody and mangled and terrifying.” The first boy spoke up again, “Of course I saw it! And it doesn’t look like any of the ghosts here at Hogwarts. We’re so fucked!” The group of them looked positively frightened, before a shorter boy who hadn’t said anything yet pointed to the dorm stairs and spoke in a shaky voice, “Guys
”
A pale man floated through the air towards the boys. His hair was flat and greasy, his neck bore long gashes caked with blood, and he looked angry. Remus squeezed your hand as if to reassure you that this was all fake, and you were immensely grateful for it. You watched as the boys ran around the common room like headless chickens, attempting to flee from the ghost. The tall boy with light hair had been cornered by the ghost, and whimpered. It was hard to make out in the dimness, but you could see how his pyjama bottoms started to darken, indicating that, “Oh Merlin, he just pissed himself,” you whispered to Remus. The two of you cracked up, while trying to be as silent as possible. You were laughing so hard that you didn’t notice when the prank had ended, not until Remus calmed himself and muttered, “Let’s get out of here.”
The two made your way towards the Gryffindor common room. You were walking at a nice leisurely pace until your ears picked up on a pair of footsteps that didn’t belong to you or Remus. You stopped Remus, asking, “Do you hear that?” The both of you listened, but Remus was the one to catch sight of Filch as he turend the corner, walking down the same hallway you and Remus were in. Now, Remus and you were still disillusioned, but neither of you were willing to take the chance of being caught. Remus grabbed you and pulled you into a nearby broom closet quietly. The two of you were both breathing heavily as you strained to hear if Filch was gone or not. Your thoughts didn’t stay of Filch for long, however. They were pulled to Remus’ strong chest now pushed flush to yours. His arms hanging at his sides, but were still so close to you. Remus had apparently noticed the same thing, because you could feel his breath hitch. You desperately didn’t want the atmosphere to turn awkward, so you whispered to him, “How long do you think we’ll be-“ he interrupted you. “You didn’t want to come out with us tonight, why?”
His tone wasn’t accusatory, it was just matter-of-fact. Regardless, you started to stumble over your words, “What? I didn’t- I never said, that. You just.. read the situation-“ he cut you off again. “Just be honest. Is it because your uncomfortable with us? Do you not like breaking rules? What is it?” His tone was so desperate, you just wanted to tell him everything. Tell him how the reason you didn’t want to go out with them was because you were so horribly in love with each of them, even though they were already in the perfect relationship. Your silence made the air in the closet feel heavy. Suddenly, you felt Remus move his hands to your hips. It made you feel dizzy and hot and wonderful at the same time. He leaned down, “Or did you not want to come out with us because of how you feel towards us?” His words shocked you. “Look, I’m not trying to mess you guys up. I know you’re already committed to each other. I swear I’ll distance myself and leave you guys alone.”
Remus spoke quickly, “No! that’s not what I want- not what we want.” “What? What are you talking about?” you questioned, trying to stop the feeling of hope blooming in your chest. “James, Sirius, and I speak about you all the time. Those ‘jokes’ we make in class? That’s just how we feel. We want you, if you are willing, to be with us.” If you thought Remus’ hands on your hips made you feel things, his confession doubled those feelings. “Really? You’re not kidding? Because that would break my heart.” Remus wrapped his arms around you and pulled you impossibly closer to him, “I swear to you that I am telling the truth.”
Giddiness overtook you. Without thinking, you grabbed Remus’ face and pulled him towards you, smashing your lips onto his. The kiss was full of all your pent up longing for this exact moment. All of the times they’d make flirty comments toward you without you knowing how to respond, all of those moments you wished you could just fit in to their world. But right here, kissing Remus, you finally felt like it was a really possibility. You both pulled back, gasping for air and grinning like idiots. Remus dragged you back to the Gryffindor common room excitedly, the pair of you practically skipping your way there.
Inside, you found a worried looking James and Sirius. “Where have the two of you been? We thought you guys had been caught!” Sirius rambled. You looked at Remus, confirming your prior situation hadn’t just been a figment of your imagination. He nodded and you with a smile and you launched yourself at Sirius, connecting your lips. He huffed in surprise before eagerly retuning the kiss. This kiss was wilder than your kiss with Remus. Sirius tasted slightly of fire whiskey, so you assumed he and James had celebrated their prank on their way back from the dungeons. You heard the disbelieving chuckle from James as he talked with Remus, “I take it you told her then?” You broke a part from Sirius and looked at James, “He might’ve.”
James walked over to you with the brightest smile you’ve ever seen. Your lips met and finally everything was complete. You had the three men you’ve been pining over for forever all to yourself, and you didn’t want to waste a single moment with them. You flung your arms around James’ neck and pulled his head even closer to yours. He obliged you as he smiled into your lips and kissed you sweetly. When you both finally came up for air, you looked around at Remus, Sirius, and then back to James. They all looked back at you with the same excitement you were sure was displayed plainly across your face. The look in their eyes was the only confirmation you needed: this was going to work. All of you fear and worries surrounding whether they really liked you or if this would last disappeared. They were going to do everything in their power to make this work, and you would do the same.
The four of you went up to the boys’ dorm and flipped down onto one of their beds. It was a tangled mess of limbs, but no one cared. You used Sirius as a pillow while James laid on your stomach and Remus was lying by your side. You were pretty sure life didn’t get any better than this.

Slip Ups (Pt.1?) Poly Marauders x reader
Tumblr media
Authors Note: Hey! This is my first ever fic so it might not be the best. The reader is Gryffindor, and the Marauders are already in a relationship. Lmk if you want a part two!
It was no secret that the marauders were fond of their pranks. Magical slime that only they knew the spell to remove, changing the color of the Slytherins robes to a deep red and gold instead of the usual silver and green, it was all commonplace at Hogwarts. But what you couldn’t figure out was why their favorite pranks were the ones they pulled on you.
Now their pranks towards you were never cruel. They were always small things like staring water balloon fights with you and your friends during the warmer months or them charming your shoes so that they grow one size bigger every time you jump (it had taken you a while to figure that one out). Even though their pranks were almost pitifully small, something about them just irked you. You weren’t particularly close, and you certainly hadn’t made enemies with them. You would have had to talk to them to do that! On top of all of this, the flirting was incessant.
You couldn’t make it through a single class without a “Is that a new perfume? You smell delicious,” (James) or a “Has anyone told you that you look absolutely ravishing today?” (Sirius)
It was certainly flattering, but it was also public. Didn’t they have any shame? You braced yourself as you walked to Defense Against the Dark Arts. As was to be expected you saw James, Sirius, and Remus talking loudly amongst themselves, stopping when you walked into the classroom. You made your way over to your regular seat, coincidentally right behind where they were standing.
Sirius grinned , “Did you somehow get even more gorgeous overnight? Give my poor heart a break L/n.” Remus and James both looked amused at Sirius’ remark. Remus replied to Sirius with a shocked expression, “You’re right,” he clutched his chest, “James catch me,” he said dramatically as he fell into James’ outstretched arms. You shook your head as a blush started to creep up your face. Luckily, the professor cleared his throat everyone took their seats as he began his lesson.
There was an open seat next to you, so James took it eagerly as Sirius and Remus sat in front of you. James leaned over and whispered in your ear, “We’re planning on sneaking around Hogwarts tonight, you wanna come?”
You turned to him with surprised look on your face. This was the first time any of them had ever invited you to break the rules with them, and you weren’t sure if that sounded like the smartest thing to do. You picked at your nails as you though about your answer. James, seeing the indecision on your face, spoke again, “C’mon
you’ll have a good time. We’d really like for you to join us.”
You studied James’ features. His sweet brown eyes showed nothing but sincerity, and to be truthful, you had made up your mind as soon as he offered. “Yeah, I suppose that could be fun,” you sighed out. James’ face immediately brightened and you couldn’t help but flush as you looked at him. Sirius had said you looked good today, but James. His smile was blindingly perfect. His dark curls laid on his head just messily enough for you to want to reach out and fix them. Or maybe you just wanted to run your fingers through his hair.
You had also noticed how good Remus and Sirius looked today. Remus with his sandy hair that laid considerably neater then James’, and eyes that you seemed to melt into entirely. Sirius had long, wavy black hair that made him look like a muggle rockstar. You were so lost in your thoughts about the boys around you that you didn’t realize you had been staring at James this entire time zoned out. He pushed your shoulder gently and whispered, “Where’d you go there?” “I was just,” you tried to find the right words, “lost in thought.” James looked at you teasingly, “Oh yeah? Because it looked an awful lot like you were checking us out.” His words made your eyes widen because of how close to the truth they were. You heard James chuckle as you turned away from him and started to scribble notes furiously as a distraction.
Once class ended, you decided to head off to the library. You had a free period, then lunch, so you knew you’d be able to study for the History of Magic exam you had to take tomorrow. You also knew, from overhearing the Marauder’s conversation, that Sirius and James planned on doing the same thing, while Remus had Herbology next. Not that you cared or anything

Once you arrived at the library, you quickly found a quiet spot to do your work at. You were both annoyed and oddly pleased when you heard the loud voices of James and Sirius walk in not long after. They were loudly shushed by the librarian, causing them to quiet down.
A few minutes later, you heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and the faces of James and Sirius popped into your vision. “Hey there gorgeous, you mind if we work over here with you?” Sirius asked while already haphazardly throwing a piece of parchment and a few quills onto the table. You rolled your eyes with a smile, “Yeah that’s fine. You guys studying for History of Magic too?”
James nodded his head. “Yeah, we wouldn’t usually do this until the class before but Remus said that he’d help us with the Potions essay if we did.” You hummed in acknowledgment as you opened up your textbook and began reviewing the material. Unfortunately for you, James and Sirius quickly grew bored of their textbooks and decided that you were far more interesting.
“Y/nnnn,” Sirius dragged your name out. You turned towards him and were met with the desperate eyes of both him and James. “Will you help us? We’re confused and you’re just so smart and beautiful and intelligent and kind and-“
You cut Sirius off, “Ok, ok. I’ll help you whiners out.” James pouted at your words which you ignored in favor of turning your book a few pages back.
“Let’s start with chapter 4, it’s probably the easiest material so we can work our way up to chapters 5 and 6 after this. Are there any parts in particular you don’t get?” James perked up, “Yeah, in the part about The Goblin Rebellion of 1832, it says that the Goblins refused to work for wizards until wizards treated them better. But in the next paragraph, it says the rebelled because it’s ‘simply in their nature.’ Doesn’t that kind of conflict?”
You were surprised at how into studying James was, but welcomed it openly. “I had to look into that to. Turns out, this book was cowritten. One of the authors is an absolute twat who thinks goblins are some kind of wild beasts, and the other’s a bit more rational. Just ignore anything that seems super anti-goblin.” “That makes sense, thank you,” James smiled widely at you, making your breath catch for a second. You mumbled  a “No problem,” and continued working. You could see James and Sirius exchanging a smug look at that.
More time passed, around an half an hour if you had to guess. The two boys worked relatively hard, and made a lot of progress. But now seemed as if they had reached their limit. You felt a finger poke you in the ribs. You jump back. “Oi, what’s your problem?” You ask a startled looking Sirius. He quickly regains his composure and looks at you. “Can we take a break? It’s been sooo long.” You give him and incredulous look, “It hasn’t been an hour yet, let’s just work a little longer.” The boys look at you with equally begging looks. “Please, Y/n? We just need a little study break.” James whined. “Nope,” you said, popping the ‘P’.
In response to your refusal, James and Sirius decided it’d be most effective to start alternating saying your name in increasing annoying voices. It didn’t take long for this to make your head pound, so you drew your wand and cast a quick muffliato spell on yourself, effectively making it impossible for you to hear the boys. This didn’t help you for long, as they realized what happened, and moved to start lightly poking you. You shot each boy a dirty look before undoing the muffliato charm. You were about to give them an earful before you heard a voice from behind you, “You wankers leave Y/n alone.” Remus came into view and gently smacked James and Sirius on the backs of their heads. They both fake winced and rubbed their heads. You were grateful for Remus, but you realized something, “Remus, shouldn’t you be in Herbology still? It doesn’t get over for another 15 minutes at least.” It occurred to Remus that you had memorized a bit of his schedule. He was definitely saving that information for later. “Yeah, some Slytherins thought it’d be fun to mess around with a venomous tentacula. One of them had to be taken to Madame Pomfrey and Professor Sprout was so shaken that she just dismissed the rest of us.”
You raised your eyebrows in surprise, “Yikes, I hope they’re alright.” “Serves that idiot right.” You and Sirius spoke at the same time. You gave him a scolding look and he just crossed his arms like an angry toddler. Remus chuckled at your guys’ antics. “Anyways, have you three managed to get any work done? Ya know, before you decided to start annoying Y/n,” Remus asked. James nodded, “That’s why we were ‘annoying’ her. We finished studying!” Remus raised an eyebrow at James. “Ok, what goblin business was the first to shut down as a result of the revolution?” James thought for a second before answering, “Gringotts!” Remus clapped quietly, “I’m impressed, Sirius, did you study just as hard?” “You know I did,” he winked at Remus. You saw a faint dusting of pink on Remus’ cheeks after the wink, causing Sirius to smirk. Remus was saved by the lunch bell.
All of the boys stood up, but you remained seated, ready to continue working on a paper assigned earlier in the week. “You coming to lunch, love?” You glanced over, realizing Remus’ words were directed at you. “Can’t, I’ve got to finish up my potions essay.” Sirius scoffed, “James and I already told you Remus was helping us with that. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind helping you as well. Besides, it’s not due for another week!” You looked at them uncertainly. Before today, you had only spoken to them during class and when they pulled their occasional pranks on you. This was new territory. But you weren’t going to refuse the ever-growing attention they were paying to you, so you slowly stood up. “Yeah I suppose I’m in need of a break anyways.” James gave a cheer and slung his arm around your shoulder. None of the boys missed how you blushed as he did so.
When you arrived at the Great Hall, you went to sit over with your normal group of friends. Sure the Marauders had made sure you came to lunch, but you didn’t want to overstay your welcome but inviting yourself to sit with them. Before you could take more then a few steps however, a hand caught your wrist. You looked to see James holding your arm, “Aren’t you gonna come sit with us?” You were surprised to see both Sirius and Remus looking so intently at you, awaiting your next words. “Uh, are you sure? I’m really not trying to overstep my bounds.” Sirius shook his head as if you had said something utterly ridiculous. “Overstepping? Please,” he ushered you over to their usual spot and sat you down, James taking the spot to your left. Remus sat across from you, Sirius sitting to his right.
You had absolutely no idea what to say. Before today, the only interaction you’d had with the marauders was their constant flirting, and the occasional trips to Hogsmeade, and those trips were always with a bigger group. Luckily, the boys didn’t have any awkwardness in starting a conversation. “Lads, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think I may be a genius,” Sirius started. You and Remus shared a What is he on about? look as Sirius rambled about a new prank he wanted to pull on the Slytherins.
“Ok, let me get this straight. You want to sneak into the snake pit, and charm their dormitory doors to open only if they say, ‘I’m a lousy, big footed git’?” You said in a disbelieving tone. “This seems a bit immature, even for you guys.” Sirius gave a mockingly offended look as James clutched his pearls and cried, “Not true!” You still believed the prank to be incredibly stupid, but also realized that Sirius’ silly rant had easily diffused any awkwardness you felt before. Merlin, Sirius was so good at easing your worries and breaking tension. And James made you laugh so easily. Remus made you comfortable and calmed you down and-
You suddenly felt a foot nudge you underneath the table. You looked up to see Remus giving you a confused glance. “Are you alright. You looked a bit lost in thought.” You nodded and played with the food on your plate to avoid any further questions. That, of course, didn’t work. “Were you thinking about someone special?” Sirius questioned while wiggling his eyebrows. James quickly perked up at that, “You did that during defense against the dark arts too!”
Shit. This was not how the hottest couple at Hogwarts was going to find out about your insane crush on all three of them. You didn’t think you could handle the embarrassment of being rejected not once, not twice, but three times in one day. In order to preserve your pride and avoid spilling your secret, you quickly stood up from the table while making some shitty excuse about how you suddenly weren’t feeling well. You rushed to the Gryffindor common room without so much as a glance back at their table. You made it to the portrait of the Fat Lady without hearing any footsteps behind you. Once inside the common room, you rushed into your dorm and decided that you would lay there for the rest of eternity, simple enough, right? Ok maybe that was a bit dramatic, but you really didn’t want to risk running into one of the boys and accidentally confessing, and ruining and chance of a friendship you had with them.
After what felt like hours of laying on your bed, you decided to risk going out to the common room and reading a book by the fire. It was dangerous of course, as the marauders could be lurking anywhere, but the prospect of being cozy while reading was simply to desirable to pass up. When you got the the couches, you quickly plopped down and made yourself comfortable. You opened your book, and started to read.
You weren’t sure how long you had been reading for, but a long while later, you heard the oh so familiar voices of James, Sirius, and Remus walk down the stairs from their dormitory. You froze on the couch, hoping that they would simply waltz through the room and leave. They wouldn’t be able to see you if you stayed completely still right? You were positive your theory was going to be proven correct when something seemed to catch Remus’ attention. He turned and looked directly where you were sitting. “Y/n? What are you still doing up, we tried knocking on your dorm door just now, but we assumed you’d forgotten about our plans and fell asleep.” Oh no. You had forgotten James’ invitation to sneak around with them today. Now you were going to be with the boys all night. What could go wrong?
