Hi friends!

I’ve taken a few weeks break after finally finishing Numb (which I somehow forgot to post the link to before, oops) and I’m ready to get back into writing. Trouble is, I have too many WIPs and not enough brain. So I’m asking for your help - which fic should I work on next?

All of these are 9-1-1 fics with various pairings and are all partially written. They’re each full of whump and angst and extremely bad days for Buck in particular. Vote in the poll or drop a comment if one grabs you more than the others. Reblogs for reach are appreciated! Misery fic Set: 8a Pairing: BuckTommy Synopsis: Hotshots Brad doesn’t take it well when Bobby steps down as his advisor. He goes full villain and kidnaps Bobby - and Buck too, for leverage.

Hostage fic Set: post s7, pre s8 Pairing: BuckTommy Synopsis: Buck is in the wrong place at the wrong time when a police chase ends in a grocery store standoff. He does what Buck does - tries to help and gets hurt.

Torture fic Set: 5b Pairing: Buddie Synopsis: Someone from Buck’s past is out for revenge and they’re not subtle about it. He wakes up chained in a basement with no idea what’s coming next.

Car yard fic Set: sometime between s3 – 7 Pairing: Buddie Synopsis: The 118 is called to search a massive car yard for a group of missing kids. In the chaos, Buck disappears.

Sentinel/Guide AU Set: post s8 Pairing: BuddieTommy Synopsis: Buck comes online as a Sentinel while trying to save Bobby’s life. It works, but a mysterious government agency with its own agenda wants to know how.

Hey friends,

Now that season 8’s wrapped, I’m taking a break from fandom spaces for a while. With the constant discourse around the ship wars and my long fic coming to an end this week, I’m feeling pretty burnt out and need some distance to recharge.

I’m still planning to write and post fic, just not keeping up with socials for the time being. If you need to reach me for something specific, feel free to DM, I’ll check messages occasionally.

Fault Lines

When a building collapse finds Buck lost in a maze of rubble and pain, he thinks he's reliving the day he saved all of the 118 – including Bobby.

Disoriented and haunted, Buck fights to hold onto what’s real as he searches for his Captain. For the man he loves like a father. The man he can’t bear to lose.

This time, he’s not going to fail. Even if it kills him.

@kedreeva I know you wrote this some time ago but I just came across it now and I am SO grateful to you for putting this feeling into words.

I am presently editing the final chapter on my longest fic yet. It’s consumed every spare moment for over 9 months and while I adore it and am extremely proud of it, I’m also very ready to be done with it. I have so many other WIPs and ideas I’ve been wanting to write and haven’t let myself until this one is finished. I’ve been so excited to get to them!

My husband has just gone away for a week and I planned to work on those other WIPs for the whole week while shamelessly neglecting irl responsibilities. This was going to be MY time!!

Except… I’m exhausted. Utterly drained. I don’t even want to turn my laptop on, let alone write. And I couldn’t figure out why, until I read your post.

So - thank you. I’m going to give myself some grace and just sit with it for a while.

That feeling you are left with when you have finished a long project - whether it is long because it contains a lot of words, or long because it took you a long time to write, or long because it took you a long time to start writing it - when you’re happy because you finished it but empty because it is finished. You took out all of the words that were inside of you, at least all of the ones that pertain to that story, and the relief that follows such an action can be devastatingly exhausting.

On top of just the empty feeling, there follows that bittersweet sense of understanding that this thing which has for so long been your companion is no longer just your companion, and that you have in some ways severed the ties with it, because you will not be writing it anymore. You might write other stories related to it. You might write stories in the same world. Or stories with the same characters. But THAT story is finished. That story has been taken out of you and put where it can be a part of everyone that reads it. That is unimaginably happy and sad at the same time.

So I just want to say, I guess, be nice to yourself after you finish a story. Yes it’s happy, yes it feels good. But if you also feel a little like you’ve just lost something, give yourself some time to process that, because in a way you did. It’s a happy loss, the sort of loss wildlife rescuers feel when an animal they saved is able to go back and be wild again. It’s a good, happy thing, but it’s also okay to take a little time to be sad and take care of yourself.

I have a new (mostly crack) ship - Buck/hot new Captain 133. See pic for my reasons... Did anyone catch the characters name? I need it for very important fic reasons... The name on the door above him in this pic says Horacio, which I think might be the actor's name? And someone said they thought his turnout coat said Reed. Can anyone confirm either of these please? Also what ever happened to Captain Mehta who was 133's captain? I'm going with this is the captain of a different shift there, cos I adore Mehta and he needs to stay.

just wanted to say how much I love your story’s and writing style and just well everything you do. Ok maybe not everything, as I highly inpatient girl waiting a whole week for a new chapter is cruel. But other than that love it all.

That's really sweet of you, thank you for reaching out and letting me know. Which story? I've been posting two lately, not sure which one you mean lol. And hey, look at it this way - you might have to wait a week each time, but at least that's all you'll have to wait, since I write the story in full before posting now. So you can trust that you'll get the whole thing, eventually, and not get burned by an unfinished WIP like so many of us have been.

For anyone who's just watched 8x16 The Last Alarm and is feeling let down by the lack of depth to Bobby's funeral, I am with you. He has been the person that holds them all together for 8 seasons and we get less than 15 minutes farewelling him? Not a single eulogy from any of the firefam? I don't usually say this but fuck it - I wrote a better funeral that what we got for Bobby today. Granted it's for Buck not Bobby but the emotions, the depth, the feelings, that's what we should have had for Bobby.

Those He Left Behind

All Buck wanted was to be with his family, but things weren’t the same after the lawsuit. He was sidelined, buried in chores, still on the outs with the 118, especially Bobby and Eddie. Unwilling to give up on them, Buck kept his head down and did his job.

Until he died, all alone, while his team was out on a call.

Grief and guilt consume them. They should have been there, should have seen the signs— should have *saved* him. But Bobby had let his anger blind him, believing there’d be time to make things right. And Eddie had stayed silent, convinced there’d be a someday. Now, Buck is gone, and they can never make it right.

They weren’t the only ones Buck left behind, however. When a group of Navy SEALs arrives at Buck’s funeral, their presence brings more than just surprise. It brings truths the 118 never saw coming, and more grief than they ever could have imagined.

Tommy waits for him to continue, ask for a selfie or an autograph but it never comes. The guy just keeps smiling. Tommy should say something. Anything. He's staring. "I'm Tommy," he blurts out, words foreign on his tongue and Tommy feels a kick at the feel of them in his mouth. He can't remember the last time he actually got to introduce himself to someone. The last time he was able to walk in anywhere without someone already knowing and assuming things about him. Tommy feels giddy and he knows he's probably got the strangest smile on his face, but if he's making the other guy uncomfortable he doesn't show it. "O-Okay. I'm Evan." --- Tommy's a famous action star, Buck is a pop culture black hole and has no idea. What could go wrong?
