Adra - 22 - He/Him This is the blog formerly known as summertime-sigils. My interests have expanded, and so will what I post about. I am a witch and pagan just trying to survive my final year of college during the Plague Times. I'm neurodivergent and this blog will update sporadically at best for the foreseeable future. I hope you'll stick around nonetheless! No Nazis. No TERFs. No bigots. Go away.

FYI there's a blog run by a terf that claims to be run by me, is using my deadname as its url, and lists my main blog, two of my sideblogs, and my twitter in its description. While it doesn't list this blog, it has stolen and reposted sigils I've posted here, so I'm sure its only a matter of time. Pic of that below the cut, CW for transphobia.
I have no association with the blog "emmarege" and am frankly fucking disgusted by it.

I was asked to make a tutorial on how I make my felted Yule goat ornaments!
Optional is stuffing herbs crystals etc inside the goat for extra oomph!
Step 1: make you guide out of cardboard or sturdy paper. Step 2: Lay on piece of doubled felt and cut along outline. Step 3 tie a knot on end of embroidery floss and pull through one side right at the neck. Step 4: not really a step, the side where the knot is will be the inside of the Yule goat to hide the knot. Step 5: bring both side together and use a whip stitch to loop along the edges from the neck forward and all along there whole thing until just past the tail. Step 6: leave enough room to put stuffing in the goat using a chopstick, wooden skewer etc. Step 7: once it is full of stuffing, finish sewing up the back to your first knot and tie off a knot to keep it from unraveling. Step 8: (optional) if you have enough excess, wrap the remaining floss around the neck until you have a just enough to tie a little bow. This wrapping helps hide your knots if they didn’t quite get finished correctly. Cut off excess and decorate your knew body with ribbon trim etc

Just from personal experience in addition to the fire safety part: wax that is on fire must be treated the same way as a grease fire. That means, if it gets out of control, DO NOT POUR WATER ON IT. If a candle fire gets out of control, find something to smother it with.
Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Practicing
Chakras are part of closed practices. Find a different theory on energy centres and how they work. I have my own here but there are many more that exist.
Do your research. Question everything. Don’t follow Tumblr posts blindly. Do your research, make sure that research is credible. Some authors out there are shitty (Edred Thorsson for example). Some Etsy shop owners appropriate. Do your research.
Support minority businesses! Support local businesses!
The best basic herbs to have on hand are: sage, rosemary, cinnamon, thyme, lavender, sea salt.
For the love of the gods, please ward. The first time you ward, you will most likely sleep upwards of 10+ hours because it is draining as hell but WARD. Wards will keep you safe from entities that seek to harm you.
ALWAYS have a good banishing spell and a good return to sender spell on hand if you need it. Here is Part 1 of a good masterpost on protections and warding.
Always be a skeptic. Don’t just believe things blindly. Is a god telling you they’re an actual god? Question them. Do your research on that god. Always question.
DO NOT INGEST ESSENTIAL OILS. They’re meant to be applied topically with a carrier oil. Don’t ingest them.
Some herbs will interact with your medication if you’re on them. If you’re on medication and want to try herbal remedies, talk to your doctor to make sure that your herbal remedy won’t negatively interact with your medication.
Tarot cards don’t need to be gifted or stolen in order to work. That’s a myth. However, if you feel like you’d like your tarot decks to be gifted to you, do that. Whatever you’re comfortable with.
Your first tarot deck doesn’t have to be explicitly Raider Waite Smith. My first deck was a variation on the traditional RWS style and it allowed me to read tarot more intuitively.
There’s no shame in using a tarot guidebook. There’s 78 cards that’s a LOT to memorize. I haven’t memorized them all and I’ve been reading tarot for two years now. Take your time and don’t be embarrassed to read tarot from a guidebook. I do paid tarot readings and still use my guidebooks.
If you’re worried about wasting food as an offering, it’s okay to eat them. I do it. Many others do it. If you’re still wary about eating the food, if you have plant friends, you can just bury the offerings (especially relevant for chthonic worshippers).
The Theoi website is one of the best for information on Hellenism. Every thing written on that website is cited back to an Ancient Greek text, or even several.
PLEASE PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY. If you’re burning an object in a metal bowl, don’t touch the bowl afterwards. You may burn yourself. Have something to put out a fire on hand should something happen. Don’t burn hair. Crack a window so you don’t inhale smoke. Be safe with fire.
Personalize your spells! If you find a spell on tumblr that you wanna try but don’t have an ingredient, go with your instinct and research what it could be replaced with! Tumblr spells are guidelines and you can modify that shit to your heart’s content.

Hi, I'm a baby witch and was wondering if you had any previous posts explaining how sigils work and how to apply them to yourself/your home. But I gotta do it pretty discreetly because I'm living with a not-so-open-minded but not-closed-minded roomie
I do have a pretty old post (link), but the long and short of how they work is that they are images representing a statement of intent. When you want that intent to come to pass, you copy them over and then you charge them, giving them power. There’s a lot of different methods of charging sigils (see the link) but some are decidedly more discreet than others.
My personal favorite method, which can be discreet, is to draw them on my body. The flow of blood under the sigils will charge them. Some people say to draw on pulse points, I’d say drawing over any major vein or artery would work, or even over your heart. I draw them down my forearm and it hasn’t failed me yet, and since it’s getting to be winter here in the northern hemisphere, that’s pretty discreet since I’m usually wearing no less than two layers of long sleeves.
As for applying them to your house, I feel like the most discreet thing you could do is to keep them in your room, but specify in the intent of the sigil that you wish for the statement to impact the whole home. When you go to sleep, leave them to charge in moonlight on your windowsil. Another thing I’ve experimented with is taping sigils to the back of my door and letting the opening and closing of it charge the sigil (I have a bad habit of slamming doors accidentally).
While I was writing that, I realized you might be talking about a college roommate where you’re in the same room together. For that, I might recommend specifying that you’re talking about your dorm/your room in the intent of the sigil and then charging them under the faucet in a bathroom.
If you’re worried about getting caught, you don’t have to keep the sigils around once they’re charged. Once they’ve been charged, the intent and magic is out there. If you think the magic needs a refresh, make a new copy and charge it again. I hope this makes sense! Please shoot me any follow up questions.

“Selfishness Backfires Badly”
Draw this sigil on a picture of your target and have it hang on a thin string somewhere  *Can be on a string taped to the top of a box or something, as long as it isn’t touching the bottom of the box

Hey, if you’re still doing sigils could you please do one for “my body’s hair falls off” Thank you!
I’m gonna tweak the wording a bit but yes, up in a few
Sigil requests are technically closed but I’m procrastinating on studying so you’re in luck!
