Me and my sister have a game we call "Stack-a-Zach". Today we finally managed to get the Genos-Tanjiro-Aether tower stable enough to take a picture of! Gilgamesh figure included at the side because as far as I know there aren't figurines of Sieg, so other FGO mages are the closest we can get.

I got my sister to watch Hunter X Hunter and she couldn't keep track of who's who in the Chimera Ant arc towards the end, so I made her a chart explaining it. It also helps me to practice doing quick doodles in Procreate, which is always good fun.

More digital redos of old drawings, this is the Cheshire Cat from the otome game/manga/OVA Alice in the Country of Hearts. I did two versions because the first one was scribbled as a warm up. I'm hoping to do more drawings now since I bought a new case for my iPad in my favourite colour and covered it in a bunch of Mandalorian stickers and now I'm like 1000% more motivated to actually use it. Weird how simply changing the appearance was all it took to get my motivation back, but whatever works, I guess?
Fun fact: the manga I had of this had a weird print issue where a solid 3 chapters, around 30-ish pages, were repeated, upside down, and in the wrong order. Made for interesting reading :D

More redraws of pictures I drew ages ago and updated in Procreate: Zeno and Shinha from Yona of the Dawn. Amazing anime with a beautiful soundtrack, definitely worth checking out if you like fantasy with a badass female lead!

Finally finished the Hisoka drawing I'd been working on for a couple weeks! The pose is taken from Mephistopheles final ascension form in Fate/Grand Order, in reference to the Harlequin design he has (and because it looks super pretty). I was originally going to add Bungee Gum as well, but my sister suggested keeping it more like a normal card deck theme, and I think it looks better this way too.
The quality isn't as good here as the original in Procreate because for some reason it really didn't want to post in PNG so I had to use jpeg instead, but I'm really happy with it anyway!

My contribution to the Genshin Impact Vago Mundo fanart contest. The rules don't state you can't post your work elsewhere, so I thought I might as well show it here too.

Finally got back into drawing for myself now that uni's done for the semester!
I finished watching HxH (which I got into because of seeing @paintheskywithcolor's posts about it) and it's now my favourite series, then I read Sui Ishida's oneshot about Hisoka's past and immediately wanted to draw ghoul masks for the Zoldycks. I've always loved drawing masks and I needed more practice in Procreate so this was a lot of fun to make!

Hi, hope you're having a great morning/noon/night and I'd just like to say I love your blog!
If possible, could you give me some advice on how to write bi- or multi-lingualism, please? Either stereotypes to avoid or things mono-linguals like me tend to get wrong, or common experiences to include for relatability?
For context, I'm thinking of writing fanfics for various anime/manga where the characters all speak Japanese, but non-natives also speak their own languages with each other.
One main question I have is: when you've got groups of people where some of them speak only their own language and some of them speak more than one, can it happen that the multi-linguals not only forget to switch between the right language to the right group, but also not necessarily even realise that they're speaking the wrong language to the wrong group in the first place?
Hope that makes sense
Hi, yes it's a beautiful morning outside :)
I have made a post about that, but it's quite a few years old, I think it was one of my first big writing help posts and I'm not sure I completely agree with it anymore. But you can check it out here, I will probably re-write it sometime.
To answer your main questions: it can happen that they forget which language to speak, but in my opinion it would depend on their mindset in that moment and how well they speak the other language. If both languages are their mother tongue, it's not as likely as if one was their native and the other one was one they learned.
That they not realise that they are speaking the wrong language is a given, since they forgot which language to speak, but I would definitely say that it depends on a few things. They would have to be thinking in that language in that moment and probably be preoccupied with something else, so that they don't realise who they are really talking to. But they would probably realise that pretty soon.
It definitely happened to me before as an au-pair with an American best friend and a lot of German friends, where we would always speak English and then don't switch back to German, even though the American left. Or I would be thinking about something else and my American friend would ask me something and I would answer with 'ja' instead of 'yes'. And I went to a few Model United Nations that were entirely in English and my group was completely German except for one girl and while we were at a conference, my group all gossiped in German to each other, so I accidently asked this girl something in German, because she was right next to me and we all had to whisper, which really confused her, because I just had forgotten that she couldn't understand me, even though we've known each other for a while now.
I hope this is helpful for you and good luck!

My mum's been going round in circles trying to get her prescription filled, and she was told her latest one hasn't been done yet because the doctors was closed due to the bank holiday.
Excuse me, what??!! Since when do doctors take bank holidays?? As mum quite rightly said, people's conditions don't take bank holidays!
She's managed to get it sorted, but that's ridiculous. It's bad enough doctors aren't open weekends. It's a good thing we have free healthcare in the UK, because if I had to pay for the lack of service and quality, I'd riot

A question for non aro-ace peeps who have dated people before: what's the general opinion on how/when to introduce a significant other to your parents?
It's never likely to be relevant for me because I'm not interested in dating anyone, but my sister mentioned a comedy skit she'd seen where the guy was talking about introducing your partner to your parents by just bringing them home with you (the partner, not the parents) and I said I've always found the idea of that so weird.
To me, simply turning up one day like "hey, so this is my partner" is incredibly rude, because you're suddenly introducing someone who you've presumably been close to for a while, but that you've never mentioned before. If I were a parent, I think I'd feel like my child either didn't trust me enough to even tell me they were seeing someone, or else didn't care about the person enough to want to tell me about them. I mean, if I were ever to be interested in someone enough to want to date them, I'd definitely give my parents the courtesy of letting them know - after all, why wouldn't I want to tell them I've found someone to be with?
My sister, however, who is most definitely not aro-ace, thinks that mindset is incredibly old-fashioned and prudish, and she says she wouldn't tell us that she was dating someone until she brought them home (with the subtle implication of 'if she even bothered to do so at all').
Also, is it weird that I would just ask outright what someone's intentions are if I thought they were asking me out? It seems far more practical to me to just get things straight (ha ha) from the get-go in terms of hopes/expectations regarding potentially dating vs just being friends. That way, you hopefully wouldn't end up with miscommunication and headaches later down the line because one or both of you didn't make it clear where you were hoping things would go - or not.
Idk, I'm just rambling at this point, but I really do feel like the whole relationship deal should come with a conduct manual. It's like watching a play you don't have the script for - sure, it's interesting to watch other people doing it, but I have no idea how to join in myself (and I don't want to).
Please tell me if I'm weird or not.

An interaction I had with one of my lecturers that still annoys me a few days later: the class was talking about graduate employment prospects and career progression, and he was saying about getting higher and higher up the management chain. Which is fine, but I've never been that ambitious, so I just casually said, well, what if we don't want to aspire to upper management?
I swear, I could hear the way his brain just...stopped. He literally did the math lady calculation face, does not compute. So I was like, um, do you want me to explain...? And when I said that I don't really ever want to go right to the top in a company, I'd be happy with just a stable middle-level position, with enough salary to be comfortable but also enough time outside work to enjoy life and be with family/friends, he just...could not seem to understand that. He (very condescendingly) went "well, you don't want to be in a junior position all your life, do you? Your salary will stagnate if you don't move up the ranks!"
Dude, don't talk to me like I'm three. I'm not an idiot, although I highly suspect you are. Of course I wouldn't intend to work in graduate entry level jobs for more than a few years, so that's just being stupid. I've just never wanted to be the overall boss.
Anyway, mini rant over. I just find it equally hilarious and sad that this guy apparently can't fathom that someone would actually want a life outside work, even if it means not having a six-figure income.

I recently started re-taking up knitting to give myself something to do that doesn't involve staring at a screen. I haven't knitted since I was at least 12/13 so I was honestly expecting to be pretty rusty, but I was surprised how quickly the muscle memory came back. Ngl, I'm really proud that I've managed to keep it neat so far, and it's also really rewarding to have a visual representation of how much I've done. I'm making a scarf because that's easiest, and because winter's coming up so I'll need it.
Given that I know next to nothing about knitting (which is bad, because my aunt is a self-employed seamstress), I think it's pretty decent for a first attempt. Google tells me this is called garter stitch, which is the basic beginner stitch. The next stitch to learn is stockinette stitch, the classic "knit one, purl one", which I'll have to watch tutorials on YouTube for because I can't get the hang of purling.

Me and my sister have both been at uni for 6 years now, across 5 total different degrees, and not once has either of us had a timetable that didn't have at least one day that just completely forgot to consider 1) the logistics of getting from A to B within the time between classes and
2) the fact that people need to eat and take toilet breaks
I swear, it's like once you get past high school, university timetable planners lose all common sense.

Something for the Sebastian Stan fans.
These pics are from the short-lived NBC tv series "Kings," from 2009. A very loose re-telling of the story of King Saul and King David, updated to modern times & set in a fictional country.
