History. Art. World Lore. Languages. Some stupid shitpost. Prone to get into random hyperfocuses. ADHD. All media has become lamer over time. Tumblr too. But slightly less.

The Selk'nam (IV): Humans and Xo'on
Note for subscribers.: Finally, a new entry regarding the Selk’nam! To those of you subscribed to our website, you may have received a message showing this article, as if already published. That seemed to be an error; an incomplete version that was sadly uploaded by accident before ending up complete. Apologies for that blunder! This is the full revised version, more thoroughly investigated. Hope…

The Selk'nam (IV): The Xo'on
In previous entries about Selk’nam culture, we discussed their origins, their creation mythos, and recalled the mythical past of some of their Howenh1. This article will be about other, very important part of their cosmology, this time related to humanity, and what’s their place amidst this vast spiritual world. We will talk about the role the average (Selk’nam) human takes in this world, and…

Temporal setback
Hello, to anyone invested in Crodur and reading the articles. I am afraid there will be a small delay until the next one is published. It pains me to communicate this, but many issues (most of them my fault, let’s not beat around the bush) arised. As a little spoiler, the next article was on Hells and Heavens series, this time featuring the Tuonela of the Finnic mythology. Unfortunately, the…

Hells and Heavens I: Qudlivun and Adlivun
A new series I decided to start while I gather content for the other ones1, focused entirely in afterlifes, hells, heavens and other planes of existence for the death that cultures from all the world ideated through the ages. In every part of this section, we will cover an specific civilization’s Underworld(s), what they consisted of, who went there and why, and what could one expect in those…

I still got discrepancies on Hopi's first settlement, I discuss that in the article. The sources at the bottom include every different claim, so it's up to the reader, or someone with more knowledge in general, to decide.
The Hopi (I): Historical recap
The Hopi are a very interesting group of Native Americans that I have been hearing about lately, and after skimming through some information about their culture and way of living, they quickly have caught my interest, to the point that I decided I will dedicate a series of articles covering most of what I find worth mentioning, just like I did with the Selk’nam people. As always, I’ll dedicate…

Apparently I'm finding contradictory sources on Hopi Native Americans. One claims Antelope Mesa to be their first village, other mention its Old Oraibi, but even then not all of them mention Oraibi as the oldest OUTRIGHT (some do, some don't).
Really strange, I feel out of my depth! I'll mention it on the next entry, and just let more knowledgeable people figure it out.

Next article will probably be about Hopi people, a Native American group that catched my attention for their unique social structure and artistic forms.
Their religion is worth a good read, I think. Hope I can produce something good enough!

Crodur is back on track!
Hello again, to any readers that may have missed our site activity. I’m happy to confirm that, after a (frankly sudden) break of two months, Crodur is up and going once more. Hooray! Live Pakal the Great reaction to Crodur resuming it’s activities It’s been a while! Abandoning this site (even if briefly) has gotten me a little bit discouraged, especially after having racked up over 10 different…

While we're at it, I'll probably change the web display a little bit. The main page should immediately show the latest articles, so the casual visitor knows what can they expect from the site. I noticed the vast majority of the views I got stopped right at the home page, only a 10% or less even look after the articles, let alone read them.
I have some sitting at zero views, which doesn't particularly bother me since I write them to express my investigations somewhere, but I still think someone could enjoy reading those if I put a tiny bit more effort on showing them up.
This week there has been no articles on the web. Sadly, I don't have anything new for the next two, either. I'll just repost the dragons of the world articles there, maybe delete them from here (having them on two different sites makes some wordpress policies... difficult). Even if I do that, the articles will be fully preserved and available on full capacity. But I digress.
Sorry, I have a lot going on IRL and sometimes finding time to investigate, find sources (apart from Wikipedia...) and build a semi readable piece of information is too much.
At the absolute worst I'll bring new stuff right before the end of the year. After all, I'm still paying for the domain, gotta give it use!
See you soon, whoever reads crodur at least casually. Be ready for more!

Greek mythology: Original or copycat?
A recurring joke among those interested in classic History (such as myself) exists around the Roman and Greek mythos, specially how the later are depicted as an original creation, made by the Hellas1 natives, and/or immigrant waves that eventually settled in, and the Romans just… claimed it as their own, slapped a couple names on the acquired Gods and… that’s it, a new religion emerged! The…

My last article wasn't posted here, for some reason, so I'll manually reupload the link. It's titled:
CIVILIZATIONS THAT COUNTED TO A MILLION
Ever wondered which peoples across the world reached the number one million on their calculus, and how did they display it? Many cultures have done it on their own, and this text briefly glosses over some of them.
Of course, I couldn't mention all of them, but there's 5 of them listed and explained!

As always, feedback is encouraged. I hope to learn as much as you do.

The Selk'nam (III): Temáukel, Cénuke and the Ha'is clan
Third part. Also corrected the second one a little bit since some details were off. Everything is alright now!
In the previous articles regarding Selk’nam peoples, we explored a -somewhat rushed- summary of their past and major contacts with the world, and then the basics of their mythology, and we even dropped the name of their most important god, Temáukel, along with the mythical ancestors or Howehn. Let’s talk about them with a little more detail! Temáukel: The supreme being Temáukel is the name the…

I'm afraid the nature of the site i'm making will force me to remove any and all articles I have originally written here. The good part is that they're all stored and saved on the new site! And some of them have been slightly improved to provide more content.
In future articles, I will also ditch the bold lettering to put emphasis on words. It becomes a little bit distracting, or even patronizing (as if I'm grabbing the reader by their hand and telling them where to focus).
Nothing has really changed and most of them will be linked to the tumblr. You will be just one more click away from them, and nothing more than that!

Age of metals
Following up with the post I made about mayas, metallurgy as a way to gauge civilization advancement becomes even more ridiculous the longer you stray away from the typical regions (again, Europe and occasionally part of Asia). We got the example of the North Sentinel people! Photo of North Sentinelese Natives, took in the 90s before the total enclosure of the territories to the outsiders For…

The Selk'nam (II): Mythology overview
So, in my last post we quickly saw the story of the Selk’nam or Ona people, their (speculated) origins, interaction with the outside world, the genocide perpetrated against them and, in a more positive note, how they’re currently fighting to reclaim a spot in history for their culture. But, what did they actually believe in? What was their religion, idea of the supernatural and the like? Let’s…
