Azula of the Fire Nation, monster child
a/n: ...I may have binge watched atla and i just couldn’t get this out of my head
growing up, azula had to stand next to her mother all the time because she was a girl and had to learn how to behave properly
her mother would do a certain hair style everyday for her
“i love your hair” her mother would say, smiling at her
those were their moments, no one else’s
outside that room, it was different
she had to keep her clothes clean, otherwise her mother would be mad and furiously clean it while scowling at the girl
“young lady, you shouldn’t run around, it will ruin your shoes!”
“young lady, be grateful for the gifts you receive!”
“young lady, don’t talk about your uncle like that!”
azula hated when she was scolded, she hated to see her mother frown at her
she hated it more when she realized ursa never scolded zuko
so she decided she would best him in everything
she already had father’s love, maybe then she’d have her mother’s
but it didn’t matter
she kept her hair done
her clothes clean
her manners impeccable
and her mind sharp
but it didn’t matter
so she became bitter
ursa preferred zuko? she’s humiliate him until everyone realized the golden boy was useless
her father seemed to agree
and then... ursa disappeared into the night
azula teased zuko about it, saying that it was because of him
zuko was alone
azula wondered if it wasn’t a little because of her too
she still acted the way ursa taught her to... maybe she didn’t even realized that
but deep down, my dear reader, i assure you that it was because she wanted a small part of her mother to still be with her
which led her to li and lo
they were known for being strict, strict enough to forge a weapon as beautiful as it was lethal
strict enough for azula
the forms they taught her were challenging, but how to keep her hair in place was the most difficult thing ever
“i love your hair” her mother would say
azula would smile at her then
during training, she wished to rip her hair apart
azula refused to rest until everything was perfect
but was anything really like that?
zuko was banished
her father did that
she smiled
mai left some time after to the colonies
she shrugged
ty lee decided to follow a career that wasn’t fit for noblewomen
she rolled her eyes
she was alone
she wanted to scream
so she went to have her hair brushed
she wanted to burn down the palace
so she went to fix her armor
she wanted to run into her father’s arms and feel the love he had for her (nonsense)
so she learned how to make lighting from her own fingertips
funny how li and lo praised her for it
“you have to have a clear mind to be able to summon something as powerful as a lightning” is what they said
yet her mind hasn’t been clean and focused since the day her mother left
she needed a purpose
her father gave her one
she went after zuko and general iroh
when they escaped because the captain of the ship had ONE job and wasn’t able to do it properly, she went after the ones who did know how to work the right way
mai wanted action
ty lee wanted attention
right?
it wasn’t hard to manipulate and control people
she had the dai lee
she had her friends
she killed the avatar
she conquered ba sing see
she had her brother back
she was actually happy...
azula teased zuko mercilessly while he was on the fire nation, it was her way of showing her love
growing up, before she turned into a little monster, she actually spend a lot of time with zuko and enjoyed his company
he was her big brother
but they grew apart...
zuko was supposed to be a warrior
azula was taught by her mother to be a lady
ember island was a safe place
they could be kids
and, now, teenagers
but zuko left again
mai betrayed her
worse... ty lee betrayed her
ty lee was always the one she went for to speak her mind
ty lee was the one who didn’t expect azula to be perfect
ty lee was her best friend
ty lee betrayed her
she was alone again
better this way
right?
when she found the gaang on the western air temple she was thrown into a free fall
she felt like a bird
free
she could just keep falling and then everything would end
no more perfect hair
no more clean clothes
no more treasons
no more monster child
she let her hair down the way she only does when no one is looking, the way that was her own
and she didn’t want to tie it up ever again
when her father said she was to become the new fire lord she knew it meant she could do whatever she wished to do to her nation
she wanted the day of her coronation to be as perfect as she was taught to be
“young ladies have impeccable hygiene”
so she wanted to be clean
“young ladies eat the best fruits”
so no fruits were to have any seeds for her to choke
“young ladies must follow strong men”
but who follows strong women? she couldn’t trust anyone
“young ladies must be beautiful in every situation”
yet the maids couldn’t do her hair like her mother did... not even azula could do it like ursa
“i’ve always loved your hair”
mom?
no
she left
they all did
she did
she gave up
she’d see the world burn

He loves me (Part 7.5) - mall adventure
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
a/n: I don’t actually know if this part adds anything to the story itself but I felt like they deserved to have this little friendship moment and I think I’m starting to like Ren a little bit too much…
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7
The local mall was a know place between teenagers to hang out, being avoided by older people on Fridays for the sake of their mental health. Which never actually made sense.
It had the default mall look, which consists in white and glass everywhere. The stores were anyone’s favorite part, especially capitalism’s, because they were so colorful, or colorless (Hot Topic says hi), filled with products you didn’t need but you certainly wanted and would, usually, deny those wants, but with a Naomi by your side, wanting to try on clothes and taste sweets, it was hard.
Which is how the four of you found yourselves at the first clothing store.
“(Y/N)! COME LOOK AT THIS” yelled Naomi, your local rich kid, at a nearby rack.
You walked up to her slowly, looking around to see if you liked something, and, as you looked behind you to make a comment to Keigo about a shirt with a funny quote, you realized both boys were no where in sight. Did they really leave you to deal with Naomi’s shopping spree alone?
“(Y/N)!” Said girl got to you and was dragging you to see some other rack. “Look! I need a new shirt” you highly doubted that “and these are from the newest collection! Aren’t they beautiful?”
As you were about to answer, she started to talk about the details of said collection, the material, how it was sewed, which color she thought would look good with a certain look and you did your best to listen, sometimes voicing your opinion about a certain piece, when you saw something in the corner of your eye.
Keigo was standing there, a feet or so away from you guys, walking towards you with a bright smile, wearing a flowery red hat, a striped lime green dress and jeans with a bright blue belt. Talk about 2000’s Disney. And honestly? He looked goofy, which made you laugh and him to grin at the way your laugh was so loud.
Naomi, confused, searched what caused your sudden outburst and she wasn’t disappointed, joining you and holding her stomach after a few seconds. Keigo looked satisfied with both of your reactions and started to pose for you.
“Oh my, I know, I know, I am too beautiful for your eyes and being blessed like this causes you to be filled with joy!” He said, duck pouting, with a hand behind his head and the other on his waist.
“Oh definitely, oh great fashionista” you managed to say between laughs “And what a great honor would it be if you thought me your ways”
“Hell to the no” suddenly Naomi was serious “As much as it is a good laugh I wouldn’t let you be fooled by the harlequin. And by the way… where is Ren?”
“You mean my most wonderful helper?” “Please, Keigo, the boy is too wonderful to be led into that path” pleaded Naomi.
“I see you have little faith in me Naomi” Ren murmured from behind Keigo, having been obscured by his wings. He was wearing his normal clothes.
“Ren! What are you doing with those clothes? I though you were on my side” Keigo made a pleading face, with a bout and wide eyes, resulting in a pink cheeked Ren that refused to look at him.
“Even if you are my friend, your taste is terrible” he answered, his hand covering his mouth and eyes still looking away from the giant bird man, whose pout increased.
“HA! I knew Ren was better than that!” Naomi went to Ren’s side and put her arm on his shoulder “Therefore, he’ll be my helper”
“Helper?” The other three asked.
“Yes, we’ll do a little fashion show here” the spoiled girl smiled in a way that was both beautiful and scary.
After looking through the whole store and pilling up mountains and mountains of clothing, Naomi was satisfied and gave the green light for your fashion show. Yet, even with her guidance, Keigo still insisted on adding a few of his touches to her looks or went with a combination that was completely bizarre, resulting in screams from a scandalous Naomi and laughs from you and Ren. The boy actually knew a lot about fashion too and was telling you about the color he thought would suit you and how to wear a certain outfit.
And when the time for the last outfit came, your phones were full of silly pictures of the four of you in the most outrageous outfits and funny faces, but, on that last outfit, Keigo decided to ignore Naomi and Ren decided to spread his wings a little. It took your breath away, even if the clothes themselves were ‘simple’.
Keigo was wearing a grey shirt with black jeans and black snickers with white details. But what made the outfit more special were the accessories. On one arm, he had two metal bracelets, one designed as a chain and the other as a wing, a watch with a red bird in it in, a ring on his index finger with what also reminded you of a pair of wings closing together; on the other arm was a reddish leather bracelet. And, around his neck, two chains, the one shaped as a wing dangling. He looked good and he knew it, smirking to the mirror, his eyes met yours.
You didn’t think much of the outfit chosen for you, you simply liked it because you felt it went with your personality and were surprised with how comfortable it was. When your (e/c) eyes met golden ones, Keigo’s smirk vanished, his mouth slightly agape and eyes warm. (A/n: I didn’t describe a proper outfit for you because maybe what I think is beautiful and nice may not be the thing you’d go for, so, if you want, I’d like to know what outfit you’d choose! So, please, comment!)
You were in a trance broken only by the sound of Naomi finding the outfit of her dreams, apparently. She wore a black see-through shirt, with a black piece that reminded you of a triangular bikini, light brown velvet skirt, high heeled black boots and a crystal necklace. She spun around and smiled as bright as the sun, probably already planing places to go with the outfit and, as she looked at you, it became clear that she was including you in those plans. She was a comforting force in the middle of her own caos sometimes.
“My my, don’t you look dashing, darlin’?” Her kind smile soon turned into a mischievous one as she looked at your best friend “Don’t you think she looks dashing, Keigo?”
“How about you, Naomi? Don’t you think Ren looks dashing?” He replied without missing a beat. It made your heart hurt a little when you realized he avoided her question about you.
And as none of you girls had noticed, Ren had gotten out of the fitting room. As you recently discovered, he liked to look good. You were used to him hiding in the uniform, shoulders tense, waiting for unwanted attention, and head hung low. But this Ren? He was standing tall, looking you all in the eyes, still a little bit pink, but expecting to hear your opinions. He knew what he was doing when he choose a black crop top that had a circular zipper, brown pants held by a black belt with some chains on the side (wait… was he secretly an e-boy???) and a pair of white sneakers. It was the first time you saw Naomi at a loss of words, so you offered your own.
“You’re looking sharp, Ren… and I bet Naomi totally agrees with me” said girl was looking like a fish out of water, but, at least, she nodded.
You expected Ren to turn red, like he always did when receiving a compliment, yet he surprised you once more and grinned widely, boy even dared to wink at you!
“Thanks, (y/n)-chan, it seems like you listened to me about the (f/c), it really suits you” ok, who was this Ren?
“Woah, kid, didn’t know you could wink and thank you” you replied and he laughed.
“I guess I can? I don’t know, but, sometimes, the right armor can help you through the day” as he shrugged, a little more tense, you noticed something: the uniform was a weight for him, one he carried and didn’t want to. Maybe it was something at home, maybe it was on his own mind, but, right in that moment, he was vulnerable, showing a little piece of himself he was sure about, maybe even proud of. And so were you.
“Well, good to know I won’t need to ask Naomi for fashion advise anymore, all she does is yell at me” Keigo said nonchalantly.
“And I know that if you are not buying that, Ren, I am. It will be a gift” Naomi said, coming out of her trance.
“O-oh, thanks Naomi-chan, but you don’t need to buy me a gift” shy Ren is back.
“Oh, love, seeing you in that outfit is a gift for me” Naomi winked at him, her Cheshire smile at full force, and the effects were immediate as Ren turned a deep red.
When you got out of that store, two hours had gone by and you still had so much ground to cover. So you and Keigo made a deal: if your group was to enter another clothing store, you two were going to leave Naomi and Ren there and go somewhere else.
You left them behind three times and, on those three times, both teens went out of the stores in a hurry, yelling when they wouldn’t find you, about 30 minutes after you left them.
During those escapades, you and your blonde friend went to a videogame store, talked about videogames you knew and liked and heard Keigo talk enthusiastically about his favorite ones. You also went to a library, discussing book plots, characters and authors. And finally to a restaurant, as the sun was going down and your hunger grew. Your last destination pleased Naomi because ‘spending money leaves an empty space on your wallet and stomach’.
The place was little and full, the air filled with a characteristic smell of fryed food and chatter. The table you were sitting at was square and grey, with a flower vase filled with lavenders and some napkins.
As usual, you talked about school, training and rising superheroes, but also about tv series, comic books and gossips.
“And how about that mysterious friend of yours, (y/n)-chan? How is he and when are we meeting?” Naomi chirped. Keigo turned serious at the mention of Touya.
“Ah… that is… a childhood friend, we talked about how he had been doing in those years we’ve been apart and… well he is a little… shy. I don’t think he’d like to meet you guys right away you answered.
“I’m shy and I was forced to meet you all right away” Ren murmured
“That’s because you are a cutie” Naomi send a wink his way for the second time that day. “This ‘childhood friend’ is more like ‘(y/n) personal secret’, we won’t learn anything unless we force her to speak or follow them around and discovered something dark” she wiggled her fingers like some people do when telling a horror story.
“I think he is suspicious (Naomi: “Ohhhh is a he then? Is he single? I mean, do he likes girls and is single?”/ you: “I… don’t know, I’ll ask him another time”) aham excuse me, I am talking. Like I said, he is kinda suspicious, because, I mean, he appeared out of nowhere and was standing there in front of our school like a creep. People change along the years, maybe you shouldn’t be alone with him or trust him right away” The blond huffed as he crossed his arms and slacked his posture, pouting like a baby whose favorite candy was denied.
You sighed.
“I can’t deny he is a completely different person now… but he is also my first friend. Somewhere, in his heart, he still has some of the qualities engraved on my memories, I know that” you answered, more to yourself than to your friends, hoping your words were true.
When you returned home, it was already night.
As you lied down to sleep, you looked outside your window, hoping the stars could answer your prayers, that they could confirm that your future would be good.

He loves me (Part 7)
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
a/n: pleaaaaseeeee give me a feedback
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6
Touya didn’t tell you he killed someone and obviously didn’t tell he enjoyed it. In fact, in the last few months he turned into a sort of psycho, for the lack of better words, staying awake in the dead of night, waiting for someone to make the wrong move, or what he would judge as the wrong move. He’d light up the city’s night.
He honestly didn’t know what led him back to his home city. He didn’t know why he went after you, but damn did he miss you. Seeing you made him imagine what kind of life he’d have beside you. He just couldn’t tell if, now, it would be enough.
You hung into his every word, looking at him with wide eyes, wanting to hug him until the end of times, as if it would sooth the pain, the hunger, the anger he has been through. But you just stayed frozen, your brain trying to comprehend a life so different from your own.
Soon, the sun was setting and you moved from the cafe to a diner near by, talking through food and dessert. A message long send to your school friends, telling them you were sorry, that you met an old friend and that you would make it up to them another time.
At one point, your subjects got lighter and your laughs were heard in every corner of the restaurant, earning some glares from some families’ Karens. You couldn’t care less, Touya was here again.
In the end of the night, you walked towards your house, reluctant to say goodbye, trying to convince Touya to spend the night at your home. He refused, parting ways with a kiss to your cheek.
You smiled the whole night, even while you slept.
When you woke up, you felt like you were floating, slightly afraid that it was all a dream, but trying to feel giddy for a few moments more.
“It seems like you had a good day at the mall yesterday” yelled your father somewhere in the house.
“You have no idea!” You answered, walking through the door.
And what a beautiful day it was! the sky seemed brighter, the plants on the way to school seemed more alive and nothing could ruin your day!
But goddamn did U.A. have a way of tiring your joy out.
You could take math class, boring, but nothing that wouldn’t be solved through passing notes to your friends with day to day subjects. Wrong, I know, but at least you weren’t sleeping in class!
You could take languages classes, history, geography, anything, except training.
Actually, you liked it, the thrill, the adrenaline, seeing the results of your efforts. You just wanted to sleep for a very, very long time afterwards, a massage would be welcomed too.
That day, Keigo made sure you were his sparing partner.
“So… who was that person you left us for?”
“That was ahm an old friend. He was passing by the city and wanted to say hi” you didn’t know if you should say his name or what name to use. Was he even using his own name after all these years?
“It’s a ‘he’ them?”
“Keigo, is that jealousy I hear?” “pfffff as if I, the handsome and fearless, Takami Keigo, would be jealous of you”
“Ohhhhhh so you’re saying I’m not worthy of you, oh mighty bird?”
Keigo opened his mouth to answer you, but you two got your teachers attention.
“Takami! (L/n)! Stop talking and start training!”
“SORRY SENSEI” You both yelled at the same time.
You started circling each other, Keigo’s wings spreading themselves, waiting to strike while you bent your knees and kept your hands in front of your body, ready to fry chicken.
“I bet you’re going to trip and fall face first before you even say ‘Keigo, you are the most perfect man ever’”
“I bet you choke on your own saliva from talking too much and die before you can even meet your darling Endeavor”
“Well, I bet-“
“IF I GO NEAR YOU AND HEAR YOU TALKING I AM EXPELLING YOU BOTH”
“SORRY SENSEI”
You both, finally, shut up and ran towards the other.
Knowing Keigo would probably take flight for the sake of being in his element, you jumped.
As predicted, when he was close to you, his wings opened to their full extent. As he was getting off ground, you took hold of his shoulders, impulsing yourself with them, spinning your body over his head and using your knees to hit him in the back, doing a backflip to get away from him and see him stumbling.
“Remind me again who was going to trip and fall on their faces?”
With an outraged cry, he lunched himself towards you once again. You simply waved at him and used your quirk to teleport behind him, hitting his right side with your leg.
This time, he was more prepared, holding his arms up in defense and twisting it to hold your leg. In turn, you twisted your body and tried to hit him with your other leg, when he also blocked that, you teleported again.
After training, lunchtime was more than welcomed.
“Damn it, (y/n), did you have to go that hard on training?” Keigo asked while rubbing his side.
“Sowy” you answered with your mouth full of (favorite food). The food being a reward for all the hard work you put into burning calories by punching and kicking and making a fool out of your best friend.
“Ladylike as always, I see” Ren commented as he sat down next to Keigo, who was sitting in front of you. You turned to smile at him after swallowing the food.
“We missed those manners of yours yesterday, ya know?” Naomi pouted at you as she settled at your side.
“Yeah, sorry about that… I just…” you looked down. You did want to go out with them, but Touya…
“*sigh* It’s okay, we were planning on going out again today so you could go with us” Naomi could be a free spirit, a social butterfly, but what you liked about her the most was how understanding she was.
“We were? When did we ‘plan’ that?” Ren looked baffled.
“Yeah, (y/n) we understand that things happen, but we are here for you and we are going to spend time together, one day or another. If you don’t have anything, can be today, like Naomi said”
“You guys really are going to ignore me, aren’t you?”
You smiled. Your friends were truly wonderful.
“Sure, I’d like that”
“Good to know my opinion counts so much in this group” Ren muttered. The other three of you laughing at him.
“Of course we care about what you think Ren!” Keigo said putting his arm around the boy’s shoulder. You didn’t know if someone else noticed that his face flushed a light pink. Maybe Ren didn’t like being that close too people? Or did he like it way more than you thought? Or was it only with Keigo?
“Yeah, so, this time, you can tell us if you wish to go to the mall with us or be dragged to the mall by us. You got the options” Naomi chirped at him, leaning closer to his face. He turned deep red this time.
“This sound very much like a tyranny…”
And to the mall you shall go.
Once more, the four of you left the building at the end of the school day, Naomi telling you the latest celebrities gossips she read, something about how her favorite model (Mitsuki Bakuwent, or something, you think) had talked about her son for the first time to the press. The boy was apparently an angel, according to Naomi.
A little bit down the street, you turned to were you saw Touya yesterday and noticed how he was standing there once again, which made you stop on your tracks… again, much to someone else’s disdain.
“Nope, not again, if you need to talk more you with that friend of yours you exchange number or new addresses, but today you’re going with us” You felt someone taking a hold of your arm and saw a determinate Keigo.
“Old friend or not, (y/n), I want your attention too” he whispered in your ear when the two of you were far from where you saw Touya.
A chill ran down your spine.

He loves me (Part 6)
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
a/n: I hate Endeavor. I know he is trying to change, but in the point of his life shown in this fanfic, I hate him. I’ll decide what I think of his character development later.
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5
When you don’t have a home, you sell your soul to survive.
When you don’t have a house, you sell your mind to survive.
Touya sold both.
When Fuyumi was 4, her quirk started to show and Enji went to train her, completely ignoring Touya from that moment on. The young boy, age 8, would yell at his father and try to hold him back, anything to keep him from hurting his little sister. It didn’t work.
Fuyumi would leave the training room with small cuts and patches of red skin, yet Touya never saw her cry.
Rei was in pieces. She also tried to convince her husband to quit his idea, to no avail. Afterwords, she could be found in her room, crying. Touya and Fuyumi would hug her quietly, never asking what was said, they knew she fought for them… and she lost every battle.
Apparently Fuyumi also wasn’t enough for their father, and, not long after, their mother was pregnant once more. The young Todoroki girl was excited about a new sibling, her older brother was grim.
Natsuo was born on a summer day, as if bringing a wintery touch to it. He was the one that resembled their mother the most, which was enough to make the protective fire inside Touya’s heart burn stronger. Him and Fuyumi didn’t leave his side in the first 4 years of his life, then it was the same thing all over again: train, get hurt, see their mother hurt, receive the news they’d have a new sibling.
Every 4 years. Always 4 years. It was the time it took to their quirks to appear, and none had satiated Todoroki Enji’s hunger for power. During that time, Rei got weaker and weaker.
It started with her not wanting to leave her room.
Every time she saw one of her kids she’d smile, Fuyumi and Natsuo never suspected a thing, but Touya saw it all. When they wouldn’t be looking, her smile would vanish completely, she’d look at something no one could see and stare at it as if it was the only reason she was alive. Then, she decided she wanted to spend the whole day in bed. She didn’t eat that day and when one of the maids went to try and talk her out, she started to yell at the poor woman. Touya took his siblings to the inside garden to play. The maid was fired.
Then, she wanted to cook and clean. Rei spent hours cleaning dust no one could see or cooking mesmerizing and complicated meals. Her kids eager to eat it all, anything to spend time with their mother and see her smile. But it became too much, the time came when they couldn’t eat everything, yet Rei kept cooking, dish after dish.
Touya and his siblings went to give the spare food no one wanted to the homeless men and women they’d see on the street.
The funny thing, though, was how their mother never seemed to eat the food she made herself, saying that it wasn’t time for her to eat yet. She got thinner as time went by.
A few months passed and she couldn’t sleep. Touya woke up to see her walking around the house like a ghost. He didn’t know when was the last time she saw the sun. Every time she talked about it, she’d say she had a nightmare, so he gave up and simply decided to walk with her in silence.
Weeks after and all she wanted was too sleep, saying it she’d be better if she slept and slept.
She stopped smiling when she got pregnant once again.
It was going to be another boy. At least that’s what the head maid told them. They didn’t see their mother in those 9 months. Not even once.
Shoto was a healthy boy, a cute little baby with duo colored eyes and hair. When Touya saw him, he felt just like he felt towards any of his siblings, chest full of love and the desire to protect him. His mother gave a tired smile to them and he couldn’t help but feel a little bit hopeful about her state. His father wasn’t home that day.
But he never got the chance to see his younger brother grow up close. He ran away when he was 12 and Shoto was only a few months old.
The week before it, he heard his parent argue once again. He didn’t know what it was about, all he wanted was for them to stop. Shoto was in the room, crying, and he saw Fuyumi and Natsuo at the end of the hall, hugging each other, tears silently streaming down. He wanted to do something.
You see, his father was cruel, he trained all his children to a point beyond exhaustion, he had hit his wife and verbally abused her and probably went against her will when he decided he wanted a kid and then another. His kids didn’t know all of that, but they knew they feared and maybe, in Touya’s case at least, even hated him. That’s why, when the eldest son saw their mother wither, he decided he had to do something, he couldn’t be quiet anymore.
“GET AWAY FROM HER”
Touya was 12, lanky and way shorter and weaker than his father, yet he pushed him with all his might, getting in front of his mother.
The way his father looked at him would make any villain want to hide themselves. Touya wasn’t a villain yet.
“Get out of the room Rei, we’ll talk later”
“Enji, no, please, we can talk as adults, please, don’t do anything, stop this nonsense” Rei had her hands together, begging almost on her knees, tears glistening in the room’s light as she stepped to stand at her son’s side.
“Get. Out.”
Rei didn’t move, so Enji yanked her away from Touya and pushed her out of the room, locking the door.
Touya doesn’t like talking about that day, doesn’t like thinking about it.
In the end, his father got a few burns on his arms and neck while Touya had dark purple bruises all over his body. He heard his mother screaming on the other side of the wall during the whole time he was there and as soon as Enji got out, she cleaned her son’s bruises, not looking in his eyes as she did so. He didn’t sleep that night, his body and heart ached too much, one thought echoing throughout the night. He was going to run away.
In the end, no one, but the boy himself, knew if it was suicide or an accident.
That day, after gaining the courage and organizing the stuff he would need, his mother was out with his grandparents and Shoto, his siblings were at school, Enji was working and he told his mother he didn’t want to go to school because his bruises still hurt, he wanted to stay in bed. She didn’t look him in the eyes or even answered him, only nodded her head and closed the door.
At noon, he sent all the maids and house workers out to have lunch, assuring them he’d be fine, and took a walk around the house.
He went into Fuyumi’s room, seeing all her dolls and thinking about all the times she made him and Natsuo play house.
“Touya, you are my son and Natsuo is the annoying neighbor!” She said once, a grin in her face, her pigtails bobbing as she jumped around ‘cooking dinner’.
“What? Why am I the annoying neighbor?” Natsuo pouted at the occasion, crossing his arms as he sat on the ground, protesting against his role “And who is your husband anyways? Is it that kid from your class, right?” the young boy was smiling mischievously, trying to get back at his sister for that unfair part he had to play.
“NO! I don’t need a boy to be my husband! And you being annoying about it is exactly why you’re the annoying neighbor!” She got a little red with all the anger she had as an infant, pointing a wood spoon at Natsuo.
Touya laughed so hard back then, telling Fuyumi that “Yeah! You don’t need a man!”. Now he smiled sadly at the empty room.
Next was Natsuo’s bedroom. While Fuyumi’s was full of dolls, toy cars and costumes, Natsuo’s only had sports related things, mostly baseball and basketball.
Touya’s heart clenched by thinking he wouldn’t chase Natsuo down, steal the basketball away from him or laugh as they fell and rolled on the ground, Fuyumi yelling at them for being idiots and then laying down next to them, watching the clouds as time went by.
Shoto’s room didn’t have a personality yet and Touya didn’t know if he’d ever see the colors he’d paint those walls or the toys that’d adorn the shelves. He could imagine little baby Shoto on his crib, though, looking up at the little stuffed animals that hung above it, giggling and moving his little arms and legs every time one of his sibling would put their heads in front of him.
He walked through all those memories of late night movie sessions with his siblings, of stealing sweets in the kitchen and running away from their maids afterwards, laughter echoing in the empty halls. He didn’t dare going into his parents room, going straight into his own and sitting on the bed, looking at everything that made the room his.
He got up after a minute of two and went to his closet where a backpack with some of his clothes and a picture of his family (without Enji) was.
And he set the house on fire.
In the first couple of months he was alone, Touya would steel whatever he needed, food, hair dye, clothes and a blanket. He was almost caught more than once, never staying too close to his old home and moving every other day to another part of town until he decided that a change of cities would be good too.
He heard about his ‘death’. His school friends and family went to his funeral and his father didn’t want to make a statement to any newspaper. He didn’t stop to think about how they felt about it, he didn’t even think about how he felt about it and kept telling himself that when he had the condition he’d go back to them.
So he got a job on a market, on a Starbucks and as a drug dealer, not at the same time, though.
He figured he liked being a drug dealer the most, it was exciting, having to meet people and try not to be suspicious, getting to know people that didn’t have a care in the world and having someone to look after him.
No one forced him to do drugs, they actually told him not to, he was young after all, but every other time, when no one was seeing, he’d do it, just a little, and he discovered it made him feel like he had no problems, no pain. It was great.
But what he actually loved? Getting into trouble. The feeling of hitting someone was exhilarating, it made him feel alive.
All on short moments.
Drugs’ effects only last for so long, and he knew he did not want to become dependent on those chemicals, or so he told himself every time before going back to do another drug.
Punching someone only took a second and once he was done it was unlikely to see those people again and even if they came back for ‘revenge’ and had their way with him, they’d leave.
Yet he kept with that lifestyle for 2 years and he could have kept it for longer, knowing he was on the wrong side of life, knowing he wasn’t helping his family like this, knowing he was growing addicted, not only on drugs, but on violence, on the natural adrenaline of running away or towards problem and he didn’t care. Not until he killed someone.
He tried to use his quirk only when he truly needed it, only when the night was too cold to be shielded by a stolen and thin blanket, the small scars he got on his arms a reminder of how dangerous they could be if he let loose, how alike his father it was, the ability to hurt. But that night was different.
Touya was just walking down the street. It was too late or too early, but for someone who didn’t have a place to be or a future to achieve it was another time of the day. And he heard it. A woman screaming at a men, telling him to let her go, to go away from her and out of her life. Touya couldn’t hear what the man was saying, but the fear in the woman’s eyes were all too familiar to him. So he went after them.
In the dark alley the man dragged the woman to (because it is always an alley), he got near them, not minding if he made too much noise or not. When he got close enough to the couple, he said in a calm voice he didn’t even expect from himself in that moment.
“Get away from her”
The man, surprised, turned to him. The woman had a red mark on her cheek, freshly made, mascara running down her face, clothes a mess and eyes pleading.
“What did you say, kid?” The man was a lowlife just by the way he was treating the woman, but his looks matched his personality. He was filthy, at least, that’s what Touya remembers.
“I said, get. Away. From. Her.” His jaw was clenched, teeth hurting from his own force, even more so when the man had the audacity to laugh in his face.
Touya’s patience wore thin.
He took a hold of the man’s arms, threw him in the ground and told the woman to run. She did without a second thought.
The man, getting up from the ground, threw himself at Touya, trying to punch him, but he wasn’t like Enji, he didn’t have a good technique and he seemed drunk, his movements completely imprecise. Yet Touya found himself growing madder.
This man was like Enji in a way, thinking he could take from the world to get what he wanted without consequences. The air grew hot around them.
In no time, Touya had the man on the ground, but he didn’t stop hitting him until he yelled in anger in the man’s face. The man himself had passed out not long after hitting the ground, but woke up with a start with Touya’s scream, not because of the loudness but because the boy had set his body on fire.
With his anger, the flames turned blue and the man’s body became nothing but dust in mere seconds or perhaps minutes or hours, he couldn’t tell, he could only watch. He took a few steps back only when he felt some of those flames in his arm, until then he had stayed close to where the man was. When he looked back at the spot after putting down the fire on his jacked (great, another scar on his arm, right above the ones he got when running away from home), realization finally hit him.
“What did I do?” He asked to no one in particular, eyes wide.
He killed a man.
And he enjoyed it.

He loves me (Part 5)
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
Previously on Part 4…
“We need to talk”
“Sure, want a coffee? I mean, do you like coffee?” By the end of the sentence, he spoke in an insecure sort of way. He didn’t know what you liked or didn’t like anymore.
“Yeah, I’m actually quite addicted to it” (if you’re not, just imagine you said something along the lines of “I actually don’t, but I can order something else” with a shrug)
You had offered him a little smile. I mean, you were mad at him for simply appearing in your life out of nowhere, but the fact that he was even a tiny bit nervous, made you let your guard down for a second, looking into the life you could have had.
The walk towards the nearest cafe was filled with glances, may it be to the guy next to you, or towards the street as he caught your fleeting stares.
As you got to your location, Touya offered to buy the drinks, as you told him what you wanted and went to sit on a table next to a window. During your time in school you grew to like windows. Maybe it was because you could contemplate the world you live in, the people walking around or running late, a nature without care and the sky guarding the everyday life. It became a calming exercise, to look out of the window for a while as if to forget whatever was happening in your life in the same time you got a glance into the lives of someone else.
In no time, Touya was in the chair in front of you, looking at the table, fidgeting, leg bouncing up and down and making the table shake slightly. You took the chance to admire the cafe.
It was a small place, owned by a very sweet, middle aged, woman. You had chatted with her once or twice and she told you it was always her dream to have a cafe decorated in a spring like way, full of pastel colors. And, even if the cafe wasn’t the way she originally wanted, it still didn’t disappoint.
The walls where of a light brown, with light bulbs dangling from the ceiling. Square tables made of dark wood where scattered around, with sugar, plastic spoons and the desserts menus over it. And with the smell of coffee constantly in the air, it had a welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Or to most people, Touya still looked like he was about to yeet throw himself out of the window.
“Honestly, I’m simply waiting for you to start explaining yourself” if the air around you was tense, them your words were the knife cutting through it, which made him slightly flinch.
“Well… you knew how that house was, all I wanted was to get away”
In a world full of powerful quirks, some people wanted to find ways to improve them and, sometimes, that could only happen in the next generation. Thus arranged weddings.
Over the years, it almost never happened anymore, but old traditions could be revived if one wanted to achieve a goal. And Todoroki Enji was an ambitious man.
He did love Rei, in a distorted way. He didn’t stop to think about her needs and, with the way she was raised, she felt like she’d only bother her hardworking husband if she were to complain or ask for something. She was blessed… right?
Maybe Enji would think differently with a child to light their worlds.
Touya was their first child. Most families would spoil their first and, at the time, only child rotten. Rei did.
She filled Touya with love. She sang all the lullabies she knew to him at night, bought him toys, took him to the park to play around when he was old enough and let him have ice cream after dinner every two days.
Enji was still distant, always working towards his goal to be the number 1 hero, no time for silly games of catch or lunchtime cartoons. No, his interest laid in the quirk his son would show.
Which happed, as usual, a little after Touya turned four.
Rei was happy that Enji finally decided to spend some time with his son… until she actually saw what he planned.
Enji wanted to see the limits of Touya’s quirk, but, again, he was only four and it hurt.
Just like his father, Touya could produce fire, but since then both his parents understood that he was more powerful than Enji’s. The flames he made where unbearable hot and that made his father momentarily satisfied with his performance, until Enji felt like there could be more. And it hurt.
It hurt because the only chance he had to be with his father was filled with yells to do better, to produce more flames, to dodge punches and kicks too harsh for a kid to handle. And that quirk, it burned down any surface it touched, including his own skin that became pink and then red with his own blood. His body was weak for his quirk, much like how his mother’s body was weaker than most people.
Two months later his mother told him he’d have a sibling.
Fuyumi was cute and so peaceful. Touya knew he’d do anything for her. The last thing he wanted was for her to be treated by their father like he was. The constant bruises on his arms, torso and legs a reminder of a reality his sister did not deserve.
Fuyumi was also the reason why he met you and for that he was thankful.
You were a little light of hope in his world. You two spent whole afternoons chasing each other, laughing to your hearts content, making up games to play and watching cartoons. When you were over, his father didn’t ask him to come and train, he could be a child for a few hours.
On one of those days, Touya was just walking around the house after you and your parents went away. For some reason, he had a feeling your mother knew the nightmare that house was and tried to come as many times as she could to their residence and bring you along. She was, by far, his favorite auntie. But you guys couldn’t stay forever and no matter how happy you made him, when you went away he was alone again, which led him to his parents yelling at each other. Or more like his father yelling at his mother and his mother hissing at his father, the most treating look in her face. He didn’t know that side of his mother.
“You think I’ll just let you keep that up? You’re hurting our son! And you think I’ll let you do the same to my daughter?” Rei asked questions, but Enji didn’t answer them correctly.
“They are MY kids and I will do as I please!” Enji’s harsh tone made Touya hug himself and wait for a punch or kick, just like in training.
“You are forgetting they are MY kids too! And whatever stupid goal you have it isn’t worth-“ Rei’s voice was getting higher, something Touya never heard before, but she was cut short, a deafening sound ringing in his ears. As he opened his eyes, which he didn’t even realize he had closed, he saw his mother’s head turned, his father’s hand still raised in the air.
“You don’t get to say that, you don’t get to decide what to do. I’ve worked harder than anyone else, and this kids are my last hope. If Fuyumi turns out to be a disappointment, such as her brother, I expect you in our room, obeying silently” Enji’s voice was low and Touya could feel the room’s temperature rising.
As Enji passed through him in the hall, he didn’t even acknowledge his son’s presence. Touya ran to his mother, hugging her as she cried.
He hated Todoroki Enji more than anything else in the world. He wanted to see him burning.
Yes, you knew about the life in the Todoroki household, but you only came to know about it a year after Touya disappeared, you were 12 when he ‘died’ and 13 when your mother thought you could understand, even if only a little, how the world can be hell even to the most pure and beautiful angels.
“And why didn’t you come to me and my family? Why now?” You had felt so alone. Touya was an important part of your childhood, your life, he was the kid that didn’t judge your crazy ideas, the kid that had the best sense of humor, the sweetest boy. But looking in his eyes you realized that, back then, he was holding on to protect Fuyumi and Natsuo, and even Shoto who was just a newborn then. Now, he was completely broken. Maybe you could repair him.
“If I were to be with your family my father would come after me and take me away. To do that, he’d probably threaten your parents’ job… I couldn’t risk that” he talked mostly to his hand. Where was all that cocky behavior he showed just now? A mask. That’s what it was.
It was like someone stabbed your heart, just a little bit. He thought of your parents, how, even if Enji was the worst boss ever, the job was good, payed the bills, put food on your table. He ran away into an unknown world at the age of 12, alone, without a word, after suffering his whole life and he didn’t ask for help as to not compromise your parents. Someone stabbed you in the heart and twisted the knife. Maybe that someone was cupid, trying to gain your attention, while you heard your long lost friend starting to tell you how he suffered and making you stupidly feel full of… emotions for him.
You were staring, wide eyed at him, so he cleared his throat to continue.
“I thought the only chance I had to get away was to pretend I was dead. That way, the media wouldn’t come after me, my father wouldn’t. If I found someplace, if my money condition was enough, I’d come back for my siblings. Take my mom out of that hospital…” his voice failed him a little. And that reminded you he was your age, only 15, his voice still changing, yet his eyes, body language and soul told you he saw and knew more than anyone you knew of your age.
“I dyed my hair black and, honestly, I liked the change” he showed that dammed smirk that made your heart race a little bit. “The piercing were just something I got a liking to. I also tried to used contacts to change my eye color, sometimes, when I look in the mirror, is like im starring at him” His voice got so small in the end, you knew if there were more people in the cafe talking, you wouldn’t hear it. “So, yeah, that didn’t work very well in the end, allergies or something. And it turns out it is kinda hard to find a job that pays me the money I need, but I haven’t given up”
“And I know is not much but I am sorry… you never deserved any of this… So I want to hear everything you went through these past 3 years, I want to be there for you now because I’m starting to understand and I want you to answer my other question: why now?”
“Because you were happy again”
Yep, that didn’t answer sh*t.
Judging by how he cleared his throat again, your face must’ve given away how confused, and slightly annoyed, you were.
“I wasn’t far, coming to the city every once in a while to check up on you and my siblings. I’ve wanted to talk to you, but I didn’t know how… and today as I saw you laughing and having fun for the first time, I guess, in a while… I didn’t want to spoil that, no matter how much I missed you…” Your heart raced, broke a little, hurt a little, it was like it was on a rollercoaster, you didn’t know if you should scream of joy or fear. “But you saw me, twice now, and I just couldn't bring myself to walk away this time, not with that beautiful laughter of yours still ringing in my ears” Touya smirking = heart failure.
Now it was your turn to clear your throat, looking at the window so he wouldn’t see you pink cheeks. He did tho.
After a deep breath, you turned to look at him once more.
“Tell me what you’ve been through, please”
It seemed like you weren’t going to meet your friends at the mall that afternoon.

He loves me (Part 4)
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
a/n: yeah, don’t know what to feel about this
(M/n) = mom’s name
(D/n) = dad’s name
I guess you guys already know the drill
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3
Previously, on ‘He loves me (Part 3)’...
“Touya?”
“Not anymore, love.”
It was like you were 4 all over again. A little kid that didn’t know what exactly was about to happen next.
Back then, your mother told you that you were going to visit an old friend of hers, a woman she used to study with. She said that the woman was very calm and elegant, quite the opposite of her husband.
“That man is hell incarnated” mumbled your father.
“And, yet, he is kind enough to let you be one of his minions right?” Your mother answered through her teeth.
You weren’t worried about what was being said, you were too busy trying not to rip your tiny dress into shreds. It was itchy.
The Todoroki household scared you a little. It was a huge place with trees around it casting shadows that, in your young mind, turned into horrendous shapes. The doorbell echoed throughout the whole street and a maid opened the gates not two seconds after. And the inside scared you more.
It was all white and the living room you were taken to had old Japanese vases and paintings, no sofa in sight, no tv, no family pictures, no mess. It seemed like the house lacked the specific warmth that made a simple construction turn into a home and it made you lose all the curiosity a child has when they go to a new place.
“Don’t worry, sweetie, you won’t be alone. The Todorokis have a boy your age. You two can become friends!” Said your mother, probably feeling how uneasy you were. The thought of a new friend made you happy again. There was a kid you could go and play with!
As you were smiling to your mother, you heard a noise coming your way. The paper doors opened and a woman holding a pile of sheets in her arms appeared, grinning widely as soon as she saw your family.
“(M/N)! (D/N)!” She, excitedly hugged your parents, careful with the pile she was holding. “It’s been too long since the last time I saw you two! And oh! Is this the little (y/n) I’ve heard so much about?” When she saw you, she crouched down to your level and looked at you directly in the eyes. “Hello, dearie, I’m Rei! But you can call me auntie, if you’d like”.
You were speechless at the sudden attention and at the woman (auntie Rei now, you guessed). Her hair looked like fresh fallen snow, stars shinning in the grey night that were her eyes, her smile as gentle as a rose petal. This woman had all the warmth that house lacked. Maybe the house was cold because that family had all the warmth they needed with each other. With a nudge from your mother, you offered a shy smile, looking at the ground and mumbling a small “Nice to meet you, auntie”, which seemed enough since auntie Rei smiled more widely as she got up.
“Well, and I guess that little doll is a human?” You heard your father ask.
“Stop being weird, (d/n), and simply ask if it is their newborn” your mother replied as she, not so gently, elbowed your father and he hissed back at her, holding his side.
“You guys haven’t changed a bit” auntie Rei laughed, the sound very much alike wind chimes. “But yes, this is our little girl, Fuyumi”.
You couldn’t see the baby because of your height, but your mother and father were cooing over her and how cute she looked. Auntie Rei, noticing that, got down to your height level once again and let you see her daughter’s face.
Fuyumi was slightly pale and had white hair, just like her mother. No, not like her mother, similar, as a second later you realized she also had some red threads growing. Her eyes were closed and she looked content in her mother’s embrace, like she knew she’d be safe in the arms of that caring woman.
“She’s cute. Can I hold her?” You wanted to know if she was like any of the dolls you had at home.
“Absolutely not, you will drop her” your mother reprehended you before auntie Rei could answer. “Anyways, where is that charming husband you have?” You couldn’t tell what it was, but when your mom described auntie Rei’s husband her tone didn’t sound sincere, but what really was odd was how auntie’s smile seemed to tremble for a second. When you blinked it was like it never happened, it must’ve been your imagination.
“He’ll be here in a moment with Touya” she sounded like a happy wife and mother, there was no way she’d be anything but content with the life she had, you thought… until her husband appeared in the room a few minutes later.
He was as huge as the trees and as wide as the mountains and it scared you the same way the house did, but it was worse. His hair immediately caught your eye. It was bright red, like Poe from telletubies. His eyes were also beautiful, blue like the spring sky, adorning his retangular face that was set in a scowl. And for some reason you just knew that he wouldn’t like if you called him uncle.
Your first instinct was to run to one of your parents side as soon as his eyes met yours, but, when you turned, you saw their heads bowed and decided you should do the same.
“Todoroki-sama, thank you for having us in your beautiful home” that was the first time you heard your father’s ‘business voice’ and so you knew that you had to keep yourself on that man’s good side.
“Hm” a man of few words that ‘Todoroki-sama’.
“D-darling? Where is Touya? I think (y/n)-chan would like someone to play with, right?” The quivering in her voice made you flinch a little. Her words didn’t lack love, it lacked the feeling of ‘being loved as much as you love’, but you didn’t noticed that. You only noticed it was wrong. And may I say, dear Reader, it feels wrong, and incredible painful, to say ‘darling’ in a way that, even quivering, was full of love and know you wouldn’t hear a ‘darling’ (or any other endearing nickname) back.
“Humpf the kid is a disaster. He’s on his way” he didn’t even look at her! He kept his arms crossed, still looking at your parents as if he wanted to see how long they would last under his gaze. You could see some sweat beads in your father’s forehead and temple, but your mother was staring firmly to the floor as if plaining a way to get herself, no, to get you safe from that man if needed. With a nod of his head, the three rose, your parents keeping their gazes on the wooden floor, while you looked around.
The tension in the room made you feel unease, lucky for you, your savior arrived.
The door opened slowly, as if the person opening it was afraid to tear its paper material if they used too much strength. And when you saw said person, you were surprised.
He looked exactly like his father. Same hair, same eyes. But he was like his mother. The way he carried himself resembled a person who’d carry a heavy backpack on their backs, his hands inside the pockets of his pants and shoulders tense, looking at the ground waiting for it to swallow him whole. And them he looked at you. You felt all the air leave your body. His eyes were like his father’s, yet they weren’t. They had his mother’s warmth, but also the pain of living in the cold of that house. You wanted to hug him.
“(Y/n)-chan, this is my son, Touya. Touya, this is (y/n)-chan, the one I’ve told you about” you didn’t look at auntie Rei, you barely heard what she said, you only wanted to know why this kid looked like he needed a hug, and if he would run if you did go for it.
“Hey. Wanna play catch?” He said with a small smile full of insecurities, looking around the room, to anywhere but you (or his father).
“Sure!” You said, stepping away from your parents, smiling brightly. You were happy as you saw his own smile grow to match yours.
“Let’s go them!”
So you followed him out of the room, into the warmth of the bright sun, the winter sky, that white smile and those blue eyes.
“What are you doing here? Where have you been? We all thought you were dead!” The ground under your feet was spinning, your breath was irregular and the world was a blur, but he was standing clearly in front of you, more vivid than anything else has ever been.
“Well, I missed seeing that pretty face of yours, so I thought ‘why not?’, ya know?” He made a disinterested gesture with his left shoulder. “Besides, you think a little fire would kill me? I was born in hell, love” for the first time, the way he talked, the way he said ‘love’, made an unpleasing chill go down your spine and a fear you didn’t know if you should feel or not to grow in your stomach.
“W-we-“ your voice trembled and you swallowed every word you wanted to scream at him, taking a deep breath as you closed your eyes. When you opened them again, there was nothing but determination in your gaze.
“We need to talk”

He loves me (Part 3)

a/n: I’m focusing in the reader and hawks’ early friendship in this one, don’t worry, next part I’ll give you some dabi *wink wink*
Part 1 - Part 2
It had been three months since classes started and you forgot why you were so scared of high school. Yeah, UA was tough, with intense physical and intelectual activities, you got home tired most of the time and your already limited time with your parents grew even more limited and you found yourself arguing with them more often, if you are tired enough on that day. You’d usually apologize through movie nights on Sunday. In the beginning no one would say anything, but, as the movie goes on, comments would be made, songs would be sang and laughs would be laughed.
You could also feel yourself becoming stronger. You liked your quirk quite a lot, it would take you and Touya away from trouble when you were little, and, nowadays, it symbolized a ticket to a good hero agency. Before UA, you could only open one portal for about 20 to 30 seconds before feeling a splitting headache that would take you close to passing out. Three months into the course, after training hard in and out of school grounds on weekdays (because even you knew rest is needed to archive a goal), you were able to open one portal for a whole minute or two portals for 30 seconds and you also had a better idea on how to use them on a battleground, teleporting and punching someone, kicking, taking your allies out of the way. But the best thing about training was seeing Keigo in action.
It turns out he wasn’t that bad.
In the time you spent together you came to the conclusion that he’d always seemed to try and give you a reason to smile. It was true that he still was convinced of his “godlike appearance and personality” and knew way too many cheesy pickup lines for his own good, but they were funny and you were getting used to it all, it became a constant form of comfort and calmness in the middle of a growing pile of undone homework and assignments. And, besides, he was genuinely a good friend, listening to complains and to what you were currently obsessing with, showing himself to be an openminded learner, as you discovered when he, willingly, let you make him watch all 8 Harry Potter movies. He was definitely a Gryffindor in your eyes.
You also learned a lot about him. I mean, nothing related to his personal life apparently, but you knew that he loves fried chicken (even if it sounded a damn lot like cannibalism to you), how he twisted his pen around his fingers when he was concentrated in an assignment, how he’d bite his lip if he had a “brilliant” idea of a place to go or something to do on a Saturday afternoon, how he’d throw his head back and put a hand on his stomach if something was truly funny to him and how he’d roll his shoulders twice and turn his head a little to the left a moment before he took flight.
Oh and how beautiful he looked when he flied.
Keigo seemed fine in any space, a true social butterfly bird, but the only moment he was truly in his element was when he was in the sky. On the ground, he’d be smirking, confident of who he was, but as he cut through the air he didn’t have to worry about who he was or what his obligations were, he’d be free from anything and everything, and that made him smile, which, in turn, would make you smile. What a beautiful friendship am I right?
Thinking about all that made you sigh.
“Good morning, princess~” another day, the same cheesy nickname he gave you.
You rolled your eyes and buried your face in your arms, letting out a frustrated scream like thing.
“Woah I can’t see you in the weekend this one time and you already missed me this much?” You weren’t looking at him, but you could imagine his infuriating smirk as clear as the day outside the classroom you were siting in… very stifled… because the chair isn’t comfortable… at all.
“Because you are the only source of happiness in my life” how could you not exaggeratedly roll your eyes?
“I know” you still hated that smirk (and how good he looked) for the record.
Another frustrated groan. “My parents spent most of Saturday away because their boss had an emergency or something and, on Sunday, they let all their frustration on me through screaming contest, very pleasing to the neighbors let me tell yah. But I also watched this really good series on Netflix about a girl who just lost her dad and discovers she has a telepathic quirk in a world where no one has quirks”
“It sounds like a really sad reality”
You give a sad laugh and look at the window and what it’s beyond it. “It does.” And for a second there, when he’s quiet for longer than the usual 2 seconds, you turn around to face him and there is something in his eyes you can’t understand, for once you don’t see him smile or smirk.
“Well, worry not, my lady, for I, Takami Keigo, swear on your mother’s cake that I’ll never let you go through anything bad alone” he made this whole really exaggerated curtesy and the smirk was back. How could you not laugh and smile heartedly?
“Thank you so much, kind sire. But where were you this weekend? And why do you swear on my mother’s cake of all things?” You question, still smiling, in your most pompous voice, but you were also worried, Keigo never missed one of your Saturdays, it was the only day your parents allowed you to have friends around or to go around.
Even with his head bowed, you saw how his expression fell a little bit. “I had something to deal with.” He sounded serious, his voice lower than you ever heard. “And your mother’s cake is the best cake ever, so I can’t bear to lose it.” With that wink, his cheerful tone was back.
“Keigo-“ “Okay, everyone, I don’t want to hear anymore giggles, whispers, gossips and jokes whatsoever. Is time for class.” As the teacher entered the classroom, interrupting any and all conversations. Keigo sat down by your side. You spent a few seconds looking at him, as if the answer to his behavior would be found in his blond hair. When he turned and caught your eye, his eyebrows making their way up and down as if he was trying to be suggestive. You gave him the finger and he laughed, you felt your cheeks become warm and you turned to try and pay attention to your first (and very boring) class of the day.
Lunch time is the best and the worst. It was too noisy for your liking on some days, but sometimes you were part of that noise, like today.
“Shut up Keigo” you were laughing so loudly your belly was hurting. “I’m trying to eat!” “When I say funny things you look at me with murder in your eyes, but if I make a shitty pun you almost die of laughing?” He sounded bashful but he was smiling warmly, not that you noticed, as you were too busy trying not to cry out from the momentarily joy the pun brought you.
“Excuse me if I think your normal jokes are the real ‘shitty thing’, I do tend to enjoy puns more, they are witty” You said as you finally caught your breath and dived into the cafeteria food.
“Excuse you, I’m funny” you just rolled your eyes at that, something you do quite a lot, actually.
Things were usually like this, you two would be eating and telling some shitty jokes or puns, complaining about training and assignments and judging your colleagues decisions in life, such as dating the school resident jerk or eating broccoli when pizza sounded like a better option. Everyday, you’d be joined by a girl and a boy from your class. The girl was really outgoing and smart, you two became friends over ‘nerdy things’, as Keigo liked to call your obsession with Supernatural and Doctor Who. The boy, on the other hand, was under Keigo’s wing, he was shy and reserved but also smart (as everyone in the best high school of Japan seemed to be) and he’d often make some comments under his breath when he thought no one was listening. Now those were funny and made you make an effort to pay attention to him at all times so you can get that little glimpse of his true self.
“You won’t believe what I just heard” Naomi, the girl, came jumping around to the table. You liked to think she saw you as a good and trustworthy friend.
“How is it possible you already have gossips when people are still getting to know each other?” Ren, the boy, questioned quietly. Naomi didn’t seem to pay him attention, but you offered him a smile as if to say you thought the same. He turned almost as red as Keigo’s wings.
Even if you and Naomi were somewhat friends, she and Keigo had a gossip connection, knowing everything about everyone and their parents, so he was always the most excited when Naomi came jumping around the room, you’d take the time to stay in silence or making awkward conversation with Ren.
“Spill the tea girl” Keigo offered his best American accent, mimicking a slang he read somewhere. You were almost sure he ran a blog in one of those American’s websites to talk about celebrities life’s… or Endeavor, he liked that guy more than you think he should.
“Weeeeelllll do you know who Kanami is?” Naomi’s face made you remember the Cheshire Cat.
“Isn’t she the girl whose cousin dates the most popular guy in school” Keigo, in turn, made you think of a curious Alice arriving in Wonderland.
“Yep. Apparently she told her cousin Hiro had called the house they live in cancelling their date, which her cousin totally believed, and she, Kanami, went on the date instead saying her cousin was sick! Now, this was two weeks ago and the cousin found out and they were just fighting in the corridor, quirks and all!” Naomi made extravagant gestures while telling the facts.
“What! No way! Are they still there?” Keigo was getting up.
“No, sadly, the principal arrived there as we made our way here” Both teens now looked like a balloon that lost all air.
“It almost seems like you guys are disappointed no one died fighting over a guy” Ren’s observation came as silently as the summer breeze.
“Chicken Little over there eats his fellow chickens as lunch and you think he’d have sympathy for teenage girls fighting over their first ‘love’?” You replied as you cut your meat (or tofu or salad if you are vegetarian/vegan).
When the bell rang once again and you could feel the despair of all the students’ souls, Naomi’s voice came chirping again.
“Why don’t we go out after school today?”
“Yeah, sure, why not?”
Smiling like a fool just at the thought of spending the day with your friends, the rest of the day seemed promising.
Keigo’s laugh was probably heard a mile away from where you guys were. Naomi was telling some of her best embarrassing stories as a ‘get to know each other exercise’ because ‘there is still a lot you don’t know about each other’ and it was nice. I mean, you didn’t feel like telling your early teenage embarrassing moments, but the kid ones were ok, seeing your three friends laughing warmly made you feel like you belonged in that second, in that place, with those people. Last time you felt like that was before Touya disappeared.
Yet, here you were, able to be carefree, feeling the wind in your hair, under a cloudless sky, surrounded by people who wouldn’t leave you.
But you felt strange. The tip of your fingers felt a little numb and there was this shiver making its way down your spine. Someone was watching you. That thought made you stop and look around. And there you saw it, Hades’ flames all over again.
There is this thing about knowing someone since you were little: it doesn’t matter how long you are apart, it doesn’t matter if the friendship is over, if it was interrupted, there was always this ongoing familiarity in them, no matter how much both of you change.
He was just standing there, looking at you. Blue against (e/c). He was wearing a black windbreaker and black jeans, his hair the color of a corrupted soul, so different from the ruby red (and later snowy white) you were used to. He aged, obviously, his features more mature and you wondered how sharp his jawline would be, but nothing, not even the piercings he wore on his nose and lip, no hair dye, no amount of clothing or scars, nothing would make those flaming blue lights loose their intense gaze and color. (I mean, yeah, contacts would do it but he wasn’t wearing them okay?)
“(Y/n)? Are you alright?” Keigo’s voice startled you, making you look at him and realize he and the others were some feet ahead of you.
“Yeah, no, I’m fine, I just have something to deal with and then I’ll meet you guys at the mall.” You did your best to show your most convincing smile, yet Keigo still looked worried at you. “I really am fine Keigo, for this once I guarantee you don’t have to worry.” You spoke seriously and he seemed to trust you, he gave one look behind you and decided to keep going.
As you got closer to the not so strange stranger, you noticed how a half smile grew at each step you took. When you were close enough to see the daylight reflected in his eyes you spoke in a whisper, like the word alone would be able to make him vanish, like it’d break you all over again.
“Touya?”
“Not anymore, love.”

He loves me - Part 2
abusive!dabi x reader (eventually x hawks)
a/n: I know Hawks didn’t go to UA, buuuuuuut, for the sake of fanfic and romance, now he did. Anyways, this is how they met hehe
Part 1
When dawn came, you decided to take a shower to relax your tense muscles. Under the scalding water, as you close your eyes to enjoy it, you saw them again, those damned eyes. You used to see eyes like that every week, they’d be fixated on you as you laughed, glowing in mischief as you knew you were about to be pranked at any moment, swimming in unshed tears, the reasons never clear to your young mind, or even quickly moving around the room in embarrassment and surprise when you’d make surprise appearances to go and play. It felt familiar, it felt strange, like you were seeing an old house you used to call home and suddenly it belonged to someone else.
“(Y/N)! WHAT’S TAKING SO LONG? BREAKFAST IS READY” your mother screamed somewhere in the kitchen, probably, like the pull you needed as a get away from memory land, and just like that you turned the water off and went to dry and change yourself.
It was still strange seeing how you looked with the UA uniform, the skirt seemed too short sometimes and the blaser too tight, but it made you feel like you were one step closer to everything you ever dreamed of. With a small smile, you went downstairs.
“Hey there sleepyhead, how did you sleep? I heard you up quite late last night” said your dad with a gentle smile. You had the habit of going downstairs when you couldn’t sleep, hoping a cold glass of water would calm down the blood burning through your veins in anxiety. Some nights, your dad would end up sleeping on the couch, too tired to go upstairs after a hard day at work, usually watching an old cartoon or a new anime, the last option tended to annoy your mother, she thought some anime girls had really annoying voices and personality. It seemed that he was there when you came last night to the kitchen, after an hour or so of tossing and turning, thinking of old memories.
“Like a baby” one of those babies that couldn’t let their parents sleep and wanted to cry until they felt tired.
“You better not be lying, young girl, I know how much you enjoy staying up late doing who knows what on that cellphone of yours” came your mother’s reply. She had a way of showing her affection: somedays it’d be hugs and a piece of cake, others would bring harsh words of warnings as a way to behave properly infront of the everwatching eyes of society. And as to what you do on you cellphone… fanfics were a guilty pleasure, what can you say? They are addicting.
“No, mom, I wasn’t on my cellphone” you rolled your eyes only because she had her back turned to you and your dad had his eyes glued on a newspaper, how old school of him.
And as the minutes passed and the food magically disappeared from your plate and seemed to find its way to your stomach, it was time for school.
There is one funny thing about the first week of high school: most people don’t know each other. It was a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing because no one would look at you in pity anymore because they knew your other half vanished from the world one day, no one knows any of your embarrassing moments, no one expects anything from you. And it was a curse because you had to go and talk to people and get to know all (or some) of them all over again and boy do you have absolutely no idea on how to start a conversation. But, as you were only looking around at a group of girls giggling (how did they become friends so quickly if this was only the second day?!), you realize you wouldn’t have to.
“Heeeyyy” the way the word was said made you think this dude was having the wrong idea already (and it reminded you of a certain part of a tiktok song made by a guy named Tiago or something).
With your best bored expression, you turned to face the guy.
He had dirty blond hair styled messily, like he had woken up and ran to school at full speed without a worry. Not ran, you realized a second later, fled, because behind him stood a pair of crimson red wings, proudly, and only slightly open in the space between chairs, seeming to protect him from the views and harms of the world. Yet, even with the wings of a warrior angel, what caught your attention were his eyes, your own opening a little more to capture more of this stranger, the little black triangles near his tear duct and around his eyes gave him a hawk like gaze, seemingly wise to every mistake you’ve made and is about to make, and putting some makeup artists to shame. When he noticed how you were taking your time to look at him, the confident smirk he wore seemed to grow.
“Hey” came your a very original respond from your mouth, softer and more distracted than what you were hoping for and you were about to swear to kick him in the face if his smirk became more confident.
“Sooo… wanna be friends?”
“…what?”
“Are you confused because a godlike man came to ask that or because you don’t know what friends are?” His smirk turned into a teasing smile. You hated it more.
“I’m just confused as to why a bird is speaking to me. Did Hogwarts fire you because you were too distracted with a mirror that you forgot to send an acceptance letter?”
“Hogwhat?”
“Well, now I know we definitely can’t be friends.”
With that said, you turned your head in the direction of the window right next to you because, you know, any anime protagonist sits next to the window which granted them a 50% chance of good luck. The extension of UA was truly amazing.
“Nineteen words and you ruined it all Keigo, well done” he murmured to himself, you acted like you didn’t pay attention. “Look, I’m sorry if I offended you and your hog or whatever, but, you know, we are in the same class, I’m sitting right next to you, I don’t know anyone here and it seems that neither do you and I just thought that maybe we could be friends? Or colleagues that talk from time to time to complain about the lesson or whatever.”
You sighed.
“Well… I suppose you do seem lost, needing someone to teach you about culture it seems, so I guess I can give you a shot. I’m (l/n) (y/n).” You offered your hand and a small smile.
“Takami Keigo, and yes, I’d be blessed to get to know me too”
“You know what? I’ve changed my mind, I’ll see if those girls want to talk”
“Wait! I’ll stop… eventually”
Yeah, he sounded arrogant, but a few seconds ago you heard how nervous and maybe even desperate for a friend he was. You just have to get to know him better, maybe, just so you could see some more genuine side.
Part 3
Another a/n: so... what Hogwarts house do you think Hawks would be in? Just curious

He loves me (Part 1)
abusive!dabi x reader (later x hawks)
a/n: this is an idea I’ve had for a while now, this first part sucks but is only the beginning (I promise to work harder!) and it might be probably triggering to some people at some point of the story and I’m sorry for that
He loves me
He loves me...
He loves me... right?
Then why is he acting like this?
You met him at the age of 4, when his sister was born. At the time, you were a little bit younger than him and, as a kid, there was no anxiety or fear to talk to someone new, you were only excited to make a friend.
He was shy, that’s what you thought. He was always looking at his father in what you thought to be admiration. Years later you realized it was in fear.
Honestly? His mother was an angel. You never really talked to his dad. Apparently your parents went to the same school and the friendship between your mothers was really strong, in fact your mother insisted in seeing Rei at least twice a week.
Touya liked your company, that’s what Rei told you time and time again. He’d be smiling and acting his age and he was so creative! Always coming up with the best games and making you laugh until you tiny stomach would ache. The only thing off was the amount of bandages he’d use in his arms and, sometimes, on his face, but he was only a very energetic child that must have fallen while running around... right?
No, it seemed you were never right about things.
He ran away. He died. He vanished into thin air. It didn’t matter what happened. You didn’t know what happened, you only knew he wasn’t there anymore and it broke your tiny heart into pieces.
Years passed. You were older and less naive. Sometimes you had good days, sometimes you had bad ones, just like any other person, yet you kept your head held as high as you might everyday and, in the end, things worked in their mysterious ways.
It all started when you we going back home from your first day at school. UA High had always been a dream of yours ever since Touya left... if you couldn’t save your childhood best friend, you’d save as many other people you could, may it be from villains that walked down the street or the ones that lurked into the darkest corners of their minds and houses. You weren’t making the same mistakes twice.
If you don’t count the awkwardness of first days in a place you don’t know anyone, it was quite a good first day. Yet something felt wrong... like there was something there that shouldn’t be. The feeling was there from the moment you left school, so, being the smart person you are, you became paranoid with the possibility of being followed and resorted to using your quirk to go home quicker and safer, but only after looking into Hades’ flames, the bluest eyes, warm and cold, burning its way to your heart in only a second. You couldn’t sleep that night.
Name: (y/n) (l/n)
age: 15
profession: UA student
quirk: Space - you are able to teleport to anyplace you’ve been before or seen pictures of as long as you know the places things are
past: your mother has been friends with Rei Todoroki since they were teenagers and your dad work together at Endeavor’s agency, so you saw the Todoroki family quite a lot, being good friends with Touya (until he disappeared) and Fuyumi. You think Shoto was the cutest baby ever and do your best to spoil him when his dad lets you see him, which isn’t often.
