folks can be so quick to say "i like collars but not sexually"

which is fine, clarify if it makes you more comfortable, but i feel like in nonhuman spaces the default is usually nonsexual outside of nsfw spaces. collars are not inherently sexual and everyone clarifying every time that their enjoyment if collars is nonsexual feels like its just pushing the idea that collars are sexual.

idk words are hard. and its complicated because yeah, there are a lot of folks who want to make it clear for whatever reason that they like then completely nonsexually and theres nothing wrong with that.

if you feel you need to clarify for your own comfort then do so! but if youre only clarifying for the sake of others i promise you the assumption is probably gonna be that its nonsexual. context goes a long ways as well.

its like an ouroboros to me. folks clarify their use of collars is nonsexual. implying collars are sexual. meaning folks feel the need to clarify when its nonsexual. etc etc etc.

Theme and charity news

Unlike the banner says, it is no longer our 5th anniversary (it hasn't been updated yet). Instead, this year's theme centers around wildlife conservation and protecting endangered species! Here are our chosen charities for this year:

Wildlife Conservation Network

Spotted Cort - Funguary 2025 Day 3!!

I love Hyenas and I do not draw then nearly enough. Absolutely amazing cat beasties. And combined with fungi? Foggettaboudit !! Too awesome for words.

It's kind of misanthropy in the tag today innit. Everybody say it with me:

Despising humanity is just as bad as glorifying them. Humans are animals like everything else.

The humans responsible for destroying the environment and oppressing others all have names and addresses (hello FBI agent, this is a meaningless statement), and are the exception rather than the rule.

Humans are just apes who like to cook and dance and tell stories, chill out. None of us are any better than them. Something as random as species identification has as much weight on your value as horoscopes do: none!

i see a lot of posts along the lines of “i want to wear collars” “i want people to refer to/treat me as a dog” followed by:

“BUT I DONT WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE IT THE WRONG WAY!”

“BUT NOT IN A SEXUAL WAY!”

and what i will say in response is, why are you ashamed of sexuality? why are you ashamed of instinct? why are you ashamed to potentially associate with kink?

it is true there are people who might treat you weirdly if they suspect it’s sexual, but at the end of the day those people likely hate you already for some other reason (ie: if you’re not white, able bodied, or cishet).

provided you are physically safe, should you care about the opinions of others? NO.

you are allowed to personally not like sex or even find it repulsive. but you don’t need to tack a disclaimer that you’re not an icky sex freak onto your objectively tame statements of wanting to be treated as your species.

Let me say this really slowly, really clearly, and only once:

There is not a single identity group within the queer community that "has never contributed" to the community as a whole, but even if there were, the queer community is not a church, and you do not have to pay an activism tithe to be allowed to be "really queer."

the only censorship we need is the block, mute and filter option because giving others the power to dictate what can and cannot exist in fandom will eventually lead to banning all nsfw works or even slightly but nuanced ‘problematic’ topics. ​I block and move on because I don’t want to see certain things but to erase them completely is a dangerous slope to having things you like be banned eventually.
