saturday morning hangover
wine and cake
was a big mistake
oh well
  fell asleep on the futon
and again in the bed
awoke and everything ached
the rain pours down as i walk to my car
by the time i zip up my jacket i’ll be there
  wet fingers key in
and a frail tired body slumps down
  nicki minaj mix tapes
on youtube
on my iphone
auxiliary cable plugged into the headphone jack
plugged into my car sound system

after too many bananas
dreams in her head
which will never occur
muscles tense up on the small of her back
  watching tv with friends
though she doesn’t belong
but the city was too far away

Another Bed Poem
been in bed so long my leg’s asleep
forgot to apply neosporin to my problem area
you express that you’re jealous of my rock and roll lifestyle
but all the good rock stars are dead
someone is mowing their lawn outside
             or something
and the sound is really annoying
if i have a house one day
i wouldn’t have a lawn
but i’ll never have that kinda money
and when i choke on my puke
it won’t matter to anyone
cuz i can’t even palm mute

so i decided i am going to try to write at least one poem on this every day. this is not one of them. but it could be because my poems are just regular blog posts with line breaks #oops

Radical Truth
you wouldn't appreciate silver lined words of disinterest carefully constructed to seize your circulatory organ

Not TextEdit
i feel so trapped in this box
not the textedit box - that doesn’t exist
the society box
but that one doesn’t exist either
which is what makes it so hard

Hot Topic
i’m really tired
of the fact that i still get emails from hot topic
even though i haven’t bought anything from there
since like 2007
except those two pairs of pants i bought the other week
but that doesn’t count.
they’re just black jeans, i could’ve purchased them anywhere!

Contemplations While Streaming "Kaledioscope" on Spotify Premium
my five dollar headphones have broken twice, once on each ear
they can still be used in a pinch
but are more or less
unwearable
my five hundred dollar sennheiser studio headphones
are too expensive for me to wear without feeling anxiety
i've dropped so much food on them
can you ever enjoy something so expensive?
sometimes i don't want to wear headphones
but when it's past 1 and my air conditioning window unit is blaring
siouxsie and the banshees cannot be played at a decent enough volume
without disturbing the neighbors
i could not tell you the price of my current headphones
as they came in a recording bundle pack i received as a gift
but they are also sennheisers,
so they retail at at least 50 dollars i'd say
it's hard to enjoy the music though
because i have indigestion
from eating too many marinated artichoke hearts at the whole foods salad bar
and the air from the air conditioning window unit is too cold
but it's at 72 degrees
any higher and what's the point?
i would lower the speed of the fan
but it's already on F1, which is the lowest of the three fan settings
for a few days I tried something where it was in "fan mode"
this allowed air to flow without being artificially made colder
i even kept it on F2 or occasionally F3
but i fell out of the habit altogether
  i can't remember why. i must've had a good reason though.
i don't think these (at least) 50 dollar sennheisers are good
because i get a headache after prolonged use
maybe they're too tight
my neck hurts and i'm cold
but at least I had a completely vegan dinner!

Untitled 7.22.14
wouldn't it be crazy
if there was a compilation album
specifically featuring male singers?
i bet no one would buy it.

Myopic Misanthropy
i’ve been looking for a new pair of glasses
a used pair of glasses
a nice big plastic pair from the 80s
but I don’t trust etsy or ebay or anybody
the other day i was in the mall
and i walked by a girl who was at one of those
kiosks where they try to sell you lotion or something
and the lotion girl had the exact glasses i wanted.
i wanted to ask her where she got them
but she asked me if i wanted to try some lotion
and i just kept walking

The Myth of Permanence
I used to have a lot of songs and poems and stories and pictures
and I saved them on my external hard drive
now I don't have them anymore
I am writing this on my dying computer
and I shall save it to the desktop, or a folder on the desktop
but one day soon all this will be gone too
just like the recordings i made when i was 15
of me singing shakira songs in the original spanish
  sabes que
estoy a tus pies?

Coping Mechanisms
July's heat keeps us seeking refuge
Temporary shadows cast by the fickle sun
  Tobacco draws us outside
Chilled wine and an agreeable breeze
Make the burn more bearable
  Tomatoes and cherries
Rum with squeezed lemon
Endure the cafes or succumb to the summer

If I could see the clouds
If I could see the clouds
I would not wonder where they've gone to
Or where they were before
  A particular ale
Reminds me of a friend's backyard in better days
Garden parties have fallen out of favor, anyway
A solo stroll up the avenue in the lightest of rains at sunrise
The clouds have returned
To this town I never belonged to
But neither do you
