I'm struggling to tell if this is trolling or not but I know there are a lot of people who believe this. To be clear: Mexicans celebrate their independence with a national holiday on September 16th. Cinco de Mayo, on the other hand is only an official holiday in the State of Puebla. It is, in fact, the anniversary of a brutal attack by invading imperialist forces attempting to overthrow the legitimate Mexican government and replace it with a puppet government loyal to said imperialist power.
The holiday is celebrated more in the United States of America than it is in Mexico and, for some reason, most USAmericans fail to see the irony in that, despite their nation's long track record of invading foreign countries and attempting to replace legitimate governments with puppet governments loyal to the USA.
Cinco de Mayo had been celebrated in California for a while but became more popular in the USA because of the Chicano Movement, which tried to combat systemic racism — and frequently crossed over with the Black Power Movement and the Labor Movement. The Chicano Movement declined in the 1970s because of interventions by the USAmerican government's infiltration and use of police brutality, something the government continues to apply against Latin Americans to this day, as exemplified by many recent examples of ICE raids and the deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles.
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo was also encouraged by President Franklin D Roosevelt while implementing his Good Neighbor foreign policy which, in his own words, dedicated the USA to being the neighbor who "respects the rights of others, the neighbor who respects his obligations and respects the sanctity of his agreements in and with a World of neighbors." He also committed that "the definite policy of the United States from now on is one opposed to armed intervention." These commitments continue to be ones the USA fails to live up to. His government promoted the celebration of Cinco De Mayo while attempting to disrupt the common negative stereotypes of Mexicans at the time, stereotypes that are heavily encouraged and made worse by the current Government of the USA.
With Cinco de Mayo being a commemoration of a brutal attack on the city of Puebla, your statement makes you seem likely to agree that it should not be joked about the same way that many would say the attacks on the World Trade Center should not be joked about. Since the USA continues to betray the spirit in which the celebration spread across that nation, it also seems in poor taste for USAmericans to celebrate it at all but, by some measures, it seems to be more heavily celebrated than the Super Bowl or St Patrick's Day.

Wait... Whose fault do you think it is? Young people can't buy houses because Boomers are hoarding them all and holding them ransom. Young people can't support themselves with minimum wage jobs because Boomers have consistently voted against the minimum wage being increased to keep pace with the rise in cost of living. It is exactly the Boomers' fault that they had advantages that have not materialized for younger generations. They got theirs and said "fuck the rest of 'em". They made it over all the hurdles and then pulled up the ladders behind them.

I'm fairly certain this is the Traveler plot from Star Trek: TNG and can also describe the relationship between The Doctor and his TARDIS.

i find it v cute when rpgs offer me, someone whose sole strategy is “attacking enemies,” status changing effects. “this lowers your enemy’s speed” you know what else would lower their speed? being dead, from my fists

You mentioned the NT, so I gave NT verses.
I sure didn't. I hadn't added anything to this post prior to you quoting New Testament verses.
Weren't the apostles followers of Jesus?
Yes, but that question is fairly irrelevant to the conversation. I didn't mention apostles and the letters you quoted weren't written by any of them. The standard claims are that 1 Corinthians and 1 Timothy were written by Paul, who never met Jesus — although there is reason to doubt he wrote 1 Timothy despite his name being on it. Who wrote the letter of Jude is up for debate but it is likely not the apostle Jude nor anyone who would have met Jesus given the way the letter refers to the apostles in general. The people who wrote the quotes you provided are followers of Jesus in the way that anyone claiming to be Christian today could be considered a follower of Jesus. The only difference is that a council of the Catholic Church at some point voted on which texts to include in their holy text and chose those ones, among others.
As I mentioned, this makes your argument a bit silly when the original post is about followers of Jesus today (who never met Jesus in person) not actually living Jesus's message and you replied with examples of text from other followers of Jesus who never met Jesus in person and who were apparently not actually living Jesus's message.
Or are you picking and choosing which verses are supposed to be followed in the New Testament as well?
No? First, where does the "as well" come from? Had I made any claims about picking and choosing verses from the Old Testament? Second, "which verses are supposed to be followed" is a rather loaded question in the general sense. For example, you seem to be making the assumption that there are any verses at all that are "supposed" to be followed and didn't even bother to include a group or individual who would be "supposed" to follow them. Religions are and should always be an opt-in sort of social contract.
Let's remember that the original post that you replied to indicated that modern Christians were not obeying Jesus's teachings. Jesus's teachings. Not the Bible's teachings, nor the Old Testament's teachings, nor the epistles' teachings. You brought in non-sequitur arguments about the Old Testament and then the epistles. I merely pointed out that the epistles were irrelevant to the conversation about Jesus's teachings as they make no claims that Jesus said any of the things in them and there is no reason to think that the authors ever met Jesus in person. Although the timing and authorship of the Gospels can be debated, there is a lot of similarity in the messages between the Gospels, especially when attributing teachings directly to Jesus so there is likely some provenance behind the passages I quoted. Those passages are also clearly not followed by the modern Christians implied by the original post who would bully trans kids or anyone else.
The less of it they follow, the better they seem to treat other people and themselves.
This seems like a rather heartless way to conclude your post given that the topic is people not following the teachings of Jesus by bullying trans children. I would argue that bullying trans children — or anyone, for that matter — is a rather shitty way to treat other people.

The original post was about Jesus and you haven't produced a single quote from Jesus in your counter argument. Those are all letters written by his followers which makes your argument a little silly given that the original post was calling out followers of Jesus for not actually following Jesus's teachings.
Perhaps consider these?
"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?" (Matthew 5:43-48 NIV)
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 NIV)
"Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." (Luke 6:31-36 NIV)

i go to the shop and I ask if they have any raspberries. they say no, they used to sell raspberries, but they haven't had any in stock in the last 15 years. I ask if there's somewhere else I can go to buy raspberries. They say no, with confidence and pride, they're the only shop around who has ever sold or will ever sell raspberries. Other shops might sell other fruit, sure, but they have a monopoly on all raspberries forever. I ask if they're possibly planning on them selling them again in future? they say they can't tell me that.
on the way home, I encounter someone eating raspberries. I ask and they tell me that they grow their own, they got some seeds from the shop back in The Raspberry Days and kept them. They take me to a field of many beautiful raspberry plants and invite me to pick my own, they're free for all the town to pick whenever they'd like.
someone comes up behind us. It's the shop manager, President of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa. he hatefully throws a bob-omb that blows up and kills both of us instantly for stealing 200 trillion dollars worth of potential Raspberry Shop That Doesn't Do Raspberries Anymore profits that they weren't making and then he turns around to the camera with a big thumbs up and says don't do piracy or something ok please

Oh, uh. I guess I should mention that I’ve made this thing. Three months after release sounds like a perfect time. Untitled Tile Painter is a quirky little drawing tool that lets you lay down funky geometric Bauhaus-inspired patterns. It’s 50% a useful thing for actual people and 50% me wanting to stretch my UMG muscles on something. It’s also a little bit like a control panel of an alien spaceship, as far as UX goes. Give it a go, if it looks like your kind of thing! It’s entirely free and all generated images are yours to keep and use as you see fit.
